My car is driving okay but it’s having some electrical issues and it shuts down.
When the airbag light comes on and is visible on the dashboard, this action shorts out the ac, heat, as well as the defroster. This airbag light is a constantly lit up and will not go out. I have been told that there is a problem with the clock spring on this vehicle. This has been an on going problem for several years now. So this tells me that when the airbag light comes on, the airbag does not work. This would become a hazard in a head on collision, which would cause the airbag not to deploy.
WIN Module failure
The contact owns a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the contact attempted to put the key into ignition; however, the key was inoperative. The contact stated that the key was intermittently was stuck in the ignition. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle remained at the residence. The contact researched and was made aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V567000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
Driver's heated seat fire burned holes in seat and burnt pants. Burnt marks shown to Jeep dealer and problem confirmed.
Just prior to a cross country trip, my airbag warning light came on. Upon arriving to our destination in Spring Hill, TN, I took my 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee to have it checked. Their diagnosis found a "squib" problem, and told me there was a recall and to take it to a Chrysler dealer. Today, the dealership showed me a "squib" or "clockspring" issue & told me there was no recall and that I would have to pay out of pocket to replace what seems to be the recall problem. Upon further research, I found online that there is indeed a recall. But after calling the phone number provided, (800-853-1403) they informed me that even though it might be the same problem I would have to pay out of pocket for the repair. I don't understand why. I just purchased this vehicle, in May 2023 and I have honestly had nothing but problems. I have no idea what is causing this but the speedometer/odometer does not work at all (all the lights and warning symbols work, cruise control doesn't work, TPM is lit up on the dash as I checked all the tires and all has same to, the key fob buttons worked when it wanted to (has NEW battery it was replaced 3'xs already) key fob would not stop alarm from going off most days and key fob would also not start my Jeep would have to keep trying before it did start and now IT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING. IT DOESN'T START DOESN'T TURN OVER NOTHING expect for the alarm going off non stop had to disconnect the horn and we pulled a relay to have it stop. We tried disconnecting the battery post to hopefully reset it, didn't work. I also had a res dot start blinking and I read up on all this and red dot is anti theft was activated. I been reading up on the reason and I keep getting the wireless control module and sentry key as the problem. I also seen that many other vehicles same as mine has had the same exact same problem. Some had theirs come up as a recall. Why is this vehicle listed as not having any recalls. Clearly something is going on with these vehicles that shouldn't be. I for one didn't cause this problem and I certainly can not afford to get this resolved on my own. I had my truck for only 2 weeks before it broke down. PLEASE HELP
The contact owns a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the driver’s side air bag warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the air bag was faulty and needed to be replaced. The local dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the air bag part had been discontinued and was no longer available. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 130,000.
Passenger mirror did not pass state safety inspection because it became cloudy from the automatic defroster mechanism. Vehicle inspector informed us this was the case, mirror has not been otherwise damaged in an accident, we will pay $500 to replace it. Component is available for inspection. Has been cloudy for several years, this is the first time it failed state inspection.

My vehicle has stopped 3 times this year without warning. Twice while I was driving and once while my daughter was driving. There is a click sound and the radio and everything on in the vehicle goes. The vehicle begins to slow down. Luckly when this happened there were no cars around so each time we are able to stop the vehicle wait a second and start the vehicle without an issue. This is a very dangerous issue and this needs to be fixed ASAP.
Clock spring shorts out the electrical system. It causes the AC and heat not to work and no blower motor. This could cause others problems as well

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL TO SLOW THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, AFTER THE FAILURE, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE CONTACT INFORMED A LOCAL MECHANIC OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000.

