MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE HAS SUDDENLY TURNED OFF TWICE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING. A "SHIFT GEAR" LIGHT WARNING APPEARS ON THE DASHBOARD. BOTH TIMES IT OCCURED SHORTLY WHILE STARTING TO DRIVE HOME FROM WORK. THEREFORE, OCCURED WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF STARTING THE ENGINE. THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURED WITHIN SECONDS AFTER TURNING LEFT AT A LIGHT.
BOUGHT A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE WITH 60MILES ON IT WITHIN 3 WEEKS CAR SHUT OFF 3 TIME WHILE DRIVING WITH SIGNAL SHIFT GEAR COMES ON. HAVE TO PUT CAR IN PARK AND TURN OFF CAR AND TURN ON A FEW TIMES AND IT WILL BE FINE TWO MONTHS LATER IT HAPPENS AGAIN THIS TIME HAPPENING A FEW TIME IN THE SAME DAY A FEW MINUTES APART. THIS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT HAPPENS WHILE YOUR DRIVING ON THE ROAD WITH NO WARNING.
ONE DAY MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR NO REASON. I DIDNT HIT ANYTHING. NO ONE HIT ME AS FAR AS I KNOW.
REOCCURRING SVC 4WD WHILE DRIVING WITH 'JERKY' MOVEMENTS, EACH TIME DEALER REPORTS COMPUTER ERROR AND RESETS IT. FOURTH TIME IN 8 MONTHS.
SERVICE SHIFTER DISPLAYS ON DASH WHEN TURNING ON THE CAR. THE GEAR SHIFT LIGHTS ALL TURNED RED, AND THERE WAS NO ABILITY TO SWITCH GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME, AND THE SHIFTER WAS RESET TURNING THE CAR ON AND OFF.
2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED FWD, MISFIRING AND SHAKING BEGAN WHILE STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WHILE DRIVING AFTERWARDS FOR 1/2 MILE. AUTOMATIC START/STOP WAS ON. PULLED OFF ROAD AND TURNED ENGINE OFF AND LET SET FOR 1-HOUR. RESTARTED VEHICLE AND BEGAN SHAKING AND MISFIRING AGAIN. THIS TIME ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND START/STOP SYSTEM WARNING CAME ON. SHUT VEHICLE OFF AGAIN AND LET SIT FOR 30 MINUTES. STARTED VEHICLE AGAIN AND PUT IN REVERSE, DROVE FOR A FEW MINUTES AND VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING AND MISFIRING AGAIN WHILE GOING THROUGH THE SHIFTING SEQUENCE. DROVE IT TO A DEALERSHIP AND IT DID THIS THE ENTIRE WAY, APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES. NO MATTER WHAT SPEED I WAS DRIVING IT WAS STILL HAPPENING. THE SHAKING/MISFIRING SEEMED TO SUBSIDE A LITTLE WHEN A/C WAS NOT IN USE. IN ADDITION TO OTHER WARNING LIGHTS COMING ON, SERVICE-SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON WHILE MAKING A RIGHT-HAND TURN.
WHILE DRIVING 65-70MPH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON CAR STARTED TO LOSS POWER AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE. WHEN WE CAME TO A STOP HARD CAR ACCELERATED SLOWLY. WE TURNED OFF CAR FOR A WHILE AND RESTARTED IT ACCELERATION CAME BACK BUT CHECK LITE ON. NEXT DAY NO LITE AND CAR WAS FINE TOOK IT IN AND DEALERSHIP RAN A QUICK TEST COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. IT HAPPENED AGAIN 4 DAYS LATER AFTER DRIVING 3 HRS AT 65 MPH AND THE NEXT DAY IT WAS FINE. *TR
"SERIVE SHIFTER" APPEARS ON THE DASH SCREEN AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS P, R, N, D, +/- LIGHT UP ON THE SHIFTER WHILE MOVING, BUT I ALSO HAD IT HAPPEN ONCE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING. THE CAR STILL DRIVES, AND IF SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE MESSAGE AND LIGHTS GO AWAY. THIS HAPPENS PERIODICALLY. ALL OF THE GEARS STILL WORK, AND THE CAR RECOGNIZING WHICH GEAR IT IS IN.
SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE CAME UP ON DASH WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MILES AN HOUR, ALL LIGHTS LIT UP ON SHIFTER. CANNOT CLEAR MESSAGE WITHOUT PULLING OVER AND SHUTTING CAR OFF, THEREFORE SPEEDO.ETER AND OTHER CAR SAFETY INFORMATION IS UNAVAILABLE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON AND OFF FOR MONTHS.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON, NO CODES ASSOCIATED WITH IT.
REAR LATCH WOULD NOT CLOSE. ACTUALLY OPENED WHILE DRIVING. IF SLAMMED ENOUGH FINALLY CLOSES BUT COULDN'T OPEN FOR RISK OF NOT CLOSING. SENSORS READ AN OPEN DOOR . AFTER WAITING 3 MONTHS FOR PART EVENTUALLY BATTERY ISSUES.
THE SHIFTER SERVICE LIGHT IS COMING ON. I CUT THE CAR BACK OFF, TOOK THE KEY OUT AND RESTARTED THE CAR, BUT THE LIGHT WILL COME BACK ON AFTER AWHILE. IT WAS STATIONARY WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED. IT HAS DONE IT WHILE DRIVING THOUGH.
AT 43000 A MESSAGE ON THE INSTRUMENT DISPLAY CAME ON TWICE OVER 2 DAYS. IT SAID "SERVICE SHIFTER". THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE SHIFT BEZEL AND WIRING HARNESS HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL DESIGN WAS DEFECTIVE. THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. FAULTY OPERATION OF THE GEAR SELECTOR COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE BEING INOPERABLE. THAT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. JEEP SHOULD FIX THIS..
TURNED CAR IGNITION ON AND SAT IN PARKING LOT. ABOUT TEN MINUTES LATER A SHIFTER SERVICE MESSAGE APPEARED ON DISPLAY AND ALL LIGHTS ON GEAR SHIFT LIT UP. 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE WITH APPROXIMATELY 34000 MILES. I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS MESSAGE BEFORE. MESSAGE AND LIGHTS WENT AWAY AFTER SHUTTING OFF CAR AND TURNING BACK ON.
WHILE DRIVING, THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND ALL GEAR LIGHTS ON SHIFTER ILLUMINATE. STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE TEMPORARILY FIXES THE WARNING. THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN "FIXED" ONCE BY THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AT CONSIDERABLE COST TO US. NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN.
I BOUGHT MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED NEW AND FOR THE FIRST 100, 000 MILES HAD NO PROBLEM WITH IT UNTIL ONE DAY I WAS DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY AND MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE, THE ENGINE HIT 5000 RPM AT 45 MPH AND WOULD RED LINE IF I WENT FASTER, I PULLED OVER AND COULD NOT SHUT VEHICLE OFF AND RADIO, WIPERS AND EVERYTHING WERE GOING ON THEIR OWN INCLUDING EVERY WARNING LIGHT POSSIBLE. AFTER ABOUT 20 MIN IDLE I DECIDED TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND RECONNECT AND IT STARTED BACK UP WITH ENGINE LIGHT REMAINING ON. I TOOK TO DEALERSHIP THEY WEREN'T SURE WHY ALL CODES WERE GOING OFF BUT CHECKED AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND RESET THE LIGHT. A MONTH LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN THIS TIME AT 65MPH DURING A SNOWFALL ON THE HIGHWAY BUT THIS TIME THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP I MANAGED TO BRAKE AND STOP ON HIGHWAY WITH HAZARD LIGHTS ON AGAIN DISCONNECTED BATTERY AND TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE COMPUTER SO AT A COST OF NEARLY $2300 I DID. NO PROBLEMS AFTER THAT UNTIL IT WAS RAINING ONE DAY AND BOOM INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS UP AGAIN, THANKFULLY THE STEERING WHEEL DID NOT LOCK AGAIN. I TAKE IT BACK AND THEY TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT BUT RESET THE LIGHT. NOW I CANT DRIVE MY JEEP WHEN IT RAINS FOR FEAR OF MORE ISSUES. FAST FORWARD 3 MONTHS TO TODAY, I AM ABOUT A MILE FROM MY HOME AND THE DASH LIGHTS UP SAYING SERVICE SHIFTER REQUIRED. AND ALL THE LIGHTS FOR P,R,N,D ARE ALL RED, I TRIED TO TURN OFF AND START AGAIN WITH NO LUCK THE LIGHTS AND WARNING STAYS ON, THE DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER WONT COME UP BECAUSE THE WARNING IS THERE AND I CANT CYCLE IT OFF. I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND NOTICED A GREAT DEAL MANY OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AT ALL DIFFERENT MILES. I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO AT THIS POINT. I BELIEVE JUST THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP ALONE SHOULD BE WARRANT ENOUGH FOR A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS NOT AS LUCKY AS I WAS.
THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON FOR NO OBVIOUS REASON, AS I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND NO ONE TOUCHED THE SHIFTER. IT SCARED ME, SO I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND CHECKED IT BUT IT WAS IN GEAR. SO I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED IT AND THE MESSAGE NEVER CAME BACK ON THAT DAY. SINCE THEN, WHICH WAS ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO, THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT HAS COME ON 4 OTHER TIMES. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON BOTH THE HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS. SPEEDS FROM 40MPH TO 70MPH. MY CHILD DRIVES THIS CAR. SO I AM ESPECIALLY CONCERNED FOR HER SAFETY REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
JUMPING TRANSMISSION. DECELERATE'S WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY.
WHILE IN MOTION: 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE WILL RANDOMLY LOSE ENGINE POWER DURING A RIGHT TURN (ON HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEED AND AT LOW SPEED ON CITY STREET), STEERING LOCKS UP, DECELERATES AUTOMATICALLY, AND DASH SAYS TO PUT VEHICLE INTO MANUAL MODE AND SELECT THE DESIRED GEAR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT TWO TIMES.
THIS VEHICLE SEEMS TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT ME DOING ANYTHING WHEN IN MOTION. SHIFT SERVICES LIGHT COMES ON FREQUENTLY. WHEN YOU TURN THE CAR ON THE CAR ACCELERATES OR SEEMS TO STALL. ENGINE WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY. IT MAKES AN EXCESSIVE NOISE WHEN YOU ACCELERATE IN MOTION.
THE TRANSMISSION IS SHIFTING ROUGH SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF GEARS CAUSING MY JEEP TO ACCELERATE GOING DOWN HILLS MY RPM RAPIDLY RISE AND FALL
SERVICE SHIFTER ALARM
WAS DRIVING, COMING TO A STOP AND SCREEN FLASHED PUT GEAR INTO PARK TO CHANGE GEARS. SO I PUT IT IN PARK AND THEN BACK INTO DRIVE AND SAME THING POPPED UP. I PUT IT BACK INTO PARK, SHUT THE CAR OFF. TRIED TO TURN IT BACK ON AND IT WOULDN'T START. THEN I TRIED AGAIN, LEFT KEY ON AND IT JUST WHIRLED OVER 3-4 TIMES AND FINALLY STARTED. AND EVERYTHING WAS GONE AND I COULD DRIVE AGAIN. A FEW WEEKS PRIOR, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, AND I HAD A SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COME ON AND ALL THE LIGHTS BY EACH GEAR ON SHIFTER WERE RED.
THE ENGINE LIGHT AND MESSAGE SERVICE TRANSMISSION CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING, HOWEVER I COULD NOT DRIVE OVER 40 MILES AN HOUR IN TRAFFIC ONCE THIS HAPPENED. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE, BUT FOUND THAT THIS WAS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX. WHY WOULD A SOFTWARE DAY CAUSE THIS MUCH OF AN ISSUE AND A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE AT THAT. WHY ISN'T THERE A PERMANENT FIX TO THIS ISSUE.
MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE HAS BEEN SHOWING A SERVICE SHIFTER ON MY SCREEN AND ALL OF MY LIGHTS ARE SOLID ON MY SHIFTER WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I ALSO HAVE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART MY CAR AFTER THIS HAPPENS
VEHICLE STALLS DURING DECELERATION INTO RIGHT HAND TURNS. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRING UNDER THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES. DEALERSHIP IS DENYING ANY PROBLEMS EXIST AND CANNOT DUPLICATE ISSUE. ONLINE COMPLAINTS STATE THAT SOME DEALERSHIPS STATING IT IS DUE TO LOW OIL AND OIL CONSUMPTION IS VERY HIGH AND PROBLEM CAN OCCUR EVEN WITH VEHICLE MAINTAINED TO MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS. I HAVE BEEN ALMOST REAR ENDED SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO THIS ISSUE AND CHRYSLER NEEDS TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND MAKE IT RIGHT NO MATTER THE COST. NO WARNING OR TROUBLE LIGHTS PRIOR TO COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. THEY JUST RECALLED THE 2019 MODELS FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM BUT THEY NEED TO RECALL PRIOR YEARS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN ENTERING THE HIGHWAY WERE CARS OUR TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED.
I TURNED ON THE CAR, LET IT WARM UP FOR ABOUT 3 MINUTES. PUT IT IN DRIVE, I WAS ON THE ROAD FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD TURNED ON, THE CAR STALLED AND THE MOTOR TURNED OFF. THE TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN DRIVE AND I HAD TO FORCEFULLY FIND A WAY TO MOVE IT TO NEUTRAL OR PARK TO RESTART THE CAR. WHEN I CHECKED THE FLUIDS ON THE VEHICLE EVERYTHING WAS OK WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE OIL DIP STICK. ALL THE OIL HAD BURNED AWAY AND I WAS STILL ABOUT 2000 MILES AWAY FROM NEXT OIL CHANGE. ALL MY OIL CHANGES WERE DONE AT THE JEEP DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED AND WE USED SYNTHETIC OIL TO PROTECT THE ENGINE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS THAT NO WARNING SIGNS ARE GIVEN TO THE DRIVERS AND THAT THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I TRIED TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE WITH THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY SAID THAT BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS COMMON PROBLEM, THEY CANNOT RESOLVE IT. PLEASE HELP!
MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE KEEPS GETTING SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHTS. IT HAPPENS WHEN FIRST STARTING THE CAR, WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE SHIFTING INTO PARK. TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON WILL SOMETIMES CLEAR THE ISSUE. SOMETIMES IT TAKES REPEATED TRIES TO GET IT TO CLEAR. IT HAS HAPPENED IN TRAFFIC.WHEN IT HAPPENS THE INFORMATION DISPLAY ON THE DASH SWITCHES TO "SERVICE SHIFTER". NO OTHER INFO IS DISPLAYED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER EXPERIENCING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
WHILE IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET, 'CHECK SHIFTER' APPEARED ON MY DASH AND ALL LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER LIGHT UP RED.
"SERVICE SHIFTER" APPEARED ON MY SCREEN, AND ON MY SHIFTER, EVERYTHING LIT UP IN RED. SOMETHING TELLS ME THIS ISN'T PARTICULARLY SAFE.
THERE IS A LOUD METALLIC KNOCK WHEN SHIFTING GEARS FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE AND VIS VERSA. THIS IS FOLLOWED BY A DELAY IN ACCELERATION WHICH JOLTS THE CAR UNEXPECTEDLY THAT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.
TAMARA RECALL IN 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE THAT I BOUGHT 8 MONTHS AGO, A LIGHT CAME ON THE NOTICE SCREEN THAT SAID 'SERVICE SHIFTER'. IT HAS DONE THIS TWICE TODAY ALREADY, IT WENT AWAY WHEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF BUT CAME BACK ON THE NEXT TIME I STARTED DRIVING. I'M NERVOUS THIS ISSUE MAY LEAVE ME STRANDED. NOT A GOOD LIGHT.
