THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. SOME, NOT ALL OF THE 2016 CHEROKEES NEED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. WITHOUT THE UPDATE MY CAR WILL GO INTO "LIMB MODE". YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN, YOU COULD BE MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY, MAKING A TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC, JUST WHENEVER. WHEN IN "LIMP MODE YOU LOSE ACCELERATION OR YOUR CAR STAYS IN 4TH GEAR. THIS VERY DANGEROUS. I THINK ALL CHEROKEE OWNERS SHOULD BE MADE AWARE OF THIS POTENIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION
BRAKE BOOSTER WENT OUT AT 41111 MILES WHILE DRIVING AND BRAKING WAS COMPROMISED. FOOT WAS ON BRAKE, THEN CAR STARTED MOVING FORWARD AFTER POPPING SOUND HEARD. HAD TO SLAM DOWN ON BREAK TO GET CAR TO STOP MOVING AT < 2 MILES PER HOUR
I PURCHASED MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE IN MARCH OF 2016, AND TOOK DELIVERY IN JUNE OF 2016. AFTER HAVING MUNTI0LE MAINTENANCE ISSUES WITH IT, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT MY JEEP HAD 2 DIFFERENT TIRE SIZES ON IT. TWO TIRES HAD A CIRCUMFERENCE OF 60R AND THE OTHER TWO HAD A CIRCUMFERENCE OF 65R. FIAT-CHRYSLWR HAS REFUSED TO MAKE AMENDS TO THIS POINT. I DID NO FIND OUT UNTIL AFTER DRIVING 11,000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO REVERSE. WHEN SHIFTED INTO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT OPERABLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 40 MINUTES AND THE SHIFTER MALFUNCTION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. SAFFORD OF FREDERICKSBURG (5202 JEFFERSON DAVIS HIGHWAY, FREDERICKSBURG, VA) COULD NOT REPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,100.
WHILE USING CRUISE CONTROL, TRAVELING DOWN A MODERATELY STEEP HILL, THE SPEED WOULD NOT REMAIN CONSTANT AND THE ENGINE WOULD ACTUALLY ENGAGE TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE RATHER THAN GOVERN THE SPEED AT THE MPH SETPOINT, WITHOUT HAVING MY FOOT ON THE THROTTLE. THE TACHOMETER WOULD SHOW THE ENGINE REV INCREASE AND YOU COULD HEAR THE ENGINE AS WELL WHEN THIS HAPPENED. OBVIOUSLY A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE CAR AND CRUISE CONTROL WERE OPERATING AS DESIGNED!
ON 6 SEPARATE OCCASIONS I'VE HAD AN ANNUNCIATION ON THE DRIVER INSTRUMENT DISPLAY OF 'SERVICE SHIFTER' WITH ASSOCIATED RED ILLUMINATION OF ALL SHIFT POSITIONS OF P,R,N,D ACCOMPANIED BY A SINGLE CHIME. THE DRIVER INSTRUMENT DISPLAY REMAINS FROZEN ON 'SERVICE SHIFTER' AND ANY ATTEMPT TO CHANGE PAGES TO CHECK FOR STORED MESSAGES IS NOT ACKNOWLEGED UNTIL THE CAR IS SHUTDOWN, THEN RESTARTED. NO FAULTS APPEAR WHEN STORED MESSAGES ARE REVIEWED. ONCE RESTARTED THE MESSAGE 'SERVICE SHIFTER' IS CLEARED. THERE APPEARS TO BE NO COMMONALITY BETWEEN EACH REOCCURING EPISODE. ONCE IT CAME ON AFTER START, THE REST WHILE I WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 30MPH AND 50MPH AFTER SOMETIME IN A STRAIGHT LINE ON URBAN STREETS AND SECONDARY HIGHWAYS. MILEAGE IT FIRST CAME ON WAS 16014 THEN 18875, 20949, 21225, 21422 AND FINALLY 24216(JUST AS I WAS PULLING INTO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE). JEEP SERVICE PROVIDED LITTLE INFORMATION ON THE PROBLEM AND RELEASED THE CAR TO ME. MY ONLINE RESEARCH SHOWED SEVERAL JEEPS, DIFFERENT MODELS, ON THE JEEP FORUM WITH THE SAME MALADY AS FAR BACK AS 2014. AS OF THIS DATE MY JEEPS' SOFTWARE IS UP-TO-DATE WITH NO RECALLS.
