PROBLEMS WITH BRAKING SYSTEM. CAR HAS A PULSATION IN BRAKING SYSTEM. DEALER REPLACES AND/OR CUTS ROTORS AND PROBLEM RE-APPEARS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 10 TIMES IN THE PAST 30 MONTHS FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. *TR
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT A BRAKE PROBLEM. THE ROTORS WERE THIN, AND PREMATUREKY WORE OUT. OWNER CONTACTED THE DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THE BRAKES WERE NOTCOVERED BY THE WARRANTY. *AK
I HAVE A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. BRAKING PROBLEMS WITH ROTORS. I HAD TO BRING IT IN AT 9,000 MILES DUE TO PULSATION WHEN APPLING BRAKES, TO WHICH THEY TURNED THEM. 14,000 MILES LATER THEY ARE TELLING ME MY BRAKES ARE WAARPED , WHICH IN TURN THEY DID NOT WANT TO REPLACE. TELLING ME MY WARRANTY WAS UP. I DID CALL CHRYSLER AND THEY DID REPLACE. BUT I WAS TOLD IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN, I WILL HAVE TO PAY MYSELF. I ALSO BROUGHT THE CAR IN BECAUSE THE BRAKES WERE STICKING WHICH THEY INSIST THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM. *JB
WHILE DRIVING A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ON I495N GOING ABOUT 65 MPH WITH THE SUN ROOF FULLY CLOSED, THE SUN ROOF GLASS EXPLODED, SHOWERING GLASS THROUGHOUT THE CAR. INITIALLY I THOUGHT SOMEONE THREW A ROCK AND STRUCK THE WINDOW, BUT WE WERE NOT NEAR AN OVERPASS, NOR WERE TRUCKS OR OTHER CARS CLOSS ENOUGH TO TOSS A ROCK UP IN ORDER TO HIT THE MOONROOF GLASS. A ROCK WAS NOT FOUND IN THE CAR UPON INSPECTION. THE LOCAL JEEP DEALER SAID THAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN A ROCK THAT HIT THE WINDOW AND THEREFORE WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. I THINK THE WINDOW JUST FAILED FROM EITHER STRESS OR FROM A MANUFACTURING DEFECT...BUT HOW DO I PROVE IT?*AK
MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS 60K MILES. BRAKE DISCS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES AND RESURFACED 2 TIMES SINCE THE CAR HAD 14K MILES. NEW BRAKE DISCS LAST ONLY 6-10K MILES BEFORE THEY BECOME WARPED. WHEN I BRAKE, THERE IS STRONG PULSATION. CONTACTED JEEP SEVERAL TIMES BUT COMPANY DENIED RESPONSIBILITY. *TR

RECEIVED 2ND DEGREE BURNS FROM MY CHRYSLER GRAND CHEROKKE LIMITED CAR SEAT. CHRYSLER NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY. TOLD ME THAT IT IS NOT MY BUSINESS WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE SEAT THAT IT IS CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION FOR CHRYSLER ONLY.*AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION. AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AND IDLING. THE RPMS SUDDENLY REVVED UP, THEN WENT BACK DOWN, FOLLOWED BY SUDDEN ACCELERATION. WHEN THIS OCCURRED EXCESSIVE FORCE HAD TO BE APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE ACCELERATION. THIS RESULTED IN CONSUMER'S VEHICLE ALMOST RUNNING A RED LIGHT AND HITTING A PEDESTRIAN. DEALERSHIP HAD DONE SEVERAL DIAGNOSTIC TESTS, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE.*AK
I DROVE INTO MY DRIVEWAY A SHORT DISTANCE AND PUT THE JEEP INTO PARK. I GOT OUT OF THE JEEP WALKED BEHIND IT TO GO GET THE MAIL, BEFORE I REACHED THE MAILBOX I NOTICED THAT THE JEEP HAD STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS. IT ROLLED ACROSS THE ROAD, DOWN INTO A VERY LARGE DITCH AND HIT A TREE. I RAN AFTER IT TO TRY AND STOP IT BUT I WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. I HAD JUST BEGUN TO PUSH THE BRAKE AS THE BACK TIRE WENT INTO THE DITCH. THE FORCE OF THE JEEP GOING DOWN THE DITCH KNOCKED ME ON MY BACK AND MY FOOT GOT CAUGHT IN THE DOOR SO I WAS DRAGGED DOWN THE DITCH WITH THE JEEP. LUCKILY I DIDN'T RECEIVE ANY SERIOUS INJURY JUST SORE AND SHOOK UP BUT THE JEEP HAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE REAR END. *JB
