WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVER ENGAGED THE CRUISE CONTROL AT 60 MPH. VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THEN, DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL, AND VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. DRIVER HIT THE OFF BUTTON ON THE CRUISE CONTROL AND VEHICLE FAILED TO DISENGAGE. CURRENTLY, VEHICLE WAS UP TO 80 MPH AND CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. DRIVER PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND THE RPMS WENT UP TO 6,000. VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. DRIVER PUT VEHICLE BACK IN DRIVE AND APPLIED THE BRAKES AND VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN TO 30 MPH. THAT WAS WHEN DRIVER WAS ABLE TO PUT THE VEHICLE BACK INTO NEUTRAL AND TURNED VEHICLE OFF. WHEN DRIVER GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE ALL 4 BRAKE PADS WERE ON FIRE, AND THE ROTORS WERE GLOWING ORANGE. *AK

HEATER BLEND DOOR ON 2001 JEEP GRAND. *NM
MULTIPLE FAILURES WITH MY 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE JUST BEYOND THE 3/36 WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 55,000 MILES: 1. VEHICLE REQUIRED A COMPLETE FRONT BRAKE OVERHAUL: NEW PADS, ROTORS, CALIPERS. ALSO, . HOOD PROPS FAILED; 3. WATER PUMP FAILED, WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED, AND REAR HATCH PROPS BEGINNING TO FAIL THESE INCIDENTS ALL OCCURRED BETWEEN 36,000 AND 55,000 MILES (2004-2005). EEP TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING BEYOND 36,000 MILES. THEY OFFER EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THE CORPORATE OFFICE. I STRONGLY RECOMMED AGAINST PURCHASING JEEP PRODUCTS.*AK
BRAKE ROTORS WARPED. THREE TIMES WITHIN A FOUR YEAR PERIOD WITH ONLY 31,000 MILES. ROTORS WERE REPLACED WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR BY DEALER AND THE OTHER TWO TIMES HAVE BEEN MY COST. CHRYSLER REFUSES TAKE MAKE IT RIGHT BECAUSE IT APPEARS TO ONLY AFFECT 3-4% OF THEIR JEEPS ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE TECH. *JB
SHIFTING CABLE WAS REPLACED AFTER FAILURE. JEEP WAS "SLIPPING" IN GEAR. I WAS RUN OVER BY THE VEHICLE AFTER PUTTING IT IN PARK AND GETTING OUT. VEHICLE BEGAN "SLIPPING" IN GEAR AGAIN. I HAD NO REVERSE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID A LEVER WAS LOOSE ON THE TRANNY AND THEY TIGHTENED IT. STILL SLIPPING. *JB
THE POWER WIDOWS FAIL DUE TO A PLASTIC PART THAT HOLDS THE CABLE TOGETHER. THE REPLACEMENT PART COSTS $214.00 AT THE DEALERSHIP ONLY, AND THAT IS THE WHOLE MECHANISM, NOT JUST THE PART THAT BREAKS. I HAVE HAD THREE OF THE FOUR WINDOWS DO THIS, AND IT WOULD BE NICE IF THEY COULD WORK SOMETHING OUT SO THAT I DON'T HAVE TO PAY A LOT OF MONEY TO FIX WHAT APPEARS TO BE A DEFECTIVE PART. *JB

JEEP HAS A DEFECTIVE PART IN THE OPERATOR ASSEMBLY OF ITS POWER WINDOWS WHICH CAUSES THE WINDOW TO FALL INTO THE FULL OPEN POSITION. *AK
REAR LEFT BRAKE LIGHT FAILING, REAR TAIL LIGHT IS FADING WHEN HITTING BRAKES AND TURNS OFF AT NIGHT WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE TURNED ON AS IF IT IS SHORTING OUT. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER JEEPS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. *AK
I OWN A 2001 GRAND CHEROKEE 4X4. WITH IN THE PAST THREE WEEKS, I HAVE GONE TO ROLL DOWN MY WINDOW, BOTH ON THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE DOOR. WHEN I DO SO, THE INTERNAL MECHANISM HAS FALLEN APART AND I HAVE HAD TO GET THE ENTIRE MECHANISM REPLACE AT A COST OF $400 EACH. I WANT TO KNOW IF THERE IS KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS. BLEND DOOR FAILURE. *CN
