TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DEFROST FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED HIM THAT THE HEAT BLENDER DOORS WERE BROKEN AND WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY NOR WERE THERE ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
WE HAVE A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM FLORIDA IN SEPTEMBER OF 2010. WE HAD IT HERE IN NY FOR 2 DAYS BEFORE THE PROBLEMS STARTED. WE LOST ALL OF OUR GAUGES, ALL OF OUR WARNING LIGHTS COME ON, POWER WINDOWS DONT WORK, POWER MIRRORS DONT WORK, COMMAND CENTER GOES DOWN, DOOR LOCKS WORK INTERMITTENTLY. CHRYSLER JEEP IS VERY UNHELPFUL. WE HAVE PUT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS INTO THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE SEEN ONLINE THAT A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM IN THE YEARS 99-2005. IT IS GIVING US A P1686 CODE AND NO ONE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. *TR
HEATER BLEND DOORS BROKE NO HEAT ON DRIVERS SIDE, POWER WIRES FRAYED AND PLUG STARTING TO MELT FOR HEATER POWER
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING FAILED WHICH CAUSED THE CRUISE CONTROL, RADIO AND HORN TO FAIL AS WELL. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 80,000.

THE BRACKET OF MY SEAT FRAME THAT HOLD ON MY SEAT OF MY GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO 2000 BROKE, ALL THREE OF THEM ARE BROKEN, I FELT SOMETHING OFF WITH THE SEAT BUT NEVER SAW ANYTHING, AND TODAY THE SEAT GOT OUT OF PLACE COMPLETELY ALMOST CAUSING ME TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT, I CHECK ON THE INTERNET AND THERE'S A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. THE TABS THAT HOLD MY DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT TO THE TRACK ASSEMBLY ON MY 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO HAVE COMPLETELY BROKEN. THE DEALERSHIP QUOTED $500+ TO FIX THEIR FAULTY PRODUCT. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE MERGING ONTO I-75 NEAR ATLANTA AND I WOUND UP LAYING IN MY BACK SEAT. I KNOW THAT I AM NOT ALONE IN THIS ISSUE AS I HAVE CHECKED SEVERAL FORUMS AND JUNK-YARDS ALL OF WHOM REPORT THE IT AS A COMMON OCCURRENCE. CHRYSLER'S CHOSEN VIEWPOINT OF NOT FIXING A SEVERE SAFETY CONCERN IS UNACCEPTABLE. *TR

THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT SEAT HAS A RAIL ON THE TOP LEFT SIDE WHERE THE BOLT WILL BREAK THROUGH THE RAIL CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, INJURE THEMSELVES AND OTHERS IN AND OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE ONLY EXPERIENCED THE SQUEAKY SOUNDS THAT HAPPEN JUST BEFORE THE BREAK. I DID A SEARCH FOR COMPLAINTS ON SEVERAL WEBSITES AND FOUND AT LEAST 1500 COMPLAINTS ON THE THIS SUBJECT, PER WEBSITE. WHY ARE WE WAITING FOR A DEATH OR INJURY FOR THE DEALER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM?? THIS PROBLEM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO DO SO!! FROM THE INVESTIGATING I HAVE DONE NO ONE COULD HAVE CAUSED THE PROBLEM BUT THE MANUFACTURER ITSELF. THE SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM IS TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE RAIL. I WILL NOT DO THIS AT MY OWN COST. 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LTD. IS RIDDLED WITH SAFETY PROBLEMS. CHIEF AMONG THEM IS THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT FRAME. BOTTOM PART OF THE SEAT FRAME HAS BUSTED IN SEVERAL PLACES. THIS IS A SERIOUS MATTER AND DAIMLER/CHRYSLER SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. NEW SEATS ARE NOT EASY TO FIND AND IF YOU CAN FIND ONE THE PRICE IS ASTRONOMICALLY OUTRAGEOUS. *TR
2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE: WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN, THE LEFT FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT RAIL DETACHED FROM THE FLOOR RAIL. THE STEEL WAS WEAK AND THE BOLT HOLDING IT DOWN APPEARS TO HAVE "RIPPED" RIGHT THROUGH THE STEEL RAIL. NOW THE FRONT LEFT CORNER OF THE SEAT MOVES UP AND DOWN ABOUT SIX INCHES. THIS IS, HOPEFULLY, A ONE-TIME FAILURE, BUT VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVEN'T FOUND A REPLACEMENT YET. THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
