THIS IS THE 6+ TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED BUT THIS WAS THE WORST TIME, YET. WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY @60-70MPH, I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WAS FROZEN SOLID ... WOULD NOT MOVE AN INCH ... I HAD NO BRAKES. I TOOK MY FOOT OF THE BRAKE, REAPPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND STILL NOTHING. I TRIED APPLYING PRESSURE A THIRD TIME AND MY BRAKES WORKED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND THEY SAID THEY CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM. I CALLED JEEP AND THEY SAID TO TALK TO THE DEALER AGAIN. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTIFICATION IN JUNE OF 2013. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND COULD TAKE SEVERAL MONTHS BEFORE BECOMING AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,000.

I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM A SKI WEEKEND IN UPSTATE NY IN JANUARY AND TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 65MPH, THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS BELOW FREEZING AND I WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN FOR UPCOMING TRAFFIC AND THE PEDAL WAS HARD AND THE BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE, I PUMPED THE PEDAL AND REMAINED CALM AND HOPED THAT THE POWER WOULD COME BACK TO THE PEDAL AND LUCKILY IT DID AFTER A 3 PUMPS TO THE PEDAL AND TOOK ABOUT 5 SECONDS. WE AVOIDED A NEAR FATAL COLLISION IF IT WASN'T FOR MY QUICK THINKING AND REMAINING CALM. I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO WESTBURY JEEP WHO TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BRAKES AND RETURNED THE CAR TO ME, I THEN CONTINUED TO HAVE THE PROBLEM REOCCUR ON COLD DAYS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW FREEZING. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOTHING AND NOW A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE EXACT ISSUE I DESCRIBED AND THE DEALERSHIP STILL REFUSES TO REPAIR IT BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THE PART. I WANT THE REPAIR DONE ASAP! *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEADLAMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED WERE AVAILABLE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN SERVICED UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE OF THE EXTENSIVE WAITING LIST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
WHILE MY WIFE WAS BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY SHE ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT WHEN SHE NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TO HARD FOR HER TO TURN. A RED LIGHT SHOWING A PICTURE OF A STEERING WHEEL WAS DISPLAYED IN THE INSTRUMENTAL SCREEN AND THE CAR SEEMED TO BE RUNNING FINE. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED BACK I TO THE DRIVEWAY IT WAS SHUT OFF. THE CAR WAS THEN RESTARTED WITH NO FURTHER STEERING ISSUES. JEEP DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED THEY NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING AND ADVISED THEY WOULD MAKE A NOTE OF IT AND IF HAPPENS AGAIN TO BRING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
THE ENGINE AND ALL SYSTEMS STOP; TURN OFF WITHOUT NOTICE. ACTUALLY NOT A STALL, BUT ALL POWER CEASES TO WORK ABRUPTLY. THE CAR THEN MUST BE STOPPED FULLY TO ALLOW A RESTART. WITHOUT POWER STEERING OR BRAKES THE CAR IS IMMEDIATELY SUBJECT TO A REAR END COLLISION. IT HAS ALWAYS OCCURRED AT SPEEDS AROUND 15 TO 20 MPH, AND NORMALLY WHEN SLOWING. JEEP DEALERS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND, OF COURSE I CANNOT DUPLICATE FOR THEM AS IT OCCURS WITHOUT NOTICE PERIODICALLY. JEEP RECENTLY, FINALLY ISSUED A RECALL FOR A FIX BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUES EVEN AFTER THEIR "FIX". THE CAR DOES HAVE AN AFTERMARKET SUPPLEMENTAL BRAKING SYSTEM TO ALLOW TOWING BY AN RV. THAT HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED AS A POSSIBLE CAUSE, BUT THE STALLS HAVE CONTINUED. I CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR NOR WILL I ALLOW MY FAMILY TO DO SO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED AND THE BRAKES ENGAGED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO OPERATE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETECT A TROUBLE CODE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,500.
