TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO TURN ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
WHILE DRIVING WHEEL FALL OFF BECAUSE THE LUGS BROKE OFF THE WHEEL BEARING. *TR
AIR/ DEFROSTER WON'T BLOW OUT ANY AIR AT ALL OR WILL BLOW OUT HOT AIR ON ONE SIDE OF THE JEEP AND COLD AIR OUT THE OTHER SIDE EVEN THOUGH THE SETTINGS ARE THE SAME. THIS WILL HAPPEN ON AND OFF UNTIL IT BREAKS TOTALLY. I HAVE HAD MINE FIXED 3 TIMES 12/29/06, 03/28/07, 06/08/09. YOU CANNOT DEFOG/ DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD PROPERLY AND KEEP IT CLEAR WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING. EACH TIME THE DEALER REPLACED THE FAULTY PART HOUSING A 240213290, ACTUATOR 24029001, HOUSING A 2428025 AND AGAIN HOUSING A 24028025. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THE 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND YOU CAN FIND A LOT OF TALK ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THE CHEAP PLASTIC PARTS THAT ARE USED . YOU CAN FIND AFTER MARKET ALUMINUM PART BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT THE DEALER USES. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A JEEP THAT ONLY HAS 36,000 MILE ON IT..IT'S LIKE ITS USED ALOT. 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, DRIVERS SEAT BROKE A WELD. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND THE WELD JUST BROKE. I HAVEN'T HAD A CHANCE TO GET IT FIXED BECAUSE I CAN'T FIND A USED REPLACEMENT AND DEALERSHIP WANTS OVER $800 TO FIX. I HAVE CHECKED ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND ALMOST 2000 PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS ALL STATING THE SAME THING, JEEP DOESN'T HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS AND THEY CAN'T FIND A REPLACEMENT SEAT USED OR NEW FOR THAT MATTER AND JEEP DEALER WANTS OVER $500 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO READ THAT THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THE SEAT FIXED OR REPLACED THE ISSUE JUST HAPPENS AGAIN. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT BROKE WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHICH THANK GOD DID NOT CAUSE A ACCIDENT TO HAPPEN ONLY BECAUSE I WAS NOT ON A BUSY ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO RECOVER FROM THE INITIAL SHOCK OF THE SEAT BREAKING. I CHECKED UNDER THE SEAT WAS ABLE TO SEE THE METAL BROKE RIGHT AT THE WELD. *TR

WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED, IT WOULD HESITATE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 52,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED. WHILE DRIVING, SHE TURNED ON THE AIR CONDITIONER AND SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARD; NEAR THE AIR VENTS. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000. UPDATED 01/20/10. *LJ THE CONSUMER STATED ONCE SHE PULLED OVER, FIRE BEGAN EMITTING FROM THE PASSENGER FLOORBOARD. A RECALL REGARDING THE HEATED SEATS WAS ISSUED IN 2005 AND 2006. DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BRACKET HAS BROKEN. I HAVE WELDED ONCE AND IT HAS BROKEN AGAIN. I AM NOT A LARGE MAN (ABOUT 185LBS) AND FEEL THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED UNDER NORMAL USE. MANY JEEP OWNERS HAVE COMPLAINTS ON THIS. *TR
STOPPED AT A LIGHT, WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN, ACCERATED, DRIVER SEAT ROCKED BACKWARD AND FELT LOOSE. ON EXAMINATION FRONT LEFT BRACKET ON FRAME HAD BROKEN. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM THIS THIS CAR, SEARCHED ON-LINE TO FIND MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS HAPPENING. HAD IT WELDED. ABOUT 6MOS LATER REAR BRACKET BROKE IN SAME WAY. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS TO THE DRIVER, MUST HOLD ON WHEN SEAT MOVES IN THIS WAY. DON'T KNOW WHY JEEP WILL NOT FIX AT THERE COST. THEY SAY THER IS NO RECALL. THERE SHOULD BE ONE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE CONTACT HAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL FAILURES WITH THE WINDOWS. WHEN PROCEEDING TO ROLL DOWN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW, IT DROPS DOWN INTO THE DOOR JAM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE REGULATOR ASSEMBLY FAILED. THE WINDOW WAS REPAIRED AT THE COST OF $450. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW ALSO DROPPED DOWN INTO THE DOOR JAM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE REGULATOR ASSEMBLY FAILED AGAIN. THE WINDOW WAS REPAIRED AT THE COST OF $106.50. ONE YEAR LATER, WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW DROPPED DOWN INTO THE DOOR JAM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE CONTACT OPENED THE SUNROOF, SHE WAS UNABLE TO CLOSE IT BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE MOTOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 239 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,230.