VERY SCARY FOR ME TONIGHT. WAS DRIVING MY BRAND NEW JEEP WHEN IT STARTED SMOKING AND CAUGHT ON FIRE. LESS THEN 3000 MILES. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT IN TIME AND HAVE NO ONE WITH ME. WOULD PROBABLY NEVER BUY A JEEP AGAIN. */BF VIN UNAVAILABLE 11/20/18*JB
MY 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE HAS 20,000 MILES AND HAS STOPPED RUNNING THREE TIMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE MANAGED TO PULL TO THE SIDE BUT THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THIS ISSUE REALLY NEEDS INVESTIGATING. I WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT PLEASE HELP
There was already a recall on the make and model of my car, Jeep Cherokee Latitude; however, when I search by VIN it shows zero unrepaired recalls. So if the problem is fixed (no one even attempted to fix my car), why does my car still shut off in the middle of driving? When it shuts off I can’t turn the wheel, Can’t put it in park, and the gas and brakes/ABS don’t work. This has happened many times with my daughter, currently 4yo, in the car; why do I have to risk my life every single time we need to go somewhere? Every single dealership and mechanic I’ve brought it to says there is nothing wrong with the car, yet it continues to shut off while driving… I did crash the first time it happened, but it was in a snow storm and possibly unrelated? No injuries or damage.
I HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT BEING ON. A FEW MONTHS AGO IT CAME ON AND I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND IT WENT OFF. THEN LATER IT CAME ON AND HAS STAYED ON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW. I TOOK IT TOO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR IT. I HAVE SEEN THIS SAME ISSUE WITH MANY OTHER JEEPS AND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED AND A TOTAL RECALL FOR ALL VEHICLES EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. IT IS DANGEROUS FOR ALL THESE VEHICLES DRIVING OUT THERE WITH THIS PROBLEM. SOMEONE COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR EVEN WORSE. PLEASE TAKE ACTION ON THIS MATTER!
BOUGHT THIS 2017 JEEP NEW WITH 23 MILES ON IT. WITHIN A YEAR THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT STARTED COMING ON. ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER ALUMINATE. THERE IS A CONSTANT WARNING ON THE DASH THAT CAN'T BE CLEARED UNTIL IT IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. RESTART WOULD CLEAR THE LIGHT. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM M IT HAS SINCE GOTTEN WORSE AND HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS PUT IN REVERSE. OF COURSE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY NOW BUT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND HAS MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON MULTIPLE THREADS. THIS CAN EVENTUALLY LEAD TO RANDOM POWER LOSS ISSUES WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN OPERATION. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS A RECALL.
I HAVE HAD SHIFTER SERVICE WARNINGS EVERY TIME I START THE VEHICLE AND IT SHIFTS CRAZY AND STALLS OUT WHILE DRIVING. ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER LIGHT UP AS WELL SO YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT GEAR YOU ARE IN. WHILE THE DASH SAYS SHIFTER SERVICE NONE OF THE OTHER FEATURES WORK LIKE TIRE PRESSURE OR OTHER GAGES AND SETTING.
ON FOUR OCCASIONS THE ENGINE STARTED RACING WHILE I WAS BRAKING. ON THE MOST RECENT OCCASION, I WAS TRYING TO STOP THE CAR FOR A WOMAN IN A CROSSWALK WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED RACING EVEN THOUGH I WAS BRAKING. THIS LASTED SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE RETURNING TO NORMAL IDLING. I WAS IN A MALL PARKING LOT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE THAT CONTROLLED THE AUTOMATIC FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT TOOK SEVEN MINUTES FOR THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE TO READ CORRECTLY TO ACTIVATE THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GOLDSTIEN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (968 NEW LOUDON RD, LATHAM, NY 12110 518-785-4156), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL AT THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500.
