Transmission is failing to function properly. Between gears 1-2, 2-3. I have noticed this when the ESS for the vehicle is engaged, during slow moving traffic, uphill and in reverse. The vehicle is sluggish, won't go forward when given gas, then surges. This has caused issues for my family when crossing busy intersections or coming to slow moving traffic or having to get up to speed adequately. There has been hesitation in the transmission which creates hesitation on the road, resulting in many "almost accidents." I am booking an appointment to have the vehicle inspected by a Jeep dealer. I've contacted the original dealer I've purchased from and they said there was nothing they could do. I have not seen any warning lights, messages or flashes come through on the dash/vehicle. I will be hooking it up to a code reader to determine if there is an underlying code. I have only had this vehicle for two weeks.
service shifter light went on and off for about a month. then one day went over a speed bump. and ever since then the message doesnt go away. ive cleared the codes had it flashed change fuses. and nothing. EVeryone has the same complaints about it and jeep dealerships dont take it serious. its a problem when i can see the speedometer or fuel range. or any other lights or warnings becuase that message wont go away.
i was driving my son to school one day about 2 months ago maybe longer and all of a sudden out of no where the car shuts off saying low oil pressure. i changed out the sensor. thinking that would fix the problem. well that sure isnt the case. i burn a quart of oil 3rd or 4rh day of the week evey week taken it in no can find the problem. now i see there a recall say needs a pcm up date. maybe it it fix the problem. probaly not. i think jeep really needs to go over the jeep engines with a pick and comb and find these problems its scary drivong i am so affraid iam am going to be an a realy bad accident one day. my car always shutting off while driving iys not fun. its even worse when i jqve my child in the back seat and is helpless because he straped up in a car seat. part 2 if i fill my jeep up.with a full tank of gas it stalls and shuts of in the middle of traffic driving. or sitting at a stop light this happens every time i full my car up si no i dont fill it up because it like to shut off. so it getting to the point i want to set it of fire and roll it down a hill!! (kidding i would never do that!!)
My Jeep Power Transfer Unit (PTU) failed in less than 73000 miles. FCA recalled 67000 Jeep Cherokee for bad PTU. FCA said my vehicle was not under recall category. But FCA do have problem with thousands of PTU and my Jeep must have the same kind of bad PTU.
Warning light to fix 4x4..... Difficulty finding problem at dealer, required new PTU actuator and dealer had much difficulty getting part into place. Cost approximately $ 1500.
Vehicle has slowly been loosing power since I purchased it in 2018, but over the past 2 months it's sluggish and when I press the accelerator, it hesitates then takes off and the tachometer gets stuck until I let off the gas then push the accelerator again. Also when I'm in stop and go traffic, when I accelerate, it starts jerking and feel like the engine is going to die, but if I give it a little more gas, it stops, until I have to come to a stop again. It's unsettling to hear the engine race the way it does. I feel it's a safety issue because the way it jerks when I'm trying to get the tachometer to stop racing. There's been no warning lights and nothing has been confirmed by the dealership, however, I recently received a recall notice and have contacted the dealer for an appointment. I'm waiting on a return call but don't know what the recall is related to.
My 2016 Jeep Cherokee with 42100 miles on it locked up much like a brake locking up. The auto park brake feature is always applied when parked and has always worked fine until now. My wife was pulling out of the garage had just started to back up and the Jeep would not move. I was in the house she came inside and told me her issue with the Jeep. I went out and tried it, and had the same issue. I put it in reverse and tried to give it some more gas.. Jeep lurched some like the brakes were locked. Had no brake light though. I turned the engine off and restarted, made sure the brake light was out.. same thing.. I gave it more gas this time and something gave. I took it for a 30 mile drive.. it was on a Sunday, no shops open to talk to about it. On the 30 mile drive I had no issues even after stopping and restarting several times. Monday I called the service department where we purchased the Jeep. They said a two month wait to get it in. I called another dealer he said he could look at it but if it has no issues for me and he had no issues nothing he could do. So now my wife who is suppose to drive 350 miles to watch some of our Grandkids for a month while our Daughter is recovering from surgery is afraid to drive her Jeep. If I drive it and it has issues while she is out of town leaving me stranded on the side of the road.. It will be a big hassle. I do have the MOPAR extended lifetime warranty.. but if they cannot duplicate the issue at a service department they can't fix it.. what to do?
