Vehicle shut down on highly traveled city street due to low oil pressure. It was found that the Jeep Compass was consumming oil at a very rapid rate (within 1500 miles of an oil change). We have monitored the oil consumption regurlerly and find that we need to add oil about every 1500 miles. There are NO oil leaks in the engine or around the vehicle, it is being consummed by the engine operation.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING OVER A SPEED BUMP, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE FRONT CONTROL ARM DETACHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ARRIGO CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM SAWGRASS (5901 MADISON AVE, TAMARAC, FL 33321) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CONTROL ARM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 29,000.*DT*DT*JB
WHEN DRIVING 30 MPH MY E-BRAKE ENGAGED BY ITSELF CAUSING BRAKE TO LOCK UP AND JEEP TO TURN OFF. JEEP MECHANIC CANNOT FIND CODE OR ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT!
WHILE DRIVING, ENTERTAINMENT DISPLAY CUTS OUT WITHOUT ANY INPUT BY USER. USUALLY ENDS UP COMING BACK ON MINUTES LATER. WHILE VEHICLE IS OFF AND STATIONARY, CAR DOES NOT REGISTER LOCK BUTTON BEING PRESSED ON INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE OR FROM THE KEY FOB. IF IT DOES, THERE IS ALWAYS ONE DOOR THAT STAYS UNLOCKED.
AUXILIARY BATTERY IN THIS CAUSING MAJOR OTHER ISSUES WITHIN THE CAR. CAUSING POWER TO TRANSMISSION TO BE DELAY AND RESULTING IN BOTH YOUR CHECK ENGINE AND CHECK TRANSMISSION LIGHTS TO BE ACTIVATED.
CAR STALLS OUT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND WHEN TURNED GREEN THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED.
VEHICLE HAS RANDOMLY SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING STREET OR HIGHWAY. SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING AND CAR DECELERATES WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. BACK UP CAMERA INSTRUMENT PANEL INTERMITTENTLY DOES NOT WORK. I AM SURE THERE IS MORE BUT AT THIS TIME THIS IS ALL I CAN THINK ABOUT AS MY DAUGHTER, SON-IN-LAW AND GRANDBABIES ARE STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD 250 MILES FROM HOME. MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE TODAY WITH TRANSMISSION LIGHT.
WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IF I MAKE A COMPLETE STOP THE AUTOSTP ENGAGES WILL NOT DISENGAGE UNTIL JEEP IS IN PARK AND TURNED OFF AND ON. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WILL ALSO RANDOMLY ENGAGE. CAUSE ME NOT TO BE ABLE TO MOVE. ALSO HAVE HAD TIMES WERE THE BRAKE PEDAL IS STIFF AND CANT START THE JEEP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AFTER BEING IN MOTION, I OFTEN GET AN ERROR MESSAGE FOR THE TRANSMISSION FOLLOWED BY A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE VEHICLE HAS A HARD TIME SHIFTING. BY THIS, I MEAN THAT WHENEVER I SHIFT INTO ANOTHER GEAR THE VEHICLE STALLS THEN HAS AN ABRUPT SHIFT THAT MOVES THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. IF THE VEHICLE IS NOT TURNED OFF FOR A MINIMUM OF 30MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT EXCEEDS SPEEDS OF 35 MPH. THE VEHICLE ALSO CONTINUES TO MAKE A NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS BEING FORCED INTO MOTION.
