Current mileage 120,287 have owned since purchased in 2019. On 12/28/2025 experienced a loud pop and an apparent disconnect of power to drive wheels, place car in neutral and back into drive seemed to drive normal. After driving another 12 miles and turning onto a side road experienced the occurrence again. We began having pops and vibrations as early as 2023 predominantly during an acceleration following a turn. On 10/19/2024, mileage 98,975, I requested maintenance as “developed slack in the drive train. When slowing down it bumps, when accelerating, mostly from a stop, it bangs and slips when shifting”, however despite having a tech drive with me only the hesitation was noticed. The concluded “trans no problem found at this time.” The bangs have intermittently continued but I had never experienced the loss of power like occurred on 12/28/2025.
I have a 2019 jeep cherokee limited vin# [XXX] There is less than 65000 miles on it and the ptu has gone bad, I have been told by dealer its the same ptu with same issues that's apart of the factory recall for the 2017 - 2019 models jeeps however my specific model has not been recalled but its the same part INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The Power Transfer Unit (PTU) has failed for the SECOND TIME in this vehicles history. This problem disables the four wheel drive feature of the vehicle, causing a dashboard warning light to illuminate, and may lead to other serious drivetrain safety issues. According to the dealer service technician, the splines on the unit are wearing out and causing disengagement of the rear drive wheels. This unit was replaced two years ago, and is a known issue with the manufacturer according to my dealer service department.
Bought car, got 4WD not available light on dash, got car "scanned" at multiple outlets and there is no "code". Took to local mechanic and he diagnosed it is the PTU (power transfer unit) and told me there was a factory recall. Contacted Jeep dealership, told them of the problem, they said my vehicle is not included in the warranty but they would diagnose for me. They did and told me it will be $3,000 to fix, but that is "if" they can get the part. Told me they located the part at 2 other dealerships, but those locations won't sell the part to them. They said they are trying to get the part, but it is on back order. When I called to check they said they still haven't been able to get the part, but won't give me any concrete information about when they can fix it.
My 2019 Jeep was serviced for a 4x4 system warning light on the dashboard. At the dealership they explained my vehicle is experiencing an issue with the Transfer Case, power transfer unit. After this recommendation, I took this vehicle to another reputable mechanic who found the same issue, but then advised me this vehicle has a recall for this (PTU) power transfer unit issue. Upon reviewing the vin with another dealer they state no recall has been issued for this vehicle. I was told some of these vehicles may have been built with an improperly seated input shaft snap ring in the two speed power transfer unit. Furthermore, the input shaft snap ring that is not fully seated may allow uncontrolled movement of the input shaft inward. Uncontrolled movement leads to the potential for wear to the range shift sleeve, spline damage, and/or range fork damage which can cause an unexpected loss of motive power or loss of PARK function. A loss motive power can cause this vehicle to crash without warning. A loss of park function can cause this vehicle crash without warning and/or injury to others outside the vehicle. Like stated above, the Service 4WD message appears on the dash, with noise and vibration and changing in driving quality. Safety issue involving loss of power and braking Prior to receiving a PTU recall notice in January 2025, my vehicle began experiencing sudden and unexpected loss of power while driving, particularly when braking. Since that time, the issue has worsened significantly and now occurs more frequently. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has failed to accelerate properly after braking, creating dangerous situations in traffic. In at least one incident, there was a loss of braking power that nearly caused me to run a red light. Several of these incidents were near-accidents and occurred without warning. I have brought the vehicle to my local Jeep dealership three separate times and fully explained the loss of power and braking concerns. Each time, I was told that all issues are “directly related to the PTU recall,” that there is currently “no solution,” and that “nothing can be done.” The vehicle was returned to me without repairs despite the safety risk. The dealership has acknowledged the issue but has not provided a fix, alternative transportation, or assurance that the vehicle is safe to operate. With a longer commute and the problem occurring more often, I no longer feel safe driving the vehicle and believe an accident outside of my control is inevitable if this continues. This defect presents a serious safety hazard involving loss of acceleration and braking while driving.
Jeep will stall/ or stop completely while driving randomly. Loses power in gas pedal. Electric throttle control light comes on.