ANOTHER CAR RAN AN INTERSECTION MY DAUGHTER STRUCK CAR IN THE SIDE THEN SHE HIT A TELEPHONE POLE GOING APPROXIMATELY 40MPH AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND OVER 75% OF HER FRONT END RECEIVED DAMAGE
FRONT BRAKE ROTORS REQUIRED REPLACEMENT WHEN CAR ODOMETER READING WAS 16700 MILES. DEALER SAID "ROTORS WARPED" AND WAS A COMMON PROBLEM OCCURRING IN VEHICLES WITH LESS THAN 20000 MILES. DEALER SAID CAUSED BY CAR NOT BEING DRIVEN FOR 2 MONTH PERIOD. NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY AFTER 12000 MILES OR 12 MONTHS. COMPLAINT IS THE BRAKES ON A NEW CAR SHOULD NOT FAIL AFTER ONLY 16,700 MILES OF NORMAL DRIVING. COST TO REPAIR WAS $482.00
THE HEADLIGHTS ARE EXTREMELY IN ADEQUATE FOR NIGHT DRIVING. TURNING CORNERS ARE BLIND SPOTS AND CONCERN WITH HITTING SOMETHING UNSEEN. GIVES THE IMPRESSION OF OVER DRIVING YOR LIGHTS GIVING CONCERN WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP IN TIME IF SOMETHING SHUD APPEAR IN HEADLIGHTS. SEEMS TO BE A "LINE" OF ILLUMINATION THAT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE ABOVE. THIS IS ALL THE TIME
MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE STARTED HAVING ISSUES. ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION MESSAGE POPPED UP ON MY DISPLAY AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND HAD ABSOLUTELY NO ACCELERATION CAPABILITY. MANAGED TO STAY WITH TRAFFIC AND PROCEED TO THE OFF RAMP TO A GAS STATION. I FOLLOWED WHAT IT'S SAID ON OWNER MANUAL: TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN ON THE CAR WHILE ON NATURAL FOR FEW MINUTES AND THE MESSAGE WENT AWAY BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS THERE FOR A WHILE AND GOT TURNED OFF IT SELF. BUT THE NEXT DAY SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR TO JEEP DEALERSHIP, THEY DID NOT HAVE A TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST TO CHECK THE CAR. I HAD TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, THE APPOINTMENT IS FOR TOMORROW. INTERESTING IS THE MANUAL SAYS AFTER RESETTING SHOULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE IT MIGHT CAUSE ENGINE PROBLEMS, AND SHOULD HAVE DEALER TO CHECK BUT THE DEALERS DON'T CHECK THE CAR RIGHT-AWAY THEY GIVE YOU APPOINTMENT FOR FEW DAYS LATER OR A WEEK LATER. I HAD THIS CAR FOR YEAR AND HALF I DRIVE 3 MILES FROM HOME TO WORK I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE CAR SHOULD HAVE A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AT THIS EARLY STAGES. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR. NOT HAPPY AT ALL!
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 75 MILES PER HOUR WHEN SHE VEHICLE STOPPED WORKING . THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING BUT I COULDNT PRESS THE GAS BRAKES NOR DID THE STEERING WORK. A WEEK BEFORE THAT MY CAR WOULDNT CRANK. I HAVE BEEN TELLING THE SHOP 2 TIMES PRIOR SOMETHING WASNT RIGHT WITH THE TRANSMISSION. ALSO HAS HAD 2 RECALLS REPAIRED. *TT *DT *JS *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE ENTERED INTO SAFE MODE AND DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO VICTORY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (LOCATED AT 45 NABER DR, SHALLOTTE, NC 28470, (877) 463-1766) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TCM MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14E004000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,200.