WIFE WAS DROPPING OFF SON AT SWIM PRACTICE. WIFE NOTICED SON HAD LEFT A DRINK IN THE JEEP. WIFE PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND WAS WALKING UP THE SIDEWALK TO TAKE MY SON HIS DRINK WHEN SHE HEARD A NOISE (POPPING) FROM THE DIRECTION OF THE JEEP. SHE TURNED TO SEE THE JEEP ROLLING BACKWARDS ACROSS THE PARKING LOT. MY WIFE ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE JEEP BUT WAS KNOCKED TO THE GROUND. THE JEEP CONTINUED BACKWARD UNTIL IT HIT A FENCE AND A SIGN POLE. DAMAGE TO THE JEEP INCLUDES THE DRIVERS DOOR AND HINGES, SCRATCHES TO THE PAINT ON THE REAR DOOR, BUMPER AND MOST OF THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, AND A BROKEN TAIL LIGHT COVER. I TALKED WITH THE DEALER(POMOCO CHRYSLER, JEEP IN HAMPTON) AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING BUT CHECK OUT THE TRANSMISSION ONCE THE JEEP WAS DRIVABLE. THE SERVICE MANAGER SENT A MESSAGE TO THE FACTORY SERVICE TECHNICIAN WHO RESPONDED THE SAME AS THE DEALER. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT I NEEDED TO CONTACT MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO START A CLAIM.*AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION, WHICH CAUSED THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN CONTACTED BY OWNER.*AK
THE FRONT BRAKES PULSATED BECAUSE THE FRONT ROTORS WERE WARPED. THE DEALERSHIP RE-SURFACED THE ROTORS AND REPLACED THE BRAKE SHOES, BUT THE FAILURE HAS RECURRED. THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE WITH THESE VEHICLES , IN WHICH THE DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER ARE AWARE OF. *JB THE BRAKE PROBLEM BEGAN INITIALLY AT ABOUT 17,000 MILES AND BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. RESURFACED ROTORS AT 20,000 MILES AND THEY BEGAN EXHIBITING PROBLEMS AT ABOUT 22,500 MILES. PROBLEM IS CONTINUING TO WORSEN. *BF *NM
WHILE DRIVING WITH DEFROSTERS ON, THE HEAT SUDDENLY TURNS TO COLD AND DOES NOT DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD. WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT BLEND DOORS WERE DEFECTIVE AND THE DASHBOARD HAD TO BE REMOVED. THIS STARTED HAPPENING ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD SINCE YOU CAN'T DE-ICE THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING. I FEEL THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD MAKE THE NEEDED REPAIRS AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER SINCE THIS IS VERY HAZARDOUS. *TR
THE CAR SHAKES A LOT WHEN I BRAKE. I WAS TOLD THAT BRAKE DISKS ARE WARPED AND PADS ARE 50% WARNED OUT AT 13000 MILES. DEALER AND THE CAMPONY DOES NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY ALTHOUGH DISCS SHOULD LAST FOR ABOUT 60000-80000 MILES.*AK
2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FRONT ROTORS WARPED AFTER 14,000 MILES OF MOSTLY HIGHWAY DRIVING. IN ALL MY YEARS OF OWNING VEHICLES, I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING BEING THE FAULT OF THE DRIVER AS MY DEALERSHIP WAS TRYING TO EXPLAIN TO ME. THE DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE ME $100.00 TO MACHINE THE ROTORS. HOW WILL THIS PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN??? THESE ROTORS ARE DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED. I HAVE OWNED THREE JEEPS PREVIOUS TO THIS ONE AND I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM LIKE THIS. I THINK THIS WILL BE MY LAST CHRYSLER PRODUCT. *JB

AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (AROUND 60 MPH) WHEN APPLYING BRAKES STEERING WHEEL SHAKES (VIBRATES), REPLACED FRONT ROTORS, FRONT PADS, CONTACT DEALER, ALL THAT STARTING AT 15,000 MILES ON A NEW CAR. *NM
