VEHICLE WAS IN A LEVEL PARKING LOT WITH A BOAT AND TRAILER ATTACHED. VEHICLE WAS IN PARK CONFIGURATION WITH ENGINE RUNNING. VEHICLE WAS LEFT UNATTENDED FOR ABOUT 1 MINUTE AND IT ROLLED ABOUT 100 FEET, THROUGH THE PARKING LOT AND ACROSS A ROAD AND DOWN A LEVEE WHERE IT HIT A TREE ON THE LEFT FRONT SIDE. THE DRIVER WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE WHEN IT HIT THE TREE. THE CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL ARRIVED AT THE SCENE AND THERE WAS NO CITATION ISSUED. THERE WAS NO OTHER PROPERTY DAMAGE OTHER THAN TO THE VEHICLE AND THE BOAT TRAILER. THE INSURANCE COMPANY PAID FOR THE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE LESS THE DEDUCTIBLE.

THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 13V483000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM , ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL , SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND STATED THAT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO SERVICE THE 2014 MODEL YEAR VEHICLES UNTIL JANUARY 2014 BECAUSE ONLY ONE RECALL REMEDY REPAIR WAS BEING PERFORMED PER DAY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,100.
FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 2 WEEKS THE POWER STEERING ASSIST STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GIVES A "POWER STEERING WARNING" AND ALL HYDRAULIC ASSISTANCE FAILS. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES OF THIS HAPPENING, THE ENGINE ALSO GETS HOT. I LIVE N THE TEXAS HILL COUNTRY. THIS FAILURE RESULTS A LARGE INCREASE IN STEERING EFFORT ON THE LOCAL HILLY AND CURVED ROADS AND THE ABILITY TO TAKE EVASIVE MANEUVERS IF SOME OF THE MANY LOCAL WILD ANIMALS CROSS THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ME. IT ALSO AFFECTS THE ABILITY TO MANEUVER IN TRAFFIC UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS BROUGHT TO A STOP. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM DUE TO IT'S INTERMITTENT NATURE. SO FAR, THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD AIR SUSPENSION FAILURES, POWER STEERING FAILURES, AND " DUE NOT SHIFT TRANSMISSION" FAILURES AND HAS BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME AND OTHER DRIVERS AROUND ME. I USE THIS VEHICLE FOR WORK RELATED TRAVEL THROUGHOUT MULTIPLE STATES SO IT GETS DRIVEN OFTEN. *TR
EVTS INOPERATIVE, NO BLUE LIGHT. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND FOUND WIRE TO EVTS EMERGENCY BUTTON SEVERED, POSSIBLY SHORTED. REPAIRED WIRES, DID NOT CORRECT CONDITION. REPLACED WITH NEW EVTS, CONDITION REPAIRED SUCCESSFULLY. AT SAME TIME ALSO HAD RECALL N58 PERFORMED, REPROGRAM INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ABS / AL. THEN AT 4040 MILES OIL CHANGE DUE LIGHT CAME ON AND HAD THE FIRST OIL CHANGE DONE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON A VERY SHORT TIME AFTER THAT AND BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AT 4654 MILES. SAID IT WAS A DEFECTIVE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR, SENSOR WAS REPLACED, CLEARED CODES AND FOUND NO ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS. NOW AT ABOUT 12000 MILES THE OIL CHANGE DUE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON, BUT TOOK THE CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE ANYWAY. NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALONG WITH A LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON, CAR DID NOT WANT TO SHIFT OR SPEED UP, GOT OFF THE ROAD AND HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WAITING TO BE REPAIRED AGAIN. *TR
TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT APPROX. 16K MILES. OTHER JEEP OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION. WAS TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE AT 10K, 11,658K AND NOW 16K FOR REPAIR WITH ULTIMATELY REPLACING TRANSMISSION; KEY FOB DOES NOT WORK DAILY - WILL NOT LOCK VEHICLE NOR WILL VEHICLE START FOR A PERIOD OF APPROX TEN TO 15 MINUTES AFTER BEING ABLE TO GET INTO VEHICLE - DEALERSHIP/SERVICE CONTINUES TO INDICATE THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE DESPITE MY HAVING THIS ISSUE EVERY DAY. *JS
ON AT LEAST TWO OCCASIONS THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ROLLED AFTER THE SHIFTER WAS PLACED IN PARK POSITION. !. ON 11/18/2013 DOOR WAS AJAR WHILE DRIVER WAS ABOUT TO TURN OFF VEHICLE. JEEP SLIPPED OUT OF PARK AND SLOWLY BACKED INTO A CONCRETE BUTTRESS AT A GAS STATION CAUSING $900 DAMAGE TO THE DRIVER DOOR AND FRONT QUARTER PANEL. 2. IN THAT SAME WEEK, SHIFTER SLIPPED OUT OF PARK WHILE DRIVER WAS BEHIND VEHICLE TAKING A PHOTOGRAPH. SERIOUS INJURY PREVENTED BY PASSENGER WHO PUSHED THE SHIFTER BACK INTO PARK. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER FOR THIS PROBLEM ON 11/22/2013. DEALER INSPECTED AND HAD INSPECTION BY CHRYSLER FIELD REP. BOTH DENIED PROBLEM. SEE ATTACHMENT. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. IT IS NECESSARY TO CAREFULLY INSURE TRANSMISSION IS IN PARK BY HOLDING GEAR SHIFT IN PLACE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V483000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) HOWEVER, THE STABILITY CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THE SERVICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD NEED REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE REPAIRED BECAUSE THE PARTS NEEDED TO CORRECT THE FAILURE WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE WAS 200,900.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATED, IT WOULD ONLY DISBURSE AIR AT TEMPERATURES OF 130-150 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR DIAGNOSIS HOWEVER, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000. THE CURRENT FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,981. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEATED SEAT WOULD ACTIVATE INDEPENDENTLY AND WOULD ALSO OVERHEAT. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT WHENEVER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, A BURNING ODOR WAS EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120.
SOON AFTER TAKING POSSESSION OF THIS VEHICLE (9/27/13) I NOTICED THAT NOW AND AGAIN (4/5 TIMES) THERE WOULD BE A HESITATION FROM THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WHEN SHIFTING TO THE NEXT HIGHER GEAR WHEN ACCELERATING TO HIGHWAY SPEED. IT WAS SO SUBTLE THAT I FILED IT UNDER "NOTHING IS PERFECT", BUT WOULD KEEP SCORE. DON'T BE MISLED BY THE LOW MILEAGE ABOVE. THAT IS MY NEW NORMAL. A HEAD AND NECK INJURY IN 2001 FOLLOWED BY A LONG OVERDUE DIAGNOSIS OF SEVERE PTSD BY THE VA LEFT ME PRACTICALLY A "HOUSE HERMIT" AND DRIVING ANYWHERE INVOLVING DISTANCE REQUIRES HIRING A DRIVER. THIS VEHICLE WAS NOTHING MORE THAN MY BEING ABLE TO HAVE ACCESS TO THE WOODS WITH A 911 BUTTON ATTACHED TO KEEP THE P/A IN CHECK. WHAT HAPPENED TO ME WAS THAT FROM A STOP SIGN I TURNED ONTO THE