TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, ALL OF THE LIGHTS IN THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
SINCE I PURCHASED MY JEEP COMMANDER I HAVE EXPERIENCE TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE WHILE DRIVING ON MANY OCCASIONS. THIS HAPPENS APPROXIMATELY EVERY 6 MONTHS. WHILE DRIVING IN SPEEDS VARYING FROM 20 - 70 MILES AN HOUR MY CAR WILL LOSE POWER. PRIOR TO LOSING POWER ALL DASH LIGHTS, TACHOMETERS, HAZARDS, WARNING LIGHTS AND PERFORMANCE INDICATORS WILL FLASH REPEATEDLY, VERY QUICKLY. WITHIN MOMENTS OF THE FLASHING LIGHTS MY GAS WILL SHUT OFF, MY BRAKE SYSTEM COMPLETELY FAILS AND MY STEERING WILL COMPLETELY LOCK UP. I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO WAY OF CONTROLLING MY VEHICLE IN ANY MANNER. SEVERAL TIMES MY VEHICLE HAS STOPPED IN MAJOR TRAFFIC. NUMEROUS TIMES OTHER VEHICLES HAVE HAD TO MAKE DRASTIC MANEUVERS TO AVOID CRASHING INTO MY CAR. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED AND WAS NEARLY T-BONED WHEN MY CAR DIED AS I ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN. IN THE EVENT THAT I AM HIT, MY AIRBAGS HAVE NO POWER AND WILL NOT DEPLOY. MY WINDOWS AND LOCKS HAVE NO POWER. MY CHILDREN AND I COULD BE TRAPPED IN MY CAR. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED IT AT AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT AND WILL NOT PROVIDE A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE THAT IS NOT A DEATH TRAP. I HAVE CALLED THE CHRYSLER RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER AND WAS TOLD NO PARTS ARE AVAILABLE AND HAVE NO INDICATION AS TO WHEN OR IF THERE EVER WILL BE. I CANNOT SELL MY CAR BECAUSE NO ONE WILL BUY IT KNOWING IT HAS SUCH MAJOR SAFETY ISSUES. THIS IS THE ONLY VEHICLE I OWN. I HAVE 3 CHILDREN THAT DRIVE IN THIS CAR EVERYDAY. ONE OF MY CHILDREN HAS CANCER AND I NEED A SAFE RELIABLE CAR TO TAKE HIM FOR CHEMOTHERAPY TREATMENTS. CHRYSLER IS NOT ACCEPTING ANY RESPONSIBILITY EVEN THOUGH I WAS MAILED A RECALL NOTICE. PLEASE HELP!!!!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE ENGINE WOULD EXHIBIT AN UNUSUAL INCREASE IN RPMS AND THE VEHICLE WOULD ABNORMALLY ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY INSPECTED AND RAN A DIAGNOSTIC BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT LEAST THREE TIMES FOR THE EXACT SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE NOT A FACTOR. WHILE DECELERATING, ALL OF THE INDICATORS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FLASHED AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY FAILURES. AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE WOULD IMMEDIATELY RESTART. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AND THEY STILL CANNOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT SEEM TO TROUBLESHOOT THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000. I OWN A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER AT ABOUT 10,000 MILES IT STARTED TO STALL AND TURN OFF. DEALER DID NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS ONLY FLUSHED THE ON BOARD COMPUTER AND UPDATED THE SOFTWARE. MONTHS LATER IT STARTED TO DO THE SAME THING. DEALER DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND PERFORMED THE SAME TASK OF FLUSHING THE COMPUTER AND UPDATING ITS SOFTWARE. TWO YEARS AND 23,000 MILES AND THE CAR IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY SO I'M GOING BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT I DON'T THINK THEY WE FIX THE PROBLEM . TR

