VEHICLE STALLED ON A BUSY ROAD WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. I WAS DECELERATING APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND LOST POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES AND ENGINE SHUT DOWN. AFTER PLACING VEHICLE INTO PARK I WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS. THE DEALERSHIP IS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE OR TAKE FURTHER ACTION TO CORRECT THE ISSUE.
FIRE STARTED IN PASSENGER SUN VISOR. RECALL P36 WAS REPAIRED ON 2/18/15.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATED FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,700. MA 10/15/2015 *CN
WHILE TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF 55 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR, THE CHARGING SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON AND SECONDS LATER THE CAR KILLED. ALL POWER WAS LOST AND THANKFULLY I WASN'T IN AN INTERSECTION OR ANYTHING AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TOWARDS THE SHOULDER. VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AFTER. GOT SOMEONE TO TRY TO JUMP IT OFF BUT IT WOULD DIE AS SOON AS WE WOULD TAKE THE CABLES OFF. HAD BATTERY TESTED AND IT WAS FINE SO PULLED THE ALTERNATOR AND IT WAS DEAD. NEVER HEARD OF HAVING TO REPLACE AN ALTERNATOR ON A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY FOUR YEARS OLD.
WATER SLOSHING SOUND ON START STOP. SOUNDS LIKE IT IS UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT. BROUGHT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID LOTS OF WATER WAS IN THE FLOORPAN UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT. THEY THINK IT IS COMING FROM OUTSIDE VIA THE HEATER BOX. IT IS NOT A CLOGGED AC TUBE BECAUSE THEY CHECKED THAT
7/27/15 I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE I WAS GOING TO TURN INTO THE PARKING SPACE. I WAITED UNTIL A VAN PASSED AND AGAIN, WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP. I GENTLY PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL WHEN WITHIN SECONDS THE CAR TOOK OFF ON ITS OWN. WITHIN SECONDS MY CAR REVVED ON ITS OWN AND TOOK OFF; SLAMMING ME INTO A CONCRETE WALL BARRIER THAT SAVED ME FROM DRIVING INTO A DRY CLEANING STORE WINDOW.DURING THIS ENTIRE TIME, MY FOOT BARELY PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND MY CAR TOOK OFF. THANKFULLY A MAN CAME TO ME AND TOLD ME TO JUST PUT THE CAR IN PARK AS I WAS HITTING THE BREAK AND MY WHEELS WERE STILL SPINNING. THE BARRIER WAS LITERALLY KEEPING ME FROM GOING THROUGH THE LARGE WINDOW. IT WASN'T UNTIL THEN THAT MY CAR STOPPED. ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT I WAS GOING 5 MPH. IF THIS WAS THE CASE, WHY DID I CRACK THE CONCRETE BARRIER, BURN RUBBER INTO THE ASPHALT SO MUCH THAT MY WHEELS MADE DEEP BLACK MARKS ON THE ROAD AND MY ENTIRE FRONT BUMPER ALL THE WAY TO THE RAILS WERE COMPLETELY CRUSHED. WOULD 5MPH CAUSE $7,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE? I DON'T THINK SO. IN ADDITION MY SEATBELT DID NOT LOCK UPON IMPACT. MY HEAD SLAMMED INTO THE STEERING WHEEL BEFORE THE SEATBELT LOCKED RESULTING IN WHIPLASH. MY AIR BAG ALSO DID NOT DEPLOY. AT THE RATE I WAS GOING AND WITH THE FORCE OF IMPACT I HIT THE BARRIER WITH THERE WAS NO REASON FOR MY SEATBELT NOT TO INSTANTLY LOCK AND MY AIRBAG NOT DEPLOY TO PROTECT MY HEAD AND NECK. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY BEING FIXED BUT I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH THAT CAR NOR SELLING IT TO ANYONE ELSE, LEST THIS HAPPEN. WHAT IF A FAMILY BUYS THIS CAR AND DIES DUE TO THIS? I KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE AND I WANT SOMEONE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND ADMIT THERE IS SOMETHING GOING ON WITH THESE CARS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL ODOR COMING FROM THE VENTS OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR CAUGHT FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THERE WERE SMOKE INHALATION INJURIES SUSTAINED THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
