TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BLOWER DOORS FOR THE AIR AND HEATING VENTS WERE FRACTURED AND CAUSED A FAILURE WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATED. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT A REMEDY WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE TYPE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THREE OF HIS FOUR WINDOW REGULATORS WERE DAMAGED, CAUSING THE WINDOWS TO FALL DOWN INTO THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPAIRED EACH WINDOW REGULATOR AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE FOR $400. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ONTO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIANS WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OR DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE DRIVER SEAT LEANED TO THE SIDE INDEPENDENTLY WHICH MADE THE VEHICLE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE DRIVER SEAT FRACTURED FROM THE BRACKET. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT PRODUCING ANY PARTS FOR REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. DRIVERS SEAT BRACKET FAILURE FOR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 1999-2004. DUE TO POOR DESIGN THE BRACKETS WHICH HOLD THE SEAT TO THE FLOOR BOARD WILL BREAK FREE AND CAN CAUSE SEAT TO BREAK FREE WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WHICH THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF AND CHOOSES TO DO NOTHING. WHEN THE BRACKET FAILS THE WHOLE SEAT MUST BE REMOVED AND THE BRACKET REPLACED. *KB
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BRACKET BROKE ON THE RIGHT SIDE WHILE DRIVING WITH NO APPARENT REASON. THE SEAT ON THE RIGHT SIDE NOW SLUMPS DOWN TO THE RIGHT WITH A TERRIBLE ANGLE. DRIVING THE JEEP NOW MEANS ONE HAS TO SIT @ VERY UNCOMFORTABLE MANNER AND CONSTANTLY BE ON GUARD TO NOT MOVE OR THE SEAT WILL ROCK. *TR
VISIBILITY: DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER SYSTEM: WINDSHIELD: BLOWER FOR 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED. DUAL CLIMATE CONTROLS ARE INOPERABLE AND COLD AIR IS CONSTANTLY BLOWING ON MY WINDSHIELD INTERIOR, CAUSING IT TO FOG UP, LIMITING MY VISIBILITY CONSIDERABLY. *TR
CAR STARTED TO RUN REALLY BAD THEN WHEN I TRIED TO CRANK IT BACKUP IT RAN FOR A FEW MINUTES AND DIED. I NOTICED GAS THEN FLAMES COMING FROM EXHAUST PIPE. IT WILL RUN FOR FEW MINUTES BUT REALLY BAD , THEN IT WILL DIE. IT WANT CRANK IMMEDIATELY AFTER IT DIES YOU HAVE TO WAIT A WHILE BEFORE IT WILL CRANK AGAIN. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEMS ARE TO CORRECT THEM. *TR
HAD CRUISE CONTROL ON AT 70 MPH IN NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS ON THE INTERSTATE (70 MPH SPEED LIMIT). PUT FOOT ON ACCELERATOR TO SPEED UP IN ORDER TO CHANGE TO LEFT LANE AND BETTER CLEAR THE TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. INITIAL ACCELERATOR PUSH YIELDED NO RESPONSE, SO I PUSHED FURTHER DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. WHEN THE PEDAL REACHED THE FLOOR, ACCELERATION SHOT UP AND I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR. CRUISE CONTROL WAS STILL ENGAGED AND I EXPECTED MY SPEED TO GO BACK TO THE SET CRUISE SPEED OF 70 MPH. I NOTICED THEN THAT THE ACCELERATION CONTINUED TO INCREASE AND I TRIED TO BREAK ONCE ON THE BREAK PEDAL. I GOT NO RESPONSE. I PUSHED HARDER ON THE BREAK AND FELT THE ACCELERATION CONTINUE TO INCREASE AND THEN SMELLED BRAKE HEAT. I PUSHED ON THE CRUISE BUTTON TO TRY TO TURN CRUISE OFF. NO RESPONSE. I FELT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHICH WAS FLAT TO THE FLOOR AND TRIED TAPPING IT TO GET IT TO SPRING BACK UP. NO RESPONSE. THEN