I BELIEVED I HAD LOCKED MY DOORS ON 2 OCCASIONS USING MY ELECTRONIC KEY FOB. THE CAR BEEPED AND LIGHTS FLASHED INDICATING THAT THE DOORS WERE LOCKED. TWICE AFTER THINKING DOORS WERE LOCKED I WAS ROBBED OF APPROXIMATELY 55.00 HIDDEN IN MY GLOVE BOX AND CENTER CONSOLE. AFTER 2ND TIME, UPON INVESTIGATION OF THE LOCKING PROCEDURE I WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT ALL DOORS EXCEPT DRIVER'S WOULD LOCK BUT NOT DRIVER'S EVEN THOUGH UPON WALKING AWAY THE INDICATORS SHOWED THAT ALL DOORS HAD LOCKED. EVEN WHEN IN CAR HITTING THE LOCK BUTTON ON INSIDE OF DOOR LOCKED ALL DOORS BUT DRIVER'S. I HAD TO USE KEY ON OUTSIDE TO FINALLY LOCK DOOR AND MANUALLY MOVE BUTTON ON INSIDE OF DOOR TO GET IT TO LOCK. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE BELIEVING VEHICLE IS LOCKED WHEN IN FACT IT IS NOT ALLOWS FOR ASSAULT OR CAR JACKING OF ME WHILE STOPPED. IT HAS ALREADY COST ME MONEY AND TIME AND IT MAKES THE DOOR UNSAFE IF EVER HIT ON THE SIDE WHERE THAT DOOR IS LOCATED BECAUSE OF LESS STRENGTH IN THE DOOR. CAR UNDER WARRANTY BUT UPON FIXING IT DEALER STATES THAT WINDOW MOTOR FOR THAT DOOR ALSO NEEDS ATTENTION BUT NO PARTS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. I WILL BE LEAVING ON A 500 MI. TRIP TOMORROW WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO LOWER MY WINDOW ANOTHER POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE.
I'M CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH A 2018 JEEP COMPASS IT SEEMS TO BE GOING THROUGH A LOT OF OIL AND I KEEP GETTING AN INDICATOR SAYING ON THE SCREEN LOW OIL PRESSURE UNTIL I PUT OIL IN IT GOES AWAY ABOUT 2,000 MILES LATER COMES BACK ON AGAIN
THE CAR STALLS AT TURNS AND SAYS "LOW OIL PRESSURE" JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR JUL 03 2020.
THIS VEHICLE HAS A KNOWN OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM YET CHRYSLER WILL NOT RECALL OR REPAIR IT. THERE IS NO WARNING LIGHT FOR LOW OIL AND THE CAR WILL JUST SUDDENLY LOOSE POWER. DEALERSHIP STATES YOU HAVE TO BRING IN YOUR CAR EVERY 1000 MILES FOR AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. PROBLEM STARTED WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF LEASING VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 5000 MILES ON IT. PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING EVERY FEW MONTHS DESPITE GETTING REGULAR OIL CHANGES. IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE (SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER) OR WHEN STARTING UP CAR AFTER BEING PARKED. HAS BEEN SERVICED AT LEAST 6 TIMES IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS.
CAR WILL INTERMITTENTLY CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING CAUSING YOU TO HAVE TO PUT IN PARK, TURN OFF AND THEN RESTART CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. TODAY 8.12 I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AND IN THE MIDST OF THE TURN THE CAR CUT OFF WHICH AUTOMATICLLY ENGAGED THE PARKING BREAK. I HAD TO DISENGAGE THE BREAK, PUSH CAR TO MEDIUM TO AVOID ONCOMING TRAFFIC, PUT IN PARK AND CYCLE THE CAR OFF. I WAS ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY RESTART THE CAR BUT THE ENTIRE PROCESS TAKES A FEW MINUTES.
STOP/START NOT AVAILABLE, BACKUP CAMERA GOES OUT OR DOES NOT WORK, ENGINE IS SUPER HOT HIGH HEAT, CHECK TRANSMISSION LIGH, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AMBER STOP START LIGHT,PUTTING IN REVERSE AND CAR WILL DIE OUT OR HESITATE, ONLY 14,000 MILES 2 YEARS OLD ALL THESE SYMPTONS CAME ON THIS WEEK. TRULY FRUSTRATING 2 YEAR OLD CAR AND ITS REDICULOUS HOW BAD THIS IS. I WILL NEVER BUY THIS COMPASS OR JEEP AGAIN.
MY TRACTION CONTROL MAKES A LOUD NOISE, AFTER HAVING IT BACK TO THE GARAGE 3 TIMES I HAVE BEEN GIVEN 3 CHOICES. 1 LISTEN TO THE NOISE, TURN UP MY RADIO OR 3 TURN OFF THE TRACTION CONTROL. JEEP HAS NO ANSWER OR FIX FOR THE NOISE. I FIND IT TROUBLING THAT THEY WOULD SUGGEST TURNING UP THE RADIO WHICH TO ME CAUSES A SAFETY ISSUE OR TO TURN OFF THE TRACTION CONTROL WHICH SEEMS TO ME WAS PUT ON THERE AS A SAFETY FEATURE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE.