THE STARTER WAS REPLACED AND VARIOUS FUSES WERE EXAMINED YET THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. ALL THE GEAR SELECTIONS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE, RADIATOR, SPARK PLUGS, AND MULTIPLE PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VIN WAS LATER INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WE HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL MONTH WITH NO RESULTS FROM CHRSYLER CORPORATION OR THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN IT RAINS WATER IS COMING INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELT IS ALWAYS WET, WATER IS COMING IN THROUGH THE PANEL, WATER IS ON THE FLOOR AND IN THE CUP HOLDERS. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND IT HAS BEEN LABEL AS A LEMON. HOWEVER, WE HAVE NOT HAD ANY RESULT FROM CHRYSLER. THE RADIO WOULD NOT TURN OFF, THE WINDOWS WOULD NOT COME DOWN, AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK. THIS WAS THE LAST STRAW. WATER IS CONSTANTLY LEAKING INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE FROM THE ROOF. THE VEHICLE HAS A MILDEW SMELL INSIDE. HOWEVER, THIS DILEMMA ABOUT TO COME TO A CLOSE. BUT HAS TAKEN A TURN FOR THE WORSE. I GREGORY HAILEY WAS INFORMED THAT ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2008 THAT I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE PROCESSION OF A VEHICLE, BECAUSE OF SOME TECHNICALITY BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP, CHRYSLER FINANCIAL AND THE THIRD PARTY INDIVIDUAL THAT IS HANDLING THIS MATTER. I AM DEEPLY UPSET WITH CHRYSLER AS A WHOLE IN THE WAY THEY HAVE HANDLE THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A 2 YEAR PROBLEM BECAUSE IT DATES BACK TO 2006 ON THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING MY ASSISTANCE SYSTEM BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON I WAS DRIVING 30MPH AND HAD TO PULL OVER THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OR GO OVER 30 MPR AT 31,505 MILES ON IT AND THE EMS ELECTRIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT MODULE. HAS TO BE REPLACED. 4 YRS LATER MILEAGE AT 82,000 MILES THE SAME PART HAS TO BE REPLACED.THIS TIME I WAS ON INTERSTATE 94 DRIVING 60MPR AND THE LIGHTS CAME ON I PULLED OFF INTERSTATE AND WHEN I PULLED INTO GAS STATION THE CAR PULLED AND LUNGED I TURNED IT OFF WAITED AND TURNED BACK ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT 30MPR IT WOULD NOT GO PAST 30MPR. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND ALL THEY CAN SAY IS HOLD ON TO YOUR RECEIPTS AS THIS PART IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THIS MALFUNCTIONS HAS CAUSED ME TO NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN MY CAR. I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE MY CAR WITH MY DAUGHTER IN IT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT NOTICED A FLAT METAL PLATE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE THAT WAS STRIKING AGAINST THE STOPPER, CAUSING A DEEP GASH. THE STOPPER IS A CURVED METAL PLATE THAT CONTROLS THE STEERING WHEEL FROM TURNING TOO FAR LEFT OR RIGHT. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO FAULTY DESIGN. THE TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDED THAT A DIAGNOSTIC BE PERFORMED. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. SHE WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 19,000.
HVAC AND DEFROST DIRECTS COLD AIR ONTO WINDSHIELD WHILE SENDING 175 DEGREE FAHRENHEIT HOT AIR TO BOTTOM VENTS AIR IS NOT MIXING PROPERLY. JEEP DEALER WILL NOT MAKE REPAIR, SAYING "THIS IS HOW HVAC WORKS". DUE TO COLD AIR BLOWING FROM THE DEFROSTER ON WINDSHIELD, WINDSHIELD BUILDS UP WITH ICE AND SNOW, AND DOES NOT DEFROST PROPERLY. *TR
ERIE, PA 11/3/08 SEARCH UNDER RUMSEY, JOANN THE NEWSPAPERS DESCRIBE IT ALL AND PICTURES SPEAK A THOUSAND WORDS. THIS 2007 JEEP COMMANDER CRASHED BY STALLING AT A HIGH SPEED CLAIMING THE LIVES OF A YOUNG WOMAN 40 YEARS OLD AND HER 2 CHILDREN WHO WERE 4 YRS OLD AND 18 MONTHS OLD. PLEASE SEARCH AND REVIEW THIS INCIDENT BEFORE SELECTING TO PUT YOUR FAMILY IN A BRAND NEW JEEP VEHICLE. A 5 STAR CRASH RATING WILL NOT DO MUCH GOOD IF THE VEHICLE STALLS AT A HIGH SPEED AND THE DRIVER IS UNABLE TO CONTROL SUCH VEHICLE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE. THE MOST RECENT FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. THE VEHICLE THEN IMMEDIATELY RESTARTED. THERE WAS NO WARNING BEFORE THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND NO CODES APPEARED AFTERWARDS. THE VEHICLE IS VERY DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR A WEEK, BUT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THEY ALSO HOOKED UP A SCANNER TO THE VEHICLE, BUT THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,901. UPDATED 03/12/09. *LJ UPDATED 03/16/09. *JB
