THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES HAVE ALL, BUT ONE SHATTERED. THE LAST INCIDENT, CAUSING A DEEP CUT TO A 10 YEAR OLD CHILD'S HAND. THIS IS THE THIRD HANDLE TO BREAK. THE RISK OF INJURY TO MY FAMILY, DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE AFTER AN ACCIDENT HAS SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. *TR
WE STARTED THE VEHICLE AND AS WE STARTED TO ACCELERATE THE LIGHTS IN THE DASHBOARD AND STEREO STARTED TO FLICKER AND AS WE WENT DOWN THE ROAD FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES IT KEPT DOING IT NOT SURE IF THE MAIN FRONT LIGHTS TURNED OFF ALSO BECAUSE IT WAS DAYTIME BUT NOW I'M SCARED OF DRIVING MY VEHICLE AT NIGHT TIME. *TR
OFTEN MY WHOLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WILL FLASH ON AND OFF AND HAS SINCE JAN 2009. THREE TIMES SINCE MARCH OF LAST YEAR VEHICLE HAS TURNED ITS SELF OFF WHILE DRIVING (COMPLETE STEERING LOSS), FORTUNATELY AT LOW SPEED. ALSO, IN 2010 ( I HAVE REPAIR RECEIPT) MY TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WENT OUT. I HAD TO PAY A $200 COPAY PER REQUEST OF JEEP TO HAVE IT REPLACED, AFTER MUCH ARGUMENT. THEY SAID MY PARTICULAR 2006 JEEP COMMANDER WASN'T PART OF THE RECALL, AS WAS ALL OTHER FAILING PARTS INCLUDED ON 2006 COMMANDER RECALLS, EXCEPTING IGNITION. STILL WAITING ON IGNITION FIX, ITS BEEN A YEAR.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER 4X2. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REMEDY WAS STILL NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE DELAY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL THE LIGHTING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD SPORADICALLY ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ONCE BY THE DEALER AND THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED FIVE YEARS LATER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE COMMANDER AT VARIOUS SPEEDS EVERYTHING SUDDENLY TURNS OFF. ACCELERATION IS IMMEDIATELY DECREASED AND ALL DASHBOARD FUNCTIONS ARE GONE. I HAVE TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND RE-START THE ENGINE, ALL WHILE STILL DRIVING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 2 MONTHS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

IN ADDITION, THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILED TO TURN IN ORDER TO START THE VEHICLE. UPON CHANGING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR, THE RPMS REVVED AND FORCE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GET THE VEHICLE TO CHANGE GEARS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT HAD BEEN OVER A YEAR THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. BOUGHT CAR USED AT A DEALERSHIP, BUT WAS NOT TOLD OF RECALLS OR ISSUES. CAR STALLED ON ME TWICE, ONCE IN TRAFFIC APPROACHING A LIGHT AND ANOTHER IN A PARKING LOT TURNING LEFT TO WEAVE OUT OF LOT. THE 4 WHEEL LOW WAS RECALLED AND CHECKED, BUT PROBLEM PERSIST. THE ENGINE HESITATES WHILE DRIVING, LITTLE STUMBLES AND SHAKES WHILE ACCELERATING. WHILE IN PARK, WEIRD SOUND IS HEARD FROM LIGHT REV. I HAVE HAD CAR FOR LESS THAN 3 DAYS AND PROBLEMS OCCURRED. I HAVE A 2 TON PAPER WEIGHT AT THE MOMENT AS I FEEL IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I NOW HAVE A DECENT SIZE TRANSMISSION LEAK AFTER I PARK FROM SHORT DRIVES. I HAVE BUT MAYBE 250 MILES ON IT. I HAVE HEARD OF THE 4.7 HAVING SOME OF THESE ISSUES AND A RECALL HAS BEEN DONE, BUT NOT FOR THE 5.7L HEMI'S. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON SIMILAR ISSUES OF EXACT ENGINE MODEL OF COMMANDER, BUT RECALLS FOR IT AREN'T AVAILABLE AND ONLY SUCH FOR THE 4.7L VERSION. *TR
UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE HEARD TO BE WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A LOUD EXHAUST LEAK UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE. WHILE DRIVING THE NOISE SEEMED TO LESSEN / GO AWAY. UPON DOING RESEARCH MANY REPORTS THAT IF YOU HEAR AN "EXHAUST LEAK" UPON START UP THEN FADE AWAY, IT COULD BE A POSSIBILITY THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS HAVE BROKEN. I TOOK IT UPON MYSELF TO LOOK UNDER THE HOOD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS COLD, AND LOW AND BEHOLD THE BOLT THAT GOES THROUGH THE HEAT SHIELD AND MANIFOLD AND INTO THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED IN TWO PIECES SEPARATING THE MANIFOLD FROM THE BLOCK. I CALL MY MECHANIC, HE SAID BRING IT DOWN RIGHT AWAY, HE LOOKED AT IT AND SAW THAT THERE WAS 2 BOLTS BROKEN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. AGAIN MANY COMPLAINTS FROM CUSTOMERS ONLINE ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM, AND THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THIS ISSUE IS TO LIFT THE ENGINE OUT OF THE VEHICLE TO DRILL OUT THE BROKEN BOLTS THAT ARE STUCK IN THE BLOCK. NOW. MY MECHANIC TRIES EVERYTHING ALL SORTS OF ANGLE TOOLS, OTHER TOOLS AND CANT REMOVE THE BOLTS, SO THE ONLY THING LEFT TO DO IS LIFT THE ENGINE. I HAVE THE ENGINE LIFTED AND FIND THAT THERE WERE MORE BOLTS BROKEN ON THE DRIVER SIDE AS WELL. I GO TO THE DEALER AND BUY ALL NEW "UPGRADED BOLTS" ( AS THE DEALER SPECIFIED) FOR THIS ALONG WITH GASKETS, REAR MAIN SEAL, FAN CLUTCH, OIL PAN GASKET ETC. I EXPLAIN TO THE DEALER THE PROBLEM AND THEY ADMIT TO THE PROBLEM BUT THERE'S NO RECALL ON THE 4.7L ONLY ON THE HEMI FOR THE BROKEN MANIFOLD BOLTS. I ASK WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER REPLIED " THE MANUFACTURER INSTALLED THE WRONG GRADE BOLTS FROM THE MANIFOLD TO THE BLOCK." NOW I'M OUT ALMOST $3500 FOR PARTS AND LABOR FOR A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT HASN'T BEEN RECALLED, THIS IS SOMETHING CHRYSLER/JEEP SHOULD BE ON TOP OF CONSIDERING THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE. THIS IS MY SECOND JEEP, AND I'M NOT SURE I'D PURCHASE ANOTHER ONE. *TR
WAS DRIVING DOWN ROAD AND LOST POWER, CAR STALLED. THIS HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 3 TIMES WITH YESTERDAY BEING THE 3RD EVENT AND I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 55 MPH WITH THE LAST INCIDENT. *TR

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING ILLUMINATED AND THE RPMS AND SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO ZERO; HOWEVER, THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. THE CONTACT JIGGLED THE KEY AND EVERYTHING RETURNED BACK TO NORMAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WERE UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 55-60 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION AUTOMATICALLY SWITCHED INTO THE NEUTRAL POSITION. AT TIMES, ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, INCLUDING THE PARK, DRIVE, NEUTRAL, AND REVERSE IDENTIFICATION LIGHTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT DID NOT GO BACK INTO THE DRIVE POSITION RIGHT AWAY. THE VEHICLE HAD TO REMAIN PARKED FOR A WHILE BEFORE ANY CHANGES IN THE SHIFTING COULD BE PERFORMED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE 2/15/14 THREE WEEKS LATER WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THE GAUGES JUST CAME ON AND KEPT FLASHING IT CONTINUED FOR THE DURATION OF MY DRIVE. ONCE I GOT TO WORK AND PUT IT IN PARK AND TURN IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT NOTHING HAPPENED. SO 8.5 TO 9 HRS LATER BACK ON THE HIGHWAY IT DOES IT AGAIN THIS TIME JUST FLASHED 3 TIMES. IT WAS TAKING TO A SHOP PER FINANCE COMPANY TO WHICH THE MECHANIC KEPT FOR ALMOST 2 WEEKS. THE MECHANIC STATED HE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. HE NEEDED TO SEE IT HAPPEN. SO I TOOK IT BACK HOME THE FIRST WEEK NOTHING HAPPENED. SECOND WEEK NOTHING THAT THIRD WEEK IT HAPPENED AGAIN THIS TIME WHILE ON HIGHWAY ON THE WAY TO WORK MY SPEED