WE BOUGHT A NEW 2004 JEEP CHEROKEE AND SHORTLY AFTER THE 12000 WARRANTY WORK WE NOTICED AN INCREASING SHUDDER AND EXCESSIVE VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING. AT THE 15000 MILE WARRANTY WORK, WE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS CHECKED AND FOUND THAT THE FRONT WHEEL ROTORS WERE OUT OF ROUND AND REQUIRED TURNING. THE DEALERSHIP AND SERVICE PERSONNEL HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HELPFUL AND ABLE TO ASSIST US WITH THE VEHICLE BUT IN THIS CASE THEY WERE UNABLE TO CORRECT THE DEFECT. AS WE FELT THIS WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND SAFETY HAZARD, WE WERE TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED AFTER 12000 MILES. TELEPHONE CONTACT WITH THE NATIONAL NUMBER FOR CHRYSLER WAS TERSE AND WERE ADVISED AGAIN THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED. WHEN ASKING TO ADDRESSED THIS WITH A PERSON HIGHER UP, I WAS INFORMED THAT THAT WAS NOT POSSIBLE AND THAT THIS PERSON WAS AUTHORIZED TO MAKE ALL DECISIONS RELATIVE TO THE PROBLEM. NOT FEELING SAFE WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THE VEHICLE, WE WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE ROTORS TURNED. APPARENTLY, THIS WILL BE AN EXPECTED EXPENSE EVERY 12000 MILES. IT WAS A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY WHEN BRAKING GOING DOWN INCLINES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT FOR THE JEEP CHEROKEES. *NM
TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE SHIFTING, A LOUD GRINDING NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT HOME. CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED THE SAME DAY. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REBUILT. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOW HAVING A STEERING PROBLEM. *TC
NOISE IN PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WHILE SITTING IDLE OR AT A STOP SIGN AS A RESULT OF A FAULTY MUFFLER/EXHAUST SYSTEM. TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO DEALERSHIP WHO NOTIFIED CHRYSLER OF THE PROBLEM. THEIR SOLUTION WAS A PIECE OF BARB WELDED TO THE MUFFLER. DID NOT FIX PROBLEM. DEALER HAD ENGINEER COME IN TO LOOK AT REPAIR. ENGINEER SAID IT WAS GOOD AND THE NOISE WAS "ACCEPTABLE" BECAUSE WE ARE ONLY SITTING IDLE FOR 3% OF THE TIME ON THE ROAD. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE NOISE WAS STILL THERE AND SAID IT WAS CHRYSLERS CALL AND THAT THERE IS NOTHING ELSE TO DO. TOOK CAR TO MUFFLER SHOP WHERE THEY IMMEDIATELY IDENTIFIED PROBLEM WITH EXISTING MUFFLER. *NM
STEERING NOISE WHILE TURNING THE WHEEL JUST A LITTLE TO EITHER SIDE. DEALER IS ORDERING "A PART" HAVE TO WAIT A WEEK FOR IT TO COME IN. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 1100 MILES. *JB
MY HUSBAND AND I WERE IN A 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT AND REAR ENDED BY A TOYOTA CELICA TRAVELING ABOUT 40 MPH ACCORDING TO THE POLICE STATEMENT. OUR JEEP THEN HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF US (IT WAS A FOUR CAR CHAIN REACTION COLLISION). THE DRIVERS AND FRONT PASSENGER SEATS RECLINED ON IMPACT. HAD OUR GRANDSON BEEN IN HIS CHILD SAFETY SEAT, HIS LEGS WOULD HAVE BEEN CRUSHED, IF NOT WORSE. FURTHER, THE SHOULDER RESTRAINT DID NOT HOLD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, RESULTING IN MY HEAD SMASHING INTO THE DASHBOARD. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.*AK
AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, IT ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING HITTING A WALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE CAUSE WAS NOT DETERMINED PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION. SPONTANEOUS ACCELERATION COMING OFF A CAR WASH LINE. WHEN THE CAR WASH ATTENDANT TURNED ON THE IGNITION THE VEHICLE TOO OFF BY ITSELF AFTER A HUGE POWER SURGE AND CHARGED OUT OF THE CAR WASH HITTING A FIRE HYDRANT AND DRAGGING IT ACROSS FIVE LANES OF TRAFFIC, THROUGH ANOTHER PARKING LOT AND HITTING TWO PARKED CARS AND STOPPING BY HITTING A BRICK WALL. THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED THE ENTIRE TIME BUT IT DID NO GOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS GOING 40 MPH UNTIL THE FINAL CRASH. *TC
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE AT 25-30 MPH. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. NO INJURY WAS REPORTED. DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED.*AK
OUR 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SPECIAL EDITION BEGAN SHUDDERING WHEN APPLYING BRAKE PRESSURE. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS OCCURRENCE AS IT COULD EASILY SHUDDER OUT OF THE DRIVER'S CONTROL. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN WITH 13,365 MILES ON IT. NORMAN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE SERVICE CENTER STATED THAT THE ROTORS WERE WARPED OUT OF ROUND .006 A PIECE. BOTH THESE AND THE BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT REPLACE THIS UNDER WARRANTY. WE WERE FORCED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS FAR BEYOND "NORMAL" WEAR AND TEAR. THE SERVICE CENTER REP TOLD MY HUSBAND THAT "YOUR WIFE RIDES THE BRAKE." THIS IS NOT A TRUE STATEMENT AND I FEEL THAT DAIMLER CHRYSLER IS SHRUGGING OFF RESPONSIBILITY FOR A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE. SEARCHING THE INTERNET I HAVE FOUND MANY MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE. WE ARE CURRENTLY UP TO 18,000 MILES AND I AM WAITING FOR THE ROTORS TO WARP AGAIN. THERE IS NOW A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *NM
HEATER BLEND DOOR MADE NOISE FROM THE DAY VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. IT ALSO FAILED SEVERAL TIMES DURING NORMAL OPERATION OVER THE LAST 4 YEARS. NO LONGER MAKING NOISE BUT NOW ONLY PASSENGER SIDE HEATER/AC VENT WORKS. DEFROSTING WINDOWS INEFFECTIVE WITH DEFECTIVE BLEND DOOR. *TR
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL IMPACT AT 30 MPH DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK
WHEN TRAVELING 55 MPH UP A STEEP HILL, THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY SHIFTS TO 2ND GEAR CAUSING AN UNACCEPTABLE TORQUE ON THE DRIVER AND PERSONS IN THE CAR. RPM'S GO FROM APPROX. 1800RPM TO 5000RPM INSTANTANEOUSLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED BOTH WHEN USING THE CRUISE CONTROL AT 55 MPH AND ALSO AT 55 MPH WITHOUT THE CRUISE CONTROL. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. IMMEDIATELY UPON PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE SUNROOF WOULD OPEN, BUT FAILED TO CLOSE. THE CONTACT NEVER LEFT THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO MORE OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER BOTH TIMES AND THE MOTOR WAS REPAIRED. SHORTLY AFTERWARDS, THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW FELL INSIDE THE DOOR. THE CONTACT RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE WINDOW CABLE FAILED. THE MECHANIC REPAIRED THE WINDOW. SHORTLY AFTER THAT, WHEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WAS SHUT, THE REAR WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR. THE MECHANIC STATED AGAIN THAT THE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND REPAIRED THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY; THEREFORE, SHE WOULD NOT BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIR COSTS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,357 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 239.
