TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY ONCE THE VEHICLE I SHUT OFF. THE CONTACTWAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS FAILURE HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 24,000.*AK
VEHICLE ENGINE STALLS WHILE IN OPERATION, CAUSING POWER ASSISTED SYSTEM FAILURE (IE BRAKES AND STEERING). *NM
2006 JEEP COMMANDER 4.7 V8 STALLED IN TRAFFIC DURING NORMAL USAGE. WHILE SLOWING THE COMMANDER FOR A STOP THE ENGINE CUT OUT AND ALL POWER EQUIPMENT WAS DISABLED. IE. POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKING, ETC... THIS HAPPENED TWICE AND IS VERY UNSAFE. *JB
"06" JEEP COMMANDER WITH UNDER 5K MILES WILL "SHUT DOWN" WHILE I AM DRIVING. IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE SPEED RELATED. THE LIGHTS WILL SHUT OFF AS WILL THE ENGINE, POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES, AS WELL AS ALL AUXILIARY EQUIPMENT (RADIO AND SUCH). IT IS PRESENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SECOND TIME AS THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DEFINE THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM UPON INITIAL INSPECTION. *NM
2006 JEEP COMMANDER STALLS AT LOW SPEEDS. THIS INCLUDES PULLING OUT INTO BUSY INTERSECTIONS AND OTHER TRAFFIC AREAS. THE CAR JUST STOPS PRODUCING POWER AND SHUTS OFF. IT RESTARTS JUST FINE. *NM
VEHICLE STALLS AT ALL SPEEDS, WHETHER SLOWING OR ACCELERATING. VEHICLE HAS STALLED AT LEAST 8 TIMES IN LAST SEVERAL MONTHS. ONE TIME, I WAS DRIVING MORE THAN 60 MPH ON AN HIGHWAY. WHEN TAKEN IN FOR REPAIR, JEEP CLAIMS THEY CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM ALTHOUGH THEY ADMIT OTHER COMMANDER OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. *NM
RE: PE07-009 -- 2006 JEEP COMMANDER 4.7L V8 -- AUTOMATIC STALLED EVERY TIME BACKED OUT OF GARAGE AND ON OTHER SLIGHT INCLINES AT SLOW SPEEDS. HAD THE CAR FOR 6 DAYS ON A RENTAL FROM ENTERPRISE. INVESTIGATOR CHRIS LASH MAY WANT TO QUERY ENTERPRISE ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE OF THE COMMANDERS IN THEIR FLEET -- QUICK WAY TO CAPTURE FEEDBACK ON A LARGE NUMBER OF CARS. MOREOVER, ENTERPRISE SEEMS TO KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY ARE VERY WILLING TO SELL THESE CARS OUT OF THE FLEET PROGRAM WELL IN ADVANCE OF THE VEHICLE MEETING MINIMUM MILEAGE LIMITS USUALLY OBSERVED. WE WERE CONSIDERING BUYING A CAR FROM THEM UNTIL WE DISCOVERED ON THE WEB-BLOGS THAT MANY CUSTOMERS HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR STALLING INCIDENTS. *JB
ENGINE STALLING, NO START. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER 4X2. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE IDLING AND ALSO WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ACTIVATED AT 45 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 12,800 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
2006 JEEP COMMANDER.....DOOR HANDLES AND DOOR HANDLE ROSETTE HAVE FAILED ON THE DRIVERS DOOR AND THE REAR PASSENGERS DOOR. THE MATERIALS USED FOR THIS DOOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY HAVE FAILED DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE PLASTIC APPEARS TO BE VERY VERY THIN. THIS NOW POSES A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH EXITING THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT DOOR AND THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR. ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THE JEEP ON THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR...A SMALL HOLE (1/4") APPEARED IN THE CENTER OF THE PLASTIC DOOR HANDLE ROSETTE. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS WAS DUE TO ABUSE. NOW AFTER THREE YEARS I SEE THAT MANY MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. OH BY THE WAY MY 5 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER USED THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR ONE DAY, AFTER WHICH WE FIRST NOTICED THE BROKEN DOOR HANDLE AND HANDLE ROSETTE THERE. I HAVE DUCT TAPE COVERING THE HOLE AND HOLDING THE DOOR HANDLE IN A POSITION THAT MAKES THE DOOR OPERABLE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT CHRYSLER JEEP NEEDS TO ADDRESS. FINAL INSULT. THE DEALER THAT I BOUGHT THE JEEP COMMANDER FROM WAS CLOSED BY CHRYSLER. *TR
2006 JEEP COMMANDER STALLS AT SPEEDS UNDER 10 MPH. TYPICALLY AT STOP SIGNS AND STOP LIGHTS, WHEN IT IS TIME TO GO. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED, NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE SERVICE DEALER WAS CONTACTED, BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM TO CORRECT THE ISSUE.

