WHEN TRAVELING IN CRUISE CONTROL AT 55-60 MPH AND ENCOUNTERING A HILL THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL RAPIDLY DOWNSHIFT A COUPLE OF GEARS. THIS RESULTS IN THE ENGINE RPM GOING FROM ABOUT 1800 TO 5000 RPM VERY SUDDENLY. THIS IS THE SAME RESULT AS PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. THIS OCCURRED ON A CURVE AND RESULTED IN A MOMEMTARY LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. FORTUNATELY AN ACCIDENT WAS AVOIDED THIS TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO DIFFERENT JEEP DEALERS WHO SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE IT WAS A DESIGN/ PROGRAMMING PROBLEM WITH THE COMPUTER THAT CONTROLS TRANSMISSION SHIFT POINTS. *AK
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL AT LOW SPEEDS VEHICLE SHIMMIED UNCONTROLLABLY. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK THE VEHICLE PULSATED FROM THE FIRST MILE AT LOW SPEEDS OF 30-35 MPH OR LESS. *SC

WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 35-70 MPH VEHICLE SWAYS FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND IS OVERLY SENSITIVE TO STANDARD CORRECTIONS. DEALER STATED BRAKE ROTORS WERE WARPED, AND REPLACED THEM UNDER WARRANTY AT 9000 MILES.*AK
I RECEIVED NOTICE OF A RECALL ON MY JEEP CHEROKEE IN AUGUST OF 2006 FOR POSSIBLE OVER HEATING OF THE SEATS TO DATE I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO HAVE THE CAR REPAIRED . I AM BEING TOLD THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE? *JB
THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES HORRIBLY AND THE WHOLE VEHICLE PULSATES FORWARD AND BACK WHENEVER YOU TRY TO STOP. WE HAVE REPLACED THE ROTORS/PADS FIVE TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE JEEP NEW IN 2003. IT STARTED AT 15,054 (AUG "04), THEN 24,038 (CLASS ACTION SUIT), 34,700 (TURNED), 36,000, AND NOW AGAIN AT 46,000(SEPT "09). WELL OVER $1000 INTO REPAIRS AND WE STILL DON'T FEEL THE VEHICLE IS ANY SAFER OR MAKE THE GC ANY MORE PLEASANT TO DRIVE. WE DON'T HAVE MUCH FAITH IN NHSTA DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT AFTER READING ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS BUT THOUGHT WE WOULD ADD TO THE ISSUE. AREN'T RELIABLE BRAKES CONSIDERED SOMETHING OF A SAFETY ISSUE? THERE ARE PAGES AND PAGES OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET AND CHRYSLER CHOOSES TO DO NOTHING. MAYBE THEY SHOULD HAVE JUST GONE BANKRUPT SINCE THEY CAN'T BUILD A RELIABLE VEHICLE. VEHICLE ACCELERATED FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE RPMS RACED TO A HIGH RATE, AND VEHICLE HIT A TREE. CONSUMER SUSTAINED INJURIES. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
BRAKES AND BRAKE PEDAL SHAKE CRAZILY WHEN APPLIED. THIS STARTED HAPPENING AROUND 12,000 MILES. I HEARD OF A CIVIL SUIT THAT IS BEING FILED IN MISSOURI/KANSAS AND HAVE BEEN WAITING TO REPAIR TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL. *NM
DT: THE CONSUMER FELT THAT THE PROBLEM HAD STARTED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AND HAD ONLY GOTTEN WORSE. THE PROBLEM FIRST STARTED ON AUGUST OF 2004. WHEN THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES HE COULD FEEL THE VEHICLE SHAKE. THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BRAKE ROTORS. THE VEHICLE FELT LIKE THE WHEELS WERE OUT OF LINE. THE CONSUMER TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC THEY CLEANED THE ROTORS AND PADS. THE VEHICLE IS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. *AK