IN ABOUT ONE OF EVERY THIRTY STARTS, THE ENGINE DIES QUICKLY EVEN THOUGH THE DASH STILL SAYS "RUN". I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE JEEP DEALER ABOUT 4 TIMES, BUT THEY HAVE NO FIX & I AM AFRAID IT WILL HAPPEN WHILE THE JEEP IS MOVING. *TR
PUSH BUTTON IGNITION IS DEFECTIVE. THE FIRST YEAR I OWNED THE VEHICLE THE PUSH BUTTON IGNITION BEGAN TO SHOW PROBLEMS. INTERMITTENTLY THE KEY-FOB IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY THE CAR. SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL NOT START. BECAUSE OF THIS, SOMETIMES IT WILL NOT TURN OFF. SOMETIMES I HAVE STARTED THE VEHICLE AND AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN A BELL BEGINS RINGING AND MESSAGE APPEARS ON DASHBOARD THAT SAYS "KEY HAS LEFT THE VEHICLE". I HAVE TO TAP THE KEY-FOB ON THE BUTTON SEVERAL TIMES FOR IT TO FINALLY RECOGNIZE THAT IT IS PRESENT. I HAVE CHANGED THE BATTERIES IN THE KEY-FOB OFTEN. FINALLY, LAST MONTH, I DECIDED TO HAVE THE JEEP DEALER REPLACED KEY-FOB AT COST OF $300. THREE WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING. JEEP SERVICE DEPARTMENT ADMITTED THEY REPLACE 2-3 KEY-FOBS A WEEK FOR CUSTOMERS. I SUSPECT THE PROBLEM IS WITH ELECTRONICS IN THE DASHBOARD.
WHILE MAKING A 3-POINT TURN THE POWER STEERING FAILED WITH THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT. AN UNFAMILIAR WARNING LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH (WHICH WAS NOT IDENTIFIED IN THE MANUAL OR ON-LINE) CONSISTING OF A RED STEERING WHEEL OVER 2 RED LINES. EVERYTHING ELSE SEEMED TO BE WORKING. I GRAPPLED WITH THE WHEEL TO FINISH THE TURN, THEN TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. AFTER RE-STARTING, THE POWER STEERING WAS WORKING AGAIN. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. THEY REPORTEDLY FOUND A CORRODED LEAD TO THE "POWER STEERING MODULE" (EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS ONLY 7 MONTHS OLD) BECAUSE "THE SCREW CONNECTING THE LEAD HAD NOT BEEN GREASED PROPERLY PRIOR TO INSTALLATION." *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL EXTERIOR LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR HATCH FAILED TO LATCH. THE CONTACT HAD TO FASTEN THE REAR HATCH WITH A CORD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REMOTE AND MODULE FOR THE LATCH AND THE LIGHTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. UPDATED 10/19/16*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED HE REPLACED NINE LIGHT BULBS IN THREE YEARS. THE HATCH BACK FAILED TO LOCK ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND IT FAILED TO OPEN AS IT WAS DESIGNED. UPDATED 10/25/16.*JB
WHILE PARKING IN A PARKING LOT WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ENGINE RPM'S SURGED AND I HAD TO APPLY EXTREMELY HARD FORCE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL TO STOP AFTER TRAVELING 10 TO 15 FEET. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN AND I TOOK THE JEEP TO YARK SERVICE IN TOLEDO OH. THEY RAN A DIAGNOSIS AND COULD NOT FIND ANY CODES. MY WIFE TOOK THE JEEP AND WHILE PARKING HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. BEFORE SHE COULD STOP THE VEHICLE RAN INTO A POST AND SUSTAINED DAMAGE. I CALLED JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE AND REPORTED IT AS A SAFETY PROBLEM ON AUG 31. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPT. THEY SAID NOTHING COULD BE DONE AT THAT TIME. I TOOK IT BACK THE NEXT WEEK AND THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPOILER FOR THE BACK RACK FRACTURED AND CAUSED THE RACK TO MOVE IN A WAY THAT WAS OBSCURING THE CONTACT'S VISIBILITY OF THE REAR WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY USER ERROR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,000. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD ALSO OCCUR WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY ON FRIDAY OF MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. LOST BRAKES AND STEERING TOO. LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP ON THE SHOULDER. TRIED TO RESTART MULTIPLE TIMES, AND STARTER JUST WHIRRED OVER AND OVER AND OVER. I COULDN'T EVEN DO ANYTHING TO STOP IT FROM ATTEMPTING TO START. IT WOULD ULTIMATELY GIVE UP. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE SENT A TOW. THE NEXT DAY AT THE DEALERSHIP IT STARTED, BUT IT'S STILL THERE FOR THE LONG HOLIDAY WEEKEND. LUCKILY I WASN'T TOWING MY TRAVEL TRAILER. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AS I'VE READ OF MANY INSTANCES SIMILAR TO THIS RECURRING MANY TIMES. *TR
WHEN PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT, THE ENGINE STARTED REVVING VERY QUICKLY (TACHOMETER REGISTERED APPROX.5 RPMS) BUT THE VEHICLE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO ACCELERATION OR SPEED. NO ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, NO WARNINGS WERE EVIDENT. I PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT @ WORK TRAVELING AT APPROX. 20MPH DESPITE HEARING THE ENGINE REVVING VERY LOUDLY. WHEN I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR, THE SPEED DECREASED UNUSUALLY FAST. THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO FIT ME IN THAT AFTERNOON. THE PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR 8 HRS LATER ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER. SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED "WE DROVE THE CAR FOR SEVERAL MILES, HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER. THERE WERE NO "CODES" AND WE COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM." THE SERVICE GUY SUGGESTED I BRING IT BACK IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. I TAKE THE XWAY TO WORK AND BACK SO IT WILL TOTALLY SUCK IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SERVICE FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE, ELECTRIC STABILITY CONTROL AND THE ELECTRONIC WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THE PERFORMANCE CONTROL MODULE HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,015.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH DOWN HILL AND APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO AVOID A CRASH WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE AND DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND AND CRASHED INTO A FENCE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER ON MY JEEP MAY PREMATURELY CORRODE. I CALLED THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE JEEP--BOB POYNTER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP HYUNDAI--AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN AND THEY WOULD GET IT FIXED. I WAS TOLD THEY CHECKED THE BOOSTER AND IT WAS O.K., BUT THEY WANTED TO CHANGE IT ANYWAYS. THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD CALL WHEN THE PARTS CAME IN. THE SERVICE DEPT. DIDN'T CALL, SO 3 WEEKS LATER, I CALLED THEM AND ASKED ABOUT IT. I WAS TOLD THE SERVICE DEPT. COULD ONLY ORDER 1 AT A TIME AND I WOULD BE PUT ON A LIST. I RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL LETTER AND CALLED THE SERVICE DEPT. ABOUT IT 3 WEEKS LATER AND ASKED ABOUT THE PARTS FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER. I WAS TOLD THE ONES THAT HAD BEEN REPLACED WERE RECALLED AND NOW THEY'RE EVEN FURTHER BEHIND AND WOULD CALL WHEN THE PARTS CAME IN-AGAIN. *TR
RAN OVER SMALL PIECE OF METAL IN THE SIDEWALL OF MY MICHELIN LATITUDE TOURING P265/60 R18 TIRE AND PUNCTURED LARGE HOLE IN THE TIRE. HAD TO ORDER ANOTHER ONE DEALER ALLEN SAMUELS EAST TEXAS DODGE IN TYLER TX SAID THERE WAS NO WARRANTY COST ME ABOUT $300 TO REPLACE THE TIRE. NOW I HAVE BEEN NOTICING THAT THE TIRE I REPLACED AS WELL AS MY OTHER TIRES ARE SLICK AND ALMOST THREAD BARE I ONLY HAVE 18,000 MILES ON THESE TIRES. I KNOW THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THESE WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET THEM REPLACED BY THE TIRE MANUFACTURER? I AM WORRIED ABOUT MY SAFETY AS WELL AS MY PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE. *TR