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to make a turn, the rear end of the vehicle started thudding. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with rear differential failure. The vehicle was repaired under warranty. The contact stated that the failure had reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and it was diagnosed with the same failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 34,203.
I had my car parked in a public parking garage for a few hours, and it suddenly caught on fire on the backside of the car. There were no warning lights or anything like that before hand. The whole back of the car is burned and the cars on either side of me were damaged as well. The fire department had to come put the fire out. I don't know for sure, but it sure seems like it might have been the same Power Liftgate short circuit issue that the 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokees got recalled for (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2015/RCRIT-15V393-6798.pdf)
shifter park.. car cuts off when car is idle.
Basically the parking brake would not release and the car was un drivable. Towed to dealership . Told the ABS module failed and now requires a complete brake job- recalibrate, replace rotors and pads. At a cost of $2000+ This seems to be the same exact problem that occurred 9 months ago. At that time we replaced the tires due to the wear they incurred. That was @ about 25,000 miles. The Jeep now has about 30,000 miles. 08
Warning to “Service Shifter”. Dealer said it needed new parts due to faulty wiring component. Internet/social media reports 100s of similar circumstances. Dealer said parts not covered by Jeep. Earlier years (2014-2015) and 2017 have recalls, but not 2016. Vehicle is only 5 years old and it’s extremely unclear why 2016 is not included in recalls.
I purchased car new on May 30, 2016. Recently, the vehicle is jerking and I am concerned for safety of passengers and others driving near me. Also, noted once it did not park properly and appeared to move It has now come to my attention that the PTU on this vehicle is recalled for some reason for only some vehicles. The dealership noted last week it requires a new PTU at $3,400 but there are no available parts for some reason. I said thats obviously because there is a very large problem. Please look into this as I am an Uber driver and now cannot afford to work as I am concerned about the safety of my passengers
I got into my wife's 2016 Jeep Cherokee Latitude to drive to the store and heading down the road the message 'Service Shifter' showed up on the instrument cluster and all the gear selectors became illuminated red with no check engine light. Upon coming out of the store I started the jeep and the message was gone until I started heading down the road and same thing happened but this time there was a noticeable decrease in engine power and engine seemed to be running ruff at stop light. When I made it home and put the shifter in park and started to exit the jeep it started to roll forward and I hit the brake. I started the jeep back up and no message or anything and I backed the jeep up some and put back into park and this time it went into gear however I activated the parking brake to safe and instructed my wife to do so as well. This is a serious issue as we have teenage kids that drive our vehicles and poses a serious safety issue not to mention it rolling into our house. I called a dealership and was told they have not heard of this issue and would be hard to diagnose since there is no check engine light but sounds like the whole shifter assembly needs to be replaced and is not covered by the extended warranty that we purchased. After reading online about this issue there appear to be ALOT of people having the same issue and have had the shifter assembly replaced, Shifter bezel and wiring harness replaced, updates performed, and batteries changed(car and key fob) and is still having this issue. This issue poses a great risk to owners and anyone else around these Jeeps especially as it seems that there is not a fix only guesses on what the problem is since it keeps happening. This should be a recall and Jeep should be made to find the real problem and fix it before anything serious happens. We have had shift problems before and had update performed. I wasn't able to get pics or video as I was driving and the rolling forward happened out nowhere.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while his daughter was approaching a stoplight, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond causing 3 feet stopping distance delay. The message "Service Electronic Brake System" appeared on the instrument panel and the brake warning light illuminated. The contact stated that his daughter put the vehicle in neutral and stopped the vehicle. The contact stated that as the traffic cleared, his daughter pulled into a nearby gas station and parked the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle, the message Service Shifter was displayed. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to the dealer for a routine oil change, she notified the dealer of the warning message. The dealer informed the contact that it was a known failure; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
