2008 JEEP COMMANDER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SEVERAL ISSUES WITH VEHICLE *TGW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE DEALER COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AS THERE WERE NO FAULT CODES. TWO DAYS LATER, THE DEALER REPLACED THE CRANK SENSOR. FOUR MONTHS LATER, THE CHECK ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ONE WEEK LATER, THE SAME LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. ON DECEMBER 2, 2009 THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THE STALLING CONTINUED AS WELL. THE CONSUMER ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE HESITATING AT TIMES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE. THEY ALSO REPLACED THE STREAM O2 SENSORS AND REST THE CONTROLLER. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN PULLING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. THE VEHICLE VEERED OFF TO THE RIGHT AND DROVE INTO A DITCH. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION CENTER AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE SUSPENSION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 8,000. I PURCHASED A NEW 2008 JEEP COMMANDER (W/APPROXI. 50 MI) FROM SANSONE'S ROUTE 1 AUTO MALL ON 6/11/09. WITHIN 48 HRS OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE (AT 150 MI) THE SHIFT GEAR AND TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED. ON 6/13/09 I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO JERSEY CITY, NJ. AFTER REACHING MY DESTINATION, I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK TO UNLOAD. WHEN I FINISHED, I COULD NOT SHIFT THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK WITHOUT ENGAGING THE SHIFT LOCK MANUAL OVERRIDE (AS DESCRIBED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL). DURING THIS TIME THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON AND THE ELECTRONIC VEHICLE INFO CENTER DISPLAYED 'SERVICE PARK ASSIST SYSTEM'. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO ALERT THEM OF THE PROBLEM AND I WAS ASKED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE SERVICED. ON THE WAY TO AVENEL FROM JERSEY CITY, THE VEHICLE DROVE WITHOUT ISSUE FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES. HOWEVER, AFTER PROCEEDING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AND STOPPING FOR A RED LIGHT, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO JERK AND WITH THE PEDAL PRESSED TO THE FLOOR, IT WOULD ONLY ACCELERATE TO 30 MPH. I DROVE AT THIS SPEED ON ROUTE 1 FROM JERSEY CITY TO NEWARK AIRPORT WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY OPENED UP AND THE VEHICLE SHOT OFF AT A HIGH SPEED. THANKFULLY, NO ONE WAS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH FROM NEWARK AIRPORT TO THE SANSONE DEALERSHIP IN AVENEL. DURING THE ENTIRE TRIP THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT REMAINED ON. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT SANSONE'S SERVICE CENTER AND I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE ISSUE WAS A FAULTY 'PRNDL' WIRE THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PART WAS ORDERED AND INSTALLED AND ON 6/16/09 I WAS TOLD THAT THE WIRE WAS REPLACED RESOLVING BOTH ISSUES'THE LOCKED SHIFT GEAR AND INABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE TUESDAY NIGHT. FOUR DAYS LATER I HAD THE SAME EXACT ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. MY FATHER HAS OWNED JEEP PRODUCTS FOR OVER 15 YRS AND HAS NEVER EXPERIENCED PERFORMANCE ISSUES OF THIS MAGNITUDE. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS VEHICLE IS DEFECTIVE AND BEYOND REPAIR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE LOST POWER ABNORMALLY AND DECELERATED TO 20 MPH. THE ETC AND ESP WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY TWICE AND THE COMPUTER WAS RESET BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,075 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,400.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD CONTINUOUSLY FAIL TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT LEAST NINE TIMES AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THREE STARTERS AND FOUR COMPUTER MODULATORS YET THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO STATED THEY WOULD RETURN HIS CALL BUT HAD NOT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,225 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,800.
