THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THERE WASN'T ANY JERKING FEELING IT SIMPLY SHUT OFF. WE HAD STARTED TO SLOW FOR AN UPCOMING TRAFFIC LIGHT. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE FIRST TIME WE WERE BACKING UP INTO THE ROAD AND IT STALLED. *TR
I WAS IN VEHICLE GETTING INTO CAR, CARE WAS ON ALREADY, AND THE GEAR JUMPED FROM PARK TO REVERSE SINCE I STILL HAD DOOR OPEN I FELL FROM CARE WHILE VEHICLE CONTINUED IN REVERSE FROM GARAGE TILL IT CRASHED INTO FIRE HYDRANT, RECALL WAS JUST RECEIVED A MONTH AGO IN REGARDS......( A TRANSFER CASE ELECTRICAL FAILURE MAY RESULT IN AN UNINTENTIONAL SHIFTING OF THE TRANSFER CASE INTO THE NEUTRAL POSITION,IN THIS CASE IT WAS IN PARK AND JUMPED TO REVERSE CAUSING THE ACCIDENT AND INJURY TO ME AS I FELL OUT OF THE CAR. *TR
JEEP COMMANDER STALLS AT DRIVING SPEEDS IN WHICH HAS ALMOST CAUSED 3 VEHICLE ACCIDENTS, BAS ESP AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT IS ON AND MALFUNCTIONED, ALL WHEEL DRIVE MALFUNCTION. DEALER CLAIMS INTERNAL FAULT IN FRONT CONTROL MODULE. *TR
I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN AND THE CAR SHUT OFF COULDN'T GET IT STARTED HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND HAD TO HAVE IGNITION SWITCH AND ASSY. REPLACED. *TR
VEHICLE IS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER 4X4 LIMITED WITH THE 4.7L ENGINE. VEHICLE HAS SUDDENLY STALLED 4 TIMES WHILE DRIVING IN THE LAST 6-8 WEEKS. VEHICLE STALLED WHILE BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE, DRIVING 15-20 MPH ON A CITY STREET, WHILE IDLING AT A STOP SIGN, AND WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT. THESE ARE THE FIRST OCCURRENCES IN THE 4 YEARS WE HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE GEAR SHIFTED INTO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE INDEPENDENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FINAL DRIVE CONTROLLER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER ALONG WITH MANY OTHER OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING CRACKING OF THE INTERIOR DOOR PANEL WHICH HOUSES THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES. THIS RESULTS IN THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE BREAKING OFF, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE FROM THE INSIDE. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND JEEP IS TOTALLY NOT DOING THE RIGHT THING. THEIR SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE DOOR PANEL AT A COST OF AROUND $750 PER DOOR. THE PLASTIC USED AROUND THE DOOR HANDLE IS VERY THIN AND OBVIOUSLY A POOR DESIGN. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *TR
THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE HOUSINGS ON ALL 4 DOORS ARE BROKEN. AS A RESULT, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO OPEN THE DOOR HANDLES FROM THE INSIDE. IN ORDER TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, ONE MUST USE THE EXTERIOR HANDLES. JEEP INDICATED REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE INTERIOR DOOR PANEL IS REQUIRED TO FIX AT A COST OF $800 PER PANEL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE PREVENTING QUICK EGRESS FROM THE VEHICLE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT AND IS A COMMON, KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES. WHEN THE DRIVER DOOR HANDLE HOUSING BROKE, THE SHARP PLASTIC CUT MY HAND, CAUSING IT TO BLEED. SUBSEQUENTLY, I HAVE CUT MY HAND AGAIN MORE THAN ONCE ON THE SHARP, BROKEN PLASTIC DOOR HANDLE HOUSING. *TR
JEEP COMMANDERS SHARE A FAULTY INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY PROBLEM. THE SHAPE OF THE HANDLE MAY BE DIFFERENT IN EACH MODEL, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE INCORRECT RESIN MIX WHICH RESULTS IN A BRITTLE AND CRUMBLING MATERIAL CAUSING FAILURE JUST THE SAME. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER?S DEFECT, HOWEVER IT?S A FAULT THAT IS NOT COVERED UNDER JEEP?S WARRANTY. THERE?S NO RECALL OR SERVICE BULLETIN. UNTIL RECENTLY, THE ONLY FIX WAS REPLACING THE ENTIRE DOOR PANELS. CHRYSLER DESIGNED THE INTERIOR DOOR PANELS ON THE JEEP COMMANDER IN SUCH A WAY THAT THE ENTIRE DOOR PANEL HAD TO BE REPLACED RATHER THAN JUST THE DOOR HANDLE. THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE IS PLASTIC WELDED AT CERTAIN POINTS FROM THE BACKSIDE OF THE DOOR PANEL. *TR
