The park rear view camera stops working for long periods of time. Sometimes it even freezes the whole screen on a black screen.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass Limited. The contact stated that half of the center display touchscreen was delaminating. The contact stated that the failure had caused the touchscreen to randomly engage and disengage the radio and AC system. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no additional information was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.
Car will stall out and shut off in the middle of traffic or I’ll press the brakes and the car will shut off . Also with auto shut off the car will shut off when waiting for car to turn back on to go from a stop light . When taking a sharp turn oil pressure light will flash and then car will throw emergency break on and shut off for example while going around an on ramp to hwy.
My 17 year old son was driving vehicle and it just turned off in middle of highway. The vehicle took several attempts to crank on different occasions. We were told it was a battery so we replaced and it kept happening then found out the oil was extremely low even though we were barely over a 1000 miles since last oil change. They started oil consumption tests and said oh you are super low on 2 of the tests, come the 3rd test they are now saying it’s within spec and just check the oil a couple times before each oil change. Why would have trust my 17 year old to be able to go off to college in an unreliable car?!?!? We have been dealing with this for over and year and now they want us to restart the oil consumption test.
Control arm separating at welding. Other 2018 Jeep Compass Latitudes have this recall so I am unclear why mine is not part of it when I am having the exact same issue.
My remote starter always has a problem. I turn it on it turns off. I have had the smart battery changed. There is always a notification stating pull over car will shut down soon. Then that activates the engine light to come on. Then the remote starter is deactivated. I turn off the car everything disappears like nothing happened a few minutes later I get the same notification pull over safely car will shut off soon.
My vehicle turns off while at a complete stop. The light can turn green and the car would just shut off. No warning lights are on the dashboard.
Received notice for excessive oil consumption recall. Took to dealer to fix recalls. Realized nothing is noted of Jeep excessive oil consumption. Constant oil changes and adding oil. Just got another oil change, all filters changed, drove a couple hundred miles. Oil is low. Car has stalled on me in intersection with my baby in backseat. Had to get pushed to side of road. Engine feels shakey/vibrates randomly but often since I purchased brand new. Engine and fan EXCESSIVELY LOUD with no AC and sometimes in am when just started. No weather conditions to affect that. Check engine would be on then turn off. Auto shop would check it and say everything is good. But it’s clearly not and I’ve been dealing with these issues since I purchased. I shouldn’t stress on my vehicle because I don’t feel safe with my baby. Traveling shouldn’t drain oil. Thank you for your help.
My Jeep has had intermittently headlight issues, along w/ blind spot not working on driver side, + start/stop doesn’t work. I’ve had the headlights replaced, didn’t work. Been told that because issue isn’t happening when in dealers care, then they can’t fix for other issues. ?this didn’t start happening until UCONNECT bricked my radio system with an update and I had to get it repaired (took two months) — I firmly believe it’s a electrical issue that stems from that but nobody (Jeep) is listening.
I bought my vehicle in May of 2019. In May 2021 my car had 34,000 miles on it and the passenger side headlight was out. I took it to the dealership and they replaced my left headlight assembly (vehicle was under warranty). In October 2024, I noticed that my headlight on the passenger side was out again. My vehicle had 56,426 miles on it. I called the dealership (South Point Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram in Austin, TX) up to 9 times and no one responded to my calls. Due to their lack of response, I took it to a shop up the road that specializes in Jeeps. When the shop took a look at the issue, they found that both headlights were actually out. First they tried just replacing the bulbs, and that didn't work. So they replaced the entire headlight assembly on both sides. This fixed the issue for maybe 3 weeks. My headlights are still out. I took it back to the shop for help and they told me they cannot help me, as everything looks to be set up right. I have spent over $1,200 in repair costs and ubers to get this issue fixed and I am at a loss. Looks like this is a common issue with 2018 Jeep Compasses. I filed a case against Jeep and they immediately denied my case. This is very concerning given I do have to drive at night and early mornings to travel to work.
