MY JEEP SHUTS OFF WHEN IN MOTION. LAST NOVEMBER I WAS ON A HIGHWAY WITH MY TODDLER IN THE BACKSEAT WHEN IT SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT NEEDED AN "UPDATE" ON THE TRANSMISSION. NOW IT IS A FEW MONTHS LATER AND AGAIN TODAY IT SUDDENLY TURNED OFF WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE IS A RECALL ON THE PCM THAT MAYBE COULD BE CAUSING IT TO SHUT OFF. THEY CANNOT EVEN GIVE YOU A QUICK APPOINTMENT AND EXPECT ME TO DRIVE THE CAR AS IT IS, COMPLETELY UNSAFE AND ALMOST CAUSING FULL COLLISION ON TWO OCCASIONS. HOW CAN NOBODY CARE THAT THIS IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE AND COULD CAUSE DEATH IN A COLLISION WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION? THEY JUST KEEP SAYING THEY UNDERSTAND BUT THAT IT JUST NEEDS AN UPDATE AND FOR ME TO JUST WAIT A WEEK OR MORE UNTIL THEIR NEXT APPOINTMENT. THEY SAY I SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED BY MAIL OF ANY RECALL OR UPDATE BUT I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE OF ANYTHING.
MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED HAS A PARKING BRAKE ISSUE. MY PARKING BRAKE WILL NOT DISENGAGE, THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD OR BACK, THE LIGHT REMAINS LIT UP ON THE DASHBOARD. MY JEEP IS INOPERABLE DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT IN TRAFFIC AND MY CAR REFUSED TO MOVE AT ALL. IT FINALLY MOVED OUT OF PARK IN 30 MINUTES. THE NEXT DAY MY CAR DID THE SAME THING AGAIN WHILE I WAS TRYING TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT THE STORE. IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP. THESE TWO INCIDENTS CAUSED ME TO BE STUCK DANGEROUSLY IN TRAFFIC AT A STREET LIGHT, AND THEN AGAIN AT THE GROCERY STORE IN THE PARKING LOT. AS OF NOW I AM WITHOUT MY CAR, BEING TOLD WATER GOT IN THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE MODULE. I AM TOLD IT ALSO REQUIRES A ELECTRONIC PARK BRAKE SWITCH NOW TOO. MY CAR HAS42504 ACTUAL MILES ON IT CURRENTLY. I BOUT IT WITH 42098 MILES ON IT ON JUNE 25TH 2020.
CAR SHUT OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHILE PULLING INTO PARKING LOT AND MAKING RIGHT TURN.
SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING KEEPS POPPING UP. ONCE I TURN THE CAR OFF IT GOES AWAY FOR A FEW THOUSAND MILES THEN POPS BACK UP. DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY ARE UNSURE WHY THIS WOULD COME ON. IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE PAST 4 YEARS OF US GETTING IT BRAND NEW. TODAY WAS THE MOST RECENT & WHEN I DECIDED TO GOOGLE IT & SEEN WHERE YOU CAN PUT IN INTO THIS SITE.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT AND WHEN I GOT TO MY FRIENDS GATED ENTRANCE. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK SO I COULD ENTER THE GATE CODE ON TO THE KEY PAD. WHEN I WENT TO PUT THE CAR BACK INTO DRIVE- THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WENT ON BY ITSELF AND WOULD NOT RELEASE. THE CAR WOULD NOT GO IN TO ANY GEAR SO I COULDN'T PUT IT IN NEUTRAL TO PUSH IT OUT OF THE WAY FOR RESIDENTS TRYING TO ENTER. I HAD TO CALL FOR A TOW TRUCK AND WAIT AN HOUR DIRECTING TRAFFIC... HAD IT TOWED TO MY NEIGHBORHOOD BECAUSE DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSED. NEXT MORNING HAD IT TOWED TO CHRYSLER, DODGE, JEEP IN BUFORD, GA.