While turning in a busy intersection recently at night my sons Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk quit moving all at once. Nearly getting hit, my son was able to get out of the vehicle and all was avoided. It appears the transfer case part number 68282447AB was defective and broke. This part has been recalled in some Jeep vehicles. Apparently not this one and this is a very dangerous problem Jeep should make right. Now it is in the repair shop with replacement parts months backordered.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle would shut off while driving at various speeds without warning. The contact also stated that the vehicle would start up and shut off independently without warning. Additionally, while driving at 60 MPH, the vehicle began to shake uncontrollably without warning as the contact lost control of the vehicle. The contact was able to pull over and shut off the vehicle. After multiple attempts, the contact was able to restart the vehicle and resume normal driving. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer and an independent mechanic and both were unable to diagnose the failure since no warning lights had appeared on the instrument panel. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
Service shifter message comes up on dashboard of vehicle. All the lights on the shifter turn red and the dashboard will not permit changing the screen message. This happened frequently in 2019 for the vehicle. Service at the dealership replaced the shifter wiring harness and bezel kit. Now the same issue is occurring with the same service message for the shifter. Dealership states the shifter bezel needs to be replaced with updated version. If this problem worsens, the vehicle could stop shifting and/or be unable to put the vehicle into park. This is a common problem for Jeep Cherokees as seen on online forums from owners.
My wife, while traveling on the interstate (I35), had a service transmission and engine light come on. The car immediately decreased in speed and performance and became undrivable at highway speeds, She had to limp to the next exit and call and wait for AAA. This was very dangerous due to highway traffic and speeds as well as her being stranded in the middle of nowhere in KS. When we got to the CDJR Dealership they said it was a common, known, issue (fault codes P0887 and C2226) and a software update was required which, by the way, is not free. So $100.45 later the car is "fixed" and we are on our way. This is a known defect (software issue), as identified by the manufacturer, which can be a safety risk to the driver and occupants and should be a no charge repair or recall in my opinion.
I was at the store came out started my jeep sat there for a minute put my jeep in drive pressed the gas pulled forward out of the parking spot when my jeep stopped my dash said put in park then select gear well i was in the middle of the lane and i couldn’t press the brake or turn my wheel there was a car coming down the lane and my jeep was just sitting there not able to turn back on. finally i was able to get my jeep to turn back on and i put it in reverse and left it in the parking lot if I were to drive home and that happened there could’ve been a major accident! I’m so grateful I was not on the interstate!
PTU. Jeep loses power some times when trying to accelerate and now the Service 4Wheel Drive light is on and according the the mechanic is because the PTU is failing and needs replace. I see there is a recall for Jeep Cherokees between 2014 and 2017 for PTU but I am being told that my VIN is not part of the recall however I am having the issues that are described as part of the recall.
I keep getting a "shifter service" when I start my vehicle and even when I stop my vehicle. I have to turn the car on and then back on sometimes twice before it will stop. This started about 3 years after I bought the car and has been getting worse every since. I feel this is a safety issue because you cannot see the odometer when driving and have know idead how fast your might be going. You do not always have a place to pull over to turn your car off and back on. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL! I have read hundreds of blogs where this is happening on this jeep type from years 2014 through 2019.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the message "service shifter" was displayed and the gear shifter lights were illuminated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to schedule a recall repair appointment with the dealer for manufacturer customer satisfaction W84. The dealer informed the contact that she would be responsible for the cost of repair as the manufacturer's customer satisfaction W84 repair only covered the vehicle reprogramming and would not remedy the shifter failure. The manufacturer provided no further assistance and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000
For the past couple of weeks I’ve been noticing the car does not react when I press the gas… like there’s a delay In catching speed.., like stalling, last night the “service shifter” light came on and all the PRN&D lights are on and I’m scared for my kids and my safety.