I WAS DRIVING THE OTHER DAY AND ALL THE SUDDEN I HIT A BUMP AND THE KEY FOB FALLS OUT OF THE IGNITION CUTTING THE ENGINE COMPLETELY OFF. SO I WAS COASTING WITH NO ENGINE OR POWER. LUCKILY I PUT IT IN TO NEUTRAL AND IT STARTED BACK UP. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS. ALSO MY KEY WILL NOT RELEASE WHEN I AM TRYING TO TURN THE CAR OFF SO I HAVE TO LEAVE IT ON SOMETIMES AND IT HAS KILLED MY BATTERY. MOST OF THE TIME IT WILL RELEASE AFTER A CLICKING NOISE I CAN TURN IT TO THE OFF POSITION AND IT WILL RELEASE. IT HAS COST ME TWO BATTERIES AND A NEW KEY
THE CAR WILL NOT START WITH IGNITION FOB. THIS HAPPENS UNPREDICTABLY. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS FOR A LONG TIME. WE THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY BUT NOW, WITH A NEW BATTERY IT STILL OFTEN WILL NOT START. IF WE WAIT FOR SOME UNKNOWN PERIOD OF TIME IT EVENTUALLY CRANKS AND STARTS. WE NEVER KNOW WHEN AND IF WE CAN LEAVE OR VISA VERSA FOR RETURNING HOME. WHEN EVER THIS HAPPENS THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY IN LEGAL PARKING PLACE. HOWEVER, IT HAS CUT OFF WILL DRIVING.
TOOK OUR JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THE KEY FOB KEPT GETTING STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND WOULDN'T RELEASE. THEY SAID IT WAS THE WIN MODULE THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THE KEY WOULD HAVE TO BE REPROGRAMMED FOR THAT WIN MODULE! WELL, SINCE THEN, WE'VE NOTICED THAT WHEN WE ARE ABLE TO GET THE KEY OUT (FROM HITTING ABOVE THE IGNITION TO GET IT TO RELEASE, OR WAITING AN HOUR FOR IT TO EJECT ON IT'S OWN) THE RADIO WILL KEEP PLAYING, SO WE HAVE TO TURN IT OFF, ALL OF THE DASH LIGHTS STAY ON, IT STILL DINGS IF THE DOOR IS OPEN AND ACTS LIKE THE KEY IS IN IT AFTER BEING REMOVED. NOW WE'RE RUNNING INTO MORE ISSUES WHILE WE'RE DRIVING WHERE IT STARTS GLITCHING AND THE COMPUTER MAKES ALL KINDS OF TERRIBLE SCARY SOUNDS AND HAS ACTUALLY POWERED DOWN ON US! NOW THE BATTERY IS DEAD AND WON'T START EVEN WITH A JUMP! MOST ISSUES STARTED OUT WHILE IN PARK AND JUST TRYING TO REMOVE KEY FOB, THAT LASTED A FEW MONTHS AND IT STILL DROVE FINE. UNFORTUNATELY, THE ISSUES HAVE CONTINUALLY GOTTEN WORSE AND I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT WITH MY FAMILY SINCE IT POWERED DOWN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET!
THE KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE KEY GETS STUCK ALL THE TIME. VEHICLE STARTS PROPERLY, BUT DOES NOT SHUT OFF CORRECTLY SINCE THE KEY IS STUCK IN THE VEHICLE. TAKES SEVERAL HOURS TO UNTIL KEY CAN BE TAKEN OUT PROPERLY AND VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY TURNED OFF THE RIGHT WAY.
WENT IN TO THE STORE CAME OUT PUT MY KEY IN AND IT DOES NOT START ALL THE DASH LIGHTS COME HAD IT TOWED HOME MY SON CAME OVER PUT KEY IN AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP ONE WEEK LATER THE SAME THING HAPPEN IT NOT READING MY KEY ALL THE TIME
PAINT PEELING OFF ON ROOF. PAYED A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS JEEP, NEVER HAD A PAINT PROBLEM ON ANY JEEP OR CAR I HAD BEFORE, GOING TO COST ME 1,258.00 TO FIX, STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON THIS JEEP, SHOULD BE RECALLED, I AM NOT HAPPY, DON'T THINK I AM GETTING ANOTHER JEEP, THIS IS MY 4 TH, AND I LOVE THEM. BUT.
FOB FALLING OUT OF IGNITION SWITCH. CAR WAS IN DRIVE BUT WAS NOT BEING DRIVEN AS WAS STOPPED AT GATE WHICH WAS OPENING. WHEN FOB FELL OUT ENGINE STOPPED. HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES NOW. THE DESCRIBED WAS THE MOST RECENT. VERY DSNGEROUS. WE PLAN TO TAKE IT TO DEALER.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CAR LINE (3335 JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY, STAFFORD, VA 22554) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHOCKS AND CONTROL ARMS HAD FRACTURED DUE TO THE RUST. IN ADDITION, THE FRAME AND SUSPENSION WERE SEVERELY RUSTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE PULLEYS, SHOCKS, BRAKES, AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.
