CAN'T START THE ENGINE. ALL THE ELECTRONIC S IN THE CAR START BLINKING AND ON MONITOR SHOWS THAT I DIDN'T PRESS A START ENGINE BOTTOM. BUT I DID. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO .IT HAPPENS ALREADY TREE TIMES TODAY. *TR
TRAVELING AT REDUCED SPEEDS ON INTERSTATE, AFTER PASSING AN ACCIDENT (WET CONDITIONS/RAIN), I FOUND THE CAR STARTING TO LOSE TRACTION WITH THE ROAD. I LIVE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WITH POTENTIALLY TROUBLED ROADWAYS, HOWEVER THIS WAS INTERSTATE 15 IN SAN DIEGO, AND WITHIN SEPARATED CARPOOL LANES. AS I CONTINUED ON CAUTIOUSLY AT ROUGHLY 60MPH DUE TO CONDITIONS AND UNSURE OF THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, I FELT THE CAR SLIP, AND SLIDE, THE REAR END STARTING TO DRIFT TOWARD EDGE OF LANE, I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM GAS AND ALLOWED CAR TO REGAIN TRACTION. WAS FORCED TO CRAWL AT ROUGHLY 45MPH TO FEEL SAFE AGAIN. A NATIVE OF OREGON WHERE RAIN IS A ROUTINE PART OF LIFE, THIS OCCURRENCE FALLS BEYOND THE REALM OF EXPECTED PERFORMANCE. THE GRAND CHEROKEE IS ONE OF THE HEAVIEST CARS ON THE ROAD, MAKING THIS ISSUE PERPLEXING. AT THE TIME OF OCCURRENCE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WAS EXPERIENCING MODERATE RAIN THROUGHOUT THE MONTH DISPELLING MUCH CREDIT FOR OIL ACCUMULATION ON THE ROADWAYS, AS IS USUALLY INDICATED. WHEN I CAME TO THINK ABOUT THE ISSUE I REMEMBERED A FEW WEEKS PRIOR ON A WET ROADWAY (NOT RAINING) AS I ACCELERATED FROM A RED LIGHT MY REAR TIRES SPUN, AND I HAD TO RELEASE THE GAS TO REGAIN TRACTION AS WELL. THE REASON I AM REPORTING IS I BROUGHT THIS SCARY INCIDENT UP TO A FRIEND WHO ALSO OWNED A NEWER GRAND CHEROKEE (2013), AND WAS APPALLED TO HEAR OF SIMILAR OCCURRENCES. THIS HAS GREATLY DIMINISHED MY TRUST IN THE VEHICLE. MY OWN STEPS WERE TO UPGRADE TIRES WHICH ARE FALKEN ZIEX S/TZ05 SIDE 285/40R22XL 110H, TO YOKOHAMA OF THE SAME SIZE, AND REPORT TO DEALER. HOWEVER I AM SKEPTICAL THIS WOULD BE A FIX, AS THE FALKEN TREAD (JUST 4,000MILES INTO USE) LOOKS MORE THAN CAPABLE OF DISPERSING WATER. WITH INFREQUENT RAIN, IT MAY BE QUITE SOME TIME BEFORE CONDITIONS REPEAT THEMSELVES, AND I WOULD FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE GETTING UP TO (AGAIN 60MPH) MODERATE SPEEDS. *TR
I HAVE A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE DIESEL. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON... TOOK TO DEALER. THEY FLASHED IT . CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THIS TIME THE CAR GAVE ME A WARNING THAT IT WOULD GO INTO LIMP MODE IN 150 MILES. TOOK TO DEALER. IT IS PARKED THEY SAY ITS THE PRE-CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. NO TIME LINE ON GETTING PART OR VEHICLE BACK. THIS LIMP MODE IS A MAJOR DANGER. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THERE WERE 46 "PARKED" JEEPS WAITING FOR THE PART. I REGULARLY TAKE MY JEEP INTO THE OUTDOORS I COULD BE STRANDED IF THE JEEP WENT INTO LIMP MODE PUTTING ME IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.

