TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH APPROACHING A TRAFFIC STOP SIGNAL. WHILE DRIVING FROM THE COMPLETE STOP THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. UPON RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMALLY. THE IDENTICAL FAILURE RECURRED TEN MONTHS LATER. IN ADDITION, THE REAR PARKING ASSIST FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THE GEAR SHIFT ASSIST WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND LOST ALL POWER. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY AFTER IT STALLED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SHIFT MODULE BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO TOOK HIS COMPLAINT AND STATED THAT A REPRESENTATIVE WOULD CONTACT HIM WITHIN 24 HOURS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,075.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER ALL FOUR GEARS WOULD SHOW THEM BEING HIGHLIGHTED (P-N-R-D) AND WHEN THIS WOULD HAPPEN IT WOULD LOSE POWER AND SLOW DOWN TO A POINT WHERE THERE WAS A CONCERN ABOUT BEING REAR ENDED IF IT COULD NOT BE PULLED OVER. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE. IN LOOKING ON THE INTERNET THIS IS NOT A ISOLATED INCIDENT BUT IS OCCURRING NATION-WIDE. THE SERVICE MANAGER EVEN SAID THAT THEY GET ABOUT ONE OF THESE A MONTH. THIS IS JUST ONE DEALER AND APPEARS TO BE NATION-WIDE FROM WHAT I SAW ON THE INTERNET. BOTH THE DEALER AND CHRYSLER HAVE SAID THAT THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT EXCEPT REPAIR THIS PROBLEM AT THE CONSUMERS EXPENSE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER IS IGNORING BUT SOMEDAY THEY MAY BE FACING A LAW SUIT IF THEIR IS A BAD ACCIDENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART BY TURNING THE KEY BACK AND STARTING THE ENGINE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 102,000. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE DRIVER'S SEAT TILTS BACKWARD ON ITS OWN. THE REMOTE UNLOCK AND LOCK BUTTONS ONLY WORKED ON OCCASION AND FINALLY WATER WOULD ENTER THE VEHICLE WHEN IT RAINED. UPDATED 03/09/11 UPDATED 06/16/11 *BF UPDATED 06/23/11
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE 40,000.
OUR 2007 JEEP COMMANDER 4X4 4.3L HAS A RECURRING STALLING PROBLEM. THEY VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY NOT START, ALREADY REPLACED A STARTER, WITH ONLY 54,000 ON THE JEEP. WHILE DRIVING IN ALL TRAFFIC CONDITIONS,THE VEHICLE WILL HESITATED AND OCCASIONALLY JUST TURN OFF. *TR

I OWN A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER WHILE DRIVING CAR STALLS IN DEC THE VEHICLE WOULDNT START AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT DID HOWEVER IT BEGAN READING ERRORS SERVICE PARK ASSIST AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON THEN IT WOULDN'T READ FUEL, WOULD SAY IT WAS EMPTY ALTHOUGH IT HAD FULL TANK OF GAS. WAS TOLD TO REPLACE FUEL SENDING UNIT BUT THE PROBLEM STOPPED ON IT'S OWN WHEN THE TEMPERATURE GOT COLD THE PROBLEM STARTED UP AGAIN. I'M VERY SCARED TO DRIVE IT DUE TO STALLING PROBLEMS NOT SURE WHAT TO DO ANYMORE. WHEN I CALLED MECHANIC THEY SAID THERE IS A NATIONWIDE BACK ORDER ON THAT PART NO TIMEFRAME GIVEN FOR PART BY DEALER AND STILL NO RECALLS ON THIS PROBLEM
RECENTLY HAD TO HAVE SUNROOF DRAINS CLEANED FOR SECOND TIME IN THE LAST 14 MONTHS AT A COST OF $500 EACH TIME. HEBERTS TOWN AND COUNTRY IN SHREVEPORT, LA TELLS ME THAT DRAINS ARE CLOGGED AND THIS IS CAUSING WATER TO LEAK INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THEY ALSO MENTIONED THAT THEY CAN'T WARRANTY ANY OF THE WORK B/C AN ACTUAL PART HASN'T BROKEN. VERY CONVENIENT FOR THEM. WE PARKED THE VEHICLE IN A GARAGE IN THE EVENINGS AND MADE SURE WE DIDN'T PARK UNDER ANY TREES AT OTHER TIMES THAT MAY CLOG DRAINS, BUT THEY GOT CLOGGED. I'M NOT SURE HOW CLEAN YOU HAVE TO KEEP VEHICLE TO KEEP DRAINS FROM CLOGGING, BUT I EFFECTIVELY HAVE A JEEP THAT CAN'T GET WET OR DIRTY. COMPLETELY CONTRARY TO ANY ADVERTISING DONE BY JEEP CLAIMING HOW RUGGED THEIR VEHICLES ARE. *TR
MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER HAS STALLED AND LOST VARIOUS VEHICLE FUNCTIONS. THIS HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES WITH NO PRIOR WARNINGS FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. MY COMMANDER HAS ONLY 33K MILES ON IT. THE DEALER SAID THE PROBLEM WAS SOME SORT OF "ELECTRONICS BOARD", THEY REPLACED IT. HOWEVER, THE JEEP HAS STALLED AGAIN AND NOW THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT IS ON AGAIN! THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE COMMANDERS. I ASK NHTSA TO PLEASE SERIOUSLY CONSIDER A RECALL TO CORRECT THESE ISSUES. THE COMMANDERS ARE NOW CREEPING UP IN AGE AND ARE NOW OUT OF FACTORY WARRANTY. PLEASE HELP TO CORRECT THESE ISSUES BEFORE THERE ARE MORE INJURIES OR DEATH. LETS KEEP IN MIND THAT THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WHO PURCHASED COMMANDERS ARE USING THEM AS A "FAMILY VEHICLE"! 2007 JEEP COMMANDER 85K MILES PROBLEM STARTED WITH SERVICE PARK ASSIST LIGHT COMING ON. CAR THEN WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FOR 10-15 SECONDS. APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS LATER (YESTERDAY) SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. THIS TIME I WAS ON THE ON RAMP TO THE HIGHWAY WHERE THEY ARE DOING CONSTRUCTION. THERE IS NO BREAKDOWN LANE, SO WHEN YOU GET ON THE HIGHWAY YOU ARE IN FIRST LANE. AS SOON AS I GOT INTO THE FIRST LANE, THE SERVICE PARK ASSIST LIGHT CAME ON, THE P R N D LIGHTS WERE ALL ILLUMINATED, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AGAIN FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 SECONDS AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS AGAIN, THERE IS NO BREAKDOWN LANE TO PULL OVER. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY CANNOT TAKE THE CAR FOR A COUPLE DAYS. AFTER READING THE COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER 2007 JEEP OWNERS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, I PRINTED THESE AND BROUGHT THEM TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY INDICATED THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT I CAN PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND TAKE IT FROM THERE. I WAS ALSO GIVEN THE TELEPHONE NUMBER FOR CHRYSLER. I HAD MY SON IN THE CAR, I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR AND WILL HAVE TO FIND AN ALTERNATE ROUTE TO WORK AS THIS EXIT WILL BE THIS WAY FOR SOME TIME AND HAD A CAR BEEN CLOSER BEHIND ME, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT. *TR
VEHICLE STALLS WHENEVER IT WANTS TOO. DRIVING DOWN FREEWAY AT 70MPH VEHICLE WILL TURN OFF AND ALL SYSTEMS SHUT DOWN CAUSING IT TO BE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. VEHICLE STALLS AT STOP SIGNS AND SIGNALS AS WELL. SOMETIMES IT WILL GO FOR WEEKS WITHOUT STALLING AND THEN WILL SUDDENLY STALL WITHOUT WARNING. DEALER CAN NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG AND WANTS TO PLAY THE GUESSING GAME WITH FIXING IT, HAVE REPLACED MANY DIFFERENT PARTS,OVER $500 SO FAR, BUT STILL STALLS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY SHUT COMPLETELY OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE WOULD OPERATE AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHIFTER GEAR MODULE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED BEFORE OR AFTER THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,498.