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS IS LOCATED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR, BUT THE HARNESS IS TOO SMALL TO SUSTAIN ALL THE WIRES. WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED, THE WIRES COME OUT OF THE HARNESS AND BREAK, WHICH CAUSES THE LOCKS AND INTERIOR LIGHTING TO FAIL. THE INTERIOR LIGHTING REMAINS ILLUMINATED. IF THE CONTACT TURNS OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTING WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, SHE IS UNABLE TO SEE THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL. THE REPAIR WOULD COST $400. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WILL NOT CHARGE HER THE TOTAL COST FOR THE REPAIR. THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE WIRES AND HARNESS AT THE COST OF $100. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2004 ACCELERATED WHEN I BRAKED IN THE PARKING LOT. THE JEEP ACCELERATED AND LURCHED INTO A FENCE AND INTO THE YARD ON THE OTHER SIDE, WHEN MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. THE CAR WAS OUT OF CONTROL AND STOPPED WHEN IT HIT A STUMP IN THE YARD. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE DEALER FROM WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH ANY REPAIRS. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN. MY HUSBAND FORGOT HIS KEYS SO I SHIFTED TO PARK AND EXITED THE VEHICLE AND LEFT IT RUNNING BECAUSE I WAS ONLY GOING TO BE OUT A FEW SECONDS. I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND IT SHIFTED TO INTO GEAR AND TOOK OFF KNOCKING ME DOWN AND RUNNING OVER ME BEFORE HITTING A TRUCK THAT STOPPED IT. I WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR THREE DAYS WITH MY INJURIES. *TR
I OWN A 2004 JEEP CHEROKEE WHICH HAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WHERE THE POWER WINDOWS, DOOR LOCKS AND EVERYTHING ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR CONTROL PANEL DO NOT WORK AS WELL AS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS DO NOT TURN OFF, ALL CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE.I FOUND OUT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH JEEP CHEROKEES DUE TO THE WIRING INSIDE THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. I HAD THIS ISSUE IN 2009 AFTER AT ABOUT 46,000 MILES. WHEN CALLING THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THE DEALERSHIP GIVE ME AN EXACT PRICE OVER THE PHONE AS THEY KNEW OF THIS ISSUE. SINCE THE DEALERSHIP WAS VERY RUDE AND PRICE WAS VERY HIGH.I HAD THE REPAIRS DONE AT A HIGHLY REGARDED REPAIR SHOP WHICH SPECIALIZES IN ELECTRICAL WORK WHICH COST $201 BUT NOW (AT 80,000 MILES) THE EXACT SAME ISSUE HAS HAPPENED AGAIN DUE TO THE OPENING AND CLOSING OF THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. THE WIRING HARNESS IS LOCATED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR, BUT THE HARNESS IS TOO SMALL TO SUSTAIN ALL OF THE WIRES. WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED, THE WIRES COME OUT OF THE HARNESS AND BREAK, WHICH CAUSES EVERYTHING ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR PANEL NOT TO WORK. THIS INCLUDES THE POWER WINDOWS, DOOR LOCKS, INTERIOR LIGHTS AND POWER MIRRORS ALL OF WHICH CAUSE A SAFETY HAZARD. I BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR JEEP THAT THEY SHOULD FIX FREE OF CHARGE ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. I FEEL THAT IT'S VERY RECKLESS OF JEEP TO NOT RECALL THIS KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE AND ALLOW THEIR CUSTOMERS TO DRIVE WITH WINDOWS AND DOOR LOCKS THAT TO NOT WORK OR INTERIOR LIGHTS THAT DO NOT TURN OFF. IN ORDER TO TURN OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS I HAD TO REMOVE THE FUSE WHICH CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS AT NIGHT AND MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT SEE ANY OF THE INSTRUMENTS. THIS CAR IS USED BY MY HANDICAPPED WIFE AND DUE TO THIS ISSUE I WILL NOT LET HER DRIVE AT NIGHT AS I FEEL THIS CAR IS VERY UNSAFE IN IT'S CURRENT STATE. *TR ...VIDEO AVAILABLE

THE SEAT COULD HAVE COMPLETELY FAILED WHILE DRIVING, THUS INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. THE DEALER STATED THAT HE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THE SEAT FRAME. THE REPAIR WOULD COST $600. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 109,000.
