THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
FROM A STOP, RIGHT TURN, ACCEL TOWARDS PLANNED SPEED OF 60. AT APP. 50MPH APPROACHING GUARDRAILS THEN BRIDGE THE VEHICLE 'LOCKS UP' (NO SCREECHING BRAKES), THOUGHT 'TRANS' (PREVIOUS UNRESOLVED PROBLEMS), ENGINE SPUTTERS, ABOUT TO DIE, SPEED HAS DROPPED 30MPH, (ASSUME NO BRAKE LIGHTS). QUICK DECISION (RAILS 75'), GET TO SHOULDER. SMALL SHOULDER, DEEP DITCH WITH A STEEP DOWNHILL PITCH TO THE RIVER. JUST AS I WAS ABOUT TO ENACT THE DECISION THE ENGINE "ROARS" TO LIFE AND HITS 65MPH BEFORE I CAN REACT AND APPLY THE BRAKES MID-BRIDGE. THE WHOLE INCIDENT ONLY TOOK SECONDS, MAYBE 7 TO 10. TOOK IT, ONCE AGAIN, TO BLEVINS MOTORS, POTSDAM NY AND ONCE AGAIN WAS TOLD THAT THEIR DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER SAW NO ABNORMALITIES. THIS TIME I ASKED FOR A PRINT OUT OF SAID REPORT AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS A 'PRINT OUT'. I AM A 100% DISABLED VET WITH A HEAD INJURY AND PTSD. THIS THE SALESMAN WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FIRST THING. I DID NOT MENTION THE PTSD AS IT HAD ALWAYS BEEN MY PROBLEM AND EXPLOSIVE ANGER WAS NEVER PRESENT. THE "INJURY" WAS AFTER MONTHS OF LIES AND 'DIRTY DEALING' FROM THE START THAT THEY FINALLY 'BEAT A PATH' IN MY BRAIN TO THE ANGER PART. IT LED TO MANY VISITS WITH MY VA PSYCHOLOGIST, LOSS OF FRIENDS AS I SEEMED ABNORMALLY CONSUMED WITH MY ILL-TREATMENT BY BLEVINS, WHICH I WAS, AND TOTAL FRUSTRATION THAT I HAD NO RECOURSE VIA THE LAW BECAUSE I COULD "BLOW" AT THE LEAST SLIGHT. I HAVE TO A GREAT DEGREE PUT THE 'PTSD' BACK IN ITS BOX, BUT THE DAMAGE TO WHAT WAS AN ALREADY SLOWLY SLIPPING BRAIN THAT I HAD ACCEPTED, IT TOOK A BIG HIT DAMAGE WISE. I NO LONGER CHECK E'MAIL. THE SUNROOF ON MY LESS THAN 1 MONTH OLD 2014 GRAND CHEROKEE EXPLODED WHILE GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WITH NO OTHER CARS AROUND AND NO OVERPASSES ABOVE ME. IT JUST SHATTERED INTO A THOUSAND PIECES. IT SOUNDED LIKE A SHOTGUN BLAST. CHRYSLER DOESN'T SEEM TO THINK THEY'RE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING IT. *TR
ON 11/4/14 AFTER PARKING MY NEW JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AT GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT, ON A COMPLETELY LEVEL SURFACE, AFTER PLACING VEHICLE IN PARK, EXITING AND WALKING TOWARD STORE ENTRANCE I SAW MY CAR COMING AT ME OUT OF CORNER OF MY EYE. THE CAR HAD "POPPED" OUT OF PARK AND INTO NEUTRAL, AND WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS TOWARD ME. I WAS WAITING FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE TO PASS BY IN THE PARKING LOT ON MY WAY INTO THE STORE WHEN THIS OCCURRED. MY JEEP KEPT ROLLING SLOWLY BACKWARDS TOWARDS ME. IT COLLIDED INTO A CAR PASSING THROUGH THE PARKING LOT. THE OTHER CAR HAD 3 CHILDREN IN CAR SEATS IN THE BACK SEAT. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED, BUT I WAS MORTIFIED AT THE LOOKS ON THOSE CHILDREN'S FACES, THEY WERE VERY SCARED! I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MANY YEARS & THIS WAS NOT DRIVER ERROR. MY HUSBAND AND I TRIED NUMEROUS TIMES TO RECREATE THE SCENARIO WITHOUT SUCCESS. THE WARNING ALARM SIGNAL WOULD COME ON IF THE CAR WERE NOT IN PARK AND YOU TRIED TO EXIT IT, SO I KNOW THAT IT HAD BEEN COMPLETELY IN PARK AND HAD "POPPED OUT" AFTER I EXITED. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AT VALENCIA, CALIFORNIA SUPERSTORES CHRYSLER JEEP AND TOLD THEM OF THE INCIDENT. THEY CHECKED THE CAR AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THEY HAD IT FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM WITH IT POPPING OUT OF GEAR AND CHRYSLER CORPORATE SAID THEY HADN'T HAD COMPLAINTS. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND TO PICK IT UP. IT IS A DEFECTIVE DEATH TRAP AND I DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT AFTER THIS INCIDENT. IN RESEARCHING THE INTERNET TO SEE IF THIS HAD HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE I CAME ACROSS A BLOG FROM 10/31/13 WHERE THE SAME VEHICLE MODEL/YEAR HAD POPPED OUT OF PARK INTO REVERSE WHICH WAS ALSO REPORTED TO CHRYSLER, YET THEY CONTINUED TO SELL THESE CARS TO THE PUBLIC. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS. THEY ARE UNSAFE AND LIVES ARE AT RISK WITH THEM ON THE ROADWAYS.