AS THE CONSUMER'S DAUGHTER ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE, THEY HAD BECOME HARD AND DID NOT OPERATE. THE VEHICLE THEN ROLLED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAD BEEN DISCONNECTED. *SC
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP AND CRASHED INTO A CEMENT WALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. BUT, MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ONE MONTH LATER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED, AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. AGAIN, MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER LEAVES PUDDLES UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE ANY FAILURE. THE AIR CONDITIONER CONTINUES TO LEAK AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AS NEEDING A NEW EMISSION LINE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 64,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000. UPDATED 02-01-08. *KB
THE GAS PEDAL OVER TOOK BRAKE ON 2 OCCASIONS, ONE TIME WENT THROUGH A RED LIGHT. REPLACE BAD FRONT BRAKES. *BF THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BRAKES AND CHANGED THE BAD FRONT BRAKES AND THE PROBLEM HAS NOT RETURNED SINCE. *SC
CAR/ENGINE IDLES ROUGH AND SHAKES HEAVILY AT TIMES AT LIGHTS - THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER DOESN?T SEEM TO CARE ABOUT. GAS MPG HAS ALSO BEEN POOR. *AK I SEE THAT I AM THE FIFTH COMPLAINT IN THE DATABASE THAT I COULD FIND...THE ENGINE STALLS AFTER COMING FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IDLE GOES FROM 600 RPM AND THEN SUDDENLY DROPS BELOW 400-300 RPM AND THEN STALLS COMPLETELY. MUST BE PUT IN PARK - AND THEN RESTARTED, REGARDLESS OF WHERE IT OCCURS - THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN OVERLOOKED TOO MANY TIMES. ONCE THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT, BY CLEANING THE THROTTLE BODY - THE NEXT TIME THEY GAVE ME THE "CAN'T DUPLICATE CONCERN" - THE LAST TIME THEY TOLD ME THEY REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE A/C, RADIO, ELECTRICAL (LIGHTING), AND DEFROST SINCE IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES WHEN ALL OF THESE ARE OFF. THE DEALERS KEEP PLAYING GAMES AND WILL NOT RECTIFY THIS ISSUE.
WHILE IN CRUISE CONTROL AT 60 MPH AND TRAVELING UPHILL THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY DOWN SHIFTED FROM OVER DRIVE INTO 2ND GEAR CAUSING A VIOLENT LUNGE FORWARD (APPROX 2000 RPM TO 5000 RPM). THIS RPM CHANGE WAS SO VIOLENT THAT LOST OF VEHICLE CONTROL HAPPENED MOMENTARILY. *JB
CONSUMER STATES THAT HE PURCHASED HIS VEHICLE IN 2003, SOON IN APRIL 29, 2004 HE HAD TO TAKE HIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF BRAND NEW ROTORS. THE MECHANIC TOLD HIM THAT HIS BRAKES WERE WARPED. THIS WAS AT 7074 MILES. THEN ON 10/27/04 HE TOOK HIS VEHICLE IN AGAIN FOR BRAKE PROBLEMS, AGAIN HE WAS TOLD THAT HE NEEDED NEW ROTORS AND THAT THEY WERE WARPED.*JB
WHEN DRIVING SPEEDOMETER READ THE VEHICLE'S SPEED WRONGLY. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE BRAKING FROM 30 -40 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND CONTINUED TO THE FLOOR. THE CONSUMER SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OUT OF TRAFFIC. CONSUMER STATES, "AFTER DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL A FEW TIMES THE BRAKE PRESSURE RETURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE WHOLE BRAKING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER REPLACED ALL ROTORS, PADS, AND CALIPERS. *JB
THE FLOOR BOARDS ARE LEAKING, AND THE DEALERS CANNOT DETERMINE WHERE THE WATER IS COMING FROM AFTER CHECKING THE HEATER AND THE AIR CONDITIONER . THE SEALS AND SHOCKS WERE REPLACED. *NM
