2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO PARTS NOT AVAILABLE TO REPAIR/ REPLACE AUTOMATIC TAILGATE RECALL 15V-393. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE TAILGATE STOPPED WORKING TWO MONTHS INTO OWNING THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT FIND AN ISSUE, DESPITE THE FACT THE TAILGATE WOULD NOT LATCH, WHEN THE CONSUMER ARRIVED. A FEW WEEKS LATER, THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN AND IT SOON RESOLVED ITSELF WHEN THE HE RETURNED TO THE DEALER. *JB
PURCHASED CAR 5/13/15. ON 5/30 NOTICED SHIMMY/VIBRATION AS I ACCELERATED FROM A STOPPED POSITION INTO A SHARP RIGHT TURN. APPT MADE FOR SERVICE 6/8. AT CHECK-IN, CUSTOMER SERVC KNEW EXACTLY WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT; CONFIRMED IN TEST DRIVE. REPORTED STAR CASE #S1421000022, HALF-SHAFTS (LEFT & RIGHT AXLES) DEFECTIVE, NEED REPLACING. TOLD CAR WAS COMPLETELY SAFE TO DRIVE IN THIS CONDITION. VERBAL & WRITTEN CONFIRM THAT PARTS WERE BEING MANUFACTURED AND WERE SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE 9-2015. TOLD BY SERVICE MGR, CHRYSLER ISSUED AN INTERNAL TSB 2-2015. PARTS WARPING WHEN HEATED AND FLUID LOSS OCCURS. ENTIRE ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BUT PARTS HAVEN'T BEEN MANUFACTURED, CONTRACTED WITH COMPANY THAT MANUFACTURES THE TRAILHAWK MODEL (NO PROBLEMS REPORTED ON THOSE PARTS). ASSURED CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE BUT CHRYSLER REP AGREED TO PAY FOR RENTAL CAR FOR LONG TRIP I HAD PLANNED PRIOR TO PURCHASE. RESEARCHED -- I HAVE FOUND THIS ISSUE DATES BACK TO THE 2014 MODELS. BOTTOM LINE, THEY KNEW THIS PART WAS DEFECTIVE PRIOR TO SELLING ME THE CAR IN MAY. I AGREED TO BE PATIENT BUT IT IS NOW SEPT AND HAVE NOT HAD MY "STATUS UPDATE" INQUIRY PHONE CALL RETURNED. VIBRATION ISSUE GREW WORSE QUICKLY, TURNED INTO A WOBBLE. I CAN'T DRIVE IT FOR EXTENDED PERIODS ON HIGHWAYS. AS THE CAR/PARTS HEAT UP, THE WOBBLE IN THE FRONT END IS A CONSTANT, NOT JUST ON TURNS. I FEEL AS IF THE AXLES WILL BREAK APART WHILE DRIVING. I DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER CAR THAT I CAN USE. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR SELLING CARS WITH A KNOWN DEFECT AND FORCING A BUYER TO PLACE THEIR LIFE IN JEOPARDY. OTHER ISSUES HAVE CROPPED UP. ENGINE RACES & DOESN'T ALWAYS SHIFT WHEN IT SHOULD; CRUISE CONTROL NOT CONSISTENT - LOSES SPEED. WHEN RETURNED TO SERVICE, TOLD THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM W/ CRUISE CONTROL, TOLD TRANSMISSION FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY, COMPUTER IS "LEARNING" HOW I DRIVE. BRAKES SQUEAK AFTER RAIN, TOLD NORMAL BY SVC MGR.
CAR TRANSMISSION FAILED, CAUSING US TO GET HIT NUMEROUS TIMES. CAN NOT ACCELERATE WHEN NECESSARY, SOMETIMES IT WILL GO FINE AND OTHER TIMES GAS PEDAL FLOORED AND GO NO WHERE.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT THE 5,000 MILE MARK. TURNER OUT I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE DEALERSHIP INSTALLED ONE FOR ME AND EVER SINCE I GOT IT BACK IT'S NOT THE SAME. MAKES LOUD NOISES WHEN I TURN IT ON, AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T EVEN WANT TO START. ALSO, WHEN I PUSH ON MY BRAKES MY VEHICLE JERKS BACK WHEN I COME TO A STOP.