MAIN HIGHWAY AND WAS ACCELERATING TO 55 WHEN AT ABOUT 50 THE TRANSMISSION HUNG, THIS TIME IT WOULD NOT RELEASE TO THE NEXT GEAR, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO STRUGGLE UNTIL IT ALMOST STALLED. AS UNEXPECTEDLY AS IT HAD HUNG THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED, THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY RECOVERED ""WITH A ROAR"" AND OFF WE WENT. (EXTRA RPM'S, ? COMPUTER/FUEL PUMP SAW NO PROBLEM) I'M SURE THAT IN THOSE SECONDS MY SPEED DROPPED 20 MPH'S WITH NO "WARNING", SUCH AS BRAKE LIGHTS HAD SOMEONE BEEN BEHIND ME. HAD THIS OCCURRED ENTERING A BUSY BELT-WAY, INTERSTATE, ETC., YOU CAN IMAGINE THE POSSIBLE MAY-HEM. DID SOME RESEARCH, GOT AN APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD (AS EXPECTED FROM RESEARCH) THEIR COMPUTER SAW NO ABNORMALITIES AND SHOWED ME A BLANK PIECE OF PAPER TO PROVE IT. ASKED THEM TO SIGN A PIECE OF PAPER SAYING MY DRIVETRAIN WAS "JUST WONDERFUL" AND REAFFIRMING THAT CHRYSLER HAD NEVER HEARD OF ANY PROBLEMS JUST IN CASE I OR OTHERS WOUND UP DEAD OR MAIMED FROM "NO PROBLEMS". I NOW HAVE A "MORAL PROBLEM" SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY AND NOT OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WOODS. *TR
THE HEADLIGHTS RETAIN MOISTURE OR ICE ON THE INTERIOR AREAS FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME WHILE DRIVING AND PARKED. THIS DEFINITELY BLOCKS THE LIGHT TRANSMISSION THROUGH TO THE EXTERIOR FOR PROPER AND SAFE DRIVING VISION. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES SINCE THE NOVEMBER INCIDENT AND I HAVE REPORTED TO CHRYSLER AND THE DEALERSHIP, GANDRUD IN GREEN BAY WI, EVERY TIME AND DOCUMENTED EACH WITH PICTURES OF THE EXACT PROBLEM. THE DEALER HAS PERFORMED THE SILLY TEST THAT CHRYSLER REQUIRES: HAVING THE VEHICLE SIT INDOORS HEATED FOR 20 MINUTES SO SEE IT THE WATER CLEARS. MINE DID NOT TOTALLY CLEAR AT ALL HOWEVER THE DEALER SAID IT WAS WITHIN THE "GUIDELINES" OF BEING OK BY CHRYSLER'S RULES. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I JUST PURCHASED A HIGHLY PRICED VEHICLE AND I SHOULD LEAVE IT SIT IN A HEATED GARAGE SO THE LIGHTS WORK! I DO BELIEVE CARS ARE MEANT TO BE DRIVEN ON THE ROAD IN THE DAY AND NIGHT. CHRYSLER CERTAINLY DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE CUSTOMER WHO WORKS HARD TO PAY FOR THIS MACHINE THAT IS VERY FAULTY. I HAVE ALWAYS OWNED A JEEP AND AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS SAFETY ISSUE. IT MUST BE RESOLVED AND I WILL KEEP AT THIS UNTIL IT IS. I KNOW MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AS SEEN ON THE INTERNET. THE SECOND VISIBILITY ISSUE IS THE WIPERS AND THE WAY THE WINDSHIELD DEFROSTS. THE WIPERS ARE PLACED SO THAT THE ICE OR SNOW WHEN DRIVING STAYS FROZEN AND IS NOT HEATED TO DEFROST PROPERLY. I HAVE REPLACED THE WIPERS AFTER ONLY DRIVING FOR A FEW DAYS IN WINTER WEATHER! I COULD NOT SEE. THAT HELPED SOME BUT NOT THE DEFROST PROBLEM AS STATED. IT IS ALSO VERY HARD TO REMOVE THE SNOW AND ICE FROM THE FRONT AREA UNDER THE WIPERS. MY OLD 1999 JEEP HAD NONE OF THESE PROBLEMS. MY GRANDSON IS STILL DRIVING IT. PERHAPS I SHOULD ASK TO BORROW IT. CERTAINLY CHRYSLER ENGINEERS CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED INDEPENDENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNINGS. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS WORKING UP TO STANDARDS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,000.