MY JEEP STALLED AS I ACCELLERATED ON THE ON RAMP OF A MAJOR INTERSTATE. I COASTED TO THE SHOULDER AND TRIED TO RESTART AND WOULD NOT RESTART UNTIL I SHUT IT COMPLETELY OFF AND RESTARTED. IT RAN WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND THE CRUISE CONTROL INOPERTABLE. IDLE WAS ROUGH AT LOW AND HIGHER RPM'S. AFTER ABOUT SIX RESTARTS THROUGHOUT THE DAY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OUT BUT THE CRUISE CONTROL IS STILL INOPERTABLE. ONE WEEK LATER IT STALLED AT IDLE DURING COLD WEATHER WARM UP WITH THE SAME RESULTS FOLLOWING AS BEFORE. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED FROM A DEALER LESS THAN A WEEK PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT WITH 84,879 MI. A BACKGROUND CHECK THROUGH AUTOCHECK WAS CONDUCTED PRIOR TO PURCHASE WITH NO MAJOR FINDING REPORTED ON THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE. FROM INVESTIGATIONS THROUGH MULTIBLE WEBSITES, THIS ISSUE IS COMMON WITH THIS VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL YEARS. I HAVE CHECK THE RECALL REPORTS BY VIN # AND THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT FALL IN THE PRODUCTION CATAGORY OF MANUFACTURE RECALL BUT HAS THE EXACT SAME SYMTOMS FOR A RECALL. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN IF THE VEHICLE STALLS ON A RURAL HIGHWAY WITH NO SHOULDER TO SAFELY PULLOVER. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE GAUGES FAILED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) WAS RECEIVED IN JULY 2014. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE PCM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 08V203000 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
2006 JEEP COMMANDER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO REPROGRAM FINAL DRIVE CONTROLLER MODULE RECALL NOTICE AND SEEKS REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AT THE BOTTOM OF A HILL AND WOULD NOT MOVE OUT OF NEUTRAL. SHE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHO INFORMED HER THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSFER CASE AND RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE WAS UNAWARE OF THE FINAL DRIVE CONTROLLER MODULE SOFTWARE ISSUE AT THE TIME. THE RECALL NOTICE WAS ISSUED IN MAY 2013, BUT SHE WASN'T NOTIFIED UNTIL SEPTEMBER. THE CONSUMER SUBMITTED THE DOCUMENTS ALONG WITH THE CONTACT INFORMATION FROM THE REPAIR SHOP, ONLY TO BE TOLD SHE WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR REIMBURSEMENT, BECAUSE IT WAS NOT THE SAME ISSUE AS THE RECALL DESCRIBED. SHE ASKED FOR CLARIFICATION ON THE FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO THAT DETERMINATION AND WAS INFORMED THE REPAIR SHOP COULD NOT VERIFY THE ISSUE CAUSED BY THE DRIVE CONTROLLER MODULE.
WOULD DRIVING LIKE 25 MPH THE CAR STOPS AND ENGINE SHOT OFF ALSO LIGHT COMING ON THE INSIDE AND THE AIR CONDITIONED IT DOES T WORK LOW YOU HAVE TO PUT IT ALWAYS UNTIL HIGH THE WAY IT CAN START WORKING ALSO PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE MAKING A NOISE LIKE RCRCCRCRCRCRCRCCRC LIKE THE MANIFOLD OR EXHAUST PROBLEMS THIS CAR IS SOOO WEIRD I ALREADY TOOK IT TO THE PRIVATE MECHANIC AND THEY CAN T DO ANYTHING CAUSE THE MANUFACTURED PROBLEMS. *TR
THE ENGINE STALLS AND THE HEAD LIGHTS FAIL WHILE MY SON IS DRIVING THE CAR. WE HAVE GOTTEN SEVERAL RECALL NOTICES. THE LATEST TELLS US THE PARTS ARE IN AND GO TO THE LOCAL DEALER. NO. THEY DON'T HAVE THE PART. WE ARE FRUSTRATED AND DEMAND WE GET THE IGNITION SWITCH AND LOCK CYLINDER REPLACED. DO YOUR PART DODGER CHRYSTAL JEEP.
