Roughly 2500 miles after my last oil change I noticed while driving at town speeds that my engine was sluggish to accelerate. After ten minutes of driving I tried to execute a left hand turn and my vehicle's engine cut off completely. I had to guide the car to the side of the road to restart it. There were NO indicator lights on or messages indicating that there was an issue. I pulled over to check the oil and it was low (barely anything on the dipstick and DARK). I immediately drove to my nearest Jeep dealership and on the way there the car shut off again during a turn. Both times were during left-hand turns into traffic and I was lucky to have had enough speed to get out of the way. When I took my vehicle to the dealership, they gave me an oil change and told me to come back for an oil consumption test. Two months later (when I hit the designated miles for the test) they told me they'd found nothing wrong with the vehicle and sent me away. Two months later (and only 1300 miles since the oil change the dealership gave me), I was back at the same dealership with the same issue, low and dark oil. Luckily, I had been proactive and caught it before stalling in traffic anywhere. Again, the dealership offered to change my oil and do a consumption test, but nothing further. It's clear that the 2018 Jeep Compass has engine issues that Jeep is unwilling to acknowledge but these issues are dangerous and costly. I should not need an oil change every 1500 miles or risk putting myself and my passengers in danger.
WHILE DRIVING 80 DOWN THE FREEWAY WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON, WHEN CRUISE CONTROL WAS TURNED OFF, IT THEN SHUT OFF MY POWER STEERING AND STABILITY CONTROL
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the headlights independently turned off. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed; however, the contact was unaware of the result of the diagnostic test. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was serviced under Customer Satisfaction Number: W20 (Reprogram Power Train Control Module) however, the failure with the headlights persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 9,000.
CAR STALLED GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY WITHOUT WARNING, TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD LOW ON OIL, OIL CHANGED AND NO WORD OF OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM, ASKED AND GOT AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AT DEALER TO WHICH THEY SAID 1 QUART PER 2000 MILES IS NORMAL. HAD INDEPENDENT OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DONE AT MASONS AUTOMOTIVE AND THE CAR IS BURNING 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 747 MILES. NOW A RECALL TO REPROGRAM THE COMPUTER. THE CAR IS ALSO ON ITS 3RD SET OF BATTERIES DUE TO BATTERY FAILURE, BOTH BATTERIES HAD FAILED LEAVING US STRANDED AS THE BATTERIES FAIL INSTANTLY. DROVE THE CAR AND PARKED IT, CAME BACK LITTLE LATER AND THE CAR WON'T START ALL WARNING AND ERROR LIGHTS START FLASHING AND CAN'T STOP THEM, HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO THE DEALER
STOP AT A STOP SIGN. I WENT TO PROCEED AND THE ENGINE TURNED OFF. TOOK ABOUT 2-3 MINS TO GET IT TO RESTART. THE STOP/START INDICATOR DISPLAYED FOR SERVICE ON THE SCREEN AND A YELLOW LIGHT WITH AN A POPPED ON AND THEN WENT OFF.
I STARTED MY CAR LIKE NORMAL AND REVERSED AND DROVE FORWARD DOWN STREET. I NOTICED THE CAR KEPT MAKING JOLTING MOTIONS. I CAME TO A STOP SIGN AND AS I BEGAN TO TAKE OFF AND WAS IN THE ROADWAY THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED AND THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS LOCKED UP AND THE CAR SLOWLY CAME TO A STOP. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TRIED TO DISENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE. IT TURNED OFF BUT THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS WERE STILL JAMMED. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR A MINUTE AND PRESSED THE POWER BUTTON TO TRY AND RESTART THE CAR. IT STARTED MAKING A NOISE AS IF THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AND SHUT BACK OFF. I LET IT SIT FOR A BIT LONGER AND TRIED AGAIN. THIS TIME IT DID THE SAME THING BUT EVENTUALLY TURNED ON. I THEN PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND PROCEEDED TO PRESS ON THE GAS TO SEE IF IT WOULD MOVE FORWARD. IT DID BUT HAPPENED AGAIN AT THE NEXT INTERSECTION I HAD TO STOP AT. EVERY TIME THIS WOULD OCCUR IT WOULD NUDGE FORWARD JUST ENOUGH FOR ME TO BE IN THE INTERSECTION AND IT WOULD TAKE A COUPLE TRIES TO GET THE CAR TO RESTART IN ORDER TO MOVE. THIS PROBLEM CONTINUED AND FINALLY A LIGHT POPPED UP THAT SAID "OIL PRESSURE LOW" SO I CHECKED THE OIL AND IT WAS JUST ABOUT EMPTY. I HAD JUST HAD THE OIL THE OIL CHANGED A COUPLE WEEKS BEFORE SO THE OIL SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ANYWHERE NEAR EMPTY. I REPLACED THE OIL AND THE PROBLEM STOPPED. I HAVE BEEN MAKING SURE TO CHECK OIL DAILY AND REPLACE AS NEEDED BUT NOW THE CAR IS JITTERY AT TIMES.