PURCHASED A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ON OCT 27, 2013 AND DISCOVERED THE FORWARD COLLISION SYSTEM (FCW) IS NOT WORKING, THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO FIX BUT FAILED. THEY GAVE ME ANOTHER 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ON NOV 2, 2013, I REALIZED IT HAS THE SAME EXACT DEFECT, AND AGAIN, THE DEALER TRIED TO FIX BUT FAILED TO DO SO. TWO BRAND NEW VEHICLES HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE VIN NUMBERS: 1C4RJXXXXXX AND 1C4RJFCXXXXX I SPOKE WITH MANUFACTURER AND THEY TRIED TO CONVINCE ME THAT "SYSTEM AVAILABLE" MEANS "SYSTEM IS ON" WHICH DIRECTLY CONTRADICTS THE MANUAL PROVIDED BY THEM. THAT IN ADDITION TO THE SYSTEM NOT WORKING AT ALL. SPOKE WITH OTHER JEEP OWNERS THAT HAVE THAT FUNCTION, THEY ALSO INDICATED THAT THEY HAVING TROUBLE GETTING THAT TO WORK AND THEY HAVING TROUBLE GETTING SUPPORT FROM JEEP. UPDATED 11/19/13*LJ *TR
EVERY INDICATOR ON MY DASH WAS ON AND MY SPEEDOMETER DIDN'T WORK. BROUGHT IT INTO [XXX] WHERE THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED. IT WAS IN THE SHOP AGAIN 2 WEEKS LATER FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND ALSO TO SERVICE THE ABS SYSTEM. TODAY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND THE CAR IS SHIFTING HARD AND HESITATING, CLUNKING AS IT SWITCHES GEARS. PARKING VEHICLE AND PUTTING INTO PARK. EXITED THE VEHICLE AND CAR STARTED MOVING. SHIFTER WAS NOT IN PARK. VERY FUSSY SHIFTER. YOU CAN NOT TELL IT'S IN PARK UNLESS YOU LOOK EACH TIME. EVEN THOUGH YOU PUSH IT ALL THE WAY UP SOMETIMES IT IS NOT IN PARK. I HAD THE CAR START ROLLING SEVERAL TIMES AFTER EXITING THE CAR. *TR
SHORTLY AFTER STARTING VEHICLE AND DRIVING AT APPROX 10 MPH, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. 30 SECONDS LATER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND MISFIRE WAS FELT, CAR BEGAN TO SHUDDER. I PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, AGAIN FLASHING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SHUDDERING. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER, WHO ALSO FELT MISFIRE ON COLD START NEXT AM AND CODES CONFIRMED MISFIRES IN MULTIPLE CYLINDERS. DEALER INSPECTED ENGINE BUT FOUND NO ISSUES. NEXT DAY, CAR OPERATED NORMALLY. APPROXIMATELY 1-2 WEEKS LATER, ON STARTING VEHICLE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIT UP, WITH CHECK AIR BAG WARNING AND LIGHTS INDICATED ABS FAILURE AND ECS OFF. CAR DROVE, BUT I SUBSEQUENTLY REALIZED SPEEDOMETER DID NOT WORK, IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING TO DRIVE ON HIGHWAY WITHOUT KNOWING MY SPEED. MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS BEEN A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE TO LEASE. I AM A RETURNING JEEP CUSTOMER AND THIS IS MY 5TH CHRYSLER LEASED PRODUCT. THIS ALL STARTED ONLY ONE WEEK (SEPTEMBER 2013) AFTER LEASING THE 2014 GRAND CHEROKEE WITH THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD GOING BLACK. BECAUSE OF THIS I WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE IT FOR OVER THREE WEEKS AND AT THAT POINT THERE STILL WAS NOT A FIX. FINALLY I SWITCHED TO GOLLING AND THE SERVICE MANAGER QUICKLY RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND ORDERED A NEW PART. THANK GOODNESS FOR GOLLING!! CHRYSLER'S CASE MANAGER WAS USELESS AND NEVER RESOLVED THE ISSUE! THE RECALL WAS NOT ISSUED UNTIL DECEMBER. SINCE THIS TIME I HAVE EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT AS WELL AS 5 RECALLS ALL IN THE FIRST YEAR OF LEASING. TO SAY I AM DISAPPOINTED IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. JEEP WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETELY FIX THE PROBLEMS TO MY SATISFACTION, I WAS GIVEN INCENTIVE TO TRADE IN FOR A 2014 GRAND JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED EDITION, WHICH WAS RUNNING GREAT UNTIL THIS PAST THURSDAY. ON THURSDAY I STARTED MY JEEP IT BARELY WOULD IDLE, I PROCEEDED TO GET ON THE INTERSTATE WHICH IS WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED JUMPING UP AND DOWN LIKE I WAS GOING OFF ROAD. IT WOULD SUDDENLY CHANGE TO NEUTRAL WITHOUT ME DOING ANYTHING, IT KEPT MISSING GEARS AND BARELY RUNNING. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET OFF THE EXIT. WHEN I GOT OFF THE EXIT IT WOULD BARELY IDLE AND AGAIN SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL WITHOUT ME DOING ANYTHING. EVENTUALLY I SAFELY MADE IT OFF THE EXIT AND INTO A PARKING LOT WHERE I GOT IT TOWED. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER COULD BARELY PULL IT UP ON THE TRAILER. WHEN IT WAS PLACED ON THE TRAILER IT WOULDN'T STAY IN PARK, IT KEPT TRYING TO SHIFT OUT OF GEAR. THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME TYPE OF INVESTIGATION IN THE GRAND JEEP CHEROKEE MODELS AND HOW THEY ARE PASSING INSPECTIONS THROUGH PRODUCTION LINE BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY FOR A CONSUMER TO GET TWO DEFECTIVE VEHICLES IN 7 MONTHS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND UNBELIEVABLE.