I HAVE A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER WITH 32K MILES. THE VEHICLE HAS STARTED STALLING OCCASIONALLY WHEN WE COME TO A STOP. THE TRUCK STARTS RIGHT UP AGAIN. THE TRUCK HAS THE HEMI 5.7. WE HAVE EXPERIENCED 4 EPISODES SO FAR. *TR
MY BOYFRIEND AND I WERE DRIVING HOME FROM DINNER AND ABOUT HALF WAY HOME THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING AND THE SPEED DROPPED FROM 70 MPH TO 40 AND KEPT SLOWING DOWN. WE HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON. THE CAR HAS DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES SINCE AND A LIGHT COMES ON THAT SAYS "SERVICE PARK ASSIST". I HAVE READ UP ON THIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL AND HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE THAT HAS NOT BEEN DEALT WITH! THIS IS ALSO A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE. I ALSO FOUND THAT IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE "PARK ASSIST" BUT RATHER THE TRANSMISSION IN THE TRUCK AND THAT MANY HAVE FAILED WELL BEFORE 50,000 MILES BUT SHORTLY AFTER JEEP'S 35,000 MILE WARRANTY. JEEP DID NOT COVER MY CAR BECAUSE I BOUGHT IT USED WHICH TERMINATED THE WARRANTY BECAUSE I WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED - THIS IS MY FIRST JEEP - AND I HAVE WANTED A JEEP FOR YEARS. THE CAR STILL DECELERATES AT TIMES - I CAN BE IN TRAFFIC OR PULLING OFF FROM A STOP OR TURNING A CORNER AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT IS NOT SHIFTING OR ACCELERATING. I CAN'T AFFORD A NEW CAR RIGHT NOW BUT AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY FAMILY'S SAFETY. PLEASE READ UP ON THE MANY ARTICLES AND COMMENTS FROM PEOPLE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND SAVE LIVES!!! MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER TURNS OFF O ME WHEN I'M AT STOP SIGNS OR SLOWING DOWN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. TODAY I WENT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND TOLD THE SERVICE ADVISOR ABOUT THE PROBLEM. HE ACTED LIKE THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME HE HAS HEARD ABOUT THE ISSUE. HE ASKED ME HOW OFTEN IT HAPPENS AND I SAID A FEW TIMES A WEEK. HE THEN SAID THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE TO BE BROUGHT IN WHILE IT'S HAPPENING. REALLY!!!! HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO TAKE IT IN WHEN IT HAPPENS OR BEFORE IT HAPPENS! THE VEHICLE DOESN'T WARN ME AND IT TURNS IN RIGHT AWAY AS IF NOTHING HAS EVER HAPPENED! IT IS SO FRUSTRATING!! I'VE HAD IT FOR LESS THAN A YEAR AND WE ARE ALREADY EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS! I OWN A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER IT IS ALWAYS OVERHEATING. IT HAS ALSO STALLED OUT AN THE LIGHTING SYSTEM STARTED MALFUNCTIONING BY CUTTING COMPLETELY OFF. ALSO IT WILL SAY IN THE DIGITAL DASH SCREEN THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS OVERHEATING WHEN I START THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TO CUT THE TRUCK OFF IMMEDIATELY AN WHEN I CRANK IT BACK UP IT IS FINE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEED SUCH AS SLOWING TO STOP OR TAKING OFF FROM A DEAD STOP THE TRUCK STALLS AND HAS TO BE PUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED. THIS HAPPENS QUITE FREQUENTLY, AND WHEN DRIVING ON INTERSTATES WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE THE TRUCK ALSO STALLS OR HAS A POWER FAILURE WHERE IT ALMOST FEELS LIKE IT ITS A GOVERNED SPEED AND THE ENGINE WON'T LET YOU SPEED UP. THE COMPUTER NOW IS HAVING ISSUES SAYING THAT THE ENGINE COOLANT IS TOO COLD, THOUGHT THE THERMOSTAT IS WORKING FINE AS WELL AS THE GAUGES INSIDE THE TRUCK. THE COMPUTER IS ALSO GIVING A CODE OF AN ERROR WITH THE BAROMETRIC PRESSURE.