AT RANDOM ONCE THE VEHICLE IS CRANKED THE ODOMETER WILL BEGIN BLINKING AND NOT STOP UNTIL TURNED OFF. OUR CAR HAS BEEN RESET TWICE AND IT IS ONLY TEMPORARY. WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A MOTHERBOARD THAT WAS 800$ TO REPLACE BUT IF CLEARING IT WORKS THEY WOULD CLEAR IT UNTIL IT BECAME AN ISSUE. WELL TO ME ITS AN ISSUE ON A TWO YEAR OLD CAR THAT THE MOTHERBOARD TO THE CAR ISN'T WORKING PROPERLY.
STRUTS NEED TO BE REPLACED AFTER 10,000 MILES, HORRIBLE CLUNKING WHEN IT HITS ANY LITTLE BUMP, VERY UNNERVING, WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER ONE

The contact stated that on several occasions the vehicle also stalled while driving on the highway. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated as designed however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,000.
CAR BURNS A LOT OF OIL, WILL SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. WILL ALSO SAY SERVICE TRANSMISSION WHEN IDLING FOR 5 MINUTES & NOT ALLOW ME TO DRIVE.
DRIVER SIDE WIPER BLADE FELL OFF WHILE DRIVING IN A SNOW STORM, RESULTING IN WIPER ARM SMACKING BACK AGAINST WINDSHIELD AND CRACKING GLASS. HAD TO GET WINDSHIELD REPLACED AND NEW WIPER BLADES. VERY DANGEROUS. PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED REPLACEMENT BLADE ALSO FELL OFF DURING USE DURING RAIN STORM ON CHRISTMAS EVE, LEAVING ME STRANDED ON SIDE OF HIGHWAY. WHY IS THIS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL WITH 2019 /20 MODELS? VERY VERY DANGEROUS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE BATTERY POWER FAILED AND THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE STARTED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER ENGLEWOOD CHRYSLER JEEP LOCATED AT 100 SYLVAN AVE, ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ 07632 AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
MY VEHICLE IS STALLING AND THE OIL ON THE VEHICLE IS BEEN CONSUME RAPIDLY I TOOK MY CAR AND TOLD THE DEALER THAT THIS IS NOT NORMAL THEY ASKED ME TO PLEASE TAKE IT EVERY TIME THE ENGILE OIL LIGHT WILL COME ON WHICH IT'S VERY OFTEN. ENGINE OIL MONITORS FAIL TO ENGAGE PRIOR TO ENGINE STALLING- I WAS GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY CAR STARTED STALLING LUCKLY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME AND I REACHED OUT TO THE DEALER AT CHRYSLER IN ELGIN IL - THEY HAD ME DROP MY VEHICLE AND OFFER ME A RENTAL. CLAIMING THAT THEY WILL CONTACT CHRYSLER - JEEP TO GET MY ENGINE REPLACE OR FIXED THE ISSUE SINCE THEY MENTION. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE A NUMEROUS CUSTOMER WITH THE SAME ISSUE VEHICLE AT RISK OF SUDDEN ENGINE STALLING WITHOUT WARNING,' THE JEEP COMPASS CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ALLEGES. BUT TODAY I WAS NOTIFY TO RETURN THE RENTAL BACK AND THAT I MUST DRIVE MY CAR AND TAKE IT TO THE DEALER ONCE I REACH 1,000 MILES I TALK TO RACHEL THE ASSISTANT MANAGER TO PROVIDE ME WITH THE REF# NUMBER AND PROOF THAT SHE CONTACTED JEEP AND SHE DECLINE STATING SHE DIDNT GET ONE. -- I ON THE OTHER HAND WENT ONLINE AND FILE A COMPLAIN WITH JEEP CORPORATE OFFICE ONLINE AND RECEIVED A REF # RIGHT AWAY.. ( WHICH IS WHY I DON'T BELIEVE THE ASSISTANT MANAGER AT ELGIN CHRYSLER.. SHE DOESN'T HAVE PAPERWORK OF IT OR ANYTHING) I'M STILL WAITING FOR A RESOLUTION OR HEAR FROM JEEP CORPORATE OFFICE THIS IS MY REFERENCE # 77965874
MAKING A LEFT TURN TO ENTER EXPRESSWAY MY VEHICLE PARKING BRAKE CAME ON BY ITSELF STALLED VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO FINISH THE TURN AND PULLED OFF TO SIDE OF ROAD. WEEK LATER TODAY PULLED UP TO RED LIGHT PARKING BRAKE CAME ON VEHICLE STALLED TOOK A WHILE TO RESTART . I AM FEARFUL OF GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT. TAKING TO DEALERSHIP ON TUESDAY DEC.15 2020.
