THE VEHICLE'S INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM STARTED TO INTENSLY MALFUNCTION WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. MULTIPLE FUNCTIONS STARTED TO MALFUNCTION SIMULTANEOUSLY INCLUDING THE RADIO, AIR CONDITIONING, AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM WOULD ALSO RANDOMLY TURN OFF AND TURN BACK ON. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF TO SEE IF THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE MULTIPLE MALFUNCTIONS. THE VEHICLE THEN STARTED TO MOVE AND THE SAME ISSUES WERE STILL OCCURING. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED ON A CITY STREET AND A HIGHWAY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LENOIR CITY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (1206 E BROADWAY ST, LENOIR CITY, TN 37772, 865-321-8418) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED IF THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND A FAILURE, THEN THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3,000. *DT CONSUMER STATED OIL LEVEL WAS VERIFIED FULL BY SERVICE TECH AND CONSUMER, JEEP HAS 3200 MILES NOW IS STILL FULL OF THE FACTORY OIL AND HAS NEVER ANY ADDED OR BEEN CHANGED. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW AND NOT EVEN A WEEK LATER IT WAS THROWING EVERY SINGLE CODE POSSIBLE. TRIED TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT IT DIED 17 TIMES INCLUDING IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC.. EVERY WARNING LIGHT WAS ON SAYING SERVICE SOMETHING DIFFERENT EVERYTIME. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH EXACTLY 300 MILES ON IT THEY PRINTED A SHEET WITH 35+ CODES THAT THE CAR WAS SHOWING. ITS BEEN OVER A WEEK AND AFTER CHECKING IN THEY SAID THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW/IF IT CAN BE FIXED. AT THIS POINT EVEN IF IT CAN BE FIXED WHATS TO SAY IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN. ITS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE!!
I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THIS CAR IT STARTED OUT WITH WHEN I WENT TO GO CHANGE THE RADIO ON THE TOUCH SCREEN THE SCREEN WAS SO HOT IT BURNT MY FINGER. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH JLS JEEP AND THEY SAID THERE WERE A LOT OF RADIO CODES COMING UP SO THEY WERE GOING TO REPLACE IT. AFTER THE RADIO IS REPLACED MY CAR THEN DECIDED TO WAS NOW GOING TO SHUT OFF ON ME WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT SPEEDS 55MPH. THE D ON THE SHIFTER STARTED FLASHING AND THEN THE SCREEN ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED FLASHING SAYING PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURN IT OFF. DURING THIS TIME I COULD NO LONGER USE THE GAS PEDAL AND HAD LITTLE CONTROL OVER THE STEERING WHEEL FOR IT WAS STIFF ALMOST AS IF THE CAR JUST LOCKED UP. SINCE I WAS ON A HIGHWAY WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS 55MPH I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT ANOTHER CAR DID NOT HIS ME SINCE THERE WAS LITERALLY NOTHING I COULD DO UNTIL THE CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THEN I HAD TO PUT IT IN PARK AND TURN IT ON AND OFF AGAIN.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AS I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC AT INTERSECTION THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING THEREFORE TRAFFIC IN ALL DIRECTIONS WAS COMING AT ME DUE TO NO SIGN THAT THE VEHICLE WAS GOING TO STOP UNEXPECTDLY.
THE VEHICLE IS BURNING OIL. THERE ARE NO LEAKS ANYWHERE ON THE ENGINE COMPONENTS OR ON MY GARAGE FLOOR. I HAVE ALWAYS CHECKED MY OIL FAITHFULLY ON ALL MY VEHICLES AS I GO OUT OF TOWN ONCE A MONTH. WHEN I GOT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW I IMMEDIATELY CHECKED THE FLUID LEVELS. THE OIL LEVEL WAS HALF WAY BETWEEN THE HASH MARKS ON THE DIP STICK. WITHIN A MONTH AND A HALF I NOTICED A DECREASE IN THE OIL LEVEL. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 5 MONTHS AND THE OIL LEVEL IS BARELY ABOVE WHERE THE HASH MARKS START. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I REPORTED THIS WHEN THEY REPLACED MY TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY DUE TO ANOTHER ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THE OIL IS WITHIN THE HASH MARKS AND IT IS FINE. IT IS NOT FINE WHEN A NEW VEHICLE IS BURNING THIS MUCH OIL. I HAVE READ REPORTS OF THE VEHICLE STALLING BEING LOW ON OIL. I CANNOT HAVE THIS HAPPEN TO ME GOING OUT OF TOWN. I HAVE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THIS ADDRESSED AGAIN BECAUSE THEY DID NOT DOCUMENT ANYTHING WHEN I REPORTED IT TO THE DEALER THE FIRST TIME. *DT UPDATED 12/11/18*JB
BRAND NEW CAR WITH 12 MILES ON IT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, WILL NOT GO OVER 27 MPH ON HWY. WHEN TRY TO FILL WITH GAS IT FLUSHES BACK OUT THE TANK. ALREADY SERVICED FOR INTERNAL BRAKE SWITCH FAILURE. AFTER PICKED UP, RAN FINE FOR 48 HOURS THEN ABS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON , A W/EXCLAMATION POINT LIGHT CAME ON AND MESSAGE SAYING..."SERVICE STABILITY CONTROL" NOW JEEP IS BACK IN SHOP. DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN IT AT ALL.
