THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE WELDING OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 143,665.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE SKID PLATE THAT HELD THE TANK IN PLACE WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 153,000.

THE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO BE PULLED INTO THE LEFT LANE WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE CORROSION OF THE FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. NUMBER 04V112000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:STARTER ASSEMBLY) BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND WAS OUTSIDE OF THE RECALLED YEAR MODELS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.

WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO LOCK OR UNLOCK THE VEHICLE WITH THE KEYLESS REMOTE, THE LOCKS WOULD MAKE A LOUD BANGING SOUND. THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURRED WHEN SHE USED THE KEYLESS REMOTE. I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO AND HAVING DONE HOURS OF RESEARCH I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS MANY OTHER JEEP OWNERS. MY ALARM IS FAULTY AND OFTEN DOES NOT START, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE VEHICLE IN OVER A WEEK. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING JEEP TOLD ME TO DO TO OVERRIDE ALARM, IT DOES NOT WORK. I ALSO HAVE A "QUACK" IN MY DOOR LOCKS. I SUSPECT I WILL NEED A NEW ACTUATOR. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THEIR IS NOT A RECALL ON ANY OF THESE THINGS, I HAVE READ LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS IN THESE CARS AND IT COSTS ALOT OF TIME, MONEY AND FRUSTRATION TO FIX. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER JEEP NOR WILL I EVER RECOMMEND A JEEP. *TR
DRIVER SEAT BROKEN RAIL. SEAT STARTED SQEAKING THEN FELL APART COMPLETELY. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BRACKETS THAT HOLD THE SEAT IN PLACE HAVE GIVEN WAY. THE SEAT NOW ROCKS SIDE TO SIDE & FRONT TO BACK. IT NEEDS SOME SERIOUS REPAIR. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAPPEN DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, BUT IT DID. I HOPE NOTHING WORSE HAPPENS TO THE SEAT AS I TRY TO FIND SOME WAY TO REPAIR IT. ALMOST 3,000 PEOPLE ON ONE WEBSITE ALONE HAVE REPORTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BRACKETS ON JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES. WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THE DRIVERS FRONT SEAT BEGAN TO ROCK. WHEN I GOT HOME I CHECKED THE SEAT AND FOUND THAT THE METAL FRAME HAD CRACKED IN THREE PLACES. I DID SOME TEMPORARY REPAIRS WHICH DID NOT LAST VERY LONG. I THEN DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT MANY OTHER JEEP OWNERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM IS A SAFETY HAZARD, AND IS A DANGEROUS. ANY HELP YOU COULD GIVE ME WITH THIS PROBLEM WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I FEEL THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD DO A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR

THERE WAS ANOTHER PERSON ON THE SCENE WHO WAS BURNED ON HIS CHEST AREA AND WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. THE DEALER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 168,000.

DRIVER'S SEAT MOUNTING BRACKET BROKE ON FRONT LEFT SIDE CAUSING SEAT TO WOBBLE.
I HAVE BEEN GETTING THE RUN AROUND FORM CUSTOMER SERVICE AT CHRYSLER. I HAVE A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE,AND WAS PLANNING ON BUYING ANOTHER. BUT>>> COMMENTS: --------- MY 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH A 4L ENGINE STALLS WHEN TURNING LEFT IF THE FUEL LEVEL IN THE TANK IS BELOW 1/4. THE VIN NUMBER IS; [XXX] THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, AND COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF I AM NOT ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. LAST WEEK I HAD THE LOCAL DEALER CHECK THE VEHICLE. THEY SAID IF IT WERE THE SENSING UNIT IN THE GAS TANK, IT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL. THEY SAID IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP ITSELF, NOT THE SENSOR, AND THEREFORE, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY AROUND $1000.00 TO HAVE THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE PUMP, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE PICKUP DEVICE WHENTHE TANK LEVEL DROPS BELOW 1/4, AND THIS HAPPENS OVER A PERIOD OF TIME. I HAVE CHECKED SEVERAL WEB SITES AND FOUND QUITE A NUMBER OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME SITUATION. I CALLED CHRYSLER TODAY AT 1-800-992-1997 AND WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO SPEAK WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-853-1403. WHEN I CALLED THIS NUMBER I SPOKE TO A REPRESENTATIVE AND I EXPLAINED WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND I WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE WAS TOO OLD FOR THEM TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I ASKED TO SPEAK TO HIS SUPERIOR, AND WAS DENIED A NAME. WHEN I ASKED FOR A NAME, SHE ASKED "IS ANYTHING ELSE I CAN HELP YOU WITH AND TOLD ME THANKS FOR CALLING. THIS IS NOT AN ANOMALY WITH MY 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, ACCORDING TO THE SITES I VISITED, THIS OCCURS FROM 95 AND ON INTO THE 2000 (S) JEEP. THE JEEP DIED ON MY ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT 1/4 TANK AND I COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE WAS OF TRAFFIC IN SPEEDS OF 70+MPH. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE GETTING MY VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS UNABLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT IT WAS UNKNOWN IF THE TRANSMISSION OR THE IGNITION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.