JEEP ROLLAWAY COMPLAINT: MY BRAND NEW 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE ROLLED AWAY FROM ME WHEN I PUT IT INTO PARK. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR TO GET THE MAIL AND FEW SECONDS LATER, I HEAR A CRASH. THE JEEP ROLLED OFF THE DRIVEWAY INTO A TREE. THANK GOD NO ONE WAS IN THE WAY AND MY DAUGHTER WAS NOT IN THE CAR. I GOT BACK INTO THE CAR AND FOUND THAT IT WAS IN REVERSE, NOT PARK! THE FONT BUMPER WAS DISLODGED AND SMASHED. I HAD BEEN HAVING A LOT OF TROUBLE GETTING THE ELECTRON GEAR SELECTOR TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT GEAR SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT THE CAR. 50% OF THE TIME I WOULD DISCOVER THAT I WAS IN REVERSE WHEN I THOUGHT I WAS IN PARK. THERE IS VERY LITTLE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE TWO GEARS, NOTHING DEFINITIVE LIKE THERE IS ON A SLIDE TRACK IN MOST CARS WITH A DEFINITIVE CLUNK WHEN YOU PUT IT INTO PARK. THE ONLY WAY TO BE ABSOLUTELY SURE WAS TO LOOK DOWN AT THE GEAR SHIFT TO SEE THE LIGHT INDICATOR. I'VE BEEN DRIVING ALL MY 59 YEAR OLD LIFE AND HAVE NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT. I WAS SO UPSET AND FRUSTRATED WITH THE GEAR SHIFT THAT I TOOK IT BACK AND ORDERED A 2013 JEEP WITH THE OLD GEAR SHIFT ON A TRACK SYSTEM. I'D HAD IT! IF THEY DON'T CHANGE THE GEAR SYSTEM IN THE NEXT JEEP, I WILL HAVE TO BUY A DIFFERENT MAKE. THE PROBLEM, ALTHOUGH MAY HAVE BEEN SOME KIND OF DEFECT IN THE ELECTRONIC GEAR SHIFT, IS, IN MY OPINION, NOT A DEFECT, SO NATURALLY CHRYSLER WILL NOT FIND ANY DEFECTS. THIS INCLUDED, BUT WAS NOT LIMITED TO: AIRBAGS, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, ABS BRAKE SYSTEM,CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND OTHERS. THE MESSAGES IN THE DASHBOARD INFORMATION SCREEN INDICATED VARIOUS FAILURES AND THE NEED TO SERVICE IMMEDIATELY. THE REAR BACKUP CAMERA ALSO BECAME NON FUNCTIONING. AFTER SHUTTING DOWN THE VEHICLE, WAITING SEVERAL MINUTES AND THEN RESTARTING, THE PROBLEMS CONTINUED. OUT OF SAFETY CONCERNS, I CALLED THE NEAREST JEEP DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THEY "HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS" AND IF I WANTED SERVICE THAT I WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE THERE SINCE THEY DO NOT MAKE APPOINTMENTS. THE LIGHTS WENT OUT UPON RESTARTING AGAIN, HOWEVER I AM VERY TENTATIVE ABOUT DRIVING IT, AS I DO NOT KNOW IF THESE IMPORTANT SAFETY SYSTEMS AND/OR WARNINGS HAVE FAILED. THIS IS POTENTIALLY EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND TOTALLY INEXCUSABLE IN A $47,000 VEHICLE WHICH IS LESS THAN 6 MONTHS OLD. THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND RADIO HAVE NOT WORKED PROPERLY SINCE I PURCHASED THE JEEP. UPON CALLING JEEP, AND PROVIDING MY VIN #, I WAS ADVISED THAT IT NEEDED A "RADIO ENHANCEMENT". WHEN I TURNED MY VEHICLE ON THIS MORNING THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SHOWED WARNING LIGHTS FOR THE ENGINE, EMERGENCY BRAKE, AIRBAGS, ABS AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL. I ALSO GOT SEPARATE MESSAGES SAYING TO HAVE THE AIRBAGS, ABS AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL CHECKED. THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD NOT WORK WHEN I STARTED DRIVING NOR WOULD THE ODOMETER. ALTHOUGH IT DOESN'T APPEAR THAT THERE IS ANYTHING ACTUALLY WRONG WITH THE CAR, THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY HAZARD SINCE I CANNOT TELL WHAT SPEED I AM DRIVING AT. WILL BE BRINGING THE CAR IN TO THE DEALER TO GET THE ISSUE SORTED, BUT WANTED TO FILE A COMPLAINT IN THE HOPES THAT A RECALL OCCURS (IT APPEARS AS THOUGH I AM NOT THE FIRST PERSON THIS HAS HAPPENED TO). *TR