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THE P60 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE RECALL (ALTERNATOR DIODE) REPAIRED SINCE EARLY NOVEMBER 2014. TWO DIFFERENT JEEP DEALERSHIPS HAVE BOTH SAID THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO MAKE THE REPAIRS AND NO ESTIMATE FOR WHEN PARTS MAY BECOME AVAILABLE. THERE IS NO WAITING LIST. THE DEALERSHIPS ADVISED TO JUST TRY CALLING BACK EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS. THE FCA CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE HELPLINE PROVIDED THE SAME INFORMATION AND ADVICE. THE RECALL NOTIFIES THE DRIVER THAT "THE DRIVER WILL HAVE LIMITED OR NO DETECTION OF THE ALTERNATOR FAILING, WHICH CAN RESULT IN VEHICLE SHUTDOWN WHILE DRIVING AND/OR AN UNDERHOOD ELECTRICAL FIRE." THE FCA HELPLINE ADVISED TO NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE IF POSSIBLE. HOW CAN YOU NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE FOR OVER SEVEN MONTHS? THE DEALERSHIPS ADVISE IT COULD BE SEVERAL ADDITIONAL MONTHS UNTIL PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. HOW IS THIS AN ACCEPTABLE RESPONSE TO A CLEARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION? *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH IN TRAFFIC THE JEEP STOPPED SHIFTING AND REMAINED STUCK IN 6TH GEAR. THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY STOPPED DOWNSHIFTING RENDERING ACCELERATION IMPOSSIBLE. THE DEALER SAID THE TRANSMISSION VALVE FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR
THIS JEEP WAS SOLD TO ME AND MY BROTHER AS A NEW VEHICLE. IT WAS PURCHASED AT FOWLER DODGE IN OKLAHOMA CITY, OK. MY BROTHER TOOK THE TRUCK TO ANOTHER DEALER TODAY AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN A BAD ACCIDENT AND HAS BEEN REPAIRED. ALL OF THE FEDERAL STICKERS HAVE BEEN REMOVED, WE FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY AS WELL AS FRAUDULENT SALE. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER AND HAVE NOT RECIEVED A RESPONSE. THE GEAR SYSTEM ALSO EMITTED A NOISE AND JERKED WHILE SHIFTING GEARS. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT STRUCK AN OBJECT WHILE DRIVING. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. IN ADDITION, THE HEATING SYSTEM FAILED. THE AIR CONDITIONER AND HEATER MADE A LOUD NOISE WHEN ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURES. THE DEALER UPGRADED THE SOFTWARE SYSTEM SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V529000 (POWER TRAIN), BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000.
ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2014, LESS THAN ONE WEEK AFTER TAKING DELIVERY OF THE CAR (IT WAS NEW),I WAS UNABLE TO PUMP GASOLINE INTO THE FUEL TANK. ATTEMPTS TO PUMP GAS DIRECTLY FROM PUMPS AT A COUPLE DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS (AND ONE TIME ATTEMPTING TO USE THE "FUNNEL" PROVIDED FOR FILLING FROM A GAS CAN) RESULTED IN THE FUEL FILLER NECK BACKING UP, DUMPING FUEL ON THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND MY HAND. MY CAR DEALER HAS INFORMED ME THAT THEY INTEND TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.. THE AUTOMOBILE HAS A CAP-LESS GAS FILLER SYSTEM. THE CAR WAS DELIVERED NEW WITH A FULL TANK OF GAS SO IT APPEARS TO HAVE DEVELOPED THE PROBLEM AFTER DELIVERY. *TR
CRUISE CONTROL PLACED AT 55 CONTINUALLY ACCELERATES & SPEEDS UP TO 80 PLUS ONCE IT CRESTS A HILL BEFORE DOWN SHIFTING OR I HAVE TO BREAK HARD TO SLOW DOWN AND SHUT CRUISE OFF.