I WENT OUT TO START MY CAR AT AROUND 8:40AM ON MAY 28. WHEN I PUSHED THE BUTTON TO START IT, I HEARD A POP FOLLOWED BY SMOKE. I THOUGHT MAYBE SOMETHING WAS UNDER THE CAR SO I BACKED UP THE CAR APPROXIMATELY 2 FEET AND THEN TURNED IT OFF. I WENT INSIDE TO GET MY HUSBAND, HE CAME OUT AND OPENED THE HOOD AND I TRIED TO START IT AGAIN. IT STARTED RIGHT UP BUT THERE IMMEDIATELY WAS SMOKE AND FIRE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I TURNED THE CAR RIGHT OFF AFTER MAYBE 5 OR 6 SECONDS. I HAD A MEETING TO GET TO SO I LEFT IN MY HUSBAND'S CAR. WHEN I GOT TO WORK, A RETIRED FIRE FIGHTER SUGGESTED THAT I CALL THE NORWICH TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT. BRIAN BEACH CAME TO INSPECT THE CAR. BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE PLASTIC COVERINGS, IT WAS VERY HARD TO SEE ANYTHING THAT WAS WRONG OTHER THAN MELTED PLASTIC FITTINGS. I HAD THE CAR TOWED (AT MY EXPENSE) TO BYERS ON HAMILTON ROAD. TODAY, I SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER, RON BROWN, WHO SAID THAT HE DIDN'T THINK THAT THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE. HE FEELS THAT THE TENSIONER BELT BROKE AND THAT IS WHY I SMELLED BURNED RUBBER AND THERE WAS SO MUCH SMOKE. EITHER WAY, THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR AND SHOULDN'T BE HAVING ANY ISSUES.
TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED INTERMITTENTLY AS VEHICLE COASTED ALONG FREEWAY. PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF/RESTARTED VEHICLE. TRANSMISSION THEN ENGAGED. TOOK IN FOR SOFTWARE UPGRADE. NO MORE HIGH SPEED ISSUES BUT NOW VEHICLE WILL REV FROM STOP CONDITION BEFORE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES. THIS IS A 9-SPEED TRANSMISSION IN THE NEW 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK.
TWO INCIDENTS JEEP CHEROKEE WAS ON AUTOMATIC CRUISE CONTROL COME TO ALMOST STOP WHEN FRONT CAR TOOK A RIGHT TURN AND THIS CAUSED ALMOST REAR COLLISION. I WAS LIKE 30 FEET AWAY FROM THE FRONT CAR. ANOTHER INCIDENT: THERE WAS NOBODY AROUND ME AND CAR APPLIED BRAKES BY ITSELF AND CAUSES ALMOST PANIC AMONG THE FAMILY MEMBERS IN THE CAR AND REDUCED THE SPEED TO 45MPH.
2015 JEEP CHEROKEE V6 EXHIBITS A VIBRATION OR "SHIMMY" DURING ACCELERATION. VIBRATION OCCURS AT BETWEEN 13-17 MPH JUST PRIOR TO SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR (IN "AUTO" TRANSMISSION MODE). VIBRATION ALWAYS OCCURS, BUT IS MORE PRONOUNCED AS THE DRIVE TRAIN HEATS UP. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM, BUT THAT CHRYSLER HAS YET TO IDENTIFY A DEFINITIVE FIX FOR THE DEFECT.
AFTER DRIVING THE CAR FOR ALMOST A YEAR KEPT NOTICING TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT SMOOTHLY. IT WOULD JERK AND LURCH MAKING ME THINK I WAS NOT APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR CORRECTLY. AFTER SEVERAL (3) COMPLAINTS AND TAKING IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT I DECIDED TO LOOK FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE. IT WAS THEN I FOUND OUT FROM A HONDA DEALER EMPLOYEE THAT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT AGAINST JEEP. THE JEEP IN QUESTION WAS RELEASED WITHOUT ALL THE PROBLEMS WITH THE NINE SPEED TRANSMISSION WORKED OUT. IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING TO BE DRIVING A NEW VEHICLE THAT DOESN'T RUN LIKE ONE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO THE FREEWAY ABOUT 60 - 70 MPH AND THE CAR DID NOT WANT TO SPEED UP, THE GAS PEDAL EVEN THOUGH PUSHED PRETTY HARD DID NOT WANT TO RESPOND THEREFORE I HAD TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE 10 FREEWAY. AFTER TURNING OF THE CAR, AND TURNING OF THE ECO MODE (CAR TURNING OFF AT INTERSECTIONS OR IN TRAFFIC JAMS) AND CONTINUED DRIVING. HOWEVER, DURING THE ECO MODE OFF, THE STALLS HEAVILY DURING GEAR SWITCH, MOST NOTABLY IN THE BEGINNING ONES FOR SPEEDS UP TO 35 MPH. I MADE IT SAFELY HOME. TODAY, MAY 23RD, THE CAR DIED ON ME TWICE DURING INTERSECTIONS WHEN STOPPED AND ECO MODE TURNED ON. EVENTUALLY I HAD TO RETURN HOME AND NOT CONTINUE DRIVING IT. THE CAR HAS BARELY 1800 MILES AND I DO NOT USE IT FOR OFF-ROADING, JUST FOR REGULAR COMMUTE. PLEASE ADVISE WHAT CAN I DO YET THE FREEWAY INCIDENT REALLY MADE ME AFFRAID OF DRIVING IT AT HIGHER SPEEDS AND IN GENERAL TRAFFIC.
