2008 JEEP COMMANDER, ENGINE WOULD REPEATEDLY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. IT WOULD HAPPENED AT ALL SPEEDS, FROM PULLING OUT TO DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I RECEIVED THE SAFETY RECALL P57/NHTSA 14V-567 OVER SIX MONTHS AGO WHICH STATED "CHRYSLER IS MAKING EVERY EFFORT TO PROVIDE THE PART AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE". THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT COULD END UP KILLING SOMEBODY IF IT HASN'T ALREADY. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT CHRYSLER CAN OPERATE IN THIS MANNER AND TAKE THIS LONG TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IT APPEARS THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS SAFETY AND THAT THEY ARE NOT TAKING THE RECALL SERIOUSLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE RESTART THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
I KNOW NOW THAT IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM, MY 2008 JEEP COMMANDER LOOSES POWER AS IM DRIVING AT A REGULAR SPEED. I PRESS THE GAS PEDAL AND DOES NOTHING THEN I PULL OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD TRY AGAIN, AND IT WORKS AGAIN. AFTER THE 5TH TIME I'VE BEEN TAKING IT TO 3 DIFFERENT DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR SHOPS BUT THEY CANT FIND THE PROBLEM BUT IT STILL DOES IT SOMETIMES. I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT BEFORE, I TAKE IT TO GET MAINTENCE MY HUSBAND JUST BOUGHT NEW TIRES, NEW BATTERY FOR IT, AND THIS HAPPENS.ALL IM JUST ASKING IS TO PLEASE TRY AND FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND FIX IT BECAUSE WE HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND EVERY TIME WE GO OUT, SHE GETS SCARED THINKING THAT THE CAR IN BACK OF US IS GOING TO HIT US. HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH JEEP STALLING. FOR 2 YEARS NOW IT HAS RANDOMLY STALLED AFTER PASSING OVER LARGE UNEVEN SURFACES IN ROAD. HAVE TAKEN IN TO CHRYSLER JEEP FACILITIES AND WAS TOLD NOTHING COULD BE DIAGNOSED. A NEW ISSUE IS WHEN I AM SIMPLY DRIVING THE VEHICLE WILL STALL. HAVING MY 3 SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR WHEN THIS HAPPENED YESTERDAY WAS BEYOND TERRIFYING. SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED WITH THIS PROBLEM THAT SEEMS TO BE A COMMONALITY IN JEEPS. THE CAR STARTS ON IT'S OWN WITHOUT A KEY!! IT DOES NOT HAVE REMOTE START, BUT I WILL BE WALKING AWAY FROM MY PARKED SHUT OFF CAR OR UP IN MY KITCHEN AND HEAR MY CAR SOUNDING LIKE THE PEDAL IS DOWN TO THE MEDAL. IT'S NOT JUST RUNNING, IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GOING TO BLOW-UP! IT'S HAPPENED 5 TIMES, MOST RECENTLY 2 DAYS AGO. IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMEBODY IS RACING THE ENGINE BUT IT'S IN PARK AND THE CAR WAS OFF. SOMETIMES IT'S HOURS LATER, OTHER TIMES WITHIN 20 MIN OF SHUT OFF. IT SCARES ME THAT IT WILL START DRIVING OR CATCH FIRE IN MY GARAGE!! THE CAR LITERALLY TURNS ITSELF ON!! AND IT'S NOT JUST ELECTRICAL BECAUSE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING!! I HAS 65000 MILES AND STARTED ACTING WEIRD AROUND 20000 WHEN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WOULD SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. CAR WOULD JUST SHIFT DOWN MID-DRIVE. IT WAS SCARING ME THAT MY CAR'S ENGINE WOULD SHIFT ITSELF DOWN D/TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS. NOW IT'S ON AND OFF ON IT'S OWN!! PLEASE HELP!! *TR
I HAVE HAD SEVERAL OCCURRENCES OF MY JEEP STALLING WHILE DRIVING. RANGE IN SPEEDS ARE FROM 5 - 60MPH. CHANGED A COMPUTER AND STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM. *JS
I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN ON A LOCAL ROAD, I WAS STARTING TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE CAR SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. I GLIDED SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. LOST POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES. THE RADIO AND HEADLIGHTS WERE STILL ON. I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION AND RESTART THE ENGINE. DIDN'T SEE ANY WARNING LIGHTS. I WAS ONLY GOING AT LESS THAN 10 MPH AND I WAS PULLING FROM A FULL-STOP. THE SAME THING HAPPENED 3 DAYS LATER. *TR