THE ENGINE BURNS AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL AND THEN STALLS WHILE RUNNING - THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED NO OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND IT ONLY FLASHED A FEW TIMES ON THE SECOND INSTANCE. ONLY 43000 MILES ON THE ENGINE AN STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT JEEP IS REFUSING TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. ONLY 3000 MILES SINCE LAST OIL CHANGE AND HAD TO BRING TO DEALERSHIP BECAUSE OF STALLING AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED OIL (3+ QUARTS). THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE TO JEEP AND THEY ARE PUTTING PEOPLE'S LIVES AT RISK. JEEP IS CLAIMING THAT THIS IS NORMAL. THEY REFUSE TO ADDRESS BECAUSE THE ISSUE IS BIG AND THEY REFUSE TO PAY TO FIX THIS. THIS HAPPENED TO MY DAUGHTER SEVERAL TIMES WHEN DRIVING. THE DEALER SAID IT IS A KNOW ISSUE AND JEEP IS SAYING NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY CHARGED US $185 TODAY AND SAID WE NEED TO CHECK OIL AT EVER FILL UP.
BATTERY DIED AND REQUIRES JUMP STARTING EVERY TIME I TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. IT TOOK AN HOUR TO START MY VEHICLE TODAY. IT IS BELIEVED TO BE A VOLTAGE REGULATOR ISSUE JUST LIKE OTHER MODELS OF THIS VEHICLE BUT MY VIN SAYS IT ISN'T ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL.
My Uconnect System came with the car. I purchased it in 2019 and by 2020 I noticed a bubble in my screen, 2021 I noticed it getting bigger I took it to the dealer they said nothing needs to be done and in 2022 it got worse and then they told me it’s out of warranty, in 2023 it’s completely delaminated and now I have no use for the entire system and now it is causing issues.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
ON THE WAY HOME MY REAR VIEW CAMERA STOPPED WORKING. I COULDN'T FIX AND THE REASON IS UNKNOWN ON HOW IT STOPPED. IT ONLY SHOWS A BLACK SCREEN.

INITIALLY SERVICE TRANSMISSION MESSAGE, APPEARS ON THE CAR WHEN IT WAS TURN WITHOUT MOVING FOR MORE THAN 10 MINUTES, AFTER THAT IF THERE WAS AN INTENTION OF CHANGING THE GEAR OF THE CAR (DRIVE OR REVERSE) THE COMPLETE CARS MOVE LIKE A MAYOR PART WAS BROKEN. AFTER TURNING ON THE CAR AND TURNING OFF THE CAR 2 TIMES THE MESSAGE DISAPPEAR AND THE CAR CAN START MOVING FREELY. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO SERVICE AND THE DEALER SERVICE EXPLAIN THAT IT WAS AN INCORRECT PLUG. WEEKS LATER THE EVENT WAS REPEATED BUT NOW RUNNING AT A SPEED OF 60 MILES PER HOUR. WHEN THE MESSAGE APPEARS WHILE RUNNING THE CAR INSTANTLY REDUCE THE SPEED, WHICH IS VERY DANGER AT THIS SPEED, AND WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR THE ENGINE DOES NOT RESPOND AND CAN NOT EXCEED 30 MILES PER HOUR. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLES TIMES, AND IT HAS BEEN 'CORRECTED' IN DIFFERENT WAYS BY THE DEALERSHIP, CHANGING BATTERY AND CORRECTING MISPLACED CABLES, NOW IT HAPPENS EVERY DAY. IT IS IMPORTANT TO STATE THAT I WAS ABLE OF CHANGING THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP BUT THE SAME ERROR HAPPENS ON THE NEW CAR.
WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 65 MILES AN HOUR CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. MESSAGE POPPED UP ON DASH STATED TO SHIFT CAR IN TO PARK AND RESTART. I WENT FROM 65 MILES AN HOUR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN THE MATTER OF SECONDS A SEMI ALMOST CRASHING INTO ME. PULLED OVER RESTARTED THE CAR, STARTED DRIVING TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN IT HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN ON THE WAY. LEFT CAR AT DEALERSHIP WAS TOLD THE NEXT DAY I NEEDED TO PURCHASE AN OIL CHANGE. DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS NO OIL ON THE DIPSTICK AND NO OTHER PROBLEMS WERE FOUND. I AM 1000 MILES AWAY FROM AN OIL CHANGE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THESE CARS CONSUME OIL EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS THAT MEANS 5 QUARTS OF OIL HAS BEEN CONSUMED IN BETWEEN MY OIL CHANGES. I DO NOT TRUST DRIVING THIS CAR MYSELF OR WITH MY FAMILY. I HAD NO INDICATION OR WARNING THAT OIL LEVELS WERE EVEN LOW. WANT ME TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND DO A 500 MILE CHECK FOR 3000 MILES I DO NOT TRUST DRIVING THIS CAR FOR EVEN 5 MILES. JEEP NOR DEALERSHIP WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE UNTIL HE CONSUMPTION TEST IS COMPLETE. I HAVE ALSO READ OTHER COMPLAINTS STATING THEY ARE GETTING REPLACEMENT ENGINES PUT IN AND THEY ARE THE SAME ENGINES WITH NO PROBLEMS FIXED.
THE PASSENGER SIDE STRUT HAS ALREADY BROKEN, THE VEHICLE IS UNDER 20,000 MILES. ALSO THE VEHICLE HAS ALREADY HAD MULTIPLE REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY FOR FAULTY BACKUP CAMERA AND COMPUTER IN THE CAR. WHEN OPERATING THE VEHICLE, EVEN ON SMOOTHLY PAVED ROADS, THE STRUT RATTLED AND MAKES NOISE. THE CAR HAS NOT EVEN HAD ITS FIRST INSPECTION YET AND THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT IT MAY NOT PASS WITH THIS ISSUE. THE STRUT GETS WORSE OVER TIME.
I have almost crashed twice because my screen in my car flashes all these white lines ALL the time and even when I turn it off it will still do it and driving in the dark it blinds you randomly on a turn on the freeway and it’s dangerous I have found many people with he same car having the same problems and they try to make you pay an arm and a leg because it’s a wiring problem and you have to pay to replace the thing that holds the screen and whole front dash screen part because once it’s out on it’s stuck there it’s clearly a malfunction with the manufacturer and it is the screen that was originally built into the car. It starts out slow and does it very rarely and then just all the sudden goes awful. On the lower sections I put down around when the problem started and was as bad of a blinding
I STARTED THE CAR AND EVERYTHING WOULD TURN ON EXCEPT THE ENGINE (VEHICLE STATIONARY). SOMETIMES THE BACK UP CAMERA IS BLACK AND WON'T TURN ON WHEN REVERSING (VEHICLE MOVING). THE ENGINE LIGHT RANDOMLY TURNS ON WHEN THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE JEEP (PROGRAMMING/ELECTRICAL ISSUE???) & A BUNCH OF OTHER LIGHTS, BUT THEN THE NEXT DAY IT'LL BE GONE; OR IT'LL BE GONE AFTER I TURN THE VEHICLE ON & OFF MULTIPLE TIMES (THIS HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE IS MOVING ON HIGHWAY). ALL 3 OF THESE INCIDENTS HAVE HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES & I FEEL VERY UNSAFE DRIVING MYSELF & MY FAMILY IN THIS VEHICLE, BECAUSE OF IT.
MY 2018 COMPASS STALLED ON ME TWICE IN CITY TRAFFIC. CHECKED THE OIL AND THE DIP STICK WAS DRY. THE OIL LIGHT DID NOT GO ON.
THE ENGINE QUITS RUNNING AND WILL NOT RESTART. THIS HAPPENED ON A BUSY CITY ROAD.