WHEN STOPPED TRYING TO START THE ENGINE, PUSH BUTTON STARTER WILL NOT START THE CAR. HAVE TO TURN THE SWITCH TO GET A RESTART. SOMETIMES TAKES SEVERAL TRIES. HAVE HAD ENGINE NOT CUT OFF WHEN BUTTON PUSHED. HAD TO REPEAT SEVERAL TIME TO GET ENGINE TO STOP.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I'VE BEEN IN MY HOME WHICH HAS A CONNECTED GARAGE AND GONE OUT IN THE GARAGE TO FIND THE ENGINE RUNNING AND I KNOW FOR SURE IT WAS OFF WHEN PARKED. I BELIEVE THE ISSUE IS WITH THE KEY FOB AND OTHER ITEMS IN MY POCKET IT'S POSSIBLE TO INADVERTENTLY CAUSE THE KEY FOB'S REMOTE START TO BE PUSHED IN THE SEQUENCE NEEDED TO REMOTELY START THE VEHICLE. AT THAT POINT THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING AND YOU HAVE NO IDEA. THIS COULD RESULT IN DEATH IF THE DOOR TO THE GARAGE LEAKS AND THERE'S A BUILD UP OF CARBON MONOXIDE. I'VE ALSO EXPERIENCED BEEPS FROM THE CARS HORN LIKE YOU RECEIVE WHEN LOCKING THE VEHICLE WITH THE KEY FOB SO I KNOW IT WAS MOST LIKELY INADVERTENTLY STARTED. VERY UNSAFE.
JEEP GC2011 STALLS WHILING DRIVING. ONGOING SINCE 2012; MECHANICS HAVE DONE A LOT OF SERVICE AND REPAIR VERY COSTLY OUT OF MY POCKET EXPENCES BUT HAS NOT FIXED THE STALLING. SAYS IT MAYBE THE ALTERNATOR, THROTTLE OR IGNITION PROBLEM. THE 2011 MODEL SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE CHRYSLER RECALL #T36 (NHTSA #17V435).
WHILE MOTORING ALONG, MY WIFE AND I NOTICED AN ACRID SMELL WHICH BECAME MORE AND MORE INTENSE UNTIL OUR EYES BEGAN TO BURN AND IT BECAME CLEAR THAT THE ACRID SMELL WAS FROM OUR OWN VEHICLE, AND NOT FROM ANOTHER SOURCE SUCH AS SOME OTHER VEHICLE DRIVING AHEAD OF US. WE PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND IMMEDIATELY WE SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE PASSENGER-SIDE SUN VISOR WHICH WAS IS THE UP POSITION. WE SHUT THE CAR OFF AND FLIPPED DOWN THE SUN VISOR TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON, AND THE VISOR BROKE OFF AS WE DID SO. SPARKS AND MOLTEN METAL BEGAN DRIPPING FROM WIRES WHICH PROTRUDED FROM THE HEADLINER. IT WAS CLEAR BY THE AMOUNT OF SMOKE THAT THE HEADLINER ITSELF WAS ON FIRE IN BETWEEN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND THE ROOF PANEL, AND ALMOST IMMEDIATELY FLAMES BURNED THROUGH THE HEADLINER MATERIAL. BY PUREST CHANCE A POLICE VEHICLE DROVE BY AT THAT MOMENT; WE FLAGGED THE OFFICER DOWN AND HE PRODUCED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER FROM HIS VEHICLE AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE FLAMES WERE SPREADING SO QUICKLY THAT IT WAS CLEAR THAT, HAD THE OFFICER NOT HAPPENED BY AT THAT MOMENT, OUR VEHICLE WOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND THEY DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY TO INSURE THERE COULD BE NO FURTHER ELECTRICAL FIRE AND THAT IT WAS SAFE TO TOW AWAY THE VEHICLE. IN 2014 WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM JEEP (REAL P36) WHICH CITED A POSSIBLE RISK OF FIRE DUE TO RESISTANCE IN THE WIRING OF THE VANITY LAMP.THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED BY OUR LOCAL DEALER IN DECEMBER, 2014.