LIGHTS KEEP FLASHING INTERMITTENTLY AND BLIND SPOT MONITORING SYSTEM WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. THESE ARE SAFETY HAZARDS. *TR
ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS VEHICLE HAD ISSUE SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR LURCHING FORWARD EVEN WHEN AT A STOP AND MY FOOT WAS ON THE BREAK. THE VEHICLE ALSO HAD THREE ISSUES WITH THE DEF SENSORS WHICH WERE WORKED ON OR REPLACED THREE SEPARATE TIMES. SINCE THE LAST FIXED WAS JUST DONE ON OR APPROXIMATELY AROUND FEBRUARY 1ST , I WILL BE WAITING TO SEE IF THE ISSUE CONTINUES. THE LATEST ISSUE IS HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE CATALYST. IT'S HAVING AN ISSUE SENSING THAT THE VEHICLE IS CREATING ENOUGH HEAT TO BURN OFF BY PRODUCT. IT IS SLATED TO BE REPLACED WITHIN TWO WEEKS. I HAVE BEEN NOTIFYING JEEP ABOUT ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS. I HAVE A CASE MANAGER WORKING ON THE PROBLEMS. I HAVE READ SEVERAL SITES THAT SHOW THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH AN EXPOSED DEF SENSOR WHICH JEEP IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING. IT IS THE NEW ECO-DIESEL ENGINE. *TR

OUR SUV IS EQUIPPED WITH COLLISION AVOIDANCE AND ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL. THE VEHICLE HAS REPEATEDLY AND WITHOUT CAUSE EITHER ALARMED OR IN SOME CASES SLOWED TO AVOID A COLLISION THAT IS NOT EMINENT (I.E. ALONG A STRAIGHT SECTION OF HIGHWAY WITH NO VEHICLE OR OBJECT WITHIN SIGHT OF THE CAR). THE SYSTEM HAS PROVIDED MULTIPLE FALSE ALARMS AND WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE A PATTERN OR TRIGGER. ADDITIONALLY THE CAR REPORTS AT TIMES THAT THE ACC IS INOPERABLE AND THEN MOMENTS LATER THE FAULT MESSAGE DISAPPEARS. THE CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE TO ADDRESS. TO DATE THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND JEEP IS UNWILLING TO REPLACE ANY PARTS OR ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM UNTIL IT IS REPLICATED FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO WITNESS.
WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE OR PARK IT IS DIFFICULT TO KNOW YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT GEAR. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS I SHIFT FROM DRIVE INTO PARK AND THE CAR DID NOT GO INTO PARK. WHEN I STEPPED OUT THE CAR WAS ROLLING DOWN HILL AND ALMOST RAN OVER MY FOOT. THIS ELECTRONIC GEAR SHIFTER IS TERRIBLE IT IS DIFFICULT TO GO INTO AND OUT OF GEARS SAFELY. THIS IS JUST A POOR DESIGN AND UNSAFE. *TR

ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS ROLLED UNEXPECTEDLY ONCE THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN PUT INTO PARK AND THE ENGINE TURNED OFF. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I DROVE INTO A SLOPED DRIVEWAY. I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK, TURNED OFF THE CAR, AND SAT IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT TO COMPOSE AN E-MAIL. MY FOOT CONTINUED TO BE ON THE BRAKE. A MINUTE OR SO LATER, WHEN I COMPLETED MY TASK, I OPENED THE DOOR AND BEGAN TO GET OUT, HAVING NOT PUT ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. AS IT WAS A GENTLE SLOPE, I DID NOT NOTICE THE CAR BEGINNING TO ROLL IMMEDIATELY, BUT ONCE OUTSIDE THE CAR I REALIZED IT WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS. I TURNED AND GOT BACK INTO THE CAR AND APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, ALMOST FALLING IN THE PROCESS. AT THE TIME I THOUGHT THAT I MIGHT HAVE PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL RATHER THAN PARK, AS THE GEAR SHIFT IS ELECTRONIC, AND IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT IN FEEL FROM OLDER TRANSMISSIONS. BELIEVING THAT IT WAS MY ERROR, I DID NOTHING ABOUT THIS. THEN, OVER THIS PAST WEEKEND IT HAPPENED AGAIN, AND I WROTE TO JEEP VIA THEIR OWNER PORTAL, TO ENSURE THAT IT WAS REPORTED. ON DECEMBER 3RD, I SCHEDULED A SERVICE FOR FRIDAY DECEMBER 5TH. YESTERDAY, DECEMBER 4TH, I TOOK THE CAR TO A CAR WASH. THE ATTENDANT WAS DOING DETAIL WORK, AND AFTER TAKING IT THROUGH THE WASH, HE PARKED IT. I WALKED TOWARD THE CAR, AND HE GOT OUT OF THE CAR ONCE HE HAD PUT IT INTO PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. HE EXITED JUST AS I GOT TO THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE CORNER. THE CAR BEGAN TO ROLL AGAIN, AND WAS ON A SLOPE. HAD THE ATTENDANT NOT JUMPED BACK INTO THE CAR AND APPLIED THE BRAKE, BOTH OF US WOULD HAVE BEEN PINNED IN PLACE, ME BETWEEN THE DOOR AND A LARGE CEMENT PLANTER, AND HE BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE INTERIOR. I QUICKLY VIDEOTAPED THE ATTENDANT BRIEFLY RECOUNTING THE STORY, AND OBTAINED HIS CONTACT INFORMATION, AS WELL. THE JEEP IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
