TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE GEAR, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A TREE. THE CONTACT INJURED HIS BACK AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR DIAGNOSED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 20,000.
ALL INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTS FLASH AS IF THE CAR HAS BEEN RESTARTED, ALL GAUGES ZERO OUT THEN RETURN TO NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND CAN NOT BE REPLICATED DURING SERVICE. CAR HAS SHUT DOWN 2 TIMES WHEN THIS HAPPENS DURING REGULAR DRIVING SPEEDS. *TR
2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES ARE CRACKING, THREE OUT OF FOUR ARE CRACKED AND NOW ONE IS INOPERABLE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE DOOR CAN'T BE OPENED FROM INSIDE. THE PLASTIC HAS BECOME BRITTLE AND CRACKS, THEN BREAKS OUT. IT IS NOT A SEPARATE PART AND IS PART OF THE ENTIRE DOOR PANEL. *TR
AFTER 2 HOURS OF HIGHWAY DRIVING FOLLOWED BY 20 MINUTES OF BUMPER TO BUMPER CRAWL. DECELERATED AND HIT BRAKES TO MAKE RIGHT TURN AT INTERSECTION. ENGINE FAILED, ALL ELECTRONICS DEAD. STOPPED, PUT VEHICLE IN PARK, STARTED ENGINE AND DROVE AWAY. *TR
EVERY TIME WE HAVE A RAIN STORM, THE FRONT FLOOR DRIVER'S SIDE GETS SOAKING WET. I HAVE TO LAY DOWN TOWELS TO DRY IT AND THEN LET THE SUN DO THE REST. IT HAS LEAKED SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN 2010 BUT KEEP WAITING FOR A RECALL. I FOUND A RECALL FOR A 2007 JEEP LIKE MINE FOR THE SAME LEAKAGE PROBLEM. IT APPEARS TO COME DOWN THE TRACT ON THE OUTSIDE AND RUNS IN UNDER THE CARPET ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE ONLY. I DON'T WANT IT TO MOLD OR RUST OUT MY FLOOR SO WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, HEADLIGHTS ON VEHICLE WENT OFF. BY FLASHING THE LIGHT SWITCH TO WHAT WOULD NORMALLY TURN ON THE BRIGHTS, THE LIGHTS WOULD COME BACK ON, REGULAR STRENGTH (NOT THE BRIGHTS). THIS HAPPENS REPEATEDLY EVERY TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN AT NIGHT, SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE NIGHT. *TR
ALL FOUR INSIDE DOOR HANDLES ARE CRACKED/BROKEN, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE HANDLE IS DANGLING MAKING IT HARD TO OPEN AND THE PASSENGER FRONT HANDLE SEEMS TO BE GOING IN THE SAME DIRECTION. THE TWO REAR HANDLE CASINGS ARE CRACKED AND HOPEFULLY WILL LAST BEING THE REAR SEATS ARE HARDLY USED. THIS COULD BECOME A VERY DANGEROUS EVEN LIFE THREATENING SITUATION IF IT BECOMES TOTALLY BROKEN OFF AND UNABLE TO OPEN IT IN AN EMERGENCY. SUPPOSEDLY CHRYSLER/JEEP CLAIMS THAT UNTIL MY CALL A FEW MONTHS AGO "THEY KNEW NOTHING OF THIS MATTER, NO ONE HAS REPORTED THIS PROBLEM". I KNOW IT'S NOT JUST ME AND AT $500 A DOOR PANEL IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. THERE HAS TO BE A RECALL TO THIS DOOR CASING CRACKING/BREAKING PROBLEM. PLEASE, PLEASE HELP! *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE SEEMED AS IF IT WOULD SHIFT GEARS ON ITS OWNS. THE CONTACT NOTICED THE PROBLEM EIGHT TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOTH A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP TO FIND THE CAUSE FOR FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 79,000.
AS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WOULD SWITCH INTO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN. I HAVE SEEN THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT IT DOES NOT INCLUDE OUR PARTICULAR VEHICLE (FOR WHATEVER REASON) BUT IT SHOULD. THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED FURTHER. *TR
3 OF 4 DOOR PANELS WITH DOOR HANDLE TO GET OUT OF VEHICLE HAS BROKEN IN SAME PLACE. DRIVER HAS TO GET OUT OF CAR TO OPEN THE 3 DOORS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE NO ONE CAN GET OUT OF THE CAR EXECPT THE DRIVER. THIS IS CAUSED MOST LIKELY DUE TO THE THIN PLASTIC HOLDING THE DOOR MECHANISM. ALSO IF COMPANY (JEEP) DID NOT USE UV PROTECTED PLASTIC THE SUN AND HI TEMPERATURES IN TEXAS MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE ENGINEERING FLAW. THE PLASTIC PIECE HOLDS THE ENTIRE HANDLE IN THE DOOR AND SHOULD HAVE USED A STIFNER TO SUPPROT IT PROPERLY. AS IS IF ACCIDENT WAS TO HAPPEN PASSENGERS WOULD BE STUCK IN VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DETERMINED THAT THE CAM SENSORS IN THE ENGINE WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHEN HE OPENED THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE, IT FELL ON HIS HEAD BECAUSE THE HYDRAULICS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE HYDRAULICS DO NOT WORK IN COLD WEATHER. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY $100. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CALLED AND CONFIRMED WHAT THE DEALER STATED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,362. UPDATED 11/16/10. *LJ
I HAVE A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE (2006). OVER THE PAST 5 YEARS, IT HAS INTERMITTENTLY HAD PROBLEMS. SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING AND AFTER STARTUP. THESE PROBLEMS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN LOSS OF GAUGES, FLASHING LIGHTS IN DASH, WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE TRACTION CONTROL OR BRAKES KICKING IN AND THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING? WHEN THIS FIRST STARTED HAPPENING I THOUGHT MAYBE THE COMPUTER HAD BEEN VIBRATED OR JOSTLED AND HAD A GLITCH. OVER TIME IT WOULD GO AWAY AND 6 MONTHS OR SO LATER HAPPEN AGAIN! I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO STOP THIS FROM HAPPENING, IE CHANGING PARTS AND TROUBLE SHOOTING THE PROBLEMS TO NO AVAIL. I THOUGHT I HAD THIS NARROWED DOWN TO A RUSTED CONNECTION FROM A GROUND WIRE CONNECTED TO THE BLOCK.....WRONG AGAIN! THIS MORNING I HAD MY 4 YEAR OLD SON IN THE JEEP AND WAS TAKING A LEFT AT A BUSY INTERSECTION. I CLEARLY HAD ENOUGH TIME TO MAKE THE TURN, BUT AS I WAS TURNING IT SOUNDED LIKE MY ANTI LOCK BRAKES WERE KICKING IN MID TURN WITH A CAR COMING RIGHT AT US! I MADE THE TURN PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ALL MY GAUGES WERE DEAD, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND ONLY THE GEAR SELECTOR WAS VISIBLE. I HAVE READ ON MANY JEEP RELATED FORUMS, THAT THIS IS NOT ONLY HAPPENING TO MY JEEP BUT MANY OTHERS! WHILE READING I HAVE NOTICED ONE THING. IN MANY CASES THESE PROBLEMS WERE SOLVED BY REPLACING THE IGNITION SWITCH! AFTER READING THIS I FURTHER RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AGAINST RECALLS. I FOUND THAT, ACCORDING TO THE WALL STREET JOURNAL, NY TIMES, USA TODAY AND FORBES, CHRYSLER IS ALLEGEDLY RECALLING THESE VEHICLES WITH FAULTY IGNITION SWITCHES. SO I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER. THEY LOOKED MY JEEP UP IN THEIR DATABASE AND TOLD ME THEY'RE WERE NO RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE AND THAT THEY HAVEN'T RECALLED ANY VEHICLES FOR FAULTY IGNITION SWITCHES. I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF THE NHTSA COULD HELP WITH SOME OF THESE PROBLEMS AND ANSWER SOME OF THESE QUESTION I AND MANY OTHERS HAVE. *TR