WHILE ENGAGED IN CRUISE CONTROL AND DRIVING UP A STEEP GRADE. THE VEHICLE JUMPED FROM 2000 RPMS TO 6000 RPMS. *AK THE VEHICLE DROPPED TWO OR THREE GEARS AND WOULD SPEED UP UNCONTROLLABLY. THIS CAUSED PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING AND THE VEHICLE HAS TRIED TO DRIVE OFF OF THE ROAD IN ONE CASE. *SC *JB
(1) SEVERE BRAKE PEDAL PULSATION AND ASSOCIATED SHAKING AND SEVERE VIBRATION TO STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN. (2) PREMATURE WARPING OF FRONT BRAKE ROTORS ANNUALLY - TWICE IN 30K MILES SINCE NEW. (3) ORIGINAL ROTORS MACHINED IN PLACE @ 16K MILES; ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED @ 30K MILES. REQUESTED DEALER MEASURE NEW ROTORS WITH MICROMETER TO ENSURE INITIAL VARIATION IN THICKNESS WITHIN DAIMLER CHRYSLER SPECS. RUN OUT MEASUREMENTS ALSO REQUESTED, MADE AND RECORDED PRIOR TO AND AFTER INSTALLATION. *JB

VEHICLE WAS BRAND NEW AND WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKES PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHO WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. RECEIVED THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER, AND WAS TOLD DEALER HAD NO ANSWERS. CONSUMER WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. EVEN WHEN VEHICLE WAS MOVING SLOWLY IT WOULD NOT STOP. *AK WHILE THE CONSUMER DESCENDED GRADES OR HILLS THE ABS WOULD ACTIVATE. THE CONSUMER WOULD CONTINUE TO PRESS ON THE BRAKE BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD CONTINUE THROUGH THE STOP SIGN OR LIGHT. *NM
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE STALLED. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK THIS CAR STALLED NO LESS THAN 12 TIMES. AFRAID TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC WITH THIS CAR. POWER STEERING LEAKED, CLICKING NOISE FROM TRANSMISSION WHEN PUT INTO GEAR. *BF
BRAKES FAILED ON MY NEW 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WHEN GOING TO PARK HIT A POLE. PUMPED THEM UP AND TOOK TO DEALER. DEALER COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. WITHIN NEXT WEEK AT SLOW SPEEDS BRAKES FAILED 3 MORE TIMES CALLED AWRECKER AND TRADED IT IN AFTER DEALER STILL COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM AFTER KEEPING IT 5 DAYS. *AK
2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE DEVELOPED PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES.*MR THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL WOULD VIBRATE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AT SPEEDS OF 40 MPH OR HIGHER. THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED BY THE DEALER THREE TIMES IN 20000 MILES. THE REPAIRS WERE DONE UNDER WARRANTY AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. AFTER THE THIRD BRAKE REPAIR THE CONSUMER HAD NO FAITH IN THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT THE CONSUMER CONSIDER PURCHASING A NEW 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE DEALER EXPLAINED THAT THE NEW JEEP HAD A NEW BRAKE DESIGN WITH IMPROVED CALIPERS. THE CONSUMER TRADED IN HIS 2000 CHEROKEE FOR A 2004 CHEROKEE (IJ4GW48S44C172654, PURCHASED JULY 14, 2003). AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE 10694 ON JULY 15, 2004 THE CONSUMER HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR HIGH SPEED SHUDDER AND VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ONE OTHER TIME ON JUNE 2, 2005 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. EACH TIME THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED DUE TO HEAT STRESS. *NM