I WAS CLEANING MY VEHICLE AND MOVED THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT TO A FOLDED POSITION TO ACCESS THE THIRD ROW SEAT. I HEARD A POP AND THE SEAT WOULD NO LONGER STAY IN AN UPRIGHT POSITON. IF THE SEAT IS PLACED UPRIGHT IT SWINGS BACK DOWN. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THE FRAME ON THE SECOND ROW WAS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY THEY GAVE ME A QUOTE OF $356.85 FOR THE PART AND $100.00 PER HOUR LABOR LASTING FROM 5-6HOURS. I WAS ALSO CHARGED $109.78 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE SEAT FIXED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE THIS IS MY FAMILIES SOLE MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN THAT REQUIRE SAFETY SEATS IN THAT PLACE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
1. I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT IN WHICH MY VEHICLE REAR-ENDED ANOTHER. MOST OF THE FRONT END OF MY VEHICLE WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE THAT WAS REAR-ENDED IS A TOTAL LOSS. 2. AT THE TIME OF IMPACT I WAS WEARING MY SAFETY BELT BUT IT DID NOT LOCK CAUSING MY UPPER BODY TO HIT THE STEERING WHEEL WITH GREAT FORCE. ALSO NONE OF MY AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. 3. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER TO MAKE THEM AWARE OF THE FAILURES. AT THIS TIME, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THESE PROBLEMS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HORN WAS FAULTY AND DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY IN HIS VEHICLE. HE MUST PRESS THE HORN WITH MUCH FORCE IN ORDER FOR IT TO SOUND. HE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER AND THEY INSTALLED A NEW HORN; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,200. UPDATED 04-20-09 *BF UPDATED 04/24/09.*JB
CRACKED WINDSHIELD -- MY WIFE'S 2008 JEEP COMMANDER HAS EXPERIENCED THREE CHIPS IN THE WINDSHIELD; ONE WAS REPAIRED, ONE DEVELOPED INTO A CRACK AND THE THIRD HAS REMAINED A "STAR." IN ADDITION, A CRACK DEVELOPED BELOW THE ONE CAUSE BY A PEBBLE. WE HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED RUST STAINS ON THE THIRD ROW SEATS WHERE THE SEAT FOLD-DOWN HINGES ARE RUSTING THROUGH THE LEATHER SEAT COVERINGS. *TR
2008 JEEP COMMANDER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO NOT RECEIVING REIMBURSEMENT FOR IGNITION SWITCH RECALL REPAIRS. *SMD THE WIRELESS IGNITION NODE WAS REPLACED. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE TWO DIAGNOSTICS WERE PERFORMED BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS GIVEN A GAS TREATMENT BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 08V059000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP COMMANDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY FOB FAILED TO START THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIN MODULE AND THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V567000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,260.
3RD ROW DRIVER'S SIDE SEATBELT HAS BROKEN TWICE SINCE WE PURCHASED JEEP COMMANDER IN MAY. DEALER REPLACED BROKEN SEATBELT IN DECEMBER 2008 AND IT BROKE AGAIN FEBRUARY 2009. THE FIRST TIME WHEN WE ARRIVED AT OUR DESTINATION OUR SON WAS STUCK AND COULDN'T GET OUT. THE SEATBELT WOULDN'T RELEASE. THE SECOND TIME HARD TO FASTEN SEATBELT. THE SEATBELT WOULDN'T LATCH. WE ARE NOT USING THAT SEAT BELT TILL IT IS FIXED. WE ARE FAMILY OF 7 SO WE USE ALL 7 SEATBELTS. THE CONSEQUENCE WOULD BE ONE OF OUR CHILDREN BEING SERIOUSLY INJURED DUE TO SEATBELT FAILURE. *TR