DROPPED FROM 60 TO 5 IN LESS THAN A SECOND. I PULLED OVER AND SAT FOR 2 TO 3 MINUTES AN PROCEEDED ON WITH MY CELL PHONE READY TO SNAP A PICTURE IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND LOW AND BE HOLD IT DOES IT AGAIN AND THIS TIME IT WAS CONTINUES UNTIL I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN IT WAS TAKEN TO THE SHOP WITH THE PROOF HE NEEDED AND AGAIN HE STATED HE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG SO HE TOOK IT TO JEEP CHRYSLER AND HAD THEM RESET EVERYTHING AND GAVE IT BACK TO ME. FOR THE NEXT MONTH NOTHING HAPPENED. BUT THE FOLLOWING MONTH ONCE AGAIN THE PROBLEM STARTS AGAIN. BUT THIS TIME IT COMPLETELY KNOCKED OUT MY RADIO. THE FINANCE COMPANY WANT HELP AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. TODAY IS THE 25TH OF JULY BUT TWO OR THREE DAYS AGO THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2006-2007 JEEP COMMANDERS FOR FAULTY IGNITION SWITCHES. I REALLY DO NOT FEEL SAFE FOR ME OR MY KIDS IN THIS VEHICLE BUT NOONE SEEMS TO CARE. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT I TRULY HOPE YOU DO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ASCENDING AN INCLINE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION POWER AND FIRE EMITTED FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS WERE CALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REBUILT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE CONTACT WAS THEN UNABLE TO SHIFT TO DRIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
I PURCHASED MY JEEP COMMANDER ON FEBRUARY 12, 2014. A WEEK AFTER I PURCHASED IT MY CHECK LIGHT CAME ON SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT WAS FOR MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE PEOPLE IN THE GARAGE STATED IT WAS JUST A SENSOR AND NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT I TOLD THEM TO FIX IT WHILE IT WAS STILL COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. THEY WOULDN'T. THE NEXT DAY ALL OF THE DOME LIGHTS AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS IN MY TRUCK STARTED FLICKERING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. (STILL DOES IT TO THIS DAY). SOON AFTER MY BRAKES WENT OUT ON ME WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH MY KIDS SO I HAD TO GET THE CALIPERS AND EVERYTHING CHANGED. NEXT IT WAS THE WINDOWS THEY ALL STOPPED WORKING. THE END OF JANUARY 2015, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AGAIN WITH MY CHILDREN, ALL OF THE LUG NUTS AND BOLTS FELL OFF OF MY TIRE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. I ENDED UP CALLING THE TOW TRUCK AND TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT. $2500 AND TWO WEEKS LATER I GET MY TRUCK BACK, HAVE IT FOR A DAY & IT STARTS JERKING ON MY WAY TO WORK. THEY FIXED EVERYTHING THAT HAD TO DO WITH MY TIRES AND SUSPENSION. THEY ALSO INFORM ME I NEED MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER CHANGED AFTER THEY TOLD ME NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT IT'S JUST THE SENSOR ACTING FUNNY. (IT COULD'VE BEEN FIXED WHEN I ASKED THEM TO DO IT WHILE IT WAS COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY) NOW MY LIGHTS START FLASHING MY WHEEL SPEED SENSORS AREN'T WORKING AND IS MESSING WITH MY ABS SYSTEM AND TRACTION. THEY JUST TELL ME TO SHUT THE TRACTION OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING IT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. I END UP TAKING IT BACK IN THE SHOP. A MONTH LATER I'M DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND MY SERPENTINE BELT BUSTS AND I LOSE CONTROL OF MY TRUCK. ANOTHER $500 DOLLAR JOB. PRESENT DAY, MY TRUCK IS BACK IN THE SHOP FOR A ROUTINE BRAKES AND ROTORS FIX AND THEY CALL AND SAY I NEED MY OUTER TIRODS FIXED AND REAR AXLE SOMETHING. I'VE PUT MORE MONEY INTO THIS TRUCK THAN I'VE PAID FOR IT IN THE PAST YEAR.