I WAS HOME FROM A SHORT TRIP TO THE STORE WHEN THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING APPEARED ON THE DASH. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO PARK AND SHIFTER WILL NOT GO PAST NEUTRAL. KEY WILL NOT RELEASE AND IS STUCK IN THE ON POSITION WITH NO WAY TO REMOVE OR TURN OFF IGNITION. VEHICLE IS IMMOVABLE AND IS A ROLL OFF HAZARD DUE TO BEING UNABLE TO PLACE TRANSMISSION IN PARK.
CAR SHUTS OFF MID-DRIVE / MID-TURN WHILE IN MOTION WITHOUT WARNING. NO LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED IN THE DASH CLUSTER AFTER OR DURING. NO EXPLANATION WHY.
WITHIN 7 MONTHS OF BUYING THIS CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP, THE 4WD SAYS UNAVAILABLE, THE WIPER SPRAYER BROKE WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND I HAD TO PULL OVER BECAUSE I COULDN'T SPRAY MY WINDOW ON A SNOW-MELTING, MESSY DAY. THEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE WIPER BROKE WHILE DRIVING IN TORRENT RAINS WHERE I ALMOST GOT RUN OVER BY A SEMI-TRUCK ON THE HIGHWAY FOR HAVING TO PULL OVER. THE MUD FLAPS CONTINUE TO RIP CAUSING MUD AND ICE TO BUILD UP BEHIND THE TIRES. IN 15-BELOW WEATHER, I WENT TO START MY CAR TO GO TO WORK AND WHEN I TURNED THE HEAT HIGHER THAN 4 (OUT OF 7), IT MADE A LOUD, VIBRATING SOUND UNTIL I TURNED IT BACK DOWN, SO I WAS VERY COLD ALL THE WAY TO WORK. THE NEXT DAY IT WORKED FINE. THE DAY AFTER THAT, I WENT OUT TO START MY CAR AGAIN TO GO TO WORK, IT WAS 15-BELOW STILL, AND I HAD NO HEATER BLOWER AT ALL. I HAD NO HEAT. I COULD NOT DRIVE DUE TO THAT, HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO A SHOP, AND ENDED UP CALLING IN SICK AT WORK, WHICH JEOPARDIZED MY BRAND NEW EMPLOYEE STATUS.
SEVERAL DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS LIT UP AT THE SAME TIME (WITH ALARMS SOUNDING CONTINUOUSLY): CHECK ENGINE; PARKING BRAKE; SERVICE AIRBAG SYSTEM, TRACTION CONTROL OFF, SEATBELT WARNING GEAR INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE ALL ON AT THE SAME TIME: P, R, N. D AND THE MANUAL SHIFT +/- INDICATOR (ALL LIT RED) THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT (OUT OF WHAT FELT LIKE 3RD GEAR) WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY. A FEW TIMES, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF NEUTRAL, AND I COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO MOVE (AFTER COMING TO A STOP) ON THE OFF RAMP AND ON THE SIDE STREETS. KEY FOB WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOORS OR SET THE ALARM
VEHICLE WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGH WAY, 70MPH, FOR 20 MINS, EXITED THE HIGHWAY TO 40 MPH AND ENGINE BEGAN MAKING A RATTLING SOUND, SHAKING, BACKFIRING, AND ACCELERATION BECAME DIFFICULT, LOSS OF HORSE POWER. DROVE TO NEAREST PARKING LOT. CONTINUES TO MISFIRE WHILE IN NEUTRAL AND AT IDLE. TURNED OFF THE ENGINE FOR 5 MINS. RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CAR CONTINUED TO MAKE NOISES, BACK FIRE AND IDLE POORLY. TOWED TO A SHOP. CODES WERE IDENTIFIED IN CYLINDER #3 SPARK PLUGS WERE CHECKED TO BE FINE, COILS WERE CHECKED TO BE FINE, AND CYLINDER #3 CONTINUED TO SO ERROR CODES. CAR WAS LEFT TO HAVE FUEL PUMP INJECTOR CHECKED. THE FUEL INJECTOR WAS NOT AFFECTED. CYLINDER #3 WAS FOUND TO HAVE NO PRESSURE AND NOT OPERATING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN "BURNING" OIL, AND NEEDED TO HAVE OIL CHECKED ON A WEEKLY BASIS, OIL CHANGED ON A BY MONTHLY SCHEDULE AND IF IT WAS EVER CLOSE TO MEASURING LOW ON THE DIPSTICK THE AUTOMATIC ENGINE SHUTDOWN WOULD DISABLE THE VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS IN MOTION. THE CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE AND NOW THE FEAR IS THAT THE "BURNING" OF THE OIL HAS DAMAGED THE ENGINE CYLINDER BEYOND REPAIR. WE'VE BEEN ADVISED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE FOR A COST OF $12,500 AT ONLY 35,000 MILES.