THE SIDE MIRRORS COMPLETELY BLOCK MY VISION ON BOTH SIDES. WHEN PULLING UP TO A STOP SIGN I CANNOT SEE A VEHICLE OR PEDESTRIAN TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT WHEN IN LINE WITH THE MIRRORS. THE MIRRORS ARE TOO BIG. *TR
THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN GIVING ME TROUBLE WITH LOTS OF NECESSITIES LIKE AIR CONDITIONING SHUTTING OFF AND FRONTS LIGHT TURN OFF ON THEIR OWN. ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH 2013, I WAS DRIVING TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THINGS FIXED BUT WHILE I WAS ON MY WAY THERE DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL JUST LOCKED AND THE VEHICLE WONT RESPOND AND IT WAS RUNNING, IT SWITCHED TO NEUTRO THEN PARK ON ITS OWN AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND BRAKES ARE HEAVY! MIRACULOUSLY AND THANKS GOD, I WAS NOT INJURED AND THE VEHICLE NOT DAMAGED! I WAS IN BIG SHOCK AND STRESS! I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SOMETHING LIKE THAT, IT NEARLY COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED ME OR HIT SOMETHING OR SOMEBODY OR CAUSING DAMAGE! I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND SPOKE TO ONE OF THE SERVICE CENTER MANAGER AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED, THEY TESTED THE VEHICLE AND IT THE MANAGER TOLD ME, THIS VEHICLE HAS LOTS OF ISSUES NEED TO BE FIXED! I TOLD THEM, THIS VEHICLE NEARLY GOT ME KILLED OR INJURED OR SOME DAMAGE COULD HAVE BEEN HAPPENED! THEY GAVE ME A CHEAP RENTAL CAR AND REFER ME TO TALK DIRECTLY TO THE COMPANY PRODUCED THE VEHICLE! I CALLED ON FRIDAY AND THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER AND TOLD ME YOUR CASE WILL BE ASSIGNED TO A MANAGER WHOM WILL CONTACT YOU! I HAVE TRYING SINCE THEN TO GET A HOLD OF ANYBODY TO HELP! BUT SEEMS NOBODY SEEMS TO BE TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY! AND I WOULD JUST WONDER, WHAT IF YOU ARE IN THE VEHICLE WITH KIDS OR SOMEBODY OF YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS OR FRIENDS! THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE DELAY. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE AIR BAG WOULD DEPLOY IN HIS FACE. THE VEHICLE BURNED OIL CONTINUOUSLY AND THERE WAS BLUE FUMES COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE HORN SOUNDED AND THE HOOD LATCH FAILED. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PROTECTIVE PLATE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NOTIFICATION P67. THE FUEL DOOR MECHANISM WAS FRACTURED AND THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE DIP STICK WAS NOT REPLACED. A GRINDER WAS MARKED FOR A NEW FACTORY DIP STICK. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DEALER PLACED TOO MUCH OIL IN THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NEW WITH LESS THAN 200 MILES, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILED AND THE CONTACT COULD NOT SEE HOW FAST THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED A SHORT CIRCUIT IN THE SUN VISOR WIRING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE LOCKS UNLOCKED ON THEIR OWN. WHEN THE BUTTON WAS PUSHED ON THE KEY FOB TO OPEN THE REAR TAILGATE, IT WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,351.
