PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST SAFETY FEATURE DEPLOYED AT LOW SPEED. I WAS BACKING UP IN FRONT OF NEIGHBOR HOME ON CUL DE SAC.NOT INVOLVED IN ANY COLLISION OR IMPACT. THIS IS ON A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE
MY VEHICLE HAS A KNOCKING IN THE ENGINE MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 26, 000 MILES THAT SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. I HAVE MY OIL CHANGES EVERY THREE THOUSAND MILES..
I WAS EASING OUR 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE INTO A PARKING SPOT AT A TRAIL HEAD PARKING LOT WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I FULLY ENGAGED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE, AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT FULL THROTTLE OVER THE TOP OF A 2.5 FT BY 2.5 FT CEMENT BLOCK PARKING BARRIER. IT DRAGGED THE CEMENT BLOCK ABOUT 20-25 FT. I CONTINUED TO PRESS THE BRAKE AND AFTER ABOUT 40 FT, THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. IT WAS TERRIFYING NOT TO BE IN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS INJURED. DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE IS YET TO BE DETERMINED, BUT EVEN IF IT IS REPAIRED, THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING IT AGAIN. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE TOTALED AND NOT RESOLD TO ANYONE ELSE. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL JEEP OWNER FOR OVER 20 YEARS, BUT I AM NOT SURE I WOULD PURCHASE ANOTHER ONE, ESPECIALLY NOW THAT I HAVE RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND REALIZE THAT THIS IS A RARE BUT REOCCURRING PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FOR 20+ YEARS.
WHEN FIRST STARTING THE CAR IT WOULD STUMBLE & STALL & STOP. AFTER A NUMBER OF STARTS IT WOULD KEEP RUNNING IF I KEPT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL. FINALLY IT WAS RUNNING SO IT COULD BE DRIVEN HOME, BUT AT TIMES IT WOULD STUMBLE & STALL, AT AT TIME ALMOST NO ACCELERATION. I HAD TO KEEP 1 FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL TO KEEP THE CAR RUNNING. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP, WHERE IT REMAINS. THE TROUBLE WAS DIAGNOSED A FUEL PUMP FAILURE. PREVIOUS MODEL JEEPS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND WERE RECALLED
YESTERDAY (11/24/2019) WHEN MY ADULT DAUGHTER ENTERED MY 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED, JUST AFTER CLOSING THE DOOR AND FASTENING HER SEAT BELT, THE HEADREST BURST AND HIT HER IN THE BACK OF HER HEAD/NECK. SHE HAD COMPLAINED OF DISCOMFORT AFTER THE INCIDENT, SO WE WILL BE KEEPING AN EYE ON HER TO CONFIRM SHE DIDN'T SUFFER A CONCUSSION. THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING AND NOTHING HAD OCCURRED TO CAUSE THE HEADREST TO REACT.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR NO REASON. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE AIRBAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY IN CRASH
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING, THE HEADREST ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE POPPED OPEN. THE CONTACT CALLED TOM O'BRIEN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM INDIANAPOLIS (4630 E 96TH ST, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46240, (317) 805-4400) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,781.
POWER STEERING RACK LOSES FLUID BETWEEN THE RACK AND THE BOOT. THE RACK HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND NOW NEEDS A 3RD REPLACEMENT RACK. LOSS OF POWER STEERING FLUID CAN LEAD TO LOSS OF STEERING ABILITY AND POSES A SAFETY RISK.
PASSENGER HEADREST SAFETY FEATURE DEPLOYED OVERNIGHT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED INSIDE OUR GARAGE. THE PLASTIC ON THE INSIDE OF THE HEADREST IS BROKEN AND THE HEADREST CAN NOT BE RESET.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY. HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES AND HAS BEEN CHECKED OUT BY JEEP SERVICE CENTERS TWICE. THEY CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. DURING ONE DRIVE, THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON BUT ALSO, THE COMPLETE DASHBOARD, INCLUDING SPEEDOMETER AND ENGINE INDICATORS ALL WHEN BLACK AND ENGINE STARTED TO SLOW. WITHIN ABOUT 20 SEC, IT WOULD RECOVER. THIS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES OVER A ONE HOUR DRIVE.
THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING FLASHES ON MY DASHBOARD RANDOMLY BUT DOES NOT AFFECT THE PERFORMANCE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER READ THE DIAGNOSTIC CODES AND SAID NO TROUBLE FOUND. "BRING IT IN WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN" WAS THEIR BEST ADVICE. THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY RECALLS - WHICH I DON'T BELIEVE. I HAVE READ ENOUGH ON-LINE COMMENTS TO KNOW THIS ISSUE IS HAPPENING WITH MANY OTHER JEEP OWNERS. WE NEED YOUR HELP IN HAVING JEEP ISSUE A RECALL TO HAVE THIS COMMON PROBLEM RESOLVED.
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, THE DRIVER HEADREST POPPED OUT OF PLACE AND HIT ME IN THE HEAD. THIS CAUSED ME TO SWERVE WHILE GOING 70+ MPH. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURIES TO MYSELF AND/OR OTHERS. WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP I WAS INSTRUCTED A PART HAD 'BROKE OFF' AND SINCE I WAS OUT OF MY WARRANTY PERIOD IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED TO REPAIR.
THE FRONT PASSENGER SEATBELT WILL NOT RETRACT, THEREFORE IT WILL NOT LOCK INTO PLACE. WE ARE UNABLE TO HAVE A FRONT PASSENGER BECAUSE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE. WE HAVE TRIED TO GET IT TO RETRACT WHILE IN PARK OR DRIVE, ALSO WITH THE JEEP TURNED OFF.
JEEP SHIFTS DOWN TO FIRST GEAR AUTOMATICALLY FROM HIGHER SPEEDS 30 TO 50 MPH WITHOUT WARNING,RACING ENGINE ERRATICALLY @ HIGH RPMS THIS HAS HAPPENED 10 TIMES IN THE YEAR WE HAVE OWNED IT. 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS HAVE TRIED TO FIND ROOT CAUSE WITH NO ANSWER WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE IT FILED A STAR CASE WITH CHRYSLER STARTED BETWEEN 10K MILES TO CURRENT 33K
COMING OUT OF A TUNNEL, WET SURFACE, SLIGHT TURN, AND THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM KNOWN AS TRACTION CONTROL LOCKED BRAKES AND STEERING UP ON IT'S OWN CAUSING CAR TO HYDRO PLANE INTO A CURB AND A WALL. I HAD NO CONTROL BUT IF I DID I COULD HAVE CONTROLLED THE CAR AND PREVENT THE CRASH.
MEMORY SEATS NO LONGER WORK, THEREFORE CAUSING MY SEAT TO BE OUT OF WHACK AND I CAN NOT SIT RIGHT. MY ENGINE BEGAN TO MAKE A TICKING NOISE OUT OF NOWHERE, MEANING SOMETHING IS WRONG. ONE HEADLIGHT IS OUT BUT ISN'T AND CAUSES MY BRIGHT TO BE ON AT ALL TIMES. WHEN USING MY LIGHT I NOW CANNOT USE MY ACTUAL BRIGHTS. *PM
WHILE DRIVING DONW A MAIN ROAD THE GAS PEDAL SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING AND WOULD NOT ENGAGE. I COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO MOVE FORWARD BUT IT WAS STILL RUNNING. I PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO STOP AND TURN THE CAR OFF. TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON TO SEE IF THE GAS PEDAL WOULD RE-ENGAGE, I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE 100FT AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I THEN "ROLLED" INTO AN EMPTY LOT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE SMOKE WAS NOTICED COMING OUT OF THE HOOD. I POPPED THE HOOD BUT DID NOT OPEN IT AND CALLED 911. WHILE ON THE PHONE WITH 911, A LOUD POP WAS HEARD UNDER THE HOOD, SPARKS WERE SEEN AND THE CAR CAUGHT FIRE.*DT*JB
2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH 66,500 MILES SUDDENLY HAD SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE IN CONJUNCTION WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I HAD TROUBLE SHIFTING CAR INTO GEAR. ALMOST SEEMED LIKE IT WAS LOCKED UP. THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARED AND WENT INTO GEAR WITH NO MORE PROBLEMS FOR A FEW DAYS. THEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. I TOOK MY JEEP IN AND NOTHING SHOWED ON THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST CONCERNING SHIFTER, BUT THEY DID FIND PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING SYSTEM. ISSUE