PURCHASED A NEW 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE 4/9/15. IN MAY (APPROX 700 MILES) I STATED TO NOTICE A WOBBLE WHEN ACCELERATING & THE VEHICLE LUNGED WHEN STOPPING & STARTING. THE LUNGE WAS SO POWERFUL THAT I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. TOOK IN FOR SERVICE 5/29. THEY REPROGRAMMED THE TCM MODULE. WOBBLE CAME BACK & BY JUNE 8TH IT WAS WOBBLING & HESITATING (ONCE IT HAPPENED IN AN INTERSECTION). I CALLED SERVICE DEPT ON JUNE 9TH. TOOK IT IN ON JUN 10TH TO HAVE ONE OF THEIR GUYS TAKE IT FOR A SPIN. WHILE WAITING, THEY TOLD ME JEEPS DO "CERTAIN THINGS OTHER CARS DON'T". I TOLD THEM I SEARCHED THE INTERNET & APPARENTLY THERE IS A KNOW PROBLEM & BROUGHT A PRINTOUT OF SOME OF THE OTHER CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS. THEY SAID "CAN'T GO BY THAT"... I RODE WITH THEIR TECH & HE SAID HE NEVER FELT ANYTHING LIKE THAT. HE GOT HIS SERVICE MANAGER SO THEY GO TAKE IT FOR A RIDE TOGETHER. THEY REPLACED THE AXLES (6/12) BUT SAID THE WOBBLE IS STILL THERE. THEY'D CONTACTED CHRYSLER VIA EMAIL & WAS TOLD NOT TO DUMP ANYMORE PARTS IN THE VEHICLE. THEY KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS (BUT THEY WOULDN'T TELL THE DEALER) & A TCB WAS COMING OUT IN AUG. THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE UNTIL THEN. THEY SAID (IN THEIR EMAIL) THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. REALLY? TOOK CAR BACK ON 7/3. WORK WAS DONE THE SAME DAY, THEY REPROGRAMMED THE TCM AGAIN. ON THE WAY HOME I STOPPED TO GET GAS & WHEN LEAVING THE GAS STATION THE CAR LUNGED ME INTO THE ROAD! BY 7/7 THE WOBBLE WAS MORE INTENSE. BY 7/8 CAR WAS SLOW TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, COULD BARELY KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC. CALLED CASE MANAGER ON 7/9 SAID WHATEVER THEY DID MADE IT WORSE. HIS SOLUTION WAS TO TAKE BACK IN FOR SERVICE BECAUSE I CAN'T DRIVE A CAR LIKE THAT! HE CALLED TO MAKE APPOINTMENT AND THE EARLIEST THEY HAD WAS 7/20 (11 DAYS LATER). THESE CARS ARE UNSAFE & SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT! PLEASE DO SOMETHING!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,900. MA 10/6 UPDATED 11/16/2017*CN
CAR UPDATED ON 5/20/15 WITH LATEST TSB 21-21-15A FOR TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. CAR NOW SKIPS 2ND GEAR WHEN DOWNSHIFTING (COASTING). ON ROLLING STOPS THE CAR IS STUCK ON 3RD GEAR CAUSING LACK OF ACCELERATION WHILE TRAFFIC BEHIND EXPECTS CAR TO GET MOVING (HIGHWAY ENTRY RAMP). IF GAS IS FLOORED CAR FINALLY REACTS AND SKIPS TO 1ST CAUSING WHEELSPIN. CAR HAS SLID DURING WET CONDITIONS. WITH SNOW THIS CAN BE LETHAL. CAR DID NOT SKIP 2ND GEAR BEFORE TSB. DEALER ADVISED THIS BEHAVIOR IS THE NEW STANDARD.
VEHICLE HAS NOTICEABLE FRONT END SHIMMY IN LOW GEAR THAT ONLY GOES AWAY AFTER SHIFTING TO SECOND GEAR. DEALER HAS NO FIX AT THIS TIME.
