HEAT AND AIR CONDITIONING DIED IN MY 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND, IT ONLY HAS 60,000 MILES ON IT AND I DID SOME SEARCHING ONLINE AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE 99-04 GRAND CHEROKEES. I LIVE IN A COLD WEATHER REGION AND CANNOT DEFROST MY WINDSHIELD MAKING IT QUITE DANGEROUS. IT WILL COST $1,200 TO FIX IT AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY THAT. CHRYSLER IS SAYING IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX. BUT THE PROBLEM LIES WITH THE BLENDER ACTUATOR DOORS BEING TOO CHEAP WHEN BUILT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEATER BLOWS COLD AIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY CHARGED $97 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC, BUT COULD NOT LOCATE A FAILURE CODE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AAMCO AND THEY CHANGED A HOSE AND CLEANED THE VENTS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC, WHO REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT AND STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL MAIN CIRCUIT BOARD FAILED. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND ASSIGNED REFERENCE NUMBER 18091070. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE MILEAGE EXCEEDED THE WARRANTY; THEREFORE, THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 83,000. UPDATED 12/22/08. *LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE HEAT DIDN'T WORK, BUT THE THERMOSTAT WOULD GET WARM. THE BLEND DOOR IS BROKEN AND BLOWS COLD AIR. WINDOW DOES NOT DEFROST AND CAN'T SEE WELL IN WINTER. *TR
HAD THE DEFROSTER ON. TRIED TO TURN THE BLOWER TO THE VENT POSITION WHILE FAN WAS OFF AND NOTHING CAME OUT. THE DEFROSTER STILL WORKS AND THE FAN SEEMS TO BE BLOWING, BUT FOR SOME REASON, NO AIR FROM FRONT(OUTWARD FACING) PART OF DASH BOARD. HAD SOME KNOWLEDGE OF FAILURE IN THE AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL VERSION, BUT SPECIFICALLY FOUND JEEP WITH MANUAL CLIMATE CONTROLS TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM. *TR
BROKEN BLEND DOORS CAUSING NO HEAT FOR THE WINTER ON A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. *TR
FAILURE OF CLIMATE CONTROL "BLEND DOOR MECHANISM. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES TO THIS VEHICLE. WHEN IT FAILS, YOU CANNOT CONTROL THE A/C OR HEAT ON EACH SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I REPAIRED ON BOTH OCCASIONS AT A COST OF $900 AND $700 RESPECTIVELY. THE VEHICLE IS NOW BROKEN AGAIN, WHICH WILL COST ANOTHER $900-1200 TO REPAIR FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THIS IS VERY COMMON IN THIS MODEL. OBVIOUSLY A CASE OF AN INFERIOR PRODUCT OR INPUT FOR THIS COMPONENT. I HAVE CONTACTED JEEP /CHRYSLER AND THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING. *TR
FRONT ROTORS ARE WARPED I HAVE HAD TO GET THEM REPLACED OR RESURFACED EVERY 8,000 MILES THIS IS A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. I FIND THAT THE BRAKES START TO PULSATE EVERY TIME ITS TIME TO REPLACE OR RESURFACE ROTORS . I HAVE TO PAY OUT MONEY EACH TIME THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS CAN SOME ONE TELL ME IF CHRYSLER HAS A PERMANENT FIX FOR THIS PLEASE HELP *TR
DRIVER SIDE SEAT FRAME CRACKED IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS. NOW ACTS LIKE ROCKING CHAIR WHILE DRIVING. NO SUPPORT, VERY UNSAFE. *TT
DEFROSTER ON MY 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ONLY BLOWS COLD AIR. *TR