WAS COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. THEY RE-EXAMINED IT AGAIN AND STILL COULD T FIND ANY ISSUES WITH THE SHIFTER. THE DEALERSHIP HAD MY JEEP FOR 6 DAYS. I PICKED UP MY JEEP TODAY AND AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 60-70 MILES THE MESSAGE SERVICE SHIFTER APPEARED FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS AS I WAS DRIVING AND THEN DISAPPEARED. I AM EXTREMELY IRRITATED ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I INTEND TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW. I HAVE READ MANY OTHER COMMENTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH 2015, 2016, 2017 AND 2018 MODELS. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED FOR RECALL. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED AND FIXED PER MANUFACTURER.
THE FRONT SEAT DRIVER SIDE HEADREST HAS PROTRUDED FORWARD. I JUST NOTICED IT YESTERDAY WHEN I DROVE THE JEEP HOME FROM WORK. IT WAS PARKED IN OUR COMPANY PARKING LOT ALL DAY WHILE I WAS AT WORK WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WENT TO SCHICKER AUTOMOTIVE GROUP (JEEP DEALER) IN WASHINGTON MISSOURI. THEY TOLD ME I NEED A WHOLE NEW HEADREST. TOTAL COST, PARTS AND LABOR. $771.00
WE HAD OUR 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WORKED ON TO REPAIR THE ISSUES PER NHTSA RECALL # 16V-240. RECENTLY, THE JEEP ALERTED ME AS I WAS DRIVING AT A SPEED OF APPROX. 35 MPH THAT THE "AUTOPARK HAS BEEN DISABLED." MY DEALER IS UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHY THIS RECALL/SOFTWARE UPDATE HAS FAILED AND RENDERED THE "ADDITIONAL MECHANISM TO MITIGATE THE EFFECT OF OPERATOR ERROR IN FAILING TO SHIFT THE MONOSTABLE GEAR SELECTOR INTO PARK PRIOR TO EXITING THE VEHICLE" CURRENTLY USELESS.
MY PASSENGER SIDE ACTIVE HEADREST POPPED OPEN ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE PARKED. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NO ONE SITTING THERE AT THE TIME. I'VE READ STORIES FROM A LOT OF OTHER JEEP AND CHRYSLER OWNERS THAT EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE AND THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT TO FORCE A RECALL. AT BEST, THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE FIX WHICH REALLY SHOULD BE THE MANUFACTURER'S RESPONSIBILITY. AT WORST, IT CAN KNOCK SOMEONE OUT WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. PLEASE LOOK INTO IT.
OUR 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ECO DIESEL STALLS WHEN SLOWING. WE HAVE TAKEN OUR JEEP EARNHARDT CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM SERVICE CENTER 10 TIMES AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLS IT CREATES A SEVERE SAFETY SITUATION. WHEN THE JEEP STALLS YOU LOOSE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES AND THE ENGINE IS DEAD. ONE MUST BRAKE, SHIFT INTO PARK, AND TRY TO START THE ENGINE WHILE PUTTING ON YOUR EMERGENCY FLASHERS. SOMETIMES THE ENGINE DOES NOT START THE FIRST TIME. THIS HAS ONLY HAPPED ON SURFACE STREETS SO FAR. THE JEEP WARRANTY CASE NUMBER IS 76048098. ALL OF THE SERVICE VISITS HAVE BEEN DOCUMENTED. OUR 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING STALLING ISSUES SINCE OCTOBER 2019. WE HAVE NOW HAD THE VEHICLE IN TO EARNHARDT CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM IN GILBERT, ARIZONA FOR A TOTAL OF 10 TIME AND 70 DAYS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE JEEP STALLS WHEN BRAKING AND SLOWING DOWN WHICH MEANS YOU LOOSE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. THE DRIVER MUST BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP, SHIFT INTO "PARK", AND THEN TRY TO START THE VEHICLE. WHILE THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED ON SURFACE ROADS, THE STALLING POSES A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. WE NEED TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED.
