PROBLEMS WITH THE DIFFERENTIAL ON VEHICLE.*MR THE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE WHILE DRIVING 50-65 MPH. THE DIFFERENTIAL UNIT WAS REPLACED. *NM
WHILE CONSUMER WAS DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AT ANY SPEED IT PULSATED. VEHICLE WAS SERVICED SIX TIMES FOR BRAKES AND ROTORS, BUT PROBLEM RECURRED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED CONSUMER EXPERIENCED TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, ESPECIALLY SHIFTING FROM SECOND GEAR TO THIRD GEAR. ON ONE OCCASION VEHICLE STALLED DUE TO THE GEARS NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED EVERY DAY SINCE OWNERSHIP OF THE VEHICLE.*AK
THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS ON MY 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WARPE ABOUT EVERY 10,000 MILES. I AM ABOUT TO REPLACE THEM FOR THE THIRD TIME AT 42000 MILES! AT 31000 MILES, THE LOCAL JEEP DEALER INSTALLED A "FIT" KIT" WHICH OBVIOUSLY HAS NOT WORKED. THE BRAKE PROBLEM IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS HAPPENED, I WAS TRAVELING DOWN A STEEP ROAD IN THE SIERRA/NEVADA MOUNTAINS AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SEVERE SHAKING AND STEERING WHEEL JERKING DURING BREAKING. I HAD TO GEAR DOWN AND TRAVEL VERY SLOWLY UNTIL I REACHED LEVEL GROUND. AFTER INTENSE QUESTIONING, THE DEALER (JOE KERLEY: SAN JOSE CA) ACKNOWLEDGED THE FREQUENCY OF THIS PROBLEM. SO HAS CHRYSLER VIA THE "REPAIR KIT". A CALL TO CHRYSLER INDICATED THAT THEY WONT ACT BECAUSE ROTERS ARE AN WEAR ITEM. I BELLIEVE THAT THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO HURT OR KILL SOMEONE. PLEASE GET ON THE BALL AND INVESTIGATE AND ORDER A RECALL. *AK
(1) WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH WHILE IN CRUISE CONTROL ACCELERATOR PEDAL WOULD NOT DISENGAGE WHEN I A)TAPPED THE BRAKE, B)MANUALLY TURNED OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL, AND C)WHEN I PHYSICALLY ATTEMPTED TO PULL UP ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE SPEED OF THE CAR INCREASED STEADILY, NEARING 90 MPH, BEFORE I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, PRESSING BOTH FEET (FULL BODY WEIGHT) ON THE BRAKES AND HAD THE GOOD FORTUNE OF MANY STEEP HILLS, WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE CAR TO 25 MPH, ALLOWING ME TO MOVE TO AN OFF RAMP AND TURNING OFF THE ENGINE. THE CAR WAS TOWED APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES TO THE JEEP DEALER WHO INFORMED ME THAT ALL THAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR WAS THAT THERE WAS A LOT OF CARBON BUILD-UP AROUND THE ACCELERATOR CABLE, AND THAT IS WHY IT STUCK. THEY SAID THAT "WE SEE THIS ALOT IN JEEPS THAT ARE DRIVEN ALOT IN THE CITY". UNFORTUNATELY, THIS WAS NOT THE CASE WITH MY JEEP, WHICH WAS REGULARLY DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY (~100 MILES EACH WEEKEND), AS WELL AS THE FACT THAT I HAD JUST DRIVEN FROM PITTSBURGH TO INDIANAPOLIS AND WAS RETURNING HOME WHEN THIS OCCURRED. ANY CARBON IN MY ENGINE SHOULD HAVE BEEN REMOVED THROUGH THIS MUCH DRIVING.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH DRIVER'S FOOT WAS STUCK ON ACCELERATOR PEDAL DUE TO A SEIZURE. THE PASSENGER TRIED TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF VEHICLE BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. VEHICLE WENT AIR BORNE AND LANDED ON TOP, CRASHING INTO A BRICK WALL. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES, AND WERE TRANSPORTED BY AN AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH THE VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WERE WORN. AFTER THE PARTS WERE REPLACED THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *NM *SC *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TAIL AND BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE SOCKETS AND BULBS WERE REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURER'S RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 156,000.
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. CONSUMER MAINTAINED CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT BRAKE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CORROSION. MECHANIC REPLACED THE ROTORS SEVEN TIMES, BUT PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER ON THREE OCCASIONS. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, VEHICLE INSTANTLY LOOSES ALL POWER. OBVIOUS PROBLEMS NAVIGATING TO SHOULDER ON MULTILANE HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC. COULD EASILY BE STRANDED IN LANE. DIFFICULTY STEERING. REQUIRES TOWING. HAS OCCURRED THREE TIMES IN LAST TWO YEARS, TWICE IN LAST MONTH. FIRST TIME, REPLACED COMPUTER. SECOND TIME, REPLACED TRANSMISSION SENSOR. THIRD TIME, UNDETERMINED. *AK
FRONT SEAT BROKE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. *TR
THE GAS GAUGE REGISTERED A FALSE READING OF THE GASOLINE WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO RUN OUT OF GAS. THE DRIVER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM NEEDED REPLACING DUE TO A WORN SENSOR. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
WHILE I AM GENERALLY VERY SATISFIED WITH MY 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, I AM WRITING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT A CHRONIC PROBLEM I HAVE EXPERIENCED. IN 2000, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS VERY NEW, I NOTICED VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL. MY JEEP WAS REPAIRED FOR WARPED ROTORS AND THE BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED AND THE ROTORS CUT. THEN, IN 03/02, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE SECOND TIME. THEN AGAIN IN 03/03, THE SAME PROBLEM! THIS TIME, THE FOLKS AT RAMSEY JEEP TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE INSTALLING A "KIT" THAT WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM FOR GOOD. AT THIS TIME, I WAS VERY HAPPY TO KNOW THAT JEEP REALIZED THE PROBLEM AND THOUGHT MY TROUBLES WERE OVER. NOW IN 04/04, I AM SORRY TO REPORT THAT I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND I DON'T NEED THE TECHNICIANS AT JEEP TO TELL ME WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THE ROTORS WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT FOR THE FOURTH TIME IN $60000 MILES. *AK
I OWN A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED W/ 36,000 MILES BRAKES PULSATE AT 40 MPH AND ALMOST OUT OF CONTROLL @ 55 MPH AND OVER WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. ALMOST SIDE SWIPED A BUS WITH MY CHILD IN CAR TO KEEP IT ON THE ROAD. HAVE RETURNED TO DEALER ( JOHN IRISH AUTO PLAZA SAN RAFAEL CA) JIM GRAVES HAS BEEN VERY UNDERSTANDING. ITS NOT THE DEALER I AM UPSET IT IS WITH CHRYSLER/ DAIMLER!!! THEY HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM , ARE THEY WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO DIE!!! ROTOR ARE WARPING AT 15,000 MILE INTERVALS. DEALER SAYS THEY ARE HAVING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING WARPED ROTORS. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN BRAKING THE VEHICLE, STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKE PEDAL SHAKE AND SHIMMY EXCESSIVELY. DEALER REPLACED ROTORS AT 14,804 MILES. VEHICLE NOW HAS 31,255 MILES AND EXACT SAME PROBLEM IS OCCURRING. DEALER WON'T REPAIR UNLESS I PAY FOR IT. CHYRSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE WON'T AUTHORIZE ANY REPAIR, JUST SAID WRITE A LETTER. DISGUSTED WITH CHRYSLER AFTER SEEING THIS WEBSITE. WILL CHRYSLER WAIT UNTIL THERE IS A FATALITY BEFORE THEY PUT IN A RECALL? NO MORE CHRYSLER VEHICLES IN THIS HOUSEHOLD. *LA
ROTORS ON VEHICLE WARPED AT 14,000 MILES. DEALER REPLACED THEM. NOW AFTER ANOTHER 14,000 MILES THEY ARE WARPED AGAIN. DEALER SAYS THEY ARE HAVING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING WARPED ROTORS. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN BRAKING THE VEHICLE, STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKE PEDAL SHAKE AND SHIMMY EXCESSIVELY MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. DEALER WON'T REPAIR UNLESS I PAY FOR IT. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE WON'T ASSIST, THEY SAY WRITE A LETTER TO LET US KNOW. AFTER FINDING THIS WEBSITE I AM THOROUGHLY DISGUSTED WITH CHRYSLER'S LACK OF CONCERN FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE. WILL CHRYSLER WAIT UNTIL THERE IS A FATALITY BEFORE THEY ISSUE A RECALL? AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS FAILED. CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED THAT THE OCCUPANTS WOULD BECOME TRAPPED INSIDE THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY. *AK *NM
AFTER HAVING A FUEL PUMP REPLACED FOR SLOW STARTING, OUR 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE BEGAN SUDDENLY ACCELLERATING FOR NO REASON OR PATTERN (BUT MOSTLY AT STARTUP). WE TOOK THE AUTO TO THE LOCAL JEEP DELERSHIP IN BRIGHAM --- WHERE IT IS NOW. WE TOLD THEM WE WERE CONCERNED ABOUT SAFTEY BECAUSE OF THE NEWS COVERAGE OF A SIMILAR JEEP UNEXPECTADLY ACCELLERATING, JUMPING A CURB AND HITTING 3 PEOPLE IN SLC. IN LOOKING AT THE INTERNET, WE FOUND SEVERAL SIMLAR SAFTEY COMPLAINTS AND THAT JEEP(CHRYSLER/DEMLER) HAS DETERMINED THERE IS NOT ENOUGH OF A PATTERN TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. I CAN EASILY SEE HOW THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE SEVERE AND DIRE RESULTS AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED
THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES AND ROTORS HAVE HAD TO BE REPAIRED OFTEN. *NM THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THE ROTORS WERE TOO SMALL FOR THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER HEARD A POP NOISE WHEN TAKING OFF OR STOPPING INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE SHIMMIED AT 60 MPH AND WHEN THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN. OIL LEAKED FROM THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. THE VEHICLE DOOR LOCK MADE A BAD GRINDING NOISE WHEN THE CONSUMER USED THEY KEY TO ACCESS THE VEHICLE. *TC *JB
2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED HAS A DEFECTIVE ENGINE. (NAR). *MR WHILE BRAKING THE FRONT END VIBRATED. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND WOULD RESURFACE THE ROTORS UNDER WARRANTY. AT 26500 MILES THE ROTORS FAILED AGAIN AND THIS TIME THE WERE REPLACED. AT 49000 MILES THE PROBLEM RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO SUGGESTED THAT THE PARTS USED WERE OF POOR QUALITY. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO PAY TO REPLACE THE PARTS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. *NM * CB
I AM WRITING TO EXPRESS MY FRUSTRATION AND ANGER REGARDING MY 2000 GRAND CHEROKEE. SINCE THIS PAST OCTOBER, I HAVE EXPERIENCED A MYRIAD OF PROBLEMS WHICH INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: 1. A BROKEN VENTILATION DEFLECTOR WHICH PREVENTS ANY AIR FROM COMING THROUGH THE VENTILATION. I SPENT NEARLY $100.00 TO FIND OUT THAT IT IS A $37.00 PART WITH $500.00 IN LABOR JUST TO INSTALL IT. I HAVE CHILDREN IN THE CAR, AND THE SUMMER HEAT OF 100+ DEGREES IS IN MY MIND, DANGEROUS. 2. ALL OF THE PASSENGER DOORS CANNOT BE OPENED EITHER MANUALLY OR REMOTELY FROM THE OUTSIDE OR INSIDE. I RECEIVED AN ESTIMATE TO REPLACE THE LOCK ACTUATORS AT A STAGGERING COST OF $500.00 PER LOCK! THE DOORS CANT BE OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE OR FROM THE INSIDE WITHOUT SYSTEMATICALLY UNLOCKING THE DOORS WITH THE REMOTE, THEN REACHING IN FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THEM FROM THE INSIDE. IT DOESNT TAKE A GENIUS TO SEE THAT THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE IF I HAPPEN TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE PASSENGERS (CHILDREN) ARE UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE JEEP MECHANIC SAID THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH JEEPS FOR QUITE A WHILE. 3. THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR BROKE WHEN MY WIFE WAS ADJUSTING THE ANGLE OF THE MIRROR. THERE IS NOW NO TENSION TO HOLD THE MIRROR IN PLACE. ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS BEGAN 8 MONTHS AGO AND I AM MORE THAN A LITTLE ANGRY ABOUT IT, ESPECIALLY WHEN NONE OF THESE ITEMS ARE COVERED PAST THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY. ALL TOLLED, I AM LOOKING AT SPENDING SOMEWHERE IN THE RANGE OF $3000.00 TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS. RIGHT NOW I AM EXTREMELY UNSATISFIED CUSTOMER, AND EXPECT SOME HEALTHY MEASURE OF COOPERATION FROM JEEP.*AK
I HAVE EXPERIENCED STEERING WHEEL SHAKING WHILE BRAKING ON THE HIGHWAY. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS DUE TO THE ROAD, BUT IT HAS BEEN RECURRENT. I WILL HAVE TO GET THE FRONT BRAKES REPAIRED.*AK
I HAVE A 2000 JEEP WITH RECURRING PROBLEMS WITH WHAT I AM TOLD ARE THE BRAKE ROTORS. THEY APPARENTLY KEEP WARPING, CAUSING MODERATE TO SEVERE SHIMMYING WHEN BRAKING AT HIGHER SPEEDS AND PULSATING WHEN BRAKING AT LOWER SPEEDS. AT 10,531 MILES I BROUGHT THE CAR IN. THEY RESURFACED THE ROTARS WHICH THEY CLAIM THE MANUFACTURER CLAIMED WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. THEN AT 26,579 MILES I WAS BACK AT THE DEALER. THEY TOLD ME THE MANUFACTURER HAD A DIFFERENT SOLUTION. THEY REPLACED THE ROTORS, BRAKES AND CALIPERS. I WAS SKEPTICAL THAT THEY WERE REPLACING A DEFECTIVE PART WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART. I TOLD THEM I HAD A 1995 GRAND CHEREKEE THAT HAD OVER 100 THOUSAND MILES AND NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM WITH ROTARS SO WHY DIDN'T THE MANUFACTURER JUST USE THE 1995 PART BUT, AGAIN, I WAS ASSURED THE NEW ROTARS WERE DIFFERENT AND DEFECT FREE. NOW I HAVE 49,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND IT IS AGAIN AT THE DEALER FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTERER SAY THEY WILL NOT MAKE ANY FURTHER REPAIRS.THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME I HAD THREE OPTIONS. ONE,THEY WOULD REPLACE THE ROTARS FOR $240.00. TWO,DO NOTHING BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER ASSURES ME THAT THE PROBLEM DOES NOT EFFECT SAFETY OR MAINTENANCE FOR ANY OTHER PARTS ON THE VEHICLE.(WHICH BY THE WAY I FIND TO BE A LUDICROUS STATEMENT AND A CALLOUS DISREGARD FOR THE SAFETY OF THEIR OWN CONSUMERS LET ALONE OTHERS ON THE ROAD SINCE THE CAR BECOMES VERY HARD TO CONTROL WHEN THE FRONT END IS SHAKING VIOLENTLY) AND THIRD, I COULD BUY THE PART FROM A NON-DEALER AT AFTER MARKET PRICES AND GET ROTARS MADE OF A DIFFERENT AND PRESUMABLY STRONGER MATERIAL. NONE OF THESE OPTIONS WERE APPEALING SINCE EXPERIENCE WITH TWO JEEPS PRIOR TO THIS ONE DICTATED THAT THIS WAS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MY DRIVING, AND WAS CLEARLY A DEFECTIVE PART. *AK
WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED THEY PULSATED, THIS CAUSED EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION. *JB
THE BRAKES ON MY VEHICLE HAVE TO BE CONSISTENTLY REPAIRED. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES AND THE JEEP ONLY HAS 45,000 MILES. I HAVE ANOTHER JEEP THAT HAS ALSO BEEN BROUGHT IN THREE TIMES AND IT HAS LESS THAN 25,000 MILES. ALL FOR BAD BRAKES WHICH I'M CONSISTENTLY TOLD , " IS A KNOWN DEFECT" BY CHRYSLER AND THE TECHNICAL STAFF.*AK
WHILE IDLING AT A STOP LIGHT VEHICLE STALLED. DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE OR RESOLVE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE BRAKING VEHICLE PULSATED. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK THIS FAILURE MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR THE DRIVER TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE WHILE STOPPING. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY DRIVE APPR. 8000 MILES PER YEAR YET THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED FOR THE LAST FOUR YEARS. THE VEHICLE'S WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. *NM
WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DEPRESSING THE BRAKES. VEHICLE JUMPED THE CURB AND COLLIDED WITH A TREE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES INVOLVED. *AK
DEFECTIVE BRAKES ON 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. SEVERE VIBRATION OF STEERING WHEEL AND VEHICLE WHEN BRAKING. OCCURRED AT 10,721 MILES, 36760 MILES, AND NOW AT 57,000 MILES. I HAVE HAD THE BRAKES FIXED ON MY 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 3 TIMES. THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AND VIBRATES UNCONTROLLABLY WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT ANY SPEED. IT IS HARD TO CONTROL THE CAR, ESPECIALLY ON THE INTERSTATE. I HAVE A REAL CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY AND MY PASSENGERS SAFETY. I WENT TO GET THEM FIXED FOR THE FOURTH TIME, WITH ONLY 20,000 MILES ON THE CAR, AND I WAS TOLD I HAD TO PAY FOR IT, SINCE MY WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED 3 MONTHS PRIOR. THIS PROBLEM REALLY SHOULD BE RECALLED. AND CHRYSLER IS NOT VERY NICE ABOUT ANY SITUATION LIKE THIS. THEY DON'T CARE HOW INCONVENIENCED YOU ARE. I HAD A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH ABOUT 35,000 MILES ON IT. IN THE COURSE OF MY OWNERSHIP (ABOUT 3 YEARS) I HAD THE BRAKES WORKED ON AT LEAST 3 TIMES. THE FIRST TIME THEY REPLACED THE ROTORS, THE SECOND TIME THEY REPLACED THE ROTORS AND THE CALIPERS. THE 3RD TIME (AFTER THE WARRANTY PERIOD) THEY REPLACED SOMETHING ELSE AND THEN HAD THE GALL TO CHARGE ME FOR IT.*AK FIXING BRAKES AT A RATE OF ABOUT EVERY 12,000 MILES IS ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED TO ACTUALLY CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IT IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT CAN CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.
DISC BRAKE ROTOR HEAT WARPS EVERY 15 THOUSAND TO 20 THOUSAND MILES UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE FRONT WHEELS WOBBLE SO SEVERLY THAT IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. JEEP DEALER SAYS THIS IS NORMAL WARE, BUT OTHER JEEPS THAT I HAVE OWNED DID NOT DO THIS. I HAVE HAD THE BRAKES EITHER REPAIRED OR REPLACED THREE TIMES IN UNDER 55 THOUSAND MILES OF USE.
WE EXPERIENCED EXTREME PULSING AND JERKING WHILE APPLYING OUR BRAKES. THIS PROBLEM MANIFESTED AT ABOUT 10,000 MILES. WE HAD THE PROBLEM REPAIRED (DEALER SAID THE ROTORS WERE WARPED). THIS PROBLEM IS NOW OCCURRING AGING AT 20,000 MILES. THE PULSING IS EXTREME AND WE ARE NOT CONFIDENT IN THE SAFETY OF OUR BRAKES. WE ARE NOW FORCED TO PAY AGAIN TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. JEEP ISSUED A TSB BUT NOT A RECALL - THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND DIRECTLY RELATES TO THE SAFETY OF THEIR VEHICLE. THEY SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEM FOR EVERYONE. A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT HAS BEEN FILED AS THIS PROBLEM IS SO PREVALENT YET JEEP REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. *JB
MY 2000 GRAND HAS HAD THE ROTORS REPLACED OR RESURFACED 3 TIMES UNDER WARRANTY AND TWICE AT MY EXPENSE. BRAKES MAKE IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP THE CAR AT SPEEDS OVER 55 MPH. UNSAFE TO DRIVE. DEALER CLAIMS THAT THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED FOR THE 2004 MODELS. WHY DID IT TAKE THEM 4 YEARS TO FIX THIS TYPE OF SAFETY PROBLEM?*AK
ONE OF THE STEEL BRACKETS CONNECTING THE DRIVER'S SEAT IN MY 2000 GRAND CHEROKEE BROKE AWAY FROM THE FLOOR, LEAVING THE SEAT (AND ME) TO SWAY SIDE TO SIDE AND BACK AND FORTH. I WEIGH 200 LBS. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. SO, NEITHER AN ACCIDENT OR EXCESSSIVE DRIVER'S WEIGHT CONTRIBUTED TO THIS PROBLEM. I WOULD GUESS THAT, IF I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT, THE SEAT WOULD PROBABLY BREAK FREE FROM THE FLOOR. THIS IS A HIGHLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT COULD BE LIFE THREATENING AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED.*AK
DOOR ACTUATOR FAILED. THEREBY CREATING POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD CONDITION. THE FREQUENCY OF DOOR ACTUATOR FAILURES LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THERE IS A DESIGN AND/OR MANUFACTURING DEFECT. WHEN THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED, THEIR RESPONSE WAS "THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY". I FIND THIS COMPLETLY UNACCEPTABLE.*AK

OIL HAS BEEN CHANGED REGULARLY. I CANNOT PROVE RECORD OF ALL OIL CHANGES, BUT IT HAS BEEN CHANGED AT REPUTABLE SERVICE CENTERS. ENGINE $5600. CHRYSLER DISTRICT UNWILLING TO ASSIST. I AM FRUSTRATED AT THEIR LACK OF COMMUNICATION, ATTITUDES, AND LACK OF QUALITY IN THIS VEHICLE. THEY TRY TO MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE A COMMON CRIMINAL AND ARE UNWILLING TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. WARPED BRAKE ROTORS. THREE SETS OF WARPED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS IN LESS THAN 36000 MILES. VEHICLE HAS SEVERE FRONT END MOVEMENT AND STEERING WHEEL SHAKE WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT SPEEDS GREATER THAN 50 MPH. IT IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE ON THE INTERSTATE BECAUSE OF THE ROTOR WARPAGE. JEEP WANTS OVER $400.00 DOLLARS TO INSTALL THE LATEST TSB TO CORRECT DEFECTIVE ROTORS BUT WILL ONLY GUARANTEE FOR 90 DAYS. IF EVER THERE WAS A NEED FOR A SAFETY RECALL, THIS IS IT. JEEP SHOULD INSTALL THEIR LATEST TSB (HOPEFULLY IT IS A TRUE FIX FOR THE DESIGN/DEFECTIVE ROTORS) AND BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE THAT IT HAS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM WITH THE GRAND CHEROKEE BRAKING SYSTEM. *JB
THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS. THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS WILL NOT ALLOW ENTRANCE FROM THE OUTSIDE. OWNER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND HAD THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR REPAIRED. CURRENTLY, THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR WAS DEFECTIVE. *AK

I WENT BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WITH DOCUMENTATIONS (HISTORY OF SAME REPAIRS) THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME TO GET IT REPAIRED. I TOLD THEM I WASN'T PAYING JACK I DIDN'T PAY ON THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPEN WHY NOW, ANYWHY I TOLD THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT I WANT IT IN WRITTING THAT THEY ARE NOT GOING TO HONOR THE TSB AS FAR AS NO CHARGE TO ME THE CLIENT. I FEEL WHY SHOULD I BE LIABIEL FOR THEIR DESIGN FLAW. *AK
AIR CONDITIONER FAN AND CONTROL BOX HAS BEEN REPAIRED AND REPLACE MULITPLE TIMES NOW AND AGAIN IS BROKE. THE BRAKES/ROTORS ARE BAD HANDLING AND THE FUEL ECONOMY DOES NOT GET WHAT EVEN THE COMPUTER STATED. *AK
DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT NOT WORKING. AFTER REPLACING TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY IT WAS NOTED THE BULB SOCKET CONTACT PINS WERE NOT MAKING FULL CONTACT THEREBY CREATING A SHORT CIRCUIT AND PREVENTING BRAKE LIGHT FROM COMING ON. INSTRUMENT PANEL BRAKE LIGHT INDICATOR WOULD ALSO COME ON AT TIMES.
WHILE DRIVING, THE THERMOSTAT INDICATOR BECAME ERRATIC AND FAILED TO REGISTER THE PROPER TEMPERATURE OF THE VEHICLE. IT OVERHEATED, AND WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THE THERMOSTAT BROKE AND THE ENGINE MUST BE REPLACED. *AK *JB

CURRENTLY, TWO DOORS (DRIVER'S SIDE AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER DOOR) MAKES A LOUD GRINDING SOUND EVERY TIME I AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK THE DOOR. OVER THE LAST MONTH, THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHERE I WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK EITHER ONE OF THESE DOORS AND HAD TO CRAWL INTO THE CAR OR OUT OF THE CAR FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE.