ALTERNATOR FAILURE DIAGNOSED AS FAULTY REGULATOR BY MECHANIC. SYMPTOMS BEGAN SPONTANEOUSLY WHEREIN VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. AFTER CHARGING OR JUMP STARTING VEHICLE, BATTERY WOULD AGAIN GO DEAD AFTER VEHICLE SAT OFF/NOT RUNNING FOR A FEW HRS (LESS THAN 8).

THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO STEER THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP AND THEN STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V530000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THE WRINKLES IN THE LEATHER DASH COULD CAUSE AN IRREGULAR PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. THIS CONCERNS ME GREATLY.
WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH ON THE FREEWAY THE ESC LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN MY ENGINE STALLED, POWER STEERING AND BRAKES SHUT OFF. I HAD TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SLOWLY COAST TO THE EXIT! WITH MY TWO KIDS (BOTH UNDER 4) IN THE CAR. TALK ABOUT SCARY!!!! I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A JEEP SERVICE CENTER AND AFTER 4 DAYS WITH MY CAR - THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE NOR FIND ANY ISSUES. I HAD TO PAY $200.00 FOR THAT ANSWER.WHICH I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH!!! THEN TODAY (JULY 12, 2015) WHILE SLOWING DOWN AT A STOP LIGHT - THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN!!!!!
THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN THE SHOP FOR THREE RECALLS AND WHEN I PICKED IT UP THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN THE SHOPS PICK UP BAY AND WOULD NOT START. THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR ONE WEEK AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP ON JUNE 29, 2015, AND IT STARTED. ON JULY 6, 2015, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO DO THE SAME THING IT DID NOT START. I CALLED CHRYSLER THE OPERATOR SAID THAT I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE SHOP OURISMAN CHRYSLER DODGE AND TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. I STARTED THE SAME TICKET THAT I HAD BEFORE. THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM UNTIL I HAD THE RECALLS DONE. I HAVE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED INTO THE SHOP.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 89,627. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE STALLED, WILL NOT START FROM TIME TO TIME, I NOTICE SEVERAL COMPLAINANTS ONLINE ON THE SAME. THE COMPLAINANTS HAD TAKEN VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR ADD MET WITH NEGATIVE RESULTS EACH TIME THE CONSISTENT FIX WAS FUEL PUMP & FUEL RELAY BUT THIS DID NOT REPAIR VEHICLE THESE WERE DEALER FIXES.

A TRACTOR-TRAILER LABELLED WITH ENTERPRISE RENT A CAR SIGNAGE WITH ONE SIGN ON THE DOOR LABELLED B UNIT HOME DELIVERY PARKED ILLEGALLY AT LUCAS AND 13TH ST WAS BLOCKING BOTH GARAGE OPENINGS FOR MY BUILDING, THE BOGEN. THE DRIVER COULD EASILY HAVE PULLED UP BUT WAS OBVIOUSLY TOO LAZY. APPARENTLY THE DRIVER HAD REMAINED IN THE VEHICLE THE ENTIRE TIME BUT WAS TOO DISTRACTED TO NOTICE THAT HE WAS IN THE WAY. WHEN THE LUMPER CAME OUT WITH HIS DOLLY. INSTEAD OF INSTRUCTING THE DRIVER TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY, HE CALMLY PUT AWAY HIS DOLLY AND TOLD ME TO GET BACK INTO MY CAR AS THEY WOULD BE LEAVING IN A MOMENT. WHEN I ASKED HIM THE NAME OF THE COMPANY, HE REFUSED TO ANSWER. I THEN NOTICED THE VEHICLE HAD NO REAR TAG (LICENSE OR DOT NUMBER) AT ALL. AS I FOLLOWED THE TRUCK AROUND THE CORNER SO THAT I COULD FINALLY GET ONTO TUCKER, I SAW THE THE DRIVER IN HIS MIRROR, LAUGHING. I FIND NOTHING FUNNY ABOUT SUCH IRRESPONSIBLE BEHAVIOR AND SUSPECT THAT THIS COMPANY HAS NO REAR IDENTIFICATION SO THAT THEY CANNOT BE IDENTIFIED IF THEY CAUSE DAMAGE OR DO OTHER RECKLEESS THINGS.