I PURCHASED A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER LAST YEAR. I HAVE HAD THE FOLLOWING ITEMS REPLACED ON MY JEEP FRONT PASSENGER INTERIOR DOOR PANEL. STRANGE NOISE COMING FROM MY CAR THAT SOUNDED LIKE PLAYING CARDS IN BIKE TIRES ENDED WITH REPLACING FRONT AXEL RING AND PINION. CAR KEPT POPPING OUT OF GEAR THE ENTIRE GEAR SHIFT WAS REPLACED. MY PASSENGER WINDOW HAD TO BE FIXED IT KEPT STICKING HALFWAY UP. I HAD A PROBLEM WHERE MY CAR KEPT STALLING. I WAS TOLD THE FIRST TIME THAT NO ERROR APPEARS ON THE COMPUTER AND JEEP KNEW OF NO ISSUE WITH CARS STALLING SO MAYBE IT WAS BAD GAS. IT DIED SEVERAL MORE TIMES AND FINALLY THEY DID REPLACE A PART INSIDE THE IDOL. I ALSO HAD AN ISSUE WHERE MY HEADLIGHTS KEPT TURNING OFF AS I DROVE OR WOULD FLASH ON AND OFF. THEY REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH. I HAVE HAD THE RUBBER STRIPPING FROM MY BACK DRIVER SIDE WINDOW COME OFF AND NOW IT IS OCCURRING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. FROM THE BEGINNING I HAVE TOLD THEM I DO NOT FEEL MY TRANSMISSION IS WORKING PROPERLY THAT IT SHIFTS HARD AND WHEN I SHIFT FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE THERE IS A BIG HESITATION. I HAVE BEEN TOLD NO ERROR IS APPEARING ON COMPUTER AND THAT JEEP AS USUAL HAS NO KNOWN ISSUES SO THEY HAD NO SUGGESTIONS. ONCE AGAIN THEY THOUGHT IT WAS A GAS ISSUE MOVING FROM WINTER TO SUMMER BLEND. THE LAST TIME I HAD IT IN WHEN IT WAS STALLING I TOLD THEM IT THE TRANSMISSION WAS STILL HESITATING AND WOULD MAKE A POP NOISE AT TIMES THEN IT WOULD GO. IT IS STILL OCCURRING AND AT TIMES THE CAR ACTS LIKE IT MIGHT NOT SHIFT INTO DRIVE. I AM SATISFIED WITH HOW MY DEALERSHIP IS WORKING WITH ME THEY ARE DOING THEIR BEST TO HELP ME. I BLAME JEEP/CHRYSLER ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SEARCH THE WEB TO SEE THAT THERE ARE SO MANY OTHERS JUST LIKE ME WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. THEY NEED TO RECALL THESE CARS NOW AND IF THEY CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM THEN REPLACE THEM FOR US. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE, IT BEGAN VIBRATING AND MAKING A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. ONCE IT FINALLY RESTARTED, ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS FAILED. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AUTOMATICALLY AND CRASHED INTO A POLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNINJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN AWAY FROM THE SCENE AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENTIRE COMPUTER SYSTEM FAILED, INCLUDING THE CLOCK, HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEM, SPEEDOMETER, AND ALL OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OF THE VEHICLE. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, THE EMISSIONS WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHY THE EMISSIONS INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THEY REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27,500.
