SERVICE SHIFTER WHILE DRIVING CITY STREET BEFORE 09/07/2019
2016 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK - ~57,000 MILES. DRIVING TO WORK THIS MORNING (STRAIGHT AT ABOUT 40MPH) "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE CAME OVER DASHBOARD SCREEN AND RED LIGHTS LIT FOR PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, DRIVE. THE ISSUE WENT AWAY AFTER RESTART AND I HAVE NOT ENCOUNTERED AGAIN YET (RESTARTED TWICE SINCE THIS MORNING, ONCE AT AAA AND ONCE TO MOVE IT WHEN I WAS AT HOME). I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH DEALERSHIP TOMORROW. GOOGLE SEARCH SHOWS THIS ISSUE TO BE PROFOUND. I'M SURPRISED THERE IS NOT A RECALL ALREADY BUT THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A CONSISTENT ANSWER FOR WHY THIS ISSUE IS OCCURRING - HOPEFULLY DEALERSHIP WILL BE ABLE TO REPAIR.
WHILE DRIVING MY SUV TWICE IT DECELERATED AND WOULD NOT MOVE I COULDN'T PUSH THE GAS TO MAKE IT GO FASTER OR ANYTHING. WHEN I TURNED IT OF AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON IT HAD TROUBLE STARTING BACK UP. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS 2 QUARTS LOW ON OIL. I JUST HAD AN OIL CHANGE 2 MONTHS AGO AND GET THE SYNTHETIC OIL TO IMPROVE MY ENGINES LIFE, I'M NOT SURE FOR AN OIL CHNAGE UNTIL NOVEMBER 19. MY DEALERSHIP PUT OIL IN FOR ME AND SAID THAT THIS ENGINE SHUTTING DOWN IS A FAIL SAFE TO PROTECT THE ENGINE FROM BEING DAMAGED. THIS EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN VERY FRIGHTENING AS BOTH TIMES I WAS DRIVING ON MAJOR ROADWAYS. MY DEALERSHIP HAS ADVISED ME TO COME BACK IN AND GET A OIL CHANGE AND THEY WILL SEAL MY OIL RESERVOIR COMPONENTS AND PUT A DYE PACK IN AND HAVE ME COME BACK IN AFTER DRIVING 1000 MILES. AFTER READING THE REVIEWS ON THIS WEBSITE IT APPEARS MANY OTHERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUES WHICH TRULY FRIGHTENS ME I BOUGHT MY TRUCK BRAND NEW AND IT ON HAS 32500 MILES ON IT, I HOPE THAT SOME MAJOR INVESTIGATIONS OCCUR BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT OR WORSE.
"SERVICE SHIFTER" COMES ON THE DASH AND ALL SHIFTER RED LIGHTS COME ON. HAVE READ THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM REQUIRING A WIRE HARNESS AND SOMETIMES A SHIFTER CHANGE. DEALERS HAVE BEEN CHARGING FOLKS FOR ALL KINDS OF THINGS. SEEMS RATHER ABUSIVE.
THE 'SERVICE SHIFTER' ERROR MESSAGE CAME UP ON MY DISPLAY ON MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT. AT THE SAME TIME ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY GEAR CONSOLE TURNED RED FROM PARK ALL THE WAY TO REVERSE. ALL WERE LIT RED. I CALLED THE DEALER TO SEE IF IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AND TO MAKE APPOINTMENT. THEY SAID DRIVE WITH CARE (LIKE I CAN BE CAREFUL BUT HOW DO I KNOW IT WON'T JUMP GEARS) WHEN I PARKED AND TURNED OFF CAR AND TURNED ON AGAIN THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARED ALONG WITH RED LIGHTS. IN RESEARCHING ONLINE I FOUND OVER 50 OTHER JEEP OWNERS WITH SAME ISSUE. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO FIX TOMORROW BUT I AM AFRAID THEY WILL SAY WHAT OTHERS ARE REPORTING 'THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE' AND WILL DISREGARD IT. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND IN PARK AT TIME OF INCIDENT
WHEN DRIVING MY JEEP IT ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTS BEEPING AND SAYING SERVICE SHIFTER, THEN MY WHOLE SHIFTER LIGHTS UP. WHEN I GO TO PUT MY CAR IN PARK IT REVERSES ABOUT 2 FEET BACK BEFORE IT PARKS AND EVEN THOUGH IM NOT MOVING MY JEEP SHOWS MY RPM AT 1.