THE TRANSMISSION TAKES FAR TOO LONG TO DOWNSHIFT WHEN CALLED UPON FOR A QUICK DROP IN GEARS. WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR EVEN NORMAL CITY SPEEDS, WHEN YOU NEED TO CHANGE LANES FOR A QUICK PASS OF ANOTHER VEHICLE AND PUSH THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR, THE VEHICLE IS LEFT WAITING FOR 2 TO 3 SECONDS FOR A DOWNSHIFT WITH ONLY COASTING POWER, NO ACCELERATION. THIS LAG TIME FOR A DOWNSHIFT & APPLICATION OF POWER CLEARLY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BECAUSE IT IS HARDLY SAFE OR REASONABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (KREBS CHRYSLER/JEEP, 100 KREBS DR., GIBSONIA, PA), BUT NO FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE TAIL LIGHTS BECOME CLOUDED DUE TO CONDENSATION THAT APPEARS AFTER THE RUNNING LIGHTS HAVE WARMED UP THE INSIDE OF THE TAIL LIGHT HOUSING. THIS OCCURS IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS. CONDENSATION DOES DISSIPATE OR FADE AWAY WHEN LIGHTS AND THE CAR HAVE BEEN TURNED OFF AND STATIONARY FOR SOME TIME.
VEHICLE LOCKED UP AFTER STEPPING ON BRAKE AT STOP LIGHT. DASH LIGHTS STARTED BLINKING OFF AND ON.
RIGHT AFTER LEASES THE NEW CAR , DRIVE DOWN TO HIGHWAY ENGINE LIGHT ON STARING WHEEL NOT MOVING , STOP THE CAR SIDE OF HIGHWAY, TOW THE CAR TO OTHER JEEP DEALER ,DAY AFTER THEY CALLED ITS WORKING BUT DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IS PROBLEM. TALK TO ORIGINAL DEALERS TO ASK CHANGE OTHER NEW ONE BUT THEY DINED.
ENGINE SHUTS OFF ITSELF WHILE DRIVING AT 40MPH IN 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS . ALL ISSUES IN THIS CAR START WITH THE RADIO RESETING ITSELF TO ANTITHEFT/ENGINEER MODE OR SHUTTING OFF *TT
A WEEK AFTER BUYING THE VEHICLE I STARTED TO FEEL IT SHIFT ROUGH AND HARD. CAN LITERALLY HEAR IT SHIFT LIKE METAL ON METAL. GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. WAS TOLD NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY. THIS IS VERY DISHEARTENING. A BRAND NEW 2019 VEHICLE. I DID RESEARCH ON THIS CAR BEFORE I BOUGHT IT. IT SEEMS THE 2014 AND 2015 MODELS WERE THE ONES WITH THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THERE WAS NOT MUCH COMPLAINT-WISE AFTER THOSE YEARS, SO I THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE IT A SHOT AS THE VEHICLE WAS REASONABLY PRICED AND HAD EVERYTHING I WANTED. WELL, IT SEEMS THIS 2019 IS EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME ISSUES AS THE 2014 AND 2015 MODELS. THEY ORDERED THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY AND HAD IT INSTALLED. IT SOMEWHAT HELPED WITH HIGHER GEARS BUT IT STRUGGLES FINDING LOWER GEARS STILL AND THERE IS SEVERE HESITATION WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND THEN ACCELERATING. VERY HARD TO CLEAR INTERSECTIONS WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS AND IT SLAMMED INTO FIRST GEAR VERY HARD ONE TIME SLOWING DOWN AND THEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. YOU CAN ALSO HEAR IT SHIFT LOUDLY WHEN IT DOWN SHIFTS TO FIRST GEAR, AGAIN LIKE METAL ON METAL AS I STATED ABOVE.