WHEN AT OR BELOW FREEZING THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL NOT MAKE CONTACT W/THE WINDSHIELD IN CERTAIN AREAS. MEDVED CHRYSLER /JEEP REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD WIPER BLADES, WHICH ALREADY WAS REPLACED WITH 3 DIFFERENT TYPES PRIOR TO THEM, IT DID NOT CHANGE.*AK THEY THEN REPLACED THE R/F WIPER ARM, WITH NO CHANGE. I ASKED IF THE WINDSHIELD COULD BE THE PROBLEM, CHRYSLER WOULD NOT REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD. ELITE REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD @ NO CHARGE TO MEDVED OR ME. IT BECAME EVEN WORSE!!!! I HAVE SEEN OTHER COMMANDERS DRIVING TOWARDS ME W/THE SAME PROBLEMS IN THE SAME AREA OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE ZONE REP FOR CHRYSLER EVEN STATED "MINE DOES THE SAME THING." THE OBSTRUCTION OF VIEW DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER IS DANGEROUS!! CHRYSLER "CAN'T SEE ANY PHYSICAL DEFECT" SO IT IS NOT A PROBLEM. THE SERVICE MANAGER FOR THE CASTLE ROCK BRANCH OF MEDVED WAS ABLE TO SEE IT ALL HAPPEN FIRSTHAND. HE CALLED CHYRSLER,AND THEY BLEW HIM OFF AS W/THE THE FIRST TIME HE CALLED THEM W/ MY COMPLAINT. I HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER'S 1-800 NUMBER AND THEY WERE LESS THAN HELPFULL, SAID "IT IS UP TO THE DEALER YOU TOOK IT TO TO MAKE A DECISION. THEY HAVE DONE ALL THEY CAN; THIS IS A ENGENIRING OR WINDSHIELD MANUFACTURER DEFECT THAT IS DANGEROUS! THIS VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN @ OR BELOW FREEZING W/OUT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS LOOSING TOTAL CONTACT IN A CIRCLE PATTERN DIRECTLY IN THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS DIRECT LINE OF VISION IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, ONLY CHANGED BY PULLING OVER AND BLASTING THE WINDSHIELD W/FULL HEAT AND FULL DEFROST WITH THE WIPERS ON MEDIUM/HIGH UNTIL THE CIRCLES ARE GONE. ONCE DRIVEN AGAIN THE CIRCLES START SMALL AND BECOME LARGER THE MORE YOU DRIVE IT EVEN W/FULL HEAT AND DEFROST!! THE DEFROSTER AIR FLOW SEEMS GOOD IN THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIEDL BUT LOWER AS IT GOES OUT TO EITHER SIDE.
ENGINE STALL FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 2 MONTHS. OCCURS WHEN TURNING. ENGINE JUST QUITS BUT RESTARTS UPON RE-IGNITION. FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY WHILE MANEUVERING AROUND A STALLED VEHICLE. SCARED ME TO MY WITS END AS CARS ZIPPED BY ME. SECOND INCIDENT TODAY WAS WHEN TURNING TO THE STREET FROM PARKING. LUCKILY NO TRAFFIC. VERY DANGEROUS. PLANNING TO BRING TO DEALER WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS. JEEPFORUM.COM LISTS SIMILAR INCIDENTS. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. IT WAS MANEUVERED OFF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY EACH TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. UPDATED 11/30/2006 - *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY STALLS. AFTER BEING PARKED FOR A FEW HOURS, THE VEHICLE STARTS BUT THEN SHUTS OFF WHEN THE CONTACT COMES TO A STOP. ON ONE OCCASION, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND FAILED TO RESTART FOR FIFTEEN MINUTES. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 21,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
PHYSICAL DETERIORATION AND DETACHMENT OF THE INNER DOOR HANDLE MECHANISMS ON 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THROUGH NORMAL WEAR, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE INNER DOOR HANDLE PHYSICALLY FAILED FULLY. THROUGH NORMAL WEAR THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE INNER DOOR HANDLE HAS STARTED TO FAIL BEGINNING WITH THE RECESSED PLASTIC PORTION DIRECTLY BEHIND THE DOOR HANDLE BECOMING DETACHED AND SEPARATING ALONG WHAT APPEAR TO BE STRESS LINES. IT APPEARS THAT THIS WILL SHORTLY LEAD TO THE FULL FAILURE OF THE DOOR HANDLE FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE MAKING EXIT FROM THE VEHICLE INFEASIBLE WITHOUT ACCESS TO THE OUTER DOOR HANDLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC MY COMMANDER SHUTS OFF. IT ALSO STALLS AT TIMES WITHOUT SHUTTING OFF. THE ESP LIGHT ALSO COMES ON WHEN I FIRST TURN ON THE VEHICLE ON IN PARK. I TURNED INTO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, AND WERE NO HELP IN TRYING TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE HEADLIGHTS WERE TOO HIGH, AND FOCUSED TOO HIGH AND TOO FAR TO THE LEFT. WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, A POLICE OFFICER PULLED THE CONTACT OVER, AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT IT WAS ILLEGAL TO DRIVE WITH THE HIGH BEAMS ON WHILE FACING TRAFFIC. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE OFFICER THAT THE LIGHTS WERE THE LOW BEAMS, AND PROCEEDED TO DEMONSTRATE THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE HIGH BEAMS. THE OFFICER THEN INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO HAVE A DEALERSHIP ADJUST THE HEADLIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT ADJUSTABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, WHO WAS ALSO UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. UPDATED 12/1/2006 - THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO INSISTED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE COMMANDER WERE NOT ADJUSTABLE. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY WHO WAS ABLE TO ADJUST THE LIGHTS. *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,800.