THANK YOU!! THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED AT 304 MILES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STARTED SHAKING AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY. HAD THE TRUCK TOWED IN AND THEY ADVISED AT FIRST THAT THE UPPER HEAD OF THE ENGINE BLEW, AFTER SPEAKING WITH MY CUSTOMER RESOLUTION REP (CASE NUMBER: [XXX]) THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME AGAIN AND ADVISED IT WAS JUST A BAD SPARK PLUG AND THEY FIXED IT. THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED ABOUT A WEEK AFTER THIS SERVICE I TOOK A 200 MILE TRIP TO PA TO VISIT FAMILY AND ON THE WAY BACK FROM THIS TRIP THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I CHECKED THE OIL LEVELS AND THERE WAS NOTHING ON THE MEASURING STICK. HAD TO CAR TOWED AGAIN AND THIS TIME BAYSIDE CHRYSLER ADVISED THE O-RING WENT ON THE CAR AND THAT IT WAS REPLACED/FIXED. AFTER THE O-RING SERVICE THE CAR IS STILL LOOSING OIL BUT I CAN'T SMELL IS BURNING AND THERE IS NOTHING UNDER THE CAR AFTER LEAVING A PARKING SPOT. HOWEVER, WHEN THE CAR FIRST STARTS BLUE SMOKE COMES OUT OF THE EXHAUST AND THE ENGINE KNOCKS/TICS A BIT UPON STARTING BUT THAT STOPS AFTER THE OIL HITS THE ENGINE I GUESS. ON 8/5/2015 I STARTED THE CAR AFTER WORK AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND FLASHING AGAIN AND THE CAR BEGAN SHAKING. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN THIS MORNING FOR SERVICE. THE ABOVE COVERS THE ENGINE ISSUES. TWO WEEKS AGO AT A STOP SIGN I STEPPED ON THE GAS BUT THE ENGINE JUST REVVED FOR A FEW SECONDS FOLLOWED BY THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGING. SINCE THEN THE TRANSMISSION HAS NOT BEEN SHIFTING NORMALLY. THE TRANSMISSION HAS NOT FAILED YET BUT IT APPEARS IT'S ON ITS WAY. CURRENTLY THE CAR HAS 2,400 MILES ON IT. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I'VE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH MANY OTHER ON FORUMS AND THESE PEOPLE HAVE FAMILY'S/SMALL CHILDREN AS DO I. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THESE CARS. VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH THE COLLISON AVOIDANCE SYSTEM. ON THE DATE OF THE ACCIDENT THE SYSTEM FAILED TO WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELLING WESTBOUND BETWEEN 5-7 MPH AT A HIGH SCHOOL PARKING LOT, THE COLLISON AVOIDANCE SYSTEM WAS ON, THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE STRUCK THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE SYSTEM DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE SUFFERED 3000.00 DOLLARS OF FRONTEND DAMAGE. AFTER VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, OWNER OF VEHICLE CONDUCTED TESTS OF THE COLLISON AVOIDANCE SYSTEM AT 5, 10, AND 15 MPH WITH LARGE OBJECTS (BOXES) PLACED AT MINIMUM OF 100 FEET FROM THE VEHICLE. THE SYSTEM NEVER DEPLOYED AND THE OBJECTS WERE STRUCK. AT THE TIME OF THE TEST JEEP INFORMED OWNER ALL SYSTEMS, INCLUDING WERE FIXED AND FULLY FUNCTIONAL. ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS BETWEEN THE FOLLOWING DATES JUNE 26-JULY 05, 2015 THE COLLISON AVOIDANCE SYSTEM ACTIVATED WITH NO OBJECTIVES IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AT DISTANCE GREATER THAN 200 FEET. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELLING ON TWO OCCASIONS ON CITY STREETS AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH AND ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWN SHIFTS ERRATICALLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE, IT BEGAN TO INCREASE IN SPEED SURGING FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED . THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,000.......UPDATED 12/17/15 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED CHRYSLER AGREED TO PURCHASE THE VEHICLE BACK HIM. UPDATED 12/21/15. *JB.........UPDATED 01/06/16 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION. IF SHIFTER ERRATICALLY IN ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS, SOMETIMES DOWN SHIFTING TO A LOW GEAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND SURGED FORWARD ON ITS OWN WHEN SLOWING DOWN FOR A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. THREE UPGRADES WERE PERFORMED. HOWEVER, THE UPGRADES DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER WENT TO ANOTHER DEALER, BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEPT ILLUMINATING, WHICH WAS DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS AN INTERNAL PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION. HOWEVER, CHRSYLER OFFERED TO PURCHASE THE VEHICLE BACK FROM THE CONSUMER, IN WHICH HE ACCEPTED. UPDATED 01/11/16.*JB
