TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SHE WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. FUEL OVERFLOWS AND SPILLS OUT OF GAS TANK OPENING WHEN FILLING UP. *TR
THE BEARINGS MELTED INTO THE HUB ASSEMBLY AND IT WORE OUT THE BRAKES AND RUIN ALL FOUR TIRES, NOW THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS ARE GOING OUT. I HAVE ONLY 43000 MILES ON THE CAR AND THE WARRANTY HAS RAN OUT AT 36000 MILES. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPEN WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE. ALIGNMENT WILL NOT STAY BECAUSE OF THE TIRES AND THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS. THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL BUT THE HUB, BEARINGS ARE NOT ABLE TO GEASED. SO THESE PARTS WEAR OUT SOONER THAN NORMAL. *TR
I WAS JUST HAD MY TIRES REPLACED AT 60,000 MILES AND WAS TOLD THAT BOTH LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE BAD . THIS IS A VERY LOW MILEAGE FOR THIS TO OCCUR.. I WAS QUOTED OVER $900 USD TO REPLACE BOTH LOWER CONTROL ARMS (WITH NEW BALL JOINTS) PLUS ALIGNMENT. *TR
I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP OF WHICH I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE THAT MY VEHICLE REQUIRES FRONT CONTROL ARMS AND TIE RODS WHICH WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATE OF ABOUT $900.00 TO CORRECT. MY VEHICLE HAS 17,000 MILES AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY, HOWEVER, I VIEWED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF THE SAME NATURE ON THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL VEHICLE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURER SINCE THERE WERE SO MANY IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS INDICATED ONLINE. THE DEALERSHIP REQUESTED I DO NOT DRIVE THIS VEHICLE UNTIL REPAIRED DUE TO A SAFETY ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO SAID THE ITEMS WHICH NEED TO BE REPAIRED WILL BE REPLACED WITH A BETTER QUALITY AND THIS OCCURRED ON MANY OF THESE VEHICLES FROM THIS PARTICULAR YEAR. *TR
WHILE FILLING THE FUEL TANK ON MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS, WHEN THE PUMP SHUT OFF, A LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS REGURGITATED FROM THE FILLER NECK SPILLING ALL OVER ME, THE GROUND AND MY CAR. *TR
BALL JOINT FAILURE. SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP COMPASS. I HAVE 55000 MILES AND HAVE NOTICED THE NOISE SINCE 50000. *TR
TOOK VEHICLE FOR YEARLY INSPECTION WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED, NEW. THEY WERE AT THAT TIME A CHRYSLER JEEP DEALER. IT DIDN'T PASS THE INSPECTION DUE TO THE POOR CONDITION OF THE BALL JOINTS - MILEAGE AT THAT TIME WAS ONLY 14,258. IT WAS SUGGESTED I CONTACT CHRYSLER TO NOTIFY THEM. THEY ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT TO A LOCAL QUALIFIED DEALERSHIP. IT WAS TAKEN FOR THEM TO CHECK THE BALL JOINTS. AFTER 2 WEEKS OF NOT DRIVING THE CAR DUE TO ITS DANGEROUS CONDITION, THE BALL JOINTS AND BOTH LOWER CONTROL ARMS WERE REPLACED AT A COST TO ME OF $214.00. THE TREATMENT I RECEIVED AND THE AMOUNT OF TIME IT TOOK THEM TO DECIDE TO DO THE JOB AT THE "QUALIFIED DEALER" WAS INEXCUSABLE. I FEEL CHRYSLER SHOULD OF TAKEN CARE OF THE COST OF THE REPAIR, SINCE IT WAS NOT DUE TO ANYTHING I DID BUT THE QUALITY OF THE PARTS INSTALLED ORIGINALLY. THIS COMPLAINT WOULD OF BEEN SUBMITTED EARLIER BUT I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE NHTSA. *TR