BEGINNING IN DEC 17 JUST A FEW WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE IT STARTED SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING. IT STARTED ONLY ON RIGHT TURNS THEN ESCALATED TO PRETTY MUCH ANYTIME. ALMOST A YEAR LATER THEY WERE ABLE TO SUPPOSEDLY REPLICATE PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE ENGINE IN DEC18. JUST A COUPLE WEEKS AFTER ENGINE REPLACED VEHICLE BEGAN DOING THE SAME THING AND I HAVE REPEATEDLY TAKEN IT BACK AND THEY CAN NEVER REPLICATE PROBLEM. THIS CAN HAPPEN IN 2 MILES - 500 MILES OR NOT AGAIN UNTIL 1200 MILES. IT IS UNPREDICTABLE AND I HAVE SOMEHOW AVOIDED SEVERAL BAD ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS. I CANNOT TAKE ANYONE IN MY VEHICLE FOR FEAR OF LIABILITY AND SOMETHING BAD WILL HAPPEN DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I GET NO HELP FROM CORPORATE OR THE DEALER EXCEPT ' SORRY WE CAN'T REPLICATE IT' VEHICLE HAS BEEN TOWED IN ON APRIL 19 AND AS OF TODAY THEY CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM SO I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS ALREADY.
ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHILE STOPPED ON A STEEP INCLINE THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I STEPPED ON THE GAS AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE ENGINE FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS. THIS CAUSED ME TO ROLE BACKWARDS THEN WHEN THE ENGINE ENGAGED, IT LOUNGED FORWARD ALMOST HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE SITUATION FOR A LACK OF HILLS THEREFORE NOTHING WAS DONE. THIS COULD BE A REAL PROBLEM FOR SOMEONE NOT EXPECTING THE SITUATION TO HAPPEN.
MY 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE. MESSAGE CAME UP SAYING "SERVICE SHIFTER" WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND I WAS NOT SHIFTING AT THE TIME, LIGHT STAYED ON ALL THE WAY HOME. TOOK IT TO NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS NEEDING PART 6MD111X9AA OR NEW PART NUMBER 6MD111X9AB. WHICH IS THE SHIFT CONTROL MODULE. TO START WITH THEY TOLD ME THEY ORDERED THE PART AND IT WOULD BE READY IN A FEW DAYS. THEN THEY TOLD ME I WAS NUMBER 70 ON THE LIST WAITING FOR THE PART, IT WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL MARCH 2018. TO COME PICK IT UP IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. JEEP'S 800 NUMBER HAS NOT VERIFIED SAFETY YET. THE INFORMATION I CAN FIND QUESTIONS IT'S SAFETY, IT SENDS ALL CONTROL SIGNALS TO ENGINE TO SHIFT AND PARK.. IT'S BEEN A WEEK ALREADY WITH REFUSAL TO PROVIDE LOANER VEHICLE. JEEP CONSULTANT IS SUPPOSEDLY ESCALATING CASE. I ALSO HAD SOME KIND OF TRANSMISSION RECALL SERVICED THE PRIOR WEEK, BUT WAS TOLD THAT RECALL WAS NOT RELATED TO THIS ISSUE. I HAVE NOT PICKED IT UP FROM DEALERSHIP, I AM WAITING FOR THEM TO PUT SAFETY GUARANTEE IN WRITING.
MY CAR JUST SHUTS OFF FOR NO REASON FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS AND WHEN IT COME BACK ON THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAID THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY DIED. ALSO THE KEY THROB WON'T COME OUT THE IGNITION I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 4 MONTHS I AM THE FIRST OWNER SO I DON'T KNOW HOW THAT'S HAPPENING.

ALSO, THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FUREY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (330-863-1144, LOCATED AT 206 S CARROLLTON ST, MALVERN, OH 44644) WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,717.