THE TRANSMISSION SUFFERS FROM HARD SHIFTS AND DELAYED SHIFTING. THIS OCCURS WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, PARK TO DRIVE, ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AND ACCELERATING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE DELAYED SHIFTING OR HESITATION IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVERS OF THIS VEHICLE AND OTHERS AS IT CAUSES THE DRIVER OF THE JEEP CHEROKEE TO UNINTENTIONALLY LURCH INTO TRAFFIC. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC. IN THESE SITUATIONS WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS DEPRESSED THE ENGINE REVS AND BECOMES LOUD BUT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE- VERY SIMILAR TO IF ONE PRESSED THE GAS WHILE IN NEUTRAL. THIS HESITATION LASTS A FEW TO SEVERAL SECONDS DURING WHICH TIME ONCOMING TRAFFIC THAT WAS A SAFE DISTANCE AWAY WHEN THE TURN WAS INITIATED HAS BECOME DANGEROUSLY CLOSE. THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY ENGAGES AND PROPELS THE VEHICLE INTO THE PATH OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT BUT FREQUENT. BEFORE IT GAVE OUT I NOTICED THAT THE RPM METER WAS AT 5000 AT 55 MPH THEN IT SLIPPED . I THEN COASTED INTO THE CENTER LANE IN TRAFFIC TO TURN IT OFF HOPING TO RESET IT, IT ALLOWED ME TO TAKE IT HOME BEFORE IT GAVE OUT AGAIN. IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. I WAS PAINED TO HEAR OF VERY SIMILAR STORIES FROM OTHER BRAND NEW JEEP OWNERS AS THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM.

AFTER INSISTING THEY TEST DRIVE AGAIN AND PUT ON RACK TO VISUALLY INSPECT, THE DEALER CLAIMED NOTHING WRONG. I CONTACTED MANAGER AND EXPRESSED MY DISSATISFACTION WITH THE SERVICE AND KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG. AFTER HAVING HIM GO ON A TEST DRIVE WITH ME, HE AGREED THEIR WAS A PROBLEM AND NOISE FROM FRONT STRUTS. ONLY THEN, WOULD THEY AGREE TO ORDER AND REPLACE THE RIGHT FRONT SHOCK. I'VE HAD NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO FIX OTHER ITEMS ON THIS VEHICLE, INCLUDING ASKING FOR ANY RECALL INFO TO BE CHECKED, AND THE DEALER SAID "IF YOU DIDN'T GET A CARD IN THE MAIL, THERE'S NO RECALLS". NOW I SEE THERE'S A RECALL ON THE POWER REAR LIFT GATE THAT I'VE HAD THERE WITH PROBLEMS OPENING, THEY HAVE NOT CONTACTED ME YET, ACCORDING TO RECALL R27, AND HAVE NOT FOUND ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT!
AT TIMES, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SHIFT SO HARD THAT IT FELT LIKE I HAD BEEN HIT FROM THE REAR. THEY HAD AN ALERT ABOUT A COMPUTER PROBLEM. AS I DROVE HOME, IT DID IT AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER TO SEE IF THEY WOULD HAVE ANY LUCK. IT SEEMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR A WHILE. THE HARD SHIFTING INCIDENTS WERE GREATLY REDUCED. THEN WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM HIGHLAND, I NOTICED SOME HESITATION IN THE SHIFTING. A FEW BLOCKS FROM MY HOUSE, THE ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND AN ALERT TO SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION CAME ON. JUST BEFORE I PULLED ON TO MY STREET I FELT AND HEARD THREE LOUD BANGS THAT AGAIN MADE THE CAR JERK LIKE IT HAD BEEN HIT FROM THE REAR. AS I TOOK OFF FROM A STOP, IT FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. IT JUST WOULDN'T GO. I PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE CAR, I NOTICED AN ODOR LIKE BURNT OIL. I CALLED ROYAL GATE AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN. TRIP NUMBER 4 FOR THE TRANSMISSION. NO PROBLEMS ON THE WAY THERE. A WEEK LATER, I GOT MY CAR BACK. AGAIN, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A COMPUTER PROBLEM. I GOT HOME AND WHEN I WAS BACKING INTO THE DRIVEWAY, I HEARD AND FELT ANOTHER BANG. I CALLED ROYAL GATE AGAIN. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE NINE SPEED TRANSMISSION. THEN WHILE ON MY WAY BACK FROM AN APPOINTMENT, THERE WAS MORE SLIPPING. ON 10-01-16, I PICKED UP MY CAR FOR THE SIXTH TIME. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH THE STORE MANAGER. WHILE WAITING, ONE OF THE SALES PEOPLE ASKED ME WHAT I NEEDED. I TOLD HIM THAT I WAS PICKING UP MY JEEP CHEROKEE FOR THE SIXTH TIME. HE LAUGHED AND SAID, 'TRANSMISSION?' THE MANAGER WAS TOO BUSY TO TALK TO ME. HE WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A DEAL. THE LAST TIME THAT I BROUGHT THE CAR IN, TWO OF THE SERVICE PEOPLE WITNESSED ALL OF THE PROBLEMS THAT I BROUGHT IT IN FOR. NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN, NO ONE CAN FIND THE PROBLEM.