I was driving on the interstate, I just got past 55 miles per hour and my “service transmission soon” notification came on. I was able to get off the interstate. After that, the vehicle completely stalled out. I put it in park and then back in drive and I was able to get home. If the vehicle would have stalled on the interstate it would have been horrible.
The shifter lights blink and turn red while at a stop light. The car would not run. I had to turn off and on again. This happened several times. Sometimes the shifter lights blink at night and the battery gets drained.
sense my Fiance bought the vehicle this vehicle has been having issues the Battery has been replace for no reason it die , than when you are driving in a parking tends to shut off or it will pull hard , the recent incident was me in the intersection and as I was turning the vehicle stop and wouldn't pick up speed and it took like 10 seconds to be able to work again and and once in a while it will pull as you are driving , the last incident was today the start /stop system give me a Orage light saying is unavailable , We bough the vehicle back in 2018 and sense than the problem has been mile , the vehicle has less than 100k miles to be working like than and sense it has been acting more and more now , I'm starting to be afraid for my safety and my kids safety . and is important to know about this issue .
Shifter service light came on, made an appointment with the dealer, they did a diagnostic test, said battery was bad and said he really didn't think the shifter needed replacing. The battery was replaced and about 6 weeks later, the light came on again, and after reading some forums, it looks like this is a rather common probably with jeeps, so why is this not a recall? It also seems like the problem doesn't even go away after having the shifter kit replaced.
The "service shifter" warning come on. And all of the lights go on on the shifter for example Park Neutral, Drive. I had this problem a couple of years ago and the dealer replaced the shifter assembly and harness. Now the same problem is happening. After shutting off the engine the message disperses but comes back on after a few minutes. Now I'm afraid that I'll have to pay for the repair because the car has 48,000 miles on it and out of warranty. Is there a recall on this problem?
The vehicle started to stop and it was shaking, the car stopped and it wouldn't go into park.Transmission didn't work! The car wouldn't shift!
Airbags failed to deploy after front end no-fault collision.
I STARTED HEARING A GRINDING/SCREECHING SOUND OCCASIONALLY THAT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL. IT WAS NOT CONSTANT AND WAS NOT NECESSARILY WHILE DOING ANY PARTICULAR THING EXCEPT DRIVING. SOMETIMES OCCURRED WHILE TURNING BUT SOMETIMES OCCURRED WHILE BEING ON ON STRAIGHT AWAY. TOOK IT INTO DEALERSHIP AND THEY LOOKED IT OVER AND LET ME KNOW THAT IT WAS THE PTU THAT WAS LEAKING FLUID AND SHARDS OF METAL. THEN I READ ONLINE ABOUT RECALL: FOR 2014-2017 JEEP CHEROKEES WHERE THE PTU HAS NOT BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPLACED, THE AUTO MAKER'S RECALL NUMBER IS W47 AND THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION (NHTSA)'S RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER IS 20V343. AND UNSURE WHY MY VIN # WOULD NOT BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER LIT UP RED
I BROUGHT JEEP TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT POWER TRANSFER UNIT HAS GONE BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. OTHER 2104-2017 JEEP CHEROKEES HAVE HAD A RECALL ON THIS UNIT BUT MY VIN DOES NOT SHOW A RECALL IN PLACE. DID THEY PUT IN A DIFFERENT PTU IN MY CAR THAN THE OTHER 67,248 JEEPS? CAR SHIFTS I TO 2WD OR 4WD DRIVE BY ITSELF
