SINCE PURCHASING MY 2012 JEEP GC, LUGNUTS HAVE BECOME LOOSE AND AT TIMES FALL OFF THE STUD WHILE DRIVING. REGARDLESS OF HOW WELL, OR HOW MANY TIMES THE LUG NUTS ARE TORCHED DOWN, THEY BECOME LOOSE AND FALL OFF. I HAVE REPLACED OVER 5 WHEEL STUDS BECAUSE THEY BREAK OFF UNDER PRESSURE AND TWICE AS MANY LUG NUTS AT $12 A PIECE. EACH REPAIR HAS COST ME OVER $150 A VISIT FOR STUD REPAIR. WHILE MOVING FROM MINNESOTA TO CALIFORNIA, MY LUG NUTS BECAME SO LOOSE ON MY WHEEL THE WHEEL ALMOST FELL OFF GOING 80 MPH. THIS IS A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 85,000 MILES ON IT.

THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.

I PURCHASED A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO IN AUGUST OF 2013. THE OEM TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WERE MICHELIN P265/60R18 ALL SEASON TIRES WHICH WERE MANUFACTURED DURING THE 26TH WEEK OF 2011. I REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES IN JUNE 2015, EVEN THOUGH I STILL HAD 5/32 TO 6/32 OF TREAD DEPTH, BECAUSE THE TIRES WERE DRY ROTTING AND THE SEAM WHERE THE TREAD ATTACHES TO THE SIDEWALL WAS LEAKING AIR. THE TIRES COULD NOT BE REPAIRED.

OVER THE LAST YEAR, THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL INCIDENTS WITH LUG NUTS COMING LOOSE WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSING LOSS IF THE LUG NUT AND TIRE WOBBLING (NOISE). ON 11/09/14, I WAS PARKING MY VEHICLE DRIVING UNDER 5 MPH AND HEARD A LOUD POP. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, I GOT OUT AND LOOKED BY MY DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE AND SEE THAT LUG NUT AND WHEEL STUD BROKE OFF. I AM SCHEDULED TO SEE THE DEALER TOMORROW FOR A REVIEW OF THE ISSUE AND LOOK FOR OTHER DAMAGE. THE ONGOING ISSUE OF LOOSE LUG NUTS IS A GREAT CONCERN AND MAKES ME WONDER IF THERE IS A BIGGER ISSUE WITH FAULTY STUDS OR WHEEL BEARINGS. *TR

CORROSION ON THE HUBS OF ALL THE WHEELS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH MY CAR JUST ABOUT 1 YEAR AFTER PURCHASING IT BRAND NEW. THIS IS NOT JUST A PROBLEM WITH MY JEEP. I HAVE NOTICED ON MANY JEEPS IN MY AREA. IT IS NOT AN ISSUE THAT THE WARRANTY COVERS DESPITE BEING A NEW CAR. THIS SEEMS LIKE A MANUFACTURE ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT HOWEVER, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRE WAS FOUND TO BE DEFLATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE WHEEL COULD HAVE BEEN DAMAGED DUE TO THE DRIVER'S NEGLIGENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE WHEEL WAS LEAKING AIR DUE TO THE WELDING AT THE TIME OF MANUFACTURING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.