HAVE A WHISTLING NOISE IN STEERING AND DEALER HAVE TRIED 6 TIMES TO FIX INCLUDING REPLACING STEERING BOX. NOW VEHICLE MAKES WHISTLING NOISE AND A KNOCKING NOISE IN THE STEERING AREA. 3 OF 6 DEALERS SAY THAT IT CANT BE REPAIRED AND THAT IT IS NOT NORMAL BUT CANT GET CHRYSLER TO RESPOND. THIS IS A LEASE VEHICLE AND I WANT OUT OF VEHICLE BUT HAVE TO HAVE TRANSPORTATION DUE TO MY JOB. I AM AFRAID SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN TO THE STEERING ONE DAY WHILE TRAVELING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INTO THE DEALER(S) 25 TIMES AND OUT OF SERVICE AT LEAST 45+ DAYS. THEY HAVE REPLACED POWER STEERING PUMP 2XS, L WINDSHIELD, SEALED ANOTHER WINDSHIELD, DRAINED POWER STEERING LINES TWICE AND REPLACED STEERING BOX. I LEASED VEHICLE IN 9/04, WITH FIRST REPAIR ATTEMPT IN 10/04 AND HAVE OVER 25 TIMES IN SHOP SINCE LAST 2 YEARS. HELP ME GET OUT OF THIS LEASE VEHICLE? *JB
WARPED BRAKES ON 2004 GRAND CHEROKEE. EAS TOLD BY DEALER IT WAS DUE TO THE FACT THAT I DO LOTS OF CITY DRIVING. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN GRAND CHEROKEES. I EVEN HAD AN ASSOCIATE THAT SOLD HIS FOR SIMILAR PROBLEM. WHILE BRAKING ON HIGHWAY THE CAR VIOLENTLY SHAKES AND IS DANGEROUS. THIS IS THE VEHICLE I TRANSPORT MY CHILD IN AND IT IS NOT A RESPONSIBLE FEELING I GET WHEN I PUT HER IN THE CAR. CHRYLSER NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS. LOOKING AT RESEARCH I DID THIS PROBLEM GOES BACK AT LEAST 8 YEARS. *JB
I HAVE BEEN HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY JEEP FROM THE TIME I GOT IT WITH THE QUALITY OF THE PAINT JOB WHEN I GOT MY JEEP FROM ABERNATHY IN LINCOLN ON NORTH CAROLINA I HAD NOTICED THAT THE PAINT JOB HAD SOME LIGHT SWIRLS. *AK THE SALES REP TOLD ME I COULD BRING BACK THE CAR AND GET IT CLEANED AND THAT WOULD PROBABLE TAKE CARE OF THE SWIRLS AS IT WAS JUST NEED OF A HAND WAX. A FEW DAYS LATER I WAXED THAT CAR BY HAND WITH A RECOMMENDED HAND WAX FROM THE LOCAL NAPA DEALER. THE PROBLEM DID NOT GET ANY BETTER AND I NOTICED THE SITUATION MORE AFTER I MADE THE CAR SHINE. I ALSO STARTED TO SEE THE BARS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE JEEP WERE CHIPPING. I TOOK THE JEEP BACK TO ABERNETHY AND GOT WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER NAMED BARRY. BERRY SAID HE WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT THE SERVICE REP TO COME IN AND LOOK AT THE SITUATION. BARRY CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THAT THE REP DID NOT NEED TO LOOK AT THE BARS AND THAT JEEP WAS NOT INTERESTED IN TAKING CARE OF THE CHIPPING AS THAT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THE BARS WERE GOING TO GET CHIPPED AS THEY WERE BUSH GUARDS. I INFORMED HIM THAT MY JEEP HAD NOT BEEN OFF ROAD AND THAT THESE CHIPS WERE FROM SIMPLY GETTING IN AND OUT OF THE JEEP WITH MY WIFE'S SHOES. BARRY INFORMED ME TO BRING IN THE JEEP AND THEY WOULD TAKE THE BARS OFF AND REPAINT THEM BUT THE REP REALLY HAD TO BE THE ONE TO LOOK AT THE PAINT ON THE CAR. I WAITED FOR MY CAR TO BE SERVICED WITH OIL CHANGE AND WALKED AROUND THE LOT. I LOOKED AT OTHER JEEPS AS WELL AS OTHER CARS ON THE LOT AND NOTICED THEY ALSO HAD MANY SWIRLS AND THEY WERE VERY NOTICEABLE UNDER THE BRIGHT SUN. THERE WAS ANOTHER SALES MAN WALKING AROUND AND I ASK HIM TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE SWIRLS AND IF HE HAD ANY SUGGESTIONS OF HOW TO GET RID OF THEM. THE SALESMAN I SPOKE TO AND SHOWED WAS THE SALES MANAGER AT ABERNETHY AND HE SAID HE COULD ONLY CONTACT THE REP ALSO. THE 1ST APPOINTMENT WAS SET UP WITH A DAY NOTICE THAT THE REP WAS GOING TO BE IN