I BOUGHT MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE BRAND NEW IN FEBRUARY 2016. THE WIPERS QUIT WORKING DURING A HEAVY RAIN STORM IN MYRTLE BEACH. YOU TURN THE SWITCH AND THEY WOULDN'T TURN ON. THE NEXT DAY, THEY WORKED. ONCE AGAIN I NEEDED THEM IN ANOTHER RAIN STORM, AND THEY DIDN'T WORK. I LIVE ON THE COAST OF NC AND IT RAINS OFTEN. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. TOOK AGAIN A WEEK LATER, THEY REPLACED THE BCM WHICH WAS OVER $500. 6-8 MONTHS LATER THE PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN. SAME THING HAPPENED DURING A RAIN STORM. DEALERSHIP REPLACED BCM ONCE AGAIN. THEN LESS THAN A YEAR LATER, HAPPENS AGAIN. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND THEY SAID A WIRE HAD SHORTED OUT ON BCM. A WIRE WAS REPLACED. ONCE AGAIN 8 MONTHS OR SO LATER, HAPPENS AGAIN IN JULY 2020, REPLACED YET ANOTHER BCM. NOW IN APRIL OF 2021, TODAY, IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN AND I'M DRIVING FROM FLORIDA BACK TO NC ON HIGHWAY 95. GOING THROUGH A RAIN STORM AND WIPERS NOT WORKING. THIS HAS BEEN VERY DANGEROUS AND VERY FRUSTRATING. IF I MAKE IT, I'LL BE TAKING IT AGAIN TO DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY. I HAVE ALL DOCUMENTATION EVERY TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, AND VIDEO PROOF. IF I COULD GET RID OF THIS CAR I WOULD BUT I CAN'T. SUBMITTED A PICTURE OF DRIVING IN RAIN ON 95 AND WIPER SWITCH IS SET TO HIGH.
I SAT IN MY DRIVER SEAT AND THE LATCH COMPLETELY BROKE SO NOW MY SEAT DOES NOT STAY LATCHED AND IT JUMPS UP EVERY TIME I HIT A BUMP ON THE ROAD. IT HAS CAUSED ME TO SWERVE INTO DIFFERENT LANES BY ACCIDENT AND COULD ULTIMATELY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY IF I GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONERY WHEN IT BROKE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STOP/START SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BLAKE FULENWIDER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP OF CLYDE (110 N S ACCESS RD, CLYDE, TX 79510, (325) 893-1416) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BATTERY SENSOR, UNDER HOOD SWITCH, AND AN UNKNOWN ELECTRICAL PART NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,266.
ONLY 60K ON MY JEEP CHEROKEE AND SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON. THIS REMAINED ON THE 21 MILES TO MY JOB.
THE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON ON 04/01/2021. IT REMAINED ON THE ENTIRE TRIP HOME FROM MY SCHOOL OF EMPLOYMENT. I NOTED THIS IS A POPULAR PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. PREVIOUSLY, I HAD VERY SCARY PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION SEVERAL TIMES AND THIS IS DOCUMENTED IN AN ONGOING SUIT THAT HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED.
No messages were displayed when any issues occured. The back hatch stops working randomly. Whether your trying to open or close the back hatch, it will not operate by any of the interior push buttons or by using the key fob. I have to manually pull the hatch open &/or closed. I had a technician see this happen as well. I've had numerous times where my Jeep will be shifting & it lags a little bit and then causes a loud bang & jolt when it shifts to the next gear. I only drive approximately 6,000 miles/year. Any resolution to these issues would be greatly appreciated, Amy
The 4X4 system stop working. the driveline from the front PTU to the rear differential is rotating but the wheels are not! no indication of any failure in the dash board while driving regular road. Under load, when trying (unsuccessfully) to climb a small hill, the 4X4 system gets "heating warning and shuts down. I was advised to take off the 4X4 fuse in order to not increase the damage. Bottom line - my jeep trailhawk is now a regular 2X4 car :-(
SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE KEEPS APPEARING, AND SOLID RED LIGHTS STAY ON THE SHIFTER DISPLAY PRND WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF IT DISAPPEARS BUT RETURNS IN LESS THAN 2 MILES DOWN THE ROAD. THE SHIFTING IS ROUGH AND JUMPY. HAD CAR LESS THAN 1 WEEK.