MY 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO SHIFTED BY ITSELF OUT OF PARK AFTER ENGINE WAS STARTED, HIT 2 PARKED CARS, JUMPED A CURB AND THREW MY SISTER OUT OF CAR AND STOPPED WHEN IT HIT A LARGE TREE. *TR
DURING A 50 MPH REAR END VEHICLE COLLISION, THE FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE FRONT SEAT BELT BUCKLE UNLOCKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. PLEASE PROVIDED MORE INFORMATION. *JB
WHILE IDLING AT A STOP LIGHT THE FRONT END BEGIN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY THEN THE ENGINE WOULD STALL. *AK *NM
WE PURCHASED A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THE END OF JUNE 2004. THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 30-40 MILES AT PURCHASE. THREE DAYS AFTER PURCHASE THE CAR CUT OFF ON MY HUSBAND AND WAS DIFFICULT TO START. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THEY COULD NOT LOOK AT THE CAR BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON. WHILE ON VACATION 1 1/2 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE OUR CAR SHUT OFF WHILE TRAVELING 60 MPH ON A HIGHWAY. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND WAS TOWED TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP IN MARYLAND. THAT DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE COMPUTER IN THE CAR. NO INCIDENTS OCCURRED FOR 1 1/2 WEEKS. THEN UPON OUR RETURN TO SOUTH CAROLINA THE RPM OF OUR CAR WOULD SUDDENLY DROP TO 500 WHILE IDLING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS OR AT A STOP. THE RPM'S WOULD ALSO SUDDENLY DROP TO 0 AND THE CAR WOULD CUT OFF WHILE IDLING. FROM THE MIDDLE OF JULY UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST THE CAR WAS LOOKED AT APPROXIMATELY 6 TIMES. THE SKIM MODULE AND WIRING HARNESS WERE BOTH REPLACED IN THE CAR. AFTER THE WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED THE CAR CEASED TO HAVE PROBLEMS FOR 3000 MILES. THEN ON DECEMBER 4TH THE CAR CUT OFF WHILE WAITING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE RPM'S HAVE NOW STARTED TO ONCE AGAIN DROP DOWN TO BELOW 500 AND OCCASIONALLY THEY GO UP AND DOWN WHEN THE CAR IS NOT EVEN MOVING. A CO-PILOT SYSTEM WAS INSTALLED TO RECORD ANY ERRORS IN THE CAR AND NO CODES OR MISFIRES WERE CAPTURED FROM THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THE CAR AND CHRYSLER INFORMED US THAT THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO REPLACE OUR CAR EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM.*AK
I HAVE BEEN HAVING BRAKE VIBRATING PROBLEMS SINCE 12,000 MILES ON MY 2004 JEEP. IT HAS GOTTEN SUBSTANTIALLY WORSE, NOW AT 18,000 MILES. I HAVE CONTACTED JEEP CORPORATE AND THEY WERE OF NO HELP. THE 3 TIMES I BROUGHT MY JEEP IN FOR REPAIR, ALL THEY DID WAS "RE-SURFACE" THE BRAKE PADS ONCE BECAUSE THEY WERE "WARPED." THEY COULD NOT COVER THE COST OF THE RESURFACING OR THE DIAGNOSIS BECAUSE MY JEEP WAS OVER 12,000 MILES. ACCORDING TO THE NHSTA WEBSITE, THERE ARE A NUMBER OF JEEP CUSTOMERS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. *JB
BRAKE DISC WARPING AND CAUSING PULSATION. FIRST OCCURRENCE AT ABOUT 10,000 MILES. SECOND HAS JUST STARTED AT 16,000 MILES.*AK