JEEP WAS STOPPED AT LIGHT AND I STEPPED ON ACCELERATOR AFTER LIGHT CHANGED. ENGINE REVVED UP AND CAR TOOK OFF AND PICKED UP SPEED AND I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE, BUT THE RPMS WOULDN'T GO DOWN, EVEN WITH THE BRAKE PRESSED AND THE CAR NOT MOVING THE RPMS WERE AT ALMOST 7000. I WAS BACKING MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2013 WITH 2410 MILES DOWN MY DRIVEWAY SLIGHT SLANT IN REVERSE AND THE JEEP WOULDN'T STOP WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. SCARY AS HECK. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED BURNS TO THE HANDS, A FOUL TASTE OF METAL, AND AN INEBRIATED SENSATION. THE CONTACT WAS HOSPITALIZED HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE EXACT SUBSTANCE THAT CAUSED THE SYMPTOMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE RADIATOR WAS EMITTING A SUBSTANCE THROUGH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. THE ACTUAL SUBSTANCE THAT CAUSED THE INJURY TO THE CONTACT WAS UNKNOWN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE RADIATOR, HOSES, THERMOSTAT, COOLING FLUID, AND FILTERS IN THE ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH A NEW VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 306. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,300.

ON MARCH 18, 2013 I WAS IN MY PARKING GARAGE AT THE HOSPITAL I WORK AT AND I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 1MPH WHEN I WENT TO PRESS THE BRAKES IT WOULDN'T STOP AT ALL I RAN RIGHT INTO THE GATE THAT OPENS THE EXIT FOR ME TO GET OUT AND DAMAGE MY FRONT END, I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT NEEDED A NEW VACUUM PUMP AND THEY KEPT IT 11 DAYS TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE. I BARLEY HAD MY CAR A MONTH AND ON APRIL 24, 2013 THEY SAME ACCIDENT HAPPEN I TRIED TO BRAKE LEAVING WORK AND IT WAS NO PRESSURE AT ALL IT WOULDN'T STOP I RAN RIGHT INTO THE POLE AND MY WHOLE FRONT BUMPER WAS DAMAGED ONCE AGAIN. MY TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP NOW AND THEY CLAIM NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE BRAKES AND I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGES FOR THE CAR. I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE OCCUR A FEW TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY. THE SPEEDS ARE GENERALLY BETWEEN 40-60 MPH. WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, IT IS AS THOUGH IT IS LOCKED OR FROZEN. WHILE TRAVELING ON A ROADWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, WHAT APPEARED TO BE A TINY PEBBLE STRUCK MY FRONT WINDSHIELD, WHICH RESULTED IN A CHIP IN MY WINDSHIELD. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE CHIP RESULTED IN A CRACK THAT SPANNED THE ENTIRE HORIZONTAL LENGTH OF MY WINDSHIELD. I HAVE HAD DRIVEN/OWNED OTHER NON-JEEP VEHICLES IN WHICH WINDSHIELDS WERE STRUCK BY LARGER PEBBLES/ROCKS AND SURVIVED WITHOUT HAVING SUSTAINED ANY DAMAGE. THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE VACUUM ASSEMBLY HOSE WERE BOTH REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED HER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT DEALER. ON 4 SEPARATE TIMES I ATTEMPTED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY, APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE PEDAL WAS LOCKED/FROZEN. I DROVE THE CAR HOME FROM THE DEALER AND THE EXACT PROBLEM HAPPENED 20 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING THERE. I WILL NOT DRIVE THIS CAR ANYMORE.. THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE. I HAD TWO OTHER PEOPLE TEST DRIVE THE CAR AND THEY EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