CAR HAS COMPLETELY STALLED AND LOCKED UP TO A POINT WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL CANNOT BE MOVED, HAZARD LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN ON, CANNOT CHANGE THE GEAR AT ALL. HAD TO HAVE A FLAT BED TOW BECAUSE THE WHEELS WERE LOCKED, TOW DRIVER HAD TO USE DISH SOAP TO GET THE WHEELS TO SLIDE UP THE RAMP. JEEP DEALERSHIP FIRST REPLACED THE BATTERY, THEN REPLACED THE BCM AND IT IS STILL A SOLID BRICK. THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS WRONG. THIS HAS COST ME $600 SO FAR WITHOUT EVEN A REPAIR. MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IS DRIVING THIS DANGEROUS CAR. I HAVE SEEN THE FORUMS AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS JEEP, IT NEEDS A RECALL. AS SOON AS WE CAN GET IT RUNNING AGAIN, WE WILL BE TRADING IT IN. I CAN'T HAVE HER IN A DEATH TRAP, IT STALLS WITHOUT WARNING AND WE HAD TO PUT THE HOOD UP TO WARN OTHER DRIVERS BECAUSE THE HAZARDS WOULDN'T EVEN TURN ON. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 23000 MILES ON IT, IT SHOULD REALLY NOT BE DOING THIS.
THE CAR WAS STOPPED FOR A LIGHT AND COMPLETELY DIED, THE HAZARDS WOULDN'T EVEN TURN ON. THE SHIFTER AND STEERING WHEEL WERE LOCKED. IT WOULD NOT RE-START. WE HAD TO CALL A FLAT BED TOW TRUCK WHO COULDN'T EVEN GET THE WHEELS TO MOVE, HE HAD TO USE DISH SOAP SO THE WHEELS WOULD SLIDE UP THE RAMP. THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, OTHER CARS COULDN'T EVEN TELL THERE WAS AN ISSUE BECAUSE THE HAZARDS WOULDN'T TURN ON. MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR AT THE TIME AND HAD TO GO OUT IN TRAFFIC, WITH CARS BEEPING, YELLING AND USING RUDE HAND GESTURES AT HER SO SHE COULD PUT THE HOOD UP. THIS CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE BATTERY, IT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY REPLACED THE BCM, THAT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. WE ARE NOW WITHOUT A CAR BUT I'D RATHER NO CAR THEN HAVE HER KILLED WHILE TRYING TO DRIVE THIS JEEP. THERE ARE OVER 40 COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM ON CAR COMPLAINTS.COM AND THE GRANDE CHEROKEE HAD A RECALL FOR THE EXACT PROBLEM, LOCKING UP AND STALLING, THIS NEEDS A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED!
ALL OF THE SHIFT LIGHTS WERE RED, AND RECEIVED A MESSAGE TO HAVE SHIFT SERVICED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAD THIS ISSUE. THE FIRST TIME WAS IN 2017 AND THE SHIFT WAS REPLACED BY WARRANTY. CLEARLY THERE IS A PROBLEM SOMEWHERE, THERE IS NO REASON FOR A CAR THAT IS 3 YEARS OLD TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE MULTIPLE TIMES. I WILL BE GOING TO THE DEALER TO GET THE ISSUE DIAGNOSED.