BACK UP CAMERA DOES NOT WORK SCREEN KEEPS GOING BLACK WITH MESSAGE SERVICE NOT AVAILABLE. BEEN OVER A WEEK SINCE LAST WORKED. BEEN GOING ON AND OFF SINCE BOUGHT THIS CAR. NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE IS SAFETY
COOLANT TEMPERATURE SHOOTS UP (HOT) FOR 5 -30 SECONDS THEN ENGINE STALLS. CAN'T RESTART OR STALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. HAS HAPPENED STATIONERY, IN MOTION, TURNING, FREEWAY AND CITY STREETS. ALSO CAN HAS HAPPENED ALL 4 SEASONS: FALL,, SPRING, SUMMER AND WINTER. HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR 2 YEARS AND NO DEALERSHIP CAN FIND OUT WHAT'S WRONG.
THE FRONT STABILIZER BAR END LINKS HAD TO BE REPLACED AFTER 25000 MILES. THIS VEHICLE IS ABOUT 2.5 YEARS OLD. THE WORK ORDER SAYS REPLACE FRONT SWAY BAR LINKS. ISN'T THAT A BIT EARLY TO BE REPLACING LINKS LIKE THIS. THE CAR IS A DAILY DRIVE AND DOES NOT GO OFF ROAD FOR ANYTHING. THE CAR WAS MAKING A RATTLING NOISE WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN FOR SERVICE.
EVER SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FROM MARCH 2018 WHEN DRIVING (IN MOTION) MY EMERGENCY BRAKE WILL COME ON AND SHUT ME DOWN, I HAVE HAD ENOUGH! YESTERDAY 5/4/2021 I WAS ALMOST HIT BY A SEMI BECAUSE OF THIS. JEEP HAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED THIS ISSUE. CAR HAS BEEN BROUGHT IN TO DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES BUT I KEEP BEING TOLD THEY CANNOT RECREATE THE ISSUE ( AS IT IS SPARATIC).
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while coming to a complete stop, the vehicle would stall. The contact had to restart the vehicle in order to drive again. The failure would occur 3 times every week. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer test drove the vehicle for 16 miles, however, the dealer could not replicate the failure. The vehicle was then taken to another dealer Cerritos Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM (18803 Studebaker Rd, Cerritos, CA 90703) but the dealer could not replicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer Cerritos Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to another dealer for diagnosis. The manufacturer also opened a case but denied buying back the vehicle. The failure mileage was 49,239.
I BOUGHT MY JEEP BRAND NEW WITH ZERO MILES IN 2018 AND HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY BACK UP CAMERA SINCE THEN. MY BACK UP CAMERA FOR MY JEEP RANDOMLY AND CONTINUOUSLY GOES BLACK. THIS CAN LAST A DAY OR UP TO A WEEK I AM WITHOUT A BACK UP CAMERA. JEEP HAS REPLACED THE RADIO TWICE AND HAVE REPLACE THE CAMERA ITSELF ONCE. I'VE TAKEN MY CAR TO GET SERVICE FOR BACK UP CAMERA TO JEEP MULTIPLE TIMES. THE LAST TIME I WAS AT JEEP THEY REPLACED MY RADIO AND IT HASN'T BEEN A MONTH YET AND MY BACK UP CAMERA IS NOT WORKING THE SCREEN IS BLACK. TODAY IS MONDAY, MAY 3 AND I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A BACK UP CAMERA SINCE FRIDAY APRIL 30TH. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR.I HAVE VIDEO PROOF EVERY TIME THE BACKUP CAMERA GOES OUT BUT I'VE ATTACHED A PICTURE OF THE BLACK SCREEN.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled. Additionally, while driving around corners the vehicle stalled. The vehicle failed to start on several occasions. The contact purchased a jump box. The shift lever in park, emergency brake, auto start, and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed that the vehicle needed to be reset. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The contact stated the failure was like NHTSA Campaign number: 18V524000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no further assistance was provided. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer Gladstone Dodge Chrysler Jeep & Ram (5610 N Oak Traffic way, Gladstone, MO 64118) but vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 43,000.
My vehicle has nearly killed my entire family multiple times now, stalling out on the highway going 75 miles an hour, shutting off because I turned a corner, rarely starting and having to buy a jump box because my vehicle doesn't want to start due to have a bad PCM according to U87 recall that my VIN isn't included in. I have been lied to by your staff every single time I have called, I am hopeful to get the class action lawsuit that so many states have going on in Missouri as well. My vehicle is extremely dangerous and going to kill my family it will be your fault it, I will ensure that an attorney is well aware of the lack of empathy, the lack of action your company has done, and downright refusal to do the necessary repairs to make my vehicle safe.
OIL BURNS THROUGH OIL EXCESSIVELY, 2,900 MILES AFTER OIL CHANGE, EVERY OIL CHANGE THE VEHICLE STARTS ALARMING OIL PRESSURE LOW AND WILL JUST SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. I'VE ALMOST GOT INTO MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS. IT'S DANGEROUS, NO WARNING EXCEPT THE ALARM WHICH COMES ON AS THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF
ON N/B I5 BETWEEN ALBANY AND SALEM OREGON, TRAVELING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 73MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN ABRUPTLY BRAKING ON IT'S OWN. IN A MATTER OF SECONDS THE VEHICLE WENT FROM 73MPH TO APPROXIMATELY 45MPH, AND HARD/FAST ENOUGH TO LOCK THE SEAT BELT. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY, TURNED BACK ON/OFF AGAIN, AND DRIVEN TO THE DESTINATION WITHOUT ISSUES. LUCKILY THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AT ABOUT 430AM AND THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC. HAD THERE BEEN TRAFFIC A COLLISION WOULD'VE BEEN IMMINENT AND UNAVOIDABLE.
MY FORWARD COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM GAVE A FALSE POSITIVE WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY ROAD WAY. IT ACTIVATED THE BRAKING SYSTEM WHEN THERE WERE NO VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME FOR AT LEAST 40 YARDS AND CAUSING A VEHICLE THAT WAS FOLLOWING ME TO HAVE TO BREAK AND SWERVE TO MISS HITTING ME. I WAS ON RT 15 IN SHAMOKIN DAM AROUND 12:30 PM GOING 30 MPH
I HAVE A 2018 JEEP COMPASS LATITUDE AND ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS HAVE HAD THE CAR STALL AT RED LIGHTS WHEN SHUTTING OFF FROM BRAKING, WHEN RELEASING MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE THE CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE WITH OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND ME. IN THESE INSTANCES I HAVE HAD TO PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND THEN POWER IT OFF AND RESTART IT AS THE QUICKEST FIX. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED TO ME IN DRIVE THRUS WHILE STOPPING TO PAY AND AT STOP SIGNS, ALL DOING THE SAME THING AFTER BRAKING AND THE AUTOMATIC START/STOP ENGAGING. THE OTHER ISSUE I HAVE HAD HAS OCCURED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD/HIGHWAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME THREE TIMES NOW. IN ONE INSTANCE I WAS GOING 30 MPH AND MY CAR JUST STOPPED ACCELERATING AND THE POWER STIRRING NO LONGER WOULD WORK, THE SCREEN DISPLAYED A MESSAGE SAYING TO PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK AND THAT MY VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE STARTED BEFORE IT COULD BE SHIFTED AND THE D SHOWN ON MY DASH WAS BLINKING. WHEN THE CAR STARTED TO SLOW I TRIED TO PULL OVER, BUT MY POWER STIRRING WOULDN'T WORK AND I WAS FROCED TO STAY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. ANOTHER TIME I WAS TRUNING A CORNER AT A RED LIGHT AND IN THE PROCESS OF THE TURN GOING AROUND 15 MPH MY CAR DASH SHOWED THE SAME MESSAGE AND PERFORMED THE SAME WAY WITH NO POWER STIRRING. THE THIRD TIME I WAS GOING 55 MPH DOWN A HIGHWAY AND THE CAR DID THE SAME THING. IN EACH OF THESE INSTANCES I PUT MY CAR IN PARK, PRESSED THE BREAK AND THE START BUTTON AND THE CAR DID NOT START, ON THE SECOND TIME IT DID NOT START AS WELL AND SOUNDED AS IF MY CAR WAS NOT GOING TO START AT ALL AND STALLED LIKE THE BATTERY WAS DEAD, WHICH IT CLEARLY WAS NOT. EVENTUALLY THE CAR STARTS AND I COULD THEN SHIFT TO DRIVE AND PROCEED AS NORMAL. THIS IS NOT OKAY THOUGH, AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. MY CAR IS NOT VERY OLD AND DOES NOT HAVE A LOT OF MILES ON IT AT THE TIMES THESE OCCURED I WAS AT 31,000- 36,000 MILES.
SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IS HAVING PROBLEM WITH THE OIL I SENT TO THE PLACE WHERE I BOUGHT THEY SAID IS ALL CARS 2018 JEEP COMPASS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE OIL NEED TO BE CHANGE EVERY 1000 MILE (IT DOES IT COUPLE OF TIMES) WHEN I DRIVE THE CAR ON HIGHWAYS OR ON THE ROAD CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN IN ITS OWN, THEN I HAVE MANUALLY RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER A FEW MINUTES, STARTS NORMALLY
THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THE START/STOP FEATURE WAS ENGAGED. WHEN MY FOOT WAS TAKEN OFF THE BRAKE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART LIKE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO. I PUT IT IN PARK AND TRIED TO RESTART IT AND IT WOULD NOT RESTART. THE BATTERY WAS NOT DEAD AS THE LIGHTS WERE WORKING AS WELL AS MANY WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IN THREE YEARS THAT THIS VEHICLE WILL GO TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A SIMILAR ISSUE. THE DIAGNOSES SEEMS TO BE DIFFERENT EACH TIME, BUT ULTIMATELY I TAKE IT IN FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND IT STILL HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT LEFT ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF FOUR LANE HIGHWAY. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE ON THE INTERSTATE. EVENTUALLY THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT AND COULD POSSIBLY KILL ME OR MY FAMILY. IT'S HAPPENED TWICE IN START/STOP MODE AT A STOP LIGHT AND ONCE IN MOTION ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70MPH.
MY CAR FLASHED A WARNING TO "STOP SAFELY VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF SOON" AND CAR SHUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET! THERE IS A POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE RECALL FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL BUT MINE WASN'T INCLUDED, I GUESS. A CAR GOING DOWN THE STREET AND SUDDENLY COMING TO A COMPLETE, UNINITIATED STOP IS EXTREMELY SCARY AND DANGEROUS. I WOULD THINK IF THIS IS HAPPENING, THEN THE PCM SHOULD BE REPLACED, BUT THE DEALERSHIP ISN'T ON BOARD WITH THIS. THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO SINCE THEY CAN'T RE-CREATE THE ERROR. MY SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH HAS SHOWN THIS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2018 JEEP COMPASS.
ON JANUARY 30TH, 2021 I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROUTE 9, I STOPPED ON A RED LIGHT, WHEN IT TURNED GREEN, I WAS ABOUT TO GO AHEAD BUT MY CAR JUST SHUT OFF, I COULD NOT TURN IT ON AGAIN, I CALLED A TOW, WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE MAIN AND AUX BATTERY, THEY CHARGED $555.15 THE NEXT DAY, WHEN I WAS GOING TO DRIVE THE CAR AGAIN, I TURNED ON AND SEVERAL MESSAGES POPED UP ON THE SCREEN: "STOP SAFELY VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF SOON' 'SERVICE ANTILOCK BREAK SYSTEM' '4WD UNAVAILABLE' 'SERVICE BREAK SYSTEM' AFTER ALL THOSE MESSAGES THE CAR SHUT OFF. I CALLED THE TOW, WE WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND THEY TOLD ME THE PROBLEM WAS A WIRE CONNECTION. AFTER THAT I DROVE THE CAR NORMALLY BUT ON APRIL 10TH, 2021 I TRIED TO TAKE MY CAR AND I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, SAME MESSAGES, I CALLED THE TOW AND WE WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN. I AM AFRAID OF MY SAFETY AND OTHERS WHILE I AM DRIVING, THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT GIVE MORE INFORMATION ABOUT IT, THEY DO NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, AND I THINK AN INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE CONDUCTED IMMEDIATELY TO KNOW IF THE CAR MUST BE RECALL.
the backup camera is black sometimes when backing up, sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.
CAR SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN ON ME AUTOMATICALLY WHILE PULLING ONTO HIGHWAYS AT 60MPH IT ENGAGED PARKING BRAKE AND DISPLAYED A MESSAGE ON SCREEN THAT STATED "PLACE SHIFTER INTO PARK AND RESTART". I HEADED FOR THE DEALERSHIP INSTANTLY. AFTER OIL CONSUMPTION TEST IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD BE REPLACED. ENGINE WAS REPLACE MID NOVEMBER 2020. NOT EVEN 3000 MILES ON THE NEW ENGINE IT ONCE AGIAN STALLED OUT AND ENGAGED PARKING BRAKE. OIL IS NOT LOW. "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" IS ON AND CAR BOGS DOWN WHEN ACCELERATED. CAN NOT DRIVE IN NORMAL TRAFFIC. ALMOST LIKE TRANSMISSION IS GOING. I HAVE TWO CHILDREN UNDER 2YRS OLD AN ITS OUR ONLY CAR! I EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS ABOUT THE SAFTEY OF THE JEEP AND IT DEFINITELY IS NOT 5HERE AT ALL! MY WIFE AND I DO NOT TRUST DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ONE MORE MILE.
ENGINE CUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING ON ROADWAY LOSS OF OIL IS NOT SAFE ON HIGHWAY FOR FEAR ON CUTTING OF.WILL START BACK UP 10 MINUTES AFTER STALLING
THE VEHICLE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WILL ALL START TO FLASH, CANNOT ACCELERATE CAR, CAUSING ME TO PULL OVER AS BEST I CAN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT THESE CARS ARE KNOWN FOR EATING UP OIL AT AN ALARMING RATE. THE PROBLEM IS TEMPORARILY FIXED BY ADDING A QUART OF ENGINE OIL. THIS OCCURS AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH AND IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING BECAUSE THERE IS NO WARNING. THERE IS NO 'LOW OIL' LIGHT THAT COMES ON. I HAVE YOUNG KIDS AND I FEEL STUCK WITH THIS LEMON. I ALSO HEAR A LOUD RATTLING COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE, UNDER THE HOOD BUT CANNOT SEE ANYTHING. I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY AND WAS TOLD THAT DUE TO SOMETHING ELECTRICAL, IT CAUSED MY BATTERY TO COMPLETELY DIE. THIS CAR IS EXTREMELY UNRELIABLE AND UNSAFE.
CAR DIES WHILE DRIVING FOR NO REASON. INTERMITTENTLY. TRANSMISSION INTERMITTENTLY JERKS INTO GEAR. INSTRUMENT PANEL INTERMITTENTLY DOES NOT COME ON UNTIL RESTART. KEY FOBS (MAIN FOB AND SPARE) INTERMITTENTLY DO NOT FUNCTION. (BATTERIES ARE NOT THE ISSUE)
ALIGNMENT WENT OUT ON CAMBER, NO FACTORY ADJUSTMENT IS AVAILABLE. THE CHOICE IS WEAR TIRES UNEVEN AND RISK A BLOW OUT OR PUT IN AFTER MARKET ADJUSTMENTS. ALIGNMENT IS A NORMAL PART OF THE MAINTENANCE OF THE VEHICLE, NOT MAKING THE ADJUSTMENTS AVAILABLE IS WRONG AND MAKES THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITHOUT GREATER COST TO THE CONSUMER.
JEEP HAS STOPPED COLD FOR TWICE IN THE PAST WEEK WHILE IN DRIVE. TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON THE SECOND TIME. I AM AT 76,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT BE GOING OUT YET.
THE VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. INTERIOR ELECTRICAL STOPS WORKING FIRST. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY AND ON A TOWN SIDE STREET. THE STRUT AND SWAY BAR LINKAGE HAVE GONE BAD AND NEED TO BE REPLACED.
THE TRANSMISSION JERKED WHICH FELT LIKE IT WENT IN REVERSE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD
VEHICLE ONLY HAD 25000 MILES AND HAD ELECTRIC ISSUES, ACCELERATION ISSUES, STOP AND GO WOULD STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING PUTTING ME AND MY CHILD IN DANGER. ONLY GOING A HIGH OF 50 ON THE FREEWAY THEN SLOWING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, PLUS REPLACING 2 BATTERIES A YEAR SINCE HAVING THE CAR. I HAVE SENT INFORMATION TO CORPORATE. ITEMS HAVE CLEARLY BEEN DOCUMENTED BUT NOTHING DONE TO SOLVE THE ISSUE THAT CONTINUES.
FOR MONTHS MY JEEP HAS HAD ISSUES. ALL THE DASH LIGHTS WILL LIGHT UP WARNING ME OF ISSUES. THE JEEP HAS STOPPED DEAD WHILE DRIVING AND NO WARNING . THERE ARE TIMES I START THE JEEP AN LIGHTS COME SO I TURN IT OFF AND RESTART AND THE LIGHTS GO AWAY. OTHER TIMES I WILL BE DRIVING AND THE LIGHTS COME ON. I HAVE REPLACED BOTH BATTERIES, A PLUG UNDER THE HOOD, AND THE PCM MODULE WAS REPAIRED BY A DEALERSHIP. TODAY I WAS DRIVING AN ALL LIGHTS CAME ON, THE JEEP SHUT OFF, AND IT TOOK ALMOST 20 MINUTES BEFORE THE JEEP WOULD START. I HAD IT PUT ON A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE TODAY AND THEY SUGGESTED TAKE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO CODES. THESE ARE THE CODES C2502, P2504, AMD P2AF5. I WAS TOLD I NO LONGER AM COVERED UNDER WARRANTY HOWEVER THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING AND ITS A 2018 JEEP. *TR
HAND BRAKE, PART # 6MF41LXH-AA, SWITCH BR 08058060, DUE TO VEHICLE DESIGN AND BEING ACCEPTABLE TO UNDERNEATH RAIN WATER, PUDDLES, SLUSSHES, BUT NO HIGH WATERS OR FLOODS, WHEN ENGAGED IN PARK WILL NOT DISENGAGE,AND NOT MOVABLE, AND MUST BE TRANSPORTED TO BE FACTORY OR DEALER REPAIRED/ REPLACEED AT A HIGH OWNER EXPENSE PLUS THE INCONVIENCE OF NOT HAVING USE OF THE JEEP.
I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR CLOSE TO A YEAR AND I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. EACH TIME WHEN I'M CALLED TO PICK UP THE CAR AND AM TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN SOLVED/REPAIRED, I DRIVE A FEW BLOCKS AND THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT COMES ON. SIMULTANEOUSLY THE STOP/START FEATURE CONKS OUT. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS DANGEROUS IN THAT I DON'T KNOW IF THERE TRULY IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE OR IS IT JUST A FAULTY LIGHT. THE START/STOP FEATURE DOESN'T ALARM ME AS MUCH, BUT IT ADDS TO THE COMPLEXITY OF THE ENGINE ISSUE.

MILLER SOUTHWEST HYUNDAI ALBUQUERQUE (8800 LOMAS BLVD NE, ALBUQUERQUE, NM 87112, (505) 404-0136) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN WIRE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that the passenger’s side headlamp suddenly failed to illuminate as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the headlamp and the relay on separate occasions. After the replacement the driver’s side headlamp operated intermittently. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000. The contact stated that the manufacturer refused to cover the cost of the repair.
CAR NEEDED A NEW ENGINE ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO FOR BURNING OIL. DURING THIS TIME I STALLED ON A BUSY ROAD AND SOMEONE ALMOST HIT ME. LAST WEEK I WAS IN FLORIDA AND MY CAR WOULD NOT START, IT THEN STARTED SMOKING UNDERNEATH AND A SMALL FIRE WAS STARTED. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND IS CURRENTLY STILL THERE WITH AN CHRYSLER ENGINEER COMING TO INSPECT WHAT HAPPENED. I HAVE ATTACHED A COPY OF THE TEXT MESSAGE EXCHANGE WITH CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IN FLORIDA TO DESCRIBE THE ISSUE. THE WHAT SOUNDS LIKE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE OCCURRED ON 2/6/21. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. THIS CAR IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE.
Since the middle of last year (2020), the radio and back up camera have been completely glitchy. It started with the Favorites function not working with Sirius XM, then progressed to the screen freezing, not responding to any screen touches or knobs on the dashboard until eventually rebooting or staying on the back up camera picture until ultimately rebooting. Now I have both of those things and in addition, the back up camera will also turn to a blue screen and stay blue until it eventually reboots. I have taken this to the dealership MULTIPLE times. They have replaced the entire radio twice. They have done what they can to get the needed software updates. There is still no solution. This is making me hate my vehicle and I would like a solution before I trade it in for something different
MULTIPLE TIMES I WOULD TRY TO START THE VEHICLE AND THE BATTERY WOULD BE DEAD. AFTER JUMPING THE CAR OFF IT WOULD OPERATE WITHOUT A PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP AND HAD IT CHECKED BUT NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND. ON 02/01/2021 THE CAR AGAIN WOULD NOT START. I HAD A MECHANIC JUMP THE CAR OFF AND I LET IT IDLE TO BUILD UP THE BATTERY. AFTER A FEW MINUTES THERE WAS A NOISE AND THEN SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THEN FIRE!
DURING ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION (MOSTLY ON INCLINES OR HIGHWAY TRAVEL), THE SHIFTING OF THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO "SLAM" INTO DIFFERENT GEARS. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THEY CANNOT CHECK FOR ISSUES WITH THE DRIVETRAIN IF THERE ARE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY BUT IS INCREASING IN FREQUENCY.
Dealer had to replace motor cause of oil usage and motor tapping. And know its worse. They even done something to my steering or something plus runs like crud
MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY THE CAR SUDDENLY TURNED OFF AND THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED. I WAS ABLE TO PUT ON HAZARDS BUT MY VEHICLE WAS STOPPED ON AN ON RAMP AND WOULDN'T START UP RIGHT AWAY. LOOKING INTO THE PROBLEM A LITTLE MORE AFTER I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME, THIS CAR IS KNOWN TO HAVE AN EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE. I CHANGED MY OIL MYSELF 4 MONTHS AGO AND AM WORKING FROM HOME, THERE HAS BEEN MINIMAL DRIVING. WHEN I CHECKED THE OIL, IT BARELY REACHED THE DIPSTICK. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND ASKED WHAT JEEP IS DOING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, THE RESPONSE WAS TO BRING MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE (WHICH IT DOESN'T NEED) AND TO BRING THE CAR BACK EVERY 500 MILES FOR AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THAT IS ALL JEEP IS DOING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THERE IS NO WARNING THAT YOUR OIL IS LOW, YOUR CAR WILL JUST TURN OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING IT. EXTREMELY TERRIFYING.
THE CAR STOPPED (COMPLETELY) SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE WAS NO WARNING, NOTHING. JUST SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS GOING 55+

The contact stated that the front driver, front driver knee, and front passenger airbags deployed upon impact. The police arrived at the scene and the contact was given a ticket for speeding due to the airbags deploying; the contact maintained that she was driving at a low rate of speed. The contact was uncertain if a police report was filed. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to her home. After the accident, the contact sought medical attention for injuries to her chest and neck. The manufacturer nor the dealer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the contact. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.
