The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while reversing, the rear-view camera displayed a distorted image. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the rear-view camera needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000.
The car was being operated by my daughter Nicole on the highway when the car in front of her stops suddenly. The collision avoidance system did not engage there was no warning and the brakes did not automatically engage. It resulted in a minor rear end collision without airbags. The dealer has already checked the system and says there are no faults. I have other Chrysler vehicles and I have seen the system activate on all of them at one point or another. Never before has one not activated in a situation where it should have.
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