IN COLD WEATHER,WHILE USING THE WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER,THE HOT AIR NEEDED TO KEEP FROST OFF WINDSHIELD SUDDENLY CHANGES TO COLD AIR ON ITS OWN. THIS IS VERY AGGRAVATING, AND POSES A GREAT DANGER IN NOT KEEPING THE WINDSHIELD CLEAR. THIS HAPPENS VERY FREQUENTLY. THE DEALERSHIP CAN MAKE A REPAIR, BUT THE COST IS PROHIBITIVE. *TR
I HAVE A DIGITAL DUAL CLIMATE ZONE IN MY VEHICLE. RECENTLY THE HEAT STARTED TO WORK ONLY ON ONE SIDE (DRIVERS) AND NOT THE PASSENGERS. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, IT LOOKS LIKE THERE IS SYSTEMIC PROBLEM WITH THE MECHANICAL RECIRCULATION AND VENTILATION DOORS FOR THE HEATING/COOLING SYSTEM AS I FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE WITH MANY WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. IN ADDITION, I CALLED A DEALERSHIP WITH THE PROBLEM CODES THAT I GOT FROM RUNNING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST VIA THE HEATING/COOLING CONTROL PANEL AND THE DEALERSHIP ALSO TOLD ME THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE AND THAT IT WOULD COST A MINIMUM OF $800 TO FIX. THE PRICE TO REPAIR WAS CONSISTENT WITH WHAT OTHERS WERE SAYING DURING MY RESEARCH. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IF I HAVE NOT HEAT I CAN NOT DEFROST MY WINDOWS IN THE WINTER. *TR
HVAC AUTO TEMPERATURE SYSTEM FAILS TO MAINTAIN/SUSTAIN HEAT/COLD. OCCURS CONSTANTLY WHEN DRIVEN. FAILS TO KEEP WINDSHIELD FREE OF FOG/ICE WHICH IMPAIRS VISION. NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
3RD FAILURE OF CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM INSIDE VEHICLE CONTROLLING A/C, HEAT, VENTS, ETC. HAVE PAID A TOTAL OF $3119 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED WITH NEW OEM CHRYSLER REPLACEMENT PARTS BY CERTIFIED MECHANICS. THE SAME FAILURE CONTINUES TO OCCUR WHERE THE CLIMATE CONTROL "BLEND DOORS" BREAK IN THEIR PLASTIC HOUSING CAUSING THE DOORS TO MOVE INDEPENDENT OF THE COMPUTER CONTROL SIGNALS. IN THE WINTER, COLD AIR WILL BLOW REGARDLESS OF SETTING, AND IN THE SUMMER HOT AIR BLOWS - ALSO REGARDLESS OF SETTING. THIS LATEST FAILURE OCCURRED OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY. IT WAS ALREADY FIXED ONCE WITHIN WARRANTY PERIOD BEFORE 2 SUBSEQUENT FAILURES. DEALER REPS INFORMED ME THAT 80+% OF VEHICLES WITH DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL OPTION HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE OWNED A 2000 AND 2005 GRAND CHEROKEES AND HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE WITH BOTH VEHICLES. *TR
MY WIFE WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT WHEN OUR 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO'S ENGINE SUDDENLY RACED AND THEN THE JEEP LEAPT FORWARD WITH GREAT FORCE AS SHE BRAKED. NO MORE THAT 3 FEET AWAY WAS A CONCRETE PLANTER THAT STOPPED THE JEEP. NO AMOUNT OF PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD STOP THIS RAPID ACCELERATION. THERE WAS $4208 IN DAMAGES TO THE JEEP. *TR