THE BACKUP CAMERA FAILED, THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY WOULD LOCK OUT AND OTHER ELECTRONIC MALFUNCTIONS PLAGUED THE VEHICLE. AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY (CRUISE CONTROL), I RAISED MY RIGHT KNEE WHICH ACCIDENTALLY BUMPED THE IGNITION KEY WHICH TURNED THE CAR OFF. UNACCEPTABLE FOR A MODERN, NEW DESIGNED CAR. FEELS LIKE A SAFETY RISK, BUT DEALER REFUSES TO HELP. SHOULDN'T I FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY NEW CAR?
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR ALL DAY LONG THE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND OFF AFTER PICKING UP MY CHILDREN SHE WAS GOING BY THE DEALERSHIP AND DECIDED TO TURN IN BECAUSE THE BRAKES WERE ACTING FUNNY AND HAS SHE GOT INTO THE DEALERSHIP SHE HAD A TOTAL BREAKDOWN YOU'RE THE GUY LOOKING AT THE CAR WAS IN AMAZEMENT THAT SHE MADE IT THERE SAFELY HE HAD NO IDEA HOW SHE MADE IT THERE SAFELY. *TR
THE VEHICLE HAS A VERY DANGEROUS HESITATION. IT DOES NOT DOWNSHIFT PROPERLY WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE.. THIS MAKES ANY LANE CHANGE, HIGHWAY APPROACH, TURN, OR EMRGENCY MANUEVER EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THIS VEHICLE CAN'T BE SAFELY DRIVEN IN TRAFFIC, OR TAKEN OFF ROAD AS DESIGNED. FCA HAS NOT REMEDIED THE IISSUE AND HAS MADE THE VEHICLE WORSE WITH THEIR LATEST UPDATES. THIS HAPPENS EVERY SINGLE TIME THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN.IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP TWICE FOR REPAIRS. THE EXCUSE IS IT IS OPREATING AS DESIGNED. IN ESSENCE A POOR DESIGN IS SOMTHING WE HAVE TO LIVE WITH AND BE OKAY WITH DRIVING IN DANGER? THIS IS A SAFETY HAZZARD THAT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. THE PUBLIC SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE VEHICLE DANGER BEFORE THEY DECIDE TO PURCHASE ONE
WHILE IN MOTION; WHEN REMOVING FOOT FROM ACCELLERATOR TO COAST OR BRAKE, BUT BEFORE APPLYING BRAKE, VEHICLE BOLTS FORWARD AND ACCELERATES. THIS COULD BE A HAZZARD IN ICE OR SNOW OR CLOSE TRAFFIC. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. NOTED TO DEALER AND THEY STATED ITS A KNOWN ISSUE NOTHING THEY CAN DO! HAPPENS ALL THE TIME BUT ESP ON DOWNHILL; GOOGLE AND LOTS OF COMPLAINTS!
MY VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY "CLUNCKS" WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN CERTAIN GEARS. HAPPENS DAILY NOW AND IS VERY UNSETTLING BECAUSE THERE IS A LOSS OF POWER/ACCELERATION WHEN IT HAPPENS. STARTED WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN 3RD AND 4TH BUT NOW DOES IT FROM 1ST TO 2ND. DEALERSHIP IS WELL AWARE, SAY THERE ARE ABOUT 2-3000 JEEPS OUT THERE DOING THE SAME THING BUT THEY WON'T FIX IT BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOESN'T COME ON AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHICH PART IS BROKEN/FAILING.