MY JEEP STARTED TO SHAKE AND THE ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON.. WHEN THE JEEP IS RUNNING IT STARTED TO SHAKE AND FEELS LIKE ITS GOING TO TURN OFF ... WELL IT HAS TWICE NOW ... THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPEN TWICE NOW FIRST TIME BACK ON 10/27/17.. DEALER CLAIMED IT WAS FIXED NOW AGAIN 11/13/17.. ITE HAS 51000 MILES ... THE SERVICE GUYS JAMES GARDINER IS TELLING ME IT NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANY MORE

AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WAS ALMOST INVOLVED IN A REAR END COLLISION. THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MCLARTHY DANIEL FORD LINCOLN (2609 S WALTON BLVD, BENTONVILLE, AR) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHIFTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 312.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE DOING 70 MPH, THE WORDS 'SERVICE SHIFTER' COME UP ON MY DASH. AFTER MORE RESEARCH THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES, RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE GOING INTO PARK WHILE DRIVING AND CREATING ACCIDENTS. MINE IS A 2017 WITH ONLY 11,000 MILES ON IT. THE DEALERSHIP IS ALREADY HAVING TO REPLACE THE WHOLE SHIFTER AND COMPONENTS. EVEN THEY STATED IT'S AN ISSUE AND TOLD US THEY WOULDN'T RECOMMEND DRIVING IT UNTIL IT'S FIXED. HOW CAN A BRAND NEW VEHICLE HAVE SUCH AN ISSUE THIS EARLY ON AND NO RECALL TO FIX IT?

I HAVE PURCHASED THE JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT 2017 ABOUT 2 AND HALF MONTHS AGO IN EARLY AUGUST 2017. AS OF TODAY I HAVE ONLY DRIVEN 1986 MILES. WITHIN THESE MILES I HAVE EXPERIENCED A SERIOUS PROBLEM THREE TIMES WHICH WERE LIFE THREATENING WHILE BEING ON THE ROAD. EACH OCCURRENCE HAS HAPPENED WHEN I CAME ON A FULL STOP ON EXPRESSWAY (SAN TOMAS EXPRESSWAY IN SANTA CLARA COUNTY IN CA) AND PRESSING ON THE BRAKE WHILE THE TRANSMISSION GEAR IS ON "D" (DRIVE). WHEN TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF ME STARTED MOVING THEN I RELEASED BRAKE AND STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL, BUT THE CAR NEVER MOVED, THE MORE I STEPPED ON THE GAS, THE CAR WAS NOT GOING ANYWHERE, THEN I REALIZED THE TRANSMISSION WAS FUNCTIONING AS BEING ON NEUTRAL, HOWEVER, THE GEAR SHIFT HANDLE WAS ON "D" IN "DRIVE" POSITION. WHEN I LOOKED AT MY REAR VIEW MIRROR THE CAR BEHIND ME WAS APPROACHING VERY FAST ASSUMING I WILL MOVE, I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY GOT MY ARM OUT AND WAVE TO THE CAR BEHIND ME TO PASS ME IN ORDER TO AVOID GETTING REAR ENDED. THEN I REALIZED THE TRANSMISSION WHILE IN "D" POSITION DROPPED TO "N" FUNCTIONALITY BUT THE GEAR SHIFT AND DASHBOARD WAS STILL SHOWING AS THE CAR WAS IN "D" DRIVE POSITION. THEN I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED THE ENGINE IN "P" POSITION, RESTARTED THE CAR AND STARTED DRIVING AWAY. IN ADDITION TO THIS PROBLEM ANOTHER PROBLEM JUST STARTED, WHEN THE GEAR SHIFT HANDLE IS IN "P" POSITION WHEN YOU PUSH BUTTON ON THE SHIFT HANDLE TO MOVE FROM "P" TO ANY POSITION I STARTED HEARING A "CLICK" SOUND BY THE IGNITION KEY.
DRIVING ABOUT 25 MPH AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. NO NOISES, NO WARNINGS JUST SHUT OFF. MY DASH STATED TO "SHIFT TO PARK OR NEUTRAL, PRESS BRAKE + SELECT GEAR" ALSO MY DRIVE LIGHT WAS FLASHING RED BY THE SHIFTER. I WAS LUCKY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC AND I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND ATTEMPTED TO START. HEARD NOISE AS IF EVERYTHING WAS TURNING ON EXCEPT THE ENGINE. WAITED 5 MINUTES AND THE VEHICLE STARTED UP AGAIN. I DROVE THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT HOME AND HAVE NOT TRIED TO DRIVE IT AGAIN. IT IS A SUNDAY AND THE DEALERSHIP IS NOT OPEN SO I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL MONDAY TO CALL AND REQUEST SERVICE. A GOOGLE SEARCH OF MY JEEP SHOWED LOTS OF COMPLAINTS WITH TRANSMISSION AS WELL AS A VIDEO OF A TRAILHAWKS DASH DOING EXACTLY WHAT MINE DID.
