SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON. NO APPARENT REASON.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON STREETS AND HIGHWAYS, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD DISENGAGE FROM DRIVE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STOP MOVING, ESPECIALLY ON STEEP GRADS.
SERVICE SHIFTER ERROR ON DASH BOARD. ALL LIGHTS ON GEAR SHIFTER COME ON AT ONCE P,R, N,D. IT ONLY COMES ON WHEN DRIVING AND DOESN'T GO OFF UNTIL THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. IT ISN'T DAILY BUT IT'S STILL SCARY.
MY 2016 JEEP WITH AROUND 23,000 MILES 'SERVICE SHIFTER' ERROR CODE HAS COME ON. IT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT. THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE AND THERE SHOULD BE. JUST MY GOOGLING IT THIS MORNING BROUGHT UP HUNDREDS OF CONSUMERS AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE.
I BOUGHT IT USED AND IT HAD 1 RECALL THAT WAS NOT DISCLOSED AND NOW THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. I HAVE READ 100S OF OTHERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH LITTLE TO NO PERMANENT RESOLUTION.
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK AND TWO MILES INTO MY COMMUTE I NOTICED THAT A MESSAGE APPEARED ON MY DASH. IT IS ( SERVICE SHIFTER) MESSAGE. MY SHIFTER HAS RED LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON ALL THE SELECTIONS IN THE SHIFTER. I OWN A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE 75TH EDITION, WITH ABOUT 58,0000 MILES. I BELIEVE A LOT OF FOLKS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE, WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY BE A HAZARD WHILE DRIVING.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AT 56,000 MILES WHEN I TRIED TO PUT MY CAR IN REVERSE. ALL THE LIGHTS FOR THE SHIFTER CAME ON AND THE CAR DIDN'T WANT TO GO INTO THE RIGHT GEAR. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED 3 TIMES, NOT ALL CONSECUTIVE.
EVERY TIME I'M DRIVING MY CAR AND I APPROACH A STOP SIGN, A LITTLE OR NEED TO STOP THE VEHICLE TURNS OFF. THE CAR DOES NOT TURN ON AFTER 20 TO 30 MINS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO VARIOUS MECHANICS AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME WHAT IT IS. OIL CHANGE AND EVEN RADIATOR WAS CHANGED. A MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION LANES NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. I AM HOPING THAT IS IT BEACUSE I AM TERRIFIED OF DRIVING MY VEHICLE. A VEHICLE I WAS EXCITED TO BUY. IT IS JUST A WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. I SHOULD BE ENJOYING THIS VEHICLE.
BACK UP CAMERA IMAGE IS GARBLED. CANNOT SEE OUT THE BACK
Sometimes when driving a message comes up that says check shifter. I cannot get the message off and have to pull over and restart the car, Sometimes a couple of times before the message goes away. This happens often.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING. MUST STOP AND SHUT DOWN TO RESET.
IN MAY 2019, ALL GAER LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER P R N D L + - ALL TURNED RED AND THE SCREEN HAD A MESSAGE "SERVICE SHIFTER." IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO SEE THE SPEEDOMETER WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. IT IS A HAZARD, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE BELLS RING, YOUR SPEEDOMETER SCREEN DIASAPPEARS AND SERVICE SHIFTER APPEARS. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF A JEEP DEALER AND WAS TOLD, YOU CAN STILL DRIVE WHEN THAT OCCURS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. IT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BY SOMEONE WITH AUTHORITY SOON. WHEN LOOKING ONLINE I DISCOVERED LOTS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
THE BACK AXEL OR SOME GEAR THA MAKES A LOUD SOUND OF MISS GEAR WHEN TURNING.
SEVERAL TIMES UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE UP IN THE 3 MONTHS SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT, THE DISPLAY IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER READS "SERVICE SHIFTER" AND ALL LIGHTS FOR THE GEAR SELECTOR LIGHT UP RED. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GO INTO GEAR UNTIL THE ENGINE IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED.
