DRIVING CAR JUST SHUTS OFF AND LOSS OF STEERING AND BREAKS WAS IN A REAR END ACCOUNT BECAUSE OF THIS CHRYSLER STILL NOT FIXING I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON WITH IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
REAR MIDDLE SEAT BELT CONTINUALLY RETRACTS TOO FAR AND IS INOPERABLE - THE SYSTEM IS INTERLOCKED WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO REPAIR SAFELY. SEAT IS NOT USABLE AND IS UNSAFE. THIS ALSO THE ONLY SEAT BELT THAT CAN BE USED FOR CHILD-SAFETY SEATS. *TR

THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR FOR A LONG TIME. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE ENGINE INDICATOR RANDOMLY ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD NEED TO WAIT FOR A SECOND LETTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
THE DASH LIGHTS STARTED FLICKERING, THEN THE BRAKES LOCKED UP AND THE JEEP JUST LOST POWER AND TURNED OFF. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT THE JEEP'S BRAKES LOCKED UP AND LOST POWER AND THIS IS ENOUGH TO CAUSE ALARM AND RESULTED WITH THIS COMPLAINT. I WILL NOT WAIT FOR A SECOND TIME THAT THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES LOCK UP AND TURNS ITSELF OFF AT A MORE DANGEROUS HIGHWAY SITUATION ON A BUSY TRAFFIC AND CERTAINLY NOT PUTTING MY FAMILY AT THIS TYPE OF RISK WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. [XXX], A CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE FROM JEEP THAT I HAVE SPOKEN TO ADVISED THAT CHRYSLER COULD POSSIBLY ISSUE A RECALL IF ENOUGH NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS WERE RECEIVED FROM NHTSA. AM I REALLY SUPPOSED TO WAIT UNTIL MY FAMILY GETS INJURED BEFORE SOMETHING GETS DONE WITH THIS KNOWN ISSUE? THE DASH LIGHTS/GAUGES ISSUE HAS BEEN ONGOING AND JEEP HAD BEEN CONTACTED A FEW YEARS BACK TO NO AVAIL. I ALSO ADVISED [XXX] (JEEP REP) ABOUT ALL FOUR HANDLES BREAKING AT THE SAME TIME. I HAD TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE TO LET MY DAUGHTER AND HER FRIEND GET OUT OF THE BACKSEAT. THESE HANDLES SHOULD NOT BREAK AT ALL DUE TO IT'S NORMAL USE AND PURPOSE. I REQUEST YOUR DEPARTMENT TO PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AND AVOID ANY INJURIES THAT THIS DEFECT COULD CAUSE. THANK YOU. P41 - CHRYSLER RECALL - FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH THE PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE TO FIX MY VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE IS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN DUE TO THE DETERIORATING NATURE OF THE FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. I HAVE VIDEO EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT MY CLAIMS THAT THE VEHICLE I OWN IS MALFUNCTIONING AND THE SAFETY-RECALL NOTICE IS NOW OVER 6 MONTHS OLD. CHRYSLER HAS NOT PROVIDED ANY OF THE AFFECTED OWNERS A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM AND REFUSES TO REIMBURSE THE AFFECTED OWNERS. I AM FLOORED AT THE FACT A MAJOR CORPORATION HAS ISSUED A RECALL NOTICE, ONLY FOR 6 MONTHS TO HAVE PASSED WITH NO SOLUTION IN THE FUTURE. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND JEEP BOTH SEVERAL TIMES TO CHECK ON THE STATUS OF THE FIX, ALL TO RECEIVE NO WORD OR NOTICE OF WHEN THE PARTS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE. I HAVE ASKED SEVERAL TIMES IF I COULD HAVE THE VEHICLE FIXED AND THEN HAVE CHRYSLER REIMBURSE ME, AND WAS DENIED. ALL OF MY INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES HAVE CRACKED TO SOME EXTENT. TWO HAVE BEEN REPLACED ALREADY. ONE HANDLE IS BROKEN TO THE POINT WHERE THE DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE INTERIOR WHICH CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR

A LOT OF PEOPLE ON JEEP FORUMS HAVE BEEN REPORTING THEIR JEEPS SHOWING A "TRANSMISSION OVERHEAT" MESSAGE IN DISPLAY AND VEHICLE NOT TURNING OVER. IS THERE A WAY NHTSA CAN LOOK INTO THIS AND SEE IF JEEP NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL? STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, WENT TO PULL OUT AND THE MOTOR WAS DEAD. I JUST DRIFTED INTO THE INTERSECTION. PUT ON THE BRAKE, TURNED THE KEY & THE MOTOR STARTED. MY KNEE MUST HAVE BUMPED THE KEYCHAIN AND APPARENTLY IT TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC COMING WHEN I TRIED TO PULL OUT, OTHERWISE I WOULD'VE BEEN T-BONED. *TR

I RECEIVED NOTICE OF RECALL FOR IGNITION SWITCH OVER A YEAR AGO. I BELIEVE MY CAR EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE ON NUMBEROUS OCCASSIONS, TO WHICH, PRIOR TO RECALL, JEEP "COULDN'T FIND PROBLEM" AND WOULD DO NOTHING TO RECONCILE MY SAFETY CONCERNS. I COULD NOT APPLY LEMON LAW. I CONTACTED JEEP DEALER, MYSTIC, CT AGAIN AFTER RECALL NOTICE AND THEY STATED THEY DIDN'T HAVE PARTS AND I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT TO BE CONTACTED BY JEEP TO REPAIR. MY JEEP WAS ON HIGHWAY MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN THIS HAPPENED; ALL OF GAUGES WOULD DROP TO OFF POSITION, LIGHTS WOULD FLASH ON AND OFF--SOMEHOW IT WOULD CORRECT ITSELF. UPON BRINGING IT TO DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES, IT SOMEHOW STOPPED. THEN INCIDENT APPROXIMATELY 2.5 YEARS AGO-PARKING CAR IN LOT-EVERYTHING "LOCKED" INCLUDING STEERING AND BRAKING-ROLLED UNTIL CAR STOPPED ON ITS OWN-TOOK KEY OUT OF IGNITION-WAITED, RESTARTED AND CAR WAS FINE. THIS ISSUE WAS ORIGINALLY ADDRESSED AT AN ORIGINAL COMPLAINT SUBMISSION DATED BACK A YEAR AGO BUT THE ISSUE ON THE DOOR HANDLES WAS NEVER ADDRESSED. THIS VEHICLE IS USED TO CARPOOL KIDS TO/FROM SCHOOL AND ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO, A FRIEND OF MY DAUGHTER'S HAD HURT (PINCHED) HIS HAND TRYING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING EAST ON THE PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE FROM PITTSBURGH, PA TO YORK, PA WITH MY WIFE AND 1 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER ON THE FRIDAY OF MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. I WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 70-75 MPH IN THE LEFT HAND LANE WHEN I NOTICED I HAD LOST ACCELERATION, POWER STEERING, AND ALL OF MY INTERIOR LIGHTS HAD TURNED OFF. THE ENTIRE VEHICLE HAD SHUT OFF. THIS EASILY COULD HAVE CAUSED A HORRIFIC ACCIDENT AS THERE WAS A TON OF TRAFFIC BEHIND ME AND ON THE ROAD. FORTUNATELY, I WAS GOING DOWN A HILL AND I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN SPEED FOR ENOUGH TIME TO SAFELY DRIFT MY CAR INTO THE RIGHT LANE AND EVENTUALLY OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ONCE PULLED OVER, I HAD DIFFICULTY SHIFTING MY VEHICLE INTO PARK AND TURNING OFF THE IGNITION. AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF ATTEMPTING TO SHUT IT OFF, I WAS ABLE TO GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. JUST RECENTLY THE WHINING NOISE RETURNED AND NOW WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST GEAR INTO