PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT HOME ON 9/15/14. WHEN I PUT PASSENGER IN AND THEY CONNECTED THE SEAT BELT, THE LIGHT ON THE DASH AND CHIME BEGAN TO NOTIFY THE SEAT BELT WAS NOT CONNECTED. TESTED THIS FOR SEVERAL DAYS WITH DIFFERENT PEOPLE. BROUGHT VEHICLE DEALERSHIP ON 10/4/14, AND THEY HOOKED UP TO COMPUTER AND FOUND CODE FOR MALFUNCTIONING SEAT BELT IN COMPUTER. TOLD ME IT WOULD TAKE A FEW DAYS TO GET PART. IT HAS NOW BEEN ALMOST A MONTH, AND I AM UNABLE TO PUT A PASSENGER IN MY BRAND NEW VEHICLE DUE TO THE FACT THE SEAT BELT IS NOT FUNCTIONING, AND MUST BE BY LAW. *TR
THE VEHICLE STOP/START FEATURE ACTIVATES ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IN TRAFFIC CONGESTION WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, AT A STOP SIGN, OR AT A RED LIGHT; PERIODICALLY, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IS ALSO ACTIVATED AND DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO TURN IT OFF AND PROCEED UNLESS I REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY, INSERT IT, AND THEN RESTART THE CAR. ONLY THEN, WILL IT ALLOW ME TO TURN OFF THE ELECTRIC EMERGENCY BRAKE AND MOVE INTO TRAFFIC. MY FAMILY AND I HAVE BEEN IN DANGER FROM OTHER VEHICLES ON THE HIGHWAY, AT RED LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS, BECAUSE OF MY CAR STALLING, IN THIS MANNER. THE STOP/START FEATURE PLACES ME AND MY OCCUPANTS IN DANGER OF COLLISION FROM OTHER MOTORIST. I HAVE REPORTED IT TO WHITTEN BROTHERS, LOCAL JEEP DEALER, SEVERAL TIMES, HOWEVER, THEY DISCREDIT THE COMPLAINT AND I BELIEVE THEY DO NOT DOCUMENT IT.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT DURING A TURN AND I ALMOST LOST CONTROL. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. RACK AND PINION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED IS WHAT I'M BEING TOLD FROM MY SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I'M WAITING FOR VEHICLE TO BE FIXED BUT AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT NOW. I ONLY HAD IT FOR 10 DAYS BEFORE THE INCIDENT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I FEAR I MAY HAVE A CRASH AND IT MAY HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAVE NO TRUST IN DRIVING THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS COULD HAPPEN TO A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 175 MILES ON IT. *TR
I RECENTLY LEASED A NEW 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE WITH SAFETY PACKAGE AND FCW SYSTEM. WHEN I TOOK VEHICLE HOME I REALIZED THAT THE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM WAS NOT ENGAGING IE: NO AUDIBLE AND NO VISUAL ALERTS SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK TO SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES FOR RE-CALIBRATION BUT THEY CANT GET THE SYSTEM TO WORK AS DESIGNED OR ADVERTISED. I AM WAITING FOR THE SERVICE TECH TO GET BACK TO ME WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AS HE WAS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE AND OVERHEAD SUPPORT ROM JEEP. ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE TECH ALOT OF THESE VEHICLES ARE EXPERIENCING SIMILAR ISSUES. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ISSUE AND REAL SAFETY CONCERN. IF FOLKS ARE RELYING ON THIS SYSTEM THEY MAY BE AT RISK. *TR
AFTER USING THE AUTOMATIC REMOTE STARTER I GET IN THE VEHICLE AND PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND TURN IT TO THE "ON" SETTING. I THEN DRIVE THE VEHICLE. A SOME POINT IN THE TRIP WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE ENGINE TURNS OFF AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IS AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGED. IN ORDER TO DRIVE AGAIN I HAVE TO TURN THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION, PUT IT IN PARK, TURN THE IGNITION BACK ON, TURN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE OFF, AND THEN PUT IT IN DRIVE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT WAS NOT ALIGNED TO THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE SEAT WAS TO THE RIGHT OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE SEAT TRACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400.
