TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. WHENEVER THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE BETWEEN 45-50 MPH AND ACCELERATED, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPRODUCED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER REPLACEMENT OF THE WATER PUMP. RIGHT TAIL LIGHT ON MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER KEEPS GOING OUT. DEALERSHIP SERVICE TOLD ME THAT THE TIPM SYSTEM KEPT BLOWING THE FUSE. I HAD REPLACED THE FUSE SEVERAL TIMES BUT THE TAIL LIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT. I HAVE ACTUALLY PULLED UP BEHIND OTHER COMMANDER AT RED LIGHTS AND NOTICED THAT THE SAME LIGHT WAS OUT ON THEIR VEHICLE AS WELL. YOU NEED TO LOOK INTO THIS. ONE DOESN'T EXPECT TO HAVE THE TAILLIGHT KEEP GOING OUT AFTER REPLACING BULBS AND FUSES. *TR
2007 JEEP COMMANDER, 92,000 MILES, STALLS WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I WAS ABLE TO GUIDE VEHICLE TO SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RE-START THE ENGINE. THIS STALLING PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ON ABOUT TEN OCCASIONS NOW, ONCE WITH MY KIDS ON BOARD, A SCARY SITUATION TO SAY THE LEAST. SOMETIMES BEFORE THE PROBLEM STARTS THE PARK ASSIST WILL TURN ITSELF OFF AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON. WE HAVE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO GET AN ERROR CODE FROM THE COMPUTER SYSTEM BY TURNING THE KEY 3 TIMES IN A ROW BUT IT NEVER RETURNS A CODE. SOMETIMES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL STAY ON FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS BUT EVENTUALLY GOES OUT AND THE JEEP WILL RUN FINE UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THE LAST TIME THIS OCCURRED THE ABILITY TO SHIFT THE GEARS FROM 1 TO 4 WAS INOPERABLE AND WHEN YOU PRESSED THE GEAR SHIFT RIGHT OR LEFT IT REMAINED IN DRIVE. I HAVE CALLED SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS AND HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT THEY HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING OF THIS PROBLEM AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC RAN BUT CAN'T CONFIRM WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. *TR
WHEN MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER IS IN DRIVE THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AND SPUTTER OR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. VEHICLE SPEED VARIES BETWEEN 5 AND 60 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS. THE PROBLEM STARTED IN OCTOBER 2009 VEHICLE SPEED AT THAT TIME WAS 5MPH. SINCE THEN THE SPEED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURS HAS INCREASED AND THE LAST TIME (JANUARY 2010) I WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH THE VEHICLE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF, NO POWER WAS VISIBLE ON ANY CONTROL I.E. DASHBOARD LIGHTS, RADIO, ETC AND I LOST STEERING POWER. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE COAST OFF INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE STOP THE VEHICLE MOVE IT TO PARK AND RESTART. THE PROBLEM OCCURS RANDOMLY AND WITH NO APPARENT WARNING. WHEN IT CUTS OFF I LOSE POWER STEERING AND HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR ACCIDENTS WITH CARS TRAVELING BEHIND ME. WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLS AND SPUTTERS BUT DOES NOT LOSE ALL POWER IT MAY THEN SURGE FORWARD WHEN THE POWER RECONNECTS. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AT MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP BUT THEY CAN NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ENGAGE THE BRAKE PEDAL OR CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL EVERYTHING SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE, RESTART THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE HOME SAFELY. THE VEHICLE IS BEING REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.

THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL SPORADICALLY AND RESTART AFTER IT WAS TURNED ON AND OFF WITHIN A MINUTE; THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. AFTER THE LATEST OCCURRENCE, THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN MAY 2008. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED AND LOSS ALL POWER ON THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE POWER STEERING ALSO FAILED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO USE TREMENDOUS FORCE IN ORDER TO SAFELY MANEUVER THE VEHICLE OFF OF THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED WITHIN MINUTES AND RESUMED ALL POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CLOSEST DEALER WHERE THE ELECTRIC SHIFT MODULE WAS REPLACED. ALTHOUGH RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V203000, COMPONENT POWER TRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, CONTROL MODULE, ACTION NUMBER EA07007 IS RELATED TO THE FAILURE , HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. TO DATE, THE ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE WAS BEING REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE REPAIRS WERE MADE AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 48,000. I PURCHASED MY USED JEEP COMMANDER AND SHORTLY AFTER IT STALLED ON ME WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I TOOK TURNED THE KEY AND GOT IT TO TURN ON AGAIN, LUCKILY THERE WERE NO CARS BEHIND ME. ANOTHER TIME I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED, AGAIN I WAS LUCKY THE TRAFFIC WAS BACKED UP AND NOT MOVING TOO FAST. BEFORE MY WARRANTY RAN OUT I TOOK IT IN AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS NOTHING COMING UP ON THEIR TESTS THAT WAS OF CONCERN. THE NEXT MONTH MY WARRANTY EXPIRED AND I WAS STRANDED AT A STORE. MY JEEP WOULD NOT TURN ON CLAIMING "TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP." IT WAS NOT THE BATTERY. I LEFT IT OVER NIGHT AND WENT BACK THE NEXT DAY AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY JEEP AND SUGGESTED A TRANSMISSION COMPUTER UPDATE. ABOUT A MONTH LATER I WAS BACK AT THE SHOP WITH THE "TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP" ISSUE, BUT THE JEEP BEHAVED AT THE DEALERSHIP. I PICKED IT UP AND ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER I WAS BACK AT THE SHOP, HAVING TO TOW IN MY CAR. THE CAR AGAIN TURNED ON, SO THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE STARTER RELAY ON A GUESS (I WAS NOT CHARGED). AGAIN 2 MONTHS LATER MY CAR IS BACK IN THE SHOP FOR NOT TURNING ON, AGAIN SAYING THAT THERE IS A "TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP" ISSUE. ALSO WHILE I AM SITTING AT A RED LIGHT, I FIND MY JEEP SHAKING LIKE CRAZY. IT SEEMS LIKE IT WANTS TO TURN OFF, BUT IT DOESN'T (OR MAYBE THE LIGHT CHANGES JUST IN TIME). I HAVE DONE REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON MY JEEP. THE DEALERSHIP HAS RUN THEIR DIAGNOSTIC TESTS ON THE JEEP AND ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HAS COME UP. ALL IN ALL, I DRIVE IN FEAR THAT MY CAR WILL STALL AGAIN ON THE HIGHWAY, PUTTING BOTH MY SON'S AND MY LIFE IN DANGER, OR THAT WE WILL BE STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. THE PARK ASSIST WARNING MESSAGE ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND AFTER SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO ACCELERATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY AT WHEN THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. ON ONE OCCASION, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT AND SECURE THE VEHICLE IN ANY GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC SHIFTER MODULE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000. *TR