SEAMS UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WERE NOT PROPERLY SEALED AT THE FACTORY, WHICH RESULTED IN HALF INCH TO AN INCH OF STANDING WATER ON THE FRONT AND BACK FLOOR BOARDS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CAR NOW SMELLS LIKE A MUSTY MOLDY BASEMENT. AS OF TODAY'S DATE 8/25/17 THE DEALERSHIP HAS ATTEMPTED TO FIX OUR CAR TWICE, BUT WE ANTICIPATE NEEDING TO GO BACK FOR A THIRD TIME.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVEN OTHER TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (MARK THOMAS MOTORS JEEP/TOYOTA IN ALBANY, OREGON) A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES. THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. PUT JEEP IN PARK WENT IN BUILDING TO GRAB SOMETHING. CAME OUT JEEP ROLLED FORWARD INTO LOADING DOCK AT HUSBANDS JOB.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM AND HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE PROPERLY WITH LOW VISIBILITY. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED (PERCY'S AUTO SALES INC, 40 HOULTON RD, PRESQUE ISLE, ME 04769, (207) 764-4493), BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
1) CAR STALLS AT RANDOM WITHOUT WARNING AND NO APPARENT CAUSE. I'VE HAD THE CAR STALL AT LOW SPEEDS AFTER TURNING (ABLE TO RESTART) BUT MOST SIGNIFICANTLY AN INCIDENT OCCURRING 7/9/2017 WHEN I LOST ALL ACCELERATION ON THE INTERSTATE AT 65MPH WHILE TOWING A 3500LB TRAILER. THE TACHOMETER AND SPEEDODOMETER DROPPED IMMEDIATELY TO ZERO. TOTAL SHUTDOWN. CONCURRENTLY ALL THE ELECTRONICS SHUTDOWN, INCLUDING POWER BRAKES. THANKFULLY I WAS ON A FLAT STRETCH OF ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO DRIFT INTO THE BREAKDOWN LANE. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART; NO ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND EMERGENCY BRAKE WERE FUNCTIONING. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED. 3) CRUISE CONTROL FAILS TO MAINTAIN CAR SPEED ON MODERATE DOWNGRADES...RPM'S WILL SHOOT TO 5000, THEN CAR WILL "TAKE OFF" INCREASING SPEED BY AS MUCH AS 15 MPH MORE THAN CONTROL IS SET FOR. MY COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN VERIFIED/REPLICATED BY A JEEP CHRYSLER SERVICE CENTER BUT THEY HAVE STATED THEY CAN'T FIX THE CAR BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THE ISSUE.
DRIVING 65-75 MPH ON HIGHWAY IN HIGH TRAFFIC, SERVICE TRANSMISSION MESSAGE CAME ON ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO ACCELERATION NO USE OF SPEEDOMETER, CRUSE, COULDN'T CHECK GAUGES. WERE ABLE TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY. LET VEHICLE SIT AND RESTART. ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON CALLED THE JEEP 800 NUMBER I HAD IN THE VEHICLE AND WAS DISCONNECTED TWICE WITH NO RETURN CALL. THIS VEHICLE HAS UNDER 15,000 MILES ON IT. NOW LESS THAN A WEEK LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THIS TIME I TOOK IT TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE TO HAVE THEM CHECK THE CODE. WHICH CAME UP AS: P0887 TCM POWER RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH DEFINITION FOR CODE: INDICATES THAT THE TCM POWER RELAY CONTROL ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT SIGNAL HAD HIGH VOLTAGE FOR PREDETERMINED PERIOD OF TIME.
AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN FRONT END COLLITION. SHIFTER LEVER SHOWS RED INDICATOR LIGHTS WHILE DRIVING IN ALL GEARS NEUTRAL , REVERSE, DRIVE, AND PARK. PULLED OFF ROAD TURNED OFF CAR THEN BACK ON LIGHTS WENT AWAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES UNDER 30,000 MILES. DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND PROBLEM
THE HEADLIGHTS ARE TO DIM TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT. I HAVE READ SEVERAL POST OF TTHE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. DIM HEADLIGHTS NOT ABLE TO SEE ON COMING LANES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, IT STALLED AND AN ABNORMAL CLICKING NOISE WAS HEARD. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE WAS MISFIRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE COULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE FAILURE WAS A MANUFACTURER ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND RECOMMENDED THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
TRUNK DOOR AUTOMATICALLY CLOSED AFTER BEING OPENED TO PLACE ITEM IN TRUNK AND FAILED TO REVERSE ITSELF AFTER CLOSING ON WIFE'S HEAD. CAUSED LACERATION TO FOREHEAD AFTER TRUNK DOOR HIT HER HEAD AND CONTINUED TO CRUSH INTO HER. HAD TO RUSH TO EMERGENCY ROOM DUE TO SIZE OF CUT AND BLEEDING. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED DURING THE INCIDENT.