PURCHASED 4 NEW TIRES ON 12/29/2010, MILEAGE WAS 41015. NOW MILEAGE IS NOW 77061, TIRE TREAD IS AT .3/32. TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED EVERY 5 - 6 K AND ALIGNMENTS PERFORMED. ALL TIRES ARE WEARING UNEVENLY, THERE ARE SIGNS OF CRACKING AND STOPPING IN THE SNOW IS NOW A MAJOR HAZARD. THE WARRANTY IS FOR 60K AND WITH ONLY 35K THEY ARE READY FOR THE TRASH. *TR
06 COMMANDER. STARTED UP VEHICLE AND LET IT WARM UP , PUT IT IN DRIVE AND NOTHING, TRIED REVERSE, STILL NOTHING, IT HAS JUST AROUND 115000MI ON IT. STARTED MY ONLINE RESEARCH AND FOUND THERE IS MORE ISSUES . I'VE HAD IT STALL TWICE AT A STOP LIGHT. IDLE FLUCTUATES AT TIMES AT STOP LIGHT. AND DELAY WHEN PUTTING CAR IN DRIVE ON OCCASION. THESE ARE THE ONLY ISSUES I'VE HAD , BESIDES BROKEN EXHAUST STUDS.AND NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR PARTS. ALL TRANNY FLUIDS AND FILTER WERE CHANGED AT 65000 MI ALONG WITH DIFF FLUIDS AND TRANSFER CASE FLUIDS. ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY JEEP UP UNTIL THESE ISSUES. WE'LL SEE WHAT MY MECHANIC MAKES OF ALL OF THIS SOON . I PREY IT'S NOTHING TO MAJOR. *TR

NOT TO MENTION THAT IT CAN'T BE GOOD FOR THE ELECTRONICS THAT RUN AROUND THE BASE OF THE CAR. CONSIDERING THAT THEY HAVE A REPAIR SHEET ON IT. I FEEL LIKE THEY SHOULDN'T CHARGE THEIR CUSTOMERS TO REPAIR ANYTHING. 2. DOOR HANDLES. ALL OF THE DOOR HANDLES OF THE VEHICLE ARE BROKEN EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE WHICH CLEARLY HAS A AFTERMARKET FIX ON IT. THE CHEAP PLASTIC USED TO MOUNT THEM HAS CRACKED AND NOW THE DOOR HANDLES JUST HANG. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IT POTENTIALLY COULD TRAP PEOPLE IN THE CAR. ENGINE IDLES WHEN STOPPED AND SOMETIMES THE JEEP LUNGES FORWARD. LIGHTS ON DASH COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. TIRES KEEP NEEDING REPLACED EVEN WHEN GETTING THE JEEP CONTINUALLY BALANCED AND ROTATED. THEY WEAR DOWN ON THE OUTER RIM OF FRONT TIRES ONLY. HAVE TO KEEP GETTING NEW BATTERIES BECAUSE VEHICLE KEEPS DYING. I HAVE 2006 JEEP COMMANDER IN WHICH I AM EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH ON MY VEHICLE. THE DEFECTIVE IGNITION SWITCH CAUSES EVERY LIGHT ON MY DASHBOARD TO ILLUMINATE AND IT CAUSES MY VEHICLE TO STALL, AS WELL AS FLICKERING LIGHTS WITH NO POWER TO FUEL GAUGES, MPH, AND RPM NEEDLES. OCCASIONALLY THERE ARE CLICKS THAT COME FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS STARTED, WHICH SIGNIFIES THAT THE DEFECTIVE IGNITION SWITCH IS GOING TO FAIL SOON. WHEN I WENT TO USE THE 4WD, IT WOULD NOT ACTIVATE SO I BROUGHT IT IN FOR SERVICE AND I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE UPDATE. ON NOV. 7TH 2013 AND THEY DID THE SERVICE, BUT EVER SINCE THEY "FIXED" THE RECALL MY CAR HAS NOW BEEN SAYING ?SERVICE 4WD? AND NOT SHIFTING INTO 4WD.