JEEP WAS TAKEN IN FOR THE P54 FUEL PUMP RELAY RECALL ON 6/12/15. NEXT MORNING AFTER RETURNING FROM DEALER, THE ENGINE WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START. THIS PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT, AND THE ENGINE WOULD SOMETIMES START AFTER 15-30 MINUTES OF TRYING. EVENTUALLY ON 6/15/15 IT WOULDN'T START ALL MORNING SO WAS TOWED BACK TO DEALER. THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE PROBLEM AND RELEASED CAR BACK TO ME DOING NOTHING. INTERMITTENT NO START CONTINUED FOR WEEKS, CAR TAKEN BACK TO DEALER ON 7/6/15 AND THEY REPLACED WIN MODULE, ANOTHER COMPONENT OF IGNITION SYSTEM. NEXT MORNING, 7/7/15, CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN. INTERMITTENT CRANK/NO START CONDITION CONTINUED TO OCCUR FOR WEEKS, CAR TAKEN BACK TO DEALER ON 7/22/15. THIS TIME DEALER SPENT ALMOST 3 WEEKS WORKING ON THE PROBLEM. FIRST, THE FUEL PUMP RELAY (THE RECALL PART ALREADY REPLACED ONCE) WAS DETERMINED TO BE FAULTY AND WAS REPLACED. THIS DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM, AND THE TIPM WAS SAID TO BE CAUSING THE CONDITION, AND WAS REPLACED ON 8/10/15. JEEP WORKED FOR A WEEK UNTIL TODAY, 8/15/15, WHILE DRIVING DOWN A BUSY LONG ISLAND ROAD CAR STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING ~30 MPH. MY WIFE AND OUR 4 MONTH OLD BABY WERE IN THE CAR, AND I WAS SOMEWHAT TERRIFIED. THERE WAS TRAFFIC SURROUNDING US, AND I WAS LEFT WITH NO POWER TO THE BRAKES OR STEERING. LUCKILY I WAS ALREADY IN THE RIGHT LANE AND WAS ABLE TO PUT HAZARDS ON AND PULL OVER SLOWLY WITHOUT INCIDENT. IF THERE HAD BEEN A RED LIGHT OR SUDDEN BRAKING IN FRONT OF ME HOWEVER, THE SITUATION WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH DIFFERENT. AFTER PULLING OVER, CAR CRANKED/NO START AS IT HAS PREVIOUSLY FOR THE PAST MONTHS, AND DID SO FOR 20 MINUTES UNTIL FINALLY STARTED AND DROVE IT HOME. I HAVE HAD OUR JEEP IN THE SHOP 4 TIMES FOR WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE ISSUE DESCRIBED IN THE FUEL PUMP RELAY RECALL, BUT WE ARE STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM! I AM AT MY WITS END, AND NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE.

I HAVE A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND. THERE ARE CURRENTLY 42,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. I WENT TO A SHOP AND TRIED TO HAVE THE RACK AND PINION REPLACED. AND I WAS TOLD THE ALL THE FOUR AXLE SPINDLES ARE RUSTED SO BADLY. THE PROFESSIONAL IN THE SHOP HAD TO SPEND LOT MORE HOUR TO FIGURE OUT AN OTHER WAY TO REMOVE THE PARTS WITHOUT TOUCHING THE SPINDLES. I RECEIVED NOTICE BY MAIL IN DECEMBER THAT MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAD A RECALL (P36 SUN VISOR WIRING) AND THERE WAS A RISK OF FIRE DUE TO A WIRING ISSUE. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK MY CAR TO DADELAND DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP IN MIAMI, FL TO GET THE RECALL FIXED.