BEGINNING ABOUT TWO MONTH AGO, I HAVE BEEN GOING BACK TO THE DEALER FOR DRIVE TRAIN RELATED ISSUES. THE INITIAL ISSUE WAS A FAILED REAR HUB AT AROUND 25,000 MILES WHICH WAS FOUND DURING AN OIL CHANGE. NEXT, THE MAIN DRIVE SHAFT (PROPELLER SHAFT) BEGAN MAKING GRINDING NOISES AS WELL AS A WOBBLE/THUMPING SOUND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE GRINDING SOUND WAS RESOLVED BUT THE WOBBLE/THUMPING CONTINUED. THE FOLLOWUP FOR THAT SOUND FOUND FAILED HALF-SHAFTS (BOTH SIDES), FAILED REAR DIFFERENTIAL, AND FAILED TRANSFER CASE/MODULE. THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME WITHOUT ALL REPAIRS BEING COMPLETED DUE TO LACK OF PARTS AND "WARRANTY NOT AUTHORIZING ADDITIONAL DAYS OF RENTAL" THE CAR THEN BEGAN TO GIVE FAILED PARKING BRAKE SERVICE CODES AND CHECK AIR BAG SYSTEM CODES WHICH SUPPOSEDLY ARE RELATED NOW TO A FAILED ON BOARD CONTROL MODULE. WHEN THE MOST RECENT CODES (TODAY) WERE GIVEN THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR INITIALLY.
CAR GOT STUCK IN GEAR 8 ON HIGHWAY. HAS 10,000 MILES ON IT
FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR MY AIRBAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. THE DEALERSHIP CONTINUES TO TURN ME AWAY
THIS JEEP HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. WHEN WE WERE IN AN ACCIDENT I DIDN'T THINK THAT IT COULD BE DUE TO THE LACK OF ACCELERATION AND POOR TRANSMISSION OPERATION. AS THE LAST 2 YEARS HAVE GONE SINCE THE ACCIDENT, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE ACCIDENT WAS A CLEAR RESULT TO THE POWERTRAIN FAILING. WHEN PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE WILL HESITATE OR COUGH BEFORE IT MOVES. ONCE IT DOES THE RPMS SHOOT TO HIGH. WHEN DRIVING IN TRAFFIC THE CAR SHAKES AS IT STAYS IN GEAR TO LONG, OR DOESN'T SHIFT TO THE PROPER GEAR AT THE PROPER TIME MAKING THE RIDE VERY WHIP LASH LIKE. ASIDE FROM THAT THE VEHICLE BURNS OIL SO FAST I CHANGE THE OIL EVERY 2000 MILES. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 39K MILES AND I CAN NOT WAIT TO GET RID OF THIS CAR. IT IS UNSAFE AND A TRUE EXAMPLE WHY I NEVER LIKED JEEP/CHRYSLER IN THE FIRST PLACE. I'LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER MOPAR BRAND AGAIN. *TR
TRANSMISSION STALLING WHILE STARTING 0-20 MPH. HARD SHIFTS AND SERVICE LIGHT FLASHING. AFTER SEVERAL INSTANCES, VEHICLE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING AS I APPROACHED A STOP SIGN. I STOPPED, SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE IN PARK, SHIFTED TO DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE OPERATED IN REVERSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S SPEED SUDDENLY INCREASED TO APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. THE DRIVER CRASHED INTO A TRAFFIC CONE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT THE REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER SUDDENLY STOPPED OPERATING. ON SOME OCCASIONS, AFTER REMOVING THE IGNITION KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH A MESSAGE INDICATING "KEY INSERTED" WOULD DISPLAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HUNTINGTON JEEP IN HUNTINGTON, NEW YORK, BUT THE FAILURES COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,200.