I'VE HAD MY JEEP SINCE OCTOBER OF 2016, IT HAD 11,000 MILES ON IT WHEN I BOUGHT, AND RANDOMLY SINCE THEN, THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING COMES ON. IT COMPLETELY LOCKS UP MY DISPLAY, SO I CAN'T EVEN SEE MY SPEEDOMETER. IF I PULL OVER AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON,IT WILL RESET, SOMETIMES COMING ON AGAIN IN MINUTES, SOMETIMES MONTHS.. I'VE HAD IT IN TO SERVICE 3 TIMES. NEVER FIXES IT.. SOME DEALERS HAVE NEVER EVEN HEARD OF IT.. SOME SAY IT JUST NEEDS AN UPDATE. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO TAKE MY JEEP IN FOR AN "UPDATE" EVERY OTHER MONTH.. EVERY OTHER CAR ON THE ROAD IS FINE WITHOUT AN UPDATE. NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO GIVE ME A GOOD EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT THIS REALLY MEANS, IS IT DANGEROUS? NO ONE CAN TELL ME ANYTHING. THIS HAS HAPPENED, DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, DRIVING THROUGH TOWN, IT'S EVEN HAPPENED WHEN IT'S BEEN PARKED AND I FIRST START IT UP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT 20 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED AND "SHIFT TO KEY FOR PARK TO SELECT THE DESIRED GEAR" APPEARED ON THE INSTUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT HAD TO MAKE THREE ATTEMPTS TO START THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT CALLED SANSONE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE (LOCATED AT 100 US HIGHWAY, US-1, AVENEL, NJ 07001, (866) 809-9999) AND A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,280. *DT
WHEN TOWING VEHICLE 4 WHEELS DOWN BEHIND MY MOTORHOME AT TIMES VEHICLE HAS A SEVER WOBBLE. IT IS BOTH WHEN TAKING A CORNER OR STRAIGHT. CAN NOT STOP WOBBLE UNLESS I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. VERY SCARY.
TURNING AT A STOP LIGHT ON A BUSY ROAD, AN ALERT CAME UP ONTO MY DASH THAT READ TO SHIFT, CAR MUST BE IN PARK, HOWEVER NOTHING TOUCHED MY SHIFTER. MY CAR THEN SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY, NO TIME TO PULL OVER OR GET OFF THE ROAD. THE POWER WAS STILL ON BUT THE ENGINE HAD SHUT OFF. I BRAKED TO RE START AND IT SPUTTERED, BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND SO DID ENGINE LIGHT. TRIED STARTING AGAIN AND AFTER A FEW SPUTTERS, CAR CAME ON AND I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF OF BUSY ROAD. CAR HAS DONE THIS 3 TIMES TOTAL NOW, EVERY TIME THE SAME. NOTHING SEEMS WRONG WHILE DRIVING, NO ERROR ALERTS OR ANYTHING.
My 2016 jeep Cherokee Limited which has the 2.4 L Tiger Shark engine is failing miserably. There is a extremely obvious ring around the entirety of the engine block. The manifold gasket has failed. The head gasket has never been removed by myself or by a jeep dealership who had my authority to do so. The indicator lights on my vehicle still have not illuminated other than alerting in me I had a faulty water pump which had to be replaced at 75k miles. The OEM thermostat is plastic. Not metal as it should be considering the elevated temp produced by 2.4 L Tiger Shark engine. That engine has destroyed the gasket. The damage started at the right hand side”opposite of oil opening” about the middle of the gasket head. My vehicle was serviced by jeep multiple times at Napleton’s JDR in West Palm Beach and the Jeep dealership in Greenwood Indiana. No one brought to my attention that I should have them investigate that. Instead alerted me to my windshield wipers needing to be replaced, Mind you a had done that the month prior from the same dealership. I question now why the engine was so very deeply cleaned when I purchased it and they even cleaned it twice in the days between me seeing and picking up the vehicle. They are aware of this. They were doing the oil changes. I asked how the oil was they always just said a bit low and never mentioned it unless asked. My next statement will be the now knocking pinging pistons. Mind you this Tiger Shark engine lifters/pistions are put in motion by OIL PRESSURE. Strangely the same problem Tiger Shark 2.4L is known for. No wonder so many people complain of there cars becoming immobilized when oil is beyond low. This is a very expensive fix. They knew it. Jeep would bankrupt if they had to either fix every single 2,4 L Tiger Shark engine and likely the multi air flow ones also. When I’m truth they should be totally replaced a blow head gasket and full engine tear down to replace lifters, head gasket+seal piston rings, spark plugs…
TAMARA RECALL...EVER SINCE I BOUGHT MY JEEP BRANNEW THE RADIO SOMETIMES DOES NOT WORK, SERVICE SHIFTER IS COMING UP, ALSO OTHER THINGS ARE COMING UP SAYING AUTOMATIC SHUT DOWN SERVICE..WHEELS ARE NOT STRAIGHT, AMONG OTHER THINGS. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ON A JEEP THAT'S 3 YEARS OLD. NOW THE DEALERSHIP WANTS 99.00 TO CHECK IT OUT PLUS WHATEVER THE PROBLEM IS. I'M VERY DISGUSTED BECAUSE I LOVE THIS CAR, TOOK MY ANXIETY AWAY, BUT NOW I'M NERVOUS TO DRIVE IT PERIOD. I HATE TO TRADE IT OFF FOR A TOYOTA OR HONDA. PLEASE HELP ME ON THIS. THIS HAPPENED EITHER THE END OF MARCH OR BEGINNING OF APRIL 2019 DURING SLUSHY WET ROAD CONDITIONS. I HAVE NOT SEEN IT SINCE THOSE TWO DAYS. DATE ENTERED BELOW IS AN ESTIMATE. I WASN'T AWARE THIS SITE EXISTED UNTIL A FRIEND TAGGED ME IN A FACEBOOK POST DEPICTING AN ACCIDENT CAUSED FROM THE SAME ISSUE IN A 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE.
THE TWO FRONT AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. WE WAS HIT INTO A CEMENT DIVIDER ON FREEWAY WHILE GOING 65TO 70 MPH. FLIPPED ROLLED 5TO6 TIMES ON ALL SIDES OF CAR LANDED ON THE TOP AND THE FRONT AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CAUSING INJURY TO DRIVER AND PASSENGER

I PANICKED BECAUSE I WAS OUT OF STATE IN AUGUSTA, GA BUT LIVES IN MADISON, AL. I WAS STRESSED AND PULLED OVER TO GOOGLE THIS TO SEE IF THERE WERE INSTRUCTIONS TO FOLLOW. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP IN MARIETTA, GA ' ED VOYLES' THEY NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A COMPLAINT. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE TO BE DONE BEFORE THIS BECOMES A RECALL
TRANSMISSION SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE. TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN AND IT WENT AWAY. HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. HAD THE SHIFTER AND WIRING HARNESS REPLACED ONCE BEFORE. THIS WOULD BE THE SECOND TIME THE SHIFTER AND HARNESS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. FIRST TIME HAPPENED AT 17,330 MILES. SECOND TIME AT 21,000 MILES.
TRANS SERVICE SHIFT LIGHT. I HAVE A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAIL HAWK. TODAY (5/12/2021) IS THE THIRD TIME I'VE BROUGHT MY JEEP IN FOR THIS PROBLEM. FIRST WAS ON 04/17/2019 @ 17,330 MILES. SECOND WAS ON 02/04/2020 @ 21,917 MILES. THE THIRD WAS TODAY 05/12/2021 @29,046 MILES. EVERY TIME THEY HAVE TO CHANGE THE BEZEL AND THE HARNESS FOR THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER. I KNOW THIS IS AN ISSUE FROM RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM WITH OTHER JEEP CHEROKEE OWNERS. JEEP NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM OR PAY ME EVERY TIME I HAVE TO TAKE OFF OF WORK TO BRING MY VEHICLE INTO THE SHOP.
TAKATA RECALL: THE TRANSMISSION WAS ACTING UP LAST MONTH BROUGHT ON BY A COMPUTER FLAW THAT WAS DISCOVER BY CHRYSLER. THE CAR WOULD STALL AFTER COMING TO A HALT/SLOW DOWN. BASED ON THE MEMBERS OF AAMCO, CHRYSLER RELEASED A BULLETIN '21-032-18' THAT INDICATES A COMPUTER UPDATE THAT REVEALED THAT THE 'TCM POWER CIRCUIT CONTROL. HIGH.' THIS WAS NOT A DRIVER/OWNER ISSUE, THIS WAS A CHRYSLER/JEEP ISSUE. AFTER I RETURNED FROM MY TDY AND HAVING PAID $185 FOR A COMPUTER UPDATE, I WAS LOOKING REIMBURSEMENT AND WAS TOLD THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. IT'S DISGUSTING HOW A LOYAL CUSTOMER CAN BE TREATED SO POORLY WITHOUT HAVING AN ISSUE RESOLVED FOR SOMETHING THAT THE COMPANY CAUSED.