2007 JEEP COMMANDER WINDSHIELDS ARE FLAWED, AND CRACK EASILY. SPREADING ACROSS THE WHOLE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED ONCE SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED IT IN APRIL 08, AND 1/2 YEAR LATER BOTH SIDES HAVE CRACKS IN IT. I BELIEVE THE DESIGN OR CURVE MAY BE TOO 'FRAGILE' FOR SAFETY, NOT TO MENTION MY BUDGET! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE ENGINE STALLED UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE PROCEEDING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE ENGINE RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WITH THE GEAR SHIFTER PLACED IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION. THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE FAILURES OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU). THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE ECU; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON A SEPARATE OCCASION. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THIS PROBLEM BEGAN IN THE FALL OF 2008. TYPICALLY, AFTER SHIFTING THE CAR INTO DRIVE, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST IDLE SPEED, HAVE A MODERATE BUCKING, ALL GEAR SELECTOR LIGHTS ON THE DASH WERE BOXED IN, AND AN ERROR MESSAGE WOULD READ "SERVICE PARK ASSIST SYSTEM". THE PROBLEM WAS SERVICED UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP CHECKED WIRES AND CONNECTORS, AND REPLACED THE BEZEL ASSEMBLY ON SHIFTER. THIS SEEMED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM UNTIL RECENTLY. BEGINNING A FEW MONTHS AGO, AROUND THE BEGINNING OF 2012, I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS: ALL GEAR SELECTOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, NO ACCELERATION FOR 10-15 SECONDS, AND SERVICE PARK ASSIST SYSTEM MESSAGE. THE PROBLEM OCCURS ALMOST ALWAYS IN THE MORNING ON THE WAY TO WORK, SCHOOL, ETC.. IT HAS NEVER LASTED LONGER THAN 15-20 SECONDS ON ANY DAY, AND SEEMS TO OCCUR APPROXIMATELY ONE TO TWO TIMES PER WEEK, OVER THE LAST 4 WEEKS. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT LATER THIS WEEK AT A DEALER TO CHECK OUT THE PROBLEM. BUT READING SEVERAL INTERNET SOURCES, THIS OBVIOUSLY NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE, AS THERE ARE MANY ACCOUNTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM. *JS
THE ABOVE INFORMATION WAS FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE CAR WILL STALL OUT OF NO WHERE DUE TO THE ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE. I HAD IT REPLACED 11/08 WHICH WAS ONLY A YEAR AFTER THE CAR WAS MADE. IT IS COMPLETELY ACTING UP AGAIN AND THE MODULE NEEDS REPLACED AGAIN. I UNDERSTAND THAT THEY HAVE NOT RECALLED THIS ISSUE BUT THERE ARE OVER 145 COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE BUT YET ON YOUR WEBSITE IT SAYS A RECALL IS NECESSARY WHEN THERE IS A SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE OR EQUIPMENT. A SAFETY DEFECT IS DEFINED AS A PROBLEM THAT EXISTS IN A MOTOR VEHICLE OR ITEM OF MOTOR VEHICLE EQUIPMENT THAT: POSES A RISK TO MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY. EXAMPLES OF DEFECTS CONSIDERED SAFETY-RELATED:STEERING COMPONENTS THAT BREAK SUDDENLY CAUSING PARTIAL OR COMPLETE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. ACCELERATOR CONTROLS THAT MAY BREAK OR STICK. CRITICAL VEHICLE COMPONENTS THAT BREAK, FALL APART, OR SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE, CAUSING POTENTIAL LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL OR INJURY TO PERSONS INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. ALONG WITH THE ABOVE I HAVE CHILDREN AND IF THEY ARE INSIDE THIS VEHICLE WHILE SOMETHING HAPPENS JUST WAIT UNTIL I SLAP THE LAWSUIT ALONG WITH THE MANY OTHERS AS A RESULT OF THIS ISSUE THAT NOBODY IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT. I ALMOST WAS REAR ENDED ON THE EXPRESSWAY BY VEHICLES GOING 75 MPH BECAUSE OF THE CAR STALLING/NOT WANTING TO ACCELERATE! I WANT ANSWERS AND I WANT THEM NOW!