The rear view camera display stops working and only shows a black screen. I am unable to clearly see behind me when backing up. This is especially troublesome at night. I have taken the vehicle back to the dealer 6 times for repair. They have replaced the camera 4 times and adjusted the wiring 2 times. The camera still doesn’t work occasionally but I don’t take it back because the dealer told me it was no longer under warranty and I would have to pay for it. The only inspections were conducted at the dealership for repairs. There were no other indications of a problem until June 2020 when the screen only displayed black when the car was in reverse.

THE CAR TRANSMISSION INDICATOR IS COMING ON. HAVING A SLOW TIME TO ACCELERATE AND DRIVE
DRIVING AND THE WHOLE PANEL WENT DARK, RADIO AND EVERYTHING - CAME BACK ON APPROX 2 HOURS LATER. THIS ONLY HAPPENED ONCE. THEN MY START/STOP STOPPED WORKING. WHEN I TRY TO START MY VEHICLE IT DOES NOT START BUT SAYS ENGINE IS RUNNING. I HAD TO GO OUTSIDE MY VEHICLE TO REMOTE START IT IN ORDER TO GO. VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET. THIS ALL RECENTLY STARTED TO HAPPEN. A LIGHTNING BOLT SYMBOL APPEARED ON MY GAGE AS WELL AS MY ENGINE LIGHT. *TR
ISSUE IS WHAT SEEMS TO BE WITH THE FRONT SUSPENSION AND IT'S ALIGNMENT. I'M PRETTY SURE THERE'S NOT ANYTHING BROKEN, IN FACT I'M ACTUALLY BAFFLED UNLESS IT IS A POSSIBLE 'CAMBER' ISSUE/SETTING. MORE SPECIFIC: NEGATIVE CAMBER, CAUSING BOTH TIRES TO BALD ON THE INSIDE, EVENLY IF THAT MAKES SENSE. (BUT I'M NOT GOING TO ACT LIKE I KNOW MY STUFF, CAUSE IT'S NOT MY PROFESSION) SEE ATTACHED BELOW...ALSO SPOKE WITH SERVICE SUPERVISOR MENTIONED (OVER PHONE), HE SAYS A POTENTIAL TOE OUT, IN WHICH IS ALSO ON ATTACHED SHEET. IF NEEDED I COULD SEND THE PHOTOS OF THE TIRES WEAR PATTERN. CAR MILEAGE (43K) VEHICLE DOES NOT PULL, VEHICLE WAS NOT IN MOTION, & WE'VE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE A LITTLE OVER A YEAR. READ ABOUT OTHER RECALLS OF SAME MAKE/YEAR THUS REASON BEHIND COMPLAINT. THERE IN THE ATTACHMENT, LOOKS A LITTLE OVER-EMPHASIZED, HOWEVER, ISSUE IS THIS BAD.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SOUTHFIELD CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (28100 TELEGRAPH RD, SOUTHFIELD, MI 48034, (248) 331-9937) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAGS WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $5,000. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,500.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AROUND FOR A WEEK WITH NO OIL IN IT, THE DUMMY OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON, MY CAR NEVER TOLD ME I NEEDED OIL, WHILE THIS HAPPENED IT ALSO CAUSE MY CARS PARKING BRAKE TO ENGAGE WHILE I WAS DRIVING THROUGH TOWN. I WAS NOT EVEN DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY THAT HAD HAPPENED. *TR
MY WIFE AND HER AUNT WERE DRIVING AT 70-75, THEN IT FELT LIKE WHEN A GOVERNOR KICKS ON. IF THAT MAKES SENSE. AT THE SAME TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. SINCE I WAS ALREADY GOING THAT FAST I COULDN'T REALLY TELL, BUT I THOUGHT IT FELT LIKE I COULDN'T ACCELERATE. THEN AFTER THEY STOP FOR GROCERIES AND BEGAN DRIVING AGAIN THEY COULDN'T GET IT TO GO OVER 30. DROVE ON THE SHOULDER TO THE NEXT EXIT. IT FELT LIKE IT WOULDN'T SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR TO ACCELERATE. I EVEN TRIED SPORT MODE TO MANUALLY DO IT & IT STILL WOULDN'T. THEN THEY PULLED OVER AND LET COOL BRIEFLY IT WAS WORKING AGAIN. WHEN MY WIFE FINALLY MADE IT HOME I PLUGGED IN MY PORTABLE CODE READER TO SEE WHAT TRIPPED THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE CODE WAS FOR TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE LAST YEAR WITH 5000 MILES ON IT, CURRENTLY IT HAS 25,000. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!! AND THEN READING THE OTHER ISSUES PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS VEHICLE SOUNDS LIKE A DEATH TRAP WAITING TO HAPPEN! MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS WILL NEVER PURCHASE DODGE PRODUCTS AGAIN, JUNK. *TR