2007 JEEP COMMANDER. ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY JEEP WOULD NOT START. BATTERY WAS FULLY CHARGED AND NO ISSUES WITH THE ALTERNATOR. HAD TO HAVE THE JEEP TOWED TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE WIRELESS REMOTE COMPONENT WAS NOT WORKING. THIS SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE WITH A THREE YEARS OLD CAR. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER OVERLAND WITH A 5.7L V8 HEMI MOTOR WITH 35,000 MILES ON IT. I AM EXPERIENCING STALLING WITH MY VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE HAS STALLED THREE TIMES NOW - ONCE AT A STOP LIGHT, ONCE WHILE IDLING IN A PARKING LOT, AND ONCE WHILE DRIVING (AROUND 10 -15 MPH). I SPOKE WITH CHRYSLER AND THEY BLEW ME OFF. I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND AM FEARFUL THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AT A HIGH SPEED OR SOMEWHERE WHERE THIS STALLING WILL RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. WHILE SEARCHING THE INTERNET AND VARIOUS FORUMS, I FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS STALLING ISSUE. WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS IF CHRYSLER DENIES THE PROBLEM AND INSISTS THEY "CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG" WITH THE VEHICLE? IT CAN'T BE A 'FLUKE' IF THOUSANDS OF JEEP COMMANDER DRIVERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE! *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE WILL SUDDENLY DIE WITHOUT WARNING. ALL POWER STEERING/BRAKES ARE LOST. IT WILL RESTART IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS AN ONGOING, BUT RANDOM PROBLEM. THE ONLY CODE THAT IS RECORDED REFERS TO THE IGNITION RELAY MODULE. TO DATE THE EGR, IGNITION RELAY MODULE, AND CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THIS PROBLEM REPRESENTS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE, AS A LOSS OF POWER WHILE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC COULD HAVE CATASTROPHIC CONSEQUENCES. *TR
EARLY 2010 I EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT, "SERVICE PARK ASSIST' AND ALL MY GEARS LIGHTING UP AT ONCE, AND NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE IN THE MIDDLE OF 65MPH TRAFFIC!. AFTER RESEARCHING THE 'SYMPTOMS' AND TALKING TO SEVERAL MECHANICS IT WAS DISCOVERED THE ESM 'WAS BAD' AND WAS REPLACED. IT BEGAN AT APPROX 55,000 MILES. I WENT THRU QUITE A PROCESS WITH CHRYSLER OVER THIS ISSUE. LONG STORY SHORT, NOW...AMAZINGLY AFTER ANOTHER 60,000 MILES (COINCIDENCE???) I NEED TO HAVE IT REPLACED AGAIN AS ALL THE SAME THINGS ARE HAPPENING? JEEPS USUALLY LAST A LONG TIME, AND THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE WITH MAINTAINING MY VEHICLE OR HOW I DRIVE...SO I WILL HAVE TO POTENTIALLY REPLACE IT AGAIN AND AGAIN? OF COURSE CHRYSLER TELLS ME ITS NOT A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLES YET JUST ON THIS SITE AND LOOKING FOR THE EXACT COMPLAINTS I FIND NO LESS THAN 45 OF THE SAME COMPLAINT AND AT LEAST ANOTHER 100+ THAT ARE PROBABLY THE SAME JUST WORDED DIFFERENTLY. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS DOES IT TAKE TO HAVE A COMPANY PAY FOR AND REPLACE DEFECTIVE PARTS? DOES IT TAKE A CERTAIN NUMBER OF FATALITIES?? I HONESTLY DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW IT JUST GETS IGNORED FORT YEARS AND YEARS. ON TOP OF THAT, THE WORK HAS TO BE DONE AT A DEALER DUE TO CERTAIN TOOLS NEEDED, AND ITS NO LESS THAN $1000 TO REPLACE. HOW CONVENIENT FOR THE COMPANY. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. I LIVE IN VIRGINIA. THE TEMPERATURE HAS BEEN IN THE 30'S. WITH NO APPARENT CAUSE (NO ROCK HITTING OR ANYTHING), MY WINDSHIELD STARTED WITH A TINY HAIRLINE CRACK (BOTTOM MIDDLE) AND IN A COUPLE DAYS, THE CRACKED LINE BECAME "L-SHAPED" AND MOVING LEFT. IT WAS ABOUT 8 INCHES IN LENGTH. I BELIEVE THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE WINDSHIELD SINCE NOTHING HAPPENED OTHER THAN THE COLD TEMPERATURE AND MY PERHAPS MY USE OF THE VEHICLE'S DEFROST. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER TURNING THE IGNITION SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS OR DIAGNOSIS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE CONTACT REACHED IN THE BACK SEAT, BUMPED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN THE PARK POSITION AND WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. AT 50 MPH THE ENGINE STALLED I PULLED TO THE SIDE AND RESTARTED IT THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVER SINCE THAT FIRST TIME ONLY AT PRESENT IT HAPPENS MORE REGULARLY AT LEAST ONCE DAILY SOMETIMES TWICE I HAVE REPLACED MANY PARTS,PLUGS, COILS, OIL SENDING UNIT, CPS, IGNITION SWITCH BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST, PS I AM A RETIRED AUTO MECHANIC SO I DO NOT TRUST OR BELIEVE IN AUTO DEALERSHIPS. *TR