WHEN SHE TURNED OFF THE LIGHTS, ALL OF THE ILLUMINATED EQUIPMENT FAILED, INCLUDING THE POWER WINDOWS AND LOCKS. THE FAILURE PREVENTS THE CONTACT FROM VIEWING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, WHICH MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO VIEW THE SPEEDOMETER AND FUEL GAUGE WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT NO COMPENSATION WOULD BE OFFERED BECAUSE THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TORQUE CONVERTER WORE OUT OR WENT OUT CAUSING TRANSMISSION DAMAGE. NOTICED VEHICLE STALLED AND JERKED WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AFTER SLOWING DOWN AND/OR STOPPING. INITIAL THOUGHT VEHICLE NEEDED A TUNE-UP, BUT PROBLEM EXISTED AFTERWARDS. TORQUE CONVERTER WARPAGE CAUSED TRANSMISSION FLUID TO LEAK WHICH LEAD TO DAMAGES TO TRANSMISSION. ADDED TRANSMISSION FLUID AT ONE POINT , RAN WELL FOR A WHILE THEN PROBLEM RETURNED. VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE CONTACT SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING AND ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOW. HE NOTICED THAT THE ODOR WAS NOT COMING FROM OUTSIDE OF HIS VEHICLE, SO HE CONTINUED TO DRIVE. APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS LATER, HE FELT A BURNING SENSATION ON HIS LOWER BACK. HE PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND OBSERVED A HOLE IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT SURROUNDED BY AN ORANGE RING. THERE WAS A CHARRED MARK ON HIS LEATHER BELT AND THE SEAT WAS SMOKING. THE EVENT OCCURRED AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. MY REAR VIEW MIRROR WAS OUT OF VIEW AND I WENT TO ADJUST IT. I REMEMBERED THE WINDOW MOTOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE HAD A SHORT SO I WENT TO ADJUST IT MANUALLY. AS I PUT SLIGHT PRESSURE ON THE MIRROR THE WHOLE THING FOLDED BACK. I FIGURED IT WAS OKAY SEEING AS THEY WERE DESIGNED TO FOLD BACK, BUT WHEN I PUT THEM BACK IN PLACE, THEY DID NOT STAY. NOW, AS I DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD, THE MIRRORS FOLD THEMSELVES IN WITHOUT WARNING AND IT IS MAKING ME VERY WORRIED THAT I CANNOT SEE OUT OF MY MIRROR. *TR

I LIFTED THE HOOD TO CHECK THE WASHER FLUID LEVEL. AS I TURNED TO PICK UP THE REFILL BOTTLE TO FILL THE CAR'S WASHER BOTTLE THE HOOD FELL ON ITS OWN. HAD MY HANDS OR HEAD STILL BEEN UNDER THE HOOD I WOULD HAVE SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT INJURIES. THE HOOD STRUTS NOW FAIL EVERY TIME AND I HAVE TO USE A STICK TO HOLD THE HOOD UP. I WENT TO ACTION MOTORS (JEEP DEALERSHIP IN DANBURY, CT) ON 1/2/09 AND DISCUSSED WITH SERVICE MANAGERS. THEY SAID FAILURE OF THE HOOD STRUTS IS EXPECTED AND IS COMMON - ESPECIALLY IN COLD WEATHER. IN FACT, THEY TOLD ME THEIR SERVICE POLICY FOR ALL MECHANICS IS TO INSTALL A VICE GRIP ON ALL GRAND CHEROKEES HOOD STRUTS BEFORE ANY WORK BEGINS -- EVEN IF THE OWNER HAS NOT REPORTED THIS ISSUE. FAILURES OCCURRED TOO OFTEN TO ALLOW THEIR PEOPLE TO WORK UNDER THE HOOD WITHOUT THE VICE GRIP IN PLACE. WHILE THEY MAY HAVE ADVANCE KNOWLEDGE OF THIS HAZARDOUS ISSUE, MOST CAR OWNERS DO NOT. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 92,000.