MY 2018 JEEP COMPASS STARTED RANDOMLY OVERHEATING. WE WERE STRANDED FOR OVER 5 HOURS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. I HAD THE ENGINE THERMOSTAT REPLACED, AS THE MECHANIC THOUGHT THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. IT SEEMED TO WORK AND WE WERE IN OUR WAY. ABOUT 2 MILES FROM OUR DESTINATION IT STARTED OVERHEATING AGAIN. THERE WAS NO STEAM, NO EXCESS SOUND FROM THE ENGINE, NO NOTHING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO ANOTHER MECHANIC AND HAD A FULL DIAGNOSTIC RAN, ONLY TO COME BACK WITH NOTHING. WE ARE CURRENTLY DRIVING THROUGH THE DESERT WITH THE HEAT ON BECAUSE ANYTIME YOU TURN ON THE AC THE ENGINE STARTS TO OVERHEAT, AND IT IS NOT EVEN 80 OUTSIDE. I LOOKED IT UP IN THE SEEMS TO BE A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE JEEP COMPASS. WE HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO ON OUR TRIP STILL. THIS IS EXTREMELY CONCERNING CONSIDERING THE AGE AND MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE.
CAR HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING. NO TRANSMISSION FLUID AND JUST BOUGHT FROM DEALER LESS THAN 600 MILES AGO. ENGINE RUNS HOT TO THE POINT VEHICLE STOPS WHILE DRIVING. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS AND WINDOWS GO UP AND DOWN. BURNING THROUGH COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID AS WELL AS OIL. CAR OVERHEATS UPON ANY ACCELERATION AND SHUTS OFF. ALL OCCUR WHILE IN MOTION. VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND LIGHTS TOO BRIGHT AT NIGHT AND CANNOT SEE YOU BACK UP WHILE PARKED OR IN MOTION. CANNOT DIM. VEHICLE GEAR SHIFT IS ROUGH IN AND OUT OF GEAR (IN DRIVE TO PARKED). COULD NOT PARK WHEN STALLED.
THE JEEP SAT FOR FOUR TO FIVE WEEKS DURING THE COVID-19 SHUT DOWN. IN APRIL WE STARTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH ONLY 10,870 MILES ON IT AND DISCOVERED SERIOUS PULSATING WHEN BRAKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND DANGEROUS VIBRATION IN THE BRAKING ALTOGETHER. LIVONIA CHRYSLER JEEP SERVICE PERSON DROVE THE JEEP AND DETERMINED WARPED ROTORS.WOULD NOT REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. CAR SITS MONTH AFTER MONTH UNABLE TO DRIVE WHILE PAYING LEASE PAYMENTS ON THE CAR.TOOK THE CAR TO SNETHCAMP TODAY 10-12-20 FOR AN APPOINTMENT SET UP BY KRIS IN JEEP CUSTOMER CARE. DEALERSHIP WILL NOT LOOK AT THE JEEP UNLESS I AGREE TO A $65.00 INSPECTION FEE. I REFUSE TO PAY ANYTHING FOR A DEFECTIVE LEASE VEHICLE REPAIR. THE JEEP IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP AND SO FAR NO RESOLUTION THROUGH CUSTOMER CARE AT FCA HAS OCCURRED. NO ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES OCCURRED BEFORE THE VEHICLE SAT FOR APPROX. 4 WEEKS. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD WARPED ROTORS DUE TO NON USE OF THE VEHICLE BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PERSON LEASING THE VEHICLE WITH ONLY 10,870 MILE ON IT?SO FAR I HAVE MADE 7 PAYMENTS AND INSURANCE COSTS PER MONTH ON A VEHICLE FOR 7 MONTHS THAT CANNOT BE DRIVEN DUE TO INFERIOR MANUFACTURER PARTS. HELP!!!!
