VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT. WHEN DRIVING, I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO STEER TO THE LEFT SO THAT THE VEHICLE WILL GO STRAIGHT.
WHILE DRIVING, LOCKING MECHANHISM IS INOPERABLE. VEHICLE MAKES A BUZZING NOISE AND LOCKS BECOME INOPERABLE. CONSUMER FEELS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. CONSUMER HAS TAKEN VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES TO HAVE VEHICLE REPAIRED. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT YOU CAN NOT GET IN OR OUT *SLC
VEHICLE VIBRATES VIOLENTLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. AT LOW SPEEDS VEHICLE SHAKES ENOUGH TO BE ANNOYING. CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY SALES MANAGER PROBLEM WOULD FIX BY ITSELF. SERVICE MECHANIC URGED CONSUMER TO DRIVE IN A LOWER GEAR. CONSUMER HAS BEEN WAITHING 2 WEEKS TO SPEAK TO A FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE.*AK
VEHICLE WAS LEFT RUNNING AND IN PARK ON A VERY STEEP DRIVEWAY. AFTER GETTING COMPLETELY OUT OF CAR CONSUMER REACHED IN TO GRAB SOMETHING WHEN VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. WHILE TRYING TO GET INTO VEHICLE, IT WAS MOVING SO FAST CONSUMER SUFFERED TO NOSE, BRUISES ON SHOULDERS AND RIGHT LEG, INJURIES. UNTIL IT HIT A LARGE TREE AND AN OFFICER ARRIVED SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. *AK *ET
I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE ROTORS ON MY JEEP SERVICED TWICE. WHEN STOPPING, THEY SHOOK SO BADLY I COULD HARDLY CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST FAILURE WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I KNEW NOTHING OF THIS PROBLEM WITH JEEP AT THAT TIME. THE SECOND TIME, I HAD HEARD ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND ASKED THE DEALERSHIP IF I WOULD STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE SERVICE. THEY SAID YES, THAT THIS IS "NORMAL WEAR" FOR A VEHICLE THIS SIZE. ALMOST $300 EVERY YEAR?? WITH THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS, YOU THINK SOMETHING WOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I THINK CHRYSLER WOULD RATHER PAY A WRONGFUL DEATH SETTLEMENT THAN HAVE TO RECALL SO MANY DEFECTIVE VEHICLES OUT ON THE ROAD. I WILL BE LOOKING FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE SOON, AND IT SURE WON'T BE ONE FROM CHRYSLER.*AK
THE ROTORS AND PADS WERE DAMAGED FROM OVER HEATING. THIS SOUNDS LIKE A PROBLEM THAT A LOT OF OTHERS HAS HAD. I FEEL THIS IS A VERY BIG SAFETY PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO. I DO NOT FEEL BRAKES SHOULD FAIL IN THIS SHORT OF TIME. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.*AK
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES THE VEHICLE'S FRONT END SHIMMIED, THE PEDAL PULSATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK. *MR THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT DEALSER BUT NONE WERE ABLE TO PERMANENTLY REPAIR THE PROBLEM. *NM
BAD STEERING VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. HAVE ONLY 36,000 MILES AND HAVE REPAIRED THIS PROBLEM 4 TIMES NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE I BOUGHT JEEP NEW IN 2000. *MR

CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, THERE IS A SEVERE VIBRATION, THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT PADS AND ROTORS.*JB