IN APRIL OR MAY OF THIS YEAR, THE DRIVER-DOOR WINDOW OF OUR JEEP SLID INTO THE BODY OF THE DOOR ON IT'S OWN--THIS WAS WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED ON THE STREET. WE WERE LUCKY TO CATCH IT BEFORE SOMEONE STOLE ALL OF OUR ITEMS IN THE CAR. A REPAIRMAN TOLD US THAT THE CABLE/REGULATOR IS BROKEN AND THAT IT IS VERY COMMON WITH JEEPS. WE COULDN'T AFFORD THE $250-300 PART, SO WE SIMPLY SCREWED THE WINDOW IN PLACE, TEMPORARILY. THIS PAST WEEKEND WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH OUR PASSENGER WINDOW DID THE SAME THING. IT WAS LATE FRIDAY NIGHT SO ALL WE COULD DO IS DUCT-TAPE THE WINDOW IN PLACE. WE CALLED CHRYSLER/JEEP TO SEE IF THERE IS ANY RECALL, AND THEY WERE COMPLETELY UNHELPFUL. THEY SIMPLY TOLD US TO GET A $200 DIAGNOSIS FROM A JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEN THEY WOULD DECIDE IF CHRYSLER/JEEP WOULD ASSIST IN THE COST. WE VISITED MANY CONSUMER WEBSITES AND FOUND THOUSANDS (NO EXAGGERATION) OF COMPLAINTS OF THE VERY SAME PROBLEM. THOSE WHO ENDED UP GETTING A DIAGNOSIS WITH A DEALERSHIP NEVER ENDED UP BEING REFUNDED BY CHRYSLER/JEEP. IN THE END, THEY SIMPLY PAID CHRYSLER/JEEP MORE MONEY HAVING GONE THROUGH THEIR SUGGESTED PROCESS. THIS IS CLEARLY AND FAULTY PART AND CHRYSLER/JEEP'S REFUSAL TO RECALL OR REIMBURSE ITS CUSTOMERS IS ALARMING. THE PARTS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE AND WITH SO MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME NATURE WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY CHRYSLER/JEEP MORE MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS CLEARLY THEIR PROBLEM. WEATHER HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FAILURE OF THE PART(S)--THEY SIMPLY BREAK WITHOUT WARNING. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE ABOUT THIS. BOTH OF OUR WINDOWS ARE CURRENTLY BEING HELD INTO PLACE BY SCREW OR TAPE AS WE CONSIDER OUR OPTIONS. WE DO NOT TRUST CHRYSLER/JEEP AND BELIEVE THAT EVEN IF WE GO TO A DEALERSHIP WE WILL END UP PAYING FOR THE REPAIR ALL ON OUR OWN. IT IS A CONSIDERABLE EXPENSE FOR A COMMON DEFAULT AND HAS GIVEN US A GREAT DEAL OF STRESS. CHRYSLER/JEEP REPRESENTATIVES HAVE BEEN UNSYMPATHETIC, AMBIGUOUS, AND UNTRUSTWORTHY. PLEASE HELP! *TR
AFTER LOSING POWER STEERING VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH A GUARD RAIL. AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY IN THE FRONTAL/SIDE COLLISION PRIOR TO A HEAD ON COLLISION INTO A MEDIAN/DITCH AND A ROLL OVER IN A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED SO NOTHING WAS DONE TO REPAIR. CONSEQUENCES WERE A TOTALED VEHICLE, LOSS OF PERSONAL PROPERTY AND SEVERE BODILY DAMAGE TO DRIVER RESULTING IN BRAIN CONTUSIONS AND HEMATOMAS, A 7 IN GASH ON FOREHEAD AND NECK SURGERY TO CORRECT TWO DISC THAT WERE CRUSHING SPINAL CORD INTO A "Z" SHAPE> *TR
2004 JEEP GR CHEROKEE STALLS BRIEFLY, INITIALLY ABOVE 60 MPH BUT BECOMING MORE FREQUENT AND NOW FROM 40 MPH. DEALER (MOOTHART JEEP/CERRITOS DODGE) HAS INSPECTED BUT FINDS NO "FAULT CODES" AND AS A RESULT TAKES NO ACTION. THEY AND CHRYSLER 800 LINE'S ANSWER IS 'WAIT FOR IT TO QUIT COMPLETELY AND TOW IT IN". GOING ON FOR FOUR PLUS MONTHS WITH NO ANSWER IN SIGHT. *TR
MY 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED WITH THE AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM, BLOWS COLD AIR OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR VENTS EVEN WHEN SET TO HEAT. THIS IS A CURRENT AND ONGOING PROBLEM, IT OCCURS WHENEVER THE HEAT IS NEEDED. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM, WAITING FOR A RECALL. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT REQUIRES INCREASED STEERING EFFORT WHEN TURNING THE STEERING COLUMN, WHICH INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH.HE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER IN REFERENCE TO RECALL# 03V079000 (STEERING:GEAR BOX (OTHER THAN RACK AND PINION)). UPON CONTACT A REPRESENTATIVE ADVISED HIM THAT BECAUSE HIS VIN NUMBER WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE VIN RANGE, THEY WOULD NOT ASSUME ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIRS. AS OF CURRENT DATE THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHEN BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP, THE RPM'S DROPPED BELOW 5 MPH. THE VEHICLE ALSO BEGAN SHAKING AND SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY RESTARTS, BUT IF THE CONTACT DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATE, IT WILL STALL AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER ON THREE OCCASIONS AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,200. UPDATED 10/14/08. *LJ THE DEALER STATED IDLE AIR CONTROL MOTOR WAS BAD, HOWEVER THE CONSUMER CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE STALLING PROBLEMS. THE CONSUMER NO LONGER OWNS THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 10/15/08. *JB