NO CRASH OR INJURY, HOWEVER THE INCIDENT INVOLVED WAS THAT THE TIE ROD ON THE LEFT FRONT SIDE ON MY JEEP COMPASS 2007 WAS LOOSE AND THE WHEEL WAS READY TO FALL OFF THE AUTO. THE JEEP 2007 HAD 72,900 MILES ORIGINAL. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ACCIDENTS OR ABUSIVE DRIVING WITH THE VEHICLE WHICH I PURCHASED FROM THE JEEP DEALER IN MILWAUKEE IN FEBRUARY 2010 WITH 68,000 ORIG. MILES AND IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. *TR
2007 JEEP COMPASS 4X4 WITH APPROX. 41,0000 MILES NEEDS TIE RODS LOWER BALL JOINT/ARM. BALL JOINTS ALSO CAUSES OWNER TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR ALIGNMENT AND REPLACEMENT OF TIRES SINCE DEFECTIVE BALL JOINT CAUSES TIRES TO WEAR UNEVENLY. I JUST PAID $2,000 TO HAVE MY COMPASS FIXED. I CHECK WITH JEEP BEFORE IT WAS FIXED THE 800 NUMBER SAID IT WAS COVERED UNDER THE 5 YR POWERTRAIN, I CALLED THE GARAGE WERE MY CAR WAS THEY SAID THEY DID NOT THINK SO THEN I CALLED THE DEALER WHO SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED. AFTER MY CAR WAS IN PIECES MY DEALER TOLD ME I SHOULD OF BROUGHT THE CAR THERE THEY MAY OF BEEN ABLE TO GET SOME HELP FOR ME. NICE TIME TO TELL ME WHEN IT WAS IN PIECES. I FILED A COMPLIANT WITH JEEP BUT SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD I WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. IF I HIT A POT HOLE I WOULD OF LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND HURT MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE. WHAT DOES IS TAKE FOR THE NHTSA TO MAKE JEEP RECALL THE 2007 COMPASS TO FIX THIS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. ARE WE GOING TO WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO GET KILLED BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE TO ISSUE A RECALL. HOW PEOPLE HAVE TO COMPLAIN BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE. . *TR
THE FRONT BALL JOINTS ON MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS HAVE RUSTED. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 3.5 YEARS AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 6 TIRES BECAUSE OF PROBLEMS. *TR
I GOT A FLAT TIRE ON MAY OF 2011, AFTER TAKING IT TO A TIRESHOP I WAS INFORMED THAT I NEEDED 2 LOWER CONTROL ARMS, AND TIRE RODS. THERE WAS ALSO UNEVEN WEAR ON THE FRONT TIRES. *TR
DEVELOPED A NOTICABLE VIBRATION.TOOK TO DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THE BALL JOINTS NEEDED REPLACEMENT AND THE VEHICLE WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. WHEN PICKED UP THE VEHICLE, INVOICE STATED 2 LOWER ARMS AND A TIE ROD WERE REPLACED. I HAVE DRIVEN MANY VEHICLES OVER 100,000 MILES AND NEVER HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THESE PARTS. THEREFORE I FEEL THEY WERE EITHER DEFECTIVE OR POORLY DESIGN ED AND THEY SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO RECALL REPLACEMENT OR INSPECTION. VEHICLE WAS ONLY DRIVEN ON LOCAL STREETS.
INITIALLY, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT ON THE RIGHT STOP WORKING. USED HIGH BEAM FOR AWHILE. TRIED HAVING BULB REPLACED. WORKED FOR A SHORT TIME. NO POWER GETTING TO HEAD LAMP.