I LEFT MY HOUSE AND DROVE ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD. I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND AS I WENT TO PROCEED ONTO AN EXTREMELY BUSY ROAD MY 2018 JEEP COMPASS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. IT WOULDN'T MOVE AND TOLD ME TO SHIFT GEARS THEN PRESS THE BRAKE AND START BUTTON. MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS WOULD NOT RESTART THE CAR. EVEN THOUGH I PUT IT INTO PARK, THE D ON THE SHIFTER WAS FLASHING AND A MESSAGE ON THE DASHBOARD SAID THAT IT HAD TO BE IN PARK TO START...EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN PARK. IT TOOK BETWEEN 5-7 MINUTES TO FINALLY START RUNNING, BUT GAVE NO INDICATION OF WHAT THE ISSUE WAS, NO WARNING LIGHTS OR ANYTHING. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE A MILE TO MY DESTINATION WITHOUT ANY ISSUE, BUT WAS MOMENTARILY IN FEAR FOR MY LIFE AS THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WITH NO NOTICE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I IMMEDIATELY MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT.THE MAN WHO HELPED WE WHEN I GOT THERE SAID HE THOUGHT HE KNEW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. HE SHOWED ME THAT THERE WAS HARDLY ANY OIL ON THE DIPSTICK. I REALIZE I WAS ABOUT 800 MILES PAST THE 5000 MILE OIL CHANGE, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT JEEP SAID IT WAS ACCEPTABLE TO BURN A QUART OF OIL EVERY 2000 MILES. THIS SEEMS EXCESSIVE TO ME AND EVERY MECHANIC THAT I'VE TALKED TO. I HAVE READ THAT THE ENGINE WAS DESIGNED TO SHUT OFF WHEN OIL IS LOW AND CHRYSLER CONFIRMED THAT. HOW DOES THIS PASS TESTING? THERE IS NO WARNING LIGHT AT ALL AND CHANCES ARE THAT YOU WILL DIE OR BE SERIOUSLY INJURED IF YOUR CAR JUST SHUTS OFF IN TRAFFIC. I AM GENUINELY CONCERNED FOR MY LIFE AND THE LIVES AND SAFETY OF OTHERS WHILE HAVING THESE FAULTY VEHICLES ARE ON THE ROAD. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ASAP AND ENGINES NEED TO BE REPLACED WITH ONES THAT DON'T BURN THROUGH FUEL LIKE THIS. HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE ONLINE. *TR
WHEN SHIFTING VEHICLE WILL JOLT AND MAKE A POP NOISE MOSTLY WHEN DRIVEN LONG MILES AND THEN SHIFTING BETWEEN SPEED LIMITS , GOING THROUGH ROUNDABOUTS, STOPPING AND GOING ,
Both the passenger and diver seat belts don't latch correctly. Causing them to randomly un-latch while driving or even just initially trying to latch them when getting in. There is no odd movements causing this and they sound and act as if there is no problem until the un-latch. Have had a mechanic look into it and they confirmed that isn't not an every time failure but they are unsure as to why it works and then doesn't since it functions as it's supposed to. The only warning I get for this is the unbuckled light/sound after the incident happens.