VEHICLE RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND THE STEERING IS LOST. THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AND HAS HAPPENED AT 60MPH AS WELL AS 35. THERE IS NO WARNING BEFORE IT HAPPENS. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
TAKATA RECALL - AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT BEGAN BEING INTERMITTENT WHEN TRAVELING ON SECONDARY ROADS AND HIGHWAYS. IT IS NOW LIT AT ALL TIMES. I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE SPEED CONTROL OPERATOR LEVER.
VEHICLE WILL LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING. SOMETIMES WILL LOOSE POWER WHILE PULLING OUT. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN PULLING ONTO THE HIGHWAY. HAVE TO PULL TO SHOULDER TO AVOID BEING REAR ENDED.
VEHICLE TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING, LOSS OF BRAKES, STEERING AND PROPULSION IS LOSS. VEHICLE DOES THIS RANDOMLY AND IT IS NOT THE FIRST TIME.
RIGHT REAR TURN SIGNAL BECAME TOTALLY INOPERATIVE AFTER WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. BULB AND BULB SOCKET CONNECTOR WAS REPLACED, FUSES WERE CHECKED. HAZARD LIGHT WILL NOT FUNCTION ON THIS BULB ALTHOUGH DRIVING LIGHT FUNCTION WORKS ON THIS BULB INDICATING BULB IS NOT THE ISSUE. ALSO, DRIVER'S SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WILL NOT SHUT OFF AFTER IGNITION TURNED OFF. RECEIVED CODE B162B INDICATING POSSIBLE ISSUE WITH THE 'INTEGRATED POWER MODULE' ALSO REFERRED TO AS THE 'TIPM'. NOT HAVING A WORKING TURN SIGNAL CREATES AN EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS SITUATION AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE DEALER. FAULTY TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHT ISSUES ARE CHARACTERISTIC OF THE TIPM THAT WAS INSTALLED IN THESE VEHICLES BY CHRYSLER FOR WHICH AN IMMEDIATE SAFETY RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED.
HAVE OWNED USED 2009 JEEP GRD.CHRKE. FOR 10 MONTHS 2 MONTHS IN TO OWNING NOTICED AT TIMES VEHICLE WOULD LOOSE POWER. PRESSING GAS PEDAL DID NOTHING. HAD TO PULL OVER SHUT JEEP OFF, WAIT A MINUTE THEN START JEEP BACK UP. THIS WORKED AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. BUT OVER THE MONTHS IT BECAME MORE FREQUENT. I TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER AND HE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. NO CODES FROM ENGINE. I HAVE HAD THE NECESSARY MAINTENANCE DONE ON THE JEEP. THIS WEEK THE PROBLEM BEGAN ON FRIDAY AND CONTINUES ON. MY JEEP WILL NOT GO OVER 25 MPH. TAKING IT TO AUTHORIZED DEALER AND JEEP REPAIR ON MONDAY. BUT HAVING READ THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE I HAVE VERY LITTLE FAITH THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIX!!! EVEN THOUGH MY COMPLAINT MIMICS SEVERAL OF THE COMPLAINTS SENT IN TO THOSE THAT MANUFACTURER JEEPS!!!