JEEP CHEROKEE BEGINS TO EXPERIENCE INTERMITTENT HESITATION WHILE IDLE AND UNRESPONSIVE MANEUVERABILITY DURING ACCELERATION. IGNITION COILS FAIL ON 2.4L ENGINE WITH CONSISTENCY - #4, #2, #3 (3 OF 4 IGNITION COILS) CAUSING MISFIRE IN ENGINE CHAMBER. LACK OF CONTROL DURING ACCELERATION / DECELERATION CREATE HIGH CONCERN FOR SAFETY WHILE AT HIGH SPEEDS AND GENERALLY WHILE DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AFTER JUST A COUPLE MINUTES IN MY SUBDIVISION THE VEHICLE STALLED & WOULD MOVE. I MADE 2 TURNS, ONE RIGHT & ONE LEFT THEN IT STALLED. THE "CHARGING SYSTEM LIGHT" WENT ON & SAID "SHIFT TO P THEN DESIRED GEAR". AFTER A FEW MINUTES IT RESTARTED. THE JEEP MANUAL INDICATED NOT TO DRIVE IT WITH THIS CODE SO I HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER & THEY DID A PCM FLASH UPDATE. THEY TESTED THE OIL LEVEL & SAID IT WAS FINE. NEXT MORNING THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. AGAIN TOWED IT TO DEALER. THEY KEPT IT OVERNIGHT & CHANGED THE BATTERY. THEY DROVE THE VEHICLE, BUT COULDN'T GET IT TO REPLICATE WHAT HAPPENED & INDICATED THERE WERE NO STORED CODES. THE FOLLOWING MORNING THE VEHICLE STARTED, I BEGAN DRIVING AROUND THE CORNER IN THE SUBDIVISION AFTER TURNING RIGHT AND AGAIN THE VEHICLE JUST STALLED WITH SAME INDICATOR LIGHT & MESSAGE AS THE FIRST TIME. BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER & THEY SAID THE OIL WAS LOW, THOUGH THE VEHICLE INDICATED 47% OIL LIFE WITH ABOUT 3,800 MILES SINCE LAST OIL CHANGE, WHICH WAS LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AGO. DEALER TOLD ME TO DRIVE IT FOR 1,000 MILES & THEN BRING IT BACK SO THEY CAN DO AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE WHEN IT STALLS, AS THE VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE, IT JUST SHUTS OFF & DIDN'T COAST SO I COULD MOVE OVER. THIS IS A SAFETY RISK & DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT, IF THIS HAD HAPPENED IN TRAFFIC OR ON THE HIGHWAY IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY CHRYSLER & THAT THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN TO PROTECT THE ENGINE. THERE WAS NO PREVIOUS WARNING LIGHTS OR CHECK ENGINE NOTIFICATION PRIOR TO IT HAPPENING.
PURCHASED A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE 2016 LATITUDE. HAD 70,000 MILES ON IT. TWO WEEKS INTO OWNING IT ON HARD TURNS THE BATTERY LIGHT AND DASH WOULD LIGHT UP. ON TWO OCCASIONS THE CAR WOULD BE MAKING A TURN (IN DRIVE) AND WOULD FAIL ACCELERATE OR CONTINUE IN THAT GESR CAUSES IT TO STALL INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN LOOSE STEERING CONTROL. THE CAR WOULD THEN SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC IT WAS TURNED OFF. ONCE THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF THE CAR WOULD NOT START UNTIL 3 OR 4 TIMES. IMAGINE THIS HAPPENING ON THE ENTRANCE TO THE HIGH WAY. THE CAR WOULD DRIVE FOR A COUPLE MILES AND THEN STALL OUT AGAIN. NOT A SAFE CAR AND DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE MOVING FORWARD WITH THIS VEHICLE ESPECIALLY ST HIGH SPEEDS.