MY PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER OF 2012. I HIT THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE CAR STARTS AND THEN DIES. I TRY TO HIT THE BUTTON AGAIN AND IT JUST CRANKS AND CRANKS AND WON'T START. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO TURN ON IS TO CYCLE ON AND OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH AND TRY IT AGAIN. I BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID UNLESS THEY CAN RECREATE THE ISSUE THEY CAN'T IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM, AND ALSO CLAIMED THEY DID RESEARCH AND COULDN'T COME UP WITH ANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND SENT ME HOME. I DID ABOUT FIVE MINUTES WORTH OF ONLINE RESEARCH AND FOUND THE TIPM ISSUE ALONG WITH COUNTLESS COMPLAINS ABOUT IGNITION SWITCH ISSUES. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND REPORTED MY FINDINGS. THEY WERE FAMILIAR WITH THE TIPM ISSUE, BUT SAID THEY CAN'T JUST REPLACE A PART UNLESS IT CAN BE PROVED THAT IS THE ISSUE. *TR

VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE UNDER NIGHTTIME CONDITIONS AND WHEN SUN SHINES INTO CAR FROM THE REAR. THIS IS ADDED TO THE FACT THAT THE INSTRUMENTS ARE ON THE SIDES OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND THAT THE STEERING WHEEL IS SMALL. CAN'T GET A FULL LOOK AT THESE INSTRUMENTS WITH BOTH EYES AT THE SAME TIME .... I. E. SERIOUSLY IMPACTED BINOCULAR VISION MEANS THAT IT IS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT THE NEEDLES BE OF A CONTRASTING COLOR TO THE BACKGROUND. ESPECIALLY SINCE MANY MALES ARE AT LEAST PARTIALLY RED-GREEN COLOR BLIND. THE SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS INCLUDE THAT IT TAKES LONGER TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER UNDER MAN Y DIFFERENT LIGHT CONDITIONS [EVEN WITHOUT COLOR VISION DEFICIENCIES] , WHICH MEANS THAT THE EYES ARE OFF THE ROAD LONGER AND THAT SPEEDING MAY BE A MORE COMMON AND INADVERTENT RESULT OF IT BEING HARDER TO READ THE GAUGES. *TR

WENT TO DEALER, THEY COULDN'T DETERMINE LEAKAGE EVENTHOUGH INFORMED THEM WHERE TO LOOK. I WENT BACK TO THE SHOP AREA AND INSTRUCTED THEM WHERE TO LOOK; FINALLY THE TECHNICIAN DID FIND THE LEAK ... DUE TO A POWER STEERING PUMP CRACK. SO IN YOUR INVESTIGATION FOR POWER STEERING HOSE CAUSING FIRES, INVESTIGATE FOR THE PUMP ALSO. WE ARE STILL CHECKING DAILY FOR LEAKAGE, EVENTHOUGH THE PUMP WAS REPLACED. POWER STEERING FLUID HAS BEEN ADDED, AND FLUID IS STILL DISAPPEARING !! *TR
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, WHEN THE PUSH TO START BUTTON WAS PRESSED TO START THE VEHICLE THE HEAT/AIR FAN HAS AUTOMATICALLY COME ON AT THE HIGHEST SPEED WITH THE HEAT/AIR BUTTON IN THE OFF POSITION. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN AS FAR AS 20 MILES BEFORE IT WOULD GO OFF. THE BUTTON HAS BEEN TURNED ON TO DIFFERENT SPEEDS DURING THIS INCIDENT AND THE SPEED DOES NOT CHANGE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN CUT OFF AND RESTARTED WITH THE SAME RESULTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP ON APRIL 1, 2014. THE FAN WAS REPLACED AND APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS LATER THE SAME INCURRED AGAIN. IT WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MAY 26, 2014. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TRIED FOR 3 HOURS TO REPRODUCE THE INCIDENT WITH NO AVAIL. I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT RE-OCCURRED AND BRING IT IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALERSHIP WITHOUT CUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF SO THE CODES COULD BE CHECKED. IF THIS OCCURRED WHEN THE DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSED, I WAS INSTRUCTED NOT TO CRANK THE VEHICLE AGAIN UNTIL IT WAS BEING TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND NOT TO CUT IT OFF UNTIL A TECHNICIAN COULD GET THE CODE OF ERROR. UNKNOWN IF IT HAS A SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS STATED THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THE FAN TO RUN WITHOUT BEING TURNED ON.