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO DEALERS AND ONE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER 4X4. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN DECEMBER 2007. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND 30 MPH. AFTER SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF IT RESET ITSELF AND BEGAN TO DRIVE NORMALLY. ON ONE OCCASION, WHILE TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF LESS THAN 65 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CONTACT WAS ONLY ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. IT WAS ALSO DIFFICULT TO USE THE STEERING WHEEL; HOWEVER, IT RESET ITSELF AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. THE VIN WAS PROVIDED BUT NOT RECOGNIZED WHEN IT WAS ENTERED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 37,000.

THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT VARIOUS DIFFERENT SPEEDS WHEN HE NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD EXHIBIT AND UNUSUAL INCREASE IN RPMS YET THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I BOUGHT MY NEW 2007 COMMANDER IN SPRING OF 2008. LESS THAN 6 MONTHS LATER I'VE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. RANDOM LIGHTS COME ON AND GO OFF AT DIFFERENT TIMES. MOST RECENTLY I WAS IN CHICAGO ON A MAJOR FREEWAY AND MY CAR STALLED WHEN I SLOWED DOWN FOR TRAFFIC. AFTER TWO TRIES IT RESTARTED BUT MY DASHBOARD, LIGHTS, NAVIGATION SYSTEM WERE NOT WORKING. I DROVE TO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED MY CAR OFF. AFTER LETTING IT SIT FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES, I RESTARTED IT AND ONLY THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THIS TIME. MY DEALERSHIP INSTALLED A NEW IGNITION SWITCH A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO WHEN THE LIGHTS WERE COMING ON BUT THIS DID NOTHING TO HELP. I LEASE A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. I NOTICED, TO START, THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT A LOW SPEED. MORE RECENTLY HOWEVER, MY VEHICLE WILL OCCASIONALLY STOP ACCELERATING AT ABOUT 15 MILES PER HOUR. WITH MY FOOT FULLY ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GO ( THE ENGINE IS NOT STALLED ). IT DEFINITELY FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE IS SHIFTING AUTOMATICALLY INTO NEUTRAL WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE LIGHT ON MY CONTROL PANEL ILLUMINATES. THE PROBLEM HAS BECOME WORSE. THE VEHICLE WILL STOP ACCELERATING AT HIGHER SPEEDS AND THE PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, AND DRIVE SYMBOLS ALL ILLUMINATE ON MY CONTROL PANEL - SUGGESTING THAT I AM IN ALL THOSE POSITIONS. I HAVE A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER AND IT IS LESS THAN FOUR YEARS OLD AND I HAVE HAD THE STARTER REPLACED 4 TIMES. JEEP CAN'T EXPLAIN WHY THEY CAN'T FULLY FIX THE PROBLEM AND THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE COMMANDERS AT LARGE AND NOT MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE. IN ADDITION TO HAVING HAD THE STARTER REPLACED 4 TIMES, I HAVE ALSO HAD THE ELECTRONIC SHIFTING MODULE REPLACED AS WELL AND THE CRANKSHAFT. MY COMMANDER HAS LESS THAN 40,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED SINCE I PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW. JEEP HAS FAILED TO ADDRESS MY CONCERNS AND REFUSES TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR SELLING ME A VEHICLE. JEEP SUGGESTED I PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE AND I FIND THIS PREPOSTEROUS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE CAR IS LESS THAN FOUR YEARS OLD. THE COMMANDER IS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE AND JEEP NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. INSTEAD, JEEP REFUSES TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY AND THEY DECIDED TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM BY HALTING PRODUCTION. *TT
