I EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF BRAKES ON MY GRAND CHEROKEE. I PUSHED THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND COULD HEAR AIR ESCAPING, BUT I HAD VERY LITTLE BRAKE. I HAD TO PUSH EXCEEDINGLY HARD TO STOP THE VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND COULD GET TO MY LOCAL GARAGE. AT THE GARAGE I WAS TOLD THE BOOSTER NEEDED REPLACED AS IT HAD FAILED.SINCE WE HAD THE SAFETY RECALL DONE IN DECEMBER 2014 IT SEEMED STRANGE THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED. AFTER READING OTHER COMPLAINTS, IT APPEARS THAT JEEP IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND THAT THE RECALL DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT....UPDATED 02/22/17 *BF *TR
I ENGAGED THE FACTORY INSTALLED REMOTE START IN SIDE MY GARAGE. WITHIN 3 MINUTES THE ENGINE WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE ORIGINATED JUST IN FRONT OF THE PASSENGER SEAT BUT UNDER THE HOOD. I PRESSED THE START BUTTON IN ORDER TO TURN THE CAR OFF OF AUXILIARY. FLAMES ENGULFED THE ENGINE AND MY HOUSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE SENSOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED OFF AND ON AND THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT SPONGY WHEN DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A LEAK WAS PRESENT IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THE BOOSTER WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V1540000(SERVICE BRAKES). A WATER DIVERTED SHIELD WAS INSTALLED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,400.
MY LEATHER ON DASH STARTED BUBBLING THEN IT JUST PEELED BACK (LEATHER DASH HAS DELAMINATED). I AM BEING TOLD THE WRINKLES IN THE LEATHER DASH COULD CAUSE AN IRREGULAR PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT.
MY BRAKES STOPPED WORKING WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT. THE BRAKE PEDAL KICKED BACK AND FORCED MY FOOT UPWARDS. I WAS AT THAT POINT NO LONGER ABLE TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. I STARTED CRAWLING FORWARD AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN SLOWLY ACCELERATED TO A PARKING LOT. I HAD TO PRESS ON THE BRAKES AS HARD AS I WAS ABLE AND SLOWLY CAME TO A STOP. THERE WAS EXTREME RESISTANCE TO DEPRESSING THE PEDAL AND A GRINDING/HISSING NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT. IT ALSO SOUNDED LIKE THE BRAKES WERE GRINDING AT THE WHEELS. I WAS LUCKY TO BE AT A STOP LIGHT AND NOT TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEED WITH MY CHILDREN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE DIAGNOSING.
UCONNECT IS NO LONGER WORKING, LOOKED ONLINE AND IN JEEP FORUM MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS AND JEEP AND IPHONE ARE WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, I CALLED THE JEEP UCONNECT TELEPHONE NUMBER AND IF THEY CANNOT DO A SOFT RESET YOU MUST GO TO THE DEALER TO FIX THE PROBLEM, IF YOU ARE OUT OF WARRANTY YOU MUST PAY, HAS BEEN GOING FOR A LONG TIME AND TIES BACK TO IPHONE ISSUES WITH IPHONE UPDATES. WHEN ASKED WHY I NEED TO PAY FOR A SERVICE THAT NEEDS TO BE RESET DUE TO A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS IS JUST THE WAY IT IS.
WAS DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY, BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR SHUT OFF AT THE LIGHT, CAR STARTED TO MAKE A WHISTLING NOISE BEFORE LIGHT CAME ON. RESTARTED CAR LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON AND NOISE GONE. DROVE ABOUT 5 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON. WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURNED ON THEN LOST COMPLETE POWER OF CAR. UNABLE TO STEER USE EMERGENCY LIGHTS OR BRAKES, LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP AND NOT GET HIT. CAR TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC, MECHANIC SAID RECALL DUE TO DEFECTIVE ALTERNATOR. HAD IT TOWED TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP SJ DENHAM, CHRYSLER AND DEALERSHIP TELLS US THERE IS NO RECALL ON OUR CAR FOR ALTERNATER. 10-12 DAYS TO GET ALTERNATER. WON'T PROVIDE RENTAL OR LOANER. CAR SITS AT DEALERSHIP WAITING FOR ALTERNATER. CHRYSLER SAID THEY WOULD ASSIGN A CASE MANAGER AND MAKE IT UPSCALE CASE, THAT THEY WOULD CALL US WITHIN 48 HOURS, 2 DAYS LATER WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL. DEALER IS CHARGING OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS SERVICE AND SAID WE HAVE TO PAY 100.00 DEDUCTIBLE AND 40.00 FOR THE BELT THAT WAS DAMAGED. THEY ALSO WANTED 50.00 IF WE WANTED THEM TO LOCATE THE ALTER ER WITHIN 3 DAYS. WE DECLINED PAYING 50.00 STATING THIS SHOULD BE PART OF THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE .
UNEXPECTED ENGINE STALL WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME EXPERIENCING UNEXPECTED STALL OUT WHILE DRIVE AFTER THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO START BUT FAILED TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK. IN ADDITION, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO INDICATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MODULE, THE WIPER MOTOR AND THE (TIPM) TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V115000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
IN 3/16 THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED AN ALTERNATOR FAILURE WHICH WAS REPAIRED AT A COST OF OVER $1,000. TODAY, 9/13/16, THE SAME FAILURE HAS TAKEN PLACE. I DECIDED TO GOOGLE THE ISSUE AND FOUND THAT RECALL 14V63400 (P60 FOR CHRYSLER) IS AN EXACT MATCH FOR THE VEHICLE DESCRIPTION AND THE PROBLEM. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER WAS TOLD THAT IT DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VIN!! VERY DISAPPOINTING AND UNCONSCIONABLE!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE FAILURE. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL SINCE IT WAS EQUIPPED WITH AN 180 AMP INSTEAD OF AN 160 AMP ALTERNATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000. TAKADA RECALL HAD RECALLS DONE CAR STILL HARD TO START AND NOW DIES WHEN DRIVING GETTING ANGRY WITH THE WHOLE CAR VERY DANGEROUS WITH KIDS IN CAR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V879000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, INTERIOR LIGHTING) AND STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS NOT EXPERIENCING A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
MY 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAD LOW LEVELS OF POWER STEERING FLUID AFTER REPLACING THE POWER STEERING PUMP, SO I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THE POWER STEERING RACK AND PINION WOULD ALSO NEED COMPLETE REPLACEMENT. THE JEEP HAD 80K MILES.
TAKADA RECALL TOOK CAR HAD 4 RECALLS DONE NOW HARD TO START AND WHILE DRIVE SHOUT DOWN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THERE WERE SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED THAT DIMMED RIGHT BEFORE THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE PART FOR THE REPAIR WAS ON BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
REPEATED RECALL P36 (EXECUTED) THEN R71 FOR VANITY LIGHT WIRING. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE MANUFACTURER CAN NOTIFY AND THEN POSTPONE ANY FIX FOR NEARLY A YEAR! THIS PROBLEM WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED WITH RECALL P36 AND CAN RESULT IN A VEHICLE FIRE, NOW A NEW RECALL R71 IS ISSUED THAT WILL NOT BE EXECUTED FOR NEARLY YEAR. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO CARRY A FIRE EXTINGUISHER?