WHEN BRAKES ARE PRESSED THE ENGINE REVS UP, AND JERKS, THE RPMS SHOT UP, THEN PLUMMET, AND THE POWER SURGES, AND YOU FEEL THE CAR STRUGGLE TO FIND THE CORRECT GEAR. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON, CANNOT BE RESET BY DEALER WHEN AT A STOP AND GOING UP INCLINE, NO POWER AT ALL MAY 1. 2015 BROUGHT TO DEALER. HOOKED UP TO COMPUTER, AN HOUR LATER DEALER RETURNS TELLING THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDS PARTS. THEY ARE BACK ORDERED. WE ARE SENT HOME WITH A UNSAFE VEHICLE TOLD TO COME BACK IN FOUR WEEKS. *TR
I AM WRITING TO EXPRESS A "SAFETY ISSUE" RELATING TO THE PUSH BUTTON START OUR NEW VEHICLE. WHILE WE ARE VERY HAPPY WITH OUR VEHICLE, WE RECENTLY HAD A SCARE WITH IT. BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I ARE HEARING IMPAIRED & I FEEL IT IS A SAFETY RISK TO HAVE A PUSH BUTTON START VEHICLE AS NUMBER ONE WE PARK OUR JEEP IN OUR ATTACHED GARAGE. IT CAN BE EASY TO FORGET TO PUSH THE ENGINE OFF & IT HAS HAPPENED ONCE ALREADY AND WE WERE LUCKY TO CATCH IT WITHIN SEVERAL MINUTES DUE TO GOING BACK OUT TO THE GARAGE TO GET SOMETHING. WE DO HAVE A REMOTE START ON OUR VEHICLE AS WELL. WHEN WE RECENTLY WENT ON VACATION, DUE TO BEING IN A RUSH THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TURNED OFF & IT APPEARS TO HAVE RAN UNTIL IT RAN OUT OF GAS. IT DID START WHEN WE ARRIVED BACK A WEEK LATER, BUT WE DID NOT MAKE IT TO THE GAS STATION BEFORE IT RAN COMPLETELY OUT OF GAS. WHY CAN'T THE ENGINE SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN IF THE KEY FOB IS MORE THAN FIVE OR TEN FEET AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE? (OR SIMILAR WITH THE REMOTE START BEING WITHIN SO MANY FEET TO START, WHY NOT ALSO SHUT DOWN AS WELL AS START?)
TRANSMISSION FAILED TO ENGAGE, CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, NARROWLY AVOIDED ACCIDENT. *TR
BACKED OUT OF BUSINESS DRIVEWAY ONTO BUSY STREET AND PLACED VEHICLE INTO DRIVE, AS I DEPRESSED THE GAS PEDAL THE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE APPLIED ITSELF AND VEHICLE STAYED IN PLACE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS UNTIL BRAKE RELEASED ITSELF. NEARLY GOT REAR ENDED BY APPROACHING TRAFFIC FROM REAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND COULD BE A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. *TR
I OWN A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE 4X4 (2.4L/4 CYL). I'VE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE NEW AUTOMATIC 9-SPEED TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WILL LUNGE FORWARD WHILE DECELERATING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 20-25 MPH. ONCE THE SPEEDOMETER REACHES 20 MPH, THE RPM'S SPIKE AND VEHICLE ACCELERATES (LUNGES) FORWARD. IN ADDITION WHILE ACCELERATING TO 55-60 MPH THE RPM'S REV AT A HIGHER RATE 3000-3500 RPM RANGE AND WILL NOT CLICK INTO GEAR PROPERLY. I TOOK MY JEEP BACK TO THE DEALER ON 4-25-15 AND AFTER A TEST DRIVE AND DIAGNOSIS THEY DECIDED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. I RECEIVED MY JEEP BACK ON MONDAY MAY 4TH AND IT STILL HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I AM CONCERNED ABOUT HITTING ANOTHER CAR WHILE DECELERATING TOWARDS A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. AS SOON AS THE JEEP HITS 20 MPH, THE RPM'S SPIKE AND CAR WANTS TO GO FASTER. *TR