CONTINUOUS SOFTWARE UPDATE MESSAGE PREVENTED USAGE OF ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT WHILE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING ON THE ROAD. THIS RESULTS IN THE OPERATOR REMOVING THEIR EYES FROM THE ROAD TO DEAL WITH WHAT APPEARS TO BE NON-FUNCTIONING EQUIPMENT. NO SIMPLE CANCEL BUTTON WAS AVAILABLE TO PREVENT THIS MAJOR DISTRACTION AND SAFETY CONCERN WHILE TRAVELING. UPDATE MESSAGE DISABLES AND MAKES ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT USELESS UNTIL UPDATE IS INSTALLED.
PURCHASED 2106 JEEP CHEROKEE IN APRIL 2019. HAD CAR LOOKED OVER AND OIL CHANGED APRIL 19, 2019 @30,141 MILES. ON 8/14/19 THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE LEAVING A STOP SIGN. TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE CAR. DASHBOARD LIGHTS FLASH AND DISPLAY INSTRUCTS YOU TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK. AFTER 3 ATTEMPTS THE CAR STARTS. THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE. 8/24/19 THE SAME EVENT HAPPENS AGAIN, EXCEPT ON A BUSIER ROAD. VERY SCARY AND CONCERNED ABOUT BEING HIT FROM BEHIND. 4 ATTEMPTS TO RESTART CAR, FINALLY STARTS AND I DRIVE DIRECTLY TO MECHANIC. 8/27/19 HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES TO MECHANIC, WHO AGREES THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IN MOVING TRAFFIC. THE COMPUTER DOES NOT INDICATE ANY PROBLEM. BASED ON INFORMATION I HAD FOUND ON LINE, HE CHECKS THE OIL TO FIND NO OIL ON THE DIPSTICK. CAR IS @ 35,242 MILES & CONSUMED 4 QTS OF OIL DURING 5100 MILES. I AM TOLD THAT THIS IS WAY TOO MUCH OIL TO BE USED FOR THIS NUMBER OF MILES. THE MORE I POKE AROUND ON LINE, I SEE THAT MANY JEEP CHEROKEE OWNERS ARE REPORTING THE SAME PROBLEMS. COUNTLESS THAT HAVE HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, WHICH I CAN'T BEGIN TO THINK HOW DEADLY THAT CAN BE. IT APPEARS THAT JEEP/CHRYSLER IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THEY HAVE RECALLED THE 2019 JEEP CHEROKEE FOR THIS PROBLEM. I WOULD ALSO BELIEVE THIS IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM WITH EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL BEING BURNED. I DO HAVE RECEIPTS FROM THE SERVICE GARAGE. PLEASE HELP
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, THE HIGH BEAMS FAILED TO OPERATE AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LIA CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM COLONIE AUTO REPAIR & SERVICE CENTER DEALER, LOCATED AT 2116 CENTRAL AVE, SCHENECTADY, NY 12304, WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AS DESIGNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 21,000. *DT*JB
THE CAR WAS PARKED. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR, ALL LIGHTS FOR THE GEARS (P,R,N,D) ON THE SHIFTER WERE LIGHT UP RED AND SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE APPEARED. I SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT AND THE CAR OPERATED NORMALLY. 3 DAYS LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. A SEARCH ONLINE HAS SHOWN MANY JEEP OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE.
WE PURCHASED A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE AND WITH 20K MILES ON IT, WE HAD A SERVICE SHIFTER ISSUE. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND GOT IT REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. SINCE THEN WE NOW HAVE A SECOND SERVICE SHIFTER ISSUE. AGAIN WE BROUGHT IT IN, AS WE WERE PREVIOUSLY TOLD WE HAD A TWO YEAR WARRANTY ON THE PART ITSELF. NOW THEY WANT TO REPLACE THE SHIFTER BEZEL AND WIRING HARNESS. SEARCHING ONLINE IN FORUMS MY WIFE AND I ARE APART OF 100S OF OWNERS OF JEEP VEHICLES FROM 2016 THROUGH 2017 THAT HAVE SHIFTER PROBLEMS. LASTLY, WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED BY OUR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BY CHRYSLER. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR ALL DRIVERS OF THESE VEHICLES AND SHOULD BE A RECALL TO GET IT FIXED. SERVICE SHIFT LIGHT CAME ON DASHBOARD AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFT PANEL WERE LITE, WHILE WE WERE DRIVING. SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED WITHIN A MONTH. CAN'T FIND A RECALL, BUT I SEE IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO OTHER JEEP OWNERS. IS IT SAFE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE?