PURCHASE A USED 2007 JEEP COMMANDER ON NOV 2007 FROM DEALERSHIP. TWO YEARS IN POSSESSION. THE JEEP COMMANDER, GEARS WILL ALL LIGHT UP AND STALL AT 30 RPM FOR TWO IN HALF MONTHS FREQUENTLY. WITHOUT THE DEALERSHIP ABLE TO ESTABLISH CAUSE, I HAD TO WAIT FOR THE ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. ON DECEMBER 11. 2009, DURING THE LAST TWO DAYS, SIMULTANEOUS THE GEARS WILL LIGHT UP WHILE, THE SPEEDOMETER BECAME IRREGULAR CAUSING ME TO RESTART THE JEEP CONSISTENTLY TO RESET IT. FINALLY, THE DASHBOARD ENGINE LIGHTS UP AND I TURN IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON DECEMBER 12, 2009 THE NEXT MORNING. ACCORDING, TO DEALERSHIP LOCATED IN HAMPTON, VA. THE PROBLEM IS CONCLUDED AS THE SHIFTER, NOT COVER BY THE 4 STAR WARRANTY HOWEVER, AFTER RESEARCHING YOUR DATABASE, I FOUND SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER TRAIN AND TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE MODULE. THE JEEP IS NOW LOCATED AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR HOWEVER, A MAJOR PROBLEM AFTER 2 YEARS AND 40,000 MILES IN SERVICE SHOULD NOT BE THE CAUSE OF WARE AND TEAR. *TR
APPROXIMATELY, TWO MONTHS AGO, A VALVE STEM ON MY JEEP TIRE WAS CORRODED AND THE TIP CRACKED OFF, CAUSING THE SENSOR TO GO OFF ON THE DASH AND IT WAS NOT ABLE TO HAVE AIR PUT IN. I REPLACED THE VALVE STEM AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $80.00. JUST THIS PAST WEEK, THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON ANOTHER TIRE...THE TOP OF THE VALVE STEM CRACKED OFF AND I AM NOT ABLE TO PUT AIR IN THE TIRE. I'M SURE IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL THE SAME THING HAPPENS WITH THE OTHER VALVE STEMS ON THE OTHER TWO TIRES.
2007 JEEP COMMANDER LIMITED. 5.7L HEMI. VEHICLE HAS STALLED ABOUT HALF A DOZEN TIMES IN LAST TWO YEARS. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (+/- 65 MPH) AND WITH NO WARNING. ENGINE QUITS AND INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT COME ON. I'VE (LUCKILY) BEEN ABLE TO PULL SAFELY OFF THE ROAD. WHEN I SHUT OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH AND WAIT A FEW SECONDS, I AM ABLE TO START IT BACK UP AND CONTINUE. I'VE BROUGHT THIS UP TO TWO SEPARATE JEEP DEALERS, AND THEY CLAIM THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. *TR
07 JEEP COMMANDER W/ < 30K MILES, SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. VARIOUS SPEEDS, VARIOUS GEARS, VARIOUS GAS LEVELS, VARIOUS TERRAINS. TRUCK HAS DONE THIS +/- 5X'S OVER THE COURSE OF THE LAST 7 MOS. NO INDICATOR LIGHT, NO WARNING. RESULTS IN COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING & POWER BRAKES REQUIRING THE NEED TO COAST IN NEUTRAL TO SAFE LOCATION AND ULTIMATELY PULLING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO COME TO COMPLETE STOP. TROUBLE THEN GETTING JEEP INTO PARK FOR A RESTART. JEEP HAS BEEN IN DEALER SHOP FOR EACH INSTANCE TO NO AVAIL, DEALER CANNOT SOLIDIFY PROBLEM. 1ST DIAGNOSIS WAS SHIFT MODULE; 2ND DIAGNOSIS WAS SHIFT MODULE 3RD DIAGNOSIS WAS UPGRADE TO SOFTWARE FOR SHIFT MODULE; 4TH DIAGNOSIS WAS LOW TRANSMISSION FLUID. DEALER IS EMPATHETIC, CHRYSLER IS NOT. CHRYSLER ISSUED US A CHECK FOR THE AMOUNT OF 2 LEASE PAYMENTS BUT HAS NOT REMEDIED PROBLEM. *TR

MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER LIMITED 4X4 HAS STALLED OUT ON FIVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. IN ALL OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING. AFTER STALLING OUT THE VEHICLE'S POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING DID NOT WORK. ALSO, THE FIRST TIME IT STALLED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD A DIAGNOSTICIAN CHECK THE CODE AND IT WAS "BAROMETRIC PRESSURE TOO LOW". HE RESET THE CODE AND THE LIGHT HAS NOT COME BACK ON. MY WARRANTY IS UP AND I HOPE CHRYSLER CAN FIX THIS FOR FREE. I FEEL THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE UNTIL THIS IS FIXED. *TR