WHILE WAITING AT AN INTERSECTION THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY. CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT THEY FAILED. CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE WHICH RESULTED IN A CRASH. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. *AK *NM
I PURCHASED MY 2004 GRAND JEEP CHEROKE ON MAY 1, 2004 AND I FIND OUT TODAY THAT THERE WAS A RECALL PUT ON THE VEHICLE ON MARCH 24 AND THE COMPANY SOLD ME THE VEHICLE THAT WAS DEFECTED AND THEY KNEW IT. I ONLY FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS DEFECT BECAUSE OF A PROBLEM WITH THE WINDSHIELD.*AK

WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND EXPERIENCED SEVERE VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL. A CERTIFIED MECHANIC EXAMINED THE VEHICLE, AND DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT ROTORS WERE WARPED AND DEFORMED. THE ROTORS AND PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.*AK
ON TWO OCCASIONS GAS PEDAL HAS OVER TOOK THE BRAKES PEDAL AN ACCELERATED THROUGH A RED LIGHT. TOOK CAR TO DEALER FOUND NOTHING WRONG TOLD THEM TO CHECK THE FRONT BRAKES. THEY WERE BAD THEY REPLACED AT 19,000 MILES. *JB
TRANSMISSION COMING OUT OF PARK INTO REVERSE WHILE IDLING. *AK
WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS BACKING OUT THE VEHICLE TO CLEAR THE GARAGE A LOUD ROAR WAS HEARD. ALTHOUGH THE CONSUMER'S FOOT WAS NOT ON THE ACCELERATOR VEHICLE SURGED BACKWARD, COLLIDING WITH A MOVING VAN. CONSUMER SUSTAINED MINOR NECK INJURIES, AND THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE POLICE WAS NOT SUMMONED, AND THERE WAS NO POLICE REPORT. *AK
BRAKES REAL SOFT AND SPONGY. AT A STOP THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WILL BOTTOM OUT WITH A STEADY FOOT PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. ON ONE OCCASSION WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT, THE BRAKES FAILED. THE PEDAL WENT RIGHT TO THE BOTTOM OUT POINT WITH VARY LITTLE STOPPING POWER. WHEN I PULLED FORWARD AND APPLIED THE BRAKE AT ABOUT 15 MPH THE ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM ACTIVATED. AFTER GOING FORWARD AND STOPPING A COUPLE OF TIMES THE BRAKE PEDAL CAME BACK TO WHAT THE DEALER CALLS NORMAL. IT SEEMS LIKE THERE IS AIR GETTING INTO THE SYSTEM. I HAVE BEEN TO THREE DIFFERENT DEALERS AND MET WITH A CHRYSLER TECH REP TO NO AVAIL. *AK
THE AIRBAG SYSTEM OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE ON MY VEHICLE MAY EXPERIENCE A FRONT AIRBAG AND/OR SEATBELT PRETENSIONER INADVERTENT DEPLOYMENT.
WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH ON A HILL CRUISE CONTROL FAILED. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL, BUT WE DID NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT.*AK
PURCHASED 3/04, IN FOR SERVICE 5/04 X2 AT 1ST DEALERSHIP FOR ROUGH IDLE IN PARK AND IN GEAR AT STOP. DIAGNOSTICS INDICATE NO PROBLEM, REC CALLING CHRYSLER CUST SERVICE, REFERRED TO 2ND DEALERSHIP, SAME COMPLAINT, DIAGNOSTICS INDICATE NO PROBLEM. WAS TOLD "THAT IS HOW THAT ENGINE RUNS"*AK ENGINE FEELS AS IF IT WILL STALL OUT AT STOP OR PARK. CHRYSLER OFFERING NO HELP AT THIS TIME OTHER THAN REFERRAL TO DISTRICT MANAGER WHICH WILL NOT BE IN UNTIL END OF MONTH.(JUNE) APPEARS THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS LOGGED ABOUT THIS, YET CHRYSLER/JEEP UNWILLING TO FIX PROBLEM. VEHICLE ALSO PULLS TO RIGHT, WAS TOLD "THAT'S HOW IT IS", ALSO LESS THAN AVE GAS MILAGE.