ON A COLD RAINY NIGHT IN UP-STATE NY THERE WAS NO HEAT IN THE CAR AND THE WINDOWS FOGGED UP SO BAD THAT I HAD TO STOP DUE TO THE DANGER OF NOT SEEING THE ROAD. THE FAILURE IS CONSISTANT AND CAUSES FOGGED WINDOWS AND THE AUTO CAN'T BE USED DURING VERY COLD WEATHER. THE BLEND DOORS WERE BROKEN . *TR
ON 12/23/06 (MILEAGE 11,948) MY VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT (MIL) HAD ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED ON AFTER SEVERAL NORMAL DRIVING CYCLES. THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) WAS P0455 - LARGE LEAK FROM THE EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM. A LEAK WAS FOUND AT THE FUEL PUMP SEAL AND WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BY THE DEALER. ON 8/19/08 (MILEAGE 21,351) THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN RETURNED TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE MIL WAS ON. THIS TIME THE DTC WAS P0456 - SMALL LEAK FROM THE EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM. A LEAK FROM A VAPOR HOSE WAS THE CAUSE THIS TIME. SINCE THIS EMISSION COMPONENT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY THE REPAIR COST OF $293.75. I BELIEVE THE EMISSION SYSTEM COMPONENTS ON THESE VEHICLES ARE WEAK. THESE EVAPORATIVE LEAKS PRESENT A DANGER TO THE VEHICLE OPERATORS (ESCAPING GAS FUMES) AND THE ENVIRONMENT. IN ADDITION, THE DEALERSHIPS ARE PROFITING BY REPAIRING THESE WEAK COMPONENTS AT THE OWNERS' EXPENSE. A CO-WORKER HAS A 2002 GRAND CHEROKEE AND THE MIL COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND THE CAUSE HAS YET TO BE DISCOVERED. UNFORTUNATELY MY CO-WORKER'S VEHICLE CANNOT PASS INSPECTION WITH THE LIGHT ON AND THE DEALER CANNOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ROLL DOWN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW, THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE AND THE WINDOW FELL OFF TRACK INTO THE DOOR. THE CONTACT IS UNABLE TO ROLL UP THE WINDOW. HE CALLED A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR AN ESTIMATE TO REPAIR THE WINDOW. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED AND THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 71,000.
FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS "AIR BAG" LIGHT COMES "ON" AND REMAINS AND GOES 'OFF' INTERMITTENTLY. I TOOK THE CAR TO PERKINS EASTSIDE, CRESTWOOD, KY-502-241-3042. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE "EVENT" OF "AIR BAG ON" IS NOT BEING RECORDED BY THE COMPUTER AND THEY CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. TODAY, I WENT TO THE DEALER WHILE THE LIGHT IS "ON" AND STILL COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAG CONTROLLER MODULE IS FAULTY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I AM AFRAID THAT THE AIR BAG WONT DEPLOY IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. I NEED YOUR HELP SO THAT THE CORPORATION REPLACES THE COMPUTER MODULE WITHOUT ANY CHARGE TO ME, BECAUSE IT IS AN ISSUE OF SAFETY AND PUBLIC GOOD. *TR

WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL IN RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS TO PREPARE FOR AN EMERGENCY STOP, AND THE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP AND THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ALSO APPEARED TO EXPERIENCE A MILD INCREASE IN SPEED INSTEAD OF THE ABS UNIT ACTIVATING. DURING THE FAILURE, SHE CONCLUDED THAT WHEN THE ABS ACTIVATED, IT MALFUNCTIONED AND PREVENTED HER FROM COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CONTACT HAS A COPY OF THE POLICE REPORT AND PICTURES OF THE INCIDENT. SHE IS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. SHE IS ALSO IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 84,000.