VEHICLE LAUNCHES INTO 3RD GEAR FROM 2ND GEAR
WAS DRIVING VEHICLE ABOUT 35 MPH WHEN "SERVICE SHIFTER" APPEARED IN THE DASH AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFT WENT RED; WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN, STOP, TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND THE LIGHTS WENT AWAY. HAPPENED AGAIN THE FOLLOWING DAY, DRIVING AROUND 30 MPH THIS TIME, REPEATED THE SAME ACTIONS.
SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE, ALL LIGHTS ON SHIFTER ARE LIT UP. MANUAL SHIFT DOESNT WORK. NEW SYMPTOM, CAR DIDNT RECOGNIZE CAR WAS IN DRIVE. MESSAGE APPEARED TO SHIFT INTO P THEN DESIRED GEAR. WHEN IGNITION BUTTON PUSHED TO TURN OFF, CAR RESTARTED ON ITS OWN.
THE LUG BOLTS HAVE A THIN CHROME COVER. THESE LUG BOLTS SEEM TO SWELL AS MOISTURE ENTERS OVER TIME. THEY ALSO BECOME DAMAGED AS MAINTENANCE SUCH AS TIRE ROTATION IS PERFORMED. THEY BECOME IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE WITH THE TOOLS SUPPLIED BY THE MANUFACTURER IN THE EVENT OF A FLAT TIRE, LEAVING THE VEHICLE STRANDED. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM THROUGHOUT THE FIAT CHRYSLER GROUP LINE.
STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WHEN CAR WAS IN MOTION ON CITY STREET AND CAR GOT HIT AT ELECTRIC POLE CAUSING POLE AND WIRE DAMAGE AND ROUTE CLOSED FOR LONG PERIOD AND CAR TO GET TOTALED AND LUCKILY I SURVIVED. SPEED WAS AROUND 25-30MPH
BACK ON JULY 2019 MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE WAS BROUGHT TO ALLEN MELLO SERVICE DEPARTMENT DUE NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA AND IT WAS SHAKING. AFTER THEY DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE (THEY REPLACED OIL FILTER HOUSING, DRAINED & REFILLED OIL AND ADJUSTED COOLANT LEVER, "ROCKER ARM/LIFTER NOISE PRESENT AT IDLE. REPLACE RIGHT BANK AND LEFT BANK INTAKE & EXHAUSE CAMSHAFTS, LIFTGERS, AND ROCKER ARMS) I SPENT $3,301.05 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AND I FEEL AS THOUGH THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN UNDER MY WARRANTY OR CHRYSTER SHOULD HAVE PAID 1/2 OF THE BILLED. SHOULD SOMETHING SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALLED OR WAS THIS VEHICLE MISSED TO BE ON RECALL SAFETY LIST. THIS WAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE LIKELY IT WAS FIXED. BUT I FEEL I SHOULD BE COMPENSAED FOR ALL OR HALF OF THE BILLED. SEE INVOICE ATTACHED.

