THE PROBLEM STARTED INITIALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE REFUSED TO START OCCASIONALLY. THEN IT BECAME INCREASINGLY MORE FREQUENT. THEN IT CAME TO THE POINT THAT THE CAR WOULDN'T START AT ALL. IT WAS DISCOVERED THE TIPM HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED FOR A TOTAL AMOUNT OF $1451.78. *TR

CAR WOULD NOT START ON FIRST ATTEMPT AND PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE REQUIRING MORE ATTEMPTS OVER SEVERAL DAYS. CAR WOULD START AND QUICKLY STALL. REPLACEMENT OF FUEL PUMP RELAY FIXED THE ISSUE. *TR
VEHICLE (RECENTLY PURCHASED USED) WOULD NOT START WHEN PUSHING START BUTTON IN VEHICLE. THE FIRST DAY IT WOULD START USING REMOTE START ON FOB. HOWEVER, THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN NEXT DAY AND WOULD NOT START FROM INSIDE CAR OR USING REMOTE OUTSIDE CAR. IT APPEARED TO START REMOTELY BUT WOULD DIE WITHIN SECONDS. WHEN TRYING TO START FROM INSIDE ENGINE WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START. AFTER SEVERAL START ATTEMPTS, I COULD SMELL FUEL. AFTER 20 MINUTES AND PROBABLY 15 ATTEMPTS, ENGINE STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO RETURN HOME. HAVE BEEN AFRAID TO DRIVE VEHICLE SINCE AFTER READING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON INTERNET. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS 2011 MODEL RELATING DIRECTLY TO THIS PROBLEM, BUT ONLY FOR VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BEFORE 7/20/2010. THIS VEHICLE SHOWS A MANUFACTURE DATE OF 9/2010. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AND IS BEING INVESTIGATED FOR DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP RELAY IN TIPM. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR. *TR

IN OCTOBER 2014, MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING THREE TIME. THERE WAS COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER, NO WARNING LIGHTS. I HAVE A PUSH BUTTON START AND HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE START, PLACE IT IN PARK, AND RESTART. EACH TIME WAS ON A BUSY STREET WITH MANY UNHAPPY DRIVERS SLAMMING ON THEIR BRAKES. I LEFT THE CAR AT THE JEEP DEALERSHIP FOR TWO DAYS AND THEY FOUND NOTHING. THE NEXT WEEK, I GOT THE RECALL. I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY CHECKED WITH THE REGIONAL SERVICE GUY. THEY CHANGED THE TIPM PENDING THE "FINAL FIX." NO MORE STALLS OCCURRED. THEY THEN DID THE "FINAL FIX" IN JANUARY. I HAD ANOTHER STALL ON JANUARY 26! I'LL TAKE IT BACK WITH THE NEXT RECALL FOR GOD KNOWS WHAT AND SEE WHAT THEY SUGGEST. I'M NOT OPTIMISTIC. *TR
PRIOR TO RECEIVING THE CURRENT RECALL ON MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, I WAS MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY AND MY JEEP LOST COMPLETE POWER. I STARTED TO PANIC BECAUSE THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO TO CONTROL MY JEEP. LUCKILY, I WAS ON THE OUTSIDE LANE AND JUST COASTED TO A STOP. THEN, I SAT THERE FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES WHILE I CALLED MY WIFE TO LET HER KNOW SHE WOULD NEED TO COME GET ME. THEN, I WENT TO SEE IF MY JEEP WOULD DRIVE ONE MORE TIME AND IT DROVE OFF JUST FINE. THEN, WHEN I RECEIVED THIS NOTICE I CALLED THE JEEP DEALERSHIP TO ASK THEM TO FIX MY JEEP DUE TOT HE RECALL AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE WAITING ON PARTS AND WOULD LET ME KNOW WHEN THEY COME IN. HOWEVER, NOW MY AIR BAG LIGHTS ARE ON AS WELL AS MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT IS ON. I ALSO INTERMITTENTLY WHEN I PUSH ON MY BRAKES IT WILL FEEL AS IF I HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED. WHEN I LOOK BEHIND ME THERE IS NOTHING THERE THAT WOULD INDICATE I HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED.