WHILE TRAVELING IN HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH, MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS JERKED AND I LOSS ACCELERATION DOWN TO 40 MPH AND THEN IT WOULD NOT GO ANY FASTER EVEN WITH THE GAS PETAL DOWN TO THE FLOOR. GOT OFF HIGHWAY AND CAR ONLY WOULD GO 25 MPH. JUST HAD A TUNE UP TWO DAYS PRIOR TO THIS PROBLEM. WHEN THE CAR JERKED AND LOSS ACCELERATION, THE ENGINE CAME ON AND BEGAN TO BLINK AND RING. AFTER THE TUNE UP THE DEALERSHIP SAID EVERYTHING WAS GOOD. I GUESS THAT WASN'T TRUE. PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION? *TR
2007 JEEP COMPASS 4X4 WITH APPROX. 48,000 MILES HAS UNDERGONE IT'S 4TH REPLACEMENT OF THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT/ARM. THE REPLACEMENT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY WITH JEEP NOR RECALLED AT THIS TIME. EVERY YEAR AT TIME OF INSPECTION, THE JEEP COMPASS FAILS INSPECTION DUE TO BAD LOWER BALL JOINT. REPLACEMENT COSTS THE OWNER APPROX. $500 ANNUALLY. JEEP HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING TO CORRECT THIS DEFECT AT THE TIME. THE DEFECT IN THE BALL JOINT ALSO CAUSES OWNER TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR ALIGNMENT AND REPLACEMENT OF TIRES SINCE DEFECTIVE BALL JOINT CAUSES TIRES TO WEAR UNEVENLY. *TR
2007 JEEP COMPASS WITH APPROXIMATELY 52,300 MILES NEEDED LEFT AND RIGHT BALL JOINTS AND RIGHT OUTER TIE ROD REPLACED AT A COST OF $510. GIVEN THE FAIRLY LOW MILEAGE AND THE FACT THAT THIS AUTO IS DRIVEN ONLY ON PAVED CITY AND HIGHWAY ROADS THESE REPAIRS SHOULD NOT BE NECESSARY. OTHERS HAVE REPORTED ON THE WEB SIMILAR REPAIRS WITH BALL JOINTS/TIE RODS FOR THIS JEEP MODEL -- JEEP SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THIS MODEL FOR THIS DEFECT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD SQUEAKING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE REAR LOWER BALL JOINTS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE WITH THE LOWER BALL JOINTS THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SIDE TIE ROD HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT EXPERIENCE A FAILURE WITH THE TIE ROD. THE LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE NOT REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000. UPDATED 05/11/12 *BF UPDATED 05/21/12
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS 4X4. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING IN REVERSE APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH IN A RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY. THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED A LOUD CLUNKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEY DETECTED THAT THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A SUDDEN INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN EITHER THE ACCELERATOR OR BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE SIDE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AFTER BEING INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

2007 JEEP COMPASS LOWER BALL JOINT FAILURE AT 53,654 MILES. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. TOOK MY JEEP IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND FOUND MY DRIVERS LOWER BALL JOINT VERY CLOSE TO SEPARATING. NOT ONLY THAT BUT THE VERTICAL LOWER CONTROL ARM BUSHING WAS SEPARATED FROM THE ARM !! ONLY REASON THERE WAS NOT DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE OR MY LIFE WAS I HAD MY COMPASS SERVICED EARLY FOR THE 60K SERVICE. *TR

