THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY ACTIVATES THE FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM. SOMETIMES IT ENGAGES THE BRAKES, SOMETIMES IT JUST FLASHES THE BRAKE WARNING ON THE DASHBOARD. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS WHERE WE WERE ALMOST REAR ENDED DUE TO THE SUDDEN UNEXPECTED HARD APPLICATION OF THE BRAKES. AT NO TIME DURING THESE EVENTS WERE THERE ANY OBSTACLES, VEHICLES OR OTHER OBJECTS ANYWHERE NEAR THE FRONT OF THE CAR!!! I AM NOT SURE IF THE SYSTEM IS STILL FUNCTIONING IF IT IS ACTUALLY NEEDED. JEEP FOR THEIR PART HAS BEEN COMPLETELY UNHELPFUL, IT HAS TAKEN OVER A MONTH TO GET THE PART AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM UNSUCCESSFULLY. THEY REFUSED TO EVEN GIVE ME A RENTAL CAR UNTIL THE OTHER DAY, SAYING IT WASN'T REALLY A BIG DEAL NOR UNDRIVEABLE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
OUR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS BEEN HAS BEEN HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. SEVERAL DIFFERENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS OCCUR AFTER WHICH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE. OF THESE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THE DANGEROUS ONES INCLUDE: HEADLIGHTS SHUTTING OFF, DASHBOARD COMPLETELY SHUTTING, AND VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE IN MOTION. WE HAVE HAD THE FOLLOWING REPLACE IN OUR VEHICLE: BURNT WIRES IN OUR ENGINE HARNESS, FAULTY SOLENOID, ALTERNATOR, PCM, AND ABS MODULE. THE ISSUE STILL OCCURS. PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN DEC WE'VE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE 3-4 TIMES. WHILE WE HAVEN'T FILED FOR LEMON LAW YET, JEEP PROMISED US THAT THEY WOULD TAKE A LOOK AT REPLACING OUR VEHICLE AFTER A NUMBER OF PROBLEM. THEIR ANSWER TO US WAS TO WAIT TO SEE IF THE ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN. WHILE WE MAY FILE FOR LEMON LAW, WE FEEL THAT IT WILL BE IMPORTANT THAT WE REPORT THESE ISSUES AS THEY ARE EXPERIENCED BY OTHER CONSUMERS ON FORUMS ACROSS THE INTERNET. *TR

ON THE MORNING OF THURSDAY 3/6/14, AS I WAS LEAVING FOR WORK, I STOPPED MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AT THE END OF MY DRIVEWAY TO PICK UP MY NEWSPAPER. (I THOUGHT) I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND EXITED MY VEHICLE. AS I WAS PICKING UP THE PAPER, I REALIZED THE CAR WAS ROLLING BACKWARD, DOWN THE REMAINDER OF MY DRIVEWAY AND ACROSS MY CUL-DE-SAC. AS I RAN BESIDE THE CAR I SAW THE CAR WAS IN REVERSE. I WAS CERTAIN I HAD PUT THE CAR IN PARK! REALIZING THAT NOTHING WAS GOING TO STOP THE CAR UNTIL IT HIT SOMETHING (OPTIONS WERE A FIRE HYDRANT OR MY NEIGHBOR'S HOUSE,) I FOOLISHLY ATTEMPTED TO JUMP IN THE CAR TO STOP IT. I MISSED.... BADLY. AFTER TRYING TO JUMP INTO A MOVING VEHICLE AND MISSING, I FELL TO THE STREET. I WAS ON MY BACK. AT THAT MOMENT I KNEW THAT I WAS GOING TO BE RUN OVER. I DID NOT KNOW WHERE I WAS IN RELATION TO THE CAR AND, IN THAT SPLIT SECOND, PREPARED FOR THE WORST. I COUNTED MYSELF "LUCKY" WHEN THE VEHICLE "ONLY" RAN OVER MY LEFT LOWER LEG, ANKLE AND FOOT! THE VEHICLE CAME TO REST, LUCKILY, IN A SNOWBANK ACROSS THE STREET FROM MY HOUSE (PICTURE ATTACHED). AAA WAS CALLED TO PULL THE CAR OFF THE SNOWBANK, AS IT HIGH-CENTERED. I SOUGHT MEDICAL TREATMENT. I HAD A BADLY SPRAINED ANKLE AND DAMAGE TO MY LEFT FOOT ARCH. I HAVE NOT WALKED CORRECTLY SINCE AND CONTINUE TO HAVE PAIN IN THE ARCH OF MY FOOT AND KNEES. WHILE I TOLD MY NEIGHBORS AND CIRCLE OF FRIENDS, I DID NOT NOTIFY MY CAR DEALER AS I THOUGHT THE INCIDENT WAS MY NEGLIGENCE BY NOT PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK. IT HAS ONLY BEEN THROUGH THE RECENT MEDIA THAT I REALIZE THAT I AM ANOTHER VICTIM OF THIS VEHICLE'S GEAR SHIFT DEFECT.
ON 03/04/2014, THE VEHICLE, A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WAS OBSERVED TO HAVE EXTENSIVE RUST ON THE BRAKE ROTOR HUBS. THE RUST IS DETERIORATING THE PAINT EXPOSING THE METAL HUB TO SEVERE CORROSION. THIS MAY OVER TIME MINIMIZE THE SAFETY OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO SENT PHOTOS TO CHRYSLER DIGITAL IMAGING. CHRYSLER DENIED THE CLAIM UNDER WARRANTY STATING THAT THE CORROSION IS CONSIDERED NORMAL WEAR. THE VEHICLE HAD ONLY 6200 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. *TR
I HAVE OWNED A NEW 2014 GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED V6 FOR SIX MONTHS AND HAVE EXPERIENCED ROUGH SHIFTING WITH MY TRANSMISSION FROM DAY 1. THE TRANSMISSION IS ESPECIALLY ROUGH WHEN COLD AND/OR SHIFTING FROM 1->2->3 AND 2->1 DOWNSHIFTS. I HAVE BROUGHT IT IN TO JEEP NUMEROUS TIMES FOR A FIX, THE DEALER RECOGNIZES THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT SHIFTING SMOOTH OR CORRECT, BUT SAYS UNTIL THERE'S A FIX OR UPDATE FROM JEEP, THERE'S NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE. IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING TO SPEND $45K ON A NEW VEHICLE THAT HAS "JERKY" TRANSMISSION SHIFTING, TO THE POINT WHERE I CANNOT USE MY VEHICLE WITH BUSINESS CLIENTS DUE TO THE HARSH RIDE. I'VE BEEN ON MULTIPLE JEEP FORUMS AND BASED ON THE NUMBER OF POSTINGS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, THE DISCONTENT IS WIDESPREAD AMONG JEEP OWNERS AND FANS. WITH THE ISSUE GETTING WORSE OVER TIME, I'M CONCERNED MY TRANSMISSION WILL FAIL AND BECOME A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED, WHO MADE HIM AWARE THAT THERE WAS A WAITING LIST IN ORDER TO GET THE REPAIR COMPLETED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE DELAY. THE CONTACT DID NOT EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
I WAS AT A FULL STOP. I MADE A LEFT TURN AND THE VEHICLE JUST ACCELERATED MORE THAN EXPECTED AND RAN INTO A TREE. THE TREE WAS UNEARTHED, THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. IT WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *TR

THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT HAD RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V154000 (SERVICE BRAKES , SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND STATED THAT THE BRAKE FAILURE THAT WAS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL WAS THE FAILURE THAT SHE EXPERIENCED, WHICH SHE BELIEVED WAS THE CAUSE OF THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
PURCHASED MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN FEBRUARY OF 2014. VEHICLE RANDOMLY DISPLAYS "PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED" AND THE BRAKE LIGHT KEEPS FLASHING. EVEN WHEN THE MESSAGE DOES NOT DISPLAY THE BRAKE LIGHT WILL RANDOMLY START FLASHING AND DOESN'T STOP. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN JUNE. THEY TELL ME THIS ISSUE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES BUT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. *TR
ONE HEAD LIGHT IN MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IS OBVIOUSLY BRIGHTER THAN THE OTHER. UPON INSPECTION OF THE HEADLIGHTS THEY ARE NOTICEABLY DIFFERENT. ONE ISSUE AFTER ANOTHER WITH THIS VEHICLE ! *TR
BLIND SPOT MONITORING SYSTEM IS ERRATIC AND HAS BEEN SINCE DAY 1 OF OWNERSHIP. WORKS WHEN IT FEELS LIKE IT. VERY DANGEROUS.

THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V240000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
THE VEHICLE SLIPPED INTO "MANUAL SHIFT MODE" SEEMINGLY ON IT'S OWN NOT ALLOWING THE TRANSMISSION TO SHIFT AFTER I PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. IT WAS THEN STUCK IN 2ND GEAR (8 SPEED TRANSMISSION) AND THE TACHOMETER WENT TO REDLINE (OVER 6500 RPM)AS I WAS EXPECTING TO INCREASE TO NORMAL DRIVING SPEED. THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR IT COULD HAVE LEFT ME IN THE ONCOMING LANE TOO LONG. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. I REPORTED TO THE DEALER AND I AM TOLD THIS IS MANUAL MODE AND NORMAL BEHAVIOR. THE PLACEMENT OF THE MANUAL SHIFT PADDLES ON THE STEERING WHEEL MAKE IT CONVENIENT TO EXTEND A FINGER AND SHIFT UP OR DOWN. THIS PLACEMENT ALSO MEANS YOU REPEATEDLY GO INTO MANUAL SHIFT MODE WHEN YOU DO NOT WANT TO. WHEN TURNING LEFT ACROSS A FEW LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC IT CAN BE DANGEROUS. THERE IS NO WAY TO PREVENT THIS AS THE SHIFT PADDLES ARE ACTIVE ALL OF THE TIME AND ANY TOUCH PUTS YOU IN MANUAL AND THE ONLY WAY OUT IS TO PULL BACK ON THE CONSOLE SHIFT LEVER AND SWITCH TO SPORT MODE THEN AGAIN TO DRIVE MODE WHICH IS WHERE I STARTED OR CONTINUE MANUALLY SHIFTING. WHILE MANUAL SHIFTING IS AN OPTION THAT MAY BE NEEDED WHEN "4 WHEELING" OVER ROCK OR IN MUD ETC., THERE SHOULD BE A WAY TO SELECT IT WHEN WANTED AND NOT HAVE IT POP IN AT RANDOM. ALL IT WOULD TAKE IS SOME PROGRAMMING OF THE TRANSMISSION TO REQUIRE THAT BOTH SHIFT PADDLES BE HELD DOWN FOR A FEW SECOND UNTIL THE DISPLAY SAYS "MANUAL SHIFT MODE ON" BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION IS ALLOWED TO SHIFT USING THE PADDLES. IT COULD BE TURNED OFF IN THE SAME MANNER. NO PARTS OR EXTRA HARDWARE NEEDED, JUST PROGRAMMING. *TR

I TOOK MY NEW JEEP TO THE CAR WASH AND THEN BROUGHT IT BACK TO MY SHOP. I WAS DRYING IT OFF WHEN I NOTICED A LOT OF CONDENSATION IN BOTH HEADLIGHTS. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A WELL KNOWN DEFECT, BUT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. HE SUGGESTED THAT I LEAVE THE LIGHTS ON SO THAT THEY WOULD DRY OUT...UPDATED 04-10-14 *BF *TR UPDATED 8/17/17*CN

THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 800.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, TOOK TO SERVICE GARAGE. DIAGNOSED WITH CK DTC'S-P0302 #2 CYLINDER MISFIRE. SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLAIMS THEY ROAD TESTED -ISSUE CLEARED. I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE, DROVE APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES WITH SAME ISSUE. I CALLED DEALER, THEY SAID TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR A WEEK OR SO, AND SEE IF IT FIXES ITSELF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE A MODULE WAS ORDERED IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,500.
THE CAR ALARM CONTINUES TO GO OFF ON ITS OWN. I HAVE ALREADY HAD A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THE RADIO, PHONE PAIRING, ETC. HAVE TRIED TO SET THE ALARM REMOTELY BY PHONE, BY LOCKING VEHICLE FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND ALSO BY TOUCHING BUTTON ON DOOR HANDLE. NO MATTER HOW I LOCK THE VEHICLE THE SAME THING CONTINUES TO HAPPEN WITH THE ALARM GOING OFF. *TR
SINCE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE IN APRIL OF 2013 THERE HAVE BEEN SIX SAFETY RELATED RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST TWO WERE QUICKLY FIXED. SINCE THEN, AND OVER THE LAST YEAR WE HAD ACCUMULATED AN ADDITIONAL FOUR RECALLS. EACH COMES WITH A WARNING FROM CHRYSLER THAT THIS IS AN "IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL NOTICE." THE RECALLS ARE AS FOLLOWS; SUN VISOR WIRING OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE BRAKE BOOSTER ALTERNATOR WE HAVE MADE AT LEAST FOUR TRIPS INTO AUTO NATION CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP IN AT 120 116TH AVE NE BELLEVUE, WA 98004 TO TRY AND GET THESE ITEMS FIXED. EACH TIME WE ARE TOLD THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND THEY HAVE NO ESTIMATE AS TO WHEN THE PARTS MAY BE AVAILABLE. THEY HAVE BEEN PRETTY DISMISSIVE AND DO NOT SEEM TO GIVE THE IMPRESSION THAT THEY UNDERSTAND THIS IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO CORRECT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS CONFIRMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 400.

THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED IN EXCESS. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVESHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE UPGRADED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.

HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH THE LED DRIVING LIGHTS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. BEEN IN FOR SERVICE 4 TIMES SO FAR AND STILL NOT FIXED. I OBTAINED A LAWYER BECAUSE THE TRUCK IS UNDER THE OHIO STATE LEMON LAW. WHILE DRIVING UPHILL, IN WET OR RAINY CONDITIONS, THE NEW JEEP DIESEL 3.0L ENGINE STARTS TO HESITATE, THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO VIBRATE SEVERELY. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS AT 40MPH, AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY REFLASHED THE TCM WHICH I BELIEVE CHANGED THE SHIFT POINTS IN THE TRANSMISSION, WHILE DRIVING HOME THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED, THIS TIME AT 45MPH. I TOOK THE JEEP BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REFLASHED THE PCM, WHEN DRIVING HOME THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED, THIS TIME AT 50MPH. THE WAY THE STEERING WHEEL ON THE NEW JEEP IS DESIGNED, WHEN YOU GO TO MAKE A TURN, ITEMS ON YOUR SLEEVES (ZIPPERS, BUTTONS, OR BRACELETS) CAN GET WEDGED IN BETWEEN THE PAD THAT COVERS THE HORN AREA OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE WHEEL IT SELF. ONCE THIS HAPPENS, THE OBJECT GETS LODGED INTO PLACE AND YOU CANNOT REMOVE IT, AND YOU ALSO CANNOT PROPERLY STEER THE VEHICLE. THE ONLY RECOURSE IS TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND WORK THE ITEM LOOSE. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RELIABLY SELECT THE PARK POSITION AND IN GENERAL IT IS VERY AWKWARD TO SELECT ANY GEAR WITHOUT PUTTING INTO THE WRONG GEAR, REVERSE FOR FORWARD, NEUTRAL FOR REVERSE, ETC , .