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT ABOUT 25-30 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF COMPLETELY, ENGINE WAS NOT GOING AND POWER STEERING, BRAKES, AND ALL ELECTRONICS WOULD NOT WORK UNTIL THE CAR COASTED INTO A PARKING LOT. THE CAR WAS PUT IN PARK AND THEN TURNED BACK ON AS NORMAL. INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES NOW AT SPEEDS OF 45MPH , 20MPH, 25MPH, AND 10MPH.
MY CAR WILL JUST DIE WHILE I AM OPERATING IT. THEN IT WILL TURN RIGHT BACK ON, AND DRIVE FINE. IT GOES INTO A GHOST MODE, POWER STEERING STILL WORKS.
PTU Failure. Took vehicle to Jeep dealer. I was told that although there was a recall on the PTU for 2014-2017 Jeep Cherokees, my VIN was not included.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED, THE VEHICLE SHUT-OFF UPON MAKING A RIGHT TURN WITH THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO MAKE AN ABNORMAL NOISE AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. UPON RESTART OF THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 67,000.
My wife was involved in an accident due to the other driver making an illegal u-turn. This collision involved a front impact of her Jeep causing several thousand dollars of damage. During this accident, the airbags did not deploy as would have been expected in an accident of this nature.
1. THE NEW BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD ON MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE AND BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY ON MAY 28, 2020 AND ON 1-17-21 THE NEW BATTERY IS COMPLETELY DEAD. 2. WHEN BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVE WAY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE COMES ON AND BRAKES THE CAR, I DISENGAGED THE BRAKE AND CONTINUED OUT OF DRIVE WAY AND WILL DO IT AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON 3 OCCASIONS.
ON 01/16/2021 I WAS DRIVING THE JEEP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN SUDDENLY THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM 4TH TO 5TH AND MY ACCELERATOR PEDDLE WAS UNRESPONSIVE. UPON GETTING HOME I PULLED THE OBD AND RECEIVED CODE P0887 WHICH WAS ASSOCIATED WITH A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE AND THE RECALL OUTLINED THE SYMPTOMS I WAS HAVING TO A T. UPON CALLING JEEP AFTER READING THE RECALL I LEARNED THIS VIN WAS NOT RECALLED EVEN THOUGH THE SYMPTOMS FOR THE RECALL WERE THE SAME WE WERE EXPERIENCING. AFTER READING ABOUT THIS ONLINE I THINK THIS IS A WIDER RECALL THAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN BECAUSE SINCE THE RECALL AND SERVICE BULLETIN RELEASE DATE IN JUNE 2018 THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE ATTACHED MY DIAGNOSTIC SCAN SO YOU CAN SEE THE FREEZE FRAME AND CODE BEING THROWN ON THE VEHICLE. THAT BEING SAID THIS CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE RIGHT NOW THROUGH NO FAULT OF OUR OWN AS ALL MAINTENANCE IS UP TO DATE. JEEP WANTS TO CHARGE US $75 FOR THE RE-FLASH PROCEDURE AND I REALIZE I MAY NOT GET OUT OF PAYING THAT BUT I WANTED TO BE SURE YOU GUYS KNEW THAT THE RECALL THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO COVER THESE YEARS OF JEEPS FAILED TO DO SO FULLY AND SHOULD BE REEXAMINED. GEAR SHIFT ERROR LIGHTS! WHILE DRIVING ALL THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHTS CAME ON. PULLED OVER TO SHUT OFF THE CAR AND THE LIGHTS WENT OFF. WHEN I PICKED UP TO SPEED THE LIGHTS CAME BACK. THE CAR SHUTS OFF WHEN TURNING AND STARTED JERKING WITH TAKE OFF. ONCE THE POWER SHUTS OFF THE CAR DIDN'T WANT TO START AND TURNED OVER UNTIL IT CAUGHT ON. I DRIVE AROUND A LARGE CITY WITH LOTS OF HIGHWAYS FOR A LIVING AND I AM AFRAID THE CAR MAY LOSS POWER IN TRAFFIC! THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE SUMMER 2020
ENGINE CUTS OUT WITH NO WARNING WHEN VEHICLE IN MOTION. IMMEDIATE LOSS OF STEERING, BREAKING, AND POWER. VEHICLE WAS TRAVELLING AT 10-15 MPH FOLLOWING ROAD TO THE RIGHT ON A RISE. IMMEDIATE RISK OF COLLISION FROM FOLLOWING CARS.
AS I AM DRIVING ALONG, THE CONSOLE ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL TELLS ME THAT I NEED TO 'SERVICE SHIFTER'. I TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON, THEN IT REPEATS. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THAT THEY ARE NOT SURE WHY IT IS DOING THIS.
2016 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT WITH ONLY 11850 MILES BEGAN JERKING AND STALLING WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY... FINALLY IT STALLED COMPLETELY AND THE LOW OIL INDICATOR SHOWED. I THEN DISCOVERED THE 2.4L TIGERSHARK ENGINE WAS DOWN OVER 2 QTS. THERE WAS NO PRIOR LOW OIL INDICATION. I IMMEDIATELY CHANGED THE OIL AND FILTER FOR THE THIRD TIME SINCE 2016 WHEN NEW. THE VEHICLE STOPPED ON A COUNTY ROAD.
ENGINE SHUTS OFF WITH NO WARNING! APPARENTLY WHEN OIL IS LOW, ENGINE IS BUILT TO SHUT OFF AS A SAFETY FEATURE! NO OIL LIGHT INDICATOR COMES ON. THIS HAPPENS IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING VEHICLE WITH NO WARNING. CHECKED THE FORUMS ONLINE AND MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF SAME ISSUE. THESE VEHICLES (MINE INCLUDED) ARE BURNING OIL LIKE CRAZY! ISSUE HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE VEHICLE HAD 60K MILES ON IT. WILL BURN THROUGH 5 QUARTS OF OIL IN 3K MILES OR LESS AND THEN VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF BECAUSE OF NO OIL!
EIGHT TIMES NOW MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE WILL JUST QUIT. DEALERSHIP KEEPS MAKING ME CHECK MY OIL MYSELF. I AM 3000 MILES BEFORE A SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE AND THE VEHICLE HAS JUST STOPPED RUNNING WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH AGAIN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS . I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS 55 ON ALMOST ALL ROADS. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY A SEMI WAITING FOR A TOW. I GOT HOME AND AGAIN MY OIL IS LOW. MY CAR IS NOT LEAKING OIL. MY FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WENT OUT IN VEHICLE DURING WINTER WHICH MAKE IT UNDRIVALE IN WISCONSIN WINTERS. IN ADDITION, WHEN I HAVE THE CRUISE CONTROL ON, THE VEHICLE POWERS UP WHEN GOING DOWN HILL. THIS HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY UNTIL I TAKE OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL
THE 'SERVICE SHIFTER' ALERT IS ON, I HAVE A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE WITH 21000 MILES. I HAVE DONE SOME INVESTIGATING AND IT LOOKS LIKE THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR MANY JEEP'S, YET IS NOT A RECALL.