I WAS BACKING MY CAR OUT OF MY GARAGE WHEN I REALIZED THAT I FORGOT SOMETHING. I WENT TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND IT WAS STILL MOVING FORWARD. I TRIED TO PUT IT IN REVERSE AND IT CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD. AFTER TRYING TO PUT IN DIFFERENT GEARS, I REALIZED THAT IT WAS NOT GOING TO GO INTO ANY GEAR. I WAS FORCED TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND PUT THE PARKING BREAK ON. FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT ON A HILL SINCE THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO PARK. SINCE IT WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR, THE CAR'S SAFETY FEATURE KICKED IN AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO RE-START IT. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A GARAGE AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT CABLE HAD BROKEN. THE CHARGE WAS $200.00, WHICH INCLUDED THE TOWING. MY CAR HAS 69,000 MILES ON IT, BUT IT IS MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES. I AM NOT HARD ON THIS CAR AND NO ONE ELSE DRIVES IT. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING TO A CAR OF THIS AGE. IN FACT, NO ONE I KNOW HAS EVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING TO ANY CAR. I FEEL THIS PART MUST HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE. THE MECHANIC SAID "IT JUST BROKE". I ASKED IF IT LOOKED LIKE SOMETHING COULD HAVE HAPPENED, LIKE A FOREIGN OBJECT BREAKING IT. HE SAID "NO". HAD I BEEN IN A SITUATION WHERE I WAS ON A STEEP HILL I WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY CONCERNED ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT THE PARKING BREAK ALONE WOULD HAVE HELD SINCE I COULD NOT GET IT TO GO INTO PARK OR ANY OTHER GEAR TO MOVE IT. WHAT WOULD I HAVE DONE? I BELIEVE THIS COULD BE A DANGEROUS SITUATION IF IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME. THE PART WAS REPLACED AND SEEMS TO BE WORKING FINE. I DO NOT HAVE THE OLD PART. *NM
ON MY 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED CLIMATE CONTROL IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. NO MATTER WHAT THE SETTING IS, IT BLOWS COLD AIR FROM SOME VENTS AND HOT FROM OTHERS. THE REPAIR COST IS ESTIMATED AROUND $1200. THE BRAKES WERE ALMOST CAUSING A LOSS OF CONTROL WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN ROAD. THE TRUCK WOULD START SHAKING VIOLENTLY AS I APPLY THE BRAKES, TO THE POINT WHERE THE STEERING WAS NOT AFFECTING THE BEHAVIOR OF THE TRUCK. REPAIR AND PART REPLACEMENTS COST $820. OUTRAGEOUS! *JB

I LEFT MY VEHICLE PARKED TO GO SHOPPING, BUT UPON ARRIVAL BACK TO THE VEHICLE I SAW THAT MY PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WINDOW WAS HALFWAY DOWN. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I REALIZED THAT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY WINDOW HAD HAPPENED ONLY 6 MONTHS EARLIER TO THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT WINDOW. THE REGULATOR OR WIRE MALFUNCTIONED/SNAPPED. I AM HAVING TO PAY TO FIX SOMETHING THAT SHOULDN'T JUST HAPPEN TO BOTH WINDOWS. *AK
1. MY 2001 JEEP GAND CHEROKEE WAS INVOVLED IN A FRONT END WRECK WHICH TOTALED OUT THE VEHICLE. . NEITHER PASSENGER OR DRIVER AIR BAG DEPLOYED IN THIS INCIDENT. THE DRIVERS HEAD HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. THE PASSENGER WAS UNINJURED. *AK 3. THE JEEP WAS TOWED TO HUNTER CHRYLSER PLYMOUTH FOR AN ESTIMATE. WE WERE TOLD IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS DUE TO EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE AND THE FRAME WAS BENT. MY QUESTION TO HUNTER WAS WHY DID THE AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOY? THEY RESPONDED THAT THEY DON'T ALWAYS COME OUT IN A FRONT END ACCIDENT. IT DEPENDS ON WHAT PART OF THE BUMPER WAS HIT. I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND THIS WHEN THE CAR WAS TOTALED AND IT WAS DUE TOTAL FRONT END DAMAGE. I BELIEVE SOMETHING IN THIS CAR MALFUNCTIONED. DO WE HAVE ANY RECOURSE? WE HAVE PHOTOS, ACCIDENT REPORT, AND ESTIMATE OF TOTAL.
LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE AND THE DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL ON MY 01 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED WENT OUT. SAME THINGS AS THOUSANDS OF OTHER JEEP OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED. FAULTY BLEND DOOR IN THE DASH WENT OUT, COST ME 1800 DOLLARS TO REPAIR. THIS HAPPENS TO EVERY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE I KNOW OF BETWEEN YEARS 1999-2004. A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. *TR
THERE IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE A/C BLEND DOORS FROM 1998 THROUGH 2005. THERE IS A TSB ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT IT IS NOT WARRANTY COVERED AFTER THE ORIGINAL 36000 MILE WARRANTY. PER THE TSB, THE BLEND DOOR ASSEMBLY IS POORLY DESIGNED IN THAT THERE IS NOT RANGE OF TRAVEL STOP ON THE ACTUATOR MOTOR, CAUSING THE PLASTIC SHAFT TO ABSORB ALL THE MOTOR TORQUE, EVENTUALLY BREAKING THE SHAFT. THE PROBLEM IS THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW WHICH SHOULD BE RECALLED. I HAD TO SPEND 900 DOLLARS TO GET MINE FIXED BECAUSE THE LABOR REQUIRED TO PULL THE DASH. THIS PROBLEM EXISTS OVER SEVERAL MODEL YEARS OF THIS VEHICLE PER THE TSB, AND IS FAIRLY COMMON. I FEEL THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES FOR REPAIR. IF THE BLEND DOOR BREAKS, THERE IS COLD AIR ONLY, NO HEAT, MAKING WINTER DRIVING POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DUE TO NO DEFROST. *JB
ON MY 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED'S DRIVER SIDE FRONT SEAT, THERE ARE TWO METAL PIECES THAT LIFT THE SEAT UP IN THE BACK. THESE TWO PIECES HAVE SNAPPED OFF ON ME WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD CAUSING ME TO ALMOST WRECK MY CAR. THIS NOT BEING BAD ENOUGH, THE BACK REST PART OF THE SEAT TWISTS TO THE RIGHT CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO SIT AT AN ANGLE AND MAKING FOR A VERY AWKWARD RIDE. THESE THINGS ARE NOT RANDOM THINGS, THEY ARE HAPPENING ALOT WITH PEOPLE WHO OWN THESE JEEPS AND I BELIEVE THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT BEFORE ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED!! *TR
DRIVER SEAT FRAME SNAPPED OFF MAIN FRAME.*AK
DRIVER'S SIDE POWER WINDOW FAILED OPERATION. IN THE PROCESS OF LOWERING THE WINDOW I HEARD A SERIES OF GRINDING SOUNDS AND STOPPED THE ACTIONS IMMEDIATELY. I THEN SOUGHT TO RAISE THE WINDOW, BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. THE WINDOW IS NOW IN A FULLY OPEN POSITION AND WILL NOT RESPOND TO ANY COMMANDS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD DRIVER SIDE WINDOW STARTED TO GO DOWN AND WOULD NOT GO BACK UP. THE FRONT DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED, ALONG WITH THREE RETAINER DOOR TRIM PANELS. THIS COST $324. IN VIEW OF THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS PROBLEM, A RECALL SEEMS TO BE IN LINE FOR THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2001 MODEL.*AK
DEBRIS ACCUMULATED IN THE #3 PISTON AND CAUSED ENGINE FAILURE. WE HAD A 4.7L ENGINE. THIS RECALL IS FOR 4.0L BUT IT ALSO HAPPENS ON THE 4.7L. THIS PARTICULAR MODEL, THE 2001 GRAND JEEP CHEROKEE. YOU CAN ONLY REPLACE THE ENGINE WITH THE SAME MODEL AND YEAR, MAKING IT EXPENSIVE AND HARD TO FIND.