BEGINNING AROUND THE WEEK OF JUNE 7TH, I BEGAN EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH MY COMMANDER. I WOULD PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND IT WOULDN'T START. THE LIGHTS, RADIO ETC WOULD COME ON BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T "TURN OVER". AFTER A COUPLE OF ATTEMPTS, IT WOULD START. THE FOLLOWING WEEK WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY 95 IN BOSTON, THE CAR STOPPED UNEXPECTEDLY. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS VERY SHAKEN UP. I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AGAIN AND DROVE HOME. THE FOLLOWING DAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING AND I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. ON JUNE 14TH I HAD THE CAR TOWED THERE BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE. I WAS TOLD THAT I NEED A WIRELESS IGNITION MODULE BUT THERE WERE NONE AVAILABLE & CHRYSLER WAS WAITING ON IT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THERE WAS A WAITING LIST OF APPROX 1,700 CUSTOMERS WAITING FOR THIS PART AND SEVERAL HUNDRED, LIKE ME COULDN'T DRIVE THEIR CAR. I ESCALATED TO CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO HAVE CONTINUED TO GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND AND AS OF TODAY THEY HAVE NO STATUS ON THE PART. I HAVE BEEN PAYING FOR A RENTAL CAR SINCE 6/15. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND JUST BY TYPING IN THE NAME OF THE PART AND FOUND SEVERAL FORUMS WHERE OTHER JEEP OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. I BELIEVE THAT CHRYSLER NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS TO SEE IF THEIR IS A LARGER ISSUE OR AT LEAST MAKE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS AVAILABLE. *TR

PARKING ASSISTANT BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON. WHENEVER CAR IS DRIVEN OVER A BUMP LOUD CLANKING NOISE HAPPENS. TOOK CARE TO MUFFLER MAN THINKING IT WAS A BROKEN BRACKET HOWEVER THE MECHANIC SAID BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN OF THE PARKING BRAKE OVER THE CHASSIS IT RUBS AND HAS WORE DOWN THE RUBBER CASING THEREFORE THE BRAKELINE IS EXPOSED. WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS MY 2ND COMPLAINT AND NOW HAVE ANOTHER ISSUE TO ENTER. WHEN DOES THIS BECOME A LEMON LAW ISSUE? I WAS DRIVING TO PICK UP MY KIDS FROM SCHOOL AROUND 2:30 THAT AFTERNOON. WHEN COMING UP TO A GREEN LIGHT I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN AND EVERYTHING LOCKED UP IN MID TURN. GOOD THHING NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF ME OR I WOULD HAVE HIT THEM. THERE WAS A GAS STATION ON THE RIGHT & BECAUSE I WAS GOING 10 MILES AN HOUR BEFORE IT LOCKED UP I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO THE GAS STATION. IT SCARED ME SO MUCH BACAUSE I HAD NO CONTROL. I HAD A HALF A TANK LEFT SO I KNOW IT WASNT BECAUSE OF GAS. I HAVE HAD OTHER ISSUE TOO LIKE ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS COMING ON AT ONCE. TROUBLES AFTER I START IT THE CAR WILL DROP DOWN TO 1ST GEAR. WHEN ITS SET ON AUTO. KNOW ONE AT DEALERSHIP CAN FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. IM SO SCARE ITS GOING TO LOCK UP AGAIN ON ME AND CAUSE A WRECK & I HAVE 3 KIDS SO IM SCARE THEY WILL BE IN CAR WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN. *TR
AS YOU SPEED UP FROM A STAND STILL THE THROTTLE CONTROL INDICATOR FORCES THE CAR TO SLOW DOWN. HAVE TO PULL OVER TO SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN OFF THE CAR. START THE CAR BACK ON AND SLOWLY EXCEL, SOMETIMES THE THROTTLE WILL ACT UP AGAIN, AND HAVE TO TURN OFF CAR AGAIN. AND TODAY THE TRACTION INDICATOR TURNED ON WHILE DRIVING AND AS THE CAR SLOWED DOWN THE THROTTLE CONTROL FORCED MY HUSBAND TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE CAR. IT SEEMS TO ACT UP WHEN THE WEATHER GETS WARMER. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER LAST YEAR AND THE GAS PEDAL WAS REPLACED AND THEY ASSURED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. BUT THE CAR IS ACTING UP AGAIN. I AM PRETTY SURE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT IS EXPERIENCING THESE KIND PROBLEMS WITH THE JEEP COMMANDER. *TR