SINCE DECEMBER 2012,I NOW HAVE 2 DEFECTIVE {BROKEN} INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES, BOTH REAR PASSENGER & NOW DRIVER!! I DO CHILDCARE AND IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO TRANSPORT CHILDREN TO & FROM SCHOOL. WHEN I REALIZED THE FIRST HANDLE WAS BROKEN,IT WAS WHEN I WAS TAKING THE CHILDREN TO SCHOOL.THE LITTLE GIRL GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK, WENT TO SHUT THE DOOR AND IT BOUNCED BACK AT HER.I PULLED OVER THINKING THE SEATBELT WAS IN THE WAY.HERE IS WAS THE DOOR HANDLE FROM THE INSIDE,BROKEN, NOT EVEN ALLOWING THE DOOR TO SHUT!I HAD TO RIG THE HANDLE SO THAT IT WOULD CLOSE THE DOOR! ON 3/26/13 MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING & HEARD A NOISE,HE LOOKED DOWN AND THE DRIVER SIDE BROKE! NOT EVEN BEING TOUCHED. TO GET OUT, I HAVE TO PUT THE WINDOW DOWN,REACH OUT & OPEN BY THE EXTERIOR HANDLE. PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW THIS IS SAFE!?!?!... IF MY CAR WERE TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT AND GOD FORBID THE ELECTRIC DIDN'T WORK, HOW THE HELL AM I GETTING OUT. OR MY PASSENGERS!!! THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
THE DOOR HANDLES BEGAN TO FALL APART CREATING A HAZARD. SOME OF THE DOORS DO NOT OPEN JUST THE DRIVERS FOR NOW. I HAVE LOOKED ON FORUMS AND NOTICED THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME MODEL. IN ADDITION, THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW ROLLS UP AND DOWN ON OCCASION AND GETS STUCK. *TR
THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE BECAME INOPERABLE DUE TO THE BREAKAGE OF THE DOOR PANEL. ALL OF THE PANELS HAVE CRACKED AND SOME OF THE PLASTIC HAS FALLEN INTO THE DOOR CAVITY. THE DOOR HANDLES ARE LOOSE AND NOW THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE IS COMPLETELY INOPERABLE. IN A CASE OF ANY EMERGENCY THAT REQUIRED EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE PASSENGER IN THIS SEAT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT. I SUSPECT THAT ALL THE DOORS WILL EVENTUALLY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. SOMEONE NEEDS TO HOLD CHRYSLER ACCOUNTABLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE ENTIRE CLUSTER OF INSTRUMENT WARNING LIGHTS BEGINS TO FLASH INTERMITTENTLY, CREATING A DISTRACTION AND SAFETY HAZARD WHILE DRIVING. IN ADDITION, THE FUEL GAUGE DROPS TO "E", THE SPEEDOMETER DROPS TO ZERO AND THEN GOES UP AND DOWN AND ALL GAUGES GO UP AND DOWN ERRATICALLY. ALSO, THE HEATED SEATS TURN OFF AS DOES THE FAN FOR THE HEATER/AC UNIT. VERIFIED WITH LOCAL MECHANIC THAT THIS IS NOT RELATED TO THE IGNITION SWITCH AND IS MOST LIKELY AN ECM AND/OR PCM ISSUE. REPLACED BATTERY BUT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. ENGINE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON FOR SEVERAL CYCLES, COMPUTER REBOOTS ITSELF AND THEN THE TROUBLE STARTS AGAIN SHORTLY AFTER. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE 06 COMMANDER BUT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE ECM/PCM RECALL (08V203000) BECAUSE I HAVE THE 6-CYLINDER RATHER THAN THE 8 CYLINDER ENGINE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD WHILE DRIVING AND I JUST FEEL FORTUNATE THAT AS OF YET, MY CAR IS NOT STALLING LIKE SO MANY OTHERS. HOWEVER, I FEEL MY ISSUE IS RELATED TO THIS SAME RECALL AND WANT TO HAVE IT ON FILE. *TR
MY CAR WAS TURNING OFF WHEN DRIVING. I HAD THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED AND PAID FOR IT. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN SEPTEMBER 2014 THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS RECALLED. I SENT IN MY RECEIPT AND PAPERWORK FROM THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP THAT FIXED MY JEEP ON 9/22/2014. IT SAYS YOU WILL BE REIMBURSED WITHIN 60 DAYS. THEY RECEIVED MY RECEIPT AND TOLD ME THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. I SAID IT DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE MY JEEP WAS FIXED ON 11/15/2012. IT HAS BEEN OVER 6 MONTHS AND I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY $108.30 REFUND. THIS PART IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND IT HAS BEEN OVER 6 MONTHS, SINCE MY CAR WAS REPAIRED AND I PROVED IT WITH MY RECEIPT I WANT MY MONEY REFUNDED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT ALL DOOR PANELS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 52,000. *TR
THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY LOSE POWER TO THE HEADLIGHTS, TAILLIGHTS, INSTRUMENT PANEL, SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER, AND THE INTERIOR SOME LIGHTS WILL TURN THEMSELVES ON WITHOUT CAUSE OR WARNING. IN THE MOST RECENT EVENT, VEHICULAR DAMAGE AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY NEARLY OCCURRED WHEN DRIVING IN THE DARK, ALMOST STRIKING A UTILITY POLE. ALSO, THE AUTOMATIC WINDOW CONTROL WILL NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY WHEN TRYING TO ROLL UP THE WINDOW ITSELF. IT WILL STOP HALFWAY AND BRING ITSELF BACK DOWN. IT USUALLY TAKES 3-4 TIMES TO ROLL THE WINDOW UP. THIS HAS OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES, SO MANY THAT I CAN'T KEEP TRACK. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP CANNOT PINPOINT THE ISSUE AND THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO BE ON THE ROAD. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENTIRE WARNING PANEL WAS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, ALL THE INTERNAL DOOR HANDLES FRACTURED. THE CONTACT HAD TO ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN IN ORDER TO OPEN THE DOORS FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR PANELS AND LATCHES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO HALL CHRYSLER JEEP AND DODGE DEALERSHIP TO GET AN OIL CHANGE DONE AND FOR THEM TO CHECK MY STARTER. WELL AFTER I PICKED IT UP THAT NIGHT I WAS DRIVING HOME MY TIRE SENSOR PRESSURE PISTONS ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER BACK SIDE OF THE CAR FIRST FELL OFF. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE CLOSED. AND I WENT IN TODAY TO THE DEALERSHIP LIKE THE MANAGER FROM THE DEALERSHIP SAID AND HE TOLD ME I HAD TO CALL A 1-800 NUMBER TO SUBMIT THE CLAIM THEY SAID THAT THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO REIMBURSE ME FOR IT. *TR

WHILE DRIVING 65-70 MPH ON A HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE LIGHTS AND ALL POWER SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. THE ONLY THING WORKING WAS THE RADIO. NO BRAKES, STEERING WAS DIFFERENT. THANKFULLY THIS TIME WAS ABLE TO PULL TO A SHOULDER AND COAST TO AN OFFRAMP. I COASTED TO A STOP, PUT IN PARK THEN TRIED TO START. THE VEHICLE STARTED AGAIN AND I DROVE STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 MILES AWAY. I EXPLAINED TO THE DEALER AND ALSO CALLED THE MAKER OF THE VEHICLES RECALL DEPT. THEY OPENED A CASE. AT THIS POINT NO ONE HAS ANY IDEA WHAT HAPPENED AND THE ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT. THEY CANNOT REPLICATE AND I HAVE NOT HAD MY CAR FOR 6 DAYS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO AND MOST PEOPLE BECOME A MIDDLE MAN BETWEEN THE DEALER, THE WARRANTY COMPANY, AND NO RESOLUTION IS EVER MADE. MANY BECAME FRUSTRATED AND SOLD AND CUT THEIR LOSSES. THEY CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND IT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MOVE MY CHILD'S CAR SEAT TO THE 2ND ROW DRIVER SIDE OUTBOARD, THE CAR SEAT IS UNABLE TO BE INSTALLED PROPERLY. OUR BRITAX MARATHON CAR SEAT CANNOT BE MOVED FROM THE CENTER POSITION TO AN OUTBOARD POSITION BECAUSE THE HEAD RESTS ON THE 2ND ROW SEAT TILT FORWARD AND CANNOT BE REMOVED. WITH TWO CHILDREN IN THE CAR I WILL BE FORCED TO MOVE MY OLDER CHILD TO A LESS STABLE AND LESS SAFE BACKLESS BOOSTER SEAT, SO THAT I CAN PUT MY SECOND CHILD IN THE INFANT SEAT IN THE CENTER POSITION.