BOUGHT THIS CAR AT 17K MILES AND NOW HAVE 50K. 10K BEFORE THE WARRANTY RUNS OUT AND DEALER WILL ONLY ADDRESS THIS ISSUE IF THE VEHICLE WILL SHOW THIS ISSUE AT THE TIME IT IS AT THE DEALER. ISSUE IS UNPREDICTABLE. CAR JERKS HARD FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR, ALMOST AS IF YOU HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED. CAR HAS TROUBLE SHIFTING TO HIGHER SPEED UPON ENTERING THE HIGHWAY. THE SERVICE SHIFTER INDICATOR KEEPS COMING ON. IT COMES ON WHEN I START THE VEHICLE. AT TIMES IT WILL GO OFF WHEN I TURN OFF THE CAR BUT COMES BACK ON AFTER A WHILE.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO PARK AND BACK INTO DRIVE IN ORDER TO RESET THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DAN CUMMINS CHRYSLER DODGE, JEEP, RAM (2021 ALVERSON DRIVE, PARIS, KENTUCKY 40361, (859)-987-5669) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,750.
"SERVICE SHIFTER " RANDOMLY LIGHTS UP ON CONTROL PANEL WHEN DRIVING. YOU NEED TO STOP AND SHUT OFF VEHICLE TO MAKE IT GO AWAY. OCCURS MOSTLY WHEN JUST STARTING FROM STOPPED POSITION.

IN ADDITION, THE RPMS FAILED TO INCREASE TO 2,000 AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY CABLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT USED THE LPB READER AND RECEIVED CODE: P0887 (TCM HIGH VOLTAGE). THE CONTACT CALLED EAST TENNESSEE DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (2774 N MAIN ST, CROSSVILLE, TN 38555, (931) 463-3640), BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
VEHICLE, WHILE IN MOTION, STALLS AND ENGINE SHUTS OFF AT ANY SPEED. BEING TOLD OIL BURNS TOO QUICKLY IN THESE VEHICLES AND THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE THE CAR HAS ALTHOUGH IT HAS ALMOST COST ME MULTIPLE SERIOUS/POTENTILLY FATAL COLLISIONS WITH MY INFANT CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. NO OIL INDICATOR HAS EVER TURNED ON INDICATING OIL LEVEL IS LOW. HAD SAME ISSUE WITH THIS CAR AT 15,000 MILES IN WHICH ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY REPLACED BUT NOW IS DOING THE SAME THING AS BEFORE. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE AMONGST JEEPS - WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL? THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND OUR LIVES AND THE LIVES OF OUR CHILDREN ARE AT RISK AS I ALMOST WAS T-BONED TODAY AS MY ENGINE STALLED IN A BUSY INTERSECTION. I WAS ATTEMPTING TO TURN BUT HAD NOT YET MANEUVERED AND WAS LEFT STALLED IN THE MIDDLE BLOCKING ONCOMING TRAFFIC ON A BUSY CITY STREET BUT HAD HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM HAPPEN ON A HIGHWAY.
FOR THE SECOND TIME WHILE DRIVING "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE CAME ON AND ALL LIGHTS ON GEAR BOX LIT UP. PULLED OVER AND CUT CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AND LIGHTS WENT OFF

MY WIFE'S JEEP CHEROKEE 2016 WHILE DRIVING 3 TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH HAS STALLED WHILE MAKING A SLIGHT RIGHT TURN. THE DISPLAY SIGNALS ENGINE, AND BATTERY FLASH AND THEN THE CAR DIES WITH NO POWER INSTANTLY. MY PREGNANT WIFE WAS COMMUTING DURING RUSH HOUR THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED AND THIS NEARLY CAUSED HER TO BE REAR ENDED. LUCKILY THE DRIVER BEHIND HER WAS PAYING ATTENTION AND AVOIDED THE COLLISION. NOW MY WIFE WAS STUCK IN TRAFFIC WITH NO POWER FOR 5 MINUTES UNTIL THE CAR TURNED BACK ON. AFTER A LOT OF ONLINE RESEARCH, I FOUND 90 PLUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS EXACT ISSUE. APPARENTLY THE 2.4 L MOTOR IN THE 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE HAS A SAFETY FEATURE THAT CAUSES THIS STALLING BASED ON LOW OIL LEVELS. SO THIS POORLY ENGINEERED ENGINE BURNS 1 QT OF OIL PER 1000 MILES, THIS CAUSES YOUR OIL TO RUN SIGNIFICANTLY LOW BEFORE THE MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDED OIL SERVICE PERIODS. MY MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND HAS COME TO THE SAME CONCLUSION, WE WILL HAVE TO ADD 1 QT OF OIL EVERY THOUSAND MILES. THIS CAR HAS LESS THAN 36K MILES AND WILL NOW REQUIRE EXTRA OIL FOR ITS LIFE, WHICH IS RIDICULOUSLY TEDIOUS FOR A 30K$ CAR. HOWEVER THE STALLING WITH NO WARNING AND CAUSING LOSS OF POWER IN TRAFFIC WILL EVENTUALLY LEAD TO ACCIDENTS AND SHOULD BE A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN.