SHORTLY AFTER BUYING MY 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT WITH THE 2.4 ENGINE AND 9 SPEED AUTOMATIC, IT BEGAN SHIFTING ERRATICALLY. IN TOWN IT WOULD HESITATE WHEN LEAVING A STOP LIGHT OR JERK VIOLENTLY WHILE CHANGING GEARS. ON THE HIGHWAY, IT WOULD NOT DOWNSHIFT ON INCLINES OR TO PASS AND MERGE WITH TRAFFIC. I HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS WHERE I HAD TO ACCELERATE BUT NOTHING HAPPENED WHEN PUTTING THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. THIS HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOUR TIMES JUST FOR THIS PROBLEM ALONE AND AS OF THIS WRITING, IS STILL NOT ANY BETTER. IT HAS ALSO HAD OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE THERMOSTAT AND INTERIOR. I WORK IN THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY AND KNOW FROM RESOURCES THAT THIS IS A SIMPLE FIX. FCA IS GIVING THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THE RUNAROUND AND ANGERING DEALERSHIPS BY NOT BEING HONEST. THE 4 CYLINDER ENGINE WILL NO LONGER MEET THE REPORTED MPG IT WAS CLAIMED TO AFTER THE SHIFT PROFILES CHANGE AND THIS PUTS FCA IN A POSITION THAT VOLKSWAGEN RECENTLY DEALT WITH. MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF THOUSANDS IS NOT WORTH 3 MPG. FCA IS ALSO TREATING CUSTOMERS AS IF EACH CASE IS INDIVIDUALLY UNIQUE AND IT BELITTLES THEM AS WELL AS THE MECHANICS THAT KNOW REPAIRS ARE FUTILE. I HAVE A CASE NUMBER NOW AND ANOTHER APPOINTMENT BUT IT WOULD BE BEST TO AVOID THIS VEHICLE AT ALL COSTS AND ARBITRATE. THERE SHOULD BE A FEDERAL INVESTIGATION BEFORE SOMEONE DIES IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY. THE THERMOSTAT FAILURE IS ALSO WIDESPREAD AND IS ONLY BEING ADDRESSES ONE AT A TIME IN FIELD CLAIMS. THIS TOO COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS DAMAGE AND EVEN FIRE WHICH HAS ALSO HAPPENED TO A FEW OF THESE VEHICLES. PLEASE HELP US BE A VOICE AND STOP THIS SERIOUS DISREGARD FOR SAFETY AND CONSUMER RIGHTS.
SHORTLY BEFORE REACHING HER DESTINATION, THE DRIVER OF OUR VEHICLE SMELLED AN ODOR, BUT COULDN'T DETERMINE WHAT IT WAS. SHE CONTINUED ONTO HER DESTINATION AS IT WAS JUST UP THE STREET. SHE PARKED THE VEHICLE AND WAS PREPARING TO EXIT. BEFORE SHE COULD EXIT THE VEHICLE, A WITNESS SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. SHE QUICKLY EXITED THE VEHICLE AND SAW THE SMOKE. THE SMOKE THEN TURNED BLACK AND SHE SAW FLAMES. THE VEHICLE THEN BURST INTO FLAMES. *TR
VEHICLE STARTED DISPLAYING MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT (MIL) & HAD ERROR CODES U0402 & U1424. DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED RECALL R01 - FLASH OF TCM & PCM (TOOK ABOUT 3 HOURS). IN JUNE, I RECEIVED NOTICE OF RECALL R05, WHICH I HAD PERFORMED & ALSO ADVISED DEALERSHIP OF MIL LIGHT ( SAME ERROR CODES U0402 &U1424). DEALER PERFORMED R05 SERVICE & CLEARED ERROR CODES & ADVISED I SHOULD HAVE NO FURTHER ISSUES. JULY 2, THE MIL & THE START/STOP ERROR LIGHT CAME ON. THIS WAS APPROXIMATELY 11, 800 MILES. THE LIGHTS WENT OFF AFTER MULTIPLE DRIVE CYCLES OVER 4 DAYS, BUT CAME BACK ON MONDAY. I CALLED A LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP & GOT AN APPOINTMENT FOR SATURDAY, 7/11/15. BETWEEN MONDAY & THE APPOINTMENT, THE MIL & START/STOP ERROR LIGHTS WENT OFF AND CAME BACK ON AFTER MULTIPLE DRIVE CYCLES. THIS HAPPENED 5 TIMES BETWEEN 7/2 & 7/11. EACH TIME, THE ERROR CODES WERE U0402 AND U1424. THE DEALER COULD NOT SEE THAT THE TCM & PCM FLASHES HAD BEEN DONE, SO THEY WERE DONE AGAIN (ALMOST 3 HOURS TO COMPLETE). I WAS ADVISED THIS SHOULD RESOLVE THE ISSUE. SEVERAL DRIVE CYCLES & 2 DAYS LATER, THE SAME 2 LIGHTS ARE BACK ON WITH THE SAME 2 ERROR CODES & I HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK FOR THE 4TH TIME FOR THE SAME MALFUNCTION ERROR CODES. SINCE THIS IS TRANSMISSION-RELATED, I HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE AT THIS POINT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT PROPERLY TO SPEED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER 2,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