THE RADIO WILL SUDDENLY GO OUT AND MULTI-COLORED LINES WILL APPEAR ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SCREEN. SOMETIMES THE MUSIC WILL CONTINUE TO PLAY OTHER TIMES IT WILL NOT. IT SEEMS TO BE EFFECTING THE RUNNING LIGHTS ONLY ON ONE SIDE. THE TIME FRAME WHEN IT GOES OUT AND COMES BACK ON VARIES, ANYWHERE FROM A FEW SECONDS OR UNTIL I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION AND THEN LUNGED FORWARD. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,250.
DRIVING THE JEEP ON THE NJ TURNPIKE THE STEERING WHEEL WENT SLACK. MY WIFE REACTED BY JERKING THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE INTO THE ADJACENT LANE NEARLY MISSING ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE GUARD RAIL. THE JEEP WAS GOING 66 MPH (THE SPEED LIMIT IS 70MPH THERE). I'VE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WE LEASED IT FROM 3 TIMES AND THEY SAY THEY WON'T OR CAN'T REPAIR IT BECAUSE WHEN THEY TEST DROVE IT THE PROBLEM DIDN'T OCCUR. IT IS AN INTERMITTENT, SERIOUS PROBLEM. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL INCIDENTS OF THIS NATURE REPORTED FOR THIS MODEL JEEP IN THE NHTSA LAST YEAR AND THIS YEAR. BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL FOR A MAJOR ACCIDENT DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WITH THIS PROBLEM WE RESTRICT WHEN AND WHERE WE DRIVE IT.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and the mechanic related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V739000 (Power Train). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 8,500.
Newnan Peachtree Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram: The dealership initially identified the recall-related failure but subsequently "deleted operations" from my service record. They replaced these with different labor codes and "tag numbers" to misclassify the repair. By deleting the recall codes, the dealer successfully billed my third-party extended warranty for a transmission replacement. This allowed the dealer to collect a higher labor rate while unnecessarily depleting my private warranty’s limit of liability. The dealer failed to address the root cause (the Power Transfer Unit/PTU). My vehicle was returned to me still exhibiting grinding noises, which is a known precursor to sudden power loss on the highway. During the unauthorized warranty work and a concurrent oil change, the engine oil cooler was damaged. Furthermore, the dealership failed to perform a mandatory cooling line flush, causing metallic debris to contaminate new components.
My 2019 jeep cherokee has a warning light on ( SVC 4WD ) . Took it into dealership about 2 months ago ( eide in pine city mn [XXX] ) they came back with it needing a new (PTU )power transfer unit. I can get you the receipt from them if needed. We are on a waiting list and check 3 other dealership near me all are saying about another 2 months! We are still able to drive the jeep but only 2wd . We live in MN my wife's a nurse and drives in snow storms. That is the reason we got a 4 wheel drive. Also the jeep will make a noice going into park and not always parking! Went on line and looked up my vin number and it shows the recall on the ptu but are jeep isn't included in that ! I need to get this fixed. I do think this should be on this recall. There was a 4x4 warning light in Dec 2024. The dealership checked and provided a quote for a new PTU, but said we could keep driving until repair, just not to use 4x4. Then we received a recall notice for the PTU from Jeep. Have been trying to get it fixed since. The dealership says there are no parts and no remedy for the recall. The Jeep Recall team says to take it to the dealership to get it fix, pay out of pocket then get reimbursed. The Jeep Recall team does not understand there are no parts available. Twice the recall team has closed the recall case number without following up if the repair was complete. This was my wife's vehicule. In Jan and Feb of 2025 we started to have loss of power while driving in traffic, so it has been sitting idle since. I had a DMV non op on it for time, but reactivated. I was told by Jeep there would be a solution in the fourth quarter of 2025, but that has come and gone. I had to buy a new vehicule for my wife. The Jeep just sits. I tried different lawyers for possible legal action, but they wont take the case, unless the vehicule has been at the dealership waiting to be repair or has been attempted to be repair three times. It has been a long wait for nothing so far.