TAKATA RECALL. I TURNED ON ENGINE TO MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE 30,000 MILES VEHICLE AND A 'SERVICE SHIFTER' APPEARED ON THE DASH SCREEN. THE SHIFTER ITSELF WERE ALL LID UP RED. WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO IDENTIFY WHAT SHIFT I WAS CURRENTLY IN AND SHIFTERS REMAINED ALL RED WHILE THE JEEP WAS IN DRIVE AND IN MOTION. I FELT UNSAFE BECAUSE I HAD A TODDLER IN THE VEHICLE AND CURRENTLY PREGNANT AND FEEL THAT IT'S NECESSARY THAT JEEP TAKES ACTION IN SOLVING THIS MATTER.
VEHICLE'S SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT REMAINS ON AND ALL LIGHTS BESIDE GEARS PRND REMAIN ON. OCCURS AT ANY GIVEN TIME WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR NOT.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT RANDOMLY APPEARS ON INFO SCREEN INDASH AND LIGHTS UP SHIFTER MOUNT AREA. NO RHYME OR REASON AS TO WHY IT COMES ON, NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE BUT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WHEN GOOGLED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

WHILE ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE STALLS AND WON'T MOVE, MESSAGE COMES UP TO PUT IT IN PARK AND THEN THE GEAR YOU WANT. SERVICE TRANSMISSION. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 TIMES NOW, VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS. AT TIMES THE VEHICLE ALSO HAS A HARD JERK WHILE ACCELERATING. THIS VEHICLE IS GOING IN FOR SERVICE FOR THE FOURTH TIME MENTIONING THIS ISSUE. MECHANICS CAN'T FIND THE ISSUE, BUT DID SEE THE COMPUTER DID SHOW SOMETHING. ONLY OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 21 MONTHS NOW. SO UNSAFE WHILE DRIVING AND THE CAR WON'T MOVE WHILE DRIVING! POSSIBLY CAN GET REAR ENDED. WE DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE NOT KNOWING WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN.

I PURCHASED A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED JEEP LATITUDE. WITHIN TWO MONTHS THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENTIRE CONSOLE LIT UP RED. THIS ISSUE CONTINUED OFF AND ON UNTIL I TOOK IT FOR SERVICING. THIS ISSUE SHOWED UP WHILE IN PARK IN MY DRIVEWAY, WHEN PULLING OUT AND THEN WHEN I STOPPED AT A GAS STATION. IT WAS FIXED IN MINUTES ???? BUT IT APPEARS THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE NEVER CORRECTED BY CHRYSLER/ JEEP
SERVICE SHIFTER NOTIFICATION KEEPS POPPING UP AND YOU MUST STOP VEHICLE AND TURN IT OFF AND OPEN THE DOOR TO RESET IT. APPARENTLY THERE IS A PLASTIC PIECE THAT GOES BAD AND HAS TO BE REPLACED. THIS HAS HAPPENED A LOT SO WHY IS THERE NO RECALL?
ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHILE IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET ALL OF THE GEAR SHIFTS LIGHTS CAME ON AND WHERE YOU SEE YOUR MILEAGE THAT SCREEN READ SERVICE SHIFTER. THIS STAYED VISIBLE UNTIL THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THE CAR ALSO JERKS WHILE IN MOTION AND THE BRAKES WHERE SUPPOSED TO BE FIXED LAST WEEK FROM THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM BUT ITS STILL FEELS LIKE THE BRAKES ARE GRINDING.
THE PROBLEM STARTED 7/23/2019. THE JEEP IS STOPPING RANDOMLY AT RED LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS. IT STARTS BACK UP BUT THE AC IS ON DEFROST AND I HAVE TO PUT IT BACK ON COOL. THE FIRST TIME IT DID THIS I READ ABOUT SOME REVIEWS THAT STATED IT COULD BE BECAUSE AN OIL CHANGE IS NEEDED. SINCE IT WAS TIME FOR AN OIL CHANGE, I DID THAT. BUT THE NEXT DAY IT DID THE SAME THING, RANDOMLY STOPPING. ALSO CHANGED A DIRTY AIR FILTER. SCHEDULED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST FOR 7/29/19 AND WILL SEE IF JEEP CAN HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM.
TRANSMISSION POPS OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY , VEHICLE COMES TO A STOP AND ROLLS BACK AND WHEN PUT IN GEAR IT TAKES MORE THAN 10 SECONDS TO ENGAGE AFTER GAS IS APPLIED.VEHICLE ALSO STALLS OUT WHEN YOU COME TO A STOP, ONCE IT STALLS OUT YOU HAVE TO PUT VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURN IGNITION OFF AND TRY TO TURN IT ON AGAIN ALMOST GOT HIT FROM BEHIND COUPLE TIMES.ENGINE HAS EXTERNAL HEAD GASKET LEAKS VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 20K ONCE TRANSMISSION START ACTING UP AND LEAKING COOLANT FROM ENGINE BETWEEN CYLINDER HEAD AND BLOCK ALL AROUND ENGINE.THERE HAS BEEN A LEAK FROM THE CABIN OR DOORS FROM DAY ONE WHEN CAR WAS NEW ONCE YOU GET TO 45+MPH AND BRAKES ALSO CHATTER I HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED 3 TIMES LESS THAN 30,000 MIES ON THE CAR THE CHATTERING KEEPS COMING BACK.VEHICLE STALLS AND TRANSMISSION POPS OUT OG GEAR ON THE HIGHWAY.IT THROUGHS A TRANSMISSION FAULT CODE AND TURNS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON FAULT CODE P0887-00 TCM CIRCUIT FALT IM SCARED TO DRIVE HE VEHICLE AND JEEP WONT DO ANYTHING. TRUCK KEEPS LOSING POWER LIKE IT WANTS TO STALL AND THE SERVICE SHIIFTER IS ON. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY CAN FIND OUT WHY THE TRUCK IS LOSING POWER AND THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THE SERVICE SHIFTER HAS BEEN ON.
WHEN DRIVING UNDER SLIPPERY CONDITIONS THE TRACTION CONTROL DOES NOT WORK. HAVE CONTACTED 2 DEALERS IN THE AREA AND BOTH HAVE REFUSED TO LOOK AT IT.

I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND THEY TELL ME THE SHIFTER BEZEL AND WIRING HARNESS FAULT REPAIR IS NEEDED WHICH IS ALMOST $300 AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. MY CAR HAS LESS THAN 36,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW; IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. WHILE RESEARCHING I'VE NOTICED MANY JEEP OWNERS ARE HAVING TO SAME ISSUE AND THAT'S HOW I DISCOVERED TO WRITE UP THIS CLAIM. I FEEL IT COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AND LOCKS UP.