DRIVING THE VEHICLE SPEED OVER 60 MILES IT SHAKES AND IT TREMBLES, AND THE SENSOR DRIVING BEERS OUT OF CONTROL
HEAD REST BLEW APART WITH NO ACCIDENT INVOLVED. PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. NO RECALL FOUND RELATED. RESEARCH FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE.
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE RACK AND PINION STEERING ASSEMBLY WAS LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID AND THAT MY POWER STEERING FLUID RESERVOIR WAS NEARLY EMPTY. MY CAR HAS 80K MILES ON IT. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON COMPLAIN AMONGST OWNERS OF MY MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE.
WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY, UNOCCUPIED, AND ENGINE NOT RUNNING, THE ACTIVE HEADREST RESTRAINT SYSTEM ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO COLLISION OR CONTACT WITH ANYTHING TO CAUSE DEPLOYMENT. THE MECHANIZE INTERNAL PARTS THE KEEP THE HEADREST TOGETHER BROKE CAUSING DEPLOYMENT AND NOT ALLOWING THE HEADREST TO BE RESET OR PUT BACK IN PLACE. I HAD TO PUT A BUNGIE CORD AROUND THE HEADREST TO HOLD IT BACK IN PLACE SO I CAN DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE DEPLOYED HEADREST PUSHING AGAINST THE BACK ON MY HEAD, WHICH IS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. THIS OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 61800 MILES. MY FACTORY EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 60000. EVEN THOUGHT THE DEALER IS FAMILIAR WITH THIS PROBLEM FCA WILL NOT COVER THIS REPAIR WHICH WAS QUOTED AT $900. I WAS ALSO TOLD THE PARTS ARE BACK ORDERED WITH NO DATE AS WHEN THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE SAFETY PART PROBLEM WHICH FCA SHOULD BE REQUIRED ISSUE A RECALL.*DT*JB
WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THERE IS AN EXTREMELY LOUD BUZZING NOISE FROM THE FRONT OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPER AREA. THE ENCASING BEING LOOSE AND DRY ROTTING. THIS WILL EVENTUALLY FALL APART AND CAUSE ISSUES WITH THE WIPER MODULE.
THE CARBON FIBER TRIM INSIDE ARE PEELING AND THEY ARE SHARP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS FLASHED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE BEGAN AROUND MAY OF 2018 AND WORSENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP OF PARAMUS (315 ROUTE 4 WEST, PARAMUS, NJ 07652) WHERE THE EMISSION EVAPORATION VENT WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVEN TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 64723187. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT A CRASH OCCURRED BECAUSE THE BRAKES SEIZED WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE POLICE WAS PRESENT AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED AND TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

AHR - HEADREST BROKEN, LATCH IS CLOSED AND LOCKED POSITION WITH THE STEEL RETAINING ROD STILL CAPTURED IN LOCKING MECHANISM, PLASTIC FEATURES THAT RETAIN STEEL ROD ARE BROKEN, THIS IS NOT A DEPLOYMENT, THIS IS A COMPONENT FAILURE, VEHICLE WAS PARKED, ENGINE NOT RUNNING, VEHICLE WAS NOT OCCUPIED
WE TRIED TO ENTER HWY 65 NORTH IN MO . FROM A SIDE HWY . HWY 65 IS A 4 LANE HWY , 2 LANES NORTH AND 2 LANES SOUTH . WE CROSSED THE 2 SOUTH LANES AND WAITED TILL WE COULD ENTER THE NORTH BOUND LANES . WHEN IT WAS SAFE TO GO I STEPPED ON THE THROTTLE AND THE MOTOR STAYED AT IDLE . IT PUT US IN THE MIDDLE OF THE 2 NORH LANES AND STOPPED . I KEPT PRESSING ON THE THROTTLE UNTIL WE KREPT ACCROSS THE LANES AND OUT OF TRAFFIC COMING AT US AT 65 MPH . THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES . IT HAS HAPPENED IN TOWN WHERE WE LIVE IN AZ . WE ALSO HAD TROUBLE WHEN WE ENTERED THE ROAD BY OUR HOTEL . THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE SOME ONE TO BE KILLED . THIS PROBLEM STARTED AFTER AN EMISSIONS RECALL WAS INSTALLED . RECALL / CSN 1 V08 - 3.0 DIESEL
PASSENGER HEADREST COMPLETELY CAME APART. THE BACK IS NOT ATTACHED TO THE FRONT AND YOU SEE ALL OF THE INNER COMPONENTS. NO INCIDENT OR SHOCK TO THE VEHICLE TO CAUSE THIS. ONE DAY IT WAS FINE, NEXT DAY IT WASN'T.