AT 41000 MILES JUST OUTSIDE OF THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY BOTH THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVERS POWER WINDOW REGULATORS FAILED. LIKE MANY OF THE OTHERS SHOWN HERE, THERE WAS A POP AND THE WINDOW SIMPLY SLID DOWN INTO THE DOOR. THE PLASTIC PIECE THAT THE "UP" END OF THE CABLE ATTACHES TO BROKE ON BOTH REGULATORS. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE THE DESIGN ALLOWS THE SLACK CABLE TO JAM UP IN THE GROOVES DAMAGING BOTH THE SPOOL AND THE CABLE. IT ALMOST SEEMS AS IF IT'S DESIGNED TO FAIL AND COMPLETELY DESTROY ITSELF. A SIMPLE FIX WOULD BE TO INSTALL METAL EYELTS ON THE ENDS OF THE CABLES AND USE SCREWS TO ATTACHED THEM TO THE LIFTING PLATE IN PLACE OF THE SOFT PLASTIC USED. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE MADE TO CORRECT THIS FOR ALL VEHICLES THAT USE THIS TYPE OF REGULATOR. *JB
RE ODI # 10213768 REGARDING 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LTD, BLEND DOORS FAILURE ON HVAC, OCCURRED THREE YEARS AGO. $1,500.00 TO REPAIR, WINDOWS FOG CAUSING UNSAFE CONDITIONS. MANY VEHICLES AFFECTED, JEEP AWARE OF PROBLEM TSB#24-001-04, FAULTY ENGINEERING AND PARTS, WILL NOT BUY JEEP PRODUCT AGAIN. *TR
VEHICLE VIBRATED/SHOOK WHEN BRAKING. VEHICLE WAS TAKENTO THE DEALER, WHO TURNED THE ROTORS ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. HOWEVER, PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
THE SUVS RESISTOR-BLOWER MOTOR, WHICH IS PART OF THE A/C, HEATER AND BLOWER SYSTEM, FAILED. LITHIA JEEP SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES, WHO DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED THE UNIT, INDICATED ITS PLACEMENT IS TOO CLOSE TO A MAJOR HEAT SOURCE IN THE CAR; THE EXCESSIVE HEAT HAS CAUSED THE UNIT TO FAIL EARLY. THE SERVICE REP INDICATED THAT WHILE THE UNIT FAILED BEFORE THE THIRD ANNIVERSARY OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH WAS NEW WHEN PURCHASED, THE MILES WERE BEYOND THE WARRANTY LEVEL. THE REPRESENTATIVE FURTHER INDICATED THAT JEEP HAS SINCE REDESIGNED THE PART AND/OR LOCATION, PREVENTING THE PROBLEM FROM OCCURRING IN LATER MODEL VEHICLES. *AK
THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T ACCELERATE BEYOND 2ND GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED BECAUSE IT HAD BURNED OUT. THE FAILURE RECURRED ONE MONTH LATER, THE VEHICLE STOPPED ACCELERATING AND FELT LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AGAIN BECAUSE OF THE SAME FAILURE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING WITH THE SEAT HEATER IN USE THE HEAT BURNED COMPLETELY THROUGH THE HEATING ELEMENT. *NM BOTH LEATHER SEAT HEATING ELEMENTS SHORTED OUT AND BURNED. THE CLOTH WRAPPING LEATHER SEATING WAS NOT DAMAGED. THE BLOWER WAS INOPERATIVE. *SC *JB