ON MARCH 3/9/2017 I PURCHASED A 2016, JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED 4X4, 2.4L WITH 20,111. AT THE TIME OF THE PURCHASE, I RECEIVED A 109-POINT VEHICLE INSPECTION REPORT, AND I PERSONALLY CHECKED THE FLUID LEVELS. ON MAY 27, 2017, THE OIL LIGHT FLASHED WHEN TURNING INTO THE HOME DEPOT. I IMMEDIATELY, PARKED AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. AFTER INSPECTION, I CHECKED THE OIL, AND THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF OIL ON THE DIP STICK. THE JEEP'S MILEAGE WAS 24,211 MILES, WHICH IS ONLY 4,100 MILES SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. HAVING LEARNED THAT NO OIL WAS REGISTERING ON THE DIP STICK, I OPENED UP THE HOOD AND LOOKED FOR SIGNS OF AN OIL LEAK? NO OIL LEAK WAS VISIBLE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND NO OIL LEAKAGE WAS FOUND UNDER THE JEEP. I THEN DROVE TO THE NEAREST RETAILER AND PURCHASED 5 QT CONTAINER OF 0W-20, FULL SYNTHETIC MOTOR OIL. AFTER RETURNING TO THE JEEP, I STARTED ADDING OIL, ONE QUART AT A TIME, AND CHECKING THE LEVEL OF THE OIL BETWEEN ADDING INTERVALS. AFTER ADDING ONE QUART, I COULD JUST SEE EVIDENCE OF OIL ON THE DIP STICK. IT TOOK 3.5 QUARTS BEFORE THE DIP STICK REGISTERED FULL. AT THAT POINT I TURNED ON THE VEHICLE. ALL OF THE NORMAL DASH BOARD DIAGNOSTIC LIGHTS FLASHED ON/OFF AND THE CAR EXHIBITED NO SUSTAINED WARNING LIGHTS. NO SUSTAINED ENGINE LIGHT OR OIL LIGHT WERE VISIBLE AND THE JEEP APPEARED TO BE RUNNING NORMALLY. NO BLUE OR BLACK EXHAUST WAS VISIBLE FROM THE JEEP'S TAIL PIPE. AFTER ARRIVING HOME, I PROMPTLY CHANGED THE OIL AND OIL FILTER WITH THE 0W-20, FULL SYNTHETIC CASTROL MOTOR OIL AND A FRAM TOUGH GUARD FILTER. THE DISCARDED OIL WAS BLACK. FROM UNDER THE JEEP, THERE WAS NO SIGN OF AN OIL LEAK AROUND THE OIL FILTER, THE OIL PAN OR ANYWHERE INSIDE OF THE SKID SHIELD UNDER THE JEEP?
AFTER PURCHASE OF MY 2016 JEEP, WHICH HAD 8000 MILES, I BEGAN EXPERIENCING STRONG SHAKING IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION WHEN A BUMP IN THE ROAD WAS STRUCK. I TOOK THE CAR TO JEEP, DARCAR IN WALDORF MARYLAND. THEY COULD FIND NOTHING. THIS SHAKING CONTINUED SO I TOOK IT BACK. AGAIN THEY COULD FIND NOTHING. NOW MY FRONT END IS NOT ONLY JUMPING BUT SQUEALING. THIS IS MY FIRST JEEP AND AS MUCH AS I LIKE THE VEHICLE, I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT A PROBLEM IS OCCURRING ALREADY. THIS OCCURRED AND GOT WORST AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE STREETS OF PENNSYLVANIA AND THE CITY OF WALDORF MARYLAND
WHILE IN CRUISE CONTROL AND GOING DOWNHILL, VEHICLE WILL OFTEN DOWNSHIFT AND QUICKLY ACCELERATE ABOUT 10 MPH. CRUISE CONTROL WILL REGAIN CONROL AND SLOW TO SET SPEED AFTER A FEW SECONDS. THUS FAR I HAVE OBSERVED THIS BEHAVIOR AT SET SPEEDS OF 45 MPH AND AT 68 MPH. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE VEHICLE ENOUGH TO KNOW HOW CONSISTENT THE BEHAVIOR IS OR IF THE BEHAVIOR IS ONLY AT SPECIFIC MPHS.
THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SEVERAL ISSUES AT ONE TIME ON 5/16/2017 (MILEAGE 32779). THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, NEW, 5/2016. THE SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE HAD BEEN COMING ON AND GOING OFF AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHY AND COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNLESS IT WAS ON WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE PROBLEM MAY COME FROM THE BATTERY BEING BAD AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE BAD BATTERY. AFTER A CALL TO JEEP CUSTOMER CARE, JEEP AGREED TO PAY TO HAVE THE BATTERY REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP AT NO COST TO ME. THIS WAS 7/12/2017 AND THE SHIFTER ISSUE WAS NOTED AGAIN ON THIS SERVICE ORDER. 4/2018, A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN WAS PUT OUT ABOUT THIS ISSUE, BUT I WAS NOT AWARE OF IT UNTIL 12/2019. AFTER RESEARCH AND THE DISCOVERY OF THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANY OF THE JEEP CHEROKEES PRODUCED BETWEEN 2015 AND 2018. THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP 3/12/2020 TO GET ANOTHER ISSUE FIXED AND ASKED THEM TO REPAIR THE SERVICE SHIFTER PROBLEM, NOW THAT THEY KNEW HOW TO FIX IT. THEY WOULD ONLY FIX IT IF I PAID FOR IT. I, AGAIN, CALLED JEEP CUSTOMER CARE FOR ASSISTANCE, BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS TIME THAT THE MILEAGE IS TOO HIGH AND IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH I BROUGHT THIS TO THEIR ATTENTION DURING THE BATTERY ORDEAL IN 5/2017. THEY ARE REFUSING TO COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIR, EVEN THOUGH THIS HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THEM DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD (AS WITH THE BATTERY). ORIGINALLY, JEEP TECHS DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS OR HOW TO FIX IT WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THEM IN 2017. BUT JEEP IS NOW AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HOW TO FIX IT BUT WON'T UNLESS I PAY FOR A REPAIR THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO DO, AT THE TIME, BUT ARE ABLE TO DO NOW.
THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION WARNING CAME ON AS I PULLED INTO A GAS STATION, ALONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION ICON. I TURNED THE CAR OFF TO FILL UP. WHEN I RESTARTED IT SEEMED TO ACCELERATE FINE ON THE SURFACE STREET AND THEN HIGHWAY, BUT THE ICON REMAINED LIT. THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION WARNING THEN CAME BACK ON A FEW MILES LATER AND I COULDN'T ACCELERATE. ONCE I DECELERATED, I COULDN'T ACCELERATE AGAIN. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND RESTARTED THE CAR. AGAIN, IT WORKED. WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON IT SEEMS TO WORK FINE UNTIL THE WARNING COMES BACK ON (IT ONLY TAKES A FEW MILES) TAKING IT TO THE DEALER THIS EVENING. MY CAR IS 50 WEEKS, 12,200 MILES.
JEEP RANDOMLY SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP. ENGINE IS GETTING REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 18 MONTHS.
WATER SATURATING FLOOR AND CARPETS UNDER FLOOR MATS, PASSENGER FRONT AND REAR. MAY BE THE CAUSE OF INTERMITANT DOOR LOCKS , AND AT TIME UCONNECT RADIO AND CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM RESTARTS. FIRST VISIT TO DEALER, DEALER RESEALED/REWELDED ROCKER PANELS AND IMPROPERLY SEALED AREAS. SECOND VIST DEALER STATED THE LEAKING WAS A SUN ROOF. HOWEVER, VEHICLE DOESN'T HAVE A SUN ROOF. ? THE DEALER IS UNABLE TO REPLICATE WATER COMING IN FROM RAIN BUT HAS NOT CHECKED AC CONDENSATION OR OTHER MEANS OF ENTRY THAT WE KNOW OF. WATER DOES APPEAR TO SHOW UP FASTER DURING PERIODS OF HOT EATHER AND AC USAGE. PLEASE NOTE - I HAVE PICTURES OF MOLD GROWING RAPIDLY ON THE CARPET UNDER THE FLOOR MATS.
TRUNK RANDOMLY OPENS. ON ONE OCCASION I WAS BACKING INTO THE GARAGE WHEN THE TRUNK OPENED ,CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY JEEP AND GARAGE.