JEEP CHEROKEE 2016 "SERVICE SHIFTER" LIGHT COMES ON. I'VE SEEN A LOT OF PEOPLE ALREADY POST ABOUT THEIR CHEROKEES SAYING THE SAME THING AS WELL. CALLED A MECHANIC SHOP THEY NEVER HEARD OF IT AND RECOMMENDED ME CALLING THE DEALER. SO I RECENTLY TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT SERVICED. WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS. IT COMES ON WHEN I START THE CAR OR SOMETIMES IT COMES ON WHILE IN MOTION.
ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE TURNING SHARP TURN. HESITATES TO RESTART
MY VEHICLE JEEP WAS IN MOTION ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN MY SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AND I ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT WHEN MY JEEP SLOWED WAY DOWN. WHEN I ACCELERATED IT WOULD HARDLY MOVE. MIND YOU I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE!! VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD WITH MY JEEP WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY IT JUMPS BUCKS AND REVS UP ON ITS OWN WHEN IT WAS DOING THAT I HAD TO TAKE IT TO BE HOOKED UP TO TESTER TO SEE WHY MY BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON? HAD TO REPLACE COIL PACK #4 AND I DID IT AGAIN 6 MONTHS DOWN THE ROAD AND HAD TO REPLACE COIL PACK #2. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. MY JEEP ONLY HAS 59064 MILES. I AM VERY SCARED TERRIFIED AND NERVOUS DRIVING ME JEEP.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON DASH AND ALL LIGHTS ON SHIFTER STAY LIT UP RED. ONCE I TURN OFF VEHICLE AND TURN BACK ON IT TURNS OFF BUT COMES BACK ON AFTER A WHILE OF DRIVING. I HAVE NOT ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE LIKE THIS ONCE THE LIGHTS COME ON.
ENGINE SHUTS OFF ON SHARP TURNS. DISPLAY CENTER SAYS MESSAGE SAYING VECHICLE MUST BE STOPPED TO CHANGE GEARS AND SHUTS OFF ENGINE. THE SHIFTER WAS NOT TOUCHED WHEN MESSAGE CAME UP. THEN ENGINE DOESN'T WANT TO START QUICKLY. IT HESITATES. STUTTERS TO RESTART.
THIS ISSUES HAS HAPPENED TWICE ONCE I WAS AT AN INTERSECTION AND THE SECOND TIME I WAS ON THE FREEWAY. I AM DRIVING WITH NO ISSUES AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR LOSES SPEED. I WILL GO FROM 70-0MPH WITH IN SECONDS, ALL THE LIGHTS WILL COME ON ON MY DASH BOARD AND I AM UNABLE TO SPEED UP OR EVEN STEER OUT OF THE WAY. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED TO ME I WAS IN THE FAST LANE ON THE FREEWAY WITH MY DAUGHTER,NO CARS BEHIND ME BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT WITH OUT A QUESTION. IT SOUNDED AS IF THE CAR SHUT DOWN WITH OUT ACTUALLY TURNING OFF. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY HAD NO EXPLANATION FOR ME BOTH TIMES THIS HAPPENED. AS SOON AS THEY WOULD CONNECT IT TO DIAGNOSE THEY SAID THE CODES WOULD CLEAR AND THE CAR WAS WORKING. BOTH TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED AND NOW I AM SCARED EVERY TIME I DRIVE. NOW THE STEREO WILL NOT TURN ON. THE SCREEN IS ON BUT WILL NOT MOVE FROM THE JEEP SIGH IT WILL FLICKER ON AND OFF BUT NOT EVER MOVE FROM THERE.
WHEN CAR IS PUT INTO NEUTRAL, THE SPORT SHIFTER MODE IS ACTIVATED AND OCCASIONALLY WHEN PUT INTO REVERSE, SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE APPEARS ON DASH AND ALL PRND LIGHTS APPEAR LIT. DOESN'T APPEAR TO AFFECT DRIVING BUT IS WORRISOME. CURRENT MILEAGE IS 47,000
VEHICLE IS LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD. MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN DONE ON TIME. USES OIL, THERMOSTAT HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED AND SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. SPENT THREE HOURS AT THE DEALERSHIP TO SUPPOSEDLY FIX THE SHIFTER ISSUE. ONE HOUR LATER THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME BACK ON!