I HAVE A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING COMES ON EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS TURNED ON. THE LIGHT INDICATORS ON THE THE GEAR SHIFTER NO LONGER COME ON. I'VE READ MUCH ON THIS ISSUE AND IT SEEMS THAT THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME SORT OF RECALL TO FIX THIS ISSUE. MY 2016 JEEP WITH LESS THAN 20K MILES ON IT IS GETTING A "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING MESSAGE. WHEN THIS LIGHT TURNS ON, ALL THE SHIFTER LIGHTS COME ON AS WELL. WHEN I TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON IT CLEARS THE FAULT ONLY TO SEE THE ERROR MESSAGE POP UP AGAIN WITHIN 5 OR SO MINUTES OF DRIVING. THIS ALSO MAKES IT WHERE I CANNOT MANUALLY UP OR DOWN SHIFT. NO ISSUES TURNING OR STATIONARY, SEEMS TO BE NO DIFFERENCE IN THE CITY OR HIGHWAY.
THE 'SERVICE SHIFTER ' ICON WAS ILLUMINATED AS WELL AS THE GEAR SELECTOR INDICATOR LIGHTS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. AFTER REVIEWING WEB SITES THIS IS AN INHERENT PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP CHEROKEES.
I KEEP HAVING 'SERVICE SHIFTER' POP UP WHERE THE SPEEDOMETER IS. IT ORIGINALLY POPPED UP ABOUT 3 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. IT POPS UP AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN 3 TIMES TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THE FIRST TIME THEY REPLACED A WIRING HARNESS. THE SECOND TIME THEY SAID NOTHING IS WRONG. AND THE THIRD TIME THEY CLEANED A CONNECTOR. AFTER ALL THREE TIMES I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN THE CAR WAS FINE FOR ABOUT A MONTH, THEN THE MESSAGE CAME BACK.
SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING LIGHT HAS POPPED UP ON MY JEEP TWICE NOW.

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH AND APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED HOWEVER IT FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AS SHE REAR ENDED TWO VEHICLES. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE STEERING WHEEL AND KNEE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AS A WELL AS THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HER LEGS AND CHEST, SHE ALSO HAD WHIPLASH AND A VERY BAD MIGRAINE. THE CONTACT STATED THE OCCUPANT IN THE OTHER VEHICLE HAD SUSTAINED WHIPLASH. EMERGENCY OFFICIALS WERE ALERTED. THE CONTACT STATED SHE REFUSED TO GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM DUE TO COVID-19. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN UNIDENTIFIED SALVAGE YARD WHERE IT WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE LOCAL DEALER (MAK HAIK FORD 10333 KATY FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77024) WAS NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.*DT*JB*DT*JB
VEHICLE STALL WHILE PARKED OR DURING MID TURN. VEHICLE WOULD ALSO HAVE SOME SORT OF OVERHEATING WHICH CAUSES ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ONE AND VEHICLE STARTS TO LOSE POWER CAUSING LIGHTS TO HAVE A SHORT FLICKER. ALL ISSUE HAPPEN DURING MOTION AND WHILE PARKED.
MY CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. GENERALLY WHEN MAKING TURNS, WHILE I'M DECELERATING IT DECIDES TO DECELERATE TO WHERE I'M NOW GOING JUST A FEW MILES AN HOUR TO COMPLETELY SHUTTING OFF. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I'VE REPLACED MY BATTERY TO MAKE SURE IT WASN'T AN ISSUE AND MY BATTERY LIGHT DID COME ON AS WELL AFTER THE SHUT OFF. MY SCREEN ALSO TELLS ME TO PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND CHOOSE DESIRED GEAR. WHEN MY CAR IS CLEARLY IN DRIVE BUT COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND THE PICTURE IS FROM TODAY, THIS BATTERY WAS REPLACED YESTERDAY.