I WAS TRAVELING AT 65 MPH WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES TO NEGOTIATE A CURVE. THE FRONT END OF THE JEEP BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP IN TIME. I WENT OFF OF THE ROAD MOMENTARILY AND I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. UPON MECHANICAL INSPECTION IT WAS FOUND THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED RE-SURFACING. THE ROTORS WERE RESURFACED AND THE PROBLEM WAS ELIMINATED. THE CERTIFIED JEEP MECHANIC WHO FIZED MY VEHICLE STATED THAT HE HAS NOTICED AN UNUSUALL AMOUNT OF JEEP VEHICLES THAT NEED THEIR ROTORS RE-SURFACED WHEN HAVING LOW MILEAGE. I SEE THAT AS A DEFECT SINCE I HAVE OWNED MANY NEW CARS AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAVE SEEN WHERE ROTORS HAVE TO BE RE-SSURFACED SO SOON. MY JEEP IS OWNED BY MY WIFE AND IT IS OUR FAMILY VEHICLE WHICH IS DRIVEN WITHIN IN NORMAL LIMITS. EVEN MY POLICE CAR THAT I DRIVE AT WORK (WHICH IS DRIVEN HARD) DOES NOT NEED IT'S ROTORS RE-SURFACED YET. I HAVE ALSO RE-SEARCHED AND FOUND THAT OTHER JEEP OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH ROTORS. I HOPE THAT YOU WILL LOOK INTO THIS MATTER. IN ALL MY DRIVING, I HAD NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH A TENSE MOMENT WHEN I TRIED TO BRAKE TO NEGOTITATE THAT CURVE. I WAS DOIND 65 MPH, HOWEVER I HAD BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN FOR THE CURVE AND I COULD NOT DUE TO, IN MY OPINION, DEFECTIVE ROTORS. THANK YOU.*AK

CAR WITH ABOUT 10K MILES HAS BRAKING PROBLEM. AT OVER 50 MPH, STEERING SHIMMIES AND SHAKES. DIFFICULT TO BRAKE. DEALER SAYS ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. ROTORS ARE NOT AVAILABLE, ON BACKORDER. WHEN SHIFTING GEARS THE TRANSMISSION MAKES A LOT OF NOISE. HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN TWICE, WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD ANOTHER JEEP ON THE RACK WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WAS WAITING FOR THE MANUFACTURE RTO TELL THEM WHAT TO DO NEXT. AFTER REPEATED CALLS TO FIND OUT THE STATUS OF THE OTHER JEEP, WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD REPLACE THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION ON THAT JEEP AND DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. SO AFTER MANY CALLS AM TOLD THAT CHRYSLER IS WORKING ON THE PROBLEM. ALSO, THE JEEP BACKS OFF A LOT WHEN AT 70 MILES PER HOUR. WROTE THE MANUFACTURE, BUT HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM. *AK
THE SHIFTER BUTTON WILL NOT RELEASE, WHICH INDICATES THE VEHCILE IS IN PARK. THE AUTOMOBILE WAS NEVER LEFT RUNNING, BUT THE OPERATOR COULD NOT REMOVE THE KEY AS THE MECHANISMS INDICATED THAT THE CAR WAS NOT IN PARK. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEED AND STARTING TO BRAKE VEHICLE WOULD LURCH FORWARD. HAD NOT HIT ANYTHING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. HAVE BEEN TO DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 3 TIMES. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. VEHICLE WAS TEST DRIVEN. MECHANIC INDICATED NO PROBLEMS.*AK *SLC
BRAKE ROTORS BECOME SEVERLY WARPED TO THE POINT OF MAJOR SHUTTERING WHEN VEHICLE BRAKES. REPLACED ROTORS AT ABOUT 20,000 MILES. ROTORS ARE WARPED AGAIN AND NEED REPLACEMENT AT 43,000 MILES. *AK
ON TWO OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE HAD PLACED ITSELF IN NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING AND EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION. ALSO THE SERVICE DEALER ADDED A CO-PILOT TO THE VEHICLE. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CO-PILOT WAS INSTALLED, THE CONSUMER PARKED THE VEHICLE ON A FLAT SURFACE WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE UP, WHILE STILL RUNNING, AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS. SCC 8JB
WHILE STOPPING AT LIGHT VEHICLE JUMPED FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE AND BRAKES LOCKED. CONTACED DEALER, AND DEALER STATED NOTHING TO BE DONE. *AK
THERE WAS PULSATION WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AT HIGH AND LOW SPEEDS. DEALER REPLACED FRONT PADS AND MATCHED MOUNTED ROTORS. *AK *TT
ROTORS HAD TO BE REWORKED AT 10,000 MILES AN AND NOW MUST BE DONE AGAIN AT 15,000. DEALER SAID WILL ONLY COVER WHEN UNDER 12,000, KNOWN PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER FAILS TO ACKNOWLEDGE. WILL COST ME $350.00 EVERY 5-8,000 MILES? COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE, STEERING WHEEL PULSATES A LOT WHEN THE ROTORS FINALLY GET REAL BAD. CHRYSLER SHOULD FIND AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. $30,000 VEHICLE AND WILL NEED ROTORS EVERY 5-8,000 MILES? ? ?*AK