BEGINNING IN OCTOBER 2009 WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 36K ON IT THE ENGINE STALLED ONCE. I THOUGHT MAYBE GAS OR SOMETHING....THEN TWO MORE TIMES IN OCTOBER WHILE STOPPED. GETS WORSE BY THE WEEK UNTIL IT IS ACTUALLY STALLING WHEN DRIVING AT 60MPH.....HAVE HAD IT IN FOR SERVICE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THEY HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL COMPONENTS AND STILL WILL STALL. THIS IS 2012 AND SINCE IT ALL BEGAN I HAVE FILED 2 CASES WITH CHRYSLER, ON THE FIRST GO ROUND, THEY THOUGHT THEY FIXED IT AND AGAIN A FEW WEEKS LATER IT BEGAN TO STALL. MY DAUGHTER, 6 YEARS OF AGE, IN THE CAR AND I AM TAKING HER TO SCHOOL AND THE ENGINE STALLS AND WE ALMOST WERE HIT BY A VEHICLE TRAVELING IN EXCESS OF 55 MPH, IF THAT VEHICLE DID NOT GET OUT OF THE WAY IT WOULD HAVE DIRECTLY HIT WHERE MY DAUGHTER WAS SITTING. SHE BEGAN TO CRY AND SHE WILL NO LONGER RIDE IN THE COMMANDER. WE ARE ALL AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. IT HAS STALLED ON US I KNOW OVER 100 TIMES IN THE PAST 4 YEARS. I HAVE BEGGED CHRYSLER TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE. I LOVED MY COMMANDER I HAVE HAD SEVERAL JEEPS AND THIS IS SO UPSETTING. CHRYSLER SEEMS TO DENY THEY HAVE ANY CLUE OF THESE PROBLEMS WITH 2007 COMMANDERS AND I SEE SEVERAL POSTINGS ON THIS WEBSITE ALONE OF THE SAME ISSUE. IT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. I HAD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND WHEN I ACCELERATED MY VEHICLE IT STALLED AS I WAS ROUNDING A CORNER. MY ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN TO FLASH. I OWN AT 2007 JEEP COMMANDER WITH 33,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS DRIVING 55 ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN MY JEEP COMMANDER JUST TURNED OFF. I HAD NO ACCELERATION OR POWER BRAKES. I WAS LUCKY TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT HITTING ANYONE. I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE ISSUE AND THERE WAS NO CODE SO THEY COULDN'T IDENTIFY WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. I AM SUPPOSE TO CALL THEM IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN.. *TR
WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ENGAGED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING DOWN A HILL THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL PROPERLY DOWNSHIFT TO SLOW THE VEHICLE AND KEEP IT AT THE SET SPEED. IF THE VEHICLE IS THEN SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL DISENGAGE PROPERLY AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL GO INTO THE NEUTRAL GEAR, BUT WHEN SHIFTED BACK INTO DRIVE THE TRANSMISSION WILL RE-ENGAGE AND WILL SLOW THE VEHICLE EXTREMELY ABRUPTLY AS IF SOMEONE SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES WITH FULL FORCE AND WILL NEARLY LOCK-UP THE REAR WHEELS ON DRY PAVEMENT. THIS WILL OCCUR EVEN IF THE CRUISE CONTROL IS TURNED OFF BEFORE SHIFTING BACK INTO DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE BECAUSE OF THE PLACEMENT OF THE SHIFTER, AND IT WAS TERRIFYING BECAUSE OF THE SPEED I WAS TRAVELING AND THE ABRUPTNESS WITH WHICH THE VEHICLE SLOWED. IF ANYONE WOULD HAVE BEEN BEHIND ME I WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO MAKE THE TRANSMISSION NOT DO THAT ONCE THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WOULD BECOME COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL IF DRIVING ON ANYTHING BUT TOTALLY DRY PAVEMENT. *TR
