I RECEIVED A RECALL FROM CHRYSLER IN REFERENCE TO A SAFETY RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM IS SPECIFIC TO THE BRAKE BOOSTER IN THAT THE SHELL MAY INGEST WATER IN WET CONDITIONS (RAIN, SNOW, FOG, WASHING THE CAR, ETC.) WHICH WOULD TOTALLY DISABLE ANY BRAKING FUNCTION FOR THE VEHICLE. THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE TO TAKE TO MY DEALER FOR REPAIR WHICH I DID MONTHS AGO. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER THE PARTS NECESSARY TO REPAIR HAVE NOT BEEN DELIVERED AND EVERY DEALERSHIP I CHECKED WITH HAVE A 200+ WAITING LIST OF CUSTOMERS WAITING FOR REPAIR PARTS TO BE DELIVERED. I'VE CALL CHRYSLER'S SUPPORT LINE LISTED ON THE RECALL NOTICE SEVERAL TIMES AND THE ONLY RESPONSE I GET IS THAT PARTS ARE ON THE WAY, WHICH IS THE SAME RESPONSE I'VE RECEIVED FOR MONTHS! WHO DO THEY HAVE MAKING THESE PARTS THAT IS TAKING SO LONG, AND ISN'T LOSING ALL BRAKING CAPABILITIES IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO MOVE UP ON THE PRIORITY LIST??? *TR

THE END OF MAY I RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION THAT CHRYSLER HAD A DEFECT ON THERE 2011 THROUGH 2014 JEEPS BRAKE BOOSTER, WHEN I CALLED ONE OF THE DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME TO CALL BACK THE NEXT WEEK BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART. A WEEK LATER I CALLED CHRYSLER AND INFORMED THEM OF MY CONVERSATION, THEY TOOK DOWN MY INFORMATION AND TOLD ME THEY WERE GOING TO ORDER THE PART AND CALL ME WITHIN A WEEK. THIS NEVER HAPPENED I CALLED CHRYSLER AGAIN JULY 2 AND SPOKE TO ANOTHER REPRESENTATIVE AND THEY TOLD ME THEY STILL DID NOT HAVE THE PART AND THAT THEY WILL LET ME KNOW VIA PHONE WHEN THE PART COMES IN. I AM VERY CONCERNED HAVING THIS DEFECT CAN HAVE CONSEQUENCES ON ANY GIVEN DAY. WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CAR IS THE ONE THAT HAS A DEFECT AND I GET INTO AN ACCIDENT? WHAT HAPPENS THAN TO MY FAMILY. THE PARTS WERE ORDERED, BUT AS OF 7/18/14 THE DEALER CLAIMS THE REPLACEMENT PARTS HAVE STILL NOT BEEN RECEIVED FROM CHRYSLER AND HAVE NO IDEA AS TO WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. IN MAY, 2014 WE RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE. SINCE WE LIVE IN SAN DIEGO CA BUT WERE AT OUR CABIN IN MINNESOTA WE COULDN'T BRING OUR JEEP IN UNTIL JUNE. SO, JUNE 30 WE TOOK OUR JEEP TO MIDWAY CHRYSLER JEEP IN SAN DIEGO. THEY SAID WE NEEDED A BRAKE BOOSTER SHIELD. THEY HAD TO ORDER IT FROM THE MAIN CHRYSLER LOCATION AND IT WOULD TAKE TWO WEEKS. AFTER THREE WEEKS WE CALLED AND THEY SAID THEY HADN'T RECEIVED IT YET. IT HAS NOW BEEN FIVE WEEKS AND WE ARE REALLY CONCERNED. IN FOUR WEEKS WE LEAVE FOR A DRIVING TRIP ACROSS COUNTRY THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS. WHAT CAN YOU DO TO EXPEDITE THIS REPAIR SO THAT WE CAN MAKE OUR TRIP SAFELY? *TR

MY VEHICLE HAS 4 OPEN RECALLS AS LISTED BELOW. I HAVE PRESENTED IT MANY MONTHS AGO TO TWO DIFFERENT JEEP DEALERS, DICK MYERS, HARRISONBURG, VA AND BILLY BENDER, CUMBERLAND, MD (WHERE I PURCHASED IT). AT BOTH DEALERSHIPS, THEY CLAIMED A NATIONAL BACKLOG FOR RECALL PARTS AND THAT THEY WOULD ORDER THEM AND CALL ME. I HAVE NEVER HEARD FROM ANYONE. I SUSPICION THAT THIS IS A FINANCIAL DECISION BY JEEP, NOT THE DEALERSHIPS. I THINK THEY ARE DELAYING, HOPING TO NOT HAVE TO MAKE THESE REPLACEMENTS. I WANT TO DECLARE THE JEEP A LEMON DUE TO THIS AND FORCE THEM TO BUY IT BACK SINCE THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIX IT. I WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO PUT SOME TEETH IN THESE RECALLS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V154000 (SERVICE BRAKES , SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) WAS RECEIVED IN JUNE OF 2014, NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V391000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) WAS RECEIVED IN AUGUST OF 2014, AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) WAS RECEIVED IN DECEMBER OF 2014. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE PROVIDED. I WAS IN THE PARKING LOT OF A PORSCHE REPAIR SHOP AND WAS FULLY AWARE OF ALL THE EXPENSIVE CARS AROUND. I WAS VERY CAREFUL AS I PUT MY CAR IN REVERSE. SUDDENLY, MY JEEP SPED ACROSS THE PARKING LOT IN REVERSE AT FULL THROTTLE. THE BREAKS DIDN'T WORK AND THE CAR WOULDN'T STOP UNTIL IT SMASHED INTO A PORSCHE CAYMAN AND TOTALED IT. *TR
2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WAS AT BANKING DRIVE THROUGH WHEN IT ACCELERATED SUDDENLY. BREAKS WOULD NOT STOP THE CAR AS IT ACCELERATED AND TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET ACROSS THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC. FINALLY CAME TO A STOP WHEN IT WAS PUSHED INTO NEUTRAL. DEALER TOWED AND SERVICE DEPARTMENT RAN TEST FOR CODES. NONE WERE FOUND. SERVICE TEST DROVE THE CAR FOR SEVERAL MILES AND DETERMINED THAT VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. CHRYSLER SENT AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATOR AND THEY DETERMINED NO CODES AND VEHICLE PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. JUST BE AWARE THAT SOMETHING HAPPENED. CAR ACCELERATED AND BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK. *TR
IN APRIL MY CAR STARTED RANDOMLY NOT STARTING. IT'S HAPPENED 4 TIMES AND BEEN IN THE SHOP ONCE FOR THIS ISSUE. IT IS GOING AGAIN MONDAY 6/16 FOR THE SAME ISSUE. IT WILL RANDOMLY NOT START, IT RANDOMLY TRIES TO STALL ON ME. IT WILL RANDOMLY NOT RESPOND TO PUSHING THE POWER BUTTON. IT WILL RANDOMLY MAKE A HIGH PITCHED SQUEALING NOISE. IT IS VERY SCARY WHEN IT TRIES TO STALL BECAUSE I CAN BE RIDING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH WHEN IT HAPPENS OR SITTING STILL AT A RED LIGHT. I DRIVE OVER 120 MILES PER DAY AND I CANNOT BE STRANDED OR STALL OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. IT'S GOING TO THE SHOP AGAIN MONDAY TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE FOR THE SECOND TIME. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER EVERY TWO OR THREE WEEKS SINCE ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT IT WILL BE TWO MORE WEEKS. TWO WEEKS NEVER SEEMS TO COME AND I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. *TR

MY DAUGHTER, WHO IS A FULL TIME STUDENT IN PA, HAS BEEN TO SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS (BRENNER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP,MANAHAWKIN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP, 'BLAISE ALEXANDER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP) AND PLACED ON A WAIT LIST HOWEVER NONE OF THESE HAVE EVER CLEARED FOR ANY OF THE RECALLS CHRYSLER JEEP HAS TAKEN NO RESPONSIBILITY TO ADDRESS THESE RECALLS IN ANY MANNER AND HAVE INCONVENIENCED A COLLEGE STUDENT LET ALONE PUT HER AT UNNECESSARY SAFETY RISK. I RECEIVED A RECALL APPROX. 4 MONTHS AGO REGARDING THE BRAKES. I ATTEMPTED TO MAKE AN APPT. WITH SOMERSET CHRYSLER BECAUSE THEY ARE CLOSER TO MY HOME THAN WHERE I PURCHASED JEEP. THEY SAID THEY HAD TO ORDER THE PART AND WOULD CALL ME WHEN IT CAME IN. WHEN I DIDN'T RECEIVE A CALL 2 1/2 MONTHS LATER, I CALLED THEM AND WAS TOLD THE REPLACEMENT WAS ALSO RECALLED AND THEY HAD TO ORDER AGAIN. IT IS ANOTHER 6 WEEKS AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL AND HAVE NOW RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE VISOR. THE FRONT PASSENGERS SIDE BUMPER WAS DAMAGED BUT THERE WERE NO PERSONS INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN AND PARKED AT THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER. THE BUMPER WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 15,200.