While driving my 2019 Jeep Cherokee, the engine randomly shuts off without warning. This has happened multiple times at different speeds. The vehicle suddenly loses all power, and I have to coast to the side of the road. There are no warning lights, messages, or diagnostic codes before or after the stall. The specific component causing the failure is unknown, but it seems related to the electrical/engine/powertrain system. This failure puts my safety at serious risk because the engine dies unexpectedly in traffic, which could easily cause a rear-end collision or loss of control. I had a diagnostic scan done at AutoZone and no trouble codes were found. There were no symptoms or warning lamps prior to each incident ,the engine simply shuts off while the vehicle is in motion. This is a recurring safety hazard.
I began hearing an intermittent moderate grinding sound seeming to come from the center of the vehicle just below my console while driving for about the last month's time. On some days, I would not hear the noise at all. On [XXX] I pulled onto a road and when on the road heard a loud clunk then head continuous grinding sounds. I believe it to be a failure of the PTU. I had an issue of a more constant grinding sound while driving eminating from the same area when the Jeep was at 63000 miles and still under warranty. I took it to the seller dealership, (Solomon Jeep in Brownsville, PA). They told me that the fault was with the PTU. Kept the Jeep for one month waiting for a replacement PTU. I'm pretty sure it's the ptu . I was driving up a hilly road and my jeep had no power all of a sudden. Then the service 4wheel drive light came on in the cluster,/ dash. Then when I stopped the tires would not quit spinning. But I could tell only one at a time was rolling. But it would switch to a different tire .each time it switched it would almost catapult me of to the side or towards the middle of the road..I finally just shut the engine off . Because it seemed as though it had a mind of its own ...thank God the plow truck came up this road I was on . Because I was afraid to start it again due to the fact I did not want to go off in a trench . I had no traction when the wheels kept kicking in and out of 4 wheel drive . That to me is a big safety concern. I took it to a mechanic shop the following day and he put a scan tool on it and it came back, ptu .and he told me that this year model has a recall for the same problem .

Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Unresolved Recall and Vehicle Held Since February 2025 To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting this letter to formally report significant concerns regarding an unresolved safety recall affecting my Jeep Cherokee. My vehicle has now been held at an authorized dealership since February 2025 due to the lack of an available remedy. Since the original recall notice, I have contacted both the dealership and the Stellantis recall hotline multiple times. Each time, I am given a new projected month for the remedy to become available. In October I was told November, in November I was told December, and now in December I am being told January. This cycle continues with no definitive solution, effectively leaving me without access to my vehicle for nearly a year. I am also concerned about the extended period of inactivity and the resulting potential for component degradation, including leaky seals, warped rotors, electrical issues, and tire damage. The service department assured me this would not be a concern, but I disagree and believe the prolonged storage may create additional safety issues or repair needs. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in reviewing this matter, as the lack of remedy and extended vehicle hold time appears unreasonable and may represent a failure in recall execution. What happened : The vehicle experienced a sudden electrical failure and loss of normal shutdown control. The vehicle would not start or turn over. After repeated attempts, it eventually started, at which point all dashboard lights began flashing uncontrollably. The engine continued running even after the ignition was turned off and the key was removed. The only way to shut the vehicle down was to disconnect the battery. This created a safety concern due to the inability to control the vehicle’s electrical systems or safely shut off the engine. The failure occurred without prior warning. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership for inspection. Diagnostics confirmed a failure of the Body Control Module (BCM). The Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) was also found to be non-functional and may have been affected by the BCM failure. The vehicle remains inoperable and is awaiting replacement of the BCM, which is currently on backorder with no estimated availability. The failed components are available for inspection upon request. The issue has been confirmed by the dealership. No crash occurred, but the malfunction posed a potential safety risk due to uncontrolled electrical behavior and inability to shut down the vehicle normally.
The vehicle is subject to an active safety recall involving the two-speed power transfer unit (PTU), which can cause loss of motive power and/or loss of PARK function. The vehicle displayed a “Service 4WD” message and all-wheel drive functionality is disabled. The issue has been confirmed by a Jeep dealership, which stated that the recall repair cannot be performed because the manufacturer has not released the remedy under the recall. The dealership also stated the replacement PTU part is available for retail purchase but is not authorized for recall installation. The vehicle is being operated in winter conditions without all-wheel drive, increasing the risk of loss of control. The manufacturer has provided conflicting information, with the recall assistance center stating the recall was resolved, while the dealership and VIN recall system continue to show the recall as incomplete. Warning messages related to the drivetrain appeared prior to this complaint. The vehicle has not been repaired, and the recall remains open with no timeline for remedy.