VEHICLE LOSES POWER WHILE DRIVING, ENGINE SHUTS DOWN, STEERING LOCKS AND THE DASH LIGHTS UP WITH A MESSAGE THAT SAYS PUT VEHICLE AND "PARK" AND THEN SELECT DESIRED GEAR. I HAVE TWO SMALL SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS. I KEEP MY VEHICLE UP TO DATE ON MAINTENANCE/SERVICE. I READ OVER 100 PEOPLE'S EXACT SAME COMPLAINTS ON LINE. IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE THAT I AM PAYING A CAR PAYMENT, HAVE LESS THAN 45,000 MILES ON A LESS THAN 3 YEAR OLD VEHICLE, AND HAVING THESE KIND OF SAFETY CONCERNS. WE HAVE ONE VEHICLE, LIMITED MEANS, AND TONS OF THERAPY APPOINTMENTS. TODAY, MY CAR DIED WITH NO WARNING ON A BUSY ROAD, GIVES ME APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS TO PULL TO SAFETY BEFORE THERE IS NO SPEED/ABILITY TO MANUEVER THE VEHICLE. IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT THE RISK IS SO HIGH, AND THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS LISTED ON LINE SHOW A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH THIS AMONG HUNDREDS OF VEHICLES BY JEEP AND NOTHING. THE DEALERSHIPS/SERVICE CONTINUE TO MAKE COMMENTS LIKE "WE WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE". TO BE SPECIFIC: DRIVING AT ABOUT 25 MILES PER HOUR, STRAIGHT FOLLOWING A RIGHT TURN....LOST POWER. LIGHTS WENT ON THE DASH, MESSAGE ABOVE APPEARED. IT TOOK TWO TRIES TO RESTART TO GET ME OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.
THE SHIFTING WHILE IN OPERATION IS VERY ROUGH, JERKS HARD WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THEN THE LIGHT WILL COME ON INDICATING THE AUTOMATIC FUNCTION THAT TURNS THE ENGINE OFF WHILE STOPPED TO SAVE FUEL ISN'T WORKING. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 57,000 MILES. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT A MONTH MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY BOTH ON HWY AND IN TOWN AND ALWAYS WHILE IN MOTION FROM 35 MPH+

ABOUT EVERY 5 WKS MY CAR SAYS SERVICE SHIFTER AND ALL LIGHTS COME ON. NOBODY CAN GET IT TO STAY OFF. EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED I HAD JUST STARTED MY CAR AND TRYING TO PUT IT IN GEAR. DIFFERENT TIMES OF DAY SOME TIMES IT HAD ALREADY BEEN DRIVEN AND OTHERS IT HADN'T.
WHEN I START THE CAR THE SERVICE SHIFTER WILL COME ON AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY SHIFTER LIGHT. I TURNED MY CAT OFF AND BACK ON AND IT WENT OFF. THAT WAS ABOUT A WEEK AGO. NOW IT IS DOING IT EVERY OTHER DAY. CANT SEEM TO FIND WHAT THE PROBLEM IS.
ABOUT A MONTH AGO, MY DAUGHTER BACKED THE CAR OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT BACK INTO DRIVE. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK INTO DRIVE. IT SEEMED FINE AFTER THAT. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A FREAK THING. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO, A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON SAYING "SERVICE SHIFTER". WE TOOK THE CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM FIX IT. THEY ORDERED PARTS BUT SAID IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 4 DAYS FOR THE PARTS TO COME IN. WHEN THE PARTS FINALLY CAME AND WERE INSTALLED, THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" LIGHT WAS STILL ON. I WAS THEN TOLD THEY HAD JUST RECEIVED A COMPANY WIDE MEMO ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND NOW NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SHIFTER. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PART WOULD TAKE WEEKS TO MAYBE MONTHS BEFORE IT WOULD COME IN. THEY TOLD ME THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THE PARTS CAME IN BUT NOT SURE IF THEY EVEN KNOW. I'VE LOOKED THIS PROBLEM UP ONLINE AND SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING.