SECOND IT IS A HARD SHIFT NOT FLUID AND SMOOTH. THE SERVICE STATION WHO I HAVE BEEN GOING TO FOR OVER 30 YEARS IS A VERY REPUTABLE AND A LIFE LONG FRIEND. HE FOUND NO CODES FROM THE ON BOARD COMPUTER AND HIS RECOMMENDATIONS WERE TO HAVE THE CAR CHECKED BY AND JEEP DEALER FOR MORE COMPLETE DIAGNOSES AS THEY HAVE EQUIPMENT THAT MIGHT HELP WITH THE PROBLEM BUT HIS DIAGNOSIS WAS PROBABLE BAD TRANSMISSION. FROM THE START THIS CAR ALWAYS HAD A SHIFT PROBLEM FROM FIRST TO SECOND. MANY TIMES THERE WAS A DELAY IN FROM PARK TO DRIVE AND HAD BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE WHILE UNDER WARRANTY BUT WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO CODES NOR ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I PAID THE IMPORT FEE OF $204.75 AND THE EXCISE TAX $100.00 AND GOODS AND SERVICES TAX OF $ 408.56 - $508.56 TOTAL. WHEN I GOT TO SASKATCHEWAN, WHERE LIVE, I TRIED TO GET THE VEHICLE LICENCED AND INSURED ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT I COULD NOT DO THAT BECAUSE OF AN OUTSTANDING RECALL ON THE VEHICLE... THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLE HAS BROKEN COMPLETELY DUE TO THE COLLAPSE OF STRESS CRACKS IN THE PLASTIC. THE FRACTURE CAUSED A MINOR LACERATION ON MY RIGHT HAND. THE SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED A FEW DAYS LATER TO THE RIGHT REAR DOOR AND I NOTICED THAT THE REMAINING DOORS HAVE MAJOR STRESS CRACKS IN THE SAME PLACE AND ARE NOT SAFE TO OPERATE. WE MUST OPEN THE WINDOW TO OPERATE THE OUTSIDE HANDLES TO EXIT THE AUTOMOBILE. IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURS ALL PASSENGERS ,ESPECIALLY CHILDREN AND THOSE UNABLE TO REACH THE OUTSIDE HANDLES QUICKLY, WOULD BE AT SERIOUS RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH. I TALKED TO THE DEALER AND TO A CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF THE SAFETY PROBLEM AND DID NOT OFFER ANY HELPFUL SOLUTION OTHER THAN TO REPLACE THE FOUR DOOR PANELS AT MY EXPENSE. I WILL HAVE TO DO THE REPAIRS BECAUSE OF THE HIGH RISK TO MY FAMILY HOWEVER IT IS NOT FAIR THAT A LARGE COMPANY IN THE US CAN IGNORE SUCH A MAJOR SAFETY RISK TO IT'S CUSTOMERS. THE PLASTIC PART IN THE REGULATOR BROKE AND THE WINDOW WENT DOWN IN THE DOOR. MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO ORDER THE PART ON LINE FOR $200 AND FIX IT HIMSELF. THE SECOND WINDOW REGULATOR TO GO WAS THE DRIVERS REAR PASSENGER WINDOW. AS I WAS DRIVING THE WINDOW KEPT INCHING DOWN. HAD TO STOP 3 TIMES ON THE WAY HOME TO PULL THE WINDOW UP SO IT WOULDN'T FALL INTO THE DOOR,TAPED IT UP TILL I GOT HOME. AGAIN THE WINDOW REGULATOR SOMETHING BROKE INSIDE THE PART. ORDERED ANOTHER REGULATOR ON LINE AND HAD TO HAVE MY HUSBAND FIT IT. IF YOU GO TO CARCOMPLAINS.COM YOU WILL SEE MANY OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS. THIS PART SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
ON FEBRUARY 19, 2014 I TOOK MY JEEP IN TO HAVE THE N23 RECALL (REPROGRAM FINAL DRIVE CONTROL MODULE) AND AT THIS TIME I HAD 108,960 MILES ON MY JEEP. I REVIEWED THE JEEP FORUMS THAT I BELONG TO AND FOUND THAT MANY ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH 4LO WITH IT NO LONGER WORKING AFTER THE N23 RECALL. I THEN CHECKED MY JEEPS 4LO AFTER READING THIS AND MY 4LO IS ALSO NO LONGER WORKING AFTER HAVING THE RECALL PERFORMED (109,000 MILES). I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC DONE WITH NO GUARANTEE THAT IT IS RELATED TO THE N23 RECALL.