BOUGHT 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT WAS SO EXCITED TO OWN MY FIRST JEEP AFTER 600 MILES TRANSMISSION FAILED AND HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED I WAS WITHOUT IT FOR 23 DAYS. AFTER I GOT IT BACK AND NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION EITHER LUNGES FORWARD WHEN MAKING A TURN OR LOOSES POWER AND REVES UP THEN ENGAGES TOOK IT BACK AND DEALER SAYS WE ARE AWARE OF PROBLEM BUT THERE IS NOT A UPDATE OR FIX FOR THAT.... I HAVE NEVER FELT MORE UNSAFE OR UNSURE ABOUT DRIVING OR TRUSTING A VEHICLE THAN I DO NOW. I HAVE BEEN BACK TO DEALER TO HAVE MANY UPDATES/RECALLS DONE AND TCM HAD TO BE REPLACED NOT JUST UPDATED... I WISH I NEVER PURCHASED A JEEP . O YEAH I ALMOST FORGOT THE WASHER FLUID LIQUID HOUSING CONTAINER IS LEAKING TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAID IT HAS A CRACK IN IT DEFECTIVE SO THEY NEED TO ORDER A NEW ONE...... UGGHH WHAT NEXT?
9 SPEED TRANSMISSION IS UNRELIABLE AND VERY ROUGH TO DRIVE. WON'T SHIFT UP WHEN IT NEEDS TO, ON OCCASIONS SLAMS INTO GEAR ESPECIALLY FROM 3RD TO 4TH JERKING THE VEHICLE WHEN IT DOES AND DOWNSHIFTS ROUGHLY. THE SOFTWARE HAS BEEN UPDATED TWICE BUT PROBLEMS REMAIN. DEALERSHIPS SAY THAT THERE IS NOTHING MORE THAT CAN BE DONE. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING OVER THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE.
WE BOUGHT OUR 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE NEW. AFTER ABOUT 6 MONTHS WE HAD OUR FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH THE VEHICLES FAILURE TO SHIFT TO THE NECESSARY GEAR TO CONTINUE TO MOVE. WE HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE FIXED MULTIPLE TIMES. WE ARE OFTEN GIVEN MULTIPLE STORIES OF WHAT THE PROBLEM IS FROM THE AC BEING ON TO NEEDING A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND BEING LOW ON FUEL! THE "STICKING TRANSMISSION" CREATED A VERY SCARY SITUATION WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO GET THE CAR TO GO IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AND IT WON'T GO! THE VEHICLE DOESN'T APPEAR TO DOWNSHIFT AS I SLOW DOWN AND WHEN YOU GO TO ACCELERATE, IT'S ALMOST AS IF THE CAR GETS STUCK BETWEEN GEARS AND THEN JERKS REALLY HARD WHEN IT UNEXPECTEDLY GOES INTO GEAR. I AM VERY WORRIED I AM GOING TO NEED TO MOVE QUICKLY AND THE CAR ISN'T GOING TO GO, RESULTING IN A BAD ACCIDENT.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED. I PUT VEHICLE INTO REVERSE AND ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON - SERVICE TRANSMISSION/SERVICE PARK BREAK/ENGINE LIGHT. TURNED OFF VEHICLE, TURN BACK ON AND VEHICLE JOLTED AND WOULD NOT MOVE. TURNED OFF AGAIN AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW HOURS. STARTED THE VEHICLE AND ALL LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED (PARK BRAKE AND CHECK ENGINE) BUT VEHICLE RUNS. TOOK TO DEALER, THEY DID AN UPDATE TO THE COMPUTER. HAPPENED AGAIN AROUND 8200 MILES - SAME RESULT FROM DEALER (UPDATE TO COMPUTER). TOOK TO DEALER A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES - THE THIRD TIME WARRANTED A FULL TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. VEHICLE STILL DOES NOT DRIVE PROPERLY - HARD SHIFTS, ESPECIALLY WHEN DECCELERATING.
I HAD THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPROGRAMMED AS PER THEIR RECALL AND AFTER PICKING IT UP I WAS DRIVING HOME AND MAKING A LEFT TURN AT A BUSY INTERSECTION AND PUSHED ON THE GAS AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE VEHICLE LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN A HIGH GEAR AND HAD NOT SHIFTED DOWN. THE LIGHT TURNED RED AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE CAR TO RESPOND WAS TO FLOOR IT AND THE IT SHIFTED REALLY HARD AND TOOK OFF. IT HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS AND WE HAVE TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND THEY DID ANOTHER REPROGRAM ON IT AND NOW IT HAS A BAD LAG TIME WHEN YOU HAVE TO SHIFT IT ALL THE WAY DOWN SUCH AS TO PASS A CAR. THE DEALERSHIP ADMITTED THAT JEEP WAS HAVING ISSUES AND THAT HE HAD ANOTHER CAR IDENTICAL TO MINE COMING INTO THE SHOP THAT DAY. PEOPLE ARE GOING TO GET KILLED WITH THESE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. I AM AN AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN FOR 40 YEARS AND DRIVING MY OWN CAR SCARES ME REAL BAD. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE WE LIVE IN A SNOWY CLIMATE AND I WANTED MY WIFE TO HAVE THE BEST FOUR WHEELER AVAILABLE. THE DEALER SAID THAT CHRYSLER HAS FIVE MEN WORKING ON THIS PROGRAMMING ISSUE AND I THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE A HUNDRED. PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DYE AND THIS PROBLEM IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET. I HOPE THAT THIS WILL RESOLVE FASTER THAN THE TOYOTA ISSUES THAT KILLED A LOT OF PEOPLE AND INJURED MANY MORE. *TR
AFTER A SIMPLE FIRST REQUIRED SERVICE OF AN OIL CHANGE, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE LEARNED THAT THIS ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON WAS THE RESULT OF THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT PERFORMING A RECALL CAMPAIGN SERVICE TO REPROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION AND POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULES. THE CAMPAIGN TO REPROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULES WAS COMPLETED, WITHOUT OUR KNOWLEDGE, DURING THE TIME THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOR THE OIL CHANGE. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE MORE IN TWO DAYS TO "FIGURE OUT" WHY THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS COMING ON. THE DEALER IS NOW REPLACING THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. *TR
THE NINE SPEED TRANSMISSION IS HORRIBLE AT LOWER GEARS. THE ACCELERATED TRANSITION BETWEEN SECOND AND THIRD GEAR CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION TO SLIP AND LUNGE THE CAR FORWARD. ANOTHER ISSUE IS DURING A YIELD INTERSECTION THE TRANSMISSION EITHER DOESN'T ENGAGE, STAYS AT THE LOWER GEAR OR SLIPS FOLLOW BY A LUNGE. MY FATHER PURCHASED A CHRYSLER SOME 30 YEARS AGO AND VOWED HE WOULD NEVER REPEAT THAT MISTAKE - THE CAR WON'T RUN IN THE RAIN AND TRANSMISSION DROPPED. HE LAUGH WHEN I PURCHASE THE JEEP SHOULD HAVE LISTEN TO HIM. I TOO VOW NEVER TO PURCHASE ANOTHER CHRYSLER PRODUCT.
WITH THE CRUSE CONTROL ON AND SET AT 60MPG WHEN GOING DOWN A HILL IT PICKS UP SPEED TO OVER 70MPH. GOING UP HILL IT VARIES AS MUCH AS 4MPH. THE CRUSE CONTROL DOES NOT CONTROL THE SPEED AS IT SHOULD, VERY DANGEROUS!