PUSH BUTTON START WILL NOT TURN OVER ENGINE ON FIRST ATTEMPT. STARTER CONTINUES TO CRANK FOR 10 SECONDS. UPON SECOND OR THIRD TRY ENGINE TURNS OVER WITH NO FURTHER SIGN OF A PROBLEM. PROBLEM REPEATED AGAIN WITHIN 3 DAYS. *TR
WHEN I LEFT THE HOUSE FOR WORK IT STARTED FINE AND WENT AROUND THE CORNER TO CONVENIENCE STORE AND WHEN I GOT BACK IN TO LEAVE IT WOULDN'T START. THE ENGINE TURNED OVER, BUT WOULDN'T START. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES, TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND TRIED AGAIN AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. THE SAME THING HAPPENED THE FOLLOWING DAY. IT STARTED FINE IN THE MORNING, DROVE TO WORK AND THEN IT NEVER WOULDN'T START AGAIN. DURING THE DAY I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES. ONCE IT DID START BUT IT SOUNDED LIKE THE ACCELERATOR WAS PUSHED ALL THE WAY DOWN (MOTOR REVVED UP) SO I JUST TURNED IT OFF. HAD TO LEAVE IT AT WORK OVERNIGHT, THE FOLLOWING MORNING WENT TO TRY AND GET IT HOME AND IT STARTED AGAIN JUST FINE. I KNOW IT'S NOT THE BATTERY BECAUSE IT HAS 100% CHARGE AND ALL THE ELECTRONICS WORK IE. WINDOWS, LOCKS, RADIO, LIGHTS ETC. *TR

AFTER GETTING MY FUEL PUMP REPLACED, MY FUEL PUMP LIGHT STILL COMES ON. WHAT IS GOING TO BE DONE TO CORRECT THIS? I READ THAT A BAD FUEL PUMP FROM THE DEALERSHIP COULD HAVE BEEN PUT ON MY VEHICLE.
IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, THE FUEL PUMP RELAY INSIDE THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM-7) MAY FAIL, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING. *TR

A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH 64,000 MILES ON IT IS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY, AS IT WILL NOT START. I FIND IT APPALLING THAT A CAR THAT IS 3 YEARS OLD CAN HAVE SO MANY ISSUES PLAGUING IT. IT IS A MONEY PIT. THERE IS A CYLINDER 2 MISFIRE (NEEDS CYLINDER HEAD), A TORQUE CONVERTER CODE, AND A FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY ON THE 'TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE'. THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY, AND THE CONSUMER IN GENERAL, IS COMPROMISED - WHEN A $30,000 VEHICLE HAS THE POTENTIAL TO STALL WHILE DRIVING. WHEN WORKING, THE JEEP DECELERATES WHILE DRIVING, HAS LOW POWER AND IDLES VERY IRREGULARLY. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH MY PURCHASE AND WITH THE FACT THAT CHRYSLER STANDS FOR SUCH FAULTY PRODUCTS. *TR
THE CAR DOES NOT START, THE IGNITION KEEPS TURNING OVER BUT THE ENGINE DOES NOT START, THEN IT DOES NOT TURN OFF SO YOU HAVE TO SIT AND WAIT FOR ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE PANEL AND THE RADIO TO GO OFF BEFORE TRYING TO START AGAIN. INTERMITTENT NO START. IT TAKES 3 - 15 ATTEMPTS TO START THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A SERVICE RECALL FOR SIMILAR PROBLEM IN THE SAME MODEL AND VEHICLE YEAR, BUT MY VEHICLE VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I AM NOT SURE HOW THAT IS POSSIBLE, UNLESS CHRYSLER USES DIFFERENT ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS DURING THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS, WHICH MIGHT EXPLAIN WHY THEY HAVE SO MANY PROBLEMS. I ALSO CAN'T HELP BUT WONDER IF CHRYSLERS IS ONLY RECALLING THOSE VEHICLES THAT BELONG TO OWNERS IN THE STATES WHERE THEY LOST A LAWSUIT ON THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID THEY ARE WAITING ON THE PART FROM CHRYSLER BUT IT HAS BEEN 9 DAYS AND THEY DO NOT HAVE A ETA. THESE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2011 HAVE THE STARTING WHICH IS CAUSE OF A BAD ELECTRIC PROBLEM. IN WHICH KEEP KNOWS ABOUT FOR A LONG TIME AND DOESN'T WANT TO DO A RECALL FOR THIS ITEM. WHEN IT CAN CAUSE A FIRE A PERSON TO CRASH WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED AND AIRBAGS DEPLOYS WHILE DRIVING. I VERY UNSAFE PROBLEM WHICH CAUSE THE CONSUMER AROUND 1500 TO FIX WHEN IT IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM AND DEFECT. FOUND THAT IT WAS A TIPM PROBLEM I WAS OCCURRING. MIND YOU I AM MECHANICALLY INCLINE I DO WORK FOR A CAR COMPANY AND FIX CARS ALL DAY. SO ON OCT 31ST I TOOK IT TO SUBURBAN CHRYSLER IN TROY MI. THEY DID 2 RECALLS AND SAID YOU HAVE A TIPM ISSUE. OK COVERED UNDER WARRANTY? NOPE! $1190.00 TO FIX. I STATE TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR [XXX], THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE. HE STATES IT DOSE NOT APPLY TO YOUR VEHICLE. I STATE I DON'T UNDERSTAND. BUT THERE IS A FIX CAN I HAVE MY VEHICLE REPAIRED THE SAME WAY. HE STATES NO. SO I NEED TO BUY A WHOLE TIPM WHERE OTHERS JUST GET A BYPASS? THEY STATE YES. F*** THAT. I REMOVE MY VEHICLE FROM THERE. I CALL CHRYSLER FOR ANY KIND OF SUPPORT. NOTHING. NO ASSISTANCE. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE FOR MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN OCTOBER 2014. THE VEHICLE NOW STRUGGLES TO START ALMOST EVERY TIME IT IS PROMPTED TO. IT USUALLY TAKES TWO OR THREE ATTEMPTS TO SUCCESSFULLY START AFTER IT MAKES A SORT OF REV TYPE OF NOISE AND EVEN PRODUCES AN ODOR WHICH IS SMELT ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THAT THE PART TO CORRECT THE ISSUE IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE, AND WHEN IT DOES BECOME AVAILABLE, THERE ARE OVER 20 PEOPLE AHEAD OF ME ON THE WAITING LIST TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