THE WIRING HARNESS NEEDS REPLACED FIR SHIFTER , SEE ATTACHED PIC . FAULTY WIRING IS CAUSING SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT TO COME ON.
THE POWER LIFT GATE HAS FAILED TO LIFT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. ONCE, THE LIFT GATE ACTUALLY FELL UNEXPECTEDLY, HITTING ME IN THE HEAD! IT SEEMS TO STRUGGLE TO LIFT ON MOST ATTEMPTS.
FOR THE PAST YEAR MY TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SHIFTING HARD AND I'VE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT IT'S NORMAL. I'VE HAD SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGES POP UP AND ALL THE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE RED ON THE SHIFTER. I ALSO HAVE A SERVICE 4WD SYSTEM MESSAGE AND THE 4WD IS IN OPERABLE. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 58000 MILES ON IT. THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN GOING ON FOR THE PAST YEAR WITH NO RESOLUTION. I FEEL THAT I HAVE BEEN SOLD A LEMON.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, I WAS STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT. PRESSED ON GAS WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON, SERVICE TRANSMISSION MESSAGE APPEARED ON IN-DASH DRIVER COMMUNICATION CENTER. VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO INTO SECOND GEAR. MESSAGES WOULD NOT CLEAR FROM INSTRUMENT PANEL. I WAS ABLE TO PULL VEHICLE INTO A PARKING LOT. TURNED CAR OFF. AFTER LETTING IT SET FOR 5 MIN, TURNED CAR BACK ON MESSAGES STILL THERE. I WANTED TO SEE IF THE VEHICLE WOULD CHANGE GEARS, SO I DROVE IT A LITTLE DISTANCE AND IT DID CHANGE GEARS. I DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. WAS INFORMED TODAY, THAT THEY WERE ABLE TO VERIFY THE TRANSMISSION ERROR CODES. CURRENT FIX IS A NEW TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY. VEHICLE HAD EXACTLY 48K MILES ON IT WHEN DROPPED OFF AT DEALERSHIP. I HAD PREVIOUSLY COMPLAINED TO DEALER ABOUT HARD - JERKING SHIFTS AND THEY JUST REASSURED ME IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE 9-SPEED TRANSMISSION OPTIMIZING ITS SHIFTING.
MY JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED 2016'S ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF MID DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME THREE TIMES WHILE ON THE ROAD FOR THE PAST 4 MONTHS OR SO. I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AND THAT OF MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS OR WHOMEVER MAY BE WITH ME IN MY VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THE ISSUE BEGINS WITH THE DASH STARTING TO FLICKER, THE AC AND RADIO WILL SHUT OFF, ANY ACTIVELY ENABLED FUNCTIONS WILL SHUT OFF/DISABLE (LANE SENSE, CRUISE CONTROL, AUTO START/STOP), TWO TIMES OUT OF THE THREE, THE VEHICLE ENGINE SHUTS OFF SECONDS AFTER, CAUSING THE GREATEST RISK TO SAFETY SINCE THE VEHICLE IS ESSENTIALLY CRUISING WITH NO POWER WHATSOEVER AT AN AVERAGE OF 70MPH (MOSTLY DRIVE ON FREEWAYS/HIGHWAYS), FORCING ME TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD/SHOULDER IN ORDER TO BREAK TO A FULL STOP, PLACE THE VEHICLE ON PARK AND THEN RESTART THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO GET BACK ON THE ROAD. I BELIEVE JEEP HAD ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN (SAFETY RECALL U63). I HAVE TAKEN MY JEEP TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED. I RECEIVED THE ASSESSMENT FROM THE DEALERSHIP SAYING THAT THE RECALL ISSUE WAS FIXED. A WEEK AFTER I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON BUT TURNED OFF AFTER SO BY THE TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN, THEY "COULDN'T HELP ME" SINCE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT ON AT THE TIME. I ALSO DID NOT HAVE A WAY TO PROVE THAT THIS ISSUE WAS HAPPENING STILL TO MY VEHICLE SO I LEFT DISAPPOINTED AND SURE IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN AT SOME POINT. AS OF TODAY 28 MARCH 2019 THE ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN YESTERDAY ON THE WAY TO WORK AROUND 0836AM, LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO RECORD A VIDEO OF IT AS IT WAS HAPPENING THAT I WOULD BE HAPPY TO SHARE, THE VEHICLE DID NOT SHUT OFF DURING THE VIDEO. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW, IN 2016, FROM A DEALERSHIP IN WA STATE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE AXLE SHAFT ASSEMBLY FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS NOT INFORMED OF ANY FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS PURCHASED IN MARCH OF 2019. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE WIPER ARMS MALFUNCTIONED. THE FAILURES BEGAN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,934.