AFTER A NIGHT OF 28 WEATHER, NOTICED A CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE STEMMING UP FROM THE WIPER BLADE AREA, FORMING AN UPSIDE-DOWN "L" SHAPE ANGLED TO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. NO IMPACT FROM AN OBJECT HAD OCCURRED. UPON DRIVING THE SAME MORNING AND STOPPING AT A GAS STATION, WHEN I RE-ENTERED THE VEHICLE NOTICED THE EXACT SAME UPSIDE-DOWN L-SHAPE CRACK HAD OCCURRED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WHILE PUMPING GAS. AGAIN, THE CRACK APPEARED WITHOUT ANY IMPACT FROM AN OBJECT. THE TWO L-SHAPED CRACKS ARE SYMMETRICAL TO EACH OTHER, ONE ON EACH SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD, BOTH STEMMING FROM THE TWO WIPER AREAS, WHICH SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO HAVING THE DEFROST RUNNING DURING COLD WEATHER. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND WILL BE GOING THERE AFTER WORK TODAY. HOPEFULLY THIS WILL BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY WITH NO COST TO ME, AS IT SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE WINDSHIELD. *TR THE CONSUMER STATED THE CRACKED WINDSHIELD WAS ACTUALLY CAUSED BY THE IMPACT OF AN OBJECT AND NOT DUE TO DEFECTIVE GLASS. ON SATURDAY OCT. 25 AT 10AM WE WERE DRIVING THE COMMANDER AND ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND STAYED ON. THE RADIO AND ACCESSORIES CUT OFF AS WELL. THE COMMANDER WAS SERVICED AGAIN ON OCT. 27 FOR THIS ISSUE AND THEY REPLACED THE WIRELESS IGNITION AGAIN. NOVEMBER 4, 2008 THE COMMANDER STALLED AT 10:30AM WHILE IT WAS STATIONERY AND THEN AGAIN AT 11:05AM WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT. NOVEMBER 4, 2008-NOVEMBER 6, 2008 THE COMMANDER STAYED WITH THE DEALERSHIP OVER THE COURSE OF TWO DAYS TO SEE IF THEY COULD DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. NOVEMBER 14, 2008 MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE COMMANDER AT 12:30PM AND WAS STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION. SHE BEGAN TO SLOWLY LIFT HER FOOT OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE COMMANDER WENT FLYING INTO THE INTERSECTION. DECEMBER 8, 2008 THE VEHICLE SAT IDLE IN PARK FOR LESS THAN TWO MINUTES BEFORE THE ENGINE STALLED OUT. ALL ACCESSORIES REMAINED ON AND THE IGNITION SWITCH REMAINED IN THE 'ON' POSITION, BUT THE ENGINE WAS STALLED. DECEMBER 15, 2008 WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT, THE COMMANDER BEGAN TO SHAKE AND THE RPM GAUGE SLIPPED BELOW A READING OF 0.5. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN ONGOING WITH THE COMMANDER. DECEMBER 20, 2008 AT APPROXIMATELY 10 AM AND WAS STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT. THE ENGINE OF THE COMMANDER REVVED UP WHILE SHE HAD HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE ENGINE REV LASTED APPROXIMATELY TWO TO THREE SECONDS IN LENGTH GOING UP TO 2.5 RPM. DECEMBER 29, 2008 BROWN AND WOOD SERVICED THE JEEP AGAIN AND INSTALLED A PURGE VALVE/SOLENOID. IT WAS SERVICED FROM 8:30AM-9:30AM. DECEMBER 30, 2008 MY WIFE GOT INTO THE COMMANDER AT APPROXIMATELY 5 PM THIS EVENING. SHE STARTED THE COMMANDER AND LEFT THE VEHICLE IN PARK WHILE COMPLETING A TELEPHONE CALL. WITHIN THREE MINUTES OF STARTING THE VEHICLE THE ENGINE STALLED. JANUARY 5, 2009 MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 12:10 PM. SHE WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND WAS PREPARING TO RESUME DRIVING AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN WHEN THE COMMANDER'S ENGINE STALLED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 5-25 MPH, THE ENGINE JERKED WHEN THE GEARS WERE SHIFTED. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND FOUND MULTIPLE FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WILL BE NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE IT COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,800 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