VEHICLE SHIFTS INTO LOWER2ND GEAR WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ACCORDING TO OWNERS MANUAL THIS IS CALLED LIMP MODE AND NEEDS TO BE STOPPED PLACED IN PARK AND TURN IGNITION OFF AND RESTARTED TO CONTINUE DRIVING THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME AND OTHERS
TRANSMISSION WILL DISENGAGE WHILE DRIVING AT ANY GIVEN SPEED. THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT IT IS TO COAST TO A STOP, PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK THEN SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART. ONLY THEN WILL CAR BECOME DRIVABLE AGAIN. THIS IS EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS WHEN ON THE INTERSTATE OR EXPRESSWAY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND A CODE P2767 IS ALWAYS PRESENT WHEN THIS OCCURS. MY JEEP MECHANIC SAYS ITS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR AS THE TRANSMISSION HAS AN INTERNAL SERVO SHORT AND HAS TO BE DISASSEMBLED TO REPAIR IT. MY JEEP ONLY HAS 56,685 ON THE ODOMETER. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND I AM TOLD IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL TRANSMISSION. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED TRYING TO COAST TO A STOP OR ACCELERATING TO GET ONTO A INTERSTATE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SHUTS DOWN. HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED. TURNING, GOING STRAIGHT, HIGHWAY OR RURAL ROADS, BUMPS OR NO BUMPS, UPHILL OR DOWNHILL. COMES WITHOUT WARNING. ENGINE RPMS INCREASE BUT CAR IS JUST COASTING.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE LOST AIR QUICKLY AND ABRUPTLY. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THAT THE VALVE STEM ON THE TIRE HAD FAILED AND FRACTURED APART. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VALVE STEMS ON THE VEHICLE HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ONE OTHER TIME, WITH THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. THE CONTACT SPOKE TO WORLD JEEP CHRYSLER DODGE RAM 681 SHREWSBURY AVE, SHREWSBURY, NJ 07702 WHO STATED THAT THE CONTACT SHOULD SPEAK TO GOODYEAR, THE TIRE MANUFACTURER. THE TIRE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE CONTACT SHOULD SPEAK TO THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER AS THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE VALVE STEMS OR RIMS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, STATED THAT THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THE MATTER, AND PROVIDED THE NUMBER TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,850. UPDATED 10/05/17*LJ *TR
MY VEHICLE HAS UNDER 65K MILES AND HAS GONE THROUGH 3 RACK AND PINION UNITS UNDER WARRANTY. THEY GO OUT EVERY 20K MILES OR SO. EACH TIME THEY DO, STEERING BECOMES LOOSE AND UNPREDICTABLE AND HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE IS NOT UNIQUE TO MY VEHICLE AS I HAVE READ OF MANY OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE CORE ISSUE, THE RACK AND PINION UNIT IN THIS VEHICLE IS PRONE TO FAILURE AND NEEDS TO BE PERMANENTLY ADDRESSED. MY CURRENT RACK AND PINION UNIT WAS REPLACE JUST OVER A YEAR AGO, LESS THAN 6000 MILES AND IS ALREADY FAILING AGAIN. UNFORTUNATELY I DID NOT MAINTAIN ALL OF MY DOCUMENTATION AS I HAD NO IDEA THIS WOULD BE AN ONGOING CONCERN.

CAR IN PARK, REMAINS ON AFTER KEY HAS BEEN TURNED OFF AND REMOVED. KEY IS NEW AND REPLACED THIS YEAR. APPEARS TO BE SOMETHING IN THE IGNITION/ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.
09 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ELECTRICAL ISSUE - SECOND OCCURRENCE: LOST ALL DASH GAUGES, SPEEDOMETER, LIGHTING, RADIO, TURN SIGNALS, NO BRAKE LIGHTS AND HEAT/AC WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALER WITH THE ISSUE SHOWING. I WAS TOLD THAT SOMEONE WOULD LOOK AT THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER, I HAD TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE DEALER OVERNIGHT. IT APPEARS THE DEALER DID NOT LOOK AT THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. DEALER RETURNED THE VEHICLE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. TOLD TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS AGAIN. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR SAFETY CONCERNS. THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT TO NHTSA.