ONE MORNING AS I GOT INTO MY JEEP TO DRIVE TO WORK, I NOTICED THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST HAD POPPED OPEN, SEEMINGLY OVERNIGHT. I DID NOT WITNESS THIS HAPPENING - I JUST NOTICED THE END RESULT. I HAVE TRIED TO "CLOSE" IT BUT I AM UNABLE TO DO SO.
WHILE DRIVING APPROX 35 MPH, THE PASSENGER SEAT HEADREST SAFETY DEVICE DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON WHILE MY 14 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT SEAT. LUCKILY SHE WAS NOT HURT DURING THE INCIDENT. THE PLASTIC PIECES HOLDING THE PIN IN PLACE FAILED RELEASING THE HEADREST. BECAUSE THE PLASTIC FAILED, THERE IS NO WAY TO RESET THE HEADREST AS THE PIN HOLDS IT IN PLACE. THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECTIVE COMPONENT OF THE HEADREST SAFETY SYSTEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE HEAD REST AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING TO HIS DESTINATION. SAFETY ISSUES INCLUDE: - HANDS-FREE PHONE SYSTEM NON-FUNCTIONAL. - NAVIGATION SYSTEM NO LONGER AVAILABLE. - EMERGENCY SERVICE FEATURES NOT AVAILABLE. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE ARE OTHER FAILINGS, BUT ARE NOT KNOWN TO BE SAFETY ISSUES, PER SE. THESE PROBLEMS PERSIST AT ALL TIMES, WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. UNCERTAIN WHAT OTHER VEHICLE SYSTEMS THIS AFFECTS. THERE IS NO GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION DEPENDENCY ON THE ISSUE. THEY WERE UNABLE TO REACH MANAGEMENT LEVEL PERSONNEL AT NEAREST DEALERSHIP TO GENERATE ISSUE AWARENESS. DEALERS CLAIM NO AWARENESS OR KNOWLEDGE OF ISSUE, AND ARE SEEKING FEES FOR DIAGNOSIS AND CORRECTION OF ISSUE. AS THE OUTRIGHT OWNER OF THE VEHICLE, WHAT CAN BE DONE TO TERMINATE FCA FROM CONDUCTING ANY FURTHER UNAUTHORIZED VEHICLE SOFTWARE UPDATES? ALL PURCHASE TERMS HAVE BEEN LEGALLY REVIEWED, AND THERE IS NO BINDING AGREEMENT THAT ALLOWS FCA OR AFFILIATES TO CONDUCT ANY VEHICLE MODIFICATIONS - INCLUDING SOFTWARE CHANGES - WITHOUT OWNER PERMISSION. IT HAS BEEN LEARNED IN THE LAST 24 HOURS, THAT THIS ISSUE HAS BECOME CHRONIC AFFECTING A LARGE NUMBER OF VEHICLES. WAIT TIMES IN CONTACTING FCA CUSTOMER SERVICE ARE INDICATIVE OF THE EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM, FORCING OWNERS TO WAIT ON HOLD FOR SERVICE UP TO AN HOUR. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY CONSIDERED NON-OPERABLE, UNTIL FURTHER UNDERSTANDING OF RISKS ARE UNDERSTOOD. SEEKING TSB FOR ISSUE.