THE AUTOMATIC START FEATURE AND KEY FOB HAD NOT BEEN USED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE, BUT THE RFHM WAS REPROGRAMMED AND THE KEYLESS IGNITION SOFTWARE WAS IMPROVED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,648.
2016 JEEP WITH "ACTIVE DRIVE II" WHILE FLAT TOWING MY VEHICLE BEHIND MY MOTOR HOME ACCORDING TO BOOK PROCEDURES, WE ENCOUNTERED AN INCIDENT WHERE THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE STARTED ROCKING, SHAKING, MOVING RIGHT/LEFT UP AND DOWN. WE WERE ON A MAIN HIGHWAY(CONCRETE IMPROVED). I INITIALLY HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAD HAPPEN. WE HAD BEEN ON THE ROAD FOR A COUPLE HOURS. ONCE OFF ROAD, I COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. TIRES, TOW BAR, SUSPENSION ALL SEEMED AS IT SHOULD BE. WE MOVED THE MOTORHOME WAS VEHICLE (OUR TOW) SLOWLY TO A MORE SAFE AREA. STILL FOUND NOTHING. ONCE HOME +- 150 MILES MORE WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT. I HAVE MADE NOTICE OF THIS TO BOTH JEEP WAVE AND CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE. I HAVE GOTTEN RECEIVED MIXED INFORMATION AS FEED BACK. I'VE GOT GREAT CONCERN IF THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE SAFETY LOCK VALVE ON THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSTALLED DURING PRODUCTION, WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8,200.

DURING AN OUT OF TOWN TRIP (HIGHWAY) DRIVE WITH THE FAMILY ON EASTER SUNDAY, MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY LOCKED INTO 8TH GEAR AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE PAST 2000 RPMS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" APPEARED ON THE CONTROL PANEL. IN ORDER TO NOT BE STRANDED, WE DROVE THE CAR IN 8TH GEAR FOR 3.5 HOURS BACK HOME. CAR WOULD NOT CHANGE GEARS, NOR ACCELERATE. WE LUCKILY WERE NOT INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. UPON ARRIVING AT THE DEALERSHIP (CLOSED FOR HOLIDAY), ANOTHER JEEP OWNER WAS THERE DROPPING OFF HIS CAR AS HIS WAS STUCK IN 3RD GEAR AND COULDN'T ACCELERATE PAST 45 MPH. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT JUST CALLED ME BACK NOW (NEXT DAY) AND SAID THAT TRANSMISSION ERROR IS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE UPGRADED. WHY WOULD THE CAR NEED AN UPGRADE AND MAKE THE TRANSMISSION INOPERABLE WHILE I'M IN MOTION INSIDE THE CAR? INFURIATING!

I HAVE BEEN READING AND THERE'S IS MORE ONLINE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE AND ALL GET THE SAME RESPONSE THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S CAUSING IT AND THEY ONLY DO A SOFTWARE UPDATE IF THAT... WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN BEFORE THEY RECALL OR REPAIR THIS ISSUE, I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ANYMORE BUT I HAVE NO CHOICE I HAVE TO DRIVE TO WORK AND HAVE NO OTHER VEHICLE, I FEEL MY LIFE IS IN DANGER EVERY TIME I'M DRIVING IT, HOW MANY PEOPLE'S LIVES WILL JEEP CONTINUE PUTTING IN DANGER UNTIL THEY RESOLVE THE ISSUE OR RECALL THEIR THIS CAR. A SIMPLE WE DON'T KNOW AND TAKE YOUR CAR BACK DOESN'T MAKE ME FEEL LIKE THEY ARE CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY, THEY ALREADY SOLD THE CAR SO NOW IT'S OUR PROBLEM? RETURNING HOME FROM 1ST OIL CHANGE SINCE PURCHASE OF VEHICLE (2016 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT) 3 MONTHS PRIOR, OWNER NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM HOOD IMMEDIATELY UPON PARKING VEHICLE AT RESIDENCE. AS SOON AS OWNER EXITED VEHICLE, OWNER NOTICED FLAMES COMING FROM BOTTOM OF ENGINE. OWNER CALLED 911. THREE MINUTES LATER WHEN EMERGENCY VEHICLES ARRIVED, CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS BY FIRE INVESTIGATOR AND INSURANCE COMPANY.