REAR TAILLIGHTS STOP WORKING, CONTACTS DETERIORATE AND BURN. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM BECAUSE TAILLIGHTS WILL GO OUT WITHOUT WARNING TO DRIVER AND CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR THE DRIVER TO BE TICKETED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT FOR FAULTY EQUIPMENT RELEASED BY JEEP. TAILLIGHTS HAVE TO BE REPLACED. *TR

THE POWER IN DOORS WINDOWS WORKS OFF AND ON. THERE WILL BE NO POINT TO LOCK YOUR DOOR AND THEN YOU CAN'T UNLOCK THE DOOR. THE WINDOWS SOMETIMES ROLL DOWN AND TIMES THEY DON'T. THE LIGHTING ON THE INSIDE OF THE CAR COMES OFF AND ON WITHOUT BEING TURNED ON. HAPPENED ON ITS OWN ANYTIME THE CAR IS STARTED AND CAN'T BE TURNED OFF AT TIMES. THE DASH LIGHTS DON'T WORK SOMETIMES BLINKERS WORK OFF AND ON ANY ELECTRICAL IN THE INSIDE OF JEEP IS MESSED UP. *JB
THE MOTORS ON THE FRONT SEATS WERE BROKEN WHEN I BOUGHT IT, AND I NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT SEEMED WOBBLY. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE JEEP THE DRIVER'S SEAT BRACKETS GOT WORSE, SHIFTING WHEN I GOT IN AND RECENTLY BROKE THROUGH. AFTER THE BRACKET BROKE, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT BEGAN GOING OFF WHEN I GO AROUND A CORNER OR CURVE AND THE SEAT SHIFTS. BEGAN RESEARCHING AND FOUND THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANY THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS. I'VE LEFT INSTRUCTIONS WITH MY FAMILY TO SUE JEEP IF I DIE OR GET SERIOUSLY INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY A DIFFERENT CAR AND CAN'T SELL THIS JEEP WITH A BROKEN FRONT SEAT. *TR

THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
OWN A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO AND FRONT DRIVERS SEAT CARRIAGE HAS BROKEN DUE TO A POOR DESIGN. DRIVERS SEAT FRAME AND SEAT BROKEN.
SEAT BRACKETS UNDER DRIVER SEAT HAVE BROKEN, WHICH CAUSES SEAT TO MOVE WHEN GOING AROUND BENDS, GETTING IN AND OUT OF SEAT. THE WAY THE BRACKET HAS BROKEN, THE SEAT CAN PHYSICALLY BE LIFTED UP OFF THE FLOOR. WE REMOVED THE SEAT, THERE IS ONLY 1 OF THE 4 BRACKETS NOT BROKEN, SO IF THE LAST ONE WOULD BREAK THE SEAT COULD TIP OVER OR FALL BACKWARDS OR FORWARDS. IF YOU WOULD GO AROUND A BEND, YOU WOULD EITHER HIT UP AGAINST THE DOOR OR AGAINST THE CONSOLE DEPENDING ON WHICH DIRECTION YOU TURN. IF YOU WOULD HAVE TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES THE SEAT WOULD FLY FORWARD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. WE HAVE FIXED THE SEAT ONCE BY REWELDING THE BRACKETS, AND THEY BROKE AGAIN, SO WE NOW HAVE COMPLETELY REPLACED THE SEAT WITH A SEAT FROM A DIFFERENT JEEP. AFTER THE INITIAL REPAIR, IT TOOK ABOUT A YEAR FOR IT TO BREAK AGAIN. *TR

I OWN A 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH SAFETY RECALL #F25 (ELECTRIC FAN). ON OCTOBER 20, 2010, I WENT TO THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP DUE TO A COOLANT LEAKAGE. THE REPAIR SHOP INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE LEAK WAS CAUSED BY A DAMAGED RADIATOR DUE TO THE ELECTRIC FAN BREAKING INTO PIECES AND CAUSING THE LEAKAGE. I PAID THEM $259.00 FOR THE NEW RADIATOR. I WAS INFORMED OF THE SAFETY RECALL AND I DECIDED TO GO TO THE RIVERDALE CHRYSLER JEEP LOCATED AT 5869 BROADWAY BRONX NY 10463. AFTER A GENERAL INSPECTION THEY NOTICED THE SHROUD WAS ALSO DAMAGED AND REFUSED TO REPAIR/REPLACE STATING THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED. I AM REQUESTING FULL COVERAGE OF ALL RELATED PARTS AND LABOR AS THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE FAN FAILURE. TODAY, 10/17/ 2010, AS I EXITED MY JEEP I HEARD ANOTHER SNAP AND DISCOVERED THAT THE BOLTS CONNECTING MY SEAT TO THE VEHICLE HAD BROKEN. THE SEAT IS COMPLETELY DISCONNECTED FROM THE VEHICLE. I WEIGH 185 LBS AND HAVE BEEN THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE SINCE AUGUST 2004. THE SAFETY ISSUE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE DOOR LOCKS ON MY 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ARE NOT FUNCTIONING. ALL OF THEM MAKE A LOUD "QUACK" NOISE WHEN I TRY TO UNLOCK OR LOCK THE CAR WITH THE REMOTE ENTRY OR FROM THE DOOR. THE REAR HATCH CAN NO LONGER BE OPENED AND BOTH PASSENGER DOORS HAVE TO BE UNLOCKED MANUALLY. THE DRIVER DOORS HAVE TO BE LOCKED MANUALLY.