PCV VALVE IS FAILING. CAR IS BURNING OIL AND CAUSING LOW OIL PRESSURE. CAR WILL STATE LOW OIL PRESSURE WITH THE LIGHT COMING UP ON THE DASH FOR LOW OIL PRESSURE NOTIFICATION. CAR WILL POWER DOWN AND ENGAGE PARKING BRAKE AND DIE. THIS HAPPENS WHILE CAR IS DRIVING. CAR TAKES MULTIPLE TIMES TO START BACK UP BECAUSE DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH OIL. HAD SIMILIAR DIAGNOSED ISSUE COVERED BY CHRYSLER IN ANOTHER CAR THAT WAS PURCHASED. SAME SYMPTOMS AND IT WAS PCV VALVE FAILURE. THIS IS DANGEROUS. CHRYSLER FIAT SHOULD ISSUE RECALL
VEHICLE CONSUMES TOO MUCH OIL AND WILL FAIL TO HAVE ENOUGH OIL PRESSURE AND EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE WILL ENGAGE RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING AND CAR WILL STOP. OIL PRESSURE LIGHT WILL ENGAGE ALSO AND CAR CAN FAIL TO START. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE PCV VALVE SINCE I HAD SIMILAR ISSUE WITH MY 2015 CHRYSLER 200 AND THE PCV VALVE WAS CULPRIT. DEALERSHIP ADVISED TO RECONFIGURE PCM AND COME BACK FOR OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AFTER 1500 MILES. TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP AFTER THE 1500 MILES ON 2-2-21AND VEHICLE WAS FOUND TO BE LOW ON OIL. DEALERSHIP JUST TOPPED IT OFF AND SAID IT WAS "OKAY, NO FURTHER WORK NEEDED AT THIS TIME". THIS IS A DANGER AND THE CAR IS CONSUMING TOO MUCH OIL. THE PCV VALVE OR ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED
CAR BURNING EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL WHEN LIGHT COMES ON ITS TOO LIGHT THE OIL IS COMPLETELY EMPTY. CAUSING THE CAR TO STALL WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND EMERGENCY LIGHTS TO COME ON.
1) 10/29/2020 I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE CRUSE CONTROL ON WHEN THE CAR MADE A LOUD THUMP, JUMPED OUT CRUSE CONTROL, SHUT OFF, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER SITTING FOR A BIT, CAR STARTED BUT WOULD NOT GO OVER 25 MPR BACK TO TOWN. AT THE SIGNAL LIGHT, WHEN STOPPED, THE CAR STARTED TO GO IN REVERSE. WAS ABLE TO STOP IT AGAIN, AND GOT IT TO DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID IT NEEDED A COMPUTER UPDATE. 2) 12/06/2020 1 MONTH LATER, DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY HOME FROM WORK AT NIGHT, CAR DID IT AGAIN, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER SITTING, IT STARTED, BUT WOULD NOT RUN OVER 25 MPR. AND THIS TIME AT SIGNAL LIGHT STOPPED, THE CAR SURGED FORWARD AND ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT. THE CAR IS GOING BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ASAP. THIS CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS
VEHICLE RANDOMLY OVERHEATS THEN GETS BACK TO NORMAL. VARIABLE VALVE ACTUATOR FAILED. AND ALSO CAUSING MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRE. SWISHING NOISE OCCURS AS WELL.