I was driving the vehicle under normal road conditions, started to hear a whine from under the vehicle, then felt an explosion from under the vehicle. A lot of lights came in on the dash, and I could barely pull the vehicle over to the side of the road and turn it off. I had the vehicle towed to my garage, and they said the PTU had exploded, and my transfer case has a hole in it now. There is an active recall on certain models, but mine is not included
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 25V011000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
-There is a warning that pops up on the dash saying "4WD unavailable, needs service". It's winter and I can't use the "snow mode" or 4WD. -Potential for issues if I get stuck in the snow. -Took it to a repair shop to deal with the service light and they told me there was a recall. I was unaware until today. -Went to Jeep dealer and was informed there is no fix available at this time. It appears the recall was issued January 16, 2025.
Since December 2025 we have had a "Service 4WD" light on our dash. Recall 01C was announced on 01/26/25. I have contacted Jeep dealers and Chrysler customer service with help/resolution to this. That all tell me to wait for parts. It's been a year. When will this be addressed???
Service 4WD/AWD light appears every time I drive the car. Similar to a recent recall that was issued on the 2019 Jeep Cherokee for the PTU problems. Brought to dealership to diagnose the service light and the dealership confirmed the problem, which was similar to the recent recall.
This car has had the recall for quite sometime and the dealership refuses to help because there hasn’t been a fix yet with this recall. It has powered off or simply stop working in the middle of the road multiple times. Today on the most dangerous highway in Colorado Springs in the snow it turn off and all the messages relating to the recall turned on. It was the scariest moment of my life
The power transfer unit in my Jeep Cherokee 2019 Latitude failed and required a replacement, at significant cost (over $2000). It is my belief that Jeep’s recall campaign (ID - O1C) was too narrow and ought to have included my vehicle. I have called Jeep three times without a proper answer to my concern. The failure of the power transfer unit was publicly described as a safety issue and I was unable to drive the vehicle for nearly two months.
Started financing this vehicle 11/8/25- driving on the interstate on 11/27/25 I started hearing thumping noises coming from my vehicle, I thought it was the road so I turned my radio and everything off and listened and it continued so I pulled over. I put the vehicle in park, walked around my vehicle to check for flat tires and to see if I possibly ran over something and there was nothing. I put it in reverse and it pulled itself back a little.. I put it back in park and checked around the vehicle again. I got back in the vehicle and put it back in drive and it wouldn't budge. I sat on the side of the road for over 6 hrs, 2 hrs away from home. My dealership didn't put in any of my information or transfer for the vehicle at the time it was suppose to be put in at signing and so I was out almost $600 in tow charges back to the dealership because my warranty hadn't went into effect. I've had 4 loaner vehicles threw this dealership which in return has caused me to lose my job because of other defects wrong with those vehicles as well. The mechanic at the dealership where I purchased the vehicle looked at it and told me that the rear differential had went out. And that the warranty company denied my claim. The dealership messaged me on 1/5/26 to come get my vehicle, that it had been fixed and was ready to go. On 1/6/26 I was proceeding to take my partner to work and as I was pulling out to leave, the vehicle started to make the same noises as before. I pulled back and parked my vehicle back. We have lost income now over this matter and possibly another job if we continue to call in or can't make it to work. I have 3 small children all under the age of [XXX] . I've called the Chrysler/jeep dealership and everyone says they can't help me. I've pointed out the recalls of the same matter on other jeep Cherokee's and how much of a safety issue this is. Vehicle is available for inspection any time. 1/6/26- the vehicle also had a warning sign pop up on the dash for the auto start. The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that on three occasions after refueling the vehicle and driving approximately two feet, the vehicle unexpectedly shutoff. The message to “Shift to Park” was displayed. The contact activated the hazard lights. The accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The vehicle was eventually restarted. The contact associated the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train). The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.