I TOOK MY CAR IN BY APPOINTMENT TODAY AT 7:30AM TODAY (10/27) TO HELFMAN RIVER OAKS CHRYSLER, DODGE, JEEP, 4807 KIRBY DRIVE, HOUSTON,TX. I TOOK IT IN FOR RECALL P36, SUN VISOR WIRING. THE RECALL LETTER SAYS THE REPAIR CAN BE DONE IN 1.6 HOURS. HOWEVER THE SERVICE ADVISOR TELLS ME AT 7:30AM THAT THE CAR WILL NOT BE READY FOR 2 DAYS. I ASK TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A LATER DAY, WHEN THE RECALL CAN BE DONE WITHIN 1 DAY. HE TELLS ME THE RECALL WILL REQUIRE 2 DAYS NO MATTER WHEN I BRING IT IN , AND I CAN'T MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE RECALL DONE IN ONE DAY. THIS PRACTICE WILL SIMPLY ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO NOT DO THE RECALL SERVICE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PRACTICE. WHAT GOOD IS A RECALL LETTER, IF THE DEALER WILL ALWAYS REQUIRE 2 DAYS TO DO THE RECALL SERVICE- EVEN THOUGH THE RECALL LETTER STATES IT SHOULD TAKE 1.6 HOURS, AND THE OWNER IS WILLING TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT IN THE FUTURE FOR THE RECALL SERVICE. THIS IS EFFECTIVELY DISCOURAGING OWNERS FROM DOING THE SAFETY RECALL. *TR

ATTEMPTED TO HAVE JEEP/CHRYSLER RECALL P14 (BRAKE BOOSTER) AND P36 (SUNVISOR WIRING) COMPLETED. FAIR OAKS CHANTILLY JEEP CHRYSLER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE BUT STATED THERE WAS A NATION-WIDE SHORTAGE OF PARTS AND THE BRAKE RECALL COULD NOT BE COMPLETED FOR 2-3 MONTHS. AFTER TALKING TO THE CHRYSLER CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE HOTLINE, I WAS ADVISED CHRYSLER DOES NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT PARTS IN STOCK TO HANDLE ALL OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER RECALLS. WHEN ASKED FOR ADDITIONAL DETAILS I WAS TOLD THE REASON BEHIND THE PARTS SHORTAGE WAS "CONFIDENTIAL." I WAS FURTHER ADVISED TO "DRIVE SLOW" AND "AVOID USING THE CAR AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE." THEY CONFIRMED THE WAIT TIME FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS TO "ADDRESS THIS IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUES" WAS 2-3 MONTHS. *TR
MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ECODIESEL SHUDDERS/VIBRATES INTERMITTENTLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. EVIDENTLY, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS PARTICULAR MODEL, AND SO MUCH SO THAT IT NOW HAS A NAME, "FISH BITES". AT LEAST ONE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN AND POSSIBLY EVEN MORE (MANY HAVE SIMILAR SYMPTOMS) HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THE DRIVETRAIN AS THE SOURCE AND HAVE ATTEMPTED TO RESOLVE IT WITH SOFTWARE FLASHES. AFTER NUMEROUS VISITS TO THE DEALER TO CORRECT THE ISSUE, THE "FISH BITES" ARE STILL HAPPENING, AND ARE GETTING INCREASINGLY WORSE. UNFORTUNATELY, AFTER THE LAST VISIT AND BEING TOLD IT HAD BEEN RESOLVED, I HAD TO FIND OUT THAT THE ATTEMPTED FIX DID NOT WORK WHILE ON A TIGHT TWO-LANE ROAD. THE OCCURRENCE NEARLY CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL AT HIGH SPEED. PROSPECTIVE BUYERS OF THIS MODEL SHOULD RECOGNIZE THAT IT MAY BE UNSAFE, AS THIS UNRESOLVED ISSUE WAS CLEARLY A HAZARD TO MYSELF AND TO THE VEHICLES IN CLOSE PROXIMITY. *TR
I RECEIVED A SUN VISOR WARNING RECALL IN THE MAIL ON MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN SEPTEMBER (RECALL P36 / NHTSA 14V-391). I WAS TOLD THE PART WAS NOT IN AND THEY COULD NOT ADVISE ON WHEN IT WOULD ARRIVE. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN IT ARRIVED. IT IS NOW THURS NOV 13 AND I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THE DEALER. HARD OR ROUGH SHIFT FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR WHEN TRANSMISSION IS COLD AS IN THE FIRST USE OF THE DAY.IF DONE DURING HARD ACCELERATION FEELS AS THOUGH TRANSMISSION WILL DROP OUT OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER TRANSMISSION WARMS UP TO APPROX 170 DEGREES SHIFTING BECOMES SMOOTH. ALSO SLIPPING TYPE ACTION WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP WHEN TRANSMISSION SHIFTS FROM 2ND TO 1ST.