I HAVE TO REPLACE MY ROTORS EVERY 6 MONTHS TO A YEAR.AND ALSO REPLACE THE BRAKES WHY DO THEY FAIL SO OFEN
I WAS JUST RIDING DOWN THE ROAD ONE DAY AND MY AIR CONDITIONER QUIT WORKING. I RAN THE TEST ON THE JEEP AND IT GAVE ME CODES DEALING WITH THE BLEND DOORS STAYING OPEN. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. *TR

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED CUTS AND BRUISES, BUT NO MAJOR INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. SHE BELIEVES THAT HAD THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, SHE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN INJURED. 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, 4.0 LITRE ENGINE, 4 WHEEL DRIVE. DEFROSTER/HEATER BLENDER DOOR GETS STUCK. ONLY BLOWS AIR FROM THE DEFROST VENT. VERY BAD WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO AIR CONDITION THE VEHICLE AND YOU LIVE IN THE DESERT AS I DO. HAPPENS A COUPLE TIMES A WEEK. NOTHING TO DO BUT LET IT GO. JEEP ACCIDENT AS RESULT OF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION: I DROVE UP DRIVEWAY TO PUT 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND IN GARAGE (NORMAL DAILY ACTIVITY). ELECTRICITY WAS OUT FROM A STORM SO THE AUTOMATIC GARAGE DOOR OPENER DID NOT OPERATE. I PARKED IN FRONT OF THE BAY, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND OPENED THE GARAGE DOOR MANUALLY. I GOT BACK IN THE VEHICLE, STARTED THE ENGINE, PUT IT IN DRIVE AND STARTED SLOWLY INTO THE GARAGE. I WANTED TO REPOSITION THE CAR, SO I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND WAS ABOUT TO PUT IT IN REVERSE WHEN, SUDDENLY, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE CAR SHOT FORWARD LIKE A TORPEDO. I HAD MY FOOT PLASTERED ON THE BRAKE BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP AND PLOWED INTO A GARDEN TRACTOR AT THE BACK OF THE GARAGE. I TRIED TO PUT IT IN PARK TO STOP IT, BUT WITH THE ENGINE STILL REVVING, THE CAR SHOT BACKWARDS OUT OF THE GARAGE, ACROSS 37 FEET OF DRIVEWAY, CLIMBED OVER A LOW STONE WALL AND WENT ANOTHER 2 FEET BEFORE SLAMMING INTO THE FIELDSTONE BAY WINDOW OF OUR HOUSE, FINALLY STOPPING. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED WITHIN SECONDS. THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE CAR IN EITHER DIRECTION, AND IT ACCELERATED AT A FRIGHTENING SPEED. WHEN THE CAR SPED FORWARD, IT DESTROYED THE TRACTOR AND THREW IT INTO ANOTHER CAR PARKED IN THE GARAGE. IT ALSO CRACKED THE BACK BLOCK WALL OF THE GARAGE AND DID OTHER PROPERTY DAMAGE. WHEN IT WENT BACKWARDS, IT HIT THE HOUSE SO HARD THAT IT BOWED THE FIELDSTONE FRONT OF THE HOUSE, SPLIT DRYWALL, DAMAGED STUDS, ETC. MY HUSBAND GOT IN THE VEHICLE TO MOVE IT, USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP IT. HE SAID THE BRAKES WERE VERY SPONGY AND CLOSE TO THE FLOOR. THE NEXT MORNING, PEDAL PRESSURE WAS BETTER AND BY TWO DAYS LATER, THE PEDAL PRESSURE HAD IMPROVED EVEN MORE. TOTAL DAMAGE IS STILL BEING COMPUTED, BUT THE JEEP HAS BEEN TOTALED, THE OTHER CAR IN THE GARAGE SUSTAINED $2,000 IN DAMAGES AND OTHER DAMAGE TO THE GARAGE, HOUSE AND PROPERTY IS WELL IN EXCESS OF $20,000. *TR

WHEN THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW BEGAN EXHIBITING THE SAME FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD THE WINDOW SEALED TO PREVENT IT FROM OPENING. ON EACH OCCASION, THE WINDOW GRADUALLY LOWERED AND WOULD NOT STOP. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 79,253 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
I HAVE ON TWO OCCASIONS HAD MY DOOR LOCKS AND WINDOWS STOP OPERATING. THE FIRST TIME A WIRE WAS FOUND TO HAVE CRACKED IN HALF INSIDE A PROTECTED AREA OF THE DRIVERS DOOR. THIS COST $300.00. I BECAME SUCH A HEADACHE TO THE CHRYSLER CORP. THEY REFUNDED ME $250.00. THE SECOND TIME WE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM THE DEALER FOUND THE SAME WIRE IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION UNDER THE GLOVE BOX HAD JUST BROKEN IN TWO. THIS COST ME AGAIN AND CHRYSLER WOULD NOT HELP. I HAVE SEEN THIS SAME COMPLAINT ON THIS SAME VEHICLE ON THIS SITE. THERE IS A PROBLEM THAT MUST BE STUDIED BECAUSE OF THE POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD. ANOTHER PROBLEM WE HAVE HAD IS AN INTENSE GAS ODOR TOWARDS THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN CHECKED MANY TIMES AN NO ONE CAN FIND THE PROBLEM, THE ODOR IS VERY INTENSE AT TIMES. *TR
DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BRACKET BROKEN ON MY 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, IT SEEMS THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GRAND CHEROKEES. THERE IS A STEEL TUBE THAT GOES FROM SIDE TO SIDE THAT IS ENTIRELY TOO THIN AND IT SHEARS OFF AT THE BRACKET. IT WAS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT, IT JUST BREAKS FROM NORMAL USE, WHICH FOR A SEAT BRACKET, SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. I FIXED IT ONCE LAST SUMMER AND NOW ANOTHER PART IS BROKEN. THE SEAT IS NOW BASICALLY A ROCKING CHAIR AND IF I WERE TO GET IN A CRASH, THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT THE BRACKET WOULD FAIL FURTHER AND POSSIBLY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY. *TR

THE HEATING/COOLING SYSTEM IS DYSFUNCTIONAL AND HAS NOT WORKED CORRECTLY SINCE PURCHASE IN 2004, BUT IS WORSE NOW THAN PREVIOUSLY. UNABLE TO SET AT ONE TEMPERATURE AND HAVE UNIFORM HEAT/COOLING (DEPENDING ON SEASON). IT WILL BLOW REALLY HOT, THEN COOL, THEN NOT AT ALL ON ONE SIDE AND THE OTHER SIDE IS TOTALLY NOT INSYNC WITH THE DRIVER'S SIDE (THERE ARE DUAL CONTROLS). TODAY, DRIVING IN 50F WEATHER, CONTROL SET TO 71F AND THE AIR CONDITIONER CAME ON DRIVER'S SIDE, NOTHING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE BLEND DOORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED IN JANUARY AND THE WATER PUMP WITH THERMOSTAT HAVE BEEN REPLACED IN MARCH, AND IT STILL DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. AT TIMES IT BECOMES VERY HOT AND SMELLS HOT. AT OTHER TIMES IT IS FREEZING COLD--THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ANY IN BETWEEN.. AT THE TIME OF THE INITIAL SERVICE THE MILEAGE WAS 52000, THE SECOND TIME IT WAS 55000 AND NOW AM AT 59000+. WHILE ON THE WEBSITE OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH AUTOMATIC ACCELERATION ON THE 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO WHICH I OWN AND HAVE EXPERIENCE THIS HAPPENING LUCKILY I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN IN CONTROL OF THE SITUATION, AND FREQUENT STALLING. THESE RIMS ARE EXPANDING AT THE MAG PART OF THE WHEEL & SEPARATING FROM THE RIM. THIS IS MY WIFE'S CAR AND I MIGHT NOT BE AROUND IF THEY FAIL & CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND RECENTLY I HAD A FAILURE OF THE SEAT BELT, IN THAT IT LOCKED BACK IN THE FULLY RETRACTED POSITION. FOLLOWING IS A DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENTS, I CAME TO A RED LIGHT AND PUT THE BRAKES ON AND THE SEAT BELT TIGHTENED UP AGAINST MY CHEST, I THEN LEANED BACK TO RELIEVE THE TENSION AND THE BELT STAYED TIGHT AGAINST MY CHEST, SO I UNBUCKLED THE SEAT BELT AND LEFT IT RETRACT TO RELIEVE THE TENSION AND THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT EXTEND AFTER THAT, PUTTING ME IN A POSITION OF NOT HAVING A SEAT BELT FOR PROTECTION. I HAVE SINCE HAD THE SEAT BELT REPLACED AND THE TOTAL COST FOR REPAIRS WAS $153.91. I LOOKED TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS FOR THE SEAT BELTS AND WASN'T ABLE TO LOCATE ANYTHING ON THE INTERNET FOR MY PARTICULAR JEEP. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT WE HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH WINDOWS FALLING DOWN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALERSHIP DID SPLIT THE COST OF 500.00 WITH US BUT NOT THE LATEST. THERE IS A PROBLEM IN THE POWER STEERING. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN LEFT. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE STEERING BOX ON SOME JEEP CHEROKEES BUT THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE MINE.
