THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE DELAY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY FAILED TO START. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THIS JEEP COMMANDER WAS SITTING AT THE GAS STATION AFTER DRIVING IT HOME 30 MILES. UPON IGNITION OF ENGINE, THERE WAS A LOUD EXPLOSIVES SOUND, THE ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE A BUCKET OF BOLTS. I SHUT OFF THE IGNITION IMMEDIATELY, THEN GOT IT TOWED HOME UNTIL I GOT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE CAR REQUIRES A NEW ENGINE. THERE ARE MANY SIMILAR CASES TO MY STORY, AND I BELIEVE THERE WAS A MAJOR FAILURE DUE TO FAULTY ENGINE COMPONENTS. AN INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE LAUNCHED. THERE ARE TOO MANY PEOPLE REPORTING THE SAME FAILURE, IF NOT ON THIS SITE, THAN ON OTHER JEEP COMMANDER FORUM SITES. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP MECHANIC THAT THERE IS AM BAD PART IN THE CYLINDER #8 THAT MALFUNCTIONS CAUSING IMMEDIATE FAILURE UPON RESTARTING THE CAR. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. THERE ARE OVER 1500 COMPLAINTS FOR TH SAME PROBLEM AND NO ONE HAS FIXED THE PROBLEM. *TR

AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE GIVEN. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. UPDATED 7/16/15*CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AT TIMES. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. UPDATED 08/06/15*JB

MY JEEP COMMANDER HAS A RECALL, I TOOK IT IN RIGHT AWAY AND WAS TOLD PART NOT AVAILABLE. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR AND STILL NOT FIXED. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS NO PARTS IN YET AND ITS BEEN OVER ONE YEAR. ONE YEAR AND I HAVE MADE MULTIPLE TRIPS AND CALLS TO THE RIO VISTA CALIFORNIA CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND THEIR RESPONSE IS THAT CHRYSLER IS TO SEND ME A LETTER WHEN THE PART IS AVAILABLE. DEALERSHIP IS SAYING PART NOT AVAILABLE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND MY CHILDREN'S SAFETY COMES FIRST. I'M APPALLED AT HOW THIS HAS BEEN HANDLED. I'VE BEEN PATIENT FOR TOO LONG.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRICAL IGNITION SWITCH FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT LATER DISCOVERED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), BUT HAD NOT YET RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF THE RECALL. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF THE RECALL THREE WEEKS LATER AND CALLED THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE DEALER VERIFIED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BUT ALSO STATED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT REMOVED ALL ITEMS FROM HER KEY RING AS ADVISED IN THE INITIAL RECALL NOTIFICATION; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED FOR A YEAR AND THE DEALER STILL DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE BOTH CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE A TIME FRAME IN WHICH THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. WHILE TRAVELING ON AN EXPRESSWAY IN CENTRAL MICHIGAN, I WAS USING THE CRUISE CONTROL TO MAINTAIN A SPEED OF 75 MPH. WITH NO WARNING AT ALL, THE MECHANICAL COMPONENTS OF THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN, LEAVING MY JEEP "DEAD IN THE HIGHWAY". I WAS ABLE TO STEER AND BRAKE, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATION BY PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. I PULLED OFF TO THE SHOULDER, LUCKILY WITHOUT INCIDENT. TURNED THE KEY TO THE "OFF" POSITION AND WAITED ABOUT 10 SECONDS. I TURNED THE KEY TO THE "ON" POSITION AND IT STARTED BACK UP. I CAUTIOUSLY DROVE AT A CONSIDERABLY SLOWER SPEED UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A REST STOP. WHEN I GOT TO MY DESTINATION I FOUND A LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE AND HAD THEM DO A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK. IT SHOWED A MAF SENSOR GONE BAD. MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR WAS REPLACED. HOPING THAT WAS THE ISSUE, AFTER SEVERAL DAYS, MY FAMILY AND I HEADED BACK HOME ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STATE. WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 60 MPH WITH CRUISE CONTROL, THERE WERE NO ISSUES. I FIGURED THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. UNFORTUNATELY, I WAS WRONG. AS I REACHED THE HIGHWAY WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS 70 MPH, I ACCELERATED TO 70 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL. AS SOON AS I BROKE THE 70 MPH POINT, THE CAR MECHANICALLY STALLED AGAIN AS I WAS TRYING TO MERGE ONTO THE BUSY HIGHWAY. AGAIN, LUCKILY, I MADE IT SAFELY TO THE SHOULDER AND RESTARTED. I WAS ABLE TO EXCEED 70 MPH ON THE WAY HOME WITHOUT USING THE CRUISE CONTROL. CONCERNED FOR MY PREGNANT WIFE, TODDLER SON, AND MY OWN SAFETY, AS THIS HAPPENED ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED; WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS OR SOUNDS. *TR
THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES CRACK AND BREAK: THIS IS SAFETY HAZARD TRAP FOR MANY CONSUMER BECAUSE YOU CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE IF IN AN ACCIDENT OR IN AN EMERGENCY. I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THIS COMPLAINT SINCE THIS VEHICLE CAME OUT ON THE MARKET SEVERAL HUNDRED AND SO FAR NOTHING HAS BEEN TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. ONLY HAVING THE CONSUMER FIX IT THEIR SELF WHICH IS VERY COSTLY TO FIX. MY DEALER SHOP QUOTED ME 500.00 PER DOOR AND I HAVE 2 THAT ARE BADLY CRACKED AND BROKEN : PLEASE CONSIDER A RECALL ON THE DOOR HANDLES AND THINK OF THE SAFELY OF ADULTS AND CHILDREN . THIS HAPPENS BY JUST OPENING A DOOR DUE TO POOR PRODUCT SELECT ON THE MANUFACTURER.