2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO DOES NOT HAVE A CIGARETTE LIGHTER OR AN ASH TRAY.*MR THE DEALER TOLD THE CONSUMER A CIGARETTE LIGHTER AND ASH TRAY WOULD BE MAILED TO HIM AND HE COULD INSTALL IT HIMSELF. FIVE DAYS LATER THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A PACKAGED WHICH CONTAINED THE NORMAL LIGHTER AND A SMALL BLACK PLASTIC CUP WITH A LID FOR THE ASH TRAY. THE CUP WAS TO BE PLACED IN THE SMALLER OF THE TWO FRONT CUP HOLDERS. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ASH TRAY WAS INADEQUATE BUT AWKWARD TO LOCATE AND DANGEROUS TO USE SINCE IT WOULD TAKE THE DRIVERS ATTENTION FROM THE ROAD. *JB
I HAVE A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND WHEN TRAVELLING IN CRUISE CONTROL AT 55 MPH AND START UP A STEEP GRADE, THE TRANSMISSION WILL SHIFT OUT OF OVERDRIVE INTO 3RD GEAR, THEN IMMEDIATELY SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR. THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME THIS SITUATION OCCURS. WHEN THIS SHIIFING OCCURS THE ENGINE RPM GOES FROM ABOUT 1600 RPM TO 4000 RPM. IF THE ROAD WERE NOT TOTALLY DRY OR IF YOU APPROACH A CURVE WHEN THIS HAPPENS A PERSON COULD EASILY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON 6/30/2004 AND THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THIS IS NORMAL.*AK

WARPING OF FRONT BRAKE ROTORS. IT OCCURRED AT 16000 MILES AND THE ROTERS WERE GROUND. IT IS NOW STARTING AGAIN AT 25000 MILES. I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE MAN THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH 2004 JEEPS. *AK
WHEN AT A STOP LIGHT VEHICLE SHUT OFF. ALSO, IT SHUT OFF WHEN WARMING UP THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM COULD NOT DUPLICATED BY THE DEALER. *AK

THE OWNER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED SUDDENLY WHILE WAITING FOR THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HERS TO PROCEED THROUGH A GATE. THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD AND HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. *NM *SC
MY WIFE AND I OWN TWO JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES, A '99 THE AN '04. IN 1999, JEEP CHANGED THE DESIGN OF THEIR GRAND CHEROKEES AND ONE DESIGN CHANGE POSES A SAFETY RISK TO PASSENGERS IN THE BACK SEATS, ESPECIALLY YOUNG CHILDREN. MODELS PRODUCED STARTING IN 1999 ALLOW FOR THE WINDOWS IN THE BACK SEATS TO ROLL DOWN, LEAVING A GAP BETWEEN THE WINDOW AND THE FRAME ON THAT PART OF THE WINDOW CLOSEST TO THE REAR SEAT PASSENGER. THE 1998 JEEP ALLOWED FOR THE WINDOW TO BE ROLLED DOWN AND THE GAP BETWEEN THE WINDOW AND THE FRAME WAS AT THE FRONT OF THE WINDOW, FURTHEST FROM THE PASSENGER. ON SEVERAL OCCASSIONS WE HAVE ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOWS AND MY CHILDREN (AGES 2 AND 4) , ATTRACTED BY HAVING THE WIND HIT THEIR HAND, HAVE STUCK THEIR FINGERS BETWEEN THIS GAP AREA. WHEN THE WINDOWS ARE ROLLED UP, THEIR FINGERS GET CRUSHED BETWEEN THE WINDOW AND THE FRAME. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY CONTACTED JEEP ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THEY WERE ONLY CONCERNED ABOUT WAS WHETHER MY CHILDREN'S FINGERS WERE BROKEN. THEIR SOLUTION, USE THE WINDOW LOCKS ON THE DRIVER'S CONSOLE. HOWEVER, THAT DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I CAN ONLY GUARANTEE THEIR HANDS ARE NOT IN THE WINDOWS BY TURNING AROUND AND CONTINUING TO LOOK AS I ROLL THE WINDOWS UP. THIS IS DISTRACTING AND NOT A SAFE COURSE OF ACTION. BUT THIS WAS THEIR RECOMMENDATION. MY WIFE AND I DID NOT PAY TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR VEHICLES THAT CAUSE PAIN TO OUR CHILDREN. WHETHER THEY HAVE BROKEN THEIR FINGERS IS IRRELEVENT AND REALLY SHOWS A LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY BY JEEP. I SPOKE TO REPRESENTATIVES OF JEEP AND THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. FROM OUR CONVERSATION, ONLY IF MY CHIDREN SUFFERED BROKER FINGERS WOULD THEY COMPENSATE US AND/OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. APPARENTLY, NO BROKEN BONES MEANS ITS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. I WOULD THINK A COMPANY WOULD RATHER BE PROACTIVE AND NOT REACTIVE. (THE DATE BELOW IS WHEN THE LATEST INCIDENT OCCURED BUT THIS HAS OCCURED MULTIPLE TIMES.)