THE ENGINE REVVED AT A VERY HIGH RPMS WHEN STARTING. WHEN CHANGING GEARS IT MADE A LOUD CLUNG SOUND AND WANTED TO LUNGE INTO THAT DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER SHIFTED PROPERLY BETWEEN GEARS. IT WAS ALMOST LIKE IT WAS SLIPPING, AND THEN FINDING THE RIGHT GEAR. IT WAS NOT A SMOOTH TRANSMISSION EITHER. SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE A LITTLE OVER 1-1/2 YEARS AGO THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP MORE THAN 15 TIMES. THE DEALERS COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. I HAD TO REPLACE A TRANSMISSION SENSOR, 02 SENSOR, SUN ROOF, REAR END, AND CD PLAYER. THE HEATER BLEND DOOR HAD TO BE REPLACED , WHICH DIDN'T SOUND EXPENSIVE, BUT THE FIX WAS TO REMOVE THE ENTIRE HEATER PLENUM AND REPLACE THE BROKEN DOOR, STOP AND DRIVE ASSEMBLY. COST $890.00. *AK
CONCERNING MY OUT OF WARRANTY 2001 JEEP GRANDE CHEROKEE, SINCE JULY 2003, AND AS RECENTLY AS YESTERDAY, ALL 4 OF THE SIDE POWER WINDOWS DEVELOPED BROKEN MECHANISMS CAUSING THE WINDOW TO SLIDE INTO THE DOOR. THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW HAD THE SAME PROBLEM A SECOND TIME SO IT LOOKS LIKE THIS PROCESS IS STARTING AGAIN. TOTAL COST FOR THESE REPAIRS ARE APPROXIMATELY $1,550.CHRYSLER KNOWS OF THESE ISSUES AND WILL NOT RECALL OR PAY RETROACTIVELY. WOULD LOVE TO RECOVER THESE COSTS FOR A VERY POORLY DESIGNED SUV.*AK
THE CONSUMER OWNS TWO 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES. IN BOTH VEHICLE'S THE RIGHT REAR AXLE SEAL BROKE CAUSING DIFFERENTIAL FLUID TO LEAK INTO BRAKE SYSTEM. *BF EACH VEHICLE SUSTAINED $1000. IN DAMAGE. THE SEAL WAS FIXED AND THE BRAKES WERE REPAIRED IN BOTH CASES. THE CONSUMER THINKS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT IS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *NM
BLEND AIR DOORS FOR AC/HEAT FAIL AND CAUSE LOSS OF HEAT AND WINDSHIELD TO FOG UP. BEEN SERVICED AND REPLACED TWICE ALONG WITH AC/HEAT CONTROLLER. *JB
WHILE DRIVING,THE DRIVER NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE UNCONTROLLABLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE BRAKE PADS,AND ROTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CORROSION. CONSUMER INFORMED MECHANIC THAT THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION.*AK
THIS IS THE THIRD FAILURE OF THE POWER WINDOW REGULATORS. TWICE ON THE DRIVERS WINDOW AND ONCE ON THE PASSENGER WINDOW. THE FIRST INCIDENCE WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AT NO COST. THE OTHER 2 WERE COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH COPAYS. I UNDERSTAND THAT POWER WINDOWS FAIL BUT TO HAVE TWO ON THE DRIVERS SIDE GO WITHIN AN 18 MONTH PERIOD IS UNACCEPTABLE. AFTER REVIEWING OTHER COMPLAINTS THIS APPEARS TO BE THE NORM VERSUS THE EXCEPTION. THERE MUST BE AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURING DEFECT WHICH SHOULD BE FIXED AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. SERVICE MANAGER ADVISES THIS IS A COMMON OCCURANCE BECAUSE THE DRIVERS WINDOW GETS USED THE MOST. I HAVE OWNED OTHER VEHICLES WITH ZERO DEFECTS OF THIS NATURE.