MY 2013 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE ABOVE APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH DUE TO THE HEADLAMPS. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER TWICE TO HAVE THEM ADJUSTED. THE DEALER MADE ADJUSTMENTS ACCORDING TO JEEP CRITERIA; HOWEVER, WHEN DRIVING IN A DARK AREA IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE MORE THAN APPROXIMATELY 30 FEET IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WAS PUSHED IN AND THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR FELL OFF OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH SIDE AIR BAGS. THE CONTACT WAS FORCED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE USING THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. A REPRESENTATIVE WITH THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT A REQUEST WOULD BE SUBMITTED TO A SPECIAL INVESTIGATION UNIT SO THEY COULD INSPECT THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THAT HAS NOT OCCURRED. SHE MADE MORE THAN FIVE UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPTS TO FOLLOW UP WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND NO ONE RETURNED HER CALL. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED AN INJURY TO HER LEG. THE CONTACT WAS PREGNANT AND LOST HER CHILD AFTER THE CRASH OCCURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,858.
DURING THE YEAR (2014), I HAVE RECEIVED TWO SEPARATE SAFETY RECALL NOTICES FROM CHRYSLER. WHEN I RECEIVED THE FIRST RECALL NOTICE (P14/NHTSA 14V-154 BRAKE BOOSTER), I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER (CARSON DODGE/JEEP) AND WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THEY DID NOT YET HAVE THE PARTS TO PERFORM THE SAFETY RECALL, SO IT DID NOT MAKE SENSE TO PERFORM THE INSPECTION. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THEY WOULD "PUT ME ON THE LIST" AND WOULD CALL ME WHEN THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, I GOT THE SECOND SAFETY RECALL (P36/NHTSA 14V-391 SUN VISOR WIRING). I CALLED CARSON DODGE/JEEP AGAIN. THEY STILL DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL AND IT "DIDN'T MAKE SENSE TO BRING MY JEEP IN TO THEM UNTIL THEY COULD PERFORM THE INSPECTION FOR BOTH SAFETY RECALLS". THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THEY WOULD "PUT ME ON THE LIST" AND WOULD CALL ME WHEN THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. IT IS NOW THE END OF THE YEAR, CARSON DODGE/JEEP HAS NOT CALLED ME TO PERFORM EITHER OF THE SAFETY RECALL INSPECTIONS AND I FEEL LIKE I'M GETTING JERKED AROUND. THE WATER PUMP AND RADIATOR HAVE GONE BAD, ALSO THE DRIVING LIGHTS AND THE FOG LIGHTS KEEP BURNING OUT. THERE SEEMS TO BE A MECHANICAL PROBLEM. THIS HAS COST ME APPROX. $2000.00 IN REPAIR COST. I HAVE NOTICED ON THE ROAD OTHER VEHICLES LIKE MINE THAT HAVE THERE LIGHTS BURNED OUT. ALSO MY REPAIR SHOP INFORMED ME THAT HE SEES QUIT A FEW CRACKED RADIATORS. *TR

MY CAR CONTINUED TO MAKE A SOUND AS THOUGH THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING WHEN I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF. I THINK THIS COULD BE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE RECALL ON THE ALTERNATOR DIODES. IT SEEMS THE ALTERNATOR MAY BE FAILING. THE POWER WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS APPLIED HESITATES AT TIMES ALSO WHEN DRIVING. MY FEAR IS THAT I WILL BE DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR WILL LOOSE ALL POWER COMPLETELY. THIS WILL LEAVE ME WITHOUT ANY STEERING CONTROL AT ALL TOO. I FEAR FOR MY LIFE AT THIS TIME. I WAS TOLD BY [XXX] THAT I SHOULD REPLACE IT AT MY COST. WHEN I ASKED HOW MUCH THAT WOULD COST THE SERVICE ADVISOR [XXX] LIED AND SAID HE DID NOT KNOW THE COST TO REPLACE THE PARTS. ALSO, IF THERE ARE PARTS NOW THEN THE ALTERNATOR/DIODES SHOULD BE BEING REPLACED BY CHRYSLER NOW BEFORE A SEVERE CATASTROPHE OCCURS. I ALSO HAD THE BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED. SINCE THEN THERE IS A RATTLE UNDER THE HOOD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WHERE THE BRAKE BOOSTER WOULD BE. EVERY TIME I GO OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD A RATTLING SOUND HAPPENS. IT IS AS THOUGH THIS IS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE SUSPENSION OF THE CAR OR ALIGNMENT TOO. [XXX] , SERVICE ADVISOR AT [XXX] HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO IDENTIFY THIS PROBLEM. [XXX] WANTS ME TO COME IN FOR YET ANOTHER DAY TO TRY TO GET THE PROBLEM IDENTIFIED. THIS WILL MAKE 3 DAYS OF LOSING TIME FROM WORK AND BEING INCONVENIENCED.