I HAVE A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND HAVE HAD IT NOW SINCE 2004 IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM AFTER ANOTHER THE TAIL LIGHTS GO OFF THE CIRCUIT BOARD STOPS WORKING AND THE MONEY ISSUE IS RIDICULOUS TO KEEP REPLACING THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN EXPENSIVE AND FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN ON THE INTERNET ON CAR SURVEY.COM I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT CAN ONLY GET WORSE IF IT WERE TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND MAYBE LOOSE A LIFE TO A PART THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED THERE IS CURRENTLY 290 COMPLAINTS AND YET I AM JUST ONE MORE TO ADD TO THE LIST AND WELL HOPEFULLY WITH THIS COMPLAINT THERE CAN BE SOMETHING DONE! A FEW MONTHS AGO I NOTICED THE DRIVERS SEAT OF MY 2000 GRAND CHEROKEE BEGAN TO MAKE POPPING NOISES WHEN I WOULD TURN CORNERS OR ACCELERATE. JUST THE OTHER DAY WHEN I ACCELERATED FROM A STOP, THERE WAS A LOUD POP AND MY DRIVERS SEAT TURNED INTO A ROCKING CHAIR. IT TIPPED ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE BACK SEAT NEARLY CAUSING ME TO LOOSE CONTROL AND CRASH INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I TOOK MY JEEP INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY QUOTED ME A PRICE OF MORE THAN A THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPLACE THE SEAT BRACKET. I THEN DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF OTHERS THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY PROBLEM AND WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL? DOES IT TAKE PEOPLE BEING KILLED TO GET SOMETHING DONE? I CAN NOT AFFORD TO PUT OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS INTO MY JEEP AT THIS TIME AND OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SEATS WELDED BUT THE WELDS DO NOT HOLD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO OVERHEAT AND SHAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE CONTATC WAS INFORMED THAT THE ELECTRIC COOLING FAN MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V199000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:FAN) THAT MAY BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
DRIVER'S SEAT BECAME LOOSE AND WOBBLY, EVENTUALLY "CLICKING" WHILE DRIVING, AND THEN OBVIOUSLY BROKE AND I WAS RECLINED BACK AND TO THE RIGHT. SEAT REMOVAL FOUND THAT DRIVER'S SEAT FRAME HAD CRACKED AND FAILED. PROFESSIONAL WELDER REPAIRED SEAT FRAME AND STRENGTHENED FRAME WITH ADDITIONAL MATERIAL. THREE YEARS LATER, SEAT FRAME IS FAILING AGAIN. I AM NOT OVERWEIGHT OR OBESE - THIS SEAT FRAME IS DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY IF IT BREAKS WHILE DRIVING. A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET INDICATES A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THESE SEAT FRAMES, INCLUDING A REPAIR KIT WEBSITE SINCE CHRYSLER IS NOT TAKING CARE OF THIS ISSUE. IT IS MY OPINION THAT UNDER REGULAR DUTY, A SEAT FRAME SHOULD LAST THE LIFETIME OF THE VEHICLE. *TR

I REPLACED IT AND ABOUT TWO MONTHS LATER THE METAL SEAT FRAME ON THE SAME SIDE BROKE AND I'M IN THE PROCESS OF LOOKING FOR REPLACEMENT. APPARENTLY FROM WHAT I'VE GATHERED ONLINE THROUGH NUMEROUS WEBSITE, THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP. POOR QUALITY...VERY UNSAFE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS INTERMITTENTLY. AFTER THE VEHICLE STALLED IT MAY OR MAY NOT RESTART IMMEDIATELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THE TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
DRIVER SIDE SEAT BROKE ON 2000 JEEP LAREDO. AFTER READING THE MANY COMPLAINTS FOR SAME PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND THE MECHANIC REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER. HE THEN CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE DRIVER SEAT WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED TO REPORT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
I OWN A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE I WAS TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY A FEW DAYS A GO WHEN MY TRUCK DECREASED IN SPEED SOMEWHAT. I PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY TO STOP AT A GAS STATION. ONCE STOPPED AT THE LIGHT A THICK PLUM OF SMOKE APPEARED IN THE AFT PORTION OF THE SUV. I PULLED INTO THE GAS STATION WITH SCREAMS OF YOUR TRUCK IS ON FIRE GET OUT. I QUICKLY PLACED THE TRUCK IN PARK JUMPED OUT AND THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO ROLL OUT OF THE GAS STATION ONTO THE STREET HITTING SOME LOCAL CONSTRUCTION WORKERS NEARBY EQUIPMENT. THE REAR AXLE CASE WAS ON FIRE. I GRABBED A C02 TANK FROM THE GAS STATION IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP THE FIRE. THE DETROIT FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO COME TO COMPLETELY EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. *TR
I HAVE A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. AFTER I HIT 100K MILES MY AIRBAG LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY CHIMES. THERE SEEMS TO BE A GREAT DEAL OF JEEP USERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE CLOCK SPRING SENSOR. WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T REPLACE OR SEEK REPAIR FOR THIS? IS THERE SOMETHING THAT GM CAN DO TO RECALL THE PART? I AM OUT OF WARRANTY BUT THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH MORE THAN JUST MY VEHICLE. *TR

THE DEALER ADVISED THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HAVING THE DEALER MAKE REPAIRS AT THE CONTACTS EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 119,000.