WHEN I SAW THE NEWS STORY ON 3/21/16 ABOUT THE GEAR SHIFTER, IN MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, IT VALIDATED WHAT I HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING. I HAD DISLIKED THE DESIGN SINCE THE FIRST DAY I OWNED THE CAR. WHEN I SHIFTED, I WAS ALWAYS IN THE WRONG GEAR. A FELLOW JEEP OWNER SUGGESTED, I SHIFT AS HARD AS I COULD INTO PARK AND THE SAME FOR DRIVE. IT WORKED MOST OF THE TIME. I HAVE OFTEN STARTED TO EXIT THE CAR ONLY TO FIND IT WAS IN REVERSE, NOT PARK AND I OFTEN PUT IT IN PARK WHEN I MEAN TO REVERSE AS WELL AS SPORT MODE WHEN I WANT DRIVE. LUCKILY, A SIGNAL DOES GO OFF AND I CAN PUT MY FOOT BACK ON THE BREAK AND SHIFT IT INTO PARK. I HAD NEVER EXITED THE CAR AND HAD IT ROLL, BUT IT MAKES SENSE THAT SOMEONE WOULD. IT IS A HORRIBLE DESIGN AND I AM HOPING FOR A RECALL THAT WOULD MAKE JEEP REPLACE THE GEAR SHIFTER. I HAD TO ENTER A DATE THAT IT HAPPENED BELOW, BUT IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. I CANNOT ACTUALLY REPORT AN ACCIDENT/INCIDENT, I SIMPLY WANT TO VALIDATE THE THEORY THAT THE DESIGN IS FLAWED AND DANGEROUS.
WHOLE PANEL GOES BLANK LOSE ALL INFO FOR DRIVING BRAKES SEEM ABNORMAL DOES NOT BRAKE EASY. NAVIGATION INSTRUMENT PANELS GO BLANK AND FREEZE ALSO CAR SHIFTER FROM AUTO DRIVE TO SUPER WHILE DRIVING. 3RD ATTEMPT TO FIX REPLACED WHOLE CLUSTER BUT STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM MY WIFE WILL NOT DRIVE CAR ANYMORE DUE TO FEAR OF SAFETY AND HAVE CHILDREN ONLY 5000 MILES ON IT AND WE CANNOT DRIVE ANYMORE VERY UNSAFE. VEHICLE IS SLOW WHEN SHIFTING IN LOW GEARS; PULLING AWAY FROM STOP LIGHTS/SIGNS FEELS AS IF THE CAR IS NOT IN DRIVE AND GOING TO STALL. THIS COULD RESULT IN BEING REAR ENDED SINCE SO MANY DRIVERS SPEED AWAY WHEN LIGHT TURNS GREEN. IT SEEMS LIKE IT STUTTERS DURING SHIFTING. HAVING IT IN ECO-MODE HIGHLIGHTS THE ISSUE FURTHER. THE DOWN SHIFTING AT HIGHER SPEEDS FEELS LIKE A STICK SHIFT CAR, NOT NORMAL OR COMFORTABLE. EVEN ON THE HIGHWAY ACCELERATION IS OFTEN NOT VERY RESPONSIVE DURING ENTRANCE AND PASSING. THE GAS PEDAL IS VERY TOUCHY, NO WAY TO PULL AWAY SLOWLY, JUST TAKES OFF; THIS MIGHT BE PART OF THE ISSUE, CONFUSING THE SENSORS DURING SHIFTING. I CONTACTED MY SALES PERSON WHO SAID HE'D HAVE A SERVICE TECH CONTACT ME, NO CALLS YET. I WISH I HAD CHECKED THIS SITE AND EDMUNDS BEFORE BUYING, AS I WOULD HAVE CHOSE A DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER. THIS IS MY 4TH JEEP GR CHEROKEE, UNFORTUNATELY THE LEAST DESIRABLE, MY '09 HAD ZERO ISSUES AND ORIGINAL BRAKES AT TRADE IN WITH OVER 105,000 MILES; '14 IS LIKELY MY LAST. *TR
WHEN I DROVE THE CAR AT AROUND 60 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES SIDE TO SIDE AGGRESSIVELY. THE DEALERSHIP CHANGED TWO DRIVE SHAFTS AND CHECKED THE BALANCE OF THE TIRES. AFTER ALL THAT IT STILL SHAKES THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT JUST HOW THE JEEP RIDES NO CAR OR TRUCK I'VE DROVE EVER DID THAT. I THINK ITS A SAFETY DEFECT IN THE STEERING AT HIGH SPEEDS AND ALL I DRIVE IS EXPRESSWAY DRIVING. A NEW VEHICLE SHOULDN'T DRIVE LIKE THIS. *TR