WE OWN A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. LAST NIGHT MY WIFE WAS STRANDED WITH A FLAT ALONG A BUSY HIGHWAY. SHE ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE THE TIRE BUT COULD NOT GET THE LUG NUTS OFF. I DROVE TO THE SITE AND YES EVERY LUG NUT ON THIS VEHICLE ARE SWELLED AND WILL NOT BUDGE EVEN WITH IMPACT WRENCH. THE ISSUE I HAVE IS THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT IT ALL OVER THE INTERNET. YET JEEP REFUSES TO ADMIT THE ISSUE OR EVEN WARN IT'S CUSTOMERS TO CHECK THIS IN CASE YOU GET A FLAT. MY WIFE IS NOW SCARED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ANYWHERE. I GET MY OIL CHANGED AT A JEEP DEALERSHIP. YOU THINK THEY COULD WARN THEIR CUSTOMERS ABOUT THIS ISSUE? YOU THINK THEY WOULD CHECK FOR THIS ISSUE WHEN WE BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AT AN AUTHORIZED JEEP DEALERSHIP? WHY DID I HAVE TO LEARN OF THIS ISSUE AFTER THE FACT. WHY DID I HAVE TO LEARN OF THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET?
During driving the SVS 4WD light appeared on the display. About the same time the Larger display flashed 4 wheel drive not available along with an audible bell. The jeep was taken to one dealer and the repair estimate was $6900. Took to another dealer who charged $134. for diagnosis and said the PTU was defective and the cost would be $3600 but the units were on back order and it could be 2 to 6 months to get a PTU unit. I was told I could continue driving the vehicle but would have no 4 wheel drive. I am driving the vehicle and the Bell sounds at interval saying to service 4 wheel drive and that it is not available. FCA has not offered any assistance on parts or labor and has said out of warrantee. Dealer said that it is a common problem that FCA should have addressed.
MY JEEP WAS LOOKED AT UNDER THE W20 RECALL, IT FIXED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, BUT LATER CAME BACK UP. I'M NOT SURE IF THE RECALL WAS PART OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, BUT I'VE TRIED TO RESET IT, AND THAT IS NOT WORKING. I DON'T FEEL THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS FIXED. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN DO? SHOULD I BRING MY JEEP TO A JEEP DEALER??
I HAD MY CAR TOWED ON THE MORNING OF FEB. 20TH FROM MY HOME TO THE MALL OF GA CHRYSLER, DODGE AND JEEP IN BUFORD, GEORGIA. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT IT WAS THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND IT WOULD COST ABOUT $860.00 TO FIX. PART WOULDN'T BE IN UNTIL MARCH 3RD. OK, THEN GET A CALL SAYING THAT OIL GOT IN THE BOOSTER PUMP AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE VACUUM PUMP ALSO AND THIS IS GOING TO COST AN ADDITIONAL $1,200.00. TOLD THEM TO GO AHEAD WITH REPAIRS. THEY WOULD ONLY CREDIT ME FOR 2 DAYS OF A RENTAL CAR AND I HAD TO PAY $350.00 OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE TRANSPORTATION WHILE MY CAR IS IN THEIR SERVICE DEPT WHERE I PURCHASED THIS CAR BRAND NEW OFF THEIR LOT. GOT CAR BACK MARCH 5TH 2021. ON MARCH 7TH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE BRAKES MADE A LOUD POPPING SOUND, STEERING IS VERY TIGHT AND NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING. DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE AT ALL. I CALLED MON. MORN AND NO CALL BACK YET.
TRANSMISSION JERKS. PARKING BRAKE COMES ON AUTOMATICALLY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES BETWEEN 35-40 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOSS MOTIVE POWER AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE MADE AN AUDIBLE DINGING SOUND WITH A MESSAGE DISPLAYED TO TURN-OFF THE VEHICLE. THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER APPROXIMATELY 20-30 MINUTES THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
Transmission will not shift out of low gear. Especially when on a steel hill. Also, turn signals will not turn off unless I manually do so. Dealer tells me I must let them do a $125 diagnostic test, (I pay for it), then must be reviewed before they can say it’s a warranty or not. These seem to be common problems that many Cherokee owners have but never recalled.