SHIFTER SERVICE ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED IN TWO OCCASIONS WITHIN THE SPAN OF A MONTH. FIRST ENCOUNTER, WAS A FEW DAYS AFTER TAKING THE CAR OFF THE DEALERSHIP LOT. I WAS ENTERING THE DRIVE AWAY AND ALL OF SUDDEN, SHIFTER SERVICE ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED AND ALL THE GEAR INDICATORS FLASHED BRIGHT RED. AFTER THE DEALERSHIP,, I PROBABLY PUT LESS THAT 10 MILES ON IT AT THIS POINT. TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED THE IGNITION. PUT IT IN DRIVE, THIS TIME WHILE STATIONARY AND IT APPEARED AGAIN. I DIDN'T TAKE A PHOTO THE FIRST TIME, AS I ASSUMED IT WAS A FLUKE. DIDN'T HAPPEN ANYMORE AFTER THAT TILL TODAY, MAY 17TH. I STARTED UP THE IGNITION AND HEADED ON MY WAY OFF, WITHIN 5 MINS OF MY RIDE, I HEARD A BEEP. LOOKED AT THE DASH AND SAW THE SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE AGAIN SO I DROVE OFF INTO A PARKING LOT TO CHECK OUT THE ISSUE. I STOPPED AND WENT INTO PARK. THE RED INDICATORS WERE STILL APPARENT. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE 5X AND REPEATED TURNING ON THE IGNITION, PUT IT IN DRIVE, SERVICE SHIFTER ERROR APPEARS AND GOING INTO PARK AND TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE ALL WHILE STATIONARY IN THE PARKING LOT. AFTER THE 6TH TIME, I TOOK IT SLOW AND IT DIDN'T APPEAR. SINCE THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, I PROBABLY HAVE ONLY DRIVEN THE JEEP LESS THAN 100 MILES.
WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT MY VEHICLE AT THE END OF 2016 BRAND NEW A FEW MONTHS AFTER THAT THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AND ALL THE LIGHTS APPEARED ON MY SHIFTER. I TOOK IT BACK AFTER A FEW MONTHS AND THEY CHANGE THE PART ON IT WHICH IS SEEM TO WORK THE LIGHT DIDN'T COME ON FOR A WHILE. BUT THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT COMES BACK ON SO I KNEW SOMETHING ELSE WAS WRONG. NOW MY TRANSMISSION LIGHT HAS COME ON AND THE CAR DOES MULTIPLE THINGS FOR EXAMPLE FALLING COMPLETELY DEAD WHILE DRIVING. ALSO THE CAR JERKS WHEN ACCELERATING ESPECIALLY ON HIGHWAYS. IT EVEN GOT TO THE POINT WHEN AFTER I WAS GOING ABOUT 50 TO 60 MILES PER HOUR WHEN I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE THERE AFTER. THIS IS BECOMING A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND LIFE-THREATENING TO MYSELF AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE NOT KNOWING AND ANY GIVEN TIME WHEN SOMETHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN.
MY SERVICE SHIFTER POPS UP AND I HAVE HAD IT SWITCH AND OR SERVICED OVER 5 TIMES
WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION MESSAGE APPEARED, EMI LIT & CAR WENT FROM GEAR TO CLUTCH CAUSING LOSS OF POWER & COULD NOT ACCELERATE TO MAINTAIN SPEED. AFTER A FEW MINUTES CAR WENT BACK INTO GEAR & WAS ABLE TO REGAIN PROPER SPEED. WHEN I FILLED WITH GAS THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT WENT OFF. AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 400 MILES THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON AN INTERSTATE, FORTUNATELY IN BOTH INSTANCES, THE TRAFFIC WAS NOT HEAVY & I WAS ABLE TO GET IN RIGHT LANE. IF THERE HAD BEEN HEAVY TRAFFIC THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT STAYED ON SO I TOOK MY JEEP TO A MECHANIC. THE CODE SAYS THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE COMPUTER FOR THE TRANSMISSION, IT GETS TOO HOT& THE CAR GOES OUT OF GEAR TO THE CLUTCH, THEN BACK IN GEAR. I READ ONLINE THERE ARE 37,000 RECALLS ON THIS JEEP PROBLEM, BUT NONE ON MINE. THERE NEEDS TO BE ONE!