LEAVING A PARKING LOT AND ACCELERATING AS I DROVE. ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE VEHICLE STARTED STALLING AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE EVEN IF THE GAS PEDAL WAS PUSHED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL. THEN THE VEHICLE STARTED ACCELERATING BACK TO NORMAL, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REAMINED ON. I TOOK IT TO AUTO ZONE TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK DONE AND THEY GAVE ME A CODE AND SAID THAT IT WAS NOT A PART THAT THEY CARRIED ONLY FROM THE MANUFACTURER. IT HAS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES BEFORE TODAY AND ON THE DASH IT WOULD SAY SERVICE PARK ASSIST AND THE GEARS PRNDL ARE ALL HIGHLIGHTED.THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO AND IT WAS THE SHIFTER. IT ONLY HAD ABOUT 40,000 MILES. IT HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. IT WAS NOT COVERED BY MY EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE IT WAS AN EXTERNAL PART OF THE TRANSMISSION. IT COST CLOSE TO $600.00. NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN AND I DON'T WANT TO REPLACE IT AGAIN IF IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN IN A YEAR OR TWO.
ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND ENGINE STALLS/STOPS; ENGINE DIES WHEN AUTO REMOTE STARTED DEALER STATES THE PCM NEED A SOFTWARE UPDATE WHICH IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE DEALER OR EXTENDED WARRANTY I AM IN FEAR FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY BECAUSE THIS STALLING HAS OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE WHY CAN'T MANUFACTURERS BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR DEFECTS AS IT APPEARS THEY KNOW ABOUT IT BUT WON'T EXTEND IT TO THE 5.7L HEMI MODELS SUCH AS MINE. *TR
2007 JEEP COMMANDER SHUT OFF ON HIGHWAY. *TR
MY FRONT BRAKES LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE FIRST TIME 11/4/10. I WAS TOLD FROM THE DEALERSHIP THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THIS ISSUE, BUT GOT AN ERROR FROM THE CAR THAT SAID THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL WAS GOING FASTER THEN ALL THE REST OF THE TIRES AND THE ABS ACTIVATED AND LOCKED UP THE FRONT WHEELS. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN 12/15/10 AND THE ABS, SLIPPERY WHEN WET, ESP, BAS, AND SERVICE 4 WHEEL DRIVE LIGHTS CAME ON. THE DEALERSHIP TESTED IT AGAIN AND GOT THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE. THEY REPLACED THE SENSOR ON THE FRONT RIGHT PASSENGER WHEEL, AND STATED THAT THIS MAY HAVE FIXED IT, BUT THAT THEY ARE NOT 100% SURE HOW TO FIX THE ISSUE. I BELIEVE THIS IS SIMILAR TO RECALL 06V493000. I HAVE ALSO FILED A CLAIM WITH CHRYSLER. NO ONE WILL HELP ME. I AM AFRAID FOR MY SAFETY AS WELL AS MY FAMILIES IN THIS CAR. I CAN NOT AFFORD A CONTINUOUS RENTAL OR TO PURCHASE A NEW CAR. I AM NOW OUT TIME LOSS AT WORK, CAR RENTAL, TOWING, AND COSTLY REPAIRS. PLEASE HELP ME. *TR
2007 JEEP COMMANDER WONT START SAYS TRANSOVER TEMP. ALSO WHEN IT DOES START AFTER SITTING FOR DAYS IT WILL LIGHT UP ALL GEARS AND STALL. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER OVERLAND. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED EVERY TIME SHE CAME TO A STOP WHILE HER FOOT WAS DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. LATELY, WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO DEALERS AND OTHER MECHANICS SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE POWER TRAIN MODULE BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO EXIST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED ON ME AT LEAST 30 TIMES. IT OCCURS WHILE IDLING AT A STOP AND ALSO AT SLOWER SPEEDS. AFTER RAINY DAYS SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE WON'T START. THE SECOND TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHICH ALSO DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER A THIRD TIME, BUT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61, 000.