Service 4WD light came on and stays on. Odometer flashes continuously. No 4 wheel drive functions operate. Dealer scanned for codes. Determined the transfer case control module was defective. Replacement did not fix the problem ($600.00). Then the fix was new tires because the front tires were worn more than the rear ($ 1000.00). That did not fix the problem either. Now we wait for the recall to materialize. The recall came out a year ago ( JAN 2025). Still no parts or fixes available for this problem.
Power Transfer Unit is showing error codes as my Service 4WD has been activated for warning light. Research shows many Jeep Cherokees from 2014-2019 were recalled for same issue. My Jeep Cherokee was not and now I have the PTU issue. My vehicle is 4WD and it cannot be used, long term effects can cause problems for my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train). The contact stated that while driving 75 MPH, the engine started revving, and the RPM was redlined. The vehicle then lost power. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and shifted into park(P), but the vehicle continued to coast. The contact turned off the vehicle and activated the parking brake. The vehicle was restarted after the tow truck arrived, and the contact observed the "Service Transmission" message being displayed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transfer case needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts not being available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the 4WD warning light was illuminated, turned on and off, and then remained illuminated. There was an abnormal clunking sound while driving at 15 MPH and accelerating. Upon research, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with a PTU internal shift fork binding that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
While driving my vehicle last Thursday, November 20th, the "SVC 4WD" warning light came on without warning, following an audible and tangible thump from beneath the vehicle. Following this, a high-pitched grinding/whining could be heard from centrally beneath the vehicle, and the vehicle was unsteady accelerating/decelerating. The vehicle would not remain in park, and no drive was going to the back wheels. I believe this to be the same issue as in recall 01C for Jeep Cherokee KLs 2017-2019, which my vehicle falls into. This is a recall on an improperly seated input shaft snap ring in the power transfer unit (PTU) which my Jeep dealership has confirmed, damaged the transmission and differential components, including the axle rods. The vehicle is unusable in its current state, and is currently sitting at a valued repair cost of approximately $7000.
While driving 4WD warning light appeared on dash display. I pulled over shortly after and checked for obvious clues such as leaking oil, loose belts and burning smells, nothing to be found. Currently, I was advised not to drive this vehicle due to causing additional damage or breakdown. I am still waiting for the part to be delivered so this could be repaired.
My 2019 Jeep Cherokee service light for 4wd came on. After having the car into a Jeep dealership for diagnostic/service I was told it was the PTU and no replace/fix is available. There is a recall for this year, make, model for this exact problem ( PTU ) however , my VIN# is not included under this recall. They need to widen the recall to ALL affected by this problem. clearly , my car has a PTU issue confirmed by the dealership, is the same year, make and model as the recalled cars with EXACT same problem.
I needed an oil pressure sending switch, oil filter housing and intake manifold gaskets replaced. I took it to a garage for the oil leak. Was told not to use it . If the oil leak got worse, the oil could have made the road slippery if it rained or I could have blown the engine. The car sat until I got an appointment.
The oil pressure sending switch failed. Oil filter housing and gaskets were replaced. I had oil leaks and took it to a garage to get it checked and was told not to drive it if possible. I was leaking oil bad. If I drove it and oil leaked out it could have made the road slick or possibly blown up the engine.
There is a recall for the PTU MOTOR in jeep cherokee 2019 our car is currently not included in it but recall but that exact part is needing to be replaced in our jeep. Could our jeep be included in that recall.
Went to Greenwood and dealer said you need that recalled PTU. Said, “ it is unsafe to drive Jeep with bad PTU and is leaking transmission fluid! Had to park it and bought different car! Still have and transmission is not smooth or sealed! This is a very long not solved jeep issue. Send me or my dealer the recalled PTU part already! Rediculous bad stellaris MOPAR company. Am very very angry. Speed it the heck up !!!!
I'm an elder who lives alone. My Jeep is my only regular transportation. I'm now fearful about this Jeep Recall 01C / NHTSA 25V-011 since things are happening that night mean my safety and my vehicle are greatly at risk! My SRC 4WD light came on about 10 days ago and I no longer have the ability to put my Jeep in 4WD as it says it must be serviced first. This ONLY STATED about 10 days ago. I have an appointment with a dealer this coming Wed, Dec 3. I said I was coming in for a recall and because my SRV 4WD light was coming on. I am not mechanical and didn't really understand the recall (NOW I do as I've researched ad nauseam!) I was told I'd have to pay 187 for a scan!! WHAT?!? Now that I know the story I will NOT do that! I will still go and explain my concerns but what a rip off that would have been! I am afraid now, of driving my car - and yet there is no FIX as of yet - not in MANY MONTHS - which I read is totally inappropriate with no recourse. This is just wrong for a SAFETY recall with my vehicle having 'symptoms' of this issue now being 'engaged' in some way. I did a couple of SRV 4WD easy troubleshooting steps of disconnecting neg battery cable for 50 minutes then re-attached and brought all 4 tires up to EXACT same PSI. Plus I had a simple scan done at auto parts store that shows nothing but a customer there offered to use his much better scanner and see photos to see what he found re: my PTU. What do I do? What CAN I do? I'd appreciate a quick response please. My only child, a [XXX] son, was killed in a car accident in 2016 and I really don't have anyone who can support me in this situation. PTU failure. Causing vehicle to roll when placed in park. Service 4WD indicator light. Many other 2019 Cherokee models are part of a major recall. This one should be included.
Lurching when stopping and service 4 wheel drive notification came on. Took to Jeep for diagnostics. Recall was done for this and my jeep has this issue I currently have a power train controller that is out I have no power from controller to rear. Currently now my all wheel drive doesn't work at all .
While driving my 2019 Jeep Cherokee, the vehicle's start/stop system malfunctioned and caused the engine to completely shut off at a traffic light. I had my hazard lights on, and while stopped safely another driver rear ended my vehicle. The Jeep has had repeated issues with stalling and engine shut-off since I purchased it. This is a serious safety concern and could have caused greater injury. I brought my vehicle to the dealership 3 times for the same issues once back in 01/25/2023, when the vehicle was still under warranty a part was ordered and replaced, but the same issues kept recurring. When I brought the vehicle back in in 2024 I was told because my warranty had expired I would have to pay out of pocket to repair the issue.
The PTU assembly has failed internally. The repair shop has collected a DTC as well which is C14A7-97 "PTU obstructed." The vehicle is available for inspection, but the repair shop has not disassembled the unit as disassembly is not required based off the symptoms and trouble code populated, the only repair for this is PTU replacement. If the vehicle had continued to be driven, there is a possibility of the PTU assembly breaking internally to a degree to cause damage to itself and the transmission, POTENTIALLY, causing a sudden deceleration, loss of power or a jerking motion. Yes, the concern has been confirmed by the dealership and vehicle is still currently at the dealership. It has only been inspected by the dealership at this point in time. Yes, the "Service 4WD" warning light illuminated in the instrument cluster. The light is still on and it generated an active code of C14A7-97 indicating internal PTU failure. The shop/dealership has had our vehicle for going on 5 months (since November 13, 2025) with no date of repair in sight. This is our only car/transportation and so expenses on transportation and inconvenience has been high during this period of time. We need all repairs for the Jeep covered and we need a rental car covered by the Manufacturer of the Jeep.
I am writing to report a safety concern regarding my 2019 Jeep Cherokee. I recently learned that a specific part on the 2018 Jeep Cherokee was recalled due to a known defect (Oil Pump Recall (Recall T65 / NHTSA 17V-670). My 2019 Cherokee is now experiencing the exact same issue that was identified in the recall for the previous model year. Because the problem appears to be identical to the 2018 recall condition, I believe this may indicate a continuing safety defect affecting additional model years that were not included in the original recall campaign. I am requesting: 1.A formal review and investigation into whether the recalled part on the 2018 model also affects the 2019 Cherokee. 2.A FULL refund to what I paid to have this repaired. And yes a receipt can be provided. 3.Written confirmation of the steps you will take to address this matter. This issue is a safety concern, and I want to ensure it is properly documented and investigated. Please advise on how this can be resolved. Last year my vehicle started making noises. I took it to the mechanic, and they informed me it needs a new rear differential unit. I called the dealer Brigham-Gill Village Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and they told me the vehicle was out of warranty, however i noticed A 2025 recall affects 2017-2019 Jeep Cherokees, including the Limited trim, due to a faulty Power Transfer Unit (PTU) that can disengage the transmission and rear differential.