EVERY TIME I FUEL MY CAR FUEL BACKS UP THE THE FUEL FILLER NECK AND SPILLS ALL OVER THE GROUND THIS SEEM TO BE A PROBLEM NOT ONLY IN JEEP CHEROKEES BUT IN THE WRANGLER TOO FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A EVERY FUEL UP ONGOING PROBLEM
WHILE DRIVING, THE IGNITION SWITCH GOES INTO ACCESSORY AND THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF..JEEP HAS NO POWER STEERING OR POWER TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THIS SCARED THE "H" OUT OF MY WIFE YESTERDAY WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC ACROSS A BRIDGE GOING TO WORK. SHE WAS TRAVELING APROX. 45 MPH ACROSS A STRAIGHT BRIDGE. THIS SAME THING HAPPENED TO MYSELY LAST YEAR WHILE ON THE PA TURNPIKE IN TRAFFIC. I PUT THE FLASHERS ON AND SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED THE JEEP WITHOUT MUCH SERIOUS PROBLEMS. BUT NOW A SECOND TIME !!! I DON'T WANT ANYBODY TO GET HURT BECAUSE OF THIS
AT TIMES, THE IGNITION SWITCH TURNS OFF UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING. ALSO, WHEN STARTING, THE IGNITION SWITCH WILL, AT TIMES, TURN OFF, RESULTING IN A FAILURE TO REMAIN RUNNING.
4 ISSUES: 1.VEHICLE WILL NOT RESTART RIGHT AWAY AFTER THE KEY FOB HAS BEEN TURNED OFF AND SOMETIMES I HAVE TO GET OUT AND DISENGAGE THE BATTERY FOR IT TO START AGAIN. 2. KEY FOB WILL COME OUT OF IGNITION WHEN IT IS TURNED TO ACCESSORY. 4. KEY FOB IS ABLE TO COME OUT WHEN VEHICLE IS RUNNING. 3. SOMETIMES KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF IGNITION IF IT LOCKS UP. THERE ARE RECALLS ON THIS PROBLEM WITH JEEPS BUT FOR SOME REASON NOT MY VEHICLE. I DID HAVE IT FIXED AT THE JEEP DEALER BUT IT IS DOING THE SAME THING AFTER $600.00 . THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE WHEN THE KEY COMES OUT OF THE IGNITION BEFORE TURNING VEHICLE OFF.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
I HAVE MICHILEN TIRES WHICH ARE LAODED WITH DRY ROT CRACKS. THERE IS PLENTY OF THREAD STILL LEFT ON TIRES BUT NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO ROT ON THETIRES I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH FLAT TIRES. THE VALVE STEM ARE LITERALLY BREAKING OFF WHEN ADDING AIR TO MY TIRES. SO JEEP KNEW OF THIS PROBLEM WITH BAD VALVE STEM IN 2008 YET THEY KEPT USING THEM IN 2009?????????? HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO HAVE BLOW OUTS/ACCIDENTS BEFORE SOMEONE IS HELD ACCOUNTABLE???????????
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE CAR LOOSES THE ABILITY TO STEER AND DROPS INTO NEUTRAL. THE DEALERSHIP SWEARS THAT THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I TOOK IT IN FOR THE N23 RECALL TODAY AND AS I WAS DRIVING INTO THE DEALERSHIP IT HAPPENED AGAIN - YET THEY STILL COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. NOW I'M WORRIED THAT MY 4WD WON'T WORK

THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
UPPER RADIATOR HOSE ELBOW FAILED ALLOWING IMMEDIATE LOSS OF ALL COOLANT FLUID. THE BARB ON THE END OF THE PLASTIC ELBOW BROKE OFF ALLOWING THE HOSE TO SLIP OFF THE ELBOW. THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AND RESULTED IN IMMEDIATE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND OVERHEATING OF ENGINE. THE DRIVING WAS BEING DONE BY A FIRESTONE TECHNICIAN THAT WAS TEST DRIVING THE VEHICLE AFTER A FRONT END ALIGNMENT. VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE LAMPS,WITH AUTOMATIC HEADLAMP LEVELING SYSTEM,THE SYSTEM HAS BECOME IN OPERATIVE AND HEAD LIGHTS DO NOT SEARCH OUT FAR ENOUGH TO PROVIDE A SAFE VIEWING AREA ON LOW BEAM. A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE WITH NIGHT DRIVING.
IGNITION SWITCH TURNS OFF UNEXPECTEDLY. HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING CAUSING VEHICLE TO SHUT DOWN. HAS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. OCCURS WHILE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MOTION, AT VARIOUS SPEEDS ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS. DEALER TOLD ME THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SWITCH ON OTHER MODEL YEARS BUT NOT MINE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (GOLLING CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM, 2405 S TELEGRAPH RD, BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI 48302, (248)-334-3600) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WIN MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,000.