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX 30MPH THE VEHICLE STALLS AND MESSAGE CENTER READS "TO SHIFT, VEHICLE MUST BE STOPPED" THEN STATES "SHIFT TO P THEN DESIRED GEAR. THE RESTART IS ROUGH. VEHICLE IS 2.5YRS OLD WITH 45.5K MILES.
THE SERVICE AIRBAG SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT KEEPS ILLUMINATING. IT WILL STAY ON FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS AND THEN TURN OFF. I HAVE BROUGHT THE JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS ISSUE 5 TIMES. THEY CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE WIRING HARNESS AND THEN OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER. THE AIRBAG LIGHT STILL COMES ON AND OFF. JEEP HAS DONE NOTHING TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION, THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT I SIMPLY HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT. I HAVE FILED FOR ARBITRATION AND THEY HAVE CLAIMED THAT IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. ALL TIMES THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS COME ON, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MOTION. IT HAS HAPPENED IN THE CITY, IT HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, IT HAS HAPPENED AT HIGH SPEEDS AND VERY LOW SPEEDS. IT HAPPENS WHEN GOING STRAIGHT, TURNING, IT REALLY HAS NO PREFERENCE.
I WAS DRIVING AND ALL DASH LIGHTS LITE UP AN MY JEEP SHUT OFF. ONCE JEEP RESTARTED THE BATTERY LIGHT, ENGINE LIGHT, AND START/STOP LIGHT REMAINED ON. WE REPLACED BOTH BATTERIES AND A HOOD PLUG WHICH SEEMED TO WORK. IT HAS BEEN 12 DAYS OR SO AND ALL 3 LIGHTS ARE BACK ON.
'18 JEEP COMPASS- IN REPAIR SHOP 19 TIMES FOR 55 INDIVIDUAL REPAIRS (SEVERAL REOCCURRING) WITH ONLY 14 COMPLETED REPAIRS. HAD LOANER 119 DAYS IN 2YR- 15 ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR TRANSMISSION (DIFFERENTIAL) NOISE 6 ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR STOP/START WARNING AND FUNCTION 5 ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR A/C 5 ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR MICROPHONE (NOT RESOLVED) 2 ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR REMOTE START ISSUES 2 DAMAGES CAUSED BY SHOP 35 ELECTRICAL REPAIR REQUESTS 25 TRANSMISSION/MECHANICAL REPAIR REQUESTED. I'M NOT ABLE TO UPLOAD MY EXCEL SUMMARY NOR THE SERVICE AND LOANER DOCUMENTS DUE TO THE UPLOAD LIMITATIONS, PLEASE REACH OUT AND I CAN SEND A DIFFERENT WAY.
While driving the jeep shuts off and then all lighys come on that are on the dash board. The jeep cannot be restarted nothing works. We have taken it to a dealer more then 5 times in less then 5 months. We replaced both batteries and still had the same issue few days later. they updated pcm module and few days later jeep shut off so the dealer replaced the pcm module. Jeep still ended up shutting off a few different time dealer said battery cable lose and maybe low oil but oil was good. We have been told by dealer they do not know what the issue is even after having a star tech look at the jeep. June 5th 2021 jeep was picked back up from dealer an is sitting in driveway because all light on an jeep oeeps shutting off its unsafe to drive.
I WAS ON THE WAY HOME FROM PURCHASING A USED 2018 JEEP COMPASS WITH 24000 MILES AND THE VEHICLE DIED TWICE WITHIN A COUPLE OF MINUTES WHEN WE PULLED OFF THE I INTERSTATE TO GET SOME FOOD. IT WAS WHEN WE WERE JUST COASTING INTO OUR DESTINATION. THE COMPASS'S PARKING BRAKE LIGHT THEN CAME ON AND A DASH MESSAGE READ "VEHICLE CANNOT SHIFT WHILE MOVING" OR SOMETHING TO THAT EXTENT. IT THEN TURNED OVER MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE STARTING BUT DROVE FINE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DRIVE HOME. HOPING THIS DOES NOT CONTINUE THROUGH THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE.
THE VEHICLE STALLED AFTER PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING FINE BEFORE BEING PARKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TELLING US TO PUT IT IN PARK TO START AND IT TOOK 3 TRIES TO START IT.