MY COMPLAINT IS ABOUT A DANGER CAUSED BY A U-CONNECT (UC) UPDATE NOTICE FOR MY 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THAT, UNTIL COMPLETED, THE JEEP'S SAFETY FEATURES INCLUDING 911 WERE UNAVAILABLE. A PROGRAMMING GLITCH WOULDN'T ALLOW AN UPDATE TIME TO BE CHOSEN.THE NOTICE CONTINUED TO BLOCK THE SCREEN MAKING IT UNUSABLE. ON 10-3-19, AN HR INTO A 5 HR TRIP, A NOTICE ON THE SCREEN SAID: URGENT UPDATED NEEDS TO BE SCHEDULED/COMPLETED W/IN 24 HOURS BUT, IN MEANTIME, "ESSENTIAL SERVICES" LIKE 911 & BLUETOOTH (& COUPLE OTHERS) AREN'T AVAILABLE. I TRIED TO SET A TIME BUT THE ORIGINAL SCREEN KEPT POPPING BACK UP. I COULD NOT CLEAR THE NOTICE FROM THE SCREEN AND IT BLOCKED BEING ABLE TO USE ANY OF THE SCREEN TABS. COULDN'T EVEN USE UC'S CALL-ASSIST BUTTON ON REARVIEW MIRROR. IN THE GLOVE BOX I FOUND AN ACTUAL # FOR UC & CALLED DIRECTLY. THE WOMAN, HELEN, SAID THERE'D BEEN A "GLITCH" IN THE PROGRAM, THAT I WAS "OUT OF LUCK," SHE WAS SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE, THAT SHE HAD OTHER CUSTOMERS TRAVELING & IN SIMILAR PREDICAMENT. INITIALLY SHE SUGGESTED I PULLED OFF THE HWY TO ATTEMPT A SYSTEM RESET (AFTER WHICH THE HAZARD LIGHTS WOULDN'T SHUT OFF UNTIL AN EXTRA LONG HOLD OF THE HAZARD BUTTON). WHEN THE RESET DIDN'T WORK, SHE ADVISED THAT WHEN WE GET TO OUR DESTINATION (UNLESS WE FELT UNSAFE WE SHOULD STOP OUR TRIP THEN) TO BE OUT OF THE CAR FOR AT LEAST AN HOUR, TO PICK AN UPDATE TIME W/O ANY ZEROS (APPARENTLY THAT WAS THE "GLITCH") LIKE 11:17. THE CAR HAD TO BE LOCKED IN A CERTAIN PATTERN TO PUT IT IN "SLEEP" MODE. THE ACTUAL KEYS HAD TO BE AT LEAST 25 FEET AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. IF THIS ALL DIDN'T WORK WE'D HAVE TO FIND A DEALER BUT IT DID WORK OVERNIGHT. SO WE DROVE FOR 4 HOURS W/O NAVIGATION, BLUETOOTH OR 911. NOR DID WE HAVE RADIO ACCESS TO HEAR TRAFFIC OR WEATHER REPORTS ALONG OUR ROUTE. IT WAS VERY UNSETTLING TO BE DRIVING IN THE DARK WITHOUT ANY OF THE JEEP'S COMPUTER AVAILABLE.
PASSENGER SEAT HEAD REST DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY OVER NIGHT IN OUR GARAGE. IN THE MORNING WE DISCOVERED THE DEPLOYED HEAD REST
ON 10/1/2019 WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IN MY 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO, THE PASSENGER SEAT HEADREST DEPLOYED FOR NO KNOWN REASON. THIS WAS ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY WITH TRAFFIC MOVING UP TO 55 MPH. IT SOUNDED LIKE A SHOTGUN BLAST. FORTUNATELY MY WIFE OR OLDER KIDS WEREN'T IN THE SEAT AT THE TIME BECAUSE THEY COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED.