VEHICLE STARTED LUNGING FORWARD AND SHIFTING ISSUES WHILE IN MOTION. DEFINITELY A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR A WEEK. TECHNICIAN NOT SURE WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT WAITING ON DODGE TO CALL THEM BACK. HE SAID EITHER REPROGRAM IT OR REPLACE TRANSMISSION.
MY WIFE AND I BOUGHT A JEEP CHEROKEE JUST ABOUT A YEAR AGO. WE HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP THREE TIMES FOR ROLLING AFTER THE CAR IS PUT IN PARK. JUST LAST SATURDAY (25 MARCH) MY WIFE WAS GETTING OUT OF THE CAR AT OUR DAUGHTERS SOFTBALL GAME AND THE CAR ROLLED BACKWARDS KNOCKING HER TO THE GROUND ALMOST ROLLING OVER HER. THE VEHICLE ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING. SHE HAD TO GO TO THE DOCTOR AND RECEIVE TREATMENT.
WATER LEAKING INTO FLOOR BOARDS ON PASSENGER SIDE. CAR WAS PARKED IN GARAGE AFTER DRIVING IN RAIN. A STRONG ODOR OF MILDEW WAS NOTICED THE NEXT DAY. DID AN INSPECTION TO SEE WHERE THE ODOR WAS COMING FROM, THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOORS WERE SOAKED WITH WATER AND IN THE REAR FLOORS ON THE PASSENGER SIDES. USED A SHOP VAC TO VACUUM OUT AS MUCH WATER, VACUUMED OUT AT LEAST A GALLON OF MOLDY WATER.
DRIVING 40MPH JUST ENTERING THE MASSPIKE RAMP IN ALLSTON/BRIGHTON AREA WITH MY SUNROOF OPENED, WHEN A LOAD EXPLOSION OCCURRED. I LOOKED ALL AROUND THE VEHICLE SAW SOME GLASS, LOOKED UP AND SUNROOF COMPLETELY SHATTERED. THERE WAS NO CAR IN FRONT OF ME. NOTHING WAS PROJECTED AT CAR. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN OCT. '16 AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THE ROOF. FIRST IT RATTLED THEY CHANGED THE FRAME, NOW GLASS SHATTERED AND THE DEALER IS CHARGING MY INSURANCE TO FIX.POORLY MADE CAR. ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH REAR SEATS RATTLING. IT WAS A 50 DEGREE DAY IN BOSTON.

I BOUGHT MY JEEP BRAND NEW ZERO MILES, CURRENTLY ITS AT 28K. I BEGAN TO HEAR A FLAPPING NOISE WHEN SHES ON IDLE AND THE AUTO SHUT OFF ISNT ON AND WHEN I START TO DRIVE THE NOISE GOES AWAY. LATER I NOTICED THAT ON START POINT THE ACCELERATOR EITHER GETS STUCK OR IT MAKES THE STARTING JOLT AS IF I GASSED IN THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY. WHEN IM ON THE FREEWAY AND I LET GO OF THE GAS PEDAL THE SPEED WONT DECREASE I'D HAVE TO USE THE BRAKE PEDAL, OBVIOUSLY THE SPEED WONT DECREASE IF IM GOING DOWNHILL, THIS IS WHEN IM ON A FLAT WAYWARD. THESE SYMPTOMS WITH THE EXCLUSION OF THE FLAPPING NOISE ON IDLE, HAPPEN ONLY OCCASIONALLY. MY JEEP IS ONLY ONE YEAR OLD I MAINTAIN IT VERY REGULARLY ROTATE TIRES, FLUIDS, THE WORKS. I TOOK HER TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IM HOPING A GOOD DIAGNOSTIC AND A GOOD FIX, BECAUSE SINCE IT HAPPENS ON OCCASIONS I DON'T WANT TO BRING MY JEEP BACK AND CONTINUE THE SAME ISSUE, IT COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD, SHES OUR ONLY FAMILY CAR AND IF SOMETHING GOES BYPASSED, UNFORTUNATE EVENTS MAY TAKE PLACE, (GOD FORBID,) AND THIS ISSUE CAN BE SPOTTED RIGHT AWAY, I WILL HAVE PEACE OF IN MIND.