BRAKING TO APPROACH A RED LIGHT AT AN INTERSECTION THE BRAKES FELT MUSHY FOLLOWED BY COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. I WAS STOPPED IN THE INSIDE LANE OF A 4-LANE HWY AT AN INTERSECTION WITHOUT POWER!. AFTER A MOMENT OF PANIC....THANK HEAVENS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC BEHIND ME....I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. I TRAVELED TWO BLOCKS TO WHERE I COULD SAFELY EXIT THE HWY AND PARK. AFTER A FEW MINUTES WHILE I CALMED DOWN I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO MY HOME. SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE TRIED TO GET THE VEHICLE IN FOR A CHECK BUT CANNOT GET AN APPOINTMENT UNTIL AUGUST. IT HAS BEEN A FEW DAYS AND I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO USE THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NOTED SOME MISSING AND HESITATING FROM TIME TO TIME BUT NOT COMPLETE FAILURE. HOWEVER, I WOULD NOT TAKE THIS VEHICLE ON AN OPEN HWY AS IT IS PERFORMING RIGHT NOW. *TR

THE IGNITION HAD TO BE TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION AND BACK TO THE ON POSITION IN ORDER FOR THE LIGHTS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE DIAGNOSIS WAS UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. AT ANY SPEED, ANYTIME, COLD OR HOT, THE VEHICLE WILL PRODUCE A MESSAGE ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INFORMATION CENTER STATING " TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP ". THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE MECHANIC TWO TIMES ALREADY AND CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THIS MESSAGE WILL DISPLAY ON A COOL MORNING UPON START UP OR AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR SOME TIME. THE MESSAGE WILL NOT STAY ON LONGER THAN A FEW MINUTES, THEN WILL TURN OFF. A TON OF RESEARCH HAS BEEN DONE AND NO ONE HAS THE ANSWER YET. THE ONLY THING I CAME ACROSS WAS TO REPLACE THE PCM/ECM, SOMEONE STATED THERE WAS A GLITCH WITH THE COMPUTER. MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS RECURRING PROBLEM AND IT CAN'T BE FIXED YET. *TR
I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER FOR MY JEEP COMMANDER STATING THAT I MAY EXPERIENCE AN UNINTENDED CHANGE IN IGNITION SWITCH POSITION WHILE DRIVING, WHICH COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, POWER STEERING, AND BRAKING, AND INCREASES MY RISK OF A CRASH. I HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER GROUP RECALL CENTER 1-800-853-1403, OPTION 6 COUNTLESS TIMES, UNFORTUNATELY MANY TIMES HAVING TO HANG UP AFTER WAITING 25 MINUTES TO GET THROUGH. I HAVE ALSO REPEATEDLY CALLED BEYER/JEEP/CHRYSLER 973-644-3200 AND THEY HAVE BEEN VERY SHORT WITH ME AND TELL ME THE SAME THING EVERY TIME I CALL- THEY HAVE NO DATE OF WHEN THE PART WILL BE IN. WHEN I DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY, I AM TERRIFIED OF LOSING CONTROL OF MY CAR. I HAVE SEEN ON THE NEWS PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN IN ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS IGNITION SWITCH AND HEARD THAT CHRYSLER HAS A BUYOUT PROGRAM.