THERE IS A WIND NOISE COMING INTO THE CAR THAT IS EXTREMELY LOUD AND DISTRACTING WHEN DRIVING ON THE TURNPIKE WHICH IS WHEN IT MOSTLY OCCURS. I TOOK MY JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE PASSENGER SIDE OF WINDSHIELD WIPER COWLING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE ALMOST $500 TO REPLACE. I WENT TO SAFELITE AND THE REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR JEEP. I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT HAVING TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM OUT OF MY OWN EXPENSES WHEN THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE OF JEEP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DECELERATING, THE VEHICLE SURGED AND LUNGED FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, NEARLY CAUSING A CRASH INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KOONS TYSONS CHRYSLER JEEP LOCATED AT 2050 CHAIN BRIDGE RD, VIENNA, VA 22182, TO BE REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
Both driver side and passenger side doors are clicking when they open and close, seems like a hinge has been damaged. When opening the doors they will close on their own quickly unless opened all the way.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK TODAY 9/29/19 ON A TWO LANE ROAD AND WAS TRAVELING AROUND 40MPH COMING UP TO A RED LIGHT WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE ACTIVE HEADREST ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DEPLOYED STRIKING ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD WITH ENOUGH FORCE IT FELT LIKE A PUNCH, THIS CAUSED ME TO SWERVE AND NEARLY REAR END THE CAR STOPPING IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE DONE SOME QUICK RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND NOTICE THIS IS NOT A CURRENT RECALL NOR AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. IN MY CASE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN LIFE THREATENING HAD I NOT BEEN ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.
I WAS DROPPING MY SON OFF AT SCHOOL. WHILE I HAD THE CAR IN PARK, THE PASSENGER SEAT HEADREST DEPLOYED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. LUCKILY HE WAS TOO SHORT FOR IT TO HIT HIS HEAD.
PASSENGER SEAT HEAD REST AIRBAG DEPLOYED WHILE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT
ON SEVERAL SECTIONS OF THE FRONT GOOD, SPECIFICALLY WHERE THE PAINTED PORTION WRAPS UNDER THE FRONT OF THE HOOD TO MEET THE ALLUMINUM, THE THE PAINT IS BUBBLING AND IN SOME SPOTS, BEGINNING TO RUST. I TAKE GREAT CARE OF MY VEHICLE AND THESE PAINT DEFECTS APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY EITHER RUST BEING PRESENT AT THE TIME THE VEHICLE WAS PAINTED AT THE FACTORY, OR SOME SORT OF ELECTRICAL CHARGE IS CAUSING THE PAINT TO BUBBLE.
SINCE THE RECALL A YEAR AGO (SPRING 2019) THE VEHICLE HAS A SERIOUS HESITATION IN THE THROTTLE RESPONSE UNTIL THE ECODIESEL ENGINE REACHES FULL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. THIS CREATES A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. THE FUEL MILEAGE HAS DROPPED A MINIMUM OF 4 MPG. I RECEIVED A SECOND NOTICE (12/10) REGARDING AN "APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION DISCLOSURE 3.0L DIESEL" THE LOCAL DEALER WAS UNAWARE AND STATED IT WAS THE PREVIOUS RECALL. I CALLED "FCA" (JEEP) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THIS WAS THE PRECURSER TO ANOTHER RECALL. THE ONLY IDENTIFYING NUMBERS I HAVE ARE "FC106038" AND "****AUTO**ALL FOR AADC 030 7/1/2" MARKED ON THE NOTICE. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS A FIX OF SOME SORT. THE CURE FOR THE ORIGINAL RECALL SEEMS TO BE WORSE THAN THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM. THE ORIGINAL RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED 9/17/19.

THE DEALERS PREDICTED THAT THERE MAY BE A RECALL ISSUED IN DECEMBER OF 2019. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