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: DURING THE DUSK\TWILIGHT HOURS ALL THE SYSTEM LIGHTS BEGIN TO 'BLINK\FLASH' OFF AND ON AS IF THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL SHORT. HEADLIGHTS, DASH LIGHTS ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS FLASH ON AND OFF. THIS ONLY OCCURS DURING 'DUSK OR TWILIGHT' HOURS. THE DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE. AT COMPLETE DARKNESS, IF I APPROACH A LIGHTED PARKING LOT OR ESTABLISHMENT IN ABOUT 3 TO 4 MINUTES THE LIGHTS WILL BEGIN TO FLICKER ON AND OFF. MY THOUGHT IS SOME LIGHT DIMMING SENSOR. AGAIN THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS NO ISSUES\ERROR CODES HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY EXTERIOR & INTERIOR LIGHTS REPEATEDLY FLASH ON AND OFF. IT RANDOMLY OCCURS WITH NO WAY FOR ME TO STOP IT. JEEP INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAVE NO TSB ON THE ISSUE AND NOTHING CAN BE DONE UNTIL THE PROBLEM CAN BE DUPLICATED AT ONE OF THEIR SERVICE DEPT. A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET ("FIX YA " WEB PAGE )REVEALED NUMEROUS 2006 JEEP CHEROKEE OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. AS OF NOW I AM LOST TO MY OPTIONS. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. 2 MONTHS AGO WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE LOOSES POWER. IT SEEMS TO DROP OUT OF GEAR. THE VEHICLE CANNOT ACCELERATE AND YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER AND HOPE IT WILL KICK BACK IN GEAR. I SPOKE WITH ANOTHER 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OWNER AND THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENS TO HIM AND ALSO ONE OF HIS FRIENDS. I WENT TO EDMUNDS.COM AND IT SEEMS THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM. WE CONTACTED JEEP AND THEY SAID SORRY IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED SAFETY PROBLEM. I HOPE YOU CAN PROTECT THE AMERICAN CITIZEN FROM THE SALE AND FUTURE USE OF FAULTY AUTOMOBILES. ALL EXTERIOR HEADLIGHTS (HIGH / LOW BEAMS AND PARKING LIGHTS) AND INTERIOR DASH LIGHTS TURN-OFF UNEXPECTEDLY AND WITHOUT WARNING WHICH IS CAUSING AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE SHOP NUMEROUS TIMES BUT THE PROBLEM DOES NOT DUPLICATE WHILE AT THE SHOP AS IT MAY HAPPEN 3 DAYS IN A ROW THEN, DISAPPEAR FOR A WEEK OR TWO. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE JANUARY OF 2010 AND STILL CONTINUES TO THIS DAY (NOVEMBER 2010) WITHOUT ANY RESOLVE. THE LIGHTS WILL TURN-OFF IN THE MORNING OR NIGHT AS THERE IS NO PATTERN. I TALKED TO JEEP DIRECTLY BUT, THEY STATE THEY DON'T HAVE ANY RECORDS OF THIS PROBLEM OR WILL NOT HELP WITH THE PROBLEM UNTIL ONE OF THEIR JEEP DEALERSHIPS CONTACTS THEM WITH A DIAGNOSIS PROBLEM, WHICH SEEMS VERY ODD THAT THEY ARE NOT OVERLY CONCERNED WITH THEIR PRODUCT.
I DROVE THROUGH SOME HEAVY RAIN AT APPROXIMATELY 3 P.M. ON DECEMBER 24, 2009. MY 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE QUIT. I HAD TO HAVE IT DECEMBER 28, 2009 I HAD IT TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP. OVER THE CHRISTMAS WEEK END, TWO MECHANICS ADVISED THE ENGINE HAD HYDROLOCKED. THE SHOP OWNER ADVISED THAT IT HAD HYDROLOCKED. THEN AFTER FILING AN INSURANCE CLAIM, HE ADVISED IT WAS NOT WATERT BUT HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED IT. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TALKED TO A SERVICE ADVISER AND SHE ADVISED IT HAD HYDROLODGED, A COMMON OCCURRENCE, COVERED BY INSURANCE. THEN, AFTER I TOOK IT THERE THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER WANTED THE ENGINE TORN DOWN AT MY EXPENSE. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE ONE DAY AND IT TOOK FOUR. THE MECHANIC ADVISED IT WAS NOT WATER BUT HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED IT. HE ADVISED THE SERVICE ADVISER IT DAMAGED THE STARTER, THE WATER PUMP, THE FIRST PISTON, NUMEROUS VALVE SPRINGS, AND CRACKED THE BLOCK. THIS IS AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. IT CAN NOT BE DRIVEN IN WATER. IN JULY AND OCTOBER IT STALLED IN WATER AND STARTED AGAIN. THIS JEEP HAS A MERCEDES ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION AND A EUROPEAN BATTERY. IT WAS NOT DISCLOSED WHEN I BOUGHT IT. THE BATTERY CAN NOT BE JUMPED. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED THE NIGHT THE BATTERY QUIT, FROM A RURAL AREA. IT IS NOT A MOPAR PRODUCT. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL BATTERY. THE ORIGINAL PARTS ARE AT THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE JEEP. I COMPLAINED TO THE CORPORATE OFFICE AND THEY DID NOT CARE. *TR
AT A STOP SIGN, SHORT OF THE CROSS WALK, WITH FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL CAR IN DRIVE WAITING FOR TRAFFIC TO CLEAR SO I CAN TURN RIGHT ON TO THE PRIMARY STREET. REMOVE FOOT FROM BRAKE AND 2006 JEEP CHEROKEE BEGINS TO MOVE BACKWARDS. THE IS NO INCLINE OR DECLINE AT THIS STOP SIGN TO ALLOW FOR GRAVITY TO MOVE CAR. HAD TO RE-APPLY BRAKE, PUT CAR INTO PARK. SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED BEFORE PROCEEDING. THIS SAME DIFFICULTY HAS NOW HAPPENED ON AT LEAST 6 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND DEALER REPORTS NO MECHANICAL ISSUE EVIDENT TO CAUSE AUTO TO MOVE ON ITS OWN IN REVERSE. YESTERDAY, IN THE OMAHA WORLD HERALD PAPER A STORY APPEARED DESCRIBING AN ACCIDENT WITH A 2005 JEEP CHEROKEE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHO STATED THAT IT WAS PROBABLY CAUSED BY THE GASOLINE CAP. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A MISFIRE IN THE ENGINE BUT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE WHERE. THE CONTACT THEN STATED THAT AFTER A FEW MONTHS, A CONSTANT CLOUD OF SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE TAIL PIPE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT ANTIFREEZE WAS MIXING WITH THE ENGINE OIL. THE CONTACT CONSULTED THE DEALERSHIP WHO STATED THAT THE ANTIFREEZE COULD NOT HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE LOCAL MECHANIC. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,800. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 42,000.
2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4X4 4.7L V8 WITH 27199 MILES. VEHICLE STALLED WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ACCOMPANIED BY A TOTAL LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER INCLUDING HEADLIGHTS. STEERING AND BRAKES WERE BOTH DIFFICULT TO USE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SLOW VEHICLE AND PULL ONTO SHOULDER. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION AND THERE WAS NO WARNING PRIOR TO THE EVENT. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THERE WERE NO CODES IN THE SYSTEM AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM AFTER TWO DAYS OF DIAGNOSIS AND ROAD TESTING. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS REPORTS OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS, AND THE 2006 JEEP COMMANDER WITH THE SAME ENGINE WAS RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH COOPER DISCOVERER H/T TIRES, SIZE: 245/65R17 (NA). THE CONTACT STATED THAT EVERY THREE YEARS ALL FOUR TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE RATED FOR 50,000 MILES BEFORE NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES WEE WEARING DOWN QUICKLY. THE TIRES WERE THE ORIGINAL TIRES ON THE VEHICLE. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.

THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH AND ABOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE - ALL SAFETY WARNING LIGHTS AS WELL AS ENGINE LIGHTS FLASH ON AND OFF, RPM GAUGE DROPS, ALL LIGHTS AROUND GEAR PANEL LIGHT, DOESN'T SEEM TO KNOW WHAT GEAR IT IS IN. SOMETIMES IT IS JUST THE LIGHTS ON THE PANEL FLASHING ON AND OFF. NO CODES READ WHEN TAKEN TO MECHANIC. PUT A NEW BATTER AND ALTERNATOR IN THE VEHICLE. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. MAY HAPPEN A FEW TIMES IN A ROW AND THEN GO AWAY FOR DAYS OR WEEKS. LOST POWER BRAKES AND STEERING AS WELL A FEW TIMES, LUCKILY NO ACCIDENTS RESULTED DUE TO LOSS OF POWER. THE GEAR LIGHTS LIT UP AND I HAD TO MANUALLY SHIFT IT BACK INTO AUTOMATIC. THE DEALERSHIP SCANNED THE CODE & DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A BAD SHIFTER CONTROL MODULE. THEY SAID I COULD CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT FOR A WHILE BUT IT WOULD EVENTUALLY NEED REPLACED. ESTIMATED COST FOR PART $747(EXCLUDING $78 IN LABOR). DROVE IT BUT REALIZED THAT IT WAS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY, MANY TIMES ON THE HIGHWAYS TRAVELING AT FAST SPEEDS. ALMOST WRECKED SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE THE PART MALFUNCTIONED WHEN TRYING TO SLOW DOWN WHEN THE ROADS WERE SNOW COVERED & ICY. THIS IS A SERIOUS & POTENTIALLY FATAL SAFETY PROBLEM FOR MYSELF & OTHERS ON THE ROAD THAT REQUIRES IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. THE INTERIOR DOOR PLASTIC THAT HOLDS THE DOOR HANDLE HAS CRACKED AND BROKEN CAUSING THE PARTS TO FALL, CAUSING THE DOOR TO BE ONLY OPENED FROM THE OUT SITE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO, 3.7L V6. I HAVE MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION, FIRST IT WAS THE SHIFTER, SECOND IT WAS A SOLENOID PROBLEM, NOW I HAVE A SHUTTER AND VIBRATION AS I AM DRIVING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY. I HAVE HAD IT IN 3 TIMES NOW FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN THE TRANNY STARTS TO VIBRATE, I NOTICE THAT THE RPMS GO UP ABOUT 2-3000RPMS. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE STATING THAT IGNITION SWITCH WAS DEFECTIVE AND RECALLED BACK IN LATTER PART OF 2014. I CONTACTED MCKINNEY TEXAS DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT PART AND WAS NOT AWARE OF WHEN THEY WOULD RECEIVE THEM. I EMAILED CHRYSLER IN NOVEMBER WITH ISSUE, I RECEIVED AN EMAIL STATING THEY WOULD PUT ME ON A LIST TO BE CONTACTED WHEN PART IS AVAILABLE.I EMAILED THEM AGAIN IN FEBRUARY WITH THE REPLY FROM THEM OF A SIMPLE WE DO NOT HAVE AN ESTIMATED TIME OF ARRIVAL ON PARTS. ON JANUARY 31, 2011 LEAVING DRIVEWAY OF PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT AND JEEP STARTING SHUTTERING AS IF IT WAS GOING TO STALL AND STALLED OUT AFTER ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HAD TOWED TO MECHANIC. 17 MONTHS INTO A 36 MONTH WARRANTY WITH 20,000 MILES ON THIS ENGINE, VALVE SPRING BROKE CAUSING ENTIRE ENGINE DAMAGE. JASPER IS REPLACING THIS ENGINE UNDER WARRANTY. ACCORDING TO JASPER, THEY HAVE REPLACED THREE ENGINES IN LAST THREE MONTHS DUE TO VALVE SPRING BREAKAGE. VALVE SPRING HAS NOT BEEN UPDATED. AFRAID THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN IF CHRYSLER DOES NOT UPDATE WITH NEWER STRONGER VALVE SPRING.

I HAVE A 2006 GRAND CHEROKEE WITH 30,000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD, THE STEERING GAVE OUT AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO CARS ON THE RIGHT - THE VEHICLE WAS GOING AROUND 15MPS. UPON INSPECTION THE ACTUAL INNER BALL JOINT THAT THREADS INTO THE POWER STEERING UNIT BROKE FREE CAUSING THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL TO CUT LOOSE. THE THREADS WERE STRIPPED OFF OF THE BALL JOINT THAT CONNECTS THE ROD INTO THE POWER STEERING UNIT. MY INSURANCE ADJUSTERS QUOTE DID NOT INCLUDE THE STEERING RACK/ROD AS HE DID NOT BELIEVE IT BROKE DUE TO THE IMPACT IN THE ACCIDENT. THE THREADS IN THE POWER STEERING UNIT ARE FINE. CHRYSLER'S INVESTIGATION DETERMINED ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE AND THERE WAS NO COMPONENT FAILURE. THE DAMAGE ON THE VEHICLE WAS ALL FRONT END (BUMPER, GRILL, ETC) AND THERE IS NO DAMAGE ON ANY OF THE STEERING COMPONENTS, JUST THE FAILED THREADS.