AFTER READING MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS I SEE THAT MY VEHICLE SEEMS TO ALSO BE SUFFERING FROM A FAULTY TIPM. MY FIRST ATTEMPT TO START THE CAR MOST DAYS IS MET WITH WHAT SEEMS TO BE A LACK OF FUEL BUT EVERY OTHER ATTEMPT TO START THE CAR THE SAME DAY IS SUCCESSFUL WITHOUT INCIDENT. THERE IS NO CONSISTENT TIME, SPEED OR TEMPERATURE RELATED TO WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS TRAVELING. THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS UP, RADIO, A/C, TURN SIGNALS AND HEADLIGHTS TURN OFF AND SEAT BELT ALERT SOUNDS. ONLY ONCE HAS VEHICLE LOST POWER BRIEFLY. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2012 THE DEALER COLD NOT FIND THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. NOW IT IS HAPPENING MUCH MORE FREQUENTLY BUT BEFORE I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND PAY FOR THE TIPM I WANT TO VERIFY THAT IT IS A RECALL ITEM. ANOTHER ISSUE THAT BEGAN RECENTLY IS THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE IF OPENED FROM THE INSIDE UNLESS WE PULL THE EXTERIOR HANDLE TWICE. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED AND WOULD COST AROUND $600. *TR
MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND 5.7L HAS NOT STARTING MULTIPLE TIMES. OTHER SYMPTOMS INCLUDE INTERMITTENT ROUGH IDLE AFTER STARTING, SPUTTERING/MISSING WHEN ACCELERATING AND UPHILL, AND INTERMITTENT FAILING TO SHIFT AT HIGH RPM. DEALER PROPOSING TO INSTALL STARTER/FUEL MODULE RELAY WHICH CHRYSLER HAS MADE DUE TO "AMOUNT OF PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM" BUT QUOTING ME $410 FOR THE REPAIR. I WAS DRIVING ON A SURFACE STREET AND BEGINNING TO SLOW FOR A TRAFFIC SIGNAL WHEN THE CAR SHUT OFF. I HAD NO POWER WHATSOEVER; HAD TO COAST AS FAR AS I COULD TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD; THEN PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND RESTARTED IT. A FEW WEEKS PRIOR, I HAD TAKEN THE CAR TO THE ONTARIO, CA JEEP CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPAIRED AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR NOT STARTING. THE SERVICE REP STATED THAT THEY HAD INSTALLED A CIRCUIT BOARD OVERLAY. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS IS A SUPPOSED FIX FOR TIPM ISSUES, BUT IT DID NOT STOP MY CAR FROM TURNING OFF AFTER THE REPAIR HAD BEEN DONE. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE SAME DEALERSHIP WITH THE COMPLAINT THAT THE ALARM - HORN - HAD BEEN GOING OFF RANDOMLY FOR NO REASON. AT THAT TIME, THE SERVICE REP SAID THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND COULD DO NOTHING. IT IS ALSO MY UNDERSTAND NOW THAT THIS IS ANOTHER SYMPTOM OF TIPM FAILURE. *TR