I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, LGHT TURNED GREEN AND WENT TO PRESS THE GAS TO GO THRU THE LIGHT BUT CAR STALLED AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST RAN INTO ME AND HAD TO SWERVE TO MISS ME. I HAD TO TURN THE ENTIRE CAR OFF AT THE LIGHT, PUSH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM A FEW TIMES UNTIL TGE LIGHT WENT OFF BEFORE I COULD PROCEED THROUGH THE LIGHT. THIS HAPPENED 6-7 ADDITIONAL TIMES BEFORE I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALORSHIP SERVICED THE CAR 1 WEEK PRIOR AND SAID NOTING WAS FOUND ON THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. CAR HAS STOPPED, JUST QUIT WHILE DRIVING AND BRAKING SYSTEM LIGHT COMES ON. IT HAPPENS WHEN PARKED AND AT A RED LIGHT OR TRYING TO MOVE FORWARD OR WHILE DRIVING. VERY SCARY.

THE CHECK ENGINE AND AUTO START/STOP WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE REVVED UP ABNORMALLY. AFTER TURNING AND RESTARTING THE VEHICLE THREE TIMES, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO QUALITY MOTORS (2022 W MAIN ST, INDEPENDENCE, KS 67301, (620)331-6090) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CYLINDER COMPRESSION TEST SHOWED THAT THE NUMBER 2 CYLINDER WAS FAULTY HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE STALLING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V670000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000.
THE VEHICLE STALLED WHEN GOING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AFTER COMING TO A STOP. THE START/STOP WAS ENABLED AND VEHICLE STARTED UP THEN STALLED WHEN IN INTERSECTION. THE VEHICLE STARTED UP AFTER A FEW TRIES TO DRIVE OUR OF INTERSECTION.
AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A STOP SIGN, I STARTED TO TURN LEFT AND MY EMERGENCY BREAK ENGAGED, CAR STALLED, WOULD NOT START, ADVISERS ME TO PUT IN PARK AND HIT START/STOP BUTTON. I DID SO AND THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD PRESSURE BENEATH IT WHERE I COULD NOT BRAKE AND BEGAN TO ROLL BACK NEARLY HITTING CAR BEHIND ME. FOR 5-10 MINUTES CAR WAS STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROA. TURNED CAR COMPLETELY OFF AND ENGINE LIGHT AND RED LIGHTING LIGHTS CAME ON. AFTER MY TOOLE ATTEMPTS TO RESTART CAR AND DISENGAGE EMERGENCY BRAKE, CAR STARTED AND COULD DRIVE MYSELF BACK HOME. I'M HESISTANT TO EVEN TAKE THE CAR IN, BECAUSE I'VE READ OF MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THIS OCCURRING TO OTHER DRIVERS WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I DON'T FEEL SAFE WITH THE CAR LOCKING UP AND FAILING TO WHERE I CAN EVEN BRAKE OR PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.
THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENED ON MORE THAN ONE INSTANCE AND EACH TIME IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. THE INFORMATION IN THIS REPORT IS FOR THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT, BUT THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED.
MY VEHICLE WILL NOT START ON THE FIRST TRY HAVE TO TRY ABOUT 7 TIMES. THE RADIO HAS STOPPED WORKING, AND I KEEP GETTING RANDOM ERROR MESSAGES POPPING UP ON MY SCREEN.
THE U CONNECT DISPLAY PANEL >GPS/ RADIO ETC. SHUTS DOWN BY ITSELF WHILE I'M DRIVING THE VEHICLE( IN MOTION) ,THE SCREEN GOES BLACK FOR NO APPARENT REASON, THEN RESTARTS ITSELF, ALSO WHILE I'M DRIVING AT ABOUT 35-40 MPH THE ENGINE OR MOTOR ( NOT SURE) MAKES A LOUD SOUND LIKE ITS DOWN SHIFTING ON ITS OWN, ALMOST LIKE ENGINE BRAKING?