I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND SAW THE ENGINE REV TO THE REDLINE ON THE RPM GAUGE. I TOOK IT BACK INTO DRIVE AND STILL THE ACCELERATION CONTINUED AS I HELD THE BRAKE HARDER AND HARDER. KNOWING I WAS NOT DOING ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM I CALLED 911 THAT I WAS ACCELERATING OUT OF CONTROL AND I NEEDED THEIR GUIDANCE. THE 911 DISPATCHER TOLD ME TO: (1) PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND KEEP IT THERE, (2) START PULLING OVER AS THE CAR SLOWED, (3) ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, (4) PULL THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE, (5) TURN THE IGNITION KEY OFF AND BRAKE TO A STOP. I ASKED THE 911 DISPATCHER TO SEND POLICE WHO CAME AND WAITED WITH ME FOR A TOW TRUCK. *TR
COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY LOOSE ALL POWER. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE PISTON SKIRT HAD CRACKED AND EVENTUALLY BROKE AWAY CAUSING A COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE ENGINE. RESOLUTION WAS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP 4.0 ENGINE AFTER THE PISTON WAS REDESIGNED AROUND 2000-2001. JEEP SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THE VEHICLES AND REPLACED THE PISTONS BEFORE THEY STARTED CRACKING AND CAUSING ENGINE FAILURES. *TR UPDATED 05/29/13*LJ
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SEAT HAD BECOME EXTREMELY WOBBLY AND UNSECURE OVER A COURSE OF TIME. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AND ATTEMPTING A LEFT TURN, THE DRIVER SEAT FRACTURED AND THE CONTACT WAS SHIFTED ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EVERY TIME HE REFUELED, FUEL WOULD SPEW BACK OUT FROM THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT GASOLINE FUEL FUMES WERE EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
THE HEAD CRACKING ISSUE SEEMS TO BE THE RESULT OF SEVERAL BAD CASTINGS AND I CAN ONLY SPECULATE THAT THE CAST IRON USED IN ONE LARGE BATCH MADE AROUND THE YEAR 2000 MUST HAVE BEEN OF POOR QUALITY. THE AREA BETWEEN THE NO.3 AND 4 EXHAUST PORTS IS THE HOTTEST PART OF THE HEAD AND IS SUBJECTED TO THE LARGEST TEMPERATURE FLUCTUATIONS, MAKING THAT THE AREA MOST PRONE TO CRACK. THE FIRST SIGN OF A PROBLEM IS UNEXPLAINED LOSS OF COOLANT. IF THERE ARE NO EXTERNAL COOLANT LEAKS, REMOVE THE OIL FILLER CAP AND LOOK BETWEEN THE VALVE SPRINGS OF THE NO.3 AND 4 CYLINDERS.
THE DRIVER SEAT METAL BASE HAS BROKEN IN 2 PARTS ON BOTH SIDES. THE DRIVERS SEAT IS LOOSE AND I CANT FIND ANY REPLACEMENT. *TT
THE 99-2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS MAJOR DEFECTS IN THE HEATING/AC SYSTEM AND CHRYSLER IS MAKING CUSTOMERS PAY FOR THERE DEFECT.*TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 60 MPH WHEN THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT WARMER BECAME EXCESSIVELY HOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE HEATER SWITCH HAD BURNED OUT THE HEATING CORE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VENT DOORS FAILED TO OPEN, CAUSING THE HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING UNITS TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN WHERE THE FAILURE WAS CONFIRMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED THAT VIN DID NOT QUALIFY FOR A REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER:09V117000 (SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:SEAT HEATER/COOLER). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 96,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVERS SEAT HAD HOT SPOTS AND BURNED HIM WHILE DRIVING. THE FRONT SEAT ELECTRIC HEATER ELEMENTS OVERHEATED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V117000, SEATS: FRONT ASSEMBLY: SEAT HEATER/COOLER. THEY MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