MY ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING OVER THE LAST COUPLE YEARS. IN SEPTEMBER 1, 2009 TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP BECAUSE ENGINE LIGHT, ACCELERATION SLOW OR STALLING,CAR SHAKING AND TRANSMISSION CLUNKS INTO GEAR. I HAD 48,286 MILES AT THAT TIME. THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND CODES P0430 & P0420 (CATALYTIC CONVERTER EFFICIENCY FAILURE. DEALERSHIP REPROGRAMMED PCM AND STATED THIS CLEARED THE CODES. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP 09/18/2009 ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN. DEALERSHIP INSTALLED A SOPCAT CONVERTER AND 2 OXYGEN SENSOR. MY ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN 02/2012 WITH SHAKING, RIDING ROUGH, WHILE DRIVING STALLING , ACCELERATING UP OR DOWN. DEALERSHIP REPLACED PCM, SAME DAY GETTING CAR BACK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING DAY. NOW THEY STATE ITS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. NOW MY WARRANTY IS OUT. I ALREADY PAID OUT FOR PCM NOW HAVE TO PAY FOR CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED BACK IN 09/2009. BOTH THE PCM & CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS AN ISSUE BACK IN 2009 AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED THEN. NOW I HAVE TO PAY OUT ALL THIS MONEY. I THINK ITS A RECALL. *TR
I VISITED A DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE WHY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON IN MY VEHICLE, AS WELL AS TO DIAGNOSE WHY IT WAS LOSING ACCELERATION WHEN APPROACHING HIGHWAY SPEED. AFTER ABOUT HALF AN HOUR, I WAS ADVISED BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR, THAT, 'THEY HAVE BEEN SEEING A LOT OF THIS' AND THE CAUSE WAS THE GEAR SHIFTER CONSOLE WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SHE FOLLOWED THIS BY STATING THE REPLACEMENT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND PROVIDED ME WITH THE ESTIMATED COST. PERPLEXED, I INQUIRED AS TO WHETHER THE CAUSE WAS DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR AND COULD THIS HAVE BEEN PREVENTED THROUGH SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. MS. HAWKINS RESPONSE WAS 'NO'. FURTHER CONFUSED, I INQUIRED AS TO WHY WOULD THE REPLACEMENT THEN BE THE CONSUMER'S RESPONSIBILITY, AS IT WOULD APPEAR TO ME TO HAVE BEEN A MANUFACTURING MALFUNCTION. THE REP'S RESPONSE WAS MERELY THE SAME, THE SERVICES ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND IF NOT REPLACED THE VEHICLE COULD GET LOCKED IN THE PARKED POSITION WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THUS I WAS FORCED TO COMPLY PAYING MORE THAN $600 IN REPAIRS. *TR
IN AUGUST 2009 A TRUCK DROPPED A ROCK FROM ITS LOAD A BROKE (CRACKED) MY WINDSHIELD ON MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. WE HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED AND WITH IN WEEKS A CRACK APPEARED ON THE TOP OF DRIVER"S SIDE. THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOT STRUCK BY ANYTHING. THAT CRACKED WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED AND IN NOVEMBER THAT WINDSHIELD CRACKED ON THE TOP SIDE OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE. AGAIN NOTHING STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD. ON DEC. 1, 2009 THIRD WINDSHIELD WAS INSTALLED. LATE IN DECEMBER, 2009 THAT WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK ON THE BOTTOM OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE. AGAIN NOTHING STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD TO CAUSE THE CRACK. THE AUTO GLASS COMPANY STATES THAT THIS IS UNUSUAL BUT NOTHING THEY ARE DOING DURING THE INSTALLATION WOULD CAUSE THIS PROBLEM TO OCCUR THREE CONSECUTIVE TIMES. WE DROVE THE CAR FOR TWO YEARS, 2007 TO 2009 WITHOUT PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDSHIELD. ONLY AFTER A REPLACEMENT WAS INSTALLED DID THE CRACKS START APPEARING. THE CRACKS IN THE REPLACEMENT WINDOWS ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DO CAUSE VISIBILITY AND SAFETY ISSUES. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, AND THE IGNITION CONTROL SWITCH WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE TECHNICIANS ADVISED HIM THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE BROUGHT IN FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27993.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS WORSE AFTER THE THIRD REPAIR BECAUSE THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO JERK VIOLENTLY. THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 52,000.

