WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP ON THE HIGHWAY HOME FROM WORK, I EXPERIENCED WHAT I NOW KNOW TO BE CALLED THE "DEATH WOBBLE" AMONG JEEP OWNERS. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, I EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT SHAKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE TIRES VISIBLY WOBBLING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND WHILE BRAKING, ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. WHILE TRYING TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM ON THE SHOULDER IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC IN HOUSTON, I COULDN'T DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. THROUGH ONLINE RESEARCH, THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE WITH THE WEARING OF THE STEERING AND SUSPENSION SYSTEMS. I REVIEWED THE TSB FROM CHRYSLER AND NO MODIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NEW TIRES PUT ON IN NOVEMBER AND ALSO JUST HAD BOTH AN OIL CHANGE AND A TIRE ROTATION TWO DAYS AGO. THIS SHOULD BE A CONCERN THAT CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE AS A FLAW IN THE DESIGN RATHER THAN SIMPLY ISSUING A PSA. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO DETECTED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR THE PART TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.

NUMBER 12V527000 (AIR BAGS) THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER FOR AN APPOINTMENT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE NOT PARTS AVAILABLE TO REMEDY THE RECALL. THREE MONTHS LATER, THE DEALER STILL DID NOT HAVE THE NECESSARY PARTS TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE UNDER THE RECALL. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. A FIRE BEGAN FROM UNDERNEATH THE DRIVER'S SEAT WHICH IS BELIEVED TO BE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. IT DESTROYED THE SEAT AND SURROUNDING AREA. NO ONE WAS IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME. IT APPEARED TO SMOLDER FOR SEVERAL HOURS. THE FIRE WAS DETECTED EARLY ENOUGH SO THAT THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS NOT AFFECTED. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. CONSUMER REQUESTS REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS TO HEATED SEAT ELEMENTS RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE SEAT HEATER WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. HE BECAME AWARE OF THE RECALL AND HAD THE DEALER CHECK, BUT WAS INFORMED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS ONE OF THE FEW THAT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL OF SEATS THAT POSED A DANGER OF CATCHING ON FIRE. THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS LED TO BELIEVE, THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, BECAUSE THE HEATED SEAT ELEMENT POSED NO DANGER OF FIRE. HAVING BEEN LED TO BELIEVE THE PART POSED NO FIRE HAZARD, AND THAT IT MAY HAVE JUST WORN OUT, THE CONSUMER AGREED TO PAY THE COST TO REPLACE THE HEATED SEAT ELEMENT. HOWEVER, WHEN THE ELEMENT WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER, IT WAS DISCOVERED THE PART WAS NOT WORN, BUT CLEARLY DAMAGED BY FIRE.

THE TAIL LIGHTS WERE ALSO REPLACED, BUT THEY STILL DIDN'T WORK.

AT LEFT TURN BEFORE INCOMING CARS BE TOO CLOSE TURNED ACCELERATING . HALF WAY WITH STEERING WHEEL HARDING ,IT SHUTS OFF. I HAD TO PUT ON BRAK AND TURN CAR ON TO BACK CAREFULLY . TURNED IN AND STOPPED TO CHECK . FOR PAST YEAR WITH EVERY SHUT OFF EITHER STARTS OR NOT , I HAD FIXED AT CAR DEALER. HUFFINES IS THE CAR DEALER WITH ALL RECORDS. *TR

I HAVE GONE TO CUTTER DODGE JEEP ON ALA MOANA BLVD. ON OAHU AND NOTIFIED THEM OF MY RECEIVING A RECALL LETTER. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE PARTS ARE ON ORDER AND WILL BE CONTACTING ME WHEN THEY (PARTS) ARRIVE. I WAS CONTACTED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO SERVICE MY JEEP FOR THE RECALL. WHEN I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN FOR THE SERVICE, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE DEALERSHIP GETS AHEAD OF ITSELF AND SENDS OUT CARDS STATING THAT THE PARTS ARE IN WHEN ACTUALLY THEY ARE NOT. WASTED TIME. SO, THEY TOLD ME AGAIN THAT THEY WOULD BE CONTACTING ME WHEN PARTS COME IN. THIS IS MY SECOND NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER NOTIFYING ME OF THE SAME RECALL. I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A CALL OR LETTER FROM CUTTER DODGE JEEP ON ALA MOANA FOR THIS RECALL. I'M PRETTY SURE THAT THIS IS NOT A PART THAT TAKES OVER A YEAR TO MAKE NOR BE SENT OUT TO A DEALERSHIP FOR SOMETHING THAT COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WITHOUT WARNING. I WOULD LIKE TO GET THIS RECTIFIED, PLEASE. IF THERE IS ANOTHER DEALERSHIP THAT CAN TAKE CARE OF THIS FOR ME THEN POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. IN APRIL 2007 I PURCHASED A 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FROM JACKY JONES CHRYSLER IN HAYESVILLE NC, IN JANUARY 2013 I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE M35 CONCERNING THE AIR BAG PROBLEM WAS TO BE REPAIRED, AS OF 1/14/2014 AFTER TRYING TO GET THIS RESOLVED FOR A YEAR, STILL NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE AND I KEEP GETTING A RUNAROUND, CAN YOU HELP ME GET THIS RESOLVED? NOW IT APPEARS A NEW SEAT MAY BE THE RECOURSE AS THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND THERE IS NO RECALL. AS JEEP KNOWS ABOUT THIS THEY SHOULD BE MADE RESPONSIBLE TO PROVIDE A REPLACEMENT TO MAKE IT SAFE. *TR