LAST WEEK THE VIBRATION BECAME VERY BAD, THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED AS WELL AS THE FRONT END OF THE CAR. HARD TO CONTROL THE CAR. SEEMED THERE WAS PULLING TO THE RIGHT ALSO. (THE CAR HAS 36000+ MI. IT'S A 2001 GC JEEP. ) TOOK THE CAR TO A GOODYEAR DEALER WHO SAID IT WAS WARPED ROTORS. THEY MADE FRONT BRAKE DISC PAD REPLACEMENT, RESURFACED LEFT & RIGHT FRONT ROTOR AS WELL AS REAR ONES. THE DEALER MENTION THIS CAN HAPPEN ON THESE VEHICLES WHEN THE ROTORS/BRAKES GET WET. WELL, DAH! WHAT HAPPENS WHEN IT'S RAINING AND YOUR RUNNING THROUGH PUDDLES OF WATER. HOW OFTEN IS THIS GOING TO HAPPEN WITH THIS VEHICLE? IT IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY WHICH IS SPECIFICALLY MENTIONED IN THE MAINTANENCE BOOKLET. SOUNDS TO ME TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. *AK
THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW ALL THE SUDDEN STARTED TO SLIP DOWN INTO THE DOOR AND WOULD NOT GO BACK UP AGAIN. I REPLACED THE POWER WINDOW ASSEMBLY FOR THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW 2 MONTHS AGO COSTING ME $330. NOW MY FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW IS DOING THE SAME THING. *AK
THE FRONT, DRIVER SIDE WINDOW DROPPED INTO THE DOOR. THIS IS THE SECOND WINDOW IN MY 2001 GRAND CHEROKEE THAT HAS DONE THIS WITHIN THE LAST MONTH. ALL INSTANCES HAVE OCCURRED AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRATION AND IT COSTS ABOUT $200 JUST FOR THE REGULATOR. LOOKING AT THE BROKEN REGULATOR ONE CAN SEE THAT A PLASTIC PART WHERE THE CABLE IS ATTACHED BROKE SO THE CABLE FELL LOOSE. AS AN ENGINEER I KNOW THAT PLASTIC PROPERTIES CAN VARY FROM LOT TO LOT RESULTING IN INCONSISTANT STRENGTH OR THE PART IS POORLY DESIGNED. THE THIRD PARTY REPAIR SERVICE THAT REPLACED THEM SAID HE REPLACES MORE REGUALTORS ON GRAND CHAROKEES THAN ANY OTHER CAR.*AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM THE START POSITION VEHICLE DID NOT PICK UP ANY SPEED UNTIL IT REACHED 35 MPH OR GREATER. *AK
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES FROM A HIGH SPEED FRONT END SHAKES VIOLENTLY. *AK
THE FRONT, PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW DROPPED OFF ITS TRACK AND INTO THE DOOR. THIS IS THE THIRD WINDOW IN MY 2001 GRAND CHEROKEE THAT HAS DONE THIS WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS. FIRST THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW, AND THEN THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW DID THE SAME THING. ALL INSTANCES HAVE OCCURRED AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRATION AND IT COSTS $360 TO REPLACE THE WINDOW REGULATOR EACH TIME. EMAIL INQUIRIES TO CHRYSLER AFTER EACH OCCURANCE HAVE YIELDED NOTHING MORE THAN AN APOLOGY FOR MY TROUBLES. I THINK THERE IS A DEFECT WITH THE WINDOW REGULATOR, AND EXPECT THE FOURTH WINDOW TO BREAK AT ANY TIME.*AK