VEHICLE DIES AND YOU LOSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKING. VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN VERY SLOWLY IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA WHEN IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND DIED. POWER STEERING LOSS AND BRAKE LOSS MAKES IT VERY HARD TO PULL OVER. DEALERSHIP CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT OR DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS CAR IS DEATH TRAP AND I WOULD LIKE THE ENGINE REPLACED. OR BE ABLE TO GET RID OF IT WITHOUT PAYING A FORTUNE. ALSO 2 DAYS BEFORE THIS IT STOPPED ACCELERATING WHILE GOING 50 PMH.

THE JEEP HAS 36.4K MILES. WHEN I DRIVE THE CAR IS OVERHEATING AND SHOOTS ALL THE WAY HOT INTO THE RED AND THEN COOLS DOWN, THEN GOES UP AGAIN. IT HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN 15 MIN. WE FILLED IT WITH ANTIFREEZE. THERE IS NO LEAK. THE DEALER COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM BUT MY MECHANIC SAYS IT'S AN ENGINE DEFECT THAT CHRYSLER NEEDS TO FIX. IT ALSO HAS A CYLINDER MISFIRE THAT I HAVE HAD TO HAVE FIXED BY CHRYSLER TWICE IN SEPTEMBER AND DECEMBER BECAUSE IT CHUGS WHEN I START THE CAR AND AT STOP LIGHTS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THEY SAY IT'S BAD SPARK PLUGS. I ONLY DRIVE ABOUT 14 MILES A DAY.

I BOUGHT A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE WITH 56,000. I HAD IT FOR 1 DAY BEFORE I GOT A SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING ON MY DASHBOARD AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER LIT UP RED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME TO COME IN RIGHT AWAY, BUT THE LIGHT WENT OFF WHEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF. THE LIGHT DIDN'T COME BACK ON FOR A FEW WEEK, BUT NOW IT COMES ON EVERYDAY. I HAVE READ SEVERAL FORUMS ABOUT PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH THEIR 2016-2019 JEEP'S, AND EVEN AFTER GETTING THE WIRING AND SHIFTER REPLACED THE ISSUE WILL COME BACK. I'VE READ ABOUT PEOPLE WHOSE CAR GETS STUCK IN GEAR AND THEY CAN'T PUT IT INTO DRIVE OR PARK. MY JEEP DEALER SAID HE HAS SEEN THIS HAPPEN TO "10-11 CHRYSLER/JEEP/DODGE/RAM VEHICLES". HIS SUGGESTIONS WAS "TO GET AN OIL CHANGE" AND IT WILL FIX IT. I WENT TO GET AN OIL CHANGE MY CAR ENGINE SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BUSIEST STREET IN THE CITY DURING LUNCH TRAFFIC. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5-7 TIMES THIS YEAR. I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED. THIS IS LIFE THREATENING. I IMAGINE THIS IS HAPPENING ON THE HIGHWAY AND FREE WAY WITH OTHER CUSTOMERS. PROBLEMS OCCURRED SINCE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT AND HAS PROGRESSLY GOTTEN WORSE TO THE POINT THAT IT IS VERY NOTICEABLE. ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON NOW WITH A SERVICE TRANSMISSION MESSAGE. TRANSMISSION DOES NOT HAVE A DIPSTICK TO CHECK FLUID LEVELS. OWNER'S MANUEL STATES TRANSMISSION FLUID DOES NOT NEED TO BE CHECKED AND TRANSMISSION IS ENCLOSED. OWNER'S MANUEL STATES TRANSMISSION DOES NOT NEED TO BE SERVICED FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE WHICH I AM ASSUMING MIGHT BE A FALSE STATEMENT. PROBLEM CAUSING TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS UNKNOWN. VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION HAS NOT BEEN SERVICE BECAUSE OWNER'S MANUEL STATES IT DOES NOT NEED TO. PROBLEM WOULD RESOLVED BY TURNING ENGINE OFF AND THEN BACK ON. SOMETIMES TRANSMISSION BEING STUCK IN A GEAR WILL BE RESOLVED ON ITS OWN IF GAS PEDAL IS KEPT IN THE DOWN POSITION.