RECEIVED THE SAFETY RECALL NOTICE M35/NHTSA 12V-527 IN MAIL SHORTLY AFTER. HAVE BEEN CALLING EVERY MONTH TO CHECK AND KEEP GETTING SAME ANSWER THAT IT IS NOT AVAILABLE AND DO NOT KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE. TODAY I RECEIVED ANOTHER SAFETY RECALL NOTICE M35/NHTSA 12V-527. CALLED AGAIN HOPING PART WAS IN. RECEIVED SAME ANSWER FROM DEALER THAT PART WAS NOT IN AND DID NOT KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE AND TO CALL BACK NEXT MONTH. THIS IS COMPLETELY LUDICROUS. HOW CAN A CAR MANUFACTURER NOT HAVE A PART FOR A MAJOR PROBLEM WITHIN A YEARS TIME? PLEASE HELP! NO PROBLEMS YET BUT VERY CONCERNED FOR PERSON DRIVING VEHICLE. I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE IN JANUARY 2013 AND IT HAS YET TO BE RESOLVED NOR HAS THERE BEEN ANY FOLLOW-UP NOTICE. HAD MY JEEP FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS NOW, AND I'VE RECENTLY HAD MANY ISSUES WITH IT. FOR ONE, THERE'S A RECALL, WHICH PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW FOR AN ORC SENSOR. THE RECALL LETTER SAID THERE MAY BE A CHANCE THAT IT COULD CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL DISTRESS ON THE COMPUTER. NOW, I DON'T KNOW IF THESE CAUSED MANY ELECTRICAL ISSUES OR NOT, BUT I'D LIKE TO SEE SOMETHING DONE ABOUT IT. AROUND LATER NOVEMBER 2012 I TOOK THE JEEP TO GET THE AC/HEATER WORK BECAUSE IT WASN'T WORKING. PAID $400.00, LABOR AND PARTS. ALSO GOT MY SIGNAL LIGHTS FIXED, BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T WORKING EITHER. FEW MONTHS PASS, NOW ITS MARCH 2013. THE SIGNAL LIGHTS WORK WHEN THEY WANT, EVEN AFTER GETTING IT FIXED. THE RIGHT SIGNAL LIGHT WORKS FINE, THE LEFT WORKS WHEN IT WANTS. MY DRIVER FOGLIGHT WENT OUT. I DON'T HAVE A BAD BULB SO WHAT IS IT? FEW WEEKS LATER, DRIVER HEADLIGHT GOES OUT. AGAIN, NO BLOWN BULB. FEW MORE WEEKS PASS, AND MY AC/HEATER STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. WHY? I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER CORPORATION IN OCTOBER 2012 REGARDING DEFECTIVE AIRBAG WITH THE POSSIBILITY IT WOULD DEPLOY WITHOUT WARNING. I WAS TOLD MY CAR WOULD BE REPAIRED WHEN THE PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE. IT IS NOW MAY 28, 2013 AND THE PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER AS WELL AS CHRYSLER CORPORATION. IN THE MEANTIME, I AM AFRAID AND UNABLE TO DRIVE THIS CAR FOR FEAR THE AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY. IT HAS NOW BEEN IDLE IN MY DRIVEWAY FOR MORE THAN SEVEN MONTHS. WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNER'S OF OUR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE (2003) AND THE FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT STARTED WOBBLING FROM SIDE TO SIDE, WHICH MAKES DRIVING DISORIENTING PARTICULAR WHEN GOING AROUND CURVES. WHEN TAKEN IN TO THE SHOP WE WERE TOLD THAT THE BRACKETS ATTACHING THE SEAT FRAME HAVE FAILED AND ARE BROKEN AND NEED TO BE WELDED OR NEED A REPLACEMENT SEAT. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE WE FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND REPLACING THE SEAT OR RE-WELDING THE SEAT BRACKETS WILL ONLY RESULT IN THIS HAPPENING AGAIN BECAUSE BRACKETS ARE MADE OF CHEAP METAL. I AM VERY FEARFUL THAT THE SEAT WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT (DUE TO THE DISORIENTED IT CAUSES WHEN DRIVING) OR THAT AN INJURY WILL OCCUR BECAUSE THE SEAT WILL COMPLETELY DETACH IN WHICH CASE THE SEAT BELT IS BASICALLY WORTHLESS IN PREVENTING INJURY DURING AN ACCIDENT. GIVEN THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE THAT CAN BE FOUND IN A BASIC GOOGLE SEARCH IT IS DISGUSTING THAT DAIMLER/CHRYSLER HAS DONE NOTHING TO REMEDY THIS SITUATION. *TR