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY AND FAILED TO STOP COMPLETELY. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION NUMEROUS TIMES, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND REPLACED THEM THREE TIMES. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE ON 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKE AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SIMULTANEOUSLY. THIS CONDITION CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE UNEXPECTEDLY. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND WAS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE. *JB
CONSUMER'S SON WAS PULLING INTO DRIVEWAY WHEN GAS PEDAL GOT STUCK. THIS CAUSED HIM TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL, KNOCK DOWN A FENCE, AND THEN KEEP GOING, ENDING UP CHOPPING DOWN A VERY LARGE TREE. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER AND SON SUSTAINED BUMPS ON THE HEADS , BUT THERE WERE NO SERIOUS INJURIES. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS WOULD NOT LOCK OR "GRIP" AS QUICKLY AS IT SHOULD. THE FAILURE CAUSED DIFFICULTY WHEN BRAKING. SHE ALSO NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A "GLIDING" EFFECT WHEN DRIVING 40 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE. FURTHERMORE, SHE EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. AS A RESULT, SHE MADE WIDE TURNS DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF EFFORT SHE HAD TO PUT INTO TURNING THE WHEEL. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY CHECKED THE BRAKES. THE DEALER CHANGED THE BRAKE PADS AND STATED THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THE SECOND TIME THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR THE ABS FAILURE SHE WAS INFORMED AGAIN THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED FOR THE STEERING FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20.
I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. STARTING IN APRIL OF 2004 I HAD TO HAVE MY ROTORS TURNED AFTER LESS THAN 12,000 MILES AFTER HITTING A PATCH OF ICE AND MY ANTI-LOCK BREAKS KICKED IN. IT WAS A DOWNWARD SPIRAL FROM THERE. THE ROTORS WOULD NEED TO BE TURNED JUST SHY OF 3,000 MILES FROM THE PREVIOUS "CORRECTION" AFTER THE 3RD TIME OF HAVING TO BE TURNED THE ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED. I PERSONALLY CONTACTED DAMLIER-CHRYSLER AND COMPLAINED ABOUT MY PROBLEM WITH THE ROTORS. THEY HAD THE NERVE TO TELL ME THAT IT WAS THE WAY I AM DRIVING MY CAR AND THAT I SHOULDN'T BE SO ROUGH. I AM A SAFE DRIVER WHO HAS NEVER BEEN IN A SINGLE CAR ACCIDENT OR RECEIVED A TICKET AND DO NOT FEEL THAT THE "CUSTOMER SERVICE" GENTLEMAN HAD A RIGHT TO EVEN SUGGEST OTHERWISE. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A BRAND NEW CAR (I HAVE HAD 3) THAT HAS GIVEN ME MORE PROBLEMS WITH THE ROTORS. I HAVE ALSO NEVER HAD TO REPLACE ROTORS ON A VEHICLE THAT IS LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD. I COMPLAINED TO MY DEALER EVERY TIME I WAS IN FOR THE REPAIRS AND I LEARNED THAT I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. JEEP WAS OFFERING A "BETTER" BREAKING SYSTEM THAT WOULD "FIX" THE PROBLEM THAT WOULD RUN ME ABOUT $350-$400 PLUS THE COST OF INSTALLATION. THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. I THINK THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS IF NOT FATAL INJURIES. I AM VERY UPSET IN THE MONEY I HAVE HAD TO INVEST IN A BREAKING SYSTEM FOR A BRAND NEW CAR THAT HAS NEVER BEEN FIXED. *JB
MY 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SPECIAL EDITION STALLS AT STOP LIGHTS. IT HAS HAPPENED BETWEEN 5-10 TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN AUGUST. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH IT.
2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WARPED ROTORS AT 7800 MILES. *AK