RANDOMLY..... WHILE DRIVING, A WARNING POPS UP ON THE DASHBOARD SAYING "SERVICE SHIFTER" AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE GEAR SHIFT PANEL TURN RED. THE LIGHTS STAY RED & THE WARNING STAYS ON THE DASH & I AM UNABLE TO SEE MY SPEED LIMIT OR ANY OTHER VEHICLE DETAILS. THIS STAYS ON UNTIL I PARK & TURN MY VEHICLE OFF. THIS HAPPENS DAILY AT RANDOM MOMENTS, WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS PARKED OR MOVING, NO MATTER THE SPEED BEING TRAVELED, & NO MATTER THE LOCATION. IT IS ALWAYS RANDOM.
HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES IN ONE YEAR FOR REPLACEMENT OF SPARK PLUGS AND IGNITION COIL. CAR RUNS ROUGH AND SHAKES. 53000 MILES, HAVE HAD IT SINCE IT WAS BRAND NEW. FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING IN IT.
WHILE IN MOTION THE SHIFTER INDICATOR LIGHTS ALL LIGHT UP AND "SERVICE SHIFTER" APPEARS ON THE CONSOLE OVERRIDING THE DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER, THE ONLY WAY TO RESET THIS IS TO STOP THE CAR, TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART. THIS HAPPENS NEARLY EVERY TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN AND UNPREDICTABLE HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE TO HAPPEN. (RESETTING IS ONLY TEMPORARY AS WELL)
WHILE MAKING A TURN, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER IN THE BRAKES, ACCELERATOR AND STEERING WHEEL. EVERYTHING LOCKED UP WHILE I WAS GOING UPWARDS OF 25MPH. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, BUT COMPLETELY LOST THE ABILITY TO CONTROL MY VEHICLE. THE CAR WOULD NOT FUNCTION UNTIL I TURNED IT OFF AND TRIED TO RESTART IT A FEW TIMES TAKING A COUPLE OF MINUTES. THIS HAPPENED ONCE ON THE 14TH OF MARCH AND ONCE ON THE 15TH OF MARCH. I WAS TOLD BY THE JEEP DEALERSHIP THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HAVE TOLD PEOPLE TO MAKE SURE TO CHECK THEIR OIL. I WAS TOLD THE DIPSTICK DOES NOT REACH THE BOTTOM OF THE OIL PAN AND ONLY GOES DOWN ABOUT HALFWAY (3 OF THE 6 TOTAL QUARTS THE PAN HOLDS). WHEN THE DIPSTICK DOES NOT "FEEL" OIL THE ENTIRE CAR ESSENTIALLY SHUTS DOWN AND LOCKS UP IN ORDER TO "PROTECT THE ENGINE" CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE ALL ABILITY TO CONTROL IT. THEY MIGHT BE PROTECTING THE ENGINE FROM BURNING OIL, BUT TO LOSE FUNCTIONALITY PUTS MY LIFE IN DANGER. JEEP/CHRYSLER HAVE HAD THIS REPORTED BEFORE AS I FOUND NUMEROUS CASES OF THE SAME STORY. HOWEVER, THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I COULD HAVE BEEN IN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF I WAS GOING FASTER THAN 27MPH OR IF I WAS NOT IN AN AREA THAT I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS NOT TOLD ANY OF THIS INFORMATION WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR

THIS IS SO THE ENGINE DOES NOT BURN THE OIL. THIS MEANS THAT THE CAR STALLS OUT AND LOOSES POWER AND CONTROL WITH NO NOTIFCATION.