SO I'M JUST WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION
WHILE IN MOTION THE ELECTRIC EMERGENCY BRAKE WILL INGAGE ON ITS ON CAUSE THE CAR TO SUDDENLY SLOW DOWN AND STOP, VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY OF IN TRAFFIC. ANOTHER ISSUE WHILE IN MOTION AT RANDOM TIMES THE ' ENGINE' OR TRANSMISSION'? FEELS LIKE IT SLIPS? AND MAKES IT HARD FOR THE CAR TO ACCELERATE ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON AND SAYS SERVICE ENGINE. I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND STOP THE CAR RESTART SO THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T HEAT UP
So I know there was a recall for this year make and model and engine type and even before I knew about this recall I noticed this jeep is burning oil like crazy I have to get an oil change sometimes under every 3,000 miles and its bad I take it to my oil change place they tell me it shouldnt be burning this much oil. I called Jeep to try to see if they could fix it and they are not acknowledging the issue even though there is a recall for this issue in the past they are not adding my VIN for some reason in the recall and my jeep is still under warranty. Please assist in getting my jeep compass added to this recall so they can remediate the safety issue. I will be driving sometimes on the highway and the cheap just stops on me because of this issue. I have two young children and it is very dangerous at times to drive like that. The Carfax can show how often I am taking my Jeep to an oil change so it is not that I am the issue and just not getting oil changes. This has been happening since i purchased the jeep.
2018 JEEP COMPASS WITH AROUND 40,000 MILES WILL SHUT OFF AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, NORMAL DRIVING SPEEDS 30-70 MPH, LEAVING THE POWER STEERING, ELECTRICAL, AND ENGINE DISABLED UNTIL THE CAR IS PARKED, POWER IS OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN THE CAR WILL TURN BACK ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT A DOZEN TIMES TO THIS VEHICLE IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS.
I TOOK IN MY VEHICLE ABOUT A MONTH AGO TO GET A FIX ON A SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ISSUE. IT SEEMED TO BE A PROBLEM WHEN I HAD MY AC ON AND THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT AND SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD TURN ON. I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE AND IT WOULD MAKE A JERKING MOVEMENT WHEN I PUT MY CAR INTO DRIVE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND THEY SAID THAT THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN FIXED. WELL TODAY I GET IN MY CAR TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE DMV AND AS I'M LEAVING THE STREET I LIVE ON MY CAR STOPS WITH NO WARNING. I LET IT REST FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN TURN IT ON AGAIN; IT HESITATES TO TURN ON MAKING A WEIRD SOUND THEN TURNS ON ABOUT 10 SECONDS LATER. I PUT IT IN DRIVE AND IT STARTS TO DRIVE BUT THEN JERKS AND COMPLETELY STOPS. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR AND IF I KNEW I WOULD HAVE ALL THESE ISSUES WITH IT AND BE FEARFUL THAT I COULD'VE GOTTEN INTO A CRASH OR WORSE ON THE HIGHWAY- I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT IT!
CAR KEEPS STOPPING AT LIGHT AND NOT WANTING TO TURN BACK ON
DRIVING AT NIGHT THE CAR STALLED OUT WITH NO WARNING LIGHT OR ANYTHING JUST COMPLETELY SHUT OFF TURNED IT BACK ON THEN DID IT AGAIN AND AGAIN LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME CAUSE I WASN'T VERY FAR THEN THE NEXT DAY TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR HAS AN ISSUE WITH OIL CONSUMPTION BUT I HAD DONE AN OIL CHANGE NOT EVEN 2000 MILES AGO AND I COULDN'T BELIEVE HOW THERE WAS NO WARNING I WAS LUCKY IT WAS AT NIGHT AND THERE WAS NOBODY AROUND DRIVING BEHIND ME AND NOW I'M WAITING 1500 MILES TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AGAIN AND IF IT DOES IT AGAIN THEY SAID I'LL GET A NEW ENGINE I HOPE THIS ISSUE GETS RESOLVED CAN'T BELIEVE THE QUALITY OF THESE CARS IS SO BAD
HAVE HAD TWO ISSUES AND DEALERS CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. A FEW MONTHS AFTER I HAD IT, I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO SHOP , TO BE TOLD THERE IS NOTHING WRONG (NO CODES), NOW FREQUENTLY IT LOOSES POWER LIKE IT WANTS TO STALL OUT. I HAVE TO PULL OVER SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT. AGAIN TAKEN TO SHOP TO BE TOLD THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG (NO CODES). THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME BECAUSE OF RECENT EVENTS ITS BAD GAS. I HAVE A STICK SHIFT, SO YOU CAN FEEL THE POWER LOSS IN FIRST AND SWITCHING TO SECOND. SINCE I DONT WANT TO KEEP GOING, I PULL OVER AS SOON AS I CAN AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. AFTER A SECOND, I RESTART AND EVERYTHING RUNS FINE. AGAIN, BECAUSE ITS NOT THROWING ANY CODES, THE DEALERSHIP/SERVICE CAN FIND ANYTHING WRONG. IT DOESNT MATTER IF ITS FULL TANK OF GAS OR ALMOST EMPTY. NOTE: IF IT STALLS AS IM DRIVING THERE IS A HUGE POTENTIAL FOR AN ACCIDENT. I NEVER THOUGHT THAT BUYING A NEW CAR, I WOULD HAVE TO DEAL WITH THESE ISSUES.