OCTOBER 13, 2014 MY 2014 GR CHER HAS THE MOST DANGEROUS SHIFTER DESIGN I'VE EVER USED IN A MOTOR VEHICLE! THE IGNITION SWITCH DOES NOT KILL THE ENGINE IF THE VEHICLE IS IN GEAR EVEN IF THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED. THE SHIFTER DOES NOT ALWAYS ENTER PARK WHEN OPERATED WHICH CREATES THE POSSIBILITY THAT THE VEHICLE MAY DRIVE OFF WHEN THE DRIVER BELIEVES HE HAS STOPPED IT.. COMBINED WITH THE QUIETNESS OF THE MOTOR, AMBIENT NOISE MAY MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO KNOW THAT THE VEHICLE IS IN GEAR WITH THE MOTOR RUNNING! AFTER PULLING INTO MY GARAGE WITH LANDSCAPERS WORKING IN THE YARD, I THOUGHT I HAD PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND HIT THE IGNITION BUTTON TO TURN IT OFF. UNFORTUNATELY, THE SHIFTER KEPT THE CAR ENGAGED IN REVERSE. AND, THE MOTOR DIDN'T TURN OFF! NOT ONLY DID THE ENGINE NOT SHUT OFF, BUT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DRIVE BACKWARD AS I EXITED THE DRIVER'S SEAT. FORTUNATELY, I JUMPED BACK INTO THE VEHICLE AND AVOIDED BEING CRUSHED BETWEEN THE OPEN CAR DOOR AND THE GARAGE DOOR FRAME. UNFORTUNATELY, THE CAR BACKED OUT OF THE GARAGE WITH THE DOOR OPEN CAUSING $4,000 DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THIS IS MY 8TH GRAND CHEROKEE (SINCE 1983) AND I AM VERY, VERY UNHAPPY WITH JEEP'S DESIGNERS. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED. AND I SHOULD BE MADE WHOLE FOR THE $4,000 BODY WORK!
I PLACED MY 2014 GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND (4 MONTHS OLD 1900 MILES) IN PARK AND LEFT IT RUNNING WHILE EXITING TO GET MY MAIL FROM MY MAILBOX. UPON EXITING, I VALIDATED MY JEEP WAS IN PARK ON THE SHIFTER. IT DID NOT MOVE WHEN I LET OFF THE BREAK (ON COMPLETE LEVEL GROUND), THE BACKUP CAMERA DISPLAY WAS NOT PRESENT, AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT CHIME WHEN EXITING TO SHOW THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN GEAR. I DID NOT HAVE THE EMERGENCY BREAK ACTIVATED. I WALKED 50 FEET TO MY MAILBOX AS I NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING IN REVERSE TOWARDS MY NEIGHBOR'S HOUSE. I RAN AFTER IT AS IT DROVE THROUGH MY NEIGHBOR'S LANDSCAPING AND WAS READY TO RUN INTO HIS GARAGE DOOR. I CAUGHT UP TO THE VEHICLE, JUMPED IN IT SIDEWAYS TO HIT THE BREAK, WAS THROWN OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND IT SLAMMED INTO THE GARAGE DOOR. HAD I NOT PARTIALLY STOPPED THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO FULL IMPACT, THE DAMAGE WOULD HAVE BEEN EVEN EXTENSIVE. LUCKILY I JUST HAD MINOR CUTS AND BRUISES AND NO ONE ELSE WAS HURT, BUT THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE BUMPER OF MY JEEP (STRESS MARKS AND PAINT DAMAGE) AND I HAD TO REPLACE MY NEIGHBOR'S FULL GARAGE DOOR. I TOOK MY JEEP INTO MY DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY (10/13/14) AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT REPEAT THE ISSUE, HOWEVER, THEY HAD TO APPLY A TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT CONTROLLED DOWNSHIFTING GEAR RATIOS ABOUT COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. I FIND THIS IRONIC THIS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MY TIMELY TRANSMISSION ISSUE. AS I HAVE SEEN MANY MORE CASES AND NEWS STORIES REPORTED ON THIS ISSUE, I WANTED TO ENSURE I REPORTED MINE TO HELP JEEP TAKE NEEDED ACTION TO PREVENT ANY FURTHER ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES.

HOWEVER, THE DEALER SAYS THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PART AND ARE EXPECTING THE PART TO ARRIVE ANY DAY. I LIVE IN NORTHERN NEW YORK (ALONG CANADIAN BORDER), SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE VERY COMMON AND POTENTIALLY WILL BE HERE VERY SOON. CHRYSLER IS DISTRIBUTING TO ALL DEALERSHIPS EQUALLY, BUT MAYBE THEY SHOULD BE TAKING CARE OF THE DEALERSHIPS/CUSTOMERS THAT THIS PROBLEM COULD POTENTIALLY AFFECT (VERY NORTHERN, WHO EXPERIENCE SUB-FREEZING WEATHER).