I HAVE HAD ISSUE WITH HAVE TO GET THE OIL CHANGED WAY TO MANY TIMES SINCE I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE. I USUALLY CAN ONLY GO ABOUT 1000 MILES BEFORE I HAVE TO CHANGE THE OIL, OR ADD OIL TO IT. I HAVE CONTINUED TO MAKE MENTION OF THIS, AND THE WORKERS FROM THE DEALERSHIP, KEEP TELLING ME NOTHING IS WRONG AND IT JUST NEEDS AND OIL CHANGE. I HAVE HAD 11 OIL CHANGES, AND WILL BE GOING TOMORROW FOR ANOTHER, AND HAVE HAD TO PUT COUNTLESS AMOUNTS OF BOTTLES OF OIL INTO MY JEEP. ITS VERY FRUSTRATING.
THE VEHICLE WILL SOMETIMES ILLUMINATE A LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT, OTHER TIMES I HEAR DINGING, LIKE IF A SEAT BELT WAS NOT FASTENED, BUT SEAT BELTS ARE ON. THE CAR WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING, AND SAYS "SHIFT TO PARK OR NEUTRAL. PRESS BRAKE + SELECT GEAR". THIS HAPPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, AND CAN OCCUR WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO TURN, WHEN ACCELERATING, OR WHEN BRAKING. I HAVE HAD IT HAPPEN IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD, ON SURFACE STREETS, AND WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
5 TIMES SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON 8-9-17 THE VEHICLE HAS COME TO A STOP FOLLOWING A STOP AT A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT. IT JERKS, STOPS AND PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR DOES NOTHING. I HAVE TO SHIFT INTO N, REEVE UP THE ENGINE, SHIFT BACK INTO D, BACK INTO N, AND RETURN TO D BEFORE I CAN MOVE AHEAD. IF THIS WOULD HAPPEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WITH A VEHICLE CLOSE BEHIND THERE WOULD BE AN ACCIDENT. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD.
THE SHIFTER WENT OUT WITH LESS THAN 150 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE SHIFTER WAS REPLACED, BUT THE NEW SHIFTER DOESN'T STAY IN GEAR AND OFTEN SHIFTS VERY HARD. WHEN THE SHIFTER WENT OUT ORIGINALLY WE WERE PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT AND THE CAR DIED IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TURN OFF THE CAR AND START IT TO GET IT HOME. THE CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE AFTER WE GOT IT HOME AND TRIED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY PUT IN A NEW SENSOR BUT STILL HAVING ISSUES. WE TOOK IT IN AND THEY DID A PROGRAM UPGRADE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND GAVE IT BACK. IT HASN'T FIXED THE PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CLINTON AUTO GROUP (2850 VALLEY WEST DRIVE, CLINTON, IA 52732) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT WAS NOT ADVISED AS TO WHAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,175.
START BUTTON WILL NOT WORK IF PRESSED AT BOTTOM. WILL NOT START OR STOP.

THE DEALER (KOONS TYSONS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM, 2050 CHAIN BRIDGE RD, VIENNA, VA 22182, VA 22031, (703) 790-0900) WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE THE CONTACT'S SPOUSE WAS DRIVING 65 MPH, THE SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY AND THEN SHIFTED INTO PARK INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE, SPUN AROUND SEVERAL TIMES, AND CRASHED INTO A TRACTOR TRAILER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT'S SPOUSE SUSTAINED A BRUISED KNEE AND A CONCUSSION, BUT DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000. THE PRESETS ON THE PHONE PART OF THE TOUCH SCREEN HAVE ERASED THEMSELVES TWICE IN A MONTH
WHEN DRIVING IT WILL DING AND WILL SHOW A MESSAGE OF SERVICE SHIFTER. ALL THE LIGHTS WILL BE LIGHT UP ON THE SHIFTER. IT WILL NOT GO OFF UNTIL YOU STOP, PUT IT INTO PARK AND TURN OFF VEHICLE. HAVE HAD IT HAPPEN 6 TIMES SO FAR, TAKEN TO 2 DEALERSHIPS AND THEY CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT.