Tuesday 11/11 my 2019 Jeep Cherokee was involved in an accident due to the PTU not working properly. In PA we had very poor road conditions due to snow throughout the night into the morning. When making a turn my car slid and hit a curb damaging the front right side of my vehicle. I do believe the safety of myself and others had been put at risk. while no one else was involved in the accident just me it could have been worse if it weren’t so early in the morning and little traffic on the roads. I had my vehicle in the Scranton Dodge and Jeep dealership about a month prior to inspect the issue and they were unable to fix it due to the part being on back order and my cars VIN not being specified on the recall for this issue. I was also told that my vehicle was safe to continue driving in the meantime which is not the case. I have had the vehicle inspected by a dealership and my insurance company was involved for the damages produced by the accident. The warning message has been on but no one has the part to do anything about it and like previously stated was told the vehicle was fine to drive. I had this issue inspected in the beginning of october. I have also contacted Jeep and they told me there is nothing they can do for me since my VIN is not specified. I bought this car to get safely to and from places during the winter months in PA and that clearly is not the case now. It is very frustrating being a full time student and paying on a car that does not do the job that it’s supposed to do when I bought it and now I am thousands into a vehicle for parts that is more than the actual value of the car itself.
My Jeep will accelerate forward when breaking, stall at a red light and roll back, massive humming and grinding on the peddle, start/stop failure and failure to start. I've been able to avoid two crashes so far and used my own scanner to detect the problem. Nothing comes up. I bought this shady vehicle oct/3/25. dates of incidents include oct 3rd- November 10th.
Power Transfer Unit (PTU), The Service 4WD light keeps coming on and off. 2019 Jeep Cherokee
Was on the highway going 65mph and transfer case exploded. No warning of anyway wrong. Vehicle locked up.Could spun out but was able to get to shoulder of the road.
Last week my 4wd service light came on. I took it to get diagnosed and was advised my ptu was faulty and needed to be replaced. There are recalls out for a faulty ptu but my vin was not included.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V011000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while at a complete stop in a construction zone, the vehicle failed to accelerate upon depression of the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle made an abnormal grinding sound. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was shifted to neutral(N) and pulled over to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer confirmed that the failure was related to the recall; however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and the contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
The “SVC 4WD” warning indicator illuminated on my dashboard. A diagnostic test performed at an authorized dealership confirmed a failure in the Power Transfer Unit (PTU). The PTU and the vehicle are still installed and available for inspection upon request. The warning light appears intermittently—turning on for a period of time, then shutting off before returning. This issue presents a potential safety risk. The dealership explained that PTU failure can result in loss of power while driving or the vehicle failing to remain securely in Park, either of which could lead to loss of control or unintended vehicle movement, posing a risk to myself, passengers, pedestrians, and other motorists. The problem has been confirmed by the dealership through diagnostic testing. No repairs have been completed at this time because, although this is a known issue affecting this year, make, and model, the PTU failure is not currently covered under a recall or warranty extension. I have also observed multiple reports of PTU failure in other vehicles of the same year, make, and model, suggesting a pattern of premature failure that may indicate a potential design or manufacturing defect. To date, the vehicle has only been inspected by the dealership and has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. There were no other warning lamps or symptoms prior to the “SVC 4WD” indicator. The warning light first appeared on 11/3/2025, and the vehicle was brought in for diagnostic evaluation on 11/5/2025.
While driving 50mhp the vehicle sounded like it was stalling. Couldn't speed up. Svc 4wd and stop/ start system unavailable. There should be a recall to repair but the dealer has no solution or parts. Need solution asap
The 4 wheel drive light would come on and off then it stayed on so I took it to a Jeep dealership and paid for an OBD scan it showed the Power Train Unit (PTU) and I had my car put on OBD scan again and found out the Throttle Position sensor (TPS) also is in need of replacement after I was entering the highway my gas pedal did not accelerate and I was lucky to be able to downshift into manual and coast off the highway. I have looked it up and the Power Train Unit (PTU) has been recalled on vehicles like mine but my vehicle is not listed for recall replacement. I can have vehicle ready for inspection.