I'VE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY '08 COMMANDER FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW. THE SUNROOF LEAKED AND WATER GOT INTO THE DASHBOARD, SHORTING THE RADIO OUT. DEALER FIXED SUNROOF SEAL AND RADIO. ON THE DRIVE HOME FROM THE DEALER, DASHBOARD LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING. RETURNED TO DEALER THE NEXT DAY, BUT THEY COULD NOT LOCATE A PROBLEM. THREE DAYS LATER, CAR WOULD SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS WOULD FLASH. RETURNED TO DEALER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO "DUPLICATE" ISSUE. TECH FROM DEALER DROVE CAR FOR 1 DAY AND HE COULD NOT FIND AN ISSUE. ONE WEEK LATER, CAR SMELLED HORRIBLE OF FUEL AND CAR WOULD SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. RETURNED TO DEALER AND DEALER REPLACED O2 SENSOR. PICKED UP CAR AND ON MY WAY HOME, LIGHTS FLASHED, CAR STALLED AND SMELLED WORSE OF FUEL. IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO DEALER, DEALER REPLACED A SECOND O2 SENSOR. PICKED UP CAR, 5 MILES FROM DEALER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CALLED DEALER AND HE SAID TO DRIVE CAR UNTIL THE ENGINE "RESET"(ABOUT 10 MILES) OR UNTIL LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING, THEN BRING IT IN SINCE THEY CAN NOT FIND A REAL PROBLEM. ISSUE SEEMED TO RESOLVE FOR A COUPLE WEEKS OF NOT DRIVING CAR MUCH, BUT THEN THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS BEGAN FLASHING AGAIN, CAR SMELLED OF FUEL AND CAR SEEMED BOGGED DOWN. TODAY, CAR BARELY STARTED AND WAS VERY BOGGED DOWN. ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE, BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND FLASHED REPEATEDLY. CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 40MPH, SHOOK HORRIBLY AND FINALLY SHUT OFF. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR WITH MY CHILD INSIDE. I AM A DISABLED SINGLE MOTHER AND I NEED A DEPENDABLE CAR AND DEFINITELY NOT ONE THATS GOING TO KEEP COSTING ME MONEY. I HAVE A WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED WITH THE CAR, BUT IT SEEMS TO STILL COST AN ARM AND A LEG TO GET THIS CAR RUNNING FOR A FEW DAYS BEFORE IT CHOKES UP AGAIN. THIS CAR HAS SUCKED UP ALL MY SAVINGS AND STILL NO RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. *TR
VEHICLE WOULD START. ALL OTHER ELECTRICAL ITEMS WORKED. DEALER REPLACED WIRING HARNESS AT THE STARTER. FIRST INCIDENT WAS APRIL 2013. IT HAS NOW HAPPENED AGAIN DECEMBER 2014. BOTH TIMES LEFT STRANDED AND HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO MECHANIC. *JS
UPON DRIVING MY JEEP COMMANDER THE CAR WILL SLOW DOWN. YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTART AND SLOWLY EXCEL AND SOMETIMES IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAVE HAD THE TRACTION INDICATOR COME ON OCCASIONALLY. THE CAR ONLY HAS 87,000 MILES IS THIS PART OF THE RECALL? *TR
I STOPPED AT A STORE WHEN I CAME OUT THE CAR WOULDN'T START. TOOK CARE TO DEALERSHIP THE IGNITION MODULE WAS BURNT OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IGNITION SWITCH SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE INTO THE CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY HAVE REFUSED TO REPLACE THE SWITCH EVEN THOUGH I AM WILLING TO PAY ALL COSTS. THEY SAY THIS IS SUCH A BIG PROBLEM THAT THE SWITCHES ARE BEING RESTRICTED (CANNOT BE REPLACED UNLESS THERE IS CURRENT DANGER TO THE OWNER) BY CHRYSLER. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED APROX. 30 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS. *TR
IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE. LATEST RECALL INCLUDES 2008 CALLED AND DOES NOT INCLUDE MY VEHICLE. I THOUGHT THIS NIGHTMARE WAS FINALLY OVER. SINCE SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE HAS BEEN OCCURRING. COMPLETELY LOSES ALL POWER-STEERING, BREAKING..EVERYTHING COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN. HAS OCCURRED IN 80 MPH TRAFFIC IN DOWNTOWN ATLANTA, ON A RAILROAD TRACK (DUE TO BUMP) IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERACTION, SPEEDING UP TO MAKE A LEFT TURN INTO TRAFFIC ETC. TOOK EVERYTHING OFF KEY AND DID NO GOOD EXCEPT MADE ME LOSE MY EXTRA KEY THIS VEHICLE IS A DEATH TRAP. I OWE 18K+ AND CAN'T DRIVE IT OR I RISK MY LIFE AND THE LIFE OF MY CHILDREN. WAS REAR ENDED TWICE WITHIN A MONTH SO I GAVE UP AN STOPPED DRIVING. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V175000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM/POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. *TR
MY 2008 JEEP COMMANDER OVERLAND EDITION HAS SHUT OFF MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE I AM DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 60 + MPH. I LOOK ALL FUNCTION WHEN THIS HAPPENS; POWER STEERING, GAS, ELECTRICAL, ETC. I HAVE TO MAKE MY WAY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART IT. IT ALWAYS RESTARTS RIGHT AWAY. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN 4-6 TIMES TO ALLEN SAMUELS DODGE, JEEP IN KATY TX TO TRY AND HAVE THE PROBLEM DIAGNOSED. EACH TIME THEY KEEP MY CAR FOR MULTIPLE DAYS AND THEN TELL ME THEY CANNOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE AND AM GETTING NO HELP FROM THEM EITHER. THEY KEEP TELLING ME TO TAKE THE CAR IN TO GET IT LOOKED AT SO THEY CAN DIAGNOSE IT. YET EACH TIME I TAKE THE CAR IN TO GET A DIAGNOSIS, I AM CHARGED FOR A RENTAL CAR FOR A FEW DAYS, BUT THEN TOLD THEY CANNOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND THEY SEND ME ON MY WAY. WITHIN WEEKS, I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM OF THE CAR SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS IN THEIR 2008 JEEP COMMANDER. I AM AT A LOSS AS TO WHAT TO DO NOW. I FEEL THE CAR IS EXTREMEMLY UNSAFE, YET CHRYSLER IS DOING NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
AS I WAS SLOWLY PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THE CAR WAS COASTING SLOWLY INTO THE SPOT. I BEGAN TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO BEGIN STOPPING WHEN SUDDENLY THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. I TRIED TO PUMP THE BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED OVER THE CURB INTO THE BUILDING. THE AIRBAG NEVER DEPLOYED. I DID NOT HAVE MY FOOT NEAR THE ACCELERATOR DURING THIS TIME, THE FLOOR MAT WAS NOWHERE NEAR THE ACCELERATOR OR BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE. THE BRAKES FAILED TO WORK AND THE CAR ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN. *TR
ENGINE SUDDENLY STALLED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND RESTART THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC TODAY AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I CHECKED ONLINE AND FOUND THAT 2008 COMMANDERS AND GRAND CHEROKEES WERE SUBJECT TO A RECALL CONCERNING IMPROPERLY PROGRAMMED FRONT CONTROL MODULES. ACCORDING TO CHRYSLER MY CAR IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, HOWEVER WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CAR IS EXACTLY THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS THOSE LISTED IN THE RECALL AND SUPPORTING INFORMATION. *TR
STARTED JEEP, BACKED OUT OF PARKING SPACE, TURNED LEFT OUT OF PARKING LOT, DROVE 20 FEET TO STOP SIGN, JEEP STALLED WHILE WAITING FOR TRAFFIC TO CLEAR FOR LEFT HAND TURN. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE COULD DEPRESS THE HORN PAD UNTIL IT REACHED THE FRAME OF THE STEERING WHEEL HOWEVER, THE HORN WOULD NOT SOUND. ON JUNE 6, 2012 AT APPROXIMATELY 12 NOON WHILE DRIVING MY 2008 JEEP COMMANDER AT 15 MPH IT STOPPED AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS, IT DID NOT OVERHEAT, AND ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS SUCH AS THE RADIO, WINDOWS, LIGHTS, ETC CONTINUED TO WORK, ONLY A CLICKING SOUND AND IT WOULD NOT START. I HAD IT TOWED TO JEEP. BECAUSE THEY HAVE MAINTAINED MY VEHICLE SINCE I PURCHASED IT FROM CARMAX 16 MONTHS PRIOR. DEALER, STATED I MIGHT NEED A STARTER RECOMMENDING I AUTHORIZE TO PUT ONE ON COSTING ME $400. LATER THAT AFTERNOON I WAS TOLD THE ENGINE WAS LOCKED UP AND SINCE I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, CHRYSLER WOULD POSSIBLY ASSIST ME. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND WAS ASSIGNED A CASE MANAGER. HE FOUND THE DEFECT TO BE FROM THE FACTORY WHEREBY A SPRING IN THE VALVE BROKE CAUSING THE VALVE TO DROP DOWN IN THE ENGINE, WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO LOCK. PER THE SERVICE MANAGER, I NOR THE PREVIOUS OWNER ARE AT FAULT, AND EXPLAINED THIS TO THE CASE MANAGER. THE CASE MANAGER ASKED HIM, "WHAT DOES SHE WANT (MEANING ME) TO GIVE HER THE ENGINE FOR FREE"? OUR 2008 JEEP COMMANDER WAS HIT FROM BEHIND WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN. THE IMPACT CAUSED THE COMMANDER TO FLIP LANDING ON THE DRIVER SIDE ROOF AND THEN ROLLING ONTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHERE IT SLID INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE IMPACT FROM HITTING THE ROOF AND SIDE OF THE CAR RESULTED IN THE CAR BEING TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY OF THE PERSON AT FAULT. THE SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN THE CAR ROLLED ONTO IT'S SIDE. THE ENTIRE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS CRUSHED IN, THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR WAS PUSHED THROUGH THE WINDOW DUE TO THE IMPACT. AFTER THE VEHICLE ROLLED IT CAME TO REST ON THE DRIVER SIDE. I RECENTLY HAD AN ISSUE WHERE AFTER DRIVING MY VEHICLE, GOING INTO A BANK AND RETURNING TO START MY CAR, THE VEHICLE DID NOT START. I TRIED REPEATEDLY TO START THE VEHICLE BUT NOTHING WORKED. THERE IS TEARING AND FRAYING OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT WHICH IS CAUSING THE BELT TO GET STUCK IN THE LOOPS OF THE SEAT BELT MECHANISM AND MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO BUCKLE THE SEAT BELT. THE BIGGEST CONCERN IS IF IT DOES GET STUCK AND LOCK INTO PLACE WHEREIN I CANNOT MOVE OR OPEN THE BELT DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT GETS TIGHT THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD. THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WHEN THE RADIO SHUT OFF, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ENGAGED, ALL OF THE VEHICLE WARNING LIGHTS LIT UP IN THE DASH, AND POWER TO THE WINDOWS AND DOOR LOCKS WERE LOST AS WELL AS THE KEYLESS ENTRY. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT TO THE METRO JEEP DEALERSHIP IN JOHNSTON, RI. WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE FRONT CONTROL MODULE . LATER I RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT ON FEBRUARY 6TH 2008 THERE WAS A FACTORY RECALL OF 1338 2008 JEEP COMMANDERS WITH THE SAME SAFETY ISSUES AND RETURNED FOR REPAIR. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND INFORMED THEM OF MY SITUATION AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO FOR ME. I WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE MY COMPLAINT TO BE ISSUED AND FOR THESE MATTERS TO BE INVESTIGATED PROMPTLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ONE AND A HALF YEARS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V567000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE HWY AT 70 MPH NO WARNING THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. I PULLED OVER TO THE EMERGENCY LANE. SHUT OFF ENGINE AND IT STARTED BACK UP. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING MONTHLY ISSUE, SOMETIMES IT SHUT OFF 10 TO 15 MINUTES AFTER I HAVE BEEN DRIVING. SOMETIMES THE ENGINE COMES ON FOR A FEW DAYS AND GOINGS OFF. IT HAS BECOME A DANGEROUS SITUATION, WHEN DRIVING I HAVE STAY IN THE RIGHT LANE SO IF IT HAPPENS I WONT BE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE. THIS RECENT TIME ON NOVEMBER 30, 2012 WAS TRAVELING WITH BUSINESS CLIENTS, SEVERAL OTHER TIMES WITH MY WIFE AND GRANDCHILDREN. TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THEY HAVE TESTED ON THEIR EQUIPMENT (CHARGE ME UP TO OVER $200.00 TO TEST) AND TOLD ME TECH COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG; REPLACE A SWITCH. THIS ISSUE HAS FORCED ME IN MY BUSINESS TO TRAVEL TO RENT A RENTAL CAR TO TRAVEL OUT OF THE TOWN AS BEFORE I DROVE MY JEEP. THIS IS EXPENSE AND MAKING A DECISION IF I NEED TO PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE: NOT A JEEP. *TR