GEAR SHIFT TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF GEAR WHEN I PUT IT IN PARK IT WILL GO BACK TO REVERSE AT TIMES WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE GOING DOWN THE ROAD IT WILL JUMP TO S.-DEFROSTER DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY WHEN WINDOWS ARE STEAMED IT DOES NOT TAKE IT AWAY. BLUE TOOTH WORKS SOMETIMES AND OTHER TIMES IT DOES NOT. THE GEAR SHIFT DOES IT SOMETIMES IN PARK AND OTHER TIMES IN MOTION. THE DEFROSTER NEVER TAKES AWAY THE STEAM OFF WINDOWS.

THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2014 GRAND CHEROKEE BUT ONLY FOR MODELS MANUFACTURED FROM JANUARY 5, 2010, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 8, 2013. OUR GRAND CHEROKEE WAS MANUFACTURED IN NOVEMBER OF 2013 AND IS THEREFORE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL. OUR JEEP WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER, THEY TOLD US IT HAD FILLED WITH WATER (EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL FIXES). WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STOPPED WORKING AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. TWO DAYS LATER IT STOP WORKING WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND WHEN IT WAS DOWN SHIFTING IT BECAME JERKY AND WOULD LUNGE FORWARD. IT ALSO STARTED MAKING A NOISE WHEN PUT INTO REVERSE AND THE DASH SAID THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE PUT INTO GEAR WHILE I WAS DRIVING. IT IS BACK AT THE GARAGE AGAIN TO BE FIXED. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT CHRYSLER STOPPED USING THIS TRANSMISSION AT THE END OF 11/2013 BECAUSE OF THESE PROBLEMS. ON NOVEMBER 17TH, AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS DRIVING FORWARD, THE CAR SHIFTED FROM 2ND GEAR BACK TO FIRST GEAR. THE CAR PRACTICALLY SKIDDED TO SHIFT BACK TO FIRST. I WAS THROWN FORWARD IN THE CAR. LUCKILY, I WEAR MY SEATBELT. IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST AFTER THAT. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT. THEY SAID SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIX THE TRANSMISSION, BUT WOULD REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. THEY SAID WITH A CAR THIS NEW, THEY DO NOT HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE TO FIXING THE TRANSMISSIONS. THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND DROVE IT 200 MILES. THEY SAID IT IS FIXED. I PICKED IT UP ON A MONDAY, NOVEMBER 24 AND DROVE IT HOME. THE NEXT DAY, I HAD THE PROBLEM AGAIN. WHEN TURNING ON 4 LANE ROAD (2 IN ONE DIRECTION AND TWO IN ANOTHER), THE VEHICLE STARTED TO GO ACROSS THE INTERSECTION. IT APPEARED TO TRY TO SHIFT TO 2ND, BUT THE CAR STOPPED MOVING (LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL). I HAD TO START BLOWING THE HORN AS ONCOMING CARS WERE COMING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THEY PICKED THE CAR UP AND DROVE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY RAN NUMEROUS TESTS ON THE CAR AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY CALLED AND TOLD ME THE CAR WAS READY. I HAVE SEVERE RESERVATION ABOUT GETTING BACK IN A VEHICLE THAT I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IN AND DRIVE IT AWAY WHEN I KNOW, THE DEALERSHIP KNOWS AND CHRYSLER KNOWS, THEY COULDN?T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THEY DIDN?T FIX ANYTHING. SO, BASICALLY, I WILL BE DRIVING A TICKING TIME BOMB THAT COULD BLOW UP AT ANY TIME. MY WIFE, KIDS AND GRANDKIDS COULD BE IN JEOPARDY AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD.