TODAY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY CAR STARTED TO JERK WHICH THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT POPPED UP WITH THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT SAYING IT NEEDED TO BE SERVICED. ONCE THAT APPEARED IN THE MIDDLE OF ME DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE. IT STALLED ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WHERE EVERYONE IS DRIVING 65 MPH AND IT GAVE ME NO TIME TO MOVE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON. ONCE THE CAR CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP IT JERKED AND THE POWER ON THE CAR WENT OFF, SO IT PUT IT ON EMERGENCY BRAKES AND SAID TO STEP ON BRAKE AND PUSH START. I TURNED THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON, SO I BEGAN TO DRIVE AGAIN WITH CAUTION BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL THERE. I DROVE FOR A MILE AND THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT MESSAGE POPPED UP AGAIN, WHICH THEN CAUSE MY VEHICLE TO JERK AND STALL AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. IT PUT IT ON EMERGENCY BRAKE BUT THIS TIME I WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I LET THE CAR COOL DOWN SO I TURNED IT COMPLETELY OFF AGAIN. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST THIS HAS HAPPENED. ITS VERY DANGEROUS AND UNACCEPTABLE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND THE MECHANICS HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS. I NEED TO GET THIS FIXED BECAUSE ITS NOT SAFE FOR ME OR OTHERS DRIVING AROUND ME. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR BECAUSE RANDOM THINGS APPEAR AND CAUSE THE CAR TO FAIL WHILE IN DRIVING. THERE WAS NO MESSAGE OR WARNING ABOUT ANYTHING.
TWICE MY VEHICLE HAS LOST POWER WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN. ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS SEIZE UP, EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGES WITHOUT ME SETTING IT AND UNABLE TO ROLL DOWN WINDOWS.
THE ENGINE USES EXCESSIVE OIL AND THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY
TURNING RIGHT ONTO A STREET AND MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF - I HAD TO STOP COMPLETELY AND CUT IT BACK ON THEN MY LOW OIL PRESSURE LIKE CAME ON. ONCE WE GOT THE VEHICLE HOME AND CHECKED THE OIL WE REALIZED IT WAS VERY DANGEROUSLY LOW AND THIS WAS IN BETWEEN 5,000 MILE OIL CHANGES ... WE HAD TO ADD OIL TO GET IT TO THE MECHANIC SHOP JUST TO GET THE CAR LOOKED AT. THIS HAS HAPPENED AGAIN SINCE AND I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP
2018 JEEP COMPASS STALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF BUSY HIGHWAYS. EXTREMELY UNSAFE. JEEP SAYS ENGINE BURNS OIL TOO FAST. MANY TIMES THERE IS NOT EVEN A WARNING LIGHT. HAS HAPPENED SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. HAPPENS EVERY 1000-2000 MILES. JEEP SAID IT'S A SAFETY FEATURE AND TO JUST ADD OIL. THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND IS NOT A SOLUTION TO THIS DANGEROUS ENGINE THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.
CAR STALLS AFTER STOPPING AND WILL NOT RESTART AS IF ITS NOT GETTING GAS. THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE WILL NOT REGISTER. THE CAR HAS ALSO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY (LESS THAN 10MPH) AND ACTS THE SAME WAY.
CAR STRUGGLES TO START, CAR GAS PEDAL ACTS LIKE IT REVS FORWARD AS IF IM PUSHING THE GAS, CAR HAS GONE THROUGH 2 BATTEIRS AND DOES NOT TURN ON. IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP THIS HAS HAPPENED PLENTY OF TIMES. BACK UP CAMERA SOMETIMES DOES NOT TURN ON, AND AUTOMATIC STOP SHUTS DOWN.