WE WERE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AND BRAKED AND WAS HIT FROM THE REAR BY A VEHICLE GOING BETWEEN 50-60MPH ON A FREEWAY AND IN TURN WE WERE PUSHED INTO A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US. DAMAGE RESULTED IN THE BACK, FRONT, AND LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. NO AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED. POWDER FROM THE AIRBAGS RELEASED AND FILLED OUR VEHICLE BUT THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS BRAND NEW AND WE HAD IT FOR TWO WEEKS. MY HUSBAND, MYSELF, AND MY 3 MONTH OLD WERE IN THE VEHICLE DURING THE COLLISION.

THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE BACK AND BOTH KNEES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DETERMINED. VEHICLE STARTED MAKING NOISE 2 WEEKS AFTER BOUGHT IT! IT MAKES A WHINY GRINDING NOISE. I WOULD BACK OUT AND WHEN I STRAIGHTEN WHEEL TO GO FORWARD, THERE IT IS! AT FIRST, THIS ONLY HAPPENED ONCE OR TWICE A DAY THEN IT WAS DOING IT CONSTANTLY. IT EVEN OCCASIONALLY WHINES WHILE DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY. MY OTHER ISSUE IS CHIRPING IN MOTOR. AT MY FIRST SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE, I INFORMED DEALERSHIP OF PROBLEMS WITH VARIOUS NOISES. I WAS TOLD THAT CHIRPING "WAS A PULLEY AND EVEN THOUGH IT WAS AN ANNOYING ISSUE AND NO SAFETY ISSUE AND SINCE IT WAS FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND I LIVED SO FAR AWAY I COULD TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP CLOSER TO MY HOME". I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP FOR PROBLEMS. I WAS TOLD NOISES WERE FROM EXCESSIVE ROAD SALT. I LAUGHED AND TOLD ADVISOR THAT I KNOW HE GOES BY WHAT HIS TECH TELLS HIM BUT WE LIVE IN NC AND THERE WAS NO SALT IN JULY. I DIDN'T CARE WHAT CAUSED IT, I JUST WANTED IT FIXED. 1. Consumer is a Permanent and Total Disabled Vet (Unemployable) and this vehicle is the only vehicle Consumer has. 2. I have a 2017 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk KL (XXX) I have owned since day one with 56k miles. 3. At all times I did not receive any recall notices for correct known safety issues. 5. I have OBD-II tools of vLinker (use everyday for LiveData), BlueDriver and TogDog. 6. For almost as long as I have had the Jeep I have experienced the following. When I say the following I mean, at all times: a. Any type of road- surface- weather- time of day- city, highway and interstate driving- speed to include deaccelerating, at stop sign/light- 1-3 x’s a day, weekly- it doesn’t matter when or where b. The PTU was replaced in 2018 according to service report, service stating they couldn’t replicate issue although they had videos, etc a total of 4-x’s c. But, I keep experiencing the following: d. Loss of acceleration, push on gas pedal nothing happens, sometimes can let off for a bit and then accelerates, revs to 6-7k up/down using/not cruise, cruise doesn’t turn off, pulling trailer and not- lose brakes when stopped rolls back, parking brake message, traction control message, service engine message, loud engine noises from in front of driver, rear back and under center console- lose of rear wheel traction, loss of park- shifting to park grinding noises, 7. I WAS STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT, MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND VEHICLE GEAR IN D, I FELT MY VEHICLE IS REVERSING (MOVING BACKWARDS), I THOUGHT MY VEHICLE GEAR WAS IN R AND FOOT ON GAS PADEL BUT THAT WAS NOT THE CASE, I DOUBLE CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THE VEHICLE GEAR WAS IN D AND FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, I PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK (P) TO MAKE SURE IT STOPS AND THEN WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I PUT IT IN DRIVE (D) AND STARTED DRIVING. IN ALL THAT BIZZARENESS, I FELT I MISSED A GREEN LIGHT AS WELL. I THOUGHT MAY BE THE VEHICLE BESIDES ME STARTED DRIVING AND IT WAS MY VISION WHICH MADE ME THINK THAT MY VEHICLE MOVED BACKWARDS BUT I AM A LONG TIME DRIVER AND SOMETHING LIKE THAT NEVER HAPPENED WITH ME BEFORE. I WAS COMPLETELY SHAKEN UP, THINKING THAT LUCKILY NO VEHICLE WAS BEHIND ME DURING ALL THAT TIME. IRREGULAR TRANSMISSION SHIFTING