I PURCHASED A JEEP COMMANDER IN DECEMBER 2005. RIGHT OFF I STARTED HAVING ELECTRICAL AND WATER LEAKING PROBLEMS WITH MY JEEP. THE VEHICLE WOULD MYSTERIOUSLY TURN OFF WHILE IDLING AND WOULD ACCELERATE QUICKLY FOR NO REASON. IN MARCH I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN COMPLAINING ABOUT THE DEFECTS. THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT AT THE TIME WAS WHEN YOU OPEN YOUR DOOR TO GET IN YOU LITERALLY GET A FOOT SOAKING!!!!!!!!! THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT RESOLVE ANY OF THE ISSUES THAT I HAD. THEY EVEN LAUGHED WHEN I ASKED THEM WHAT TO DO ABOUT THE DOOR AND SAID I BETTER GET USED TO IT BECAUSE JEEP WAS NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IN JUNE OF 2006 MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON AND I WAS STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF MOVING AND DECIDED TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT DEALER. THE DEALER AT THAT TIME TOLD ME NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT THAT IT WAS A MINOR REPAIR AND THEY COULD FIX IT WHEN I SETTLED IN. SO ON THE 16TH OF SEPTEMBER I RELEASED MY VEHICLE TO DAVE SMITH AUTO FOR REPAIR. I TOLD THEM I WANTED THE LEAKING DOORS (NOW THE PASSENGER DOOR WAS LEAKING AS WELL) FIXED OR REPLACED, WHILE THEY WERE FIXING THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THEIR SHOP FOR A WHOLE MONTH!! THEY COULD NOT GET PARTS FROM JEEP AND THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX THE DOORS. JEEP TOLD THEM IT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO ABOUT IT. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME ON OCTOBER 13TH , ON SATURDAY THE 14TH MY FAMILY WAS RETURNING HOME WHEN WE LOST ALL PANEL ELECTRICAL, I SLOWED DOWN AND SINCE WE WERE ONLY A MILE AWAY FROM HOME, I CONTINUED TO DRIVE. NOT EVEN 100 YARDS LATER THE WHOLE CAR WENT INTO COMPLETE CONVULSION. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO DAVE SMITH AND THEY ARE AGAIN ATTEMPTING TO FIX IT THIS CAR HAS PUT MY FAMILY IN GREAT DANGER!!! YET JEEP WILL NOT RECALL OR REFUND MY MONEY, IT IS AN OUTRAGE TO ME THAT THEY CAN SELL A VEHICLE AND NOT HAVE TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT!!! *NM

WHEN I TURN THE AIR CONDITIONER, OR BLOWER TO THE OFF POSITION I SEEM TO NOT HAVE AS MANY STALLS, IF NOT ANY. WHEN THE DEALERSHIP LOOKS AT IT WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT IS OFF THEY CANNOT SEE ANY ERROR CODES. WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON WHO IS NEAR A DEALER TO SEE THE FREAKING' ERROR CODES?!?!?! *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE IS STALLING AND THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING 10 TO 20 MPH. THE DEALER KEPT THE CAR ONE OR TWO DAYS AND WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 30,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000. 2006 JEEP COMMANDER - PURCHASED NEW IN 02/2006....VEHICLE CONTINUES TO STALL (MOTOR DIE COMPLETELY) WHEN DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS, IE PULLING OUT FROM RED LIGHTS OR TURNING INTO DRIVEWAYS, ETC. I WAS DRIVING MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER 4X4 4.7L DURING A THUNDERSTORM AND DROVE THROUGH ABOUT A FOOT TO A FOOT AND A HALF OF WATER AND WOUND UP BLOWING MY ENGINE. OTHER SUVS IN THE AREA MADE IT THROUGH THE WATER WITH NO PROBLEM BUT MINE DIED IN THE WATER. I WAS TOLD THAT THE AIR INTAKE ON THE VEHICLE IS LOW, JUST BELOW THE FRONT BUMPER. THIS IS A "TRAIL RATED" VEHICLE WHICH IS BOASTED TO PERFORM WELL IN "WATER FORDING". CHRYSLER REFUSES TO COVER UNDER WARRANTY, STATING THE DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE WAS NOT DUE TO MECHANICAL DEFECT, THAT IT WAS MY FAULT FOR DRIVING THROUGH WATER AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVEN AS INTENDED. 