VEHICLE WAS IDLING, CONSUMER GOT INTO VEHICLE TO RELEASE PARKING BRAKE, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN VEHICLE LURCHED BACKWARDS AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED, RESULTING IN AN INJURY AND VEHICLE CRASHING INTO A HOUSE.(ON BEHALF OF SISTER-IN-LAW)*JB

6 MONTHS AGO, NOTICED TRANSMISSION LEAK. TOOK IT TWICE FOR REPAIR. AFTER 2 REPAIRS THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL LEAKING WHICH 2 WEEKS AGO LED ME TO CALL BOTH THE DEALER & MANUFACTURER. ON 09/13, THE DEALER TOOK THE CAR BACK FOR REPAIR BUT INFORMED ME THAT HE WILL NOT REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE HE SEES NO LEAK. ON 09/16, I NOTICE AGAIN THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS LEAKING AND THEREFORE I AM FILLING A COMPLAINT.*AK
THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE BRAKE PADS/ROTORS. THE FRONT BRAKE PADS/ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWO TIMES, MILEAGE 11,467 AND 18,466. THE SECOND REPLACEMENT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT PUT ON A NEW UPDATED PAD THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. NOT QUITE. PRESENTLY THE CAR IS IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT GETTING ALL 4 ROTORS GRINDED DOWN. I AM CURRENTLY FIGHTING FOR WARRANTY COVERAGE. I HAVE BEEN THROUGH THE ARBITRATION PROCESS; I WAS TOLD IT HADN'T BEEN SERVICED ENOUGH TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. DAIMLERCHRYSLER IS WELL AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, WHERE'S THE RECALL FOR THIS MAJOR SAFETY DEFECT???*AK

THERE IS RAPID VIBRATION IN FRONT CAB PART OF VEHICLE WHEN APPLYING BRAKES AT OVER 40 MPH. CONTACTED DEALER. *AK
VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO REVERSE FROM PARK, CAUSING IT TO HIT A PIER AND ROLL INTO A LAKE.
A FOWL ODOR WAS SEEPING INTO VEHICLE FROM AIR CONDITIONER (A/C). PLASTIC WITHIN UNIT HAS MELTED DOWN AND CORRODED FROM USING HEAT IN WINTER TIME. MOISTURE INSIDE THE UNIT HAS CAUSED MILDEW AND DEALER HAS SPRAYED A ANTI- FUNGUS BACTERIA ON THE COILS, KILLING THE BACTERIA, AND REFRESHING VEHICLE. ODOR AND FUNGUS STILL THERE. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER IN JUNE TO FIND OUT THAT ENTIRE A/C UNIT HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR A COST OF $ 89.00 AT CONSUMER'S COST. CONSUMER DOES A LOT OF TRAVELING, AND NEEDS THE VEHICLE FOR TRASNSPORTATION. CONSUMER PLEASE ADD VIN# AND MILEAGE TO THIS FORM.*AK
UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE SHAKES EXCESSIVELY, INCLUDING THE STEERING WHEEL. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER MECHANIC'S REPORT, THE PROBLEM IS ATTRIBUTED TO WARPED ROTORS. NUMEROUS OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME VEHICLE I ENCOUNTERED HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AT MILEAGE BELOW 10,000 MILES. THE PROBLEM IS NOT ATTRIBUTED TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR OR DRIVING HABITS AS EXPRESSED BY THE DEALER, BUT RATHER TO DEFECTIVE MANUFACTURED INSTALLED ROTORS. I WAS INFORMED THAT EARLIER VERSIONS ( 1998, 1999) OF THIS VEHICLE WERE RECALLED FOR DEFECTIVE ROTORS. I AM CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY ISSUES INVOLVED DUE TO THE OPERATOR'S INABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES.*AK
WHILE DEPRESSING BRAKES NOTICED A HARD VIBRATION IN FRONT OF VEHICLE. TECHNICIAN STATED MANUFACTURER HAD WRONG BRAKES PADS ON. *AK CONSUMER STATES THE BRAKE PADS WERE NOT DISAPATING THE HEAT AND WHILE THE DEALER REPRESENTATIVE STATED THERE WAS 50 PERCENT OF THE PADS LEFT, THE HEAT HAD WARPED THE FRONT DISCS. *SLC