PURCHASED 2018 JEEP COMPASS TRAILHAWK SPORT WHICH NOW AS APPROX. 28,000 MILES. AT APPROX. THE ONE-YEAR MARK OF OWNERSHIP, THE JEEP STARTED EXPERIENCING SIGNIFICANT ISSUES WITH THE AUTO START/STOP FEATURE AND BACK-UP CAMERA. WITH REGARD TO THE FIRST, THE VEHICLE WILL BE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, INTERSECTION, ETC. AND THE ENGINE WILL TURN OFF (AUTO START/STOP FEATURE), HOWEVER, THE ENGINE WILL NOT TURN BACK ON AT TIMES. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AND UNKNOWN WHAT IT RESOLVES TO SPECIFICALLY. ON OCCASION WHEN THIS FAULT OCCURS, THE VEHICLE WILL DISPLAY THE AUTO START/STOP LIGHT ON THE DASH WITH AN EXCLAMATION POINT NEXT TO IT. IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL IT ADVISES THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTICS. OWNER HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WITHOUT ANY EXPLANATION OR REMEDY. DEALERSHIPS HAVE ADVISED THEY ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM AND UNABLE TO REPLICATE IT. THE BACK-UP SCREEN IS ALSO AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE. ON OCCASION IT WILL WORK WHEREAS OTHER TIMES IT WILL SIMPLY DISPLAY A BLACK/DARK SCREEN. THE TEXT "CHECK ALL SURROUNDINGS" STILL DISPLAYS ON THE BLACK SCREEN. MOST RECENTLY, HOWEVER, OWNER OBSERVED THE SCREEN SHOWING "CAMERA SYSTEM UNAVAILABLE" WITH THE BLACK SCREEN. JEEP'S WARRANTY PROVIDER/ADMINISTRATOR HAS BEEN EXTREMELY UNRESPONSIVE IN RESOLVING THE AUTO START/STOP ISSUE. IN MANY CASES, WE AREN'T EVEN RECEIVING ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE VIDEOS/PICTURES WE ARE SENDING IN TO THEIR EMAIL. AS OF LATE MARCH, OWNER IS RECEIVING A NEW BACK-UP CAMERA AFTER HAVING JUST DRIVEN THE JEEP TO A DEALER AND REQUESTING REPLACEMENT. OWNER IS CONSISTENTLY BEING TOLD TO TAKE THE JEEP INTO A DEALERSHIP, AS THE PROBLEM OCCURS, BUT DEALERSHIPS CANNOT FIGURE OUT THE AUTO START/STOP ISSUE. OWNER IS BECOMING FEARFUL IN DRIVING VEHICLE AS IT SEEMS UNRELIABLE IN OPERATING PROPERLY.
CAR STALLED 4 TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH WHILE AT STOP LIGHTS. I WAS STOPPED AT LIGHT AND WHEN I WENT TO MOVE AGAIN THE CAR STALLED-ALL PANEL LIGHTS FLASHED AND CAR WOULD NOT TURN ON AGAIN. AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS THE CAR FINALLY STARTED. THIS IS JUST ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT'S ALSO BEEN IN THE SHOP MULTIPLE TIMES FOR DRIVETRAIN ISSUES. VEHICLE IS A LEMON.
I WAS DRIVING VEHICLE GOING 30 MPH AT AN INTERSECTION AND THE CAR DIED AS I WAS TURNING. LUCKY THERE WAS A LITTLE ROOM WHERE THEY WERE DOING CONSTRUCTION I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT TRAFFIC. THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED. I WAITED LIKE TWO MINUTES AND RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE TO RESTART THE CAR. CAR TRIED TO TURN OVER THREE TIMES, AND WOULD NOT START. WAITED 5 MIN AND TRIED TO RESTART CAR. FINALLY CAME BACK ON. DROVE IT LESS THAN TWO MILES DOWN A CITY STREET AND IT DID IT AGAIN. THE LAST TIME I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO RESTART, THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT REMAINED ON.
I OWN A MANUAL 2018 JEEP COMPASS WITH AROUND 14,000 MILES. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW. I NOTICED, AND NOT SURE IF IT IS A COINCIDENCE OR NOT, AFTER THE CAR HAS IDLED A BIT. EACH TIME THE CAR MAKES A TERRIBLE RATTLING NOISE. THE CAR LOSES POWER, HAS NO PICK UP, GOES LIMP. IT IS A MANUAL, AND WHEN I PUT IT IN 1ST OR 2ND GEAR, IT WILL NOT GO ABOVE 2RPMS ON THE DIAL. I USUALLY SHIFT WHEN IT GETS TO 3. NO WARNING LIGHTS OF ANY KIND COME ON. I MANAGED TO GET IT NOT TO STALL ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT BOTH TIMES I HAVE NOT HAD TO STOP AT A LIGHT OR ANYTHING. BOTH TIMES I LET IT SIT OVERNIGHT, AND IT WAS FINE IN THE MORNING. AFTER THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FOUND NOTHING. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND HAVE A CASE NUMBER.