24 HOURS AFTER GETTING MY CAR BACK THE WINDOWS WENT HAYWIRE. THEY ARE STILL NOT WORKING RIGHT. I PURCHASED MY 2006 JEEP COMMANDER IN OCT. 2005. FIRST, MY BRAKES WOULD SHIMMY WHEN I CAME TO A STOP. THEN, BEGINNING SEPT. 13, I NOTICED MY DASH BOARD LIGHTS FLASHING ON AND OFF AS I ACCELERATED AFTER A STOP AND DROVE UPHILL. NOW, IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I AM DRIVIG THE VEHICLE UPHILL OR ON LEVEL AREAS ON THE HIGHWAYS AND FREEWAYS. IT GETS WORSE AND WORSE EVERYDAY. ON MONDAY, SEPT. 17, I CALLED TONY MCCUNE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP AND ARRANGED FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO BRING MY VEHICLE FOR A CHECK UP. THE DEALERSHIP WANTED TO CHARGE ME $190 TO ANALYZE IT. THEN, THEY CALLED ME IN THE AFTERNOON AND SAID IT WOULD COST ME OVER $400 TO REPAIR THE JEEP EVENTHOUGH THEY STILL DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE. BEFORE I WENT IN THE NEXT DAY, I SURFED THE INTERNET AND LEARNED THAT CHRYSLER WAS RECALLING MY MODEL FOR THE CONDITIONS I EXPLAINED ABOVE (MALFUNCTION OF THE COMPUTER SYSTEM, WHICH AFFECTS THE BRAKING SYSTEM). THE DEALERSHIP INSISTED THAT MY JEEP WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. CALLING CHRYSLER IN OAK RIDGE, TN, I EXPERIENCED THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM A REPRESENTATIVE WHO INSISTED THERE WAS NO RECALL IN PLACE FOR MY MODEL. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THAT CHRYSLER WOULD EXTEND MY WARRANTY (SINCE IT HAD ALREADY EXPIRED) IF I WOULD PAY $100 DEDUCTIBLE. ATER I PICKED UP MY JEEP AND DRIVE OFF, I NOTICED THE SAME THING HAPPENING AS I DROVE ONTO THE FREEWAY. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION. THE REPRESENTATIVE (BRUCE) INSISTED THAT THE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED. I DON'T BELIEVE THE DEALERSHIP EVER REPAIRED MY JEEP. PURCHASED NEW 2006 LIMITED MODEL. WINDSHIELD LEAKS, CAUSING WATER TO STAND IN FRONT FLOORBOARDS. RETURNED TO DEALER TWICE FOR REPAIR. INITIALLY THE WINDSHIELD WAS RE-SEALED. SECOND FIX WAS REPLACEMENT OF DOOR GASKET.

WHILE DRIVING THE SUV JUST SHUT OFF. NOT A STALL BUT A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL SHUTDOWN. ALL LIGHTS, GAUGES AND ENGINE SHUT OFF. THIS HAPPENED AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH ON A LONG DOWN GRADE. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT TO A STOP IN THE ROADWAY AND UPON PLACEMENT INTO PARK, WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THIS SITUATION NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AS APPROACHING CARS SAW NO BRAKE LIGHTS AND THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE ROADWAY TO BE RESTARTED. CURRENTLY THIS VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALER AND NO PROBLEM CAN BE FOUND. IT HAS BEEN ROAD TESTED OVER 75 MILES WITHOUT ADDITIONAL FAILURE. SINCE THIS IS THE SECOND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE, THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY IS A REAL CONCERN. *JB

LOSS OF STEERING WHEN RAINING AND VEHICLE IS DRIVEN THROUGH PUDDLES OF WATER ON THE ROADWAY. *TR
WATER LEAK FROM FRONT WINDSHIELD WHICH WETS THE A-FRAME INSIDE AS WELL AS THE CARPETS IN THE FRONT. ALONG WITH THIS, THERE IS A LOUD WHISTLING NOISE THAT COMES FROM THE WINDSHIELD AT 50 MI OR HIGHER SPEED. THIS IS DANGEROUS SINCE IT SEEMS THERE IS A GAP BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND THE FRAME. THE WATER DAMAGE COULD BE HAPPENING FOR MONTHS, WHILE THE JEEP WAS IN THE DEALER LOT TOO. *JB

THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN THE 2 MONTHS WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP IS LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE NEXT WEEK 9/22/06.