I WAS DRIVING IN A MALL PARKING LOT LOOKING FOR A PARKING SPACE. I WAS TURNING THE CORNER TO GO DOWN THE NEXT AISLE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE JEEP. AS I TURNED TO THE LEFT TO CONTINUE LOOKING FOR A PARK, THE JEEP WAS SPEEDING OUT OF CONTROL AND I WAS SLAMMING ON THE BRAKE WITH BOTH FEET AND THE JEEP JUST KEPT ACCELERATING! I WAS UNABLE TO STEER AWAY FROM THE VEHICLES I WAS HEADING TOWARDS. AS I WAS HEADING TOWARDS THE FIRST VEHICLE THAT I HIT, I WAS TRYING TO STEER AWAY FROM IT AND THEN THE JEEP TURNED TO THE RIGHT AND KEPT ACCELERATING. I ENDED UP HITTING FOUR OTHER VEHICLES ( 5 VEHICLES TOTAL) AND FINALLY CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AFTER HITTING THE LAST VEHICLE. THERE IS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO MY JEEP AND TO THE OTHER VEHICLES INVOLVED. WE HAVE NOT HAD THE DAMAGE ACCESSED YET, SO WE DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH THIS WILL COST TO FIX. I BELIEVE MY JEEP IS TOTALED. WE ARE THANKFUL NOBODY WAS INJURED AND THAT I AM OK, JUST SHAKEN UP A LITTLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC TO REPAIR THE RADIATOR AND HE FOUND THE FAILURE IN THE COOLING FAN. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED HER OF RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V199000, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING: COOLING SYSTEM: FAN BUT HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED HER THAT RECALLS ARE VIN SPECIFIC AND SHE SHOULD CONTACT NHTSA FOR THE REASON. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
FRONT SEAT OF 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IS UNSAFE. HEARD FROM NUMEROUS OTHER JEEP DRIVERS THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL YEAR. DRIVING ALONG AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CHAIR BREAKS AND BECOMES UNSTEADY. CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO TRY AND PULL OF THE ROAD. THE CHAIR WILL NOW RECLINE WHEN YOU ACCELERATE AND FLOW FORWARD UPON BREAKING - WHICH HAS ITS IMPACT ON GAS/BREAK PEDALS WHEN APPLIED. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE HEATER DOES NOT BLOW HOT AIR. IT WILL NOT DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THEREFORE CAUSES A SAFETY HAZARD BY LIMITING SIGHT OF THE DRIVER. *TR
2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED 10 WAY POWER SEAT - TWICE FAILED. ONCE AT ABOUT 75000 MILES AND AGAIN AT 130000 MILES. DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT FRAME BROKEN ON 2001 GRAND CHEROKEE, CAUSING SUDDEN ABRUPT MOVEMENT OF THE SEAT, AND SHORT TERM LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. FORTUNATELY, WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF VEHICLE WITHOUT ACCIDENT. TO DATE, I HAVE HAD TO PERFORM THE FOLLOWING REPAIRS TO THIS SEAT: 1) WELD LOWER SEAT FRAME TWICE DUE TO METAL FATIGUE FAILURE. POORLY DESIGNED; TOO THIN STOCK. 2) WELD THE SEAT BACK FRAME WHERE IT BROKE DUE TO METAL FATIGUE. AGAIN, TOO THIN MATERIAL. 3) SEAT HEATER SHORTED OUT, CAUSED SMALL BURN AREA ON THE LOWER CUSHION. I REPAIRED SAME. 4) BOTH THE BACK AND BOTTOM SEAT CUSHIONS ARE MADE OF EXPANDED FOAM RUBBER WHICH HAS DETERIORATED AND TORN IN THE SEAT FRAME AREA. THIS POORLY DESIGNED SEAT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT, AND THERE SHOULD BE A MANDATORY RECALL. I HAVE HIT SEVERAL WEBSITES RECENTLY AND FOUND LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS VERY SAME ISSUE. WHY HAS NOT THE SAFETY BOARD REQUIRED A RECALL? DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE ACTION IS TAKEN? *TR