VEHICLE LURCHES TO THE RIGHT, DEALERSHIP REPLACED ALL RIMS AND TIRES, THUS MAKING THE PROBLEM SLIGHTLY BETTER. MECHANIC SAID IT WAS A "DESIGN FLAW" NOTHING COULD BE DONE ABOUT IT AND TO CALL THE SERVICE MANAGER, THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID "ALL VEHICLES IN COLORADO DRIFT TO THE RIGHT DUE TO ROAD CROWNS". MY JGC STILL DRIFTS TO THE RIGHT WITHIN 5-10 SECONDS ON ALL TYPES OF ROADS. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE TWO WEEKS AGO, IT HAS 800+ MILES ON IT.*AK
THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHILE HIS FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE WHICH CAUSED HIM TO IMPACT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT, TWICE. *BF *SC
THE CONSUMER IS EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH STALLING. THE CONSUMER WOULD BE DRIVING AND SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND STALLS. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY, THE CONSUMER HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER, HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *JB THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED ON THE THIRD REPAIR ATTEMPT. *SC *JB
VEHICLE SHAKES AND VIBRATES WITHOUT CONTROL WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD NOT HONOR IT BECAUSE THE ROTORS WERE WARPED. SAID IT WAS OVER 12,000 MILES. I HAD THE ROTORS TURNED TWICE NOW AND THEY ARE STILL WARPED PAST THE POINT OF NO RETURN. I GUESS NEW ROTORS WILL NEED TO BE PURCHASED. CHRYSLER SHOULD OWN UP TO THEIR PROBLEMS. NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM EVER WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED UNTIL JEEP. NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD YET.*AK
THE VEHICLE IS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO AND WAS A RENTAL VEHICLE. I FOUND OUT THAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO HAVE THIS VEHICLE IN PARK, BUT NOT HAVE THE SHIFT LEVER LOCKED IN THE PARK POSITION. MY WIFE (IN THE PASSENGER SEAT) BUMPED THE SHIFT LEVER AS SHE REACHED FOR ONE OF THE A/C CONTROLS. SHE WAS ALONE IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WENT INTO REVERSE AND ROLLED BACKWARDS ACROSS A MACDONALDS PARKING LOT INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS INCIDENT HAD SIGNIFICANT POSSIBILITY FOR DEATH AND/OR SERIOUS INJURIES. POLICE WERE CALLED BUT DECLINED TO RESPOND TO AN INCIDENT ON PRIVATE PROPERTY.*AK
BOUGHT A 04 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO 2 WEEKS AGO. WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH BOTH BACK WINDOWS DOWN, A LOUD NOISE OCCURS SOUNDING LIKE A FLAT TIRE. IF YOU CRACK A FRONT WINDOW THE NOISE GOES AWAY. I CALLED THE 800 NUMBER IN THE WARRANTY BOOK AND THEY SAID IT'S A DESIGN FLAW.*AK
DT: 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE GAS PEDAL BROKE WHILE DRIVING. THE THROTTLE CABLE THAT WAS ATTACHED TO IT BROKE. THIS CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE CONSUMER RAN INTO A BRICK WALL, PARKED CAR, AND A POLE BEFORE THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE BRAKE WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. CHRYSLER WILL NOT TELL THE CONTACT ANYTHING ABOUT WHY THIS HAPPENED. NO ONE WAS INJURED THE POLICE WERE CALLED, BUT THEY DID NOT RESPOND BECAUSE IT HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN RUNNING NORMALLY PRIOR TO THIS ACCIDENT. THIS OCCURRED ON SEPTEMBER 14, 2004. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS THE AGENCY THAT FOUND THAT THE THROTTLE CABLE BROKE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY STILL HAS THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WAS NOT TOTALED. *AK UPDATED 11/29/05. *JB