BROUGHT IT TO HAVE THE ALTERNATOR CHECKED AT ADVANCED AUTO AND THE ALTERNATOR IS FINE. LEAVING ADVANCED AUTO IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND I HAD TO CALL ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE TO TOW THE JEEP HOME. THIS MORNING IT STARTED RUNNING FINE ON OUR WAY TO THE STORE A MILE AWAY SAMETHING. WHAT'S GOING ON? I RESEARCH AND THERES HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE YET NO RESULTS OR CLARIFICATION.
The back lift gate will not open with key fob or by pushing the button at the bottom of the back door. The only way to open or close the back hatch is to manually lift the door and in turn manually close it as well. Completely random and unpredictable but happens quite frequently. I'm physically disabled and this has been very painful for for me to deal with it happens. There's never been any messages or warnings when this happens. I've had my jeep in for oil changes and other maintenance items, it will never do it while I'm trying to demonstrate this to the service representative.

I CAN'T AFFORD TO GET THIS FIXED AND I JUST GOT IT. IT LOCKED UP ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND WOULD NOT SHIFT IN TO NEUTRAL OR IN GEAR SO I COULD GET IT OUT THE ROAD. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES I FINALLY GOT IT TO RELEASE INTO NEUTRAL AND IT ROLLED BACK OFF THE ROAD. NOW IT SAYS SERVICE E BRAKE. THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE FIXED BECAUSE THIS IS WAY BEYOND YOUR TYPICAL CAR ISSUE THAT CAN BE FIXED FOR A FEW BUCKS. UNSAFE FOR MY KIDS.

WHILE DRIVING A SERVICE 4WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER INVESTIGATION THERE SEEMS TO BE A RECALL ON THE PTU'S BUT MY CAR WAS NOT LISTED. AFTER INVESTIGATION THIS SEEMS TO BE A WELL KNOW ISSUE WITH THESE PTU'S FAILING. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CAN'T EVEN LOCATE ONE OR GET AN ETA FOR THESE UNITS BECAUSE THEY ARE IN SO MUCH DEMAND. NO MATTER WHAT DEALER I CALL THEY ARE ALREADY WELL AWARE OF THE ISSUE AS SOON AS I SAY PTU WHICH PROVES THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE.
I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP BACK IN NOVEMBER AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT FAILURE. THERE WAS A RECALL BUT THEY SAID MY VIN DID NOT FALL UNDER IT. I HAD THEM ORDER THE PART AND THEY KEEP GIVING ME NEW ETA'S ON THE PART. AS OF TODAY THEY HAVE INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS SUCH A DEMAND FOR THIS PART THEY HAVE GIVEN ME A NEW ETA OF FEBRUARY 4TH 2021. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE SO WHY ISN'T MY VEHICLE COVERED. NOW I WILL NEED TO RENT A CAR FOR AT LEAST A MONTH AND A HALF IF THERE ETA IS CORRECT WHICH IT HASN'T BEEN THE LAST 5 TIMES. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AS THEY CAN'T MAKE THIS PART FAST ENOUGH FOR THE DEMAND. I PREVIOUSLY PUT THIS CLAIM IN BUT HAVE NOT GOTTEN ANY RESPONSE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE POSSIBLY NOT BEING REPORTED BY CUSTOMERS WHO DO NOT HAVE TO ABSORB THE COST.