VEHICLE HAS ROLLED BACK 3 TIMES ON ITS OWN AFTER BEING STARTED WHILE TRANS WAS STILL IN PARK. DEALER CLAIMS THERE IS NO PROBLEM TO BE FOUND. CHILD SAFETY LATCH ON DOOR HAS FAILED. POWER WINDOW REPEATEDLY GOES UP AND DOWN. INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS UP COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING. FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM COMES ON WHEN NOT NEEDED AND STAYS ON. SQUEAK IN RIGHT REAR SUSPENSION. OTHER WORK HAS BEEN DONE ON VEHICLE THAT I CAN DOCUMENT. VEHICLE HAS APPROX. 8,450 MILES. *TR
2008 JEEP COMMANDER LIMITED 5.7L HEMI PURCHASED NEW FROM DEALER. AUDIO GOES OUT. AUDIO IS INTEGRATED WITH NAVIGATION SO AUDIO IS OUT AND NOT AUDIBLE SO NAVIGATION SYSTEMS IS RENDERED USELESS AND DRIVER HAS TO LOOK AT SCREEN WHILE DRIVING. SOFTWARE UPDATE HAS BEEN DONE ATLEAST ONCE AND SYSTEM HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE. PROBLEM STILL OCCURS AND IS SPORADIC. I HAVE OWNED VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 4 + MONTHS. *TR
SEVERE COLLISION WITH THE FRONT END OF MY VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING AT APPROX 50 MPH WHEN THE CAR AHEAD SUDDENLY STOPPED. I APPLIED MY BRAKES AND SKIDDED INTO THE OTHER VEHICLE'S REAR END. FROM THE SKID MARKS STARTING AT THE POINT OF CONTACT MY VEHICLE TOOK APPROX ANOTHER 35 FEET TO STOP. I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE'S SPEED WAS 30 MPH. IT WAS A SOLID HIT AS MY VEHICLE NOSE DIVED AND HIT BUMPER TO BUMPER. THE REAR OF THE OTHER VEHICLE'S BUMPER WAS FORCED DOWN TO THE GROUND AND GOUGED THE PAVEMENT. MY VEHICLE THEN CONTINUED TO CRUSH IN THE ENTIRE REAR OF THE CAR AND MY HOOD STRUCK THE REAR WINDOW. THE OTHER CAR THEN TRAVELED ABOUT 50 FEET FURTHER RESTING UPON A TELEPHONE POLE. I BELIEVE THAT THE IMPACT WAS SEVERE AND OF SUFFICIENT SPEED THAT THE AIR BAGS AND OR THE SEAT BELT RETRACTORS SHOULD HAVE ENGAGED. I WAS SEAT BELTED IN AT THE TIME OF THE IMPACT BUT STILL RECEIVED A MINOR CONCUSSION AND WHIPLASH. MY VEHICLE'S DAMAGE WAS QUITE SEVERE AND IS ESTIMATED IN EXCESS OF $14,000.00. BOTH FRAME RAILS ARE BENT AND AT THE VERY LEAST THE LEFT ONE WILL NEED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE A, 2008 JEEP COMMANDER WAS PURCHASED NEW BY MYSELF IN MAY 2008. ALL WARNING LIGHTS WERE OFF AND ALL SYSTEMS NOTE NO PROBLEMS. BY THIS I MEAN THAT THE AIR BAG LAMP AND SEAT BELT LAMP STILL OPERATE EVEN AFTER THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE BODY SHOP AND AWAIT YOUR ADVISE AS HOW TO PROCEED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN APPRAISED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY, AND EVEN THEIR ADJUSTER ALONG WITH THE POLICE, EMERGENCY PEOPLE HAVE ALL QUESTIONED AS TO WHY MY SAFETY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DISASSEMBLED NOR HAS ANYONE MESSED WITH THE VEHICLE BEFORE OR AFTER THE CRASH. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER, AND I HAVE HAD IT IN TO THE DEALER ABOUT 3 OR 4 TIMES NOW OVER STALLING ISSUES. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER THOUGHT IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE MAP SENSOR, WELL IT STALLED OUT THE LIKE 1-2 DAYS LATER. THEN THEY THOUGH IT NEEDED A TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE UPDATE. JUST THE OTHER DAY MY FAMILY AND I WERE COMING HOME FROM MY INLAWS AND IT STALLED AGAIN AND THIS TIME IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTER SECTION AND I WAS SO MAD. I GOT A CALL THE MORNING OF 10/14/2008 AND THEY THINK ITS THE FUEL PUMP NOW, COME ON IT HAS ONLY 14K MILES ON IT AND WE BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW LAST NOVEMBER AND ALL OF THIS STARTED HAPPENING AT THE BEGGING OF SEPTEMBER. DRIVING ON HWY 51 IN TULSA. MY 2008 JEEP COMMANDER STALLED AT 55-60 MPH. COASTED TO AN OFF RAMP, PUT IN PARK AND IT RESTARTED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP IN BROKEN ARROW, OK. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME I HAVE TO HAVE A CODE READING BEFORE THEY CAN DO ANYTHING, AND BECAUSE IT WAS THE FIRST TIME IT MAY NOT PRODUCE A CODE, IF SO, THEY COULD DO NOTHING AND GOOD LUCK. JEEP WOULD NOT START. STARTER CONTINUED TO TURN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. WAS ABLE TO GET ENGINE STARTED ONCE BUT STARTER DIDN'T DISENGAGE. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO INVESTIGATE IT FOR FOUR DAYS (THURS. - SUNDAY) WHEN I CALLED ON MONDAY AFTERNOON THEY COULD NOT LOCATE MY VEHICLE IN THE COMPUTER. I CONTACTED THE SERVICE MANAGER. HALF AN HOUR LATER THEY TOLD ME MY JEEP NEEDS A NEW FUEL PUMP AND WOULD BE READY TOMORROW AFTERNOON. THEY COULDN'T FIND IT EARLIER BECAUSE THE TECHNICIAN DID NOT ENTER THE VEHICLE IN THE COMPUTER UNDER MY NAME. THE JEEP IS 2 MONTHS OLD WITH ONLY 1600 MILES ON IT. I ONLY GOT A RENTAL CAR FOR MY TROUBLES BECAUSE I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. NORMAL WARRANTY MAKES NO PROVISIONS FOR A LOANER VEHICLE. THIS IS NOT THE 5 STAR SERVICE I HAVE COME TO EXPECT. A BRAND NEW VEHICLE THAT DOESN'T START SHOULD RECEIVE PRIORITY STATUS. I HAVE OWNED TWO JEEP COMMANDERS. 1ST WAS A 2006 COMMANDER THAT I LEASED. SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE WINDSHIELD CRACKING EASILY. I HAD TO REPLACE 2 WINDSHIELDS ON THE VEHICLE. I TRADED IT IN AND PURCHASED A 2008 COMMANDER. WITHIN ONE WEEK, I ALREADY HAVE A ROCK CHIP. SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT WITH THE WINDSHIELDS THEY ARE PUTTING ON THIS VEHICLE. *TR
ONE MONTH AFTER PICKING UP MY 2008 JEEP COMMANDER I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 70MPH. A ROCK FROM A TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD NEAR THE FRAME IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER. I COULD NOT INITIALLY SEE THE CHIP. I PARKED THE CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE CAR AN HOUR LATER THE CHIP HAD EXPANDED INTO A 12 INCH CRACK THAT CONTINUED TO GROW OVER THE COURSE OF THE NEXT WEEK. I FILED A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND HAD THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD REPLACED. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST BAD LUCK UNTIL READING THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE INFERIOR COMMANDER WINDSHIELD. *TR
WINDSHIELD OF 2008 JEEP COMMANDER HAS CRACKED TWICE IN LESS THAN THE FIRST 1,000 MILES. BOTH TIMES WERE VERY SMALL AND SLOW ROCKS THAT WOULD NEVER DO ANY DAMAGE TO ANY OTHER WINDSHIELD I HAVE EVER OWNED. THIS IS AN EPIDEMIC! I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD LEAD TO A FUTURE SAFETY ISSUE! *TR