2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS OUT BECAUSE OF DEFECTIVE DESIGN. BRAKE LIGHTS STOP WORKING WHEN HEADLIGHTS TURNED ON. BRAKE LIGHTS WORK FINE WHEN HEADLIGHTS OFF. PROBLEM DESIGN IS IN THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY. WHEN YOU REMOVE THE LIGHT SOCKET FOR THE TAIL/BRAKE LIGHT IN THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY, YOU WILL SEE 3 SILVER CONTACT POINTS INSIDE THE BLACK PLASTIC RING. TWO ARE GROUPED TOGETHER AND THERE IS ONE THAT IS OPPOSITE OF THE TWO. THE ONE BY ITSELF IS THE GROUND; THE OTHER TWO ARE THE CONTACTS FOR THE TAIL LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT. THE PROBLEM LIES WITH THE GROUND CONNECTOR. YOU SHOULD NOTICE THAT THE GROUND CONTACT IS DEPRESSED INTO THE PLASTIC AND THE PLASTIC ITSELF IS SLIGHTLY WARPED DOWN. MOST CARS HAVE LIGHT SOCKETS WITH THEIR WIRING ATTACHED. THE SOCKET TWISTS INTO THE LAMP ASSEMBLY. ON THE GRAND CHEROKEE, THE SOCKET DOES NOT HAVE THE WIRING ATTACHED. INSTEAD, THE WIRING GOES INTO THE LAMP ASSEMBLY AND THE SOCKET HAS THREE ELECTRICAL CONTACTS THAT, WHEN TWISTED INTO THE ASSEMBLY, WILL MAKE THE CONTACT. WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE MOST FREQUENT MALFUNCTION IS THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONTACTS (WHICH MAKE CONTACT WITH THEIR RESPECTIVE ELECTRICAL PATHS WHEN THEY ARE INSERTED INTO THE ASSEMBLY) ARE PRESSED TIGHT TO ENSURE GOOD CONTACT WITH THE ASSEMBLY...AND ON MANY TAILLIGHTS, THE PLASTIC RING CONTAINING THE RESPECTIVE PATHS OFTEN BEGINS TO SEPARATE FROM THE FATIGUE OF THE CONTACTS PRESSING SO HARD. OF THE THREE CONTACTS (REAR TAIL LIGHT, REAR BRAKE LIGHT AND GROUND), THE GROUND IS WHAT MOST COMMONLY LOSES ITS CONTACT DUE TO FATIGUE CRACKING. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE OFTEN DRIVERS ARE UNAWARE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE HEADLAMPS ARE ON, SO IF CHECKED IN DAYLIGHT, THE PROBLEM OFTEN GOES UNDETECTED. ONLY WHEN ANOTHER DRIVER OR THE POLICE POINT IT OUT DOES IT LOOKED AT. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM THAT OCCURS FOR NEARLY EVERY 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. IT IS NOT AN ISSUE OF WILL IT HAPPEN, RATHER WHEN IS IT GOING TO HAPPEN! *TR
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE, SOME TIMES TAIL LIGHTS, SOME TIMES BRAKE LIGHTS , SOMETIMES ALL REAR LIGHTS GO AND STAY OUT. HOOD AND TAIL GATE DO NOT STAY UP, RADIO AND SEAT POSITION DO NOT ALWAYS WORK. NOW REAR BLINKERS DO NOT WORK. CAN NOT DRIVE AT NIGHT DUE TO THIS.

THE CONTACT MOVED THE VEHICLE FROM THE ROADWAY AND FOUND THAT THE FAN BLADE, RADIATOR AND OTHER UNDER HOOD COMPONENTS WERE BROKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER IN WHICH THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FAN BLADE, RADIATOR, HOSES AND CONNECTORS. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO LOCATE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V199000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING: COOLING SYSTEM: FAN) AND WHEN CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER, HE WAS TOLD HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 141,000.
JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO 2000 105,000 MILES GOT PULLED OVER TONIGHT FOR NOT HAVING BRAKE LIGHTS WHEN THE BRAKE IS PRESSED. WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD BE AT FAULT IF SOMEONE WOULD REAR END ME. SEARCHED ONLINE, THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE ON THE MAKE/MODE OF MY JEEP. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. I HAVE HAD MY BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLIES CHANGED, I HAVE CHANGED NUMEROUS BRAKE LIGHTS. ACCORDING TO A FEW SITES I READ, THE FIX IS BECAUSE THE GROUND CONNECTOR ON THE BRAKE LIGHT HOUSING IS CHEAPLY MADE AND DOESN'T CONTACT WITH THE LIGHTS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THERE SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE - EVEN AFTER 10 YEARS. WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS ONLINE, I'M REALLY SHOCKED THAT THERE ISN'T A RECALL FROM JEEP ABOUT THIS VERY ISSUE. *TR

IN ADDITION TO ANOTHER DOOR ACTUATOR HAVING TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. ACCORDING TO THE INTERNET FORUMS FOR JEEPS, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THERE ARE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE ON THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL OF JEEP. *TR
WHILE BRAKING TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE THE MOUNTING BRACKETS ON MY DRIVER SEAT BROKE, SENDING ME FORWARD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. ALL 1999-2002 GRAND CHEROKEE WJ MODELS BUILT THROUGH MAY 10, 2002 CAME EQUIPPED WITH BRAKE CALIPERS MADE BY TEVES. THEY ARE BLACK IN COLOR WITH AN OPEN-SIDED BRACKET DESIGN. DUE TO POOR CALIPER CENTERING, THE TEVES CALIPERS CAUSED THE ROTORS TO WARP, A PROBLEM THAT HAS PLAGUED GRAND CHEROKEES. AT THE VERY END OF THE 2002 MODEL YEAR, JEEP CHANGED TO "FULLY-CLOSED" STYLE CALIPERS DESIGNED BY AKEBONO. TO ADDRESS THE WARPED ROTOR PROBLEM JEEP ISSUED A TSB, #05-003-02. WE BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE A FULL RECALL DO TO THE MAJOR WHEEL SHAKE TO THE POINT OF THE DRIVER ALMOST LOOSING CONTROL OF THE SUV DO TO THIS VIBRATION. JEEP HAS LONG KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE & WAS SUED IN A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT WHICH THEY SETTLED THE PROBLEM IS EXCESSIVE ROTOR THICKNESS VARIATION GENERATED BY POOR CALIPER CENTERING. THIS CAUSES STEERING WHEEL SHAKE. GRAND CHEROKEE BRAKES UP THROUGH MAY 10TH 2002 WERE DESIGNED BY TEVES. SAME BRAKES USED ON BMW & FORD EXPEDITION BUT THE GRAND CHEROKEE WAS THE FIRST TO USE A TWIN PISTON CALIPER DESIGN. CHRYSLER WANTED TWIN PISTONS BECAUSE OF THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CALIPER SPRING CAUSES THE INBOARD PAD TO DRAG. IT TAKES A LOT OF HEAT (CHERRY RED) TO WARP ROTORS, SO THE MAIN CAUSE OF ROTOR VARIATION IS NOT HEAT BUT UNEVEN WEAR. *TR
THIS VEHICLE DID MUCH LIKE THE PREVIOUS OWNER'S COMPLAINT'S WITH THE DRIVER'S SEAT. I HAD PULLED IN TO A PARKING SPACE AND THE SEAT JUST COLLAPSED. 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE - HEATER CORE LEAKAGE LED US TO TAKE UP CARPET - BOTH DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE HOLES IN THE FRAME WHICH HOLD THE SEATS DOWN TO THE BODY, WERE RUSTED THROUGH. CAUSE - WATER TRAP (DESIGN FLAW) IN DESIGN OF THE UNIBODY, AND NO UNDERCOATING TO HELP PREVENT SUCH OCCURRENCE. FRAME METAL IS APPROX. 1/8TH INCH THICK. AREAS AFFECTED WERE CUT OUT AND NEW METAL WELDED IN (BY PRIVATE PARTY - NOT DEALER. I DO HAVE THE PIECES WHICH WERE CUT OUT.) SHOULD THERE HAVE BEEN A COLLISION, THE SEATS WOULD HAVE BROKEN LOOSE FROM THE FRAME AND SERIOUS INJURIES WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE BROKEN DRIVERS SEAT. FRAME FOR SEAT HAS FAILED IN THREE PLACES. I AM 5'10" AT 180 LBS AND OF AVERAGE BUILD. I AM THE SECOND OWNER AND HAVE OWNED THE JEEP SINCE 2004. I HAVE TAKEN GOOD CARE OF THIS JEEP AND PROVIDED REGULAR MAINTENANCE SINCE I PURCHASED IT. THE SEAT FRAME CONNECTING TO THE FLOOR FAILED CAUSING THE SEAT TO BECOME UNSTABLE. I REPAIRED THE BRACKET WITH WELDING. A SECOND FAILURE OCCURRED BETWEEN THE FRAME WELD TO THE UPRIGHT SEAT SUPPORT CAUSING THE SEAT TO RECLINE UNCONTROLLABLY. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED DURING OPERATION AND NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. *TR