THIS VEHICLE OFTEN HAS A SIGNIFICANT DELAY WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. IT JUST SITS THERE WITHOUT REVVING OR STALLING DESPITE DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. AFTER 1-3 SECONDS THE JEEP WILL "ROCKET" FORWARD. IT WILL SOMETIMES DO THIS AGAIN IMMEDIATELY AFTER TAKING OFF. IN ADDITION TO THIS SLOWING DOWN TO TURN A CORNER WILL CAUSE THE SAME RESULTS. THOUGH DANGEROUS, THE REVERSE TO DRIVE IS MUCH MORE DISTURBING AND MY FAMILY FEARS DRIVING IT. THIS IS THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE EXPERIENCED LIKE THIS IN MY DRIVING HISTORY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A WIRING HARNESS RELATED TO THE GEAR SHIFTER FUNCTION WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. SINCE ABOUT 5K MILES MY SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON PERIODICALLY. DEALERSHIP NOTIFIED AND SAID THERE'S NO CODES SO DON'T WORRY WITH IT. NOW EVERY TIME I MAKE A LEFT TURN IT COMES ON. CLEARS WHEN YOU TURN VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON UNTIL NEXT LEFT TURN. NOW I HAVE 122K ON IT STILL HAPPENS. SOMETIMES IT WILL CAUSE ERRATIC ACCELERATION. AT A STOP LIGHT IT WILL TURN ON THE PARKING BRAKE AND KILL THE ENGINE. AGAIN CLEARS WITH TURN OFF ON
The shifting of the vehicle is erratic. Sometimes when accelerating it will not change gears, redlining before it eventually does shift, lurching the car forward. This can take an extremely long time for the car to shift like it should and is a safety concern in traffic as others are not expecting this odd behavior. It can cause issues when trying to accelerate and merge on to the highway. Multiple dealerships have indicated that they hear this from owners all the time but that Chrysler has provided no resolution. The manufacturer has refused on multiple occasions to inspect the vehicle. At 1200 miles the check engine light came on. The dealership indicated the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced but Chrysler refused to replace it.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000.
WE JUST PURCHASED ABOVE VEHICLE WITH 13 MILES ON IT. LIKE THE CAR, BUT WE WERE CRAWLING ALONG AND THE CAR IN FRONT OF US STOPPED. MY HUSBAND TRIED TO STOP AND HIT BOTH THE GAS AND BRAKE PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME. THE BRAKE PEDAL AND GAS WERE SIDE BY SIDE AND HE HIT BOTH AT SAME TIME. NO SPACE BETWEEN THE PEDALS AT ALL. COST US OVER 3,000 JUST FOR OURS. THINKING OF GETTING ANOTHER VEHICLE JUST BECAUSE OF THE ABOVE.
I WAS PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN WHEN I RECEIVED AN ERROR MESSAGE STATING "4WD UNAVAILABLE". I THEN HEARD A LOUD CLUNKING SOUND AND LOST POWER TO ALL THE WHEELS. AFTER PULLING OVER, I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IT. I PLACED THE CAR IN DRIVE AND A CLUNKING SOUND PERSISTED. WHEN GIVING THE VEHICLE GAS, THE ENGINE REV'D BUT NO POWER WENT TO THE WHEELS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GEAR SELECTOR BEZEL AND HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT THE DEALER. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER PROMISED TO GET BACK WITH HER WITHIN TWENTY-FOUR HOURS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3,000.