ABOUT 3,000 MILES AGO THE BRAKES BEGAN TO PULSE WHEN APPLIED DURING HIGHWAY TRIPS. THIS GREW WORSE AS TIME WENT ON. NOW THEY PULSE EVEN IN THE COLD WEATHER IN DECEMBER IN CT DURING SHORT TRIPS (2-3 MILES). WHEN THEY PULSE, THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES BADLY (AS DOES THE WHOLE VEHICLE) ESPECIALLY AT HIGHER SPEEDS AND ON LONGER TRIPS. I WILL NO LONGER ALLOW MY WIFE TO DRIVE IT ON HIGHWAYS. TODAY I WENT TO ACTION MOTORS (JEEP DEALERSHIP IN DANBURY, CT) AND DISCUSSED THE ISSUE WITH TWO SERVICE MANAGERS. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS "NORMAL" AND THAT WHEN BRAKES GET "HOT' THEY OVERHEAT THE ROTORS AND THE ROTORS WARP. ACTION MOTORS WANTED TO REPLACE THE ROTORS AT MY COST. THEY SAID THERE WAS NO JEEP RECALL ON THE ISSUE. I MENTIONED THAT THIS WAS THE IDENTICAL ISSUE THAT JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES HAD IN 1999 THROUGH 2003 AND WHY DID I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DEFECTIVE DESIGN (DOES JEEP NOT REALIZE THAT BRAKES GET HOT WHEN THEY ARE USED). THEY TOLD ME THE ONLY REASON THAT JEEP OFFERED FREE REPAIR TO THOSE MODEL YEARS WAS THAT IT WAS A RESULT OF A "LAW SUIT" AGAINST JEEP. THEY ALSO TRIED TO CONVINCE ME THAT THIS WAS NORMAL ON ALL MAKES OF CARS AND TO EXPECT IT. I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS IN MY MANY YEARS OF DRIVING AND NONE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE UNDER ANY CONDITIONS OR ANY MILEAGE. SEEMS SOMEONE OR MANY MUST DIE BEFORE JEEP ACCEPTS RESPONSIBILITY. I DO NOT WISH TO HAVE JEEP REPAIR MY BRAKES AT MY COST. I NO LONGER TRUST THEIR INTENTIONS OR THEIR COMMITMENT TO SAFETY. ON ARE 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND WITH AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL THE BLEND DOORS HAVE FAILED AND THIS CAUSES THE HVAC UNIT TO EITHER BLOW HOT OR COLD WHEN TURNED ON BUT YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OF IT. WE HAVE HAD THE A/C KICK ON WHEN UNIT WAS SET TO HEAT/DEFROST IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER AND THIS CAUSES A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE WINDSHIELD WILL START ICING UP OR FOGGING UP IF IT'S NOT REAL COLD OUT AND AS MY WIFE DRIVES THIS VEHICLE DAILY I WANT HER IN A SAFE VEHICLE. WE HAVE ALSO HAD THE HEATER KICK ON WHEN USING THE A/C AND ALL YOU CAN DO IS TURN THE HVAC UNIT OFF AND ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS. FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD ALL GRAND CHEROKEE'S HAVE THIS PROBLEM JUST AT DIFFERENT INTERVALS. I KNOW SOME PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD MULTIPLE FAILURES OF THIS PART. TO GET THE REPAIRS DONE AT A DEALER WE WERE QUOTED $950 TO FIX IT BUT I BELIEVE JEEP SHOULD BE LOOKING INTO THIS AS IT IS SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM AND IT CAUSES A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE DURING THE WINTER MONTHS IF AND WHEN THE HEATER/DEFROSTER QUITS WORKING. WHEN THE HVAC SYSTEM GETS STUCK THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO FIX IT SOMETIMES IT WILL STICK FOR A FEW HOURS OTHER TIMES IT WILL NOT WORK FOR A DAY OR TWO. *TR