WE BOUGHT A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER V6 IN JULY/AUGUST OF '08 AND HAVE CONSTANTLY HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ESM (ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE) DURING THE FIRST FEW VISITS THEY STATED THAT "PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED" AND THEY WOULD FLASH THE VEHICLES COMPUTER AND IT WOULD RUN FOR AWHILE THEN FINALLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND GOT THE VEHICLE IN AND FOUND IT WAS THE ESM WHICH WAS FINALLY REPLACED IN APR '09 AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO HAVE THEM FIX. SINCE IT WAS STILL UNDER THE 3YR/36K WARRANTY IT WAS AT NO COST. NOW IT HAS GONE OUT AGAIN LESS THAN A YEAR LATER AND OUR WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND JEEP STATES THAT THEIR PART WARRANTY (WHICH SHOULD BE 12MO/12K) EXPIRED ALONG WITH THE FACTORY WARRANTY AND WE ARE OUT OF LUCK. THE PART WAS REPLACED AS A "GOODWILL" GESTURE WHICH WAS TOLD TO ME BY A CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT AND DOES NOT HAVE ANY PART WARRANTY. AS I WAS INVESTIGATING WHETHER OR NOT IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM I NOTICED THAT THE V8 MODELS OF THE COMMANDER HAD A RECALL FOR THE AUTO TRANSMISSIONS BUT THE V6 DOES NOT. IT WAS QUITE SCARY DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70 THEN SUDDENLY LOSING POWER AND POWER STEERING ESPECIALLY WITH MY 2YR OLD AND 8YR OLD IN THE SUV. THE VEHICLE WOULD GO INTO "LIMP" MODE AND WOULDN'T SHIFT OUT OF 3RD GEAR AND GO FASTER THAN 25MPH, RPMS WOULDN'T RAISE PAST 3K, AND IT WOULD SHIFT HARD INTO GEAR. THIS IS MY 2ND COMPLAINT TO YOU GUYS ABOUT THIS FRIGHTENING AND DANGEROUS ISSUE OF MY JEEP COMMANDER ENGINE STALLING PROBLEMS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND THE TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE IGNITION SWITCH SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND PERSISTED FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT LEAST FOUR TIMES FOR THE FAILURE WHERE THE STARTER WAS REPLACED TWICE. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THE DEALER WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,400.

THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THIS FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAS AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED ON MARCH 9, 2009. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,800.