SOME TIMES CAR WILL CRANK ,BUT NO START ,HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 5 TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR USED 2 MONTHS AGO ,REPEATED TIME EVENTUALLY WILL START WE ARE WORRIED THAT CAR WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING .WAS IN A DEALER FOR THIS PROBLEM ONCE ALREADY BUT THEY SAID THEY COULDNT REPRODUCE .I HEARD OTHER JEEP OWNERS HAVING SAME PROBLEM AND ITS SOMETHING TO DO WITH TIPM MODULE EXTREMLY EXPENSIVE REPAIR ,
ON THE FIRST OF MARCH, MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WERE ABOUT TO START THEIR DAY IN THE USUAL WAY. SHE OPENED THE GARAGE DOOR AND USED HER KEY FOB TO REMOTE START OUR 2012 JEEP GC LIMITED ( AROUND 42K MILES) ( FACTORY INSTALLED REMOTE STARTER) SHE WALKED AWAY FOR LESS THAN 4 MINUTES AND RETURNED TO SEE SMOKE COMING FROM FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF JEEP. SHE CALLED FOR ME, AND PUSHED THE AUX BUTTON TO BE SURE THE VEHICLE WAS OFF. I CAME RUNNING AND DESPITE MY ATTEMPTS TO OPEN THE HOOD AND BEAT BACK WHAT QUICKLY ESCALATED INTO OPEN FLAMES I RETREATED TO ENSURE MY FAMILY'S SAFETY AND TO BE SURE THE EMERGENCY RESPONDERS WERE CALLED. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE SOME POTENTIAL FUEL FOR THE FIRE BY REMOVING OUR SECOND CAR FROM THE GARAGE (ALSO A CHRYSLER) AND SECURING THE DOOR BETWEEN THE HOUSE AND GARAGE. LUCK INTERVENED WHEN THE FLAMES DESTROYED THE GARAGE DOOR ASSEMBLY CAUSING THE GARAGE DOOR TO FALL AND HELP REMOVE SOME OXYGEN FROM THE FIRE. EVENTUALLY FIRST RESPONDERS ARRIVED AND WERE ABLE TO KNOCK DOWN THE FIRE WITH FOAM . LATER THE FIREMEN PUSHED THE JEEP INTO THE DRIVEWAY TO ENSURE IT WAS DOUSED. THOUGH THE REMOTE START MAY NOT BE DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR WHATEVER ARC SPARKED THE FIRE, IT'S MY BELIEF THAT ITS USE CONTRIBUTED DIRECTLY TO THE CONDITIONS THAT CONFLAGRATED THE SITUATION. IF THE WIRING HARNESS IS OTHERWISE SUSPECT I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED CONSIDERING RECENT REVELATIONS ON RELATED MODELS. THE VEHICLE WAS JUST REMOVED FROM THE SITE TODAY 3/9/2016 TO COPART FACILITY, BY INSURANCE COMPANY FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO THE SOURCE OF THE FIRE.
I CURRENTLY HAVE THE 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND OVER THE YEARS, MY VEHICLE HAS HAD A TOTAL OF (7) RECALLS. RECALLS: BRAKES, ELECTRICAL, ETC. THE MOST RECENT RECALL STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD STALL WITH THE RISK OF A CRASH! UPON RECEIVING MY NOTIFICATION LETTER, I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE ANTICIPATION THAT THE REPAIRS WOULD ONLY TAKE 1 ' 2 BUSINESS DAYS. UNFORTUNATELY, THE REPAIR TIME WAS APPROXIMATELY 1 WEEK THROUGH THE WEEKEND. I WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS MY UN-SATISFACTION WITH THE SERVICE AT THE CHRYSLER GROUP LLC (CHRYSLER) AND AT THIS TIME WOULD LIKE TO ESCALATE MY CONCERN AS A COMPLAINT. I WOULD LIKE SOMEONE FROM THE CORPORATE OFFICE SUCH A MANAGER AND/OR DIRECTOR TO CONTACT ME AND EXPLAIN WHY MY ISSUE CAN'T BE RESOLVED. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO REGISTER MY COMPLAINT WITH BBB. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT CHRYSLER GROUP LLC (CHRYSLER) ON MANY OCCASIONS TO RESOLVE MY ISSUE. I HAVE PURCHASED AND LEASED SEVERAL VEHICLES FROM CHRYSLER OVER THE YEARS, AND NOW I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE RESPONSE I RECEIVED TO SETTLE MY CLAIM FOR RENTAL CAR REIMBURSEMENT.
LEATHER DASH IS BUBBLING AND BECOMING DISCONNECTED FROM THE UNDERLYING SURFACE. NO DEALER WILL REPLACE IT IN MY AREA AND CALLING CHRYSLER DIRECTLY DIDN'T ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING EITHER. THE VALUE OF THE TRADE IN HAS BEEN SEVERELY IMPACTED AND ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AS IT IS CONSIDERED NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I'M THE 2ND OWNER AND BOUGHT THE VEHICLE WITH 57K MILES. THE PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT A MONTH AFTER I TOOK OWNERSHIP.
THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED WHILE DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC AND WHILE BRAKING FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT, WITHOUT WARNING AND WITHOUT APPEARANCE OF THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH. THE BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL 14V-154 WAS ACCOMPLISHED APPROX. 4 MONTHS PRIOR.