REAR TRAILING ARM BUSHINGS ARE WORN AND NEED REPLACING. VEHICLE HAD BEEN AT DEALERS FOR FLUIDS CHANGE AND INSPECTION. THEN WENT TO REPLACE REAR TIRES WHICH I THOUGHT HAD DELAMINATED BUT FOUND UNEVEN TIRE TREAD WEAR ON THE INSIDE. TIRE DEALER FOUND UPPER BUSHINGS WORN BEYOND TOLERANCES. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS 4X4. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN PULLING TO THE RIGHT. THE CONTACT SLOWED DOWN TO KEEP CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
METALLIC NOISES EMITTED FROM JEEP COMPASS 2007 MODEL FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE. IT WOULD CREAK WHEN TURNING AND WOULD FREQUENTLY LOSE CONTROL OF RIGHT SIDE TIRES IN ADVERSE WEATHER. HAVE FIXED BALL JOINT TWICE NOW AND SEEMINGLY WEARS DOWN OVER AND OVER. REVIEWING OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR THIS MODEL, THIS APPEARS TO BE THE NORM. A BROKEN DOWN BALL JOINT AND CONSEQUENT CRACKED AXIS WOULD MEAN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION: FLIPPING OFF THE ROAD, LOSING CONTROL AT HIGHER SPEEDS, ETC. THUS FAR WE HAVE AVOIDED SERIOUS INJURY BUT AT LESS THAN 30K MILES THIS SHOULD NOT BE A RECURRING ISSUE. *TR
2007 JEEP COMPASS NEEDED TIE ROD ENDS REPLACED AT ANNUAL INSPECTION AT 49000 MILES AND BALL JOINTS NEED REPLACED AT 70000 MILES! JEEP WILL NOT COVER THEM AND THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO MAKE THE BALL JOINTS HOW CONVENIENT. MECHANIC SAYS THEY ARE ONLY LASTING AN AVERAGE OF40-70K MILES AND TO GET RID OF THE VEHICLE. TIE ROD ENDS HAVE 25000 MILES ON THEM AND HE SAID WILL NEED REPLACED IN ABOUT A YEAR AGAIN! UPDATED 01/13/11*BF *TR

2007 JEEP COMPASS. AT APPROX 100K MILES I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR ROUTINE SERVICE. TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME THAT THE TIE RODS WERE BAD ON FRONT DRIVER SIDE, SHOWED ME PLAY IN THE WHEEL. SAID IT NEEDED TO BE FIXED. I AGREED TO HAVE NEW TIE RODS PUT ON. ONE MONTH LATER THE CAR BEGAN TO HANDLE ERRATICALLY, I TOOK BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND ASKED TO INSPECT THEIR PREVIOUS WORK AND SEARCH FOR THE HANDLING/STEERING PROBLEM. AFTER TWO HOURS THEY INFORMED ME THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. 7 MONTHS LATER, WHILE DRIVING WITH MY 6 MONTH OLD IN THE CAR THE FRONT LEFT CONTROL ARM BROKE AND THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL ACTUALLY BROKE OFF AT THE LOWER BALL JOINT WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. REPLACING CONTROL ARMS AND BALL JOINTS ON BOTH SIDES PLUS TWO NEW FRONT TIRES NETTED A TOTAL REPAIR COST OF $1400 ... THIS IS ON TOP OF THE PREVIOUS REPAIR COST TO REPLACE THE TIE RODS. *TR
I TOOK MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS 2X4 TO HAVE THE DRIVERS FRONT TIRE REPAIRED. THE REPAIR MAN FOUND THAT THE BALL JOINTS WERE BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. I CHECKED IT OUT ONLINE TO FIND THAT MANY JEEP COMPASS OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND ONLY HAS 41,375 ORIGINAL MILES. THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM. MY JEEP WAS PURCHASED FROM A DODGE CHRYSLER DEALER. I ASK THAT YOU FORCE JEEP CHRYSLER TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS DEFECT. *TR
TOOK MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION AND WAS TOLD THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINT ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WAS BAD AND THAT I SHOULD GET IT REPAIRED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE; THAT IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS TO LEAVE IT AS IS. I FOUND THIS WEBSITE AND FOUND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. MY CAR HAS 36,600 MILES ON IT. THE WARRANTY WAS UP AT THE END OF JULY. HOW CONVENIENT. I PLAN ON CALLING THE DODGE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IN THE MORNING AND SEEING IF THEY WILL BE ABLE TO HELP ME OUT WITHOUT THIS COSTING ME A FORTUNE. BROUGHT MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS IN TO HAVE THE ALIGNMENT CHECKED. I WAS TOLD BY OUR JEEP DEALERSHIP THAT BOTH OF MY BALL JOINTS ARE FAULTY AND THE CAR IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR 10 MONTHS AGO FROM THE SAME JEEP DEALERSHIP. WE DRIVE ONLY HIGHWAY AND THE CAR ONLY HAS 44,000 MILES ON IT. *TR