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER 4X4. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH IN DRY CONDITIONS, THE ENGINE FAILED AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CONTACT HAD TO WAIT A FEW SECONDS BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD RESTART. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE RPM GAUGES STOPPED WORKING. I OWN A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER WHICH I PURCHASED USED IN MAY OF 2007. MY JEEP STALLED ON ME AS I WAS SITTING IN TRAFFIC WITH NO WARNING. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL IT GETS WORSE. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THEY SCANNED THE VEHICLE AND NO ERROR CODES CAME UP. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND OUT THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH 2006 AND 2007 COMMANDERS. GOING FORWARD I AM GOING TO BE NERVOUS DRIVING MY VEHICLE FOR FEAR THAT THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN AND IT MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. FIRSTLY, THE EVENT THAT BROUGHT THIS LETTER ABOUT TOOK PLACE ON 03/28/2008 AT 7:30 PM. THE JEEP COMMANDER I OWN SMASHED INTO MY HOUSE. WE BEGAN BBQ-ING ABOUT 6:00 PM. WHILE THE FOOD WAS COOKING WE SAT IN MY JEEP WITH THE DOORS OPEN AND ENGINE OFF. (THE PORCH WAS WET) AFTER THE FOOD WAS DONE, I TOOK IT INSIDE AND MY 6 YEAR OLD SON DYLAN STAYED OUTSIDE TO PLAY FOR A FEW MORE MINUTES. DYLAN WAS IN THE FRONT SEAT PRETENDING TO DRIVE. THE KEYS TO THE VEHICLE WERE INSIDE THE HOUSE AND WE LIVE ON A SECLUDED PIECE OF LAND IN THE COUNTRY, SO I SAW NO HARM IN THIS. HOWEVER, A FEW MINUTES LATER WHEN I HEARD A CRASH AND FELT MY HOUSE MOVE, I HAD SECOND THOUGHTS! AT FIRST I DIDN'T ACTUALLY REALIZE WHAT HAD HAPPENED; I WAS SEARCHING THE HOUSE FOR WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED SUCH A RACKET. THEN MY SON CAME IN THE HOUSE HYSTERICALLY CRYING. ALL HE COULD MANAGE WAS, 'THE CAR, THE CAR'. AT FIRST I THOUGHT HE MEANT A TOY CAR AND THEN AS I RUSHED OUTSIDE TO FIND THE CAUSE OF HIS HYSTERIA I DISCOVERED MY JEEP HAD CRASHED INTO MY HOUSE. AS I WAS STUNNED AND STARING AT THE UNBELIEVABLE SITE BEFORE ME, MY SON WAS STILL PANIC-STRICKEN AND SOBBING. I THOUGHT AT FIRST THAT HE HAD TAKEN MY KEYS AND STARTED THE CAR, BUT THE CAR WASN'T RUNNING AND I FOUND MY KEYS NEATLY ON THEIR HOOK, AS ALWAYS. DYLAN COULDN'T MAKE ANY FUNCTIONAL SENTENCES TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED SO I BEGAN TO INVESTIGATE. I FOUND THE GEARSHIFT IN REVERSE, BUT THERE WERE NO KEYS IN THE CAR. SINCE I HAD RETRIEVED MY KEYS, I BACKED THE CAR UP TO ITS USUAL POSITION TO CHECK OUT THE DAMAGE. I CONTINUED MY INVESTIGATION AND FOUND THAT EVEN WITH NO KEY IN THE IGNITION AND NO FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE GEARSHIFT WOULD EASILY SHIFT FROM PARK TO ANY OTHER GEAR. SO DUE TO THIS MALFUNCTION, DYLAN'S INNOCENT PRETEND 'DRIVING' BECAME REAL AND RESULTED IN A REAL ACCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE SERIOUSLY INJURED HIM OR ONE OF MY OTHER CHILDREN AND DID REAL DAMAGE THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS MY HOUSE. *TR

ALBERT DODGE JEEP AND BOOKED IT IN FOR A CHECK. THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD FIND NOTHING AND THAT THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF ANY SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THESE VEHICLES. I TOLD THEM I WAS NOT PICKING IT UP UNTIL IT WAS RESOLVED AS I HAVE 4 YOUNG CHILDREN AND DO NOT WANT THE VEHICLE DYING ON ME AGAIN WHILE DRIVING. AT THIS POINT I WENT ONLINE TO SEE WHAT I COULD FIND AND WAS SHOCKED TO DISCOVER THAT 76 OTHER COMPLAINTS HAD BEEN LODGED NHTSA ACTION NUMBER EA07007. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THIS AND FOR ME TO BRING IN THE INFORMATION WHEN I PICK UP MY VEHICLE. *TR
NEW VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING AT CERTAIN SPEEDS. ALWAYS BETWEEN 35 AND 55 MPH ON ACCELERATION. HAS BEEN TO DEALERSHIP TWICE SO FAR AND TOLD NOTHING IS SHOWING FOR DIAGNOSTIC CODES. *TR
WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE MY VEHICLE HESITATES AND THEN SHUTS OFF. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD ILLUMINATE BUT THE CAR IS NO LONGER RUNNING. THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH AND HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE AND THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. *TR