THE LEFT REAR BRAKE LIGHT DOES NOT WORK WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON. THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH ONE OF THE CONTACTS IN THE BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE AND HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. YOU HAVE TO BEND THE CONTACT BACK OUT SO IT MAKES CONTACT AGAIN. *TR
I WAS BACKING UP IN A PARKING LOT. THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT SNAPPED LOSE AND I HIT TWO CEMENT BARACADES. BADLY DENTING MY REAR DOOR. LUCKY THERE WAS NOT A PERSON STANDING THERE, I WAS AT A COLLEGE. THE SEAT HAD BEEN ROCKING A BIT. WHEN I LOOKED AT IT THE SEAT MOUNT THE REAR PIVOT POINT HAD COMPLETELY BROKEN OFF BOTH SIDES. THE MOUNTS HOLDING THE SEAT TO THE MOUNT WERE ALSO BROKEN. THIS SEEM TO HAPPEN A LOT AND I COULD NOT FINE A JUNK YARD REPLACEMENT.. DEALERS WANTED $700-$1200 FOR THE REPAIR. I TOOK THE SEAT OUT AND HAD IT WELDED. I CAN NO LONGER USE THE HORIZONTAL OR VERTICAL SEAT ADJUSTMENT BUT IT TILTS AND GOES BACK AND FORTH. I HAVE NOT TRIED TO FIX THE BACK DOOR YET. *TR

BLEND AIR DOOR FAILURE. *TR
I WASHED MY 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AT A COIN OPERATED CAR WASH. I CLIMBED INTO THE CAR, STARTED IT UP AND SHIFTED FROM PARK TO DRIVE. THE CAR WENT TO FULL THROTTLE INSTANTLY ON IT'S OWN. I APPLIED BRAKES BUT THAT HAD LITTLE AFFECT AND THE CAR RAPIDLY ACCELERATED OUT OF THE CAR WASH STALL TOWARD A BRICK WALL APPROX. 20 FEET AWAY. I STEERED THE CAR INTO A TREE AS I FELT IT WOULD BE A SOFTER CRASH AS OPPOSED TO A WALL. THE CAR BOUNCED OFF OF THE TREE AND CONTINUED AT FULL THROTTLE INTO THE DRIVEWAY OF THE CAR WASH AS I CONTINUED TO PUSH ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS I COULD. I FINALLY TURNED THE KEY OFF AND STOPPED. THIS HAPPENED VERY QUICKLY AND I WISH I WOULD HAVE REACTED SOONER. THE LEFT FRONT FENDER AND GRILL WERE DAMAGED AND I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. I FEEL FORTUNATE THAT NOBODY WAS HURT AND I AM VERY INTERESTED IN FINDING THE CAUSE OF THIS . *TR
MY 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED WITH 140,000 MILES HAS HAD AIR CONDITIONING PROBLEMS WHERE IT DOESN'T BLOW OUT COLD AIR, FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS. I DIDN'T CARE MUCH ABOUT IT AND DIDN'T PLAN TO FIX IT UNTIL I NOTICED THAT THE HEATING SYSTEM WAS DOING THE SAME THING. THE MIDDLE VENTS BLOW OUT COLD AIR AND THE PASSENGER SIDE VENTS BLOW NORMAL HOT AIR. I LIVE IN A STATE WHERE IT GETS BRUTALLY COLD OUT IN THE WINTER TIME AND OBVIOUSLY THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED FOR COMFORT AND ALSO FOR DEFROST. COME TO FIND OUT THAT THE REPAIR IS VERY COSTLY $8-1800. AND THE MOST HORRIFYING OF ALL IS THAT AFTER THE PROBLEM IS CORRECTED, IT WILL ONLY HAPPEN AGAIN AND YOU WILL BE FORCED TO PAY TO FIX IT ALL OVER AGAIN BECAUSE OF THE PARTS CHRYSLER USES. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO FIX THIS PROBLEM OVER AND OVER AGAIN. THIS CAR DEALER IS WELL AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND IS IGNORING ALL COMPLAINTS AND FORCING CONSUMERS TO PAY FOR THE PROBLEM, WHEN IT IS JUST GOING TO BREAK AGAIN. THIS IS ALMOST CRIMINAL! *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE DRIVER SEAT SUDDENLY BECAME WARM. THE FUSE BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. THE SEAT WARMER NO LONGER FUNCTIONED AT ALL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER IN REFERENCE TO RECALL 09V117000 (SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:SEAT HEATER/COOLER) WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 121,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 127,000.