( WAS NOT DIAGNOSED UNTIL I WAS HAVING WHEEL ALIGNMENT DONE.) BUT REAR TIRES WERE DAMAGED FROM THESE PARTS BEING WORN.. HAD TO REPLACE ALL THESE PARTS. ONLY HAVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARMS AND TIE ROD. OWNERS OPINION IS THAT FACTORY WHEELS ARE TO BIG FOR THIS VEHICLE AND CAUSING TO MUCH PRESSURE ON THESE PARTS. *TR

SINCE I BOUGHT THE JEEP COMPASS 2007 STANDARD, THE BRAKE GROUND AND I FELT IN MY FEET SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE PEDAL (BRAKE) AND THE DRIVER SEAT BELT, SEVERAL TIMES SPOKE WITH THE DEALER ABOUT THIS, THEY CHECKED THE CAR AND ALL THE TIME TOLD ME THE BRAKES IS OK, I SEND A LETTER TO JEEP COMPANY TO EXPLAIN WHAT WAS HAPPENED AND NOTHING THEY DID. TWO DAYS AGO I WAS CLEANED THE CAR AND FOUND DOWN THE BRAKE PEDAL A LEAK, I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID: THE BRAKES BOOSTER IS BROKEN, AND I HAVE TO PAID FOR THAT. BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW IN 2007. REPLACED LEFT AND RIGHT CONTROL ARMS IN 2010 AND AGAIN IN 2014. THE CAR ONLY HAS 60,603 MILES AND ITS ON ITS 3RD SET OF CONTROL ARMS. I SHOULD NOT BE GOING THROUGH CONTROL ARMS THAT FAST. I DRIVE LESS THAN 2 MILES TO WORK EVERYDAY. FILED A COMPLAINT WITH JEEP IN 2010 AND THEY PAID AS "GOOD WILL REPAIR". THE CAR WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THEY REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE 2014 EVEN THOUGH ITS ONLY 30,000 MILES LATER. CONTROL ARMS SHOULD BE LASTING LONGER THAN 30,000 MILES! THE CAR HAS HAD NUMEROUS REPAIRS INCLUDING A GAS TANK PROBLEM WHERE GAS POURED BACK OUT AT YOU WHILE YOU PUMP. CLEARLY THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS VEHICLE. MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS BEGAN TO MAKE CREAKING NOISES UNDER THE HOOD AT ABOUT 58,000 MILES AND THEN IT QUICKLY GREW LOUDER AND MORE OMNIOUS SOUNDING AT ABOUT 60,000 MILES WHEN GOING AT SLOW SPEEDS AND ON UNEVEN GROUND. I WORK ON THE ROAD AND SO THE MILES PILE UP QUICKLY. HOWEVER, I LIVE IN THE CITY AND DO NOT TAKE MY CAR OFF ROAD. I ASSUMED THE NOISE WAS MY SWAY BAR - AGAIN - AS DID MY MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME TO GET IT TO HIM WHEN IT WAS CONVENIENT. IT BECAME OBVIOUS THAT THE NOISE WAS LIKELY MORE THAN THE SWAY BAR AND I DROPPED IT OFF TO MY MECHANIC. HE DIAGNOSED IT AS NEEDING NEW BALL JOINTS AND SOME TIRE RODS. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR A RECALL OR KNOWN ISSUE AND THERE IS A MULTITUDE OF OTHER COMPASS OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE BALL JOINTS REPLACED AT LESS THAN 60,000 MILES. THAT IS NOT SATISFACTORY LONGEVITY FOR BALL JOINTS. THIS IS A $900 REPAIR THAT SHOULD NOT BE PAID BY THE CONSUMER. A RECALL SHOULD BE MADE FOR THIS ISSUE. A VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE TO THOSE WITHIN IT AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. *TR

APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH LATER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED AGAIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,841 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 51,000.

AFTER PUTTING CAR ON THE LIFT HE USUALLY DOES AN INSPECTION, BRAKES, EXHAUST, TIRES , STEERING , ETC.WHEN CHECKING FOR PLAY ON THE FRONT WHEELS HE NOTICE A VERY DANGEROUS PLAY ON BOTH FRONT WHEELS, MORE SEVERE ON THE RIGHT SIDE DUE TO FAILING BALL JOINTS.