VEHICLE STALLS AND DRIVER LOSES COMMAND OF ACCELERATOR, POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. HAPPENS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS BUT OBVIOUSLY MOST DANGEROUS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WHEN VEHICLE LOSES POWER, ALL GEAR INDICATORS LIGHT UP ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE VEHICLE INFORMATION SYSTEM DISPLAY READS "SERVICE PARK ASSIST SYSTEM" AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS. RECOMMENDED DEALER REPAIR IS THE REPLACEMENT OF THE "ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE". THIS TEMPORARILY SOLVES THE PROBLEM BUT RECURS WITHIN A FEW THOUSAND MILES. *TR
ON OR ABOUT THE ABOVE DATE THE RPMS ON MY VEHICLE RACED UP AND THE CAR SUDDENLY LUNGED FORWARD, IT HAPPENED AGAIN A FEW TIMES AFTERWARD WITHOUT ANY CHECK ENGINE CODES. I HAD IT CHECKED BACK THEN AND NOTHING WAS FOUND BECAUSE NO CODES WERE PRESENT.THIS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES A YEAR SINCE I OWNED IT, BUT NOTICED IT HAPPENS WHEN IT'S RAINING. TODAY 3/12/2013 (HEAVY RAIN) MY WIFE WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND IT RACED & LUNGED FORWARD JUST MISSING A PEDESTRIAN. I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT IT TO A NEIHBORHOOD JEEP DEALER & EXPLAINED THE SEVERITY OF THE SITUATION. HE WAS VERY ACCOMODATING AND TOOK IT IN IMMEDIATELY. AFTER A FEW HOURS IN THE SHOP & A TEST DRIVE ,AGAIN, NOTHING FOUND. THERE WERE NO ENGINE CODES PRESENT, ALL OTHER COMPONENTS WERE WITH-IN SPECS. I ASKED IF THIS IS A SIMILAR PROBLEM TO THE 2006 RECALL, HE SAID POSSIBLY, BUT THIS VIN. IS NOT UNDER RECALL. (I BELIVE THE 2006 RECALL WAS THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE.) I AM NOT SURE WERE TO GO WITH THIS BUT THIS NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED BY JEEP BEFORE AN ACCIDENT HAPPENS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THREE MONTHS LATER, THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED AND THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED AND CODE WAS CLEARED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE JERKED ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED AND A NEW COMPUTER WAS INSTALLED BUT FAILED TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. ABOUT 9 TIMES OVER THE LAST 3 YEARS, MY JEEP COMMANDER 2007 LIMITED V8 HAS STALLED WHILE MOVING CAUSING THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS INCLUDING LIGHTS, RADIO, DASHBOARD PANEL, ETC TO MOMENTARILY TURN OFF. EACH TIME, THE STALL IS ACCOMPANIED BY A LOUD "CLUNKING" NOISE. IN EACH INSTANCE I HAVE BEEN TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE 60+ MPH. I AM ABLE TO RESTART EVERYTIME BY EITHER PULLING OVER OR PUTTING THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL, RESTARTING THE ENGINE, AND THEN PUTTING IT BACK INTO DRIVE WHILE MOVING. I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS WITH THE DEALERSHIP ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO UNLESS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WHICH HAS NEVER OCCURRED. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO BOTH OF THE PRIMARY DRIVERS OF THE VEHICLE, AND THE IGNITION SWITCH HAS NEVER BEEN ACCIDENTALLY TURNED OFF. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. IT HAS BEEN STALLING (BUT NOT CUTTING OFF COMPLETELY) FOR SOMETIME. WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 28 2009 IT BEGAN TO STALL AND CUT OFF. IT WOULD ALSO REV UP TO ABOUT 3000 RPMS WHILE SITTING STILL. WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT ON THE SAME DAY IT DID THE SAME AND LUNGED FORWARD AT THE SAME TIME (WITH MY FOOT ON THE BREAK). LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE COMING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. IT HAS BEEN AT A CERTIFIED JEEP DEALERSHIP TWICE IN THE LAST WEEK, THIS TIME FOR THREE DAYS - SO FAR! I AM BEING TOLD THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG. A VEHICLE CUTTING OFF IN TRAFFIC AND GOING FORWARD ON ITS OWN SEEMS TO ME TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. *TR

ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 15 MPH, THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE AND ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS FAILED. HE WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT ONCE IT WAS PLACED INTO REVERSE, THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURES. THE DEALER SUGGESTED NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE FAILURES MAY HAVE BEEN RELATED TO GROUNDING IN THE WIRING SYSTEM. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE TO DATE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 38,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