TIRE FAILED AT SIDEWALL FOR UNKNOWN REASON. NO ROAD HAZARD DAMAGE FOUND. NO TREAD DAMAGE FOUND. TIRE JACK FAILED TWICE, RESULTING IN NEAR-INJURY TO STATE TROOPER ASSISTING US. TIRE JACK IS INSUFFICIENT FOR WEIGHT, HEIGHT OF JEEP GR. CHEROKEE. I HAD SAME TIRE JACK FAILURE ON MY 1997 JEEP GR. WHEN THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES THEY PULSATED, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK CONSUMER WOULDN'T LET HER 15 YR. OLD DAUGHTER DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN FEAR OF THE BRAKES FAILING, NOR WOULD SHE SELL IT. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO THE MECHANIC MANY TIMES AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO EXIST. *PH. THE ROTORS AND PADS WERE REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WAS HARD TO LOCK, AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WORKED INTERMITTENTLY. *JB
IF I WAS TRAVELING AT A CERTAIN SPEED AND I APPLIED MY BRAKES, MY STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO VIBRATE. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT. MY JEEP WAS LESS THAN SIX MONTHS OLD AND THERE COULDN'T BE ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT....YET. I BLEMED THE ROAD CONDITIONS AND DIDN'T THINK MUCH ABOUT IT. THE VIBRATIONS GOT WORSE BUT THE ROADS WHERE THE SAME. I TOOK IT IN THE DIRECT AUTO PLAZA, IN EL CENTRO CA. AND THEY SAID IT WAS MY ROTORS, THEY WERE WARPED. THEY SAID THAT IT WAS "NORMAL" WEAR AND TEAR AND THAT WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER THE FIXING OF THE ROTORA. THEY WHERE GOING TO CHARGE ME 350.00. I AM FRUSTRATED BECAUSE IF THIS IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR I DON'T KNOW IF I COULD AFFORD TO BE PUTTING 350.00 ADDITIONAL MONEY IN TO "NEW" VEHICLE EVERY 12-15 THOUSAND MILE. I FEEL THAT THE ROTORS ARE DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY.*AK
THIS JEEP HAS NUMEROUS PROBLEMS AND HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE 4 TIME AND THEY HAVE FAILED TO REPAIR EVEN 1 OF OUR COMPLAINTS. ALL COMPLAINTS OTHER THAN THE PULL TO THE RIGHT HAVE BEEN DISMISSED WITH THE EXPLANATION OF CAN NOT DUPLICATE. THEY HAVE TRIED TO REPAIR THE PULL TO THE RIGHT BUT IT ONLY GOT WORSE. WE WERE TOLD BY A REPAIR TECH. THAT IT NEEDED A NEW PART TO CORRECT THE PULLING TO THE RIGHT BUT CHRYSLER HAS FAILED TO INSTALL THIS NEEDED PART. WE HAVE REQUESTED A REPURCHASE OF THE JEEP UNDER THE LEMON LAW BUT CHRYSLER DENIED OUR REQUEST STATING THAT THE PULL TO THE RIGHT IS DUE TO "ROAD CROWN" AND IF YOU HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL WITH A STRONG TO MEDIUM GRIP YOU DON'T NOTICE THE PULL TO THE RIGHT! WE HAVE THIS IN WRITING FROM THE ARBITRATOR THAT CHRYSLER HIRED. THE DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER ATTEMPTED TO CONCEAL SOME SERVICE REPAIR FORMS THAT HAD THE LOOSE REAR HATCH PROBLEM AND THE PULL TO THE RIGHT. CHRYSLER STATED IN LETTERS TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL THAT WE HAD NEVER BROUGHT THE REAR HATCH ALARM TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALERSHIP WHICH WAS DISPROVED AT ARBITRATION BUT WE STILL NEVER RECEIVED A COPY OF THE REPAIR SHEET EVEN THOUGH THE DEALERSHIP HAS IT AND PROVIDED A COPY TO THE ARBITRATOR. WE HAVE PARKED THIS JEEP DUE TO THE INCREASING SEVERITY OF PROBLEMS. WE THINK THIS JEEP IS DANGEROUS DUE TO IT'S NUMEROUS DEFECTS. WE REFUSE TO LET ANYONE RIDE IN THE BACK FOR MONTHS DUE TO THE REAR HATCH (WHICH THE DISTRICT MANAGER FOR CHRYSLER FOUND WAS LOOSE AT THE ARBITRATION HEARING BY PUSHING ON THE BUMPER AND HATCH. *AK

THEN AGAIN AT ABOUT 28000, POSSIBLY SOONER. DEALER REPLACED FIRST SET OF ROTORS NO CHARGE. MY FATHER DRIVES THE IDENTICAL VEHICLE AND HE IS EXPERIENCING THE IDENTICAL CONDITION, ALTHOUGH HE HAS NOT HAD TO REPLACE THE ROTORS LIKE I HAVE. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE ROTORS PRIOR TO 70000 MILES OR SO ON PREVIOUS CARS.*AK