I HAVE A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO 6CYL. AT APPROX 27,000 I EXPERIENCED A VIBRATION/PULSATION WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT PADS WERE WORN OUT AND THE ROTORS WERE OUT OF ROUND AND NEEDED TURNING. I HAD THAT WORK PERFORMED WITH DISMAY THAT EVERY 27,000 MILES THAT WOULD NEED TO BE DONE. IT IS NOW 48,000 MILES (21,000 LATER) AND THE SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED. ACCORDING TO JEEP A REVISED BRAKE CALIPER DESIGN HAS BEEN BUILT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. AS OF THIS LAST CHANGING (USING THE NEW ROTORS AND CALIPERS PER TSB 05-003-02B) I WILL HAVE SPENT $700 IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS ON BRAKES THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE WORN OUT ONCE INL 50,000. I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS REPLACEMENT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT BEING THAT IT IS PREMATURE FAILURE OF A POOR DESIGN, I BELIEVE THAT IT SHOULD BE. *JB
I BOUGHT MY 2001 GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO 4X4 ON AUG. 20, 2001, IN NOVEMBER 2002, WITH 8,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE I FELT THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKE WHEN BRAKING AT HIGH SPEEDS. THE FRONT ROTORS, CALIPERS, AND PADS WERE SHOT. ROCKLAND AUTO PLAZA REPLACED THEM AT NO CHARGE UNDER THE WARRANTY. THIS PAST WEEK, WITH 17,000 MILES ON THE CAR, THE FRONT ROTORS WERE WARPED AGAIN. WHITE PLAINS CHRYSLER REPLACED THEM AT NO CHARGE BUT ADVISED ME THAT THIS TYPE OF WEAR WAS NORMAL FOR AN SUV. OBVIOUSLY, FROM THE COMPLAINTS HERE, THIS IS NOT NORMAL BUT A PROBLEM THAT DIAMLER CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ADDRESS. 3 PAIRS OF ROTORS ON A CAR WITH 17,000 MILES, DRIVEN MOSTLY ON THE HIGHWAY, IS UN-EXCUSABLE.*AK
THE CAR IS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD WITH FACTORY INSTALLED ALLOY WHEEL AND AFTER TWO YEARS I NOTICED THE CHROME STARTING TO CHIP OFF ON ALL FOUR RIMS. I RECENTLY REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RIMS WERE IN EVEN WORSE SHAPE THAN I HAD EXPECTED. FOR THE LENGTH OF TIME THAT THIS OCCURED AND THE EXTRA MONEY PAID FOR THE OPTION, I JUST DON'T FEEL THAT THIS IS RIGHT. I AM OVER ON MY WARRANTY MILES AND FEEL AS IF THERE IS NO RECOURSE.
BETWEEN JULY 2003 AND TODAY, MY 2001 JEEP CHEROKEE LAREDO HAS "POPPED AND DROPPED" 3 WINDOWS (I.E. THE REGULATOR MOTOR BROKE AND THE WINDOW DROPPED INTO THE DOOR LEAVING ME UNABLE TO ROLL UP THE WINDOW) - FIRST THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW LAST AUGUST, THEN THE LEFT REAR PASSENGER WINDOW IN NOVEMBER, AND TODAY THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT WINDOW. THE FIRST WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTEE, BUT THE SECOND TWO WERE UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH A $100 COPAY FOR EACH INCIDENT. AVONDALE CHRYSLER JEEP IN ARIZONA COMPLETED THE FIRST TWO REPAIRS AND IS IN THE PROCESS OF REPAIRING THE THIRD INCIDENT.*AK

JULY 27, 2004, 5,100 MILES AFTER REPAIRED AND PROBLEM THOUGHT CORRECTED, VEHICAL BEGAN PULSATING. DEALERSHIP ADV ROTORS WARPED AND WOULD NOT COVER IT SINCE IT IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY.*AK

AUGUST OF 2003 NOTED PULSATION IN STEERING WHEEL, DEALER REPLACED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS, CALIPERS AND PADS AND RESURFACED REAR BRAKE ROTORS. AK JULY OF 2004 NOTED THE PLUSATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL, DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS AUGUST 2004 THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 26,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND THE AMOUNT OF REPAIRS TO THE BRAKING SYSTEM SEEMS EXCESSIVE