SUN VISOR WIRING RECALL R71. RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER TODAY INDICATING THAT A WIRING PROBLEM MAY CAUSE A FIRE. NOTICE STATED THAT THEY EXPECT TO HAVE A REMEDY AVAILABLE IN THE 4TH QUARTER OF 2016. THIS DOES NOT REPRESENT "REMEDY THE DEFECT WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME". NHTSA SHOULD PUT MORE PRESSURE ON CHRYSLER TO ADDRESS THIS SITUATION IN A MORE TIMELY FASHIION. WAS CHRYSLER NOT ALREADY FINED FOR BEING TOO SLOW TO ADDRESS SAFERY DEFECTS?
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND WITHIN MINUTES, THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BEGAN TO SHUT DOWN. FIRST THE NAVIGATION WENT, THEN ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD FOLLOWED BY POWER STEERING, ANTI-LOCK BRAKES. THE CAR DIED. THE ALTERNATOR WENT BAD AND EVENTUALLY CAUGHT ON FIRE AT MY MECHANIC SHOP WHILE TRANSFERRING THE VEHICLE INSIDE AFTER BEING TOWED. THE ALTERNATOR ON MY JEEP WAS THE 180AMP AND THEREFORE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL P60. MY LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP INITIALLY TOLD ME IT WAS COVERED AND THEN SAID IT WAS NOT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE ENGINE FAILED WITHOUT WARNING AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE, A BURNING ODOR WAS PRESENT INSIDE THE CONTACT'S HOME APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES LATER. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED BLACK SMOKE AND FLAMES COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES. THE FIRE MARSHALL INDICATED THAT THE FLAMES WERE STARTED BY A FAULTY VANITY LAMP. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V391000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) IN JUNE OF 2015, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,500.
IN FEB 2016 WAS DRIVING THROUGH TOWN AND MY DASHBOARD AND JEEP STARTED ACTING CRAZY AND IT JUST TOTALLY DIED AS I TRIED PULLING INTO GAS STATION, WAS NOW BLOCKING ENTRANCE/EXIT. TOTALLY DEAD, COULDN'T PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND HAZARDS DIDN'T WORK. REPLACED TIPM COSTING ME $1300. THEN IN OCT 2016, JEEP DASHBOARD STARTED GOING CRAZY AGAIN AND DIED AS I'M DRIVING AND TURNING IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION! EVERYTHING DEAD, NO HAZARDS, LIGHTS ANYTHING AND IT WAS PITCH BLACK. I WAS LUCKY I DIDN'T GET HIT. NOW THEY SAID IT WAS BATTERY EVEN THOUGH I ARGUED THAT IT WASN'T, I SAID IT WAS THE TIPM AGAIN. THEY REPLACE BATTERY, BUT BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON RIGHT AFTER I LEFT DEALER. THEN THEY SAID IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR. GOT IT REPLACE BUT IT WASN'T THE ALTERNATOR, IT WAS THE TIPM AGAIN! THEY COVERED THAT SINCE I JUST PAID FOR IT IN FEBRUARY. FAULTY TIPM'S CAUSED MY JEEP TO TOTALLY DIE AS I'M DRIVING - TWICE!! IF I WAS ON A HIGHWAY, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN HORRIFIC. AND BOTH TIMES I HAD MY KIDS IN THE JEEP WITH ME. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. NEVER BUYING A JEEP AGAIN. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS.

THIS IS A RANDOM PROBLEM THAT OCCURS 1-2 TIMES EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS ON AVERAGE. MY BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACEMENT FOR A RECENT RECALL HAD FAILED, AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP GETTING OFF AN EXIT ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. I HAD TO COAST THROUGH A SCHOOL ZONE AND PULL IN TO A LOCAL PARKING LOT, HAVING MY CAR STOP AS I RAN IN TO A SNOW BANK. I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL CAR SHOP TO ASSESS THE SITUATION, THEN FIGHT WITH CHRYSLER TO HAVE THEM TOW MY CAR TO THE ORIGINAL DEALER WHO SOLD ME THE CAR.