WHILE DRIVING AT 65MPH SERVICE TRANSMISSION MESSAGE APPEARED & EMI LIT. CAR LOST POWER & I COULDN'T ACCELERATE. SPEED DROPPED TO ABOUT 40MPH & HAD TO PULL OFF ROAD. FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GO AGAIN & MESSAGE WENT AWAY. HAD CAR DIAGNOSED & THEY SAY IT'S IN TRANSMISSION. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 30 MORE TIMES. I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY $6500 FOR TRANSMISSION REPAIRS & IT IS A HAZARD TO DRIVE! I'M SCARED I'M GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I'VE READ THAT THERE'S ABOUT 37,000 RECALLS FOR THIS ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE OF JEEP, BUT NOT ON MY JEEP. THIS HAS HAPPENED AFTER DRIVING 10 MILES, BUT MAY NOT HAPPEN FOR 100 MILES. IT HAS HAPPENED ON BUSY HIGHWAYS WHERE IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME MY CAR HAS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR CHECKED OIL THERE WAS NONE I AM NOT DUE FOR ANOTHER OIL CHANGE FOR 500 MILES I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW ONLY HAS A LITTLE OVER 19,000 MILES I HOPE THIS IS FIXED IF NOT I WILL BE GETTING RID OF THIS VEHICLE AND WILL NEVER PURCHASE AN JEEP PRODUCT EVERY AGAIN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS I WILL BE CALLING THE DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY
SERVICE SHIFTER SHOWS UP ON DISPLAY AND ALL LIGHTS AT SHIFTER GLOW RED
MY VEHICLE LOST POWER IN THE BRAKES, ACCELERATOR AND STEERING WHEEL. EVERYTHING LOCKED UP WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND COMPLETELY LOST THE ABILITY TO CONTROL MY VEHICLE. THE CAR WOULD NOT FUNCTION UNTIL I TURNED IT OFF AND TRIED TO RESTART IT A FEW TIMES TAKING A COUPLE OF MINUTES. THIS HAPPENED TWICE ON MAY 6TH ON A BUSY STREET, ONCE ON MAY 9TH ON THE HIGHWAY, AND TWICE ON MAY 11TH ON ANOTHER BUSY STREET. THERE WAS NO OIL IN MY CAR. I WAS NOT DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE FOR ANOTHER 3 MONTHS OR 2000 MILES. NO OIL LIGHT INDICATOR CAME ON TO WARN ME ALL MY CAR KEPT DOING WAS STALLING TELLING ME TO SHIFT TO PARK. I WAS TOLD BY THE JEEP DEALERSHIP THAT I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED IN OR ADD OIL BEFORE DRIVING IT TO THEM. THE DEALER EXPLAINED WHEN THE DIPSTICK DOES NOT "FEEL" OIL THE ENTIRE CAR ESSENTIALLY SHUTS DOWN AND LOCKS UP IN ORDER TO "PROTECT THE ENGINE" CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE ALL ABILITY TO CONTROL IT. THEY MIGHT BE PROTECTING THE ENGINE FROM BURNING OIL, BUT TO LOSE FUNCTIONALITY PUTS MY LIFE AND FAMILY IN DANGER. JEEP/CHRYSLER HAVE HAD THIS REPORTED BEFORE AS I FOUND NUMEROUS CASES OF THE SAME STORY. HOWEVER NO RECALL HAVE BEEN ISSUED. I COULD HAVE BEEN IN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I WAS NOT TOLD ANY OF THIS INFORMATION WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW MANY ISSUES HAVE TO BE REPORTED BEFORE SOMETHING CAN BE DONE. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE THIS BECOME A CONCERN.
VEHICLE STALLS AND CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP WITHOUT WARNING. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ON AND NO EXPLANATION. AFTER SEVERAL TIMES IT WAS FOUND THAT THE ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL. OIL CONSUMPTION TEST RESULTED IN AN ENGINE REPLACMENT FROM SCRATCHING ON INSIDE CYLINDER WALLS. NEW ENGINE 11-2017. NEW ENGINE IS STARTING TO DO THE SAME THING AND IS BURNING OIL. CAR WILL SHUT OFF.
Sometimes when I mash the gas pedal to pull out from a stop it hesitates and doesn't move, then is sluggish when it does. This has happened often. It's dangerous.