THE FRAME HOLDING THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS VERY FLIMSY AND HAS BROKEN IN 3 OF 4 PLACES HOLDING THE SEAT. THE 4TH LOCATION HAS NOT YET BROKEN ALL THE WAY THROUGH BUT A CRACK HAS BEGUN. THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFELY DRIVABLE AND IS PARKED UNTIL I CAN FIND REPLACEMENT PARTS. MANY PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THIS SAME PROBLEM. WHY HAS NOTHING BEEN DONE? THE PROBLEM STARTS AS A SQUEAK, THEN A CRACK, THEN THE SEAT IS TILTED AND ULTIMATELY THE BREAKS HAPPEN AT ALL 4 CORNERS OF THE SEAT FRAME. A CRACK AT ALL 4 CORNERS WILL ALLOW THE SEAT, AND THE DRIVER, TO FALL BACK TOO FAR TO REACH THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
I HAVE OWNED A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO FOR 7 YEARS AND IT HAS BEEN A GOOD CAR FOR ME. A YEAR AGO MY FRONT SEAT BROKE OFF OF THE SUPPORT BEAM AND IT IS MADE OF METAL. I ONLY WAY 180 LBS AND HAVE TAKEN PRETTY GOOD CARE OF THE CAR. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE I HAVE COME TO FIND OUT THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO A LOT OF JEEPS AND THEY USED CHEAP METAL TO SAVE MONEY. I WILL BE THE FIRST TO SAY I LOVE JEEP BUT THIS IS DANGEROUS FOR ANYBODY RIDING IN ONE. I ONLY HOPE THEY DO NOT USE THIS METHOD IN NEWER MODELS. I OWN A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO, AND THE DRIVER'S SEAT MOUNT HAS BROKEN, ALLOWING THE SEAT TO BE CONNECTED TO THE FLOORBOARD BY ONLY 2 CORNERS. THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE INCLUDE A NOISE COMING FROM THE SEAT WHILE SEATED IN IT, ESPECIALLY WITH WEIGHT SHIFTS DURING TURNS. THE SEAT IS NOW NOT SUPPORTED ON THE FRONT LEFT CORNER NOR THE BACK RIGHT CORNER. TO ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE FAILURE, I HAD A FRIEND TRY TO GLUE A PLATE ON THE FRONT LEFT CORNER TO HELP STABILIZE IT AGAINST THE FLOORBOARD MOUNT, BUT THE SAME WAS NOT DONE TO THE BACK RIGHT CORNER DUE TO THE PLACEMENT OF IT. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ONLINE INTO THE COST TO FIX THIS ISSUE, AND IT SEEMS IT WILL COST $600-$1000 TO REPLACE THE SEAT AND IT'S MOUNT. THE SEAT NOW TILTS INTO THE MIDDLE, AND THE PRESSURE OF THE SEAT ON THE SEAT BELT RECEIVER HAS NOW DESTROYED THE CENTER CONSOLE ALSO. IT IS ALSO APPARENT THAT THOUSANDS OF OTHER JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS NOT A "NORMAL" REPAIR THAT A CONSUMER SHOULD HAVE TO FACE. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I NOTICED THAT SEAT IN MY JEEP WAS ROCKING TO THE SIDE. CONTINUING DOWN THE ROAD I HEARD A SNAP, SO I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED THAT THE FRONT LEFT AND REAR RIGHT MOUNTS ON MY DRIVER SEAT HAD BROKE. CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR A REPLACEMENT PART, BUT FOR THE TIME BEING I TOOK THE JEEP TO A LOCAL WELDER AND HAD THE WELDER WELD THE BROKEN BRACKETS. WHILE DISCUSSING THE REPAIR THE WELDER INFORMED ME THAT THIS WASNT THE FIRST ONE HE HAS REPAIRED, HE TOO HAD TO WELD SEAT BRACKETS ON HIS JEEP.

2001 JGC DRIVER SEAT IS BROKEN. WHEN I TOOK MY JEEP IN TO HAVE REAR AXLE WORKED ON IT CAME BACK WITH THE DRIVER SEAT ROCKING BACK TO THE RIGHT AND FORWARD TO THE LEFT. THE MECHANIC SAYS HE DIDN'T DO IT BUT THAT THEY EVENTUALLY WEAR OUT LIKE THAT. I DON'T RECALL MY SEAT ROCKING BACK AND FORTH BEFORE I BROUGHT IT TO